REVEREND AND THE MAKERS – THE POETRY CLUB 10th JULY 2023

I was interested in the marketing for the new Reverend and the Makers album as Reverend (Jon McClure) was doing almost constant social media posts on its release. He announced an acoustic tour of tiny venues and I managed to get a ticket for The Poetry Club at SWG3. A tiny venue holding around 125.

The new album came out in between buying my ticket and the gig and I absolutely hated it. The production was strange and very different to the previous indie style and seemed to be auto tuned. Despite this, given it was an acoustic tour I decided to go along. I’m a huge fan of Jon McClure, he’s a cool guy and told funny stories in between songs and the acoustic versions of the new songs were infinitely better than the album version.  

The audience seemed to love it and as I didn’t know too many of the songs after about 40 minutes I’d had enough and left. I’m glad I went and will keep checking on future Reverend releases and hope he goes back to the indie style.

In answer to 'hey baby, what's your fet' the current answer is TERRIBLE, no fet at all. But that's because I've started a new playthrough of Book of Hours.

My last play through was loosely based on Yugi and he was the prodigal son of two immortals and ultimately decided to settle into being a content, quiet librarian for the rest of his days, partially because I JUST figured out how to run the desks usefully and also that maybe I should aim slightly if I want a fancier ending???

So we're on a new Librarian. This one is loosely based on Ryou. He has shapt, wist, and trist to start out and he Did An Undisclosed Crime before becoming the Librarian of Hush House to avoid/repent his crimes. Aiming for a slightly fancier ending, as I said, now that I understand Numen and also writing desks.

His old friend on the island is Mr. Kille, the coffin maker. I have decided that Mr. Kille is Yugi and Mrs. Kille (the midwife) is Tea. Yugi is the MOST CHEERFUL of coffinmakers and adores Ryou. He has introduced Ryou to Reverend Joseph Wheeler, while Ryou paid a random miner to introduce him to the local smith, Tristan. Between Yugi and Tristan, Ryou has successfully gotten over the bridge and into Hush House. He's settling into the Keeper's Lodge and trying to decide what the hell to do next. Mostly just looking at the handful of books he's found.

It is spring. The future stretches before him. Let's get Eldritch With It.
