The reason Bella didn't fit in with people her own age had fucking nothing to do with her being 'Meant to be a vampire" and everything to do with the fact that she was her Mother's parent growing up. She was parentified young and never got the chance to actually be a child. And she never will because now she's a mother to a child that will never grow past eighteen.

Charlie's death and Bella on the run.
November 13, 2004 (Saturday)
Charlie and Bella were on a weekend hunting trip in northern New Hampshire. At the same time, two nomads (a male and a female) were hunting in the area. Mid-hunt, they caught the scent of Bella's blood. The venom in Bella's bloodstream off puts her scent just enough so that it is unappetizing to vampires who are desensitized to it. But to the two nomads, Bella was mouth watering.
The nomads changed course. Charlie heard them approach before Bella did. They broke the line of trees, black eyes wild with thirst, to see that one vampire stood between them and their meal. Charlie told Bella to run. She did and Charlie bought her time to escape. Bella ran for 11 miles to the Conneticut river. Charlie had tought her that water can wash away a scent. Bella dove in and swam south. She swam for over 200 miles (vamp speed) and came up when she reached the Conneticut border. It had been around 19 hours since the nomads attacked.
Charlie had an old residence in Enfield. Bella snuck away from the river and found Charlie's old house. She showered, changed clothes, and booked the next flight to Wyoming. Bella had spent her early childhood in a house hidden away in Wind River Range. A mountain range in Wyoming where Charlie had raised her and taught her to control her hybrid abilities. When they moved away from that home, Bella and Charlie agreed that if they ever got seperated, they would meet up at that house.
Back in New Hampshire, the nomads killed Charlie and began hunting down the escaped human. They lost her scent at the river. The male was determined to find her. This human was clearly more than she appeared and he loved a challenge.
November 14, 2004 (Sunday)
It was a 4 hour flight from Connecticut to Wyoming. When Bella reached her childhood home, the sun had set. Weeks go by, and there was been no word from Charlie. Bella ventured out of the house long enough to hunt. She hoped that Charlie would show up, but her instincts told her she'd never see her dad again.
January 7, 2005 (Friday)
New year's had come and gone and Bella had to accept that Charlie was dead. And that she was on her own. That day, the male nomad found Bella. This time he stopped to talk before attacking. He introduced himself as James, told Bella his mate was Victoria and confirmed what Bella suspected. That Charlie was gone. He tormented her with a description of how he and Victoria ripped him apart. James then attacked Bella. She fought him off and managed to cripple him by tearing off part of his leg from the knee down. Bella ran from the mountains to the nearest river. The Green River. She swam south for 3 days and only came up for air when she absolutely needed to. She swam the rivers length until it met the Colorado River. From there she ran for five days to Downey, California. She stopped to hunt along the way.
January 15, 2005 (Saturday)
Downey was where Bella's mom grew up. Bella had spent some time there with her human grandmother. After Gran Marie died, Charlie bought her house. At Gran's house Bella showered, changed clothes, and pack some family heirlooms before heading back out. Bella rented a car and drove for 3 hours to Phoenix, Arizona. By this point Bella had figured that James must be a gifted tracker. She didn't know how his gift worked, but she had a plan to stay ahead of him.
In Phoenix, Bella rents a hotel room and puts her plan into motion. Her plan is to create false trails for James to follow. Bella buys several one way plane tickets with her various credit cards. She buys tickets for random places in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Bella then opens up a new bank account and transfers money from some of Charlie's accounts. She withdrew cash and used it to rent a car. Bella picked a random spot on the map. Forks, Washington. A small town hidden under a near constant cloud of rain.
January 17, 2005 (Monday)
Bella left Phoenix. She drove 10 hours to Seattle, Washington. In Seattle she bought a used 1953 red Chevy Pickup that had been restored and sold to the dealership. It wasn't fast or flashy, but it would blend in a small town. She drove for 3 hours to Forks. Bella arrived in Forks at nightfall where she bought a small house. She paid a upfront with cash and settled into her room.
