Just My Thoughts Pt. 17
Fairy Tail Manga Reread Version
Tumblr media
Weak and unable to fight.
That how Lucy used to see herself at the start of the series. I don’t blame her. When she first joined Fairy Tail, she immediately got grouped in with some of the most powerful members. Erza, who is known as Titania, a powerful requip mage that is also a S-class and one of the top overall strongest members of the guild. She is respected and feared by many. Gray, who has been training as an ice maker mage since he was young. He had a teacher, Ur, who was known to be one of the best ice mages in the wizard world. And lastly Natsu, who Lucy is first introduced to and forms a team with. Natsu, famously known as Salamander, has powerful fire dragon slaying magic. He was taught and trained by Igneel, a dragon. Natsu is known to be strong willed and destructive.
Lucy is even impressed by the three of these members as she’s progressing her journey as a new member of Fairy Tail. The three of them are labeled as the most powerful team in the guild. No wonder Lucy doubts herself as a wizard. She witnessed their magic and compared herself with them. And in that comparison, she’s lacking since she’s not very powerful yet. Lucy, who unlike the other members, lacks any kind of training as mage. Her mother Layla, a celestial mage, would’ve been the one to train her but she died when Lucy was young.
Additionally, Lucy didn’t have any reason to train for battle. She was confined in her mansion by her father Jude who prevented her from having a life outside what he desires. Lucy didn’t get the freedom to learn and strengthen her powers but she had enough will to leave her wealthy life behind to achieve true freedom. She chose to work for her earnings rather than be given everything on a silver platter. To me, that is her true strength and power. She has the mindset of someone who knows what she wants and does her best to achieve it. She wanted more from life and I’m glad she escaped from her father.
Lucy is strong in ways that training with magic from a young age can’t comprehend. Just to be clear, I’m not saying Lucy had it the hardest when she was younger, every member of Fairy Tail and other guilds have their own story but I’m saying that Lucy didn’t get the chance to properly portray her magic.
Until my next thought 🫡

Fairy Tail
It doesn’t matter how many people criticize Fairy Tail, I will always love this anime with all my heart and all my soul. You can say it is one of the worst animes you have seen, but I think it is the best. And if you think I’m wrong, okay, I see you’re not prepared to accept that it is a beautiful and wholesome anime.
You want to see proves that it is an incredible anime?
Okay, I have them:
1. The music. Look me in the eyes and tell me Yasuharu Takanashi isn’t one of the best or the best japanese composer. I dare you. There isn’t another composer of Anime OST like Yasuharu Takanashi, because all the soundtrack of Fairy Tail is beautiful, wholesome, emotional, epic… and he makes you feel emotions that no one else can make you feel.
2. The animation. Maybe people will disagree with me on this, but for me, the art style of Hiro Mashima is one of the best (alongside Kōhei Horikoshi, Natsuki Kizu and Masashi Kishimoto). I just love his characters designs and the backgrounds. For me the way he draws the hair, the eyes, the body and everything else is great.
3. The couples. Hiro Mashima is the only mangaka that made me ship the canon/semi-canon ships (like Nalu, Gruvia, Gale, Elfever, Jerza) more that the fanon ships (like Gratsu, Graylu, Stingue…) and I think that says a lot about the couples of the mangas created by other mangakas. In Fairy Tail there isn’t one single ship toxic or forced or that doesn't make sense. Not a single one. (And I could give examples of ships from other animes that are toxic, forced or senseless, but I would never finish).
4. The girls. All of the female characters of Fairy Tail are awesome, badass and incredible. Fairy Tail is the only anime that made me love all of the female characters (like Erza, Lucy, Lisanna, Levy, Mirajane, Evergreen, Cana, Juvia, Wendy, Kinana, Yukino) and again, that says a lot. And if you don’t like (or hate) some of the girls (like Lisanna or Lucy), shame. All of them are strong, brave, kind and they don’t deserve your hate.
5. The villains. There’s nothing I love more than a villain getting a second chance, or a villain redemption, and this anime has it. Fairy Tail is a great guild that redeemed a villain (or a group of villains) in each arc, and I think that’s beautiful. That’s what Fairy Tail does, bring out the best in people (like Kageyama, Lyon and his mates, Gajeel, Juvia, Milliana, Jellal, Erza Knightwalker, Edolas Royal Army, Ultear, Meredy, Legion Corps, Flare Corona, Sabertooth, Oracion Seis, some members of the Alvarez Empire…).
6. The world. The world where Fairy Tail takes place is wonderful. It is a world where magic and wizards exist. You can join a guild that can be -is- your family and will help you every time you need it. Besides, the magic that the mages of Fairy Tail have is amazing: the Dragon Slayer magic, the Celestial Spirit magic (which is very original), the Requip magic, the Ice-Make magic…
7. The plot. Fairy Tail tells the story of a member of the Fairy Tail guild, Natsu Dragneel, that wants to find the dragon Igneel who taught him the Dragon Slayer magic. In some point he goes to the Hargeon Town where she meets Lucy. Then the story follows the adventures of Lucy, Natsu, Happy, Gray, Erza, and the rest of members of the Fairy Tail Guild. I fell in love with the anime from the beginning, but if you get bored don’t stop watching it. It would get better. I promise. You just have to wait to get to the Galuna Arc, Phantom Lord Arc or Oracion Seis Arc.
8. The humor. Fairy Tail can be serious when it has to, but it is also funny, and it brings a smile to your face even if you’re angry or sad. (Trust me, I know because it happened to me).
9. The emotions. Fairy Tail can make you feel a lot of emotions. When the characters cry, you feel sad, when the characters are angry, you are angry too, when the characters are happy, you smile thanks to them… And when the Fairy Tail guild wins, your heart fills with pride and joy (at least mine does). If there’s anything that feels better than Fairy Tail’s victories, tell me, I’ll wait for it.
10. The meaning. This is related to number 5. Fairy Tail is a kind, empathetic and compassionate guild. They try to understand the villains instead of just assuming the worst of them. They try to change the villains instead of letting them become worse persons. And even with the most evil villains, like Acnologia, they don’t talk with hate, or anger. Natsu said something (I don’t remember the exact words) to Acnologia with pity and sympathy. That just proves how human are the members of Fairy Tail. And I think Hiro Mashima wanted to show that in his manga/anime. That nobody is pure evil or irredeemable. That every character needs a second chance. That every character is capable of being good. And that the good in people is what will make a better world.
For this, and for more, Fairy Tail is, to me, the best anime. And to me, these are the reasons why Fairy Tail doesn't deserve the hate it gets.
Edit: If you hate Fairy Tail, then you are totally missing the moral of this story. It is an anime with kind, compassionate and empathetic characters that are capable of forgive villains for their bad actions and characters that are almost incapable of hate someone. Characters that sees the best in people. But after you watch that anime you criticize it? It seems like you didn't understand at all what Fairy Tail wants to teach you.

Zeref: So basically, Natsu never grew up... *very nonchalant as he sits at the bar in the guildhall*
Erza: (✿◠‿◠)*** *as tables and people are flying all around them* I'm so sorry this had to be your first Fairy Tail experience... *CRASH!* (✿◠‿◠)********* So very, very sorry... *barely restraining herself from Brawl Defusal at this point*
Zeref: *chuckles* My first experience...? You do realize I taught your guild's founders?
Erza: Y-Yes, well...!
Zeref: Not to mention, you were the ones to raze my empire. Alvarez has never been in such shambles. It's all in Invel and Ajeel's hands over there. Dimaria's retired... Brandish moved to Ishgar, apparently?
Erza: ......... *CRASH!* *SHATTER!* *SCREAMS OF "Uncle!"* (✿◠‿◠)*** You do realize you were literally asking for that ass-whooping...?
Zeref: *watches a barstool narrowly miss his nose as it flies past* Oh, I won't dispute that point. However, I'm pointing out the flaw of your apology.
Erza: Yes, well... *sees telltale lightning charging up in the atmosphere... too much to be from one mage alone* (✿◠‿◠)*** We weren't expecting you and our First Master to be sticking around, reincarnated. So technically, this IS your first experience... You're not an enemy anymore.
Zeref: Mmm... I suppose not. *watches Erza nearly bolts out of her seat once Natsu is blasted through a new hole in the ceiling* ≖‿≖ But truly... You need not apologize. You act as if this is my first rodeo with Natsu.
Erza: You knew him as a babe!!! ... And a little kid. (╬≖_≖)
Zeref: *gestures at the steady stream of lightning-flames spewing through the hole in the ceiling and nailing Laxus down below* And my original point that I labored toward...?
Erza: ......... (╬≖_≖)(╬≖_≖)(╬≖_≖) He's not... ALWAYS this bad.
Zeref: n__n *Gajeel and Natsu bash into each other midair, Dragon Force activated* He could be sweet, it's true. Well, I'm speaking of the boy who died... I assume that kind nature passed onto the Etherious Natsu, but I can't say I've had the distinct pleasure of confirming that...
Erza: ... You're exaggerating.
Zeref: He absolutely refused to listen to a word I said. It took Igneel to get him to learn reading and writing.
Erza: (╬≖_≖) I beg your pardon, but *I* taught him reading.
Zeref: And as Irene's offspring, that makes sense. :3
Erza: (╬ಠ益ಠ)I am not-
Zeref: ≖‿≖ I have several ways to confirm your lineage, Erza. It's useless burying your head in the sand.
Erza: (╬≖_≖) ... Regardless, I fail too see how my lineage has anything to do with me teaching Natsu valuable life skills.
Zeref: (❋•‿•❋) Simple. Natsu won't bring himself to heel without overwhelming force to make him respect you. Igneel knew your pains long before you ever did, but you're to be commended for guiding him down the right path.
Erza: And you couldn't "overwhelm" him on your own...? You HAD to dump him on a dragon? (╬≖_≖)
Zeref: Unfortunately, with the Curse afflicting me, the options were "love him to death" or take a compassionate Fire Dragon King up on his offer to teach Natsu. (❋•‿•❋) It fulfilled several objectives anyway.
Erza: *whole guild is shaking from everyone going all-out on each other by now* *huffs* (╬≖_≖) I just... There must be SOME way to calm him down. Surely we can't let him remain this way forever? *mostly irate about property damage and broken bones from these brawls*
Zeref: ... Well, I COULD suggest a possible stratagem. *nonchalantly sips tea*
Erza: (☉_ ☉) ......... *bolts up to her feet and Requips Purgatory Armor, brandishing a sword towards Zeref* You KNOW a way to tame his reckless tendencies?! (╯°□°)╯
Zeref: ... From a certain point of view. (❋•‿•❋) Lord knows I must do the same with Mavis whenever she gets... mischievous. Yearning for new adventures. (❋•‿•❋)
Erza: Zeref, I will not ask you again. (╬≖‿≖) What is this "stratagem"? I must know this. This could change EVERYTHING!
Zeref: Well, I certainly hope it would... Because you'll need to get...intimate with him. VERY intimate. ≖‿≖
Erza: ... Now when you say "intimate"... You mean head pets and hugs? (☉_ ☉)
Zeref: He's not a little boy anymore, Erza. ≖‿≖ You'll need to consult your "books" for those kinds of tips, I'm afraid.
Erza: Why would you even SUGGEST such debauchery?!?!?! (⊙▂⊙✖ ) Are you suggesting you and our First Master have been...?!
Zeref: Oh, we crossed that bridge over a hundred years ago, Erza. I'm told that's how August was born. ... And how his very belated siblings are on the way, as we speak.
Erza: *scandalized* (⊙▂⊙✖ ) Sh-SHAMELESS!!!!! Y-You have to be joking!!!
Zeref: *shrugs* Believe what you will. ... Just know that I'm a little sore at the moment, so I can't reel Mavis in. Apologies.
Erza: What are you...?! *whips her head around, seeing Mavis whip up a war strategy board* Who the hell is First Master going to war with?!
Zeref: No one. She's just making the brawl more strategically organized. (❋•‿•❋) ... If chaos can even be "organized". (❋•‿•❋)
Erza: *drops sword and hurries over to Mavis, waving arms frantically* F-First Master, please, no...! (⊙▂⊙✖ ) The guild is already in the red...!
Mavis: (๑╹ω╹๑ ) *tuning Erza out effortlessly* Zeref's going to need to punish me BAD for all the strategies I've got in mind for you guys...
Erza: ...
Zeref: Still sore, Erza. So. Good luck~ (❋•‿•❋)

Team Natsu
Natsu dragneel-The team leader and optimistic character of the group. Fire user
good qualities- Natsu Always tries to defend his family when he believes something is unjustified. And often times is there to be the uplifting presence when the people around him loose hope. His admirable trait is that his strength stems from his loyalty to his family and friends.
bad qualities-He goes into situations recklessly without thinking them through first. He is hare-brained about his emotional feelings towards the people he has become closest to and refuses to acknowledge that he may have caused distress. He breaks personal boundaries with his teammate Lucy heartfilia by breaking into her house and touching her body inappropriately without her permission. He has little mental character growth from what we have seen of him from the beginning of the series.
Happy- charismatic counterpart to Natsu and the group. Exceed
good qualities- He is thoughtful and makes good decision a decent amount of the time. He’s aesthetically pleasing to look at. bad qualities- lets be honest he’s a talking flying cat so the most bad he has done is stole some fish or break into lucys apartment with Natsu. besides that I almost didn’t want to add him because he is nearly irrelevant to the development of the series and mostly there as a companion to Natsu.
