K wait because I just had the best mfing Rhys thought...hear me out.

so reader and him have grown up together or whatever, they know each other, they hate each other. it's always been like this, never have been friends, always snipping at each other and shit.

after everything with tam and rhy losing his family, he's just not in the mood anymore. he has no fam, he doens't have the energy to fight and push you away anymore, no matter how much you egg him on.

but, there's a point where he's become so unlike himself, quiet except for public appearances, he's retreated into himself and you want to pull him out of that funk, you need to see the fire in his eyes, the stars are all gone, and the only way you know how is to fight with him.

you can see you're irritating him, saying anything you can that you know can and will hurt him, get him to scream or yell or say something sarcastic back. yes, you can see it brewing inside of him, the monster awakening, the high lord that he never wanted to be but has always known he had to show.

and rhys' eyes are dark, so dark there's hardly a hint of color, and he says in a voice so quiet that it feels like your undoing.