January 18, 2005 (Tuesday)
Word about Forks' newest resident had already spread. Bella went into town to buy some essentials and answered questions from curious town folk. Over the following week, Bella fabricated a story about how she was an emancipated minor living on her own. And that she was living on money inherited from her late father and late grandparents. Bella also enrolled herself in the local high school. A couple of times Bella caught the scent of vampires. It was faded and Bella didn't recognize it has James or Victoria. Bella could only hope that the scent was old.
January 25, 2005 (Tuesday)
It was Bella's first day at Forks High School. And her first encounter with the Cullen family. Bella had an afternoon Biology class with Edythe Cullen whom she was absolutely smitten with. As far as first days go, this one was alright. Or at least it was until Tyler's van hit a patch of ice wrong and spun out of control towards Bella. Bella was forced to use her abilities to move out of the van's path.

What I'm hoping for in regards to Midnight Sun (even if I'm not an Edward Cullen or Bella Swan fan) if the hopes that we'llcat least see a little of Edward's POV from Breaking Dawn.
Yeah NOT a Twilight book fan I can never make it past the first chapter. The reason(s) I'm attached to the Twilight books are as follows in order from Best to the few other things I like.
1. Leah Clearwater
2. Emmett McCarty Cullen
3. Lauren Mallory
4. Harry Clearwater
5. Sue Clearwater
6. Jessica Stanley
7. Renee Dwyer
8. Tyler's Van
And an honorable mention goes to
-Charlie Swan (film version)
The book version of Charlie started out fine until he basically condoned Jacob forcing a kiss on Bella in Eclipse.

Anonymous said: A character study of Renee? Written by mod Cassandra
She had never known of her father, but was told by her mother that he had been a cheating drunkard. She didn’t ask further questions; she should have, now that she thought about it, but back then she had been too content with the Californian sun and lifestyle Marie Higginbotham had dedicated her life towards acquiring. Yet she was constantly defying her mother in ways both little and big. She painted all the walls, which had previously been a dull white, with murals often compared to those of Pissarro. She knew what her mother thought of her with her bubbly laugh and her resolute refusal to be tied down to anything. Marie thought her own daughter as nothing more than someone who would, one day, be crushed by life like she was.
So, the moment she could, she ran. She left no note, just a whiff of perfume behind her, and fled to her best friend’s apartment. She worked several jobs to pay it off and greatly enjoyed painting the walls, buying little potted plants to spruce up the decor. She often exasperated her roommate by constantly forgetting to pay rent and leaving her paintbrushes everywhere, though was never kicked out. She lived like this until one day she agreed to travel across the Pacific Coast with her cousin. Immediately packing her bags, she left, not knowing what would happen to her if her friend rented the space to someone else. But with the wind whipping through her hair as she drove down the highway, she couldn’t care less.
That trip was the most memorable event of her life. She tried new foods, visited new sites, flirted with new (and cuter) boys. She spent more money during those three months than she ever had before, and it was with a new dress and tattoo on her when she met Charlie Swan on that sandy beach in summer. Her heart had skipped a beat before stopping altogether when he turned and smiled at her, lifting the can of Coca-Cola that he had in his hand. She went with him towards the ocean and didn’t look back.
She ended up staying for a lot longer than she’d thought. She even willingly returned to his side after telling her friend she no longer needed the space in her apartment. She married him in secret, with only five guests, but she was happy in her white dress and flower crown with her love by her side. Her mother wasn’t there to walk her down the aisle, but it didn’t matter, not when Charlie smiled at her like that and she had the city of Forks to explore. She constantly flitted between jobs - high school teacher, cashier, eventually waitress - as her husband (her husband!) toiled away at the police station. Though she wished that they had more time together, she knew he adored her; it was a pleasant contrast to the shrill, damaging remarks of her mother.