Erza scarlet-The mother figure / strong physical character of the group. Requip mage
Good qualities- Erza can be a really wise character when talking about her experiences, weather it be with friends or even enemies. She is able to quickly recognize what her next plan of action is. She is open about her feelings on matters during tense situations. She’s always there to offer comfort or advice.
bad qualities- To confident in the power of friendship always pulling through. When she apologizes it’s either too genuine or not genuine enough. I.e when Miliana was upset with her for forgiving Jellal so easily, she didn’t really take any of that to heart and has had a hard time showing her authentic understanding that she did something wrong that has effected her relationship with both people. This sort of happens again during the avatar arc when she offers Gray the position to go undercover in a cult. She tells him not to tell juvia, not thinking that it would screw up her state of emotions. It indeed did and when it was all over she apologized in a half insensitive tone as if she wasn’t all that guilty and would do it again if given the chance. She forgave Jellal to quickly because even though he was mind controlled by Ultear, it doesn’t change all the horrible things he has done to her and her friends. Some character growth but she has blatant issues that are not resolved.
Lucy heartfilia - The book smart / persistent main character of the group. Celestial mage
good qualities- Relatively known for being friendly and forgiving. She doesn’t back down in extensive situations even when her life is on the line. She cares a lot for her celestial spirits and if you come to her with an issue, she is open to talk about it. She’s useful in problem solving even if it falls through a little bit the first time, she masters it pretty quickly afterwards. She’s got extensive knowledge in literature and calligraphy. Power wise she has grown immensely, mentally, she is a wip but she definitely isn’t the same person from the beginning of the series. bad qualities-Thinks to little of her abilities as a mage but then contradicts herself by flaunting her powers to her enemy. Is a bit like erza in that she is ignorant to feelings sometimes i.e she was upset that natsu had left her behind with just a note, but she mostly thought about her losses and didn’t take into account that he had also lost his dad. In turn his runaway quest caused her to isolate herself from the rest of the guild. Keeping track of them only through letters, which she eventually stopped sending because everyone was doing different things. But her insecurities because of the note must of kept her from joining the rest, otherwise she wouldn’t be in a lonesome grieving state. Not that what Natsu did was right but she was definitely blaming him for all of there shared issues. Not to mention when she saw Juvia in a similar depression state she didn’t reflect on it as being similar to her own. When in reality they were both left behind in a different context but shared the same grief. I didn’t appreciate that Lucy didn’t defend Juvia during this time. It was brought back to just her and her friendship with Gray (she slapped him but it wasn’t for juvia.) She never mentioned Juvia at all In that situation even after she had seen the state she was in and knew Juvia had been sick because of it. Why couldn’t she have told him off just like natsu?. Infact she got all blushy when he apologized, it felt selfish. (Further proving that Mashimas statement about writing female characters bad was certainly true. It should also imply male characters as well.)
Wendy marvel - The young healing mage/ younger sister of the group. Air user
Good qualities- Wendy is really useful in dire situations and easily makes amends with a few of her past enemies. She is empathetic and has gained quite a bit of character growth unlike many of the other characters in fairy tail. Once she was timid and felt not useful but now she has some confidence from her experience in battle. She still has a little bit of doubts but she gets back her confidence with a little help from her friends.
bad qualities-She doesn’t really have bad qualities. But in a future post I will talk about her being a child and Mashima really being incredibly gross about it. (Yes she’s over 500 years old but he presents her still as if she is much much younger.)
Carla- The attentive counterpart to Wendy.Exceed
good qualities- she takes up for Wendy that’s it that’s the good qualities.
bad qualities-Grumpy and rude for what. Actually I get it a little bit. But she’s right in that category next to happy.
Gray fullbuster - The quick learning visual expressionist of the group. Ice make mage.
good qualities- Has strong relationships with a lot of people I.e Lyon, Erza, plus team natsu. Reliable, if you ask him to do something, he will try his hardest to get it done. Stays ‘cool’ in most situations. I need help with filling out the rest of his good traits, he’s got to have more*** help.
bad qualities-Back to being reliable, it’s a half and half trait being one of his best qualities and one of his worst. You see when he gets to being obsessed with something he will not stop going after it. It started with Deliora or however tf you spell his name, Gray wanted to be great (Gray-t) enough to surpass him for killing his family and also to surpass Ur his former master. Ok so spoiler alert Deliora is dead and melts away along with the iced shell of UR. Gray’s upset and Deliora still continues to haunt his mind until recently where he is forgotten and is comforted by Ur in an illusion state and his father acting as Deliora to get over his fear. This obsession with something new is created when Silver(his father) tells him to go after the book of E.n.d . Turns out Grays thirst for vengeance never went away, and so with his new devil slaying powers from Silver Gray starts obsessing over finding this book that produced Deliora. Of course Gray becomes a bit of a douche bag in this process, he tries to kill Natsu because he finds out his best friend is attached to the book that caused all his suffering that Natsu knew diddle about. He fiddles with Juvia saying he’ll treat her better or that he’ll give her an answer and runs off to try to get better but really is just holding off on his answer. Much like Natsu he was written with musty traits like, sexually harassing Lucy by asking her for her underwear or commenting on her outfits or her underwear. Stalking Lucy to her home, breaking into her house in an undressed state, trying to spy on women in the hot spring, groping an alchemy of Juvia without consent, putting Juvia in his mouth in her state of undress, this list is unnecessarily long. Next to zero character growth because he hasn’t changed any of his behavior. Please get them all therapy especially Gray.

JUVIA DAY 2023: Hare Hare
Gray Fullbuster, Juvia Lockser June 3, 2023 Posted: June 30, 2023
Writer’s Corner: Before June ends, I'd like to share this something I came up with for Juvia Day. A little bit late but I heard we are experiencing some Gruvia drought, so here's me trying... Enjoy!
P.S. thank you for the correction regarding Keyes/Keith, @groovyah!!!
HAPPY JUVIA DAY!
All rights reserve to Hiro Mashima, original creator.
Masterlist
---
How long has it been since Gray had been dragging his feet along the rough road? He stopped caring two towns ago. All that thinking only made the road grow wider. So, he decided it was better to keep his mouth shut behind the redhead leading their journey. All Gray wanted was just a little bit of information about the next dragon god they are trying to seal away. Was that too much to ask? He’d really like to put some timeline into this journey because, if he was being honest, Gray was not getting any younger and there were some things he wanted to do after this quest. But if he was really, really, being honest, he kinda, sorta looking forward to seeing a certain someone.
“Oh, this looks familiar.” It was Lucy who first noticed.
How she kept that cheery spirit in her voice was beyond Gray.
But, true enough, Gray was greeted by a familiar intersection, marked by shabby and wooden signage. He’d seen it far too many times not to recognize the arrow pointing to home – Magnolia.
Magnolia. Fairytail. Home.
That’s how that thought always flowed. Fairytail has always been home. Lately, however, his thoughts ended on something else.
Fairytail. Home. Juvia.
He wasn’t sure when it started. When she became the end of that train of thought. All he knew was when he thought of home, the picture of her blue waves, sparkling eyes, welcoming smile, and soft voice that called out to him lovingly, started to stake a claim on his consciousness.
Gray-sama, welcome home.
“It’s been a while since the last time.”
The Requip mage suggested they regroup at the guild and return to their journey after gathering some intel. Besides, they all needed to recuperate and deserved to have fun after the draining fight at the Labyrinth.
“Alright!” Exclaimed the fire-dragon slayer. “Let’s meet everyone!”
The anticipation brought some energy back to the travel party. So much so that they all agreed on how they looked forward to seeing their guild members. In Gray’s case, there was one particular member whose picture slowly and clearly appeared in his mind.
Gray-sama!
He probably didn’t notice it himself but the thought of seeing Juvia had its wicked way to arc the line of Gray’s lips.
...
The guild was rowdy as ever but the chaos brought in by Team Natsu, with two other dragon-slayers in tow, was most welcomed. They greeted each other with the excitement of an unexpected reunion. Yet amidst that chaos, Gray was able to cut through the cacophony of crazy and made his way to where his thoughts had lain lately – Juvia Lockser. Before he could take a step further, the water-mage was already walking toward him.
“Oh! My! Gray! Samaaaaaa!” Her every step was accentuated by her sweet greeting.
Juvia tackled him to the ground with the sheer force of her embrace. Then she said something, something about thinking so much of Gray that she had physically turned into him.
“That makes no sense!” He barked without thinking.
They were always like this. She’d say something ridiculous and he’d react like Juvia’s thinking was outside the realm of logic. He was so used to the crazy that his responses had become automated. But it’s not that she always said something impossible. His consciousness would like to correct him, however, when he suddenly remembered the fight he had with Sai.
Love Bond
His tone quickly dropped as the memory hit him like an arrow.
I transmuted your “bond”…
“No… it was that…” Gray avoided Juvia’s expectant gaze, scratching the back of his head thinking it might somehow redirect her attention away from his face.
“Could it be that you took on Juvia’s form as well?”
with the woman you’re in love with.
He didn’t want Juvia to see him fight this sudden rush of heat. So, he played it cool, like always.
“Well, it’s just…”
While he was thinking of a way to properly formulate his answer, so that she wouldn’t twist it into something out of this world, the alchemist’s words kept repeating in his head, louder by the minute.
the woman you’re in love with
Cornered, Gray mustered enough courage to take a peep at the water-mage, who was beaming at him with the smile that seemed forever imprinted on Gray’s mind. She looked like she wasn’t really waiting for an answer, content in just making conversation. That gave Gray some space to breathe. He wasn’t really sure how to explain to Juvia what the love bond alchemy was without confessing–confusing! without confusing her. But come to think of it, Juvia’s theory about why she turned into Gray that day wasn’t too far from possible.
As if sensing his intention, Juvia quickly dropped the subject. He led Gray towards the table where Natsu was already starting some commotion. The ice-mage didn’t need an invitation to join that circus. He effortlessly merged into the chaos – an old habit. Juvia was more than happy to stay out of the riotous entanglement. Glad on simply hollering for him at the sidelines – her old and still most favorite hobby. It shouldn’t come as a surprise how easily they both fell into the usual.
Gray ought to laugh at himself though. He should have realized it by now; Juvia was so attuned to his feelings that he didn’t even have to say it. Juvia just knew. She already knew.
The snow fairy toys with the women sleeping in the depths of your heart.
Gray-sama…
...
The reunion at the guild wrapped up in a tangled mess of passed-out drunks and beaten-up sobers. Good thing Gray still had full control of his faculties, and so did Juvia. He had the mindfulness of being sober enough to walk Juvia home; finally getting some alone time with her.
The walk to Fairy Hills was, in fact, far but seemed too short to recount all of Gray’s stories of his travels. He wasn’t the talkative type. Actually, he’d much rather let his fists talk than his mouth. But they’ve spent so much time apart that there were a lot of funny and incredible moments worth sharing. As Gray retold his stories, Juvia filled all the spaces with small reactions, going through the entire spectrum of emotions. When he ran out of things to say, he’d notice the few changes his absence did to Juvia – like how her hair grew a bit longer. Her bangs started to level to her eyes and framed her face a bit differently than he remembered. There was something about her, something he couldn’t pinpoint exactly. In the way she walked or spoke, it felt as if she matured in his absence. Has she grown taller? Her clothes, he noticed, were becoming tight around some areas of her body – he scolded himself at the last one because it brought back the memory of Juvina-sama stripping naked in front of him.
“You don’t look all right, Gray-sama. Is something wrong?”
Gray had to push that memory to the farthest back of his mind. He knew, even if Juvina was a spitting image of Juvia, the water-mage would never forgive her for flashing Gray. She would hunt the poor celebrity down.
Imagining what Juvia would do to her, Gray actually felt bad for Juvina-sama.
“N-nothing.”
When they reached the front of the female dormitory, Gray felt a tug of disappointment. An anxious nag that he was leaving something important. It wasn’t too big a feeling but enough to recognize what it was. And with it came another, one that told him he couldn’t wait to see her again or made him wonder when the next time would be. Team Natsu was planning to travel to Gazania and visit Sabertooth’s comprehensive library for some information. It would take Erza one more day to gather all the essentials for the long trip. After that, he wasn’t too sure when would be able to see Juvia again. The thought pushed Gray to resolve his feelings and decide to see her again if her schedule would allow it.
“Juvia, are you free tomorrow?”
“Juvia will make herself free!”
Gray panicked at Juvia’s sudden change of demeanor. And here he was, feeling regretful that she had actually matured in his absence, that maybe she’d changed into someone he wouldn’t recognize. And while it wasn’t all too new and surprising, Gray still wasn’t okay with the fact that Juvia would abandon everything for his sake.
He didn’t deserve it.
“No, I only meant…” it wasn’t like he didn’t like it, “if you’re… coincidentally if you don’t have anything to do, y’know.” It just felt like he was asking too much from her if she had to rearrange her day to accommodate him.
“Juvia can get out of anything to spend time with Gray-sama.” Seeing how her enthusiasm put Gray in an awkward position, Juvia clarified, “Since, Gray-sama will be gone for a long time again.”
“That’s…” Guilt clawed at Gray and he would have let it gnaw at him if it wasn’t for Juvia’s gentle smile and understanding gaze. So, he expelled a sigh of complete resignation. He was allowed to be selfish sometimes, wasn’t he?
“Alright, then. Let’s go out tomorrow.”
“D-d-date?!”
Gray could easily predict what would happen – and that’s carrying Juvia into the dormitory, bridal style, and explaining to the agitated swordswoman why exactly was Juvia mumbling ‘gray-sama, juvia, first date’ in a trance.
...
Gray wasn’t particularly nervous about today. He had everything in order. He wasn't a planner. Gray was the kind that lived life day by day. Went with the flow. Sailed with the tides. Nevertheless, he had a general idea of how this day would go down. He already had the checklist in his head, mentally ticking off the boxes per accomplishment.
Ask Juvia on a dat-HANG OUT. Ask Juvia to hang out while he was still in town – mentally crossed off the list. Although he initially planned on picking her up at Fairy Hills, his indiscretion the night before led him to be banned from hanging around the all-girls dormitory. While his unconscious stripping was nothing new to the Fairy Tail girls, Erza still felt the need to discipline his public exhibition. Hence, the 2-year ban. So, the two agreed to meet each other at the guild.
