This 1928 home in Elkhart, Indiana was renovated, and it's not over-the-top modern, it's kind of whimsical. 3bds, 3ba, $595K.
Enter through the large enclosed sunporch. Looking at the columns outside, it may have originally been an open porch.
The 2 sitting rooms were opened up to form one gigantic, L-shaped space. The original fireplace is still here, and I wish they would've shown it. Columns were kept in place.
In the dining room, the original china cabinet was left untouched.
I like the cheery light kitchen. The mint green cabinets are so pretty and this house was built in the late 20s, but it looks more Victorian, so they used touches of Art Deco, like the wallpaper, b/c the 20s were totally Art Deco.
Off to the side of the large kitchen, next to the stairs, they put comfy chairs & a table in front of the doors to the patio.
The primary bedroom has some interesting architectural features, Art Deco wallpaper, and doors to a deck. The home is very open, so I'm wondering if that's a sound absorbing ceiling.
A large matching bath.
The stairs look Victorian with the railing and tin ceiling.
This room in the turret is so pretty. Love the flooring.
Nice shower room.
Love this black & white bedroom and it has a wonderful daybed nook.
Bath #3 is lovely, too. So cheerful and bright.
The basement isn't finished, but it's bright and not creepy.
There's a very large deck on the back of the house, plus a roof-top deck, and a 1 car garage with what looks like a room.
The lot is .34 acre and is on the St. Joseph River.

hm, is that microphone even connected to anything? 🤔🤨
[ID: A dramatic portrait in black and purple of Cecil Palmer in Night Vale episode 48. He stands within a purple frame, holding a mic and Khoshekh, and looks forward with three glowing purple eyes. A black angel with many eyes and a glitch effect of them hovers behind him. Around them is the text: “He is holding… a cat.” End ID]

renovations, director's commentary please? 🥺
you know, i know people make fun of disney adults but i might be a disney adult. mostly because i wasn't a disney kid, so to me princess movies are kind of novel.
which is all to say, frozen 2 hit me hard.
i liked frozen a lot when it first came out. i liked it even more when i watched it in subsequent years, so i was pretty jazzed about the sequel. i saw it with my roommate and loved every second of it even though it was a hot mess (affectionate). i think the moment that took me from "this is a neat movie" to "i've got to do something about this" is near the end when kristoff hugs elsa. my brain went nuclear about that for reasons i don't understand.
this is another fic i wrote mostly in 2019 and have no notes for and no memory of. what was up with 2019 and me pounding out these stories and not remembering the process at all?
so far on these commentaries, i've talked about fics that were mostly well received. the meanest comments i got on them were either unmemorable or simply pedantic (there are three universal truths: death, taxes, and if you post a star wars fanfic someone will correct you in the comments), but i remember getting some nasty comments on this one. i think i deleted them, and in the grand scheme of things i don't think they were very bad (i don't even remember what they said now so they couldn't have been that bad), but it did harsh my buzz for a bit which is why i set the last chapter down for six months.
arendelle in this fic is based heavily on manzanita, and even though i'm not from the pacific northwest, at the time i wrote this i was very into winter beachcore aesthetic.
coming up with the conflict was really tough, because whatever anna and kristoff were going through had to be divorce-worthy bad, but also salvageable, but also empathetic. i didn't want anyone to read this fic and think anna and kristoff weren't good for each other. so i thought, what could break up two people who are perfect for each other?
and then i thought, capitalism!
elsa and kristoff came pretty easily to me but anna, who enters the story later, was hard to pin down. writing this fic made me realize that when you write an OT3, especially OT3 with HEA, you're really writing four ships and four resolutions (the three pairs and all three together). so it took a long time to tie up all the threads. so it was really kind of a plot gauntlet for me.
i'm proud of this fic for the most part. i was really happy with it while drafting it, but the rude comments did color my perspective and made me think it wasn't very good. writing it was a happy memory though, and i'm glad it found its audience. i go through disney phases every couple years, so i'm hoping to come back to this canon (or maybe tangled?) eventually.

Thanks to curieously for sending this colorful historic 1904 farmhouse in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Look at how the red tin roof reflects on the 2nd floor. Big lemonade porch on the front, for idyllic summer days. Nicely renovated in 1994, it has 5bds, 5.5ba, $1.395M.
A sunny yellow door greets guests.
I don't know if they stripped the walls back to the sticks, but I like the look of the warm wood color.
This is a maximalist-decor home. I like beamed ceilings and the coppery tile behind the wood stove.
They opened a wall to make it open concept between the dining & living rooms.
Guest powder room.
A family room with blue wainscoting and a wood burning stove is located outside the kitchen.
The kitchen has nice cabinetry, wood block counters, and a cool copper farm sink.
There is so much furniture in this house, I notice that some of it doesn't even fit, overlapping into doorways and windows.
There's another room in here with gray wainscoting. So much stuff, though.
Updated full bath on the main floor.
Bright yellow main floor primary bedroom with en-suite.
2nd level landing has a desk and sitting area.
Child's bedroom off the landing.
Another bath off the sitting area.
This bedroom has an en-suite.
Guest room with en-suite. This is a very large home.
On the back of the home is a deck w/a hot tub.
The lot measures .76 acres.

Renovations
Memories are wrecked then rearranged
By a heart-sick son,
Wearing the full weight of silence
In the shell of a kitchen
-
Its pristine body
Chimes the same weary songs
As his worn poloroids,
Filled with throngs of ghosts
-
The soul of Sunday morning’s
Still resounds in the walls
Beneath the colorless world
He has forged for himself
-
The new paint peels away
In the quietest moments,
When the past must preach
Of all the luxuries he’s buried

A row of identical late Victorian era terrace houses c.1886, in varying states of repair, but all retain the original cast iron balcony railings and trim known as "Sydney Lace". There were about 90 different designs to choose from by 1890, after which they fell out of fashion. Stanmore.