It was six months into her marriage when she fell pregnant with a girl. Charlie had fallen to his knees and kissed her belly, then her lips; she was laughing as they came up with a long list of names together. He had to go back to work to deal with a new case but returned as often as he could to help her decorate the nursery and be by her side as she learned to knit and deal with her emotions when her mother sent her a quilt. But she was not content with her life now. She had stayed in Forks too long. The rainy atmosphere, constant cloud over her head (literal and metaphorical) was too much for her. Charlie was always with his parents now as they battled cancer. She hated it. She wanted time with her husband, yet the most she could do was to call him over the phone. His voice was never going to be enough for her. Trapped within her marriage and the child in her womb, she wanted out.
“Let me go, Charlie. If you won’t go, don’t trap me here.”

I've been trying to remember if this was ever shown in the books or films but I can't recall, were Bella's grandparents ever mentioned? Any family at all? Charlie was born in Forks but I don't think we ever hear about Bella going to see them. At their wedding the only members of her family I remember being there were Charlie and Renee. In the dream she had in NM she thought she saw her gran but it was just her older self. Are they all dead? She's only 17 I'd think at least one would be alive.
I think the only one mentioned in the actual books is Renee’s mother, Marie Higginbotham (this was why Renee kept “Swan” until she married Phil and became Renee Dwyer, and where Bella got her middle name). Renee’s parents divorced when she was little and it sounds like her dad was not in the picture after that. She and her mom had a difficult relationship, but after she left Charlie, she moved in with Marie for awhile, who doted on Bella. Renee and Bella eventually moved away on their own, but Bella certainly knew grandma Marie. Marie died when Bella was 11 or 12.
Charlie’s parents are a sob story. Helen and Geoffrey Swan thought they would never have children. Then, in their mid forties, Charlie was born, and they were thrilled. But they were old parents, so their health began to deteriorate when Charlie was just a young adult and he had to take care of them--I think one had severe arthritis that limited their mobility, and the other had Alzheimer's. This was why Charlie couldn’t leave Forks when Renee was depressed and had to get out: he had to stay and take care of his parents. Both parents died within a few years of Renee leaving, but by then she had moved on and Charlie just decided to stay put.
I’m willing to bet cold hard cash money that 90% of that was only invented for the Guide, though. I don’t think most of that canon existed when the books were actually written.
So all her known grandparents are dead, and it seems like Marie was the only grandparent she ever knew at all. However, Renee’s dad’s fate is unclear and he may possibly be still alive.
I think SM wanted to keep Bella’s family small. Renee and Charlie are both only children (unless Renee’s dad had a second family later, but that’s irrelevant to Bella). The grandparents are dead. There are no aunts or uncles or cousins or siblings to leave behind. It’s just Charlie, Renee, and Phil, and she keeps Charlie through a nonsensical loophole. SM made sure Bella had very few people she’d have to “give up” and then . . . didn’t really make her give up two major ones (Charlie, Jacob) at all.

SoG Extra: Growing Up
Whats up, this is about Bella’s Childhood a little. Mostly its just a vignette about her time with her grandma dying. I just banged this out because I’m in my feelings about Bella’s childhood right now. This is very much not happy.
Warnings for: Child abuse and neglect as well as character death.
"Childhood is not from birth to a certain age and at a certain age
The child is grown, and puts away childish things.
Childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies. "'[Edna St. Vincent Millay]
Bella found the poem comforting and heavy all at once. It was her favorite and a grim reminder that she had stopped being a child at the tender age of 8.
Wearing a grey dress, she'd stared at the picture of her grandmother Marie Higginbotham. The lines of her face and bright green eyes had always been a welcome place for Bella to come to while her Mother Renee vanished for whole weeks on trips with her friends. Grandma taught Bella to tie her laces, wash her face, brush her teeth and that a good book was good as an adventure across the world.
Around Renee she'd been harsh and sometimes it was scary but Bella knew it was because her mother never did the dishes or tossed the trash when it was her turn. Bella had once tried to save her mother from a shouting and tossed the trash for her, but Grandma had known like magic and only got madder at Renee.