Gray caught himself stripping midway to the guild. He quickly ran back to find his abandoned coat and slipped back into it.
“That was close!” He exclaimed. He, at least, wanted to meet Juvia on their date HANG OUT decent.
He couldn’t help it though; the sun was unusually bright today. He shielded his eyes and quickly regretted daring to stare directly up at the sun. But he was glad. The weather was fine. More than fine actually, suitable for today’s destination – the amusement park. News about a newly opened amusement park reached beyond the borders of Magnolia. He heard about the opening while traveling back and he was curious to see it since then. He could already imagine trying all the fun rides the park boasted, adding a small bounce on his steps.
He turned the corner and jumped back. He wasn’t expecting Juvia to be so early. He, at least, wanted to be the one waiting for her but the water mage was already standing under the shade of Bake Bake Shop's awning. What really surprised Gray, making his breath hitch in his throat, was that Juvia looked different. She wasn't wearing her usual clothes. Instead, Juvia opted for a flowy skirt shorter than the one she commonly used. She paired it up with a strapless top and some high boots and completed her look with a brown puffy bonnet atop her head. Juvia had never looked this casual and c-c-cute…
He wondered how long she had been standing there. And, how long has she been fending off those losers walking up to her and trying to strike up a conversation?
His astonished eyes quickly gloomed.
But Gray had nothing to worry about. He, himself, said it, Juvia was one of the strongest mages of Fairy Tail. She defeated Keith/Keyes, one of the Demon Gates. And there was no question Juvia could have ended Invel too, a Spriggan 12. The water mage was a force to be reckoned with. He didn’t need to worry for her safety, though he was allowed to, and let himself do so every now and then. He didn’t need to worry about other men hanging around the watermage; for Juvia only had eyes for her Gray-sama.
“Sorry. Juvia is waiting for her Gray-sama.”
Gray had only seen that void in Juvia’s eyes on a few occasions. When she was still a member of Phantom Lord. When she was still the rain woman, her eyes were filled with a pointed gloom of disinterest – in life and in other people’s business. It vanished when she became part of Fairytail and when he came into her life. Sometimes, he’d entertain the illusion that he was the one who brought those sparks into her lovely blue eyes. She claimed that he did but that was too grand an illusion. So, for now, he’d settle for being the center of those ocean eyes.
“Gray-sama!”
There! There it was the brightest glimmer in her round orbs. As sparkly as the ocean being kissed by the sun. They shone because and for Gray – only for him.
Gray met her half way, approaching Juvia who scampered towards him. He waited for the tackle, like she always did when they saw each other, and if he was being honest, he wouldn’t mind it. Only to show those losers why they shouldn’t be approaching the water mage. But she settled on just beaming at him in her cute ensemble; the short skirt swaying along as she moved.
“Where is Gray-sama taking Juvia?”
He answered her smile with his cool, pompous grin. Well, he wasn’t being cocky at Juvia. Gray just wanted to show those bastards.
“You’ll see.”
Oh, if only the bastards could see Gray now, his cool, cocky grin trembling at the sight of the sign plastered at the gate – CLOSED FOR RENOVATION.
"I-I… I should have ch-ch-checked yesterday." He lamented.
AMUSEMENT PARK DATE HANG OUT - X
Juvia, who was hiding an amused smile behind one hand, was not at all disappointed. She was just happy to be spending time with Gray, just the two of them. Juvia couldn’t ask for more.
"It's alright, Gray-sama." Juvia placed a consoling hand on Gray's shoulder. "Juvia doesn't mind just walking around."
Gray turned a heel, letting Juvia push him back to the road where they came from, as he kept mumbling a dejected 'no'. Now, he was the one in a daze. Because, what a major bullcrap that was; he was really looking forward to trying the rides all day.
Juvia started a conversation to keep him from sulking. He noticed, however, that she kept fidgeting beside him. She was playing with her fingers, unsure where to keep her hand between them. Gray didn't notice himself already staring at it, at Juvia's hand. Then, he started to become conscious of his own kept inside his pants pocket. There was something off about just keeping his hands in there, which he found strange because he never noticed anything wrong about it before. So, to redress this unsettling feeling, Gray pulled one hand out of his pocket and, as he was about to reach out and seek Juvia's, something swooped in between and knocked them apart.
Of course, he had to check first if Juvia was okay before he screamed at the bastard who slipped in between them.
"Hey, watch it!"
"Sorry, mister!"
It was a kid who looked no older than Greige from Edolas.
Greige.
A mental picture of his and Juvia’s child, his cute little face and aloof eyes, tugged a string in his heart.
"Storm-chan, please wait for onii-chan!"
A young man apologized to the two mages, bowing his head so desperately that Gray thought he was going to break his back. Then, grabbed the kid and went along. He seemed troubled by his little brother but now that he carried the child in his arms, onii-chan seemed unbothered by it. They laughed together as they went their way. That’s when Gray noticed the colorful donut floater the young man had circled around his arm.
The brothers were headed to the beach.
That seems like a good idea, Gray thought.
Hit with excitement knowing today may not be a waste after all, Gray grabbed Juvia’s hand, leading her in the race to the nearest beach in town. Juvia was more than happy to be dragged along by him. How could she not when Gray never let go of her hand the entire train ride? Even when he seemed to have finally noticed it because he turned his face away and spewed something about holding hands being a normal thing.
Finally, something right was happening.
or so they thought.
Now, Gray's mood wasn't the only thing dampened by the depressing turn of events, forcing the two to find shelter from the sudden downpour. They were both soaking wet.
Way to rain on Gray's parade, quite literally.
Gray scowled at the curtain of water holding them hostage under some makeshift shed. He pushed out his hand, his palm testing the stream spilling over the roof. By doing so, he’d be able to tell if the rain was about to stop and if they could still salvage whatever remained of their day. With the strength of the rainfall, it wasn’t anytime soon. He hissed.
"This isn't Juvia's doing."
Gray, surprised at the confession, turned to Juvia with a confused look. Of course, this gloomy weather wasn't because of Juvia. His face contorted into utter confusion. How could she even assume that idea ever crossed Gray's mind?
The old Gray, the one who didn't fully understand her, would have scolded her for even entertaining those thoughts. But that version of himself was long gone now. This new Gray understood Juvia at her very core.
"I know." Was all he said, offering the sulking water mage a soft smile, one that said he would never think that. Not in a hundred years.
Because Gray-sama was the one who stopped Juvia's rain.
"Know what, to hell with this." He grabbed Juvia by the hand and pulled her out into the pouring rain. "Who says we can't have fun, eh?"
Soaking wet, the two crazy teenagers, as the onlookers anointed them, sprinted to the beach, unafraid of the strong waves hitting the shore; the sheer force of it dragged Gray and Juvia as it pulled back. They played so carelessly, splashing each other or pushing one another into the water. Then they'd share childish giggles at how silly they might have seemed. They walked on the coastal lane too, feeling the wet sand on the flat of their feet, lumps sticking between the toes.
Gray would remember something stupid Natsu said or did, or an embarrassing episode happening to Lucy. He remembered that one time when he took the last stick of grilled squid, which was meant for Erza, and thought he was going to finally meet his end. Fear crossed Juvia’s face who was absorbed with the story. Knowing the Requip Mage, Gray’s apprehensions weren’t unfounded.
Juvia would recount a few of her own stories too; telling him she went on a job with Lisanna where they had to wear funny costumes. She was a tree and Lisanna was a mountain. Gray almost broke his back laughing.
When Gray's stomach started to protest, he had the bright idea of dining al fresco. Well, they really had no other choice. No restaurant owner in their right mind would let a drenched couple dine inside. So, they settled on a small coffee table and took a shed under its large umbrella. Gray had no problem ordering shaved ice despite that weather. As much as Juvia wanted to share with him, she wouldn't survive a combination of wet clothes, rainy weather, and cold dessert. A cup of hot cocoa was the far better choice.
Juvia took a sip, the hot sweet liquid sliding from her throat and down to her stomach, warming up her insides. The water mage let out a satisfied sigh as she watched Gray, who was sitting opposite her, gulp down ice. They sat in silence, calmed by the sound of rain pelting on top of the striped parasol. While she immensely did enjoy chatty Gray, Juvia equally loved moments like this when they could just be comfortable around each other's presence. It gave her time to take notice of a few changes in Gray. He seemed to have lost some weight. She asked if he was eating all right. He said he was but all the walking and fighting burned a few pounds off of him. Juvia promised to make him a bento when she sees him off tomorrow. She said it so casually as if preparing him lunch was expected of her. Gray smiled at that, just a sober slant of the lips, and told her he’d hold her to that promise. But quickly reminded her not to give it when Natsu’s around.
“I don’t want Flamebrain to steal it or somethin’.”
They fell in total but welcomed silence again, so they could listen to the faint sound of rain hitting the umbrella. It sounded like the rain was about to end soon. Lamentably, Gray and Juvia’s time might be ending soon too. Juvia let out another sigh, this time, a bit wistful.
“What’s wrong, Juvia?”
Gray’s face was contorted into worry.
“Nothing.” She pouted. “Juvia will just miss Gray-sama.”
Imagining the days she has to spend without the presence of Gray, Juvia couldn’t help but whine, slumping herself across the table at the sullen realization that Gray-sama will be so far away again. At the other end of the world even!
She snapped back up when warmth enclosed her hand. Her heart skipped a beat when she confirmed that it was Gray’s hand gently placed over hers. She stared at Gray, who returned the look with equal guilt and plea. His eyes, softened by his silent request, gave her an assurance that he wouldn’t be long. There was promise in them that whatever happens, he’ll find his way home – to her.
Juvia didn’t even have to hear him say it. She knew. She could see it in the way he softly looked into her eyes and gently squeezed her hand. Gray had conveyed his feelings through these simple gestures far better than his words ever could. And they reached Juvia, loud and clear.
I will be back.
Juvia will wait for you, Gray-sama.
Gray opened his mouth to say something but he quickly noticed the rain retreating. He withdrew from her gaze only to confirm this suspicion. Just like the way he tested the strength of the downpour earlier, Gray extended his free hand outside the roof of the umbrella. All the while, not loosening his hold on Juvia’s hand now enclosed in his.
Totally unnecessary but very much appreciated.
“Looks like it stopped raining.”
The realization widened both their eyes; a rapturous glimmer reflected in both. As if reading each other’s minds, Gray and Juvia cheered in unison, “Let’s try wave surfing!”
The hold on each other’s arm had become so permanent that wherever they went, none of them ever let go.
Even when the two of them were brought in at the police station for indecent exposure. Because Gray and Juvia were so excited to ride the waves, now that the sun had peaked through the clouds and the weather finally agreed with them, they both unconsciously stripped down and walked around in public in their intimates.
It didn’t come as a surprise for Gray since he’d been down the station on more than one occasion, all for the same reason. He was embarrassed though, for causing Juvia to spend the night in jail on their last night together.
“Juvia doesn’t mind, Gray-sama!”
The culprit for his current state – his face turning beet red – clung to him despite the warnings from the watch guard. The heat from, he wasn’t sure if it was because of getting in jail, their intimate position together inside the very small space, or maybe both, was making him nauseous.
What tipped the scale, though, was having Erza Scarlet march down the police station to bail them both out. And the Requip Mage did not look happy. In fact, she was so mad about having to wake up in the middle of her beauty rest and come down the station that she added another year to Gray’s ban from ever setting foot at Fairy Hills.
And for Juvia, to endure a year of curfew.
“As if it’s not punishment enough for Juvia not being able to see Gray-sama in the middle of the 100 year quest.” Juvia mumbled under her breath as she miserably followed Erza home.
“You were saying somethin’?”
Juvia was one of the strongest mages of one of the strongest guilds in Fiore. She was not afraid of anything, except for that murderous glint in Erza’s brown eyes that made her feel weak, small and breakable all at the same time.
“N-not-nothing, Erza-san.”
...
As promised, Juvia brought Gray a bento lunch she woke up so early to make. They met separately ahead of the others so that, as Gray requested, he could eat it in peace, away from the nosy fire dragon slayer who would have demanded a bite or two. They walked together to Team Natsu’s meeting point and Juvia wished them well on their journey to the Sabertooth guild. She sulked at Gray’s departure despite his assurances that he would be back, whatever it took. She suggested he give her a goodbye kiss so she wouldn’t miss him that much and aggravated the swordswoman for flirting too much in the open.
Juvia settled with just waving her beloved Gray goodbye, looking as their figures grew smaller and smaller by the distance. She didn’t know how long the quest would take her beloved away. But in those times that she missed him, in those hours that she’s alone and lonely, in those moments when her desire to see the ice-mage overwhelmed her, she had yesterday and today to think back to. This feeling today, the elated bliss lingering from having to spend the whole day with Gray, playing around and just having fun, without a care in the world.
In spite of the heavy rain.
Or maybe, because of it.
Gray not only took her rain away. Yesterday, he gave a whole different meaning to it.

