okay i hope this isn't weird but i was looking through the notes on that post about sun and moon because i was curious to see what people were saying and i noticed you reblogged it a while back and said in the tags that you wished the best parts of SUMO and USUM were fused into one?? and that is exactly what i've been saying since USUM was released omg. USUM's gameplay upgrades + SUMO's story with necrozma and ultra space exploration included would literally be the perfect game to me!! i wish gamefreak had just taken more time to do exactly that instead of feeling like they had to get a game out for the series 20th anniversary and then releasing USUM with a story that was changed for the worse, seemingly just for the sake of changing it.

The ultra space stuff was amazing and they streamlined the start of the game in a way I like way more (like what platinum did at the start vs dp). I loved the revamped trials too! Not to mention, I feel like ultra necrozma was the start of pokemon having story battles that genuinely felt like they could be classified as boss fights.

...In terms of difficulty anyway, because nihilego Lusamine had exactly the right vibes for it and I'm still upset that they ditched that whole thing in usum then tried to woobify her 😔 The original story was rad and I feel like trying to make her a sympathetic character in usum really weakened it a lot. She was a ruthless, terrible person and a terrible mother, and if other pokevillains get to stay shitty then I don't get why she has to be any different.

If we just had a mix of the best parts of both we'd have the perfect pokemon game smh

Alternatively I feel like the best approach for usum would've just been to make it a sequel like they did with unova, the potential was all there and would've been incredible 😭