Renee called her mother a batty old lion, but Bella thought her grandma a big old kitty cat when they were in the kitchen. Bella sucking on a spoon of batter while her Grandma sliced potatoes for the stew.
Grandma was dead now though.
Bella knew that meant she'd be gone away to sleep forever, at least that's what Katie from her classroom had said. Katie was better at spelling than Bella so she was clearly the smarter of the two and so Bella believed it.
In her little grey dress she didn't wonder why Grandma was so tired she'd sleep forever. She was always running around doing laundry and dishes and making food and saying, "Never watch T.V. Isabella, If you do you'll never get your chores done."
Then she'd laugh and laugh and tell Bella to watch Sesame Street for a little while before it was time for them to do her math homework.
Grandma needed to sleep so Bella wasn't too angry at her for it. She just wished she'd been warned, that someone had told her that Grandma was going and wouldn't be coming back. And while Bella hadn't truly understood it all at the time, she was forced to.
Because with Grandma no longer around, Bella found that there was nobody to do the chores. Renee continued on, forgetting to take out the trash and make dinner. Sometimes she'd even just go away all night like Grandma was still just in the other room.
It started with Bella making herself a can of soup every night for a week until all the cans of soup were gone. So Bella ate the chili beans. Then at breakfast she just made herself a ham and bread with mayo until the bread ran out. As she always did, each time something ran out, she went to scrawl it as best she could on the table with the notepad grandma always took when they went shopping. When she found the notebook wasn't there, she plucked a page from her school supplies, wrote down what they needed, and folded it up. Tucking the paper's corner under the plate with all the keys when it kept falling.
Then there were no more cans, and Renee hadn't even looked at the list at all. Renee was out for a 'dance' class for the night and Bella stared at the cupboard with only canned corn.
With an aching stomach Bella truly realized then what it meant that her Grandma had died. So Bella cast off her childish things, she put aside her time to watch Sesame Street and grew up.

The Swan family + special abilities
Charlie Swan (vampire) † - Mental Shield
As a human, Charlie was reserved, strong-minded, and had difficulty expressing his thoughts. As a vampire, these traits evolved into a mental shield. The ability to protect his mind from mental powers. Though the power is potent, it is limited as Charlie could only protect his mind.
Renée Higginbotham Swan (gifted human) † - Thought Projection (rudimentary)
Renée's gift presented it's self as rough form of thought projection. Renée was expressive and outgoing. These traits manifested as a subconscious ability to influence others with her thoughts. Charlie theorized that if Renée had become a vampire, her gift would've evolved into a type of thought projection that would allow her to implant her thoughts into the minds of others. Given that Renée was sociable, Charlie thought that Renée would've been able to project into multiple minds at once.
Bella Swan (vampire-human hybrid) - Mental Shield Projection
Bella's gift is blend of her parents abilities. She has a powerful mental shield and can project into the minds of others. Bella has the ability to protect her mind from mental abilities just like Charlie. Unlike Charlie, Bella is able to protect others. She does so by projecting a shield into someone's mind.

im reading life and death and like...why the hell couldnt charlie and renee have been gender swapped, too?? like... charlotte swan, beleaguered and overworked cop, and flighty ex husband ron or w/e higginbotham (fr why is that renee's last name) who took her kid and ditched her bc he was bored of a stable stay-at-home dad life, there are ppl like that!! ig smeyer was afraid to have a deadbeat dad or smth???
it explains why she's so virulently supportive of carine - theyre both working moms with high stress, oddly-scheduled jobs where women are often devalued and disrespected!!! it gives her another layer to charlie's "gruff estranged parent who sees estranged hypermature child for the first time in years and can't totally relate to them or make up for lost time but they still get along and love each other" shtick, and smeyer's derision of the renee character makes sense: this is a deadbeat dad who took his son away from a stable loving parent bc he was bored of stability and love!!