magic circles are different depending on the magic type. caster, holder, lost, transformation, elemental, etc. but theyre also different depending on the source of magic
a regular mage who uses the magic within them has the "standard" circle. for a small spell, its diameter is in the middle of the typical sizes, and the amount of rings within it can range from two to eight, depending on the amount of magic put into the spell. there would be dead space within the rings, but the writing and designs would still be breathtaking. gray making an ice fairy tail symbol used a small amount of magic, making a smaller-than-average magic circle with two rings. gray making an ice-make: shield would be standard size or larger, with four or more rings.
a nonmage who uses items has the smallest circle. the item has to use far more of the magic within it in order to operate. sometimes the item draws a bit too much or not enough from its reserves, making it a bit unstable for nonmage usage. it also means they run out faster, and it costs more to purchase anew than it costs to refill the magic container of an item. the biggest of these circles is maybe the diameter of a standard person's wrist. it has one ring, if any at all. the designs of the ring would be mostly empty, with just enough writing to fulfill its purpose. mystogan tried very hard to make sure people could barely see the circles of his magic, since the strongest item he had would cast a one-shot spell with maybe three rings, but a small circle.
a mage who uses items has a fluctuating circle. something like loke's rings would act more like a nonmage, with a small circle and one to three rings. something like silver celestial spirit keys would be a slightly-smaller-than-average circle and three or four rings. golden gate keys would be large, with five to eight rings, depending on both the contract between mage and spirit and the amount of magic put into the summoning. depending on the type of item used and the magic of the mage, the rings could be empty or bursting with writing, more than designs and patterns
a nonmage with a lacrima, if they survive the implant, would have the most unstable circles. ranging from smaller than their pinkie is thick to larger than a snake is long, with no rings or fifteen, with empty rings or swirls and patterns and words spilling out into the air. they are the most likely to experience fatal magic exhaustion. it's not that hard of a statistic to dominate, however, when there have only been twenty-four to ever live past the incubation state.
a mage with a lacrima implant would vary depending on how their magic is used. if they needed a lacrima to use any magic, then they would likely be similar in size and rings to a normal mage. if they could use magic already and had a lacrima to help with a different area of magic, then the circles for both could be on the upper-end of average, since lacrimas can generate magic/absorb some from the atmosphere. a mage with a lacrima implant that aids in their magic field could have massive circles with over twelve rings, all intricately written and drawn from the fusion of natural and artificial magic.
any others who can use magic, like a machia, would be similar to an item. they have a set amount of stored magic, and some can siphon magic from the environment. their circles and the rings depend on the spell used. the bigger the circle and the more the rings, the more likely the being is to destroy themselves.
these are the average, however. happy, who would count as a mage, would have one-to-three rings when using aria magic, but a circle proportional to his body and wings. despite that, the design within the rings would paint a story, with little writing. pantherlily, when transforming from small exceed form to his larger form, would have three or four rings and a large circle. there would be more writing than art, but nothing excessive, with the thin rings.
erza's requip magic has a standard sized circle, but seven thick rings, filled to the brim with writing with some sword- and armour-like art to show just how much is within her space. laxus's lacrima dragon slaying has the potential for magic circles larger than the fairy tail guildhall, more rings than a snowflake has crystals, more intricate art and writing than anything the fiore royal family could have commissioned... if he wanted to die. the amount of magic it would take for something like that is more than makarov brings together for fairy law.
the more a mage uses a spell, the more refined the circle can become. it may take a lot of magic to use a new spell, but one used for years may only take a little, transforming a large circle with plenty of empty rings to a slightly small circle with just enough thin rings for the essentials.

Autumn
Mystogan (Edolas Jellal) x Reader
Quote: “Fall in love by allowing yourself to get hurt.”
Ah, Autumn. Such a beautiful season.
But Mystogan has personally never liked the season all that much. He much prefers the rainy weather of spring over the windy weather of autumn.
Spring has always symbolized growth and new beginnings. Autumn, on the other hand, represents the oncoming end. The harvest of everything that you have already worked towards. The brief celebrations that fill your heart with so much emotion before running away with your heart. The beginning of a cold and barren season that is yet to come.
You have always liked autumn.
Mystogan wonders if you will still hold the same fondness for it after now.
---
There are many secrets that Mystogan keeps. From his family, from his guildmates and from himself.
There is not much truth shared between Mystogan and his estranged father. They live opposing lives with opposing ideals. A distance too vast between them that none dare to cross. An honest, loving and emotional connection between the two of them is best described as a pipe dream. Something one can only conjure up in the strangest of times.
As someone not from this world, Mystogan works hard to keep his identity under wraps. In truth, he has no identity here. Here he is but a figment from another world; a lost soul; a wanderer. Here he is none.
It's rare when he allows his guildmates to see him and even rarer for him to speak with them. So how can there be anything but secrets between them? They are unfamiliar with his name, his personality and his reasons for why he lives the way he does.
It is a lonely life but Mystogan has tried his best to continue pushing onwards.
He tries his best to stay determined despite the loneliness that burdens his heart and that growing empty feeling in his chest. He tries his best to stay strong and diligent but of course like everyone else in this world, he is but a human.
Humans are made to be imperfect.
Born to blunder and made to fail. Crafted knowing they will not be there forever and still left to their own devices. Humans create, love and hope. They destroy, hate and despair. Creatures made with such contradiction.
They are born perfectly imperfect, yet it is what most strive to be. It is what Mystogan strived to be. He may have even succeeded in his mission if not for the Master’s insistence for Mystogan to take a companion alongside him on his adventures and journeys.
His first option had been Laxus. The ever aggressive and temperamental Lighting mage.
There wasn’t much wrong with Laxus, but there wasn’t much to like about him either. He was argumentative and suspicious. Someone like Laxus would end up causing Mystogan too much headache and trouble. He was definitely a no go.
The second option had been Erza. The strong willed and kind hearted Requip mage.
From the get go Erza would have never been an option for Mystogan. After learning of her history with his Earth Land counterpart Mystogan was certain that he would never be able to work alongside her without some of his secrets getting revealed. There was too much shared history between the two of them. Too much unknown in a situation where trust is needed.
Aside from the strange history, Mystogan didn’t think that he would mesh well with Erza’s blunt and confrontational attitude. It was no bash against her. In fact, it was a trait that was found in all of Fairytail’s prominent members. It was like a badge of honor that they showed off to the world. Mytogan preferred a subtle approach and didn’t want the headache of having to follow someone who jumped in before looking.
Then, there was you.
(Y/n) (L/n), the S-class mage with ‘normal’ magic.
Well, there was no such thing as normal magic, but the magic you used could be considered the easiest to learn. It was a good beginner's magic that people often learned when wanting to learn better magic control. Mystogan wasn’t too sure how exactly you used your magic but knew it must have been something you were good with. Afterall, you wouldn’t have become an S-class mage if you weren’t skilled.
You were soft spoken and very go with the flow. One of Fairytail’s more passive members. You didn’t partake in many arguments and allowed insults to bounce off you.
Still, you were too much of a loose cannon.
Your actions were unpredictable when bored and Mystogan would always be left guessing what you would do next. It was always a question of if you would take control of the situation or sit back and watch the chaos as it happens in front of you. Your fighting style was smart but there was always something that left Mystogan on edge around you.
Still, you would have to do it.
Mystogan was one hundred percent certain that he would not work with Erza and didn’t exactly want to deal with Laxus’s attitude all the time.
For the most part, you didn’t bother Mystogan much. You didn’t inquire much on his personal life and kept the focus on the missions that the two of you took together. As a plus side, Mystogan really only had to take you with him when the Master deemed the difficulty of the mission too hard for a single person.
Mystogan had intended to keep the relationship between the two of you professional but had blundered horribly. Blundered, stumbled and fell.
---
Knocking at your door in the middle of the night was never something Mystogan had thought he would be doing. He had attempted to teleport himself to Porlyusica’s small abode but had ended up in the middle of Magnolia instead. Not wanting his guildmates to see him, Mystogan went to the only place he knew.
Your home.
You wouldn’t push him far if you thought he was feeling uncomfortable and you would patch him up. Your medical skills weren’t on the same level as Porlyusica’s but you knew enough to make sure that he wouldn’t die.
Your hair was tousled when you came to the door, rubbing sleep out of your eyes.
Mystogan could barely make out your words as his vision went black and he fell to the floor.
---
If someone were to ask Mystogan what happened directly after the incident he wouldn’t have been certain what to say. There was much about that night that had happened that he wasn’t all too aware of.
If someone were to ask him now what happened he really only had three words.
First he blundered on his mission.
Then he stumbled into your home.
And lastly, he fell.
---
When Mystogan awoke, the sun had been streaming in through an open window. Mystogan’s mask had been taken off and his items were propped up the corner of the room. The bed beneath him was soft and helped to dull the aching pain in his side.
Mystogan let out a groan as he attempted to sit up.
You were quick to rush to his side, gently placing a hand on his chest as you tried to ease him back down. “Don’t try to do too much too soon. Just lay down for a while.”
Mystogan felt a flush begin to creep up on him as he looked at the concern on your face.
“Do you know who I am?” Asked Mystogan.
“Pardon?”
“Know that you’ve seen me with my mask off, do you know who I am?”
You scratched the back of your neck, “you’re Mystogan… right?”
A wave of relief washed over Mystogan, “that is a name I happen to go by.”
You watched him for a moment, as if trying to see beneath his skin before finally turning away. “So do you want something to eat?”
“I don’t-” the rumbling of Mystogan’s stomach cut him off.
“I’ll make you something simple.” was your reply.
Mystogan’s voice was quiet as he said, “thanks.”
“It’s no problem.”
---
The secrets between Mystogan, his father and his guildmates are far too vast to count, but there has only been a single one that Mystogan has intentionally kept from himself. And that secret has had to deal with you.
Perhaps it was more of a denial than a secret.
---
“Do you like autumn?” Mystogan asked.
You turned away from the window, flashing Mystogan a heartstopping smile, “of course!”
Mystogan had been so taken back but the look on your face that it took him a moment to recollect his bearings. He cleared his throat, “why?”
“Because,” you answered, “it’s beautiful. Bright reds, oranges and yellow fill the earth and sky with colour you don’t see in any other season. A pale blue sky shining over you accompanied with bright and warm colours just fills me with a sense of longing, you know?”
Mystoagn shrugged, “not really.”
“I suppose different emotions are evoked by different things.” you leaned back, “so what makes you feel melancholic, Mystogan?”
“I guess returning home from a mission.”
“How so?”
“I feel as though I return from every mission a different person from who I was when I left. Slowly but surely, this world changes me. With each harsh obstacle I’ve been forced to overcome there has also been a part of me that has needed to adapt and change.” Mystogan continued, “so when it's finally time to go back, I realize just how much of me has changed from who I was when I first began this journey.”
You looked back through the window, “huh.”
Mystogan flushed, “what’s so ‘huh’ worthy?”
“I guess different emotions really are evoked by different things.” you answered.
You got a soft look in your eyes.
“Apart from the superficial beauty of the season, why do you like autumn?” Asked Mystogan.
“Well,” you smiled, “because it reminds me of you.”
“How?”
“It's the season in which we partook our first mission together.”
“Was it?”
“Of course.”
---
Now, as you stood before him, fading from Edolas' world, Mystogan felt a pang in his chest.
Leaves of orange, red and yellow swirled around you.
Autumn was truly such a pretty season. It matched you. Filled with so much hope, determination and warmth.
Mystogan doesn't think he will ever be able to look at autumn the same now. Not after spending such heartbreaking ones with you.
“Don’t you think the sky is beautiful?” You asked.
“It’s pale.” replied Mystogan.
“Pale and beautiful aren’t sonomanous, you know.”
Mystogan reflected back your warm smile, “I think it’s melancholic.”
You took a step towards him, brushing a strand of hair back. You looked at him with so much warmth that Mystogan felt as though it was being transferred from your eyes to his cheeks. Your hand was soft and your touch gentle as it lingered over Mystogan’s face.
“Make sure to take care of yourself, okay.” you smiled sadly, “make sure you don’t overwork yourself and to take breaks when you need them. Be nicer to the people you care for and show them that you care. Never let yourself be taken advantage of but know when to be nice. And especially, don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
Mystogan scoffed, “make sure that you ask for help when you need it.”
“You know, I really enjoyed our time together. You were a great partner to have. You always seemed to know exactly what I needed.” you laughed, “hopefully I’ll find another partner who knows what I need without having to ask for it”
“(Y/n).”
“Alright, I’ll try my best to ask for help when I need it.”
Mystogan’s eyes softened.
You were quickly fading away from. Slowly becoming less and less visible. The usual silence fell between the two of you. Mystogan had never really cared for silence or conversation but suddenly felt himself well up with annoyance.
He suddenly hated how everything up till now had played out. There were so many times where Mystogan wished he had done something different. There were still so many more things he wanted to do with you.
Oh how he hated autumn.
Finally, when Mystogan couldn’t take said, “I love you.”
You placed a hand on either side of his face, “open your heart up to loving someone else, too.”
Oh how he hated the end of a journey.
From here on out he would work to change the world. He didn’t want this world to change him anymore. Such a beautiful and wonderful time he had had with you. Moments he wanted to live in forever. But of course, no matter how hard we wish for it, life moves on.
Whether we plant our feet and refuse to move or fall backwards and die life pushes onwards. It is up to us to continue moving onwards if we want to live as well.
If Mystogan, Jellal, ever had a chance of doing it all over again he would have chosen to have started loving you sooner. Even if you had never loved him back he would have loved you regardless. He loved you regardless.
The air glittered around where you had been as the warmth of your hands left.
Fall in love by allowing yourself to get hurt.

Ready for some protective Erza?
I hope you enjoy!
Stop Flirting With Her! (Erza x Lucy)
If there was one thing that the people of Magnolia and the mages of Fairy Tail knew, it was to never, ever flirt with Lucy Heartfilia.
For a couple of years now, Lucy had done what nobody had been able to do: she got Titania to be her girlfriend.
Their relationship was announced at the following Grand Magic Games and Sorceror Weekly went crazy. The journalists who were sent to find out more about the couple led to the discovery of something that very few people were surprised to learn.
Erza is a protective girlfriend.
Any of the poor journalists who had to interview either of the two women made the mistake of getting too excited and showered Lucy with questions faster than she could answer. Upon seeing her girlfriend get overwhelmed with questions, both personal and not, Erza wasted no time in requipping into one of her armors and threatening the journalists. She told them to leave her girlfriend alone, or else they'll face her. This, of course, was something that none of them wanted, so the journalists bolted away.
Within two years, it became an unspoken rule that you do not flirt with Lucy, or even look at her in a way that could be mistaken for something that wasn't platonic or chaste, unless you want to almost die at the hands of Titania. And nobody was stupid enough to do that.
A lot of other people can attest to this as well.
There was a time that Sting Eucliffe, the Guild Master of Sabertooth, flirted shamelessly with Lucy and asked her on a date. That ended with Erza throwing him out of his own guildhall.
There was also that time when a fan of Lucy's offered to buy her a drink at a bar where the two women were on a date. The poor guy quickly learned a valuable lesson that day.
However, this protectiveness has proved to be a good thing many times.
For example, Erza and Lucy went on a job together shortly after the started dating. The dark mage they were fighting managed to separate them, getting Lucy alone with him. Erza, despite knowing that Lucy was a capable wizard on her own, couldn't help but worry greatly about her girlfriend. It was thanks to her strong urge to protect her girlfriend that she was able to find the two mages and saved Lucy from being captured when she was overpowred by the dark mage.
There was another time when the two women were on a bar date again. Erza had left Lucy at the bar to go to the bathroom. While she was gone, Lucy had been distracted by two men who were arguing. This made her laugh to herself due to the two men reminding her of Gray and Natsu. While she was distracted, some other man had slipped a drug into her drink. Fortunately for Lucy and unfortunately for the man, Erza was returning at this point. Upon seeing someone trying to drug her girlfriend, the red-haired woman went into a rage.
Nobody really knew if Lucy was aware of her girlfriend's protectiveness. It was difficult to believe that she was oblivious to it, but she never did show any awareness of it. She would never so much as bat an eye at her girlfriend threatening anyone who flirts with her, leading people to think that she either was oblivious to it, or she just didn't pay any mind to it.
This brings us to the current point in their relationship. Erza was walking beside Lucy was they strolled through the marketplace in Magnolia. Lucy was looking around at the stalls, hoping to find some books. Erza wasn't very interested in visiting the marketplace, they never had anything that she liked, after all, but she was nonetheless happy to come if it meant seeing her girlfriend smile.
It didn't take long for Lucy to find a stall that was selling books. Erza decided to hang back and stand a few feet behind her girlfriend, keeping an eye out for anybody who would dare to stare at Lucy.
She knew that she was protective and should probably calm down a bit, but could you blame her? Lucy was beautiful, kind, and intelligent. She was the perfect girlfriend and Erza didn't want to loss her. She hated seeing anyone flirt with her girlfriend. She also hated the idea of anybody taking advantage of or harming her girlfriend.
She had her back facing Lucy, not looking unlike a loyal bodyguard, when she heard Lucy laugh. She turned around, curious about what her girlfriend thought was funny. Her eyes widened when she caught sight of the book stall owner smiling as he told another joke, earning more laughter.
Erza's eyes narrowed into a glare, but she didn't do anything. She wanted to be sure that the man was flirting and not just telling jokes and being friendly. She watched the man closely, listening to his next words, "you like that book, yeah?"
Lucy nodded, glancing down at the book that she was holding, "I've looking for it everywhere!"
The man chuckled, "I'm not surprised. It took me months to find it. I gave it a ready a little while ago, actually. It's quite good, I highly recommend it."
Lucy grinned, "really? I heard that it was a great read!"
The man leaned closer to Lucy, causing the blonde to drop her frown and give the man a hesitant look, and causing the redhead to tense in preparation to jump into action. The man purred, "I can give it to you for free."
Lucy glanced away from him and took a step back, responding, "really?"
"Yeah. On one condition."
"W-what?"
The man hummed after he raked his eyes over Lucy's body, "you're a very beautiful young woman. I would love to take you on a date. So, if you agree to go out with me, then you can have that book for free."
Erza didn't give Lucy time to respond, rushing toward the stand. She slapped a hand on the stand and grabbed the man shirt with her other hand, growling at him, "stop flirting with her!"
The man paled and began to tremble as he stared at Erza, fear clear in his eyes. He stuttered, "I-I wasn't-"
Erza cut him off, "yes you were! I heard everything!"
The man begged, "p-please, don't hurt me! Y-You can take th-the book! Free of charge! J-just don't hurt me!"
Erza huffed before she released him and made sure Lucy had the book in her hands. Once sure that her girlfriend had the book, she wrapped her arm around the blonde's waist and lead her away, yet another poor idiot traumatized by Titania for making the mistake of flirting with her girlfriend.

MAGIC & ABILITIES
Tumblr media
Monday's magics can be classified into two categories: passive && active. her passive magics are the magics she uses subconsciously, without really having to put much thought and effort into casting (mainly the magics she uses for communication), while her active magics are something she has to actively be thinking about and casting to use, and are the magics they would classify themselves as a mage in.
PASSIVE MAGICS:
SCRIPT MAGIC: Monday's primary way of communication is by using an altered form of script magic. unlike with most script magics, where the script will perform whatever is written out, monday's scripts basically have no effect and only appear to put her thoughts into words. a good example would be if they said 'boom', instead of the script exploding like it normally would, the word just appears before vanishing with no effect. most people would find it weird to alter a magic to be effectively useless, but monday has had one too many conversations end with destruction for them not to look into altering the property of the magic.
ILLUSION MAGIC: this magic works in compliment to their script magic solely to make their scripts more visible to whoever they are talking to. this typically will manifest in the form of little speech bubbles floating by their head or whatever is the object of focus. in instances where words aren't effective, the illusions will form question marks or exclamation around their head, kinda like how they can be drawn in anime or manga. in scenarios where they need to draw attention to themselves (either good or bad) the illusions will typically look like fireworks going off to draw attention to her.
ACTIVE MAGICS:
DREAM MAGIC: A magic originating in Alvarez, dream magic allows the caster to harness an individuals dreams and pull objects, spells and on extreme occasions, people from the dream into the waking world. it often gets mistaken for a type of requip magic due to items & objects being the easiest things to pull out of dreams. this magic does come with some heavy caveats, namely being that the user cannot pull items from their own dreams, and the individual they are harnessing their dreams from has to actively be asleep. the moment the person wakes up, all items pulled from the dream vanishes, like they never existed in the first place.
DREAM WALKER: An advanced subcategory of dream magic, dream walker allows the user to enter and manipulate peoples dreams. while using this skill the caster does vanish from the waking world and is only present within the target's dream. if the dreamer is lucid dreaming, they will have equal or more control of the dream than the caster, but in most scenarios, the caster is in full control of the situation and can add or remove things to the dream. if the dreamer is awoken at any point, the caster is removed from the dream instantly, and it's a rather violent process leaving the caster dazed and in worse case scenarios injured. Monday only ever uses this magic with consent of the dreamer and uses it as a type of therapy to help people with chronic nightmares, going into them and manipulating them into something more pleasant to help the person sleep through the night
SLEEP MAGIC: Because their magic is heavily reliant on an individual being asleep to work, Monday knows the most basic forms of sleep magics. she never will put anyone to sleep involuntarily unless they are deemed as a threat, and in most situations don't disclose this as a magic they have in case they do need to incapacitate someone momentarily

Where The Stars Collide
AO3
Summary: When Team Natsu return from Edolas with Lisanna, the consequences set off a series of chain reactions across the Kingdom of Fiore, disturbing the long held peace between the wizard guilds and the Magic Council. Lucy Heartfilia is heartbroken to find that the celestial gate key of one of her oldest spirits, Aquarius, is missing, and with the help of Loke, her more-than-a-friend turned spirit, she sets off on a quest to recover it. Natsu Dragneel has had enough of waiting and joins Gajeel Redfox, Wendy Marvell, and a very, very reluctant Juvia Lockser on a mission to finally find the Dragons that left them all those years ago. At the same time, a mysterious prophecy is circulating around the town of Magnolia, tying two of Fairy Tail's strongest members and childhood sweethearts Gray Fullbuster and Cana Alberona into a tale of bitter and bloody revenge; and an ominous presence lurks on Tenrou Island, infecting the once-holy grounds. What will become of Fiore's fiercest protectors? What will happen to Fairy Tail?
prologue | 1 | 2 | TBC
1.1 : Mira
Mirajane Strauss knew better than to believe in miracles.
Magnolia was a metropolitan city soaked in more than its fair share of culture, marinating in so many different types of magic that even the most dedicated of archives couldn’t keep track of them all— celestial wizards, elemental mages, rune magic and healing spells, mimicry, puppeteering, requipping— but miracles were not one of them.
Of course there was an array of wish fulfilment and illusion magicks, tricks and trades that even the sleaziest castors knew to manipulate, but nothing could bring back someone from the dead. Nothing good anyway. Mira had long stopped peering into that part of her soul. So when she left with her brother to visit her little sister’s grave located in the cathedral church, one gloomy day, she didn’t expect to find a miracle waiting for her.
The door to the guild hall swung shut behind her and the scent of rain hesitantly kissed her nose, the smile on her face giving way to nothing. It had been 5 years since the incident. She could hear the guild members on the other side of the door recall the story in hushed tones. Lisanna would’ve turned 19 this summer. Her breath hitched and she swiped at her dry cheeks. Save your tears for the graveyard, a gentle voice in her head whispered, spring will be over soon.
A soft creaking noise and a large, warm hand on her left shoulder nudged her out of her reverie.
“Mira, we’re here.”
She blinked. The Kardia Cathedral loomed before them: located right in the heart of the town, a near fifteen minute walk from the guild hall, its four cylindrical pillars holding up the enormous green-domed building. It was one of Fiore’s more pretentious tourist traps, with billions of jewels being spent on the flattering archways, the high vaulted ceiling and the pristine marble floors, and little to nothing on its inhabitants. Any priests that survived the meagre wages never showed their faces, preferring to give sermons behind silk or wood screens to largely empty pews.
It was also where Laxus challenged Natsu and the others when he held his coupe.
“We’re here” she replied dully.
The creaking was coming from a tiny gate on the east side of the church, the path to the graveyard. Unlike her brother, Elfman, Mira wasn’t alarmed by her brief lapse of memory; she’d been forgetting more and more things lately. It always happens around this time of year, she noted, latching the gate into place.
Lisanna’s gravestone was one in a long row of similar grey, rounded tablets, inscribed with the Fairy Tail’s sigil, vertically apart from an empty stone coffin. Elfman opened a red umbrella just as a drop of rain plopped onto Mira’s head and they both stood quietly as it pattered around the two siblings, soaking their shoes and nearly all of Elfman’s hair.
Empty, because her sister disappeared right in her own two hands, she mused as she took the bouquet of lilies from her brother and placed it on the  grave’s flat, shiny surface.
Empty, because there wasn’t even a body to bury or burn, there wasn’t a single pice of her sister she could hold on to, only the memories of her bruises and the blood. So much blood. There were days where she would wake up in cold sweat, fingers wrapped around torn sheets because she couldn’t remember her sister’s face, just blood and a high pitched wailing. How could you Mira. How could you.
She didn’t know why she kept coming back here; Lisanna never had any fondness for churches and although Mira knew about the second grave that Natsu had built for her sister in a hut in the East Forest, where they had spent their childhood, she could never bring herself to visit it. Two graves were not better than one.
Mirajane looked around at the rows of headstones that surrounded her and for the first time in five long years, wondered how many of them were as hollow as their visitors.
Then she crouched down and ran her thumb along the smooth edge of the stone and sighed, her cheeks wet only from the rain: every year she told herself that the tears would come this time, and every year they never did. Both the Strauss siblings shared this strange grief. It was almost as though they were afraid that if the tears returned, Lisanna wouldn’t. If they could hold on for a little longer then maybe—
Maybe what? She’d come back? The thought was red hot and stung, sharper than a slap. Mira absentmindedly touched her cheek to check for a mark.
The bell began to toll.
Grow up Mirajane, your sister is dead. This voice sounded like her own, bitter and resentful, warped with pain and something she couldn’t name, spinning round and round in her head in time with the tolling.
Your sister is dead and it’s your fault.
It’s your fault.
It’s your fault.
It’s your fault.
It’s-
“Mira!”
Mirajane shook her head and looked up at Elfman, who stared back at her bemusedly.
Did she imagine it?
“Big Brother Elf!"
There was no way.
She turned around to see a girl running towards them, unbothered by the rain— with short white hair like the siblings, and blue eyes sparkling with tears. Mira thought she saw the distinct frames of Natsu and Erza behind the girl. What was going on?
“Mira.. I think I might be hallucinating” Elfman whispered quietly, the umbrella slipping out of his hand; it fell to the ground with little protest.
“It can’t be-” she murmured, wrapping her arms around herself. Something vicious inside of her quieted.
Five years. Five long years of waiting and waiting.
“It can’t be.” She repeated. Mira tried to clench her palms to keep them from shaking.
“Lisanna?”
The girl seemed to glow when her name was said, taking a step, two steps forward before throwing herself into the sister she hadn’t seen in so long. Mirajane didn’t realise she was crying until  she pressed her cheeks into the girl’s shoulder, dampening her warm skin- she was alive and she was warm and she was, she was-
home.
“Welcome home.”
In her twenty-two years on Earthland, that was the first miracle Mirajane Strauss had ever seen. Soon after, she would wish that it was the last.
1.2 : Lucy
Something was bothering Lucy Heartfilia.
It begun the moment they left Edolas, a persistent itch, like a stray eyelash, that prodded at her subconscious, demanding her attention. They were making their way back to the guild after Lisanna’s tearful reunion with her siblings and Lucy couldn’t shake the feeling that she was forgetting something important. Gray was the first one to notice.
“Everything okay, Lucy?” He asked as he watched her fiddle with the cloak Natsu had given her, looking mildly frustrated.