The Swan-Dwyer Horniness Gene
Hypothesis: Bella is a chaotic versatile bi/monsterfucker. Its inherited.
Observation: Shell fuck anything. Shes ready to bottom for Rose and Alice. Shell top Edward and Jacob. Shes a risk taker and ready to get it on forever. Just depends on the mood. Shows signs of getting what she wants. Doesnt take no for an answer. Lingerie game lit. Also, shes only attracted to vampires and werewolves.
Factor one: Charlie Swan is a chaotic power bottom bisexual. Horny for the mother of two werewolves. Mustace game lit. And the father of one. Hes fully ready to bottom for both. Adversely, ready to bottom for the Vampire Doctor and his beautiful wife....(perhaps, a link to Bellas choice of Edward is linked to the full-monster status of Carlisle and Esme.)
Renee Higginbotham-Dwyer, chaotic Cougar Top. Possibly Pan. Most likely Bi. Creative and artsy. Does whatever she wants and married a Minor League Baseball player. All indications lead to she pulls the punches in her relationships. Thirsted over all at the wedding, regardless of species. Thong game lit.
Experiment: reading twilight saga and official guide. Watches movies.
Result: Bella really is That Bitch.
Side effects, also correlates in the Virgin Vampire Defilement Death equation. (See Michael Corvin and Hoyt Fortenberry...)

“𝓣𝓲𝓶𝓮 𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓔𝔁𝓹𝓵𝓪𝓲𝓷 – 𝓙𝓪𝓷𝓮 𝓐𝓾𝓼𝓽𝓮𝓷”
★ ★ 𝔽𝕝𝕒𝕤𝕙𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕜 𝕋𝕨𝕠 𝕐𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤 ★ ★
Last night I knew mom wasn’t happy with me. She wished I were like other teenagers, partying, sneaking out of home, breaking curfew. But when I reminded her that I didn’t have a curfew, it was kind of difficult for me to break a rule which had never been set for me. She pulled at her hair and started to pace back and forth in the kitchen.
All I wanted to do is be by myself while she went out to see #Phil for dinner. And all she wanted was for me to be out ‘Living my life.’.
Telling her that I was tired and wanted to go to bed at nine thirty with my copy of To Kill a Mocking bird was not an option in her eyes.
“Mom I am fifteen years old. Normal fifteen-year-olds are fed, showered and doing the same as what I am doing right now. And I promise, it’s all I want to do.” I’d told her but she would not believe me. Until I had to lie and say that I was having stomach cramps and I was in a lot of pain.
A tub of Ben and Jerry's phish food, a spoon and a heat pad were offered and accepted before I was allowed out of her sight. That was until I was pulled out of my bed half asleep at eleven o’clock at night and dragged out of the house.
Our journey had started without any explanation. I was sat in the passenger side of my mother’s car. Rubbing my eyes and trying to comb my fingers through my messy damp hair. Asked to hold on to, two flasks of coffee, a bag full of snacks, a couple of blankets and pillows, with a Linkin Park CD in the player, we hit the road.
It didn’t matter that this was a school night to her, I could see that look in #Renee’s eyes, it was the one that told me there was no stopping whatever plan she’d come up with so there really was no point fighting it.
We sang, drank the coffee as we passed the;
ᴛʜᴀɴᴋ ʏᴏᴜ ꜰᴏʀ ᴠɪꜱɪᴛɪɴɢ ᴘʜᴏᴇɴɪx ᴀᴢ sign, heading north up the I-17.
“Mom aren’t you going to tell me where we are going?” I asked her with a yawn, my head resting on the window as I looked up at the clear night sky and all the stars that glowed down on us guiding the way.
‘We are not going to stay in bed, we are not going to be those boring people who stop making the most of their life. Our life is to be filled with Excitement, and Adventure, with Music and Singing. With unplanned road trips to the middle of nowhere to dance naked under the stars!’ She giggles as I jerked up in the seat looking at her with pure shock and horror in my eyes.