“Huh- yeah it’s probably nothing, I’m just a little shaky from the anima I guess” she shrugged, her hand immediately reaching for the pouch of keys safely tucked into her belt, and releasing a small breath of air as she confirmed their presence for the fifth time. No matter how quickly she seemed to lose her clothes each time she went on a mission, her keys seemed immune to this particular trait; a fact that Lucy was grateful for every time they fought a villain with any fondness for water. Her hair really couldn’t take more of this.
Gray nodded and ran a hand through his hair, a strange expression Lucy couldn’t pinpoint— sad? wistful? crossing his face.
“I know what you mean, Edolas was really something… different” Erza interrupted, placing an armoured hand on both of their shoulders as they neared the guild hall. She’d been quick to requip back into her usual attire when they’d landed, Lucy noted— the return back to their world seemed to have recharged most of their powers, but her emotional batteries were spent. And of course, there was that itching feeling.
Lucy was just about to unhook her pouch and start counting through all thirteen of her keys when Elfman flung open the doors and a collective gasp descended on Fairy Tail as Mirajane walked in, protectively clutching a girl they hadn’t seen in five years; a girl they all thought dead.
“There’s no way. . .”
An explosive welcome would be putting it lightly— the guild hall erupted with happiness, confusion, relief. Lisanna was alive? Lisanna was alive! How could Lisanna be alive?
Lucy was unfortunately thrust right into the flood of tears and hugs eclipsing the newly undead Edolas refugee right alongside Natsu, Erza, Gray and Wendy.
Gajeel hung back, seemingly content with whispering to his newly found Exceed instead. He caught her staring and glowered until she turned away, Lucy wondered if she’d ever figure that guy out.
Master Makarov’s face had gone pale and he muttered something under his breath; if Lucy didn’t know better she’d think it was a prayer. Lisanna extricated herself from the crowd and knelt in front of him, pulling the tiny, old man into a fierce hug. A hush fell on the room as the usually upbeat and cheerful guild master’s eyes flooded with tears, before the shouts of joy rang out louder and clearer this time.
“Lisanna’s home!”
“She’s home!”
“Natsu brought her back from the dead!”
“Not just Natsu— Erza too!”
“She’s alive!”
“My beloved Gray, you’ve finally returned! I was getting so worried!”
The last one was from Juvia Lockser. The tearful (was she crying this whole time?) water mage flung her arms around Gray much to his chagrin and the two nearly tumbled into Cana who was nursing her second barrel of mead that day.
“Watch it!” Cana snapped as she shifted the cask onto another table, sounding grumpier than usual, Lucy noticed. She’d have to make sure to ask Cana what was wrong later. But for now- Lucy managed to pull herself away from the crowd and dropped back long enough to catch her breath and watch curiously as Gray led Juvia right out the wooden doors from which they arrived.
Maybe his time in Edolas had changed the way he saw her, Lucy pondered, hands drifting to her pouch once more. It had certainly changed the way she’d seen Mystogan, the man with the face of the most wanted criminal in Earthland— and Edolas’ lost prince. Or maybe it hadn’t changed anything at all, she frowned, catching sight of a tired Wendy rubbing her red-rimmed eyes as her exceed, Carla, berated her for being un-ladylike. Maybe it had made things worse.
A flash of golden light interrupted Lucy before she could go over to comfort the girl, and she caught a glimpse of tawny gold hair before she was staring into the hazel eyes of her favourite (though she’d never admit it) Celestial Spirit. If it wasn’t for the out-of-the-blue appearance, Lucy would have realised that it was the first time she’d ever seen him without his blue-tinted sunglasses.
“Lucy!” She could instantly tell that something wasn’t right. Loke never showed up without some grand gesture accompanying him and he’d never showed up looking so distressed before.
“What’s wrong?”
“There’s no time to explain,” he shook his head and clasped her palm in his own, motioning for her to follow as he led them both behind the bar counter. Her guild mates were too caught up in the festivities to pay any attention to them.
“You have your keys, right?” She nodded and unhooked the pouch from the belt at her waist, pulling out the ring of keys that were her most prized possession. Loke quickly let go of her hand and handed her one of the many half-filled wooden goblets that lined the counter.
“I need you to summon Aquarius right away”
“With.. mead?” Lucy winced as she recalled The Water Bearer’s infamous temper when she summoned her once using water from a fish bowl— and just her temper in general.
“Don’t you think we should use normal-“
“Lucy, please.”
Lucy blinked and looked up. Loke looked the most disheveled she’d ever seen him, his trademark red tie missing, his shirt collar askew; his usual charm and charisma overshadowed by something that bordered on desperation.
“She might smell like mead for a while but otherwise she’ll be unscathed” he insisted, holding out the cup.
His voice was hoarse, as though he’d been screaming for hours and the shadows under his eyes were bruised purple; Lucy had a strong feeling he hadn’t even slept since the Edolas fight— but his panic was infecting her now, the bad feeling she’d been having all evening suddenly pooling into dread in the pit of her stomach.
“Alright” her fingers tightened on the key ring.
Lucy knew she was fortunate enough to possess contracts with 9 out of twelve of the zodiac spirits at this point, with Aries, Scorpio and Gemini being the latest additions to the team, but Aquarius had been with her the longest.
Their relationship often reminded her of Wendy and Carla’s, Aquarius was always correcting her, prodding at her, pointing out all her mistakes, but when it came down to it, Lucy knew Aquarius would protect her in a heartbeat. It’s why she rarely called on her strongest spirit; Aquarius would protect her a little too well.
That, and it was hard to find many water bodies that she’d consider appealing.
“Aries, Sagittarius, Virgo.. wait that’s not right-” Lucy frowned and held the ring up closer to her face.
“Lucy?”
“Hold on- Virgo, Leo, Taurus.. no, no this can’t be happening!”
Loke’s face lost all colour. The goblet clattered to the floor, splashing both their feet with lukewarm amber liquid.
“The key.. it’s—“ her voice rose with panic.
gone.
“Loke!”
Lucy barely made it in time to catch him before his knees buckled, and he fainted in her arms.
1.3 : Juvia
Juvia Lockser was convinced that nothing in the world mattered more than love.
After all, it was love that had saved her from falling and shattering into a million little raindrops. It was love that helped her find a new home after her guild was destroyed. It was love that had showed her the sun for the first time.
And it was minor technicality really, that her love hadn’t admitted that he loved her back.. yet.
But Juvia had nothing if not faith. She’d read enough novels to know that enough crying and near-death situations (both of which were easy to find) could solve the romantic tension between any pair of lovebirds, no matter how unlikely they were: ‘the bad boy and the good girl’, ‘the socialite and the socially awkward’, ‘the billionaire and the.. wait didn’t she do this one already?’
Either way, the book would insist that the main couple always ended up together, even if it took a contrived turn of events to make it that way, and while Juvia lost all interest in it after they became an item, she too wanted that kind of heart-racing romance— and she’d cry the whole ocean if it meant she could have it.
That’s why she was caught completely off guard when her beloved Gray Fullbuster pulled her aside and told her that it’s over.
“W-What?” She must’ve been hearing things; there’s no way that he would-
“I don’t like you like that, and I feel like I’ve led you on by not making it clear enough,” Gray sighed running a hand through his already mussed black hair. It had barely been ten minutes into their arrival when he’d asked her to join him outside, a few steps away from the brightly lit guild hall, and Juvia should’ve known that something was off immediately.
Gray was missing a shirt (not new) and covered in budding bruises (also not new), but his shoulders were slouched and his eyes were glazed over, as though he was somewhere else entirely. From what Juvia could tell, they’d all just traveled back from some kind of magic-draining endeavour, she couldn’t remember much from that morning, had they taken a job?
“You’re not leading me on, darling I don’t—“
“See, that’s what I mean,” he said, irritation creeping into his voice, “can’t you just stop with all that darling crap? We’re not together.”
Juvia flinched as a raindrop struck her bare shoulder and trickled down her upper back. She didn’t understand where it had come from, the sky was clear just a moment ago.
Gray pulled her towards a nearby kiosk to shelter from the incoming downpour, and they settled onto two unopened barrels. Juvia’s breath came out in white puffs, she hadn’t realised how cold it had gotten, and Gray’s entire torso was streaked with rain. Although he must’ve been freezing, his expression hadn’t shifted at all; serious and stern, only the shadows under his eyes betraying his exhaustion.
“If you just gave me a chance,” she began, reaching out to touch his cheek, to close the distance between them and pretend his words didn’t hurt; all fated couples had arguments before they got together officially -  this was probably just her moment to confess her undying love; she could still turn this around.. right?
“Juvia,” she blinked as he looked at her bemusedly, eyes unreadable as ever; holding her wrist an inch away from his face, “You don’t deserve this.”
“You deserve to be with someone who loves you back.”
Juvia felt as though she would faint with relief. Is that what this was all about?
Her beloved Gray didn’t hate her, he just felt unworthy of her love. She’d come across this trope so many times that she was almost disappointed in herself for not seeing it sooner. Of course he wasn’t rejecting her, he would never even think to do such a thing. Their love was too vast and too deep for him to simply cast aside with a few words. He was probably just embarrassed that he couldn’t be as forward about his affections as she was.
“Oh Gray,” she said, her voice softening as he quickly dropped her hand and crossed both his own over the black guild mark on his chest, “You don’t have to worry about me.”
Gray blinked.
“You know that I’ll wait for you. I’ll wait as long as it takes to make you love me back,” she gushed, “I can’t believe that all this time you were worried about me and my feelings, you wouldn’t do that if you didn’t care for me at least a little.”
“Uh-“ he opened his mouth to protest, but Juvia was on a roll.
“Oh I really did pick the perfect man didn’t I?” She squealed, completely oblivious to his growing discomfort, “You’re so sweet and attentive and tortured and cold—“
“I wouldn’t say tortured—“
“And you’re right we should definitely take it slow, I’ll hold off on the nicknames for now, after all we don’t want our future children to think we’re not cool enough to be their parents or some equally ridiculous notion.”
“Future children?!” Gray spluttered in disbelief.
“And you care so much about hurting my feelings because you think you can’t give me the love I deserve but it’s not true because no one else but you make me feel-“
“Juvia!” She winced as he took hold of her shoulders, his icy fingers digging into her pale skin, and met his frustrated look with one of total bewilderment. Had she done something wrong?
“Sorry,” he let go of her immediately, pulling away and putting his head in his hands instead. An uncomfortable silence saturated the conversation and Juvia thought she could hear the faint chirping of crickets in the distance. A few seconds passed and then—
“Have you ever thought about my feelings?” The words came out quiet and matter-of-fact, as though he had suppressed the urge to say it many times over.
The ground could have disappeared underneath her feet at that moment and Juvia wouldn’t have noticed. His feelings? He’d saved her, his sworn enemy, in their very first encounter hadn’t he? And he’d welcomed her into his guild— he wouldn’t have done the same for just anyone, would he?
“Gray, I’m sorry if I did something to make you dislike me,” Juvia said, her voice barely a whisper, almost lost in the plinkplinkplink of the rain spilling from the tiled roof onto the pavement.
“I can fix it. If you tell me what it is, I won’t do it again.”
The silence returned, thick enough that she could feel it bore into her skull and pound at her temples. Silence like soaked cotton filling her lungs; silence that clung to her skin, heavy enough to drown in.
“-if I love someone else..” he said finally.
Gray looked at her then and Juvia realised that she’d never heard such weariness in his voice before.
“What?”
“And if I love someone else? Will you fix that too?”
Juvia had only ever known what it was like to drown once. It happened when she was six years old and the orphanage had taken them on a trip to the community pool as a treat.
The children were warned to stay away from the deep end everyone duly obliged, until it begun to rain. She couldn’t remember if she’d slipped or if someone had pushed her but the water was suddenly everywhere. In her ears, in her nose, it was suffocating her, dragging her down down down into its icy depths, the pressure in her lungs building and building, until she woke up retching in a medical ward.
The doctors promised her that they were able to get to her in time, and there was no cause for worry but Juvia never quite stopped believing that every drop of water she swallowed would somehow drip drip drip its way into her chest and fill her up until there was no room for anything else. That she would die a true Rain Woman. That was, of course, up till now, up until Gray.
Until she realised that this wasn’t her love story after all.
“You know what, forget it.” he mumbled, dispelling both the echoes of her past and the damp stillness they’d been sitting in, with his defeated sigh.
“You’re.. in love with someone else?”
“It doesn’t matter anymore.”
Gray’s eyes were cloudy again, his gaze fixated on something behind her shoulder but when she turned around all she saw were a few displaced barrels and a deck of playing cards atop one of them. There was no one else here. It was just her and him and the rain falling down around them as witness.
“But- but I love you, Gray”
Juvia hated her voice then. She hated how it cracked and spilled onto the pavement, mixing with the rain and the remnants of her love. She hated how it made her sound petulant, like a spoiled child in a store and how it couldn’t stop the tears that streaked down her face - desperate, hot, shameful tears that wouldn’t cease.
“I’m sorry,” he said, absentmindedly running a thumb over the shiny silver cross at his neck.
“I didn’t want to hurt you.”
“I see,” she said dully, emotion draining from of her words, her eyes. A sharp ache began to gnaw at her ribcage.
For the first time since she’d met him, Juvia wondered if he was telling the truth. Gray didn’t meet her gaze as he stood up and walked back into the rainy streets of Magnolia City.
Away from the kiosk, away from the guild and away from her; leaving the rain woman alone with a heart she’d shattered all on her own.

Note
I don’t know if you had heard of the Anime Fairy Tail,
So.. here is Erza Scarlet if you don’t know who she is, she is also called “Titania”
Her personality: Erza is a very strict person, often criticizing the bad behavior and habits of the other guild members, causing most of them to apologize, fearing that they might invoke her wrath. She is also very impatient, disliking people who don't answer her questions quickly enough. This, coupled with her own tragic childhood, caused many of her guildmates to avoid her due to her social awkwardness.
So Erza’s particular form of Requip is called The Knight. She is noted for her ability to Requip extremely fast and is the only sword Mage known to be capable of Requipping weapons and armor while fighting, she is said to have over 100 different armors, something which made her and her immense strength well known throughout her place of residence.
Also I imagine a crossover between Yanqing and Erza, he would really admire her and asked her to be his Teacher-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've heard of it before yes! She sounds rather cool and pretty :0
If Yanqing were to meet and find out about her strength, I'd say he'd also ask. Esp if she knows how to use swords

A gruvia one shot I posted on my Wattpad but I’ll post it here too! :)
Synopsis: Juvia comes home everyday with bruises and markings. What happens when Gray finds out why?
Tumblr media
Fanart: NOT MINE CREDITS TO THE OWNER
——————————
It was late at night, and Gray stood at the door of the water mage's room, while she continued to brush her long wavy blue hair. Her hair was the color of ocean waves gleaming in the sunlight. Gray just stood outside Juvia's door, watching her from the little crack of the door he managed to get without her hearing. Now you might be wondering, was this really Gray? What was he doing stalking the water mage as she continued her nightly routine? Yes, indeed the ice mage was watching the water mage, but not for the reason it seemed.
Juvia had been staying at Gray's house for a few weeks so far, due to Fairy Hill's getting destroyed. You might ask how? Well it was due to non other than the Fairy Tail guilds famous Natsu Dragneel. Let's just say, he asked to borrow Juvia's kitchen for...cooking purposes. Knowing that the water mage wouldn't deny his request, he marched right into the kitchen and ended up burning the whole place down. Everyone was safe and okay but the dorms...not so much.
Erza, Levy, and Wendy decided to stay at Natsu's house, and of course Erza threaten Natsu if he denied their request. While Natsu and Happy now stayed with Lucy. Natsu's house was a pretty small and couldn't fit more than 2 people. They made adjustments for Wendy but it wasn't both enough for Juvia to stay as well. So you guess it, Juvia moved in with Gray.
Gray denied wanting the water mage to stay at his house but Erza wouldn't put up with it.
"You two have shared a place before so I wouldn't think it would be a problem, right?" Erza had told Gray in a threatening voice. Not wanting to get the requip mage riled up, he agreed to it immediately. It was true the water mage and ice mage shared a house before, but it ended up not being something Gray wanted to remember. Remembering it just made him feel even more guilty than he already did.
Gray thought living with Juvia would mean having her cling onto him 24/7, but it actually wasn't too bad. She respected his boundaries, even when he denied sharing a room with her. She would make breakfast for the two of them and they would eat together. After that they walk to the guild together. Gray at first refused to walk together thinking everyone would get the wrong idea, but after a while he didn't mind the company.
Gray watched as the water mage stood up from her desk, she turned the other way revealing a bruise on her arm which made Gray's heart sink at the look of it. The purple discoloration on her pale skin was enough to make a person face the other direction. For the past week Juvia had been coming home with bruises and red markings on her skin. Juvia tried to hide the bruises with her magic but Gray caught her one day when she returned from a mission at night covered in bruises. She reassured him saying it was because she tripped, but Gray could see it was definitely not that, he didn't know what it was.
Gray watched as Juvia noticed the bruise on her arm and winced when touching it. She quickly used her magic to cover it up before heading to bed. Gray slowly turned around and walked away. He walked back to his room and sat on his bed thinking. Not only had Juvia started coming home with bruises but she also had been distant with him. It wasn't like he didn't mind her being less clingy right? But after a while, he started to think of Juvia's antics apart of his daily life. Without her bubbly and cheerful personality circling him 24/7, it felt wrong. Gray shook his head trying to focus.
"Tomorrow." He thought, "I will make her tell me what's going on."
With that, he let sleep overtake him.
—————————
The next morning, Gray woke up hoping to see Juvia before she left. She had been leaving earlier than usual, avoiding to walk with him to the guild. Juvia ended up leaving him breakfast on his counter.
He walked into Juvia's room to find it empty. He groaned annoyed that he missed his shot. It was only 7:00 in the morning, the guild wouldn't usually fill up until 8:00. He wondered why she decided to leave this early. Non the less she did indeed leave breakfast for him on the counter, a note was also placed neatly next to the plate of food. Gray picked it up.
Juvia hopes Gray-sama likes her breakfast she cooked up while Gray-sama was sleeping! If Gray-sama doesn't like it there's cereal in the cabinets. Juvia is sorry for leaving so early but she has some things to do today! She won't arrive back for a while.
~ Juvia <3
Gray chuckled at the note, but also was curious at what she was doing going out so early. It was none of his business so he didn't want to think much of it. Gray placed the note back in its spot and started to eat the food Juvia made for him. He always loved Juvia's cooking so there wouldn't have been a reason for him not to like what she made for him that morning. After he was done, he decided to head to the guild to try and see if he could find Juvia, he couldn't stand not knowing why she had those bruises.
————————
Gray entered the guild at 7:55 to see that most of the guild was already there. He saw Mira giving out orders at the bar while Erza ate her strawberry cake. He continued to look around the guild but couldn't spot the water mage anywhere.
"Dammit...she left already." Gray said to himself, pissed that he got here too late.
"Gray? You ok?" He heard someone say behind him. He turned around to see Lucy with Natsu and Happy next to her.
"I'm fine, sorry for blocking your way." He moved out of the way to let the others in.
"You seemed like you were looking around for someone." Happy exclaimed with raised eyebrows. (AN: DOES HE EVEN HAVE ANY EYEBROWS!?)
"I wasn't looking around for anyone ok?" Gray snapped. Lucy gave him a knowing look.
"Oh by the way, where's Juvia? Shouldn't she be with you?"
"Yeah ain't she always clinging onto you?" "Juvia loves Gray-sama~" OW!" Lucy smacked Natsu on the back of his head indicating for him to be quiet.
"She left early. I don't know where she is now though." Gray bluntly said not wanting to show he was worried about her.
"Juvia? Oh she left on a mission, a day long and far mission." Mira called out from the bar.
"What!? I mean- tch whatever." Gray quickly covered for himself.
"Looks like Ice Princess is worried for his girl! HAHAHAHAHHAHAH-"*thunk* Gray punched Natsu in the chest while glaring at him.
"What did you call me flame brain!?"
"Why did you punch me freezer!?"
The two started battling in the guild and soon enough, it turned out into an all guild brawl.
—————————
"Thank you!"
Juvia thanked the old lady as she left the orphanage. She had left on a job earlier that morning to help out the old lady with her children. The old lady was sweet and deeply cared about the children, Juvia wished that the orphanage she was put in would've been just as amazing.
Juvia clutched the bag of jewels in her hand as she made her way through the village. She felt bad that she left her Gray-sama alone that morning but she needed to get money as they were losing food, having an extra person in the house meant that Gray's food supply would need to double. Juvia knew if she told Gray why she left he would scold her. He already told her that he would take care of the food supply and everything and for her to stay out of it. But Juvia didn't want to be a burden so she decided to leave before he woke up, to avoid any questions.
Juvia was about to reach the train station when a burning sensation came from the back of her neck. She felt herself go pale as her heart dropped to her stomach.
"It's him..." She thought to herself. She felt the marking glow and burn on her neck the closer he got closer to her. She started to quicken her pace hoping to reach the train station so someone could help her, but of course fate had other plans...
And a hand covered her mouth, dragging her to an ally way.
—————————
Gray stood at his front door tapping his foot on the wooden floor. He felt himself grow inpatient as the front door continued to stay closed. It was now pitch black outside and past midnight, Juvia had still not returned home. After a few more minutes Gray sighed.
"Why am I even here? She's fine she can handle herself." Gray reassured himself walking away, only to stop midway and walk right back to where he was standing.
"She's been ignoring me for days though, I have the right to know why, we live together dammit!" He told himself continuing to stand patiently.
He stood there for another hour, drifting off to sleep at times while continuing to stand. He told himself he'll stay here till morning if he had to, he felt too impatient and worried about the water mage, even though he wouldn't admit it to himself. He felt himself jerk his eyes open when he heard the door knob shake. He quickly composed himself, trying to act serious as the door opened revealing the water mage. Juvia stepped into the house closing the door behind her. She dropped the bag of jewels on the ground and quickly tried to use to her magic to cover the bruises before she went upstairs. But she didn't realize Gray was standing in front of the door the whole time...
"Ahem." Gray turned the lights on making the water mage shriek. Gray's eyes widened as he stared at the Juvia in the light. He didn't realize how bad her bruises actually were until he saw her. There were now fresh bruises on her leg and face.
"G-Gray-sama!? Juvia thought Gray-sama would be sleeping by now!" She scrambled to cover the rest of the bruises but Gray's glare stopped her midway.
"What were you doing out this late? And why are you covered in bruises!?" Juvia simply tried to ignore his questions and gave Gray a nervous pat on his shoulder while walking past him.
"Gray-sama should go to bed, he looks exhausted."
"Juvia's sorry you have to worry about her." Juvia tried to keep her tears in as she looked away from Gray. But Gray wasn't playing with her game.
He quickly faced her direction and forcefully grabbed Juvia's wrist, making her gasp.
"Juvia...why are you covered in bruises." He asked in more of a demanding voice than a questioning one. She felt herself tense up, her face paled in the process. She gulped, her body shaking in the process.
"I-I...I-I Can Juvia please go to bed Gray-sama? She doesn't want to talk about it." She pleaded. Gray was pissed already for having to wait for her for hours. He hated how she would say she's okay but it was obvious she wasn't. He tightened his grip on her wrist making her wince.
"Dammit Juvia tell me what's wrong!" He shouted at her.
And then she broke.
She forcefully yanked her wrist out of his grasp. She backed away from Gray and towards the front door with a look a horror in her eyes. But Gray could tell it wasn't towards him, but it seemed like she was remembering something else, something she didn't want to.
"Juvia..." He calmly said trying to go closer to her but she backed away even further.
"No! Don't come closer to Juvia! Stay away! Juvia won't let you hurt her!" She cried running outside.
"Wait Juvia! Where are you-"
"-going...?" Once he exited the door, he saw no sign of the water mage. He scolded himself for acting like a bitch.
"Great way to handle it Fullbuster..." He quickly grabbed his coat and rushed outside, trying to find where Juvia had run off to.
—————————
"Fuck..."
Gray slumped onto the bar of the guild laying his head on the counter. He felt horrible, mentally and physically. He stayed up the rest of the night trying to find Juvia but to no avail. Who knew the water mage was an expert at hide and seek. He didn't know how far she could've even gone, he left minutes after she did so she couldn't have, right?
"Sheesh what's up with you ice freak?" Natsu exclaimed appearing next to Gray.
"You look like a mix sleep deprived and beat up by Erza." Happy snickered.
"Anything wrong Gray? And where's Juvia?" Erza asks appearing with Lucy and Wendy.
"I know I look horrible you flame head, and no nothing's wrong cause Juvia disappearing last night is definitively not serious." Gray sarcastically rolled his eyes.
"WHAT!?" The whole guild screamed.
Erza grabbed Gray by the collar while glaring at him, "Quit the sarcasm and explain Gray."
"Tch will you chill!? I was going to!" Erza put Gray down. He explained what happened last night and in a matter of minutes, the whole guild started glaring at him.
"You did what!?" This time Gajeel grabbed Gray from the collar and glared at him. Juvia was his closest friend and somewhat of a sister to him. If anything ever happened to him, Gajeel knew he wouldn't know what to do.
"Gray you idiot! What were you thinking!? You don't just grab a girl who is obviously not ok and start demanding answers from them!" Lucy swatted Gray in the head.
"That's harsh even for someone as cold as you man." Natsu shook his head.
"You better find her you son of a cold bitch or I'll kill you on the spot." Gajeel threatened making Gray tense.
"Ok I will! I will! You guys are acting like I'm happy about this!"
"I wouldn't be surprised if you were, aren't you always saying how she's annoying the crap outta you? But then some days you act as if you like her too! That's not good Gray you should give her a clear answer." Lucy rolled her eyes at Gray.
"I-I- fine! I get it, it's my mistake. But it's not my fault she's so good at hiding! I looked all over the place. It's like she disappeared from the face of the Earth or got kidnapped."
"You said she was covered in bruises right?" Levy questioned Gray while he nodded, "She could be in trouble guys...we should do something."
"Well fighting about it won't fix it, we need to look harder."
"Agreed, everyone search the whole town."
And that's what they did.
But even after hours, they still couldn't find Juvia.
"Ok I see what you mean now Gray, this girl really is hard to find..." Lucy admitted slumping on to a table in exhaustion. They spent hours looking for Juvia but she was nowhere in Magnolia. They even asked other guilds if they saw her but came up empty.
"Arg, I'm such an idiot..." Gray grabbed a chair in anger wanting to break it to pieces.
"Yeah no shit sherlock."
"You're not helping Natsu!" Lucy said towards her boyfriend in a warning tone.
"Well it's not my fault this ice freak made his girl run away."
"Well this," Gray waved his arms around to indicate the situation. "wouldn't have happened if you didn't burn down Fairy Hills!"
"Wait so this is now my fault!?" Natsu sarcastically chuckled before glaring at his rival. "I wasn't the one acting like an idiotic who can't even get his feelings together!"
"Just because you and Lucy confessed and got together before Juvia and I doesn't mean you're any smarter!" Lucy gaped when she heard Gray say that, he basically confessed his feelings.
"Oh so now he admits his love, well doesn't it seem a bit too late you freezer!?"
"Say again flame head?!"
"Boys boys! Chill out would y'a!? This isn't the time for brawling."
"But he started it!" They said in unison pointing to each other.
"Did not!"
"You did!"
"Stop repeating what I say!"
"You want at it!?" The two rivals started brawling in the middle of the guild while everyone sweatdropped.
Suddenly, the whole guild went silent as the doors opened up, revealing the one person they'd been looking for the whole day.
"Juvia!"
But she wasn't the same...
She looked dead...
Bruises filled her entire body in splotches. Her pale white skin was now barely evident against the red and purple which covers it. Blood looked as if it was seeping out of her eyes, her whole body seemed the shake as it entered the guild. Her hair looked messy and strangled. Her hat and parts of her clothes were ripped and missing. Gray felt his heart sickly drop to his stomach making it twist and twist in circles.
Gray didn't notice, but his feet start to quicken in pace as he pushed his guild members out of the way. All he could think about right there and then was Juvia. Juvia felt her legs give out, her body suddenly felt like a weight she couldn't hold up and she felt herself falling to the floor. But her body didn't impact with the floor. She felt herself fall into someone else's arms, warm, strong arms that made her believe, it was going to be ok.
"There there, I got you..." Gray said softly to Juvia.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I acted like a jerk...I was just worried and I don't even have an excuse to why I acted the way I did, I'm just horrible at this." He chuckled sadly remembering all the horrible things he's done to this girl in the past.
"H-He...d-don't make him hurt Juvia again!" She cried while hugging Gray even tighter. This confused everyone even more.
"Him? What does she mean by that?" Wendy questioned her friends who shrugged. Carla and Happy flew over and gasped when they looked at Juvia's back.
"Uh...Gray...you better see this." Carla said making Gray raise his eyebrows.
"See what-" He got cut off as his breath hitched in his throat.
Right there, on Juvia's back, carved in by a knife, was the words that made his worry for her turn into anger. Without saying he dashed out of the guild, leaving Juvia in the hands of Lucy.
"What the hell Gray!? Why'd he leave all of a sudden- oh my god!" She shrieked when she saw what was written on Juvia's back.
"She's mine now, Fullbuster...?" Natsu read out loud questioning it at the end.
"So I guess Gray was right about her getting kidnapped, but who do this?" Mira asked surprised.
The suddenly heard a growl coming from behind them, and then a shriek of a girl. They saw Gajeel with a crushed up glass bottle in his hand and Levy next to him with wide eyes.
"That bastard, what is he doing messing with Juvia!?" Gajeel marched up right to Juvia.
"Rain women, tell me when this all started!"
"A-A few weeks ago! After Juvia and Gray-sama went on that mission."
"Wait I'm confused, so he knows who did this to Juvia?" Lisanna asked Lucy. She shrugged.
"I guess so, I don't have a clue though."
"That bastard! What is he doing back in town..." Gajeel started crushing tables and chairs in sight.
"Gajeel! You're gonna break the whole guild apart!" Levy started trying to pry his hands off the table.
"I'm confused." Natsu bluntly stated.
"Would you mind explaining? You have us all lost." Mirajane turned to Gajeel.
"I can recognize that sent from miles away, it's Juvia's ex's, Bora."
"Ex!?" Lucy questioned surprised. "I didn't know Juvia dated someone before."
"I remember she told me about that guy when we were partners on Tenrou Island." Lisanna popped in.
"Apparently he only used her to try and get back into Phantom Lord. And then he would start hitting her if she made it rain. After a while he got fed up with the rain and dumped her, saying she was too gloomy and useless." Lisanna explained whole everyone listened closely.
"Well we can't just stand here? We have to go teach that guy a lesson!" Lucy said with triumph. Just then Erza stopped her.
"I think Gray has it handled."
"Titania is right, that ice prick better give that bastard a beating." Gajeel grumbled.
"For now, let's take Juvia to the infirmary."
—————————————
"I was expecting to see you, after what I did to that water cutie of yours." Gray felt himself seething with anger as he found himself face to face with the man who hurt Juvia.
"I told you to leave her alone." Gray said in a threatening voice.
"Hm, really?"
—————————
"You leave her alone got that?" Gray glared at the man as he cackled, turning around to leave.
"Sure I'll leave you alone."
—————————
"I don't recall myself saying I would leave her alone." Bora smirked while twirling Juvia's hat around his finger, knowing he got the slayer good. Gray only felt his anger rise when he saw that Bora had Juvia's hat in possession.
Dammit!
"Stay away from Juvia, and we won't have any problems." Gray felt his devil slayer markings appear as his slayer magic filled his body. He didn't understand, why was he so mad? Why did he feel so enraged.
Was it cause Juvia was his comrade?
Or...
Was it cause she was something more?
He wanted to believe it was the first one...
But deep down, he knew it was the second...
"Now that wouldn't be any fun would it? Besides, it was fun seeing that water cutie's pale body with all those bruises, and don't get me started on those curves, the curves I had so much fun staring at. Maybe I'll go harder on her next time, get deeper in there-."
Gray snapped.
He went ballistic, his face screamed death. All he wanted to do was kill this man. Kill the man for talking like that about a woman, the woman he most cared about. He felt disgusted, how could this man talk about someone so sinisterly? Before he knew it, he have Bora exactly what he deserved.
Gray marched up to a half conscious Bora and grabbed him by the collar, his eyes livid.
"Mess with her again, and I'll give you something even worse than death." With that he snatched the hat and threw Bora against a wall, ensuring he wouldn't wake up any time soon.
————————————
"Where is she?" Gray immediately asked Lucy once he entered the guild.
"Oh you're back! We were about to go on a search mission cause you were gone for so long-."
"Where is she Lucy." Gray demanded.
"She's in infirmary, resting, Wendy healed her wounds and...the scars on her back." Lucy quickly responded as Gray brushed past her.
He entered the infirmary and spotted Wendy by Juvia's bedside. She looked exhausted but who wouldn't? Juvia had been beat up by that bastard for who knows how many weeks. And she came home with just as much wounds.
Wendy spotted Gray and immediately shot up from her spot and bowed sadly.
"I-I healed most of the scars! But some of the wounds I couldn't fully heal so she'll have to rest." Gray patted the girl on the head, telling her it was fine. She quickly marched out of there. Once she was gone, Gray sat beside Juvia. She was unconscious. She was sweating a bit and she had a pained face plastered. Gray grabbed her hand a squeezed it.
"I-I got your hat back." He placed the hat next to the bed, relaxing when her pained expression vanished.
"I took care of him, he won't hurt you anymore."
"I don't know what to say, why didn't you tell me? Did you think I was going to be mad? Of course I was mad at that bastard but I wouldn't have been mad at you."
"Don't you trust me enough to tell me when something's bothering you or when you're in trouble?"
"What am I saying? I've been nothing but a jerk to you since we met. Why would you trust me after everything I did?" Gray put his head in his other hand. Just then, he felt Juvia squeeze his other hand. He looked up to see the water mage smiling back at him.
"Oh Gray, Juvia doesn't not trust you. She just didn't want to burden you with her own problem, she thought she could handle it, but Bora threatened her if she told anyone he would hurt the guild. She just didn't want to put anyone else in danger, but maybe it went a bit too far..." Juvia winced.
"A bit is an understatement." Gray said chuckling sadly.
"Yeah..."
"Juvia...look at me." She looked at him.
"Never think of yourself as a burden to the guild, you're family to us, if you're in trouble we have your back, that's what we stand for." Gray brushed a piece of hair behind her ear and sighed.
"I love you Juvia. I love you so much that it feels scary. I love you so much..." He trailed off.
"But I'm not sure I'm ready." Juvia smiled at Gray, leaning over to give a kiss on his cheek.
"Juvia- no I love you too Gray, and I love you so much that, I trust you to make the right choice. I'll be here for you no matter what, and when you're ready, I'll still be here, waiting, by your side." Gray smiled back.
"Thank you Juvia..."

DELPHINIUM CITY.
Location. in the South of Fiore, directly South of the mountains in the middle of the country. West of Hargeon, South East to the National Council of Fiore’s branch and Crocus. It lies north on the southern river that goes directly to the south ocean.
Geography.it lives right on a river, which generates a lot of trade as it’s accessible via ship. The city is in a slightly hilly area and leads to the plains before the mountains.
Population. ~34,500 / Mage population: ~25%
Regional nobility. The current liege lords of Delphinium city are the Calyx family. The Calyx family have traditionally lived in the mountain countryside of Delphinium, but were given the city and the surrounding land in a marriage dowry from the Royal Family 105 years ago when a Princess married into the family. Since then, the family has resided within Delphinium, but their countryside estate is still in existence and is used for more formal occasions by the family.
History. In ancient times, this was a seat of power for mages who made attempts at protecting people from the threat of dragons and later, demons. And both during that sweet in between time when both were big dangers. There was said to be a magical device that could be activated by the mages of the city and act as a shield but such a device was stolen, lost to time, or never existed. It is not agreed upon history, as the ancient era was filled with a lot of fighting and historical accounts can be differing.
It is said that the protection of mages was why the city got its name, not just from the fact that the flower grows freely around.
The city has acted as a little hub of more defensive magic as well as a place for healers to come together in Fiore. It hosts a yearly presentation of newly researched magic and the city has been known to be very financially friendly for mages of all kinds. They also have Delphinium Museum that details the mysteries and arguments about the city’s much debated history.
With the attack of Alvarez, the city found need to try and make use of the old time defenses. Thankfully, a lot of them did work and the city’s own mages who lived there helped defend the city with the help of the Calyx family. The head of the family at the time, Lady Geraldine Calyx, was a requip mage who alone killed a squad of Alvarez foot soliders with her ranged weapons.
However, when Universe One was activated, not even the ancient systems could find a way to avoid that. The city’s walls easily crumbled in the disjointed ness and they lost a significant portion of their mage population in the fighting that followed, Lady Geraldine one of them.
In the year that has followed, a memorial is currently petitioned to remember those who lost their lives defending their city. The city is one of the last to be fully rebuilt as they are having some difficulties in doing it the right way. An insistence made by the the young Lord Veolt Calyx who has suddenly taken his mother’s place as Head of the Family.
They have also seen an influx of people going to Anisama, as there are now even more people with magic induced trauma.
Landscape & Infrastructure. The city has high walls that are modeled somewhat like the flower as well, standing tall and proud now even after all these years. The walls seem to have a naturally occurring property that heals its own cracks when they are made, making the walls ever lasting.
Thanks to this cement compound, a lot of the structures are very old, which gives the city an almost vintage feel to it. It certainly helps with tourism.
Yet it has been modernized, their train station is massive and it connects to the docks of the city, making trade and travel a lot easier. These buildings and structures were not made with the ancient cement, but with more modern techniques.
However, they do not still have the old recipe fully written down in their records. Over the centuries, it has been lost. That has created an issue with rebuilding. Some parts of the city and their walls are still compromised. As well as some old buildings and structures.
Popular Places in Delphinium
Amisana. A healing organization, which deals with magic induced trauma. Whether physical or mental, they heal those injuries. Their team of healers are all well educated from around the world and their work is officially sanctioned by the Magical Council as of their founding in x784.
Delphinium Museum. The historical museum of Delphinium city. It details the city’s own history as well as that of Fiore and sometimes touch upon the other nations. The museum has come under fire recently for the now former curator, Kiwali Metto, who spoke outright against the royal government for the recent Alvarez attack. She was fired and it was claimed to be unrelated to the comments and that only made the flames of scandal hotter.
Prue’s Magnificent Showcase. A renowned magical art museum founded by Prudence Kyga. It not only celebrates historical magical art, but holds galleries of up and coming artists and already established magical ones.
Garden of Hope. A giant garden in the middle of the city, boasting Delphiniums of course. It is free to walk through and there are picnic tables and gazebos littered around the place, inviting people to spend time there. It has no entry fee and it is taken cared of by the city itself, funded by the resident’s tax dollars. It used to be a giant coliseum in the middle of the city, but when the Calyx family took over they repurposed the area for the garden.
Delphinium’s Arcanic Academy. The old mage’s school that has excited since ancient times. It is more of an arcane library now, with ancient and old texts. It is owned by the Calyx family now but mostly open to the public. Some areas are not as open and access needs to be granted. They can teach the basics of magic, with permission from the High Council as well as certain branches of magic which depends entirely on the Dean. The late Lady Geraldine learned her requip here and the current lord graduated from here.
University of Fiore. A public university of Fiore, handled mostly by the royal government as it falls under their jurisdiction. The campus is in the south of town and trolleys tend to take students from the train station to the campus. Most students move to Delphinium.
Arcane Delight. A famous nightclub of Delphinium and the highlight of their nightlife district. People want to be seen here so that others can talk about the fact that they have been here. Some famous celebrity sightings here include Hibiki Lates.

“It’s always nice to come back to your smile.” Erza muses, eyes set to Mirajane from across the table. “I can see you’ve put a lot of love into the guildhall this week.”
@ofsavior
"It's good to see you, too, Erza." Mira's smile was beaming as she greeted her guild mate, and not only because she was genuinely happy to see that her old rival had returned home safely from her last job. She had actually put in lots of effort into the guild hall's appearance this week - not like she didn't tend to its appearance and cleanliness anyway, but she had put in just that much more effort this week and it made her feel joy that other people noticed. That Erza noticed.
Their times of rivalry were long gone. Sometimes it would spark back up, albeit it was never with any ill intent. Had it ever been, really? Hadn't it ever been feelings she didn't completely understand? Not a matter she intended to ponder on right now. Though whenever old patterns would shine through it was fun and amusing and good to let off steam every once in a while. That, and Mirajane genuinely enjoyed the challenge and trying to one-up the powerful requip mage.
Tumblr media
"I'm happy you noticed! The preparations for the next celebration are in full swing. I'm glad that you could make it back in time, Erza. It would have been a shame if you hadn't been able to celebrate along with the rest of us." Mirajane smiled sweetly, slightly tilting her head as she focused her navy gaze on the redhead. A celebration with anybody missing was just not the same as one where everybody was present.
And Erza's absence especially never went unnoticed, after all.