“MOM NO! Turn this car around. Right now, Renee Higginbotham I am Telling You!!” I was lost at how I at my age had to be the grown up in this car on the road in the middle of the night.
‘Oh… relax Bella… it was a joke. Unless that is something you would be into?’ The frown on my face, and the deep set ‘v’ between my eyebrows gave her the answer. ‘Okay…. but we are going to the middle of nowhere.’
I wasn’t sure if she was joking, but I knew there was no going back now. I would have to go with whatever it was that #Renee had planned, and hope to god that she really didn’t expect me to remove my clothes and dance when we got to our destination.
I wasn’t sure how long into the journey had passed when my eyes closed, and I drifted into sleep again. The rocking of the wheels on the straight road, no lights to pass as #Renee kept the car at a steady speed. I closed my heavy eyes and drifted off to the land of dreams.
★ ★ ★ ★
‘Bella? Bella... Wake up sweetie. We are here now.’ The soft whispers of my mother’s voice slowly brought me back from the land of dreams. I took in a deep breath of air and stirred in the spot that my body had curled itself into. My legs were all wrapped up into my chest, with my hands under my chin. My back felt like it hadn’t been stretched in years ( which was not true ). My eyes refused to open, and I felt my dry lips parting but no sound coming from them at all in the moment.
I could feel my hair being played with. ‘Bella, sweetie… You are going to miss it if you don’t wake up.’ Light kisses peppered my forehead, and her warm hands brushed my cheeks lightly in the hoped that it would bring me back to her.
“Mom, please. Ten more minutes?” I moaned still half asleep, trying to turn my face away from the attention which she had been showering me with.
‘Baby, no, you need to wake up now. Come on, it’s beautiful.’ She kissed my forehead again, and this time I shifted to curl my face into her, hiding myself into my mother’s hold. Her arms came around me and she slowly rocked me back and forth, whispering and humming ‘Hurricanes’ by Dido that she’d been listening to on repeat this last year.
‘Come on baby, you are missing it.’ #Renee pulled away from me and I heard the car door open, the little shake when she shut it again, and then a few moments later the door next to me had been opened and she was back.
Finally opening my eyes, a little I allowed my mom to guide me out of the car and around to the front where she had set the blanket and the pillows on the ground. The sky above was changing, and it was clear from the way my muscles hurt that I’d been asleep for a while. When We sat down on the ground, #Renee whispered again.
‘It’s it just the most beautiful thing ever Bella?’ But I hadn’t looked up as of yet.
“Hmm…” the sound came from my lips as I rubbed my eyes and then looked out over the view that greeted me. my eyes widened and my mouth fell open.
Tumblr media
She had driven us up to a view point, looking down over the desert and the rock formations. The colour of the sand and the rocks changing before our eyes as we sat here taking it all in. The shadows were changing from dark browns into yellows, oranges and reds as the sun light started to hit them. It was a sight to be seen to be believed.
“You drove us to Monument Valley? Mom!” The shock was followed by goose bumps covering every inch of my body. This had been a national park we both had wanted to visit. But every time we made plans something would come up. #Renee would say it wasn’t meant to be and we put the park back on the ‘Must see’ list in my note book.
Monument Valley was a five-hour drive from Phoenix by car, so I knew that she had been up all night to get us here in time to catch the sunrise. And all because she didn’t want me to stay in bed the night before.
“Thank you, Mom, this is so beautiful, thank you so much.” Moving into give her a hug.
‘I know I’m not the best mother in the world, but I want so much more for you Bella. I want you to live a life full of surprises and excitement. I want you to look back and never regret any choice or decision you have made. I want you to be happy.’ I smiled because those were all things, she wanted for herself, and now she also wanted me to never settle. ( Even if I was a little more like my dad. or at least #Renee kept telling me. ).
‘You will find that sometimes we forget to stop and look around, to do all the things we plan. We think we have forever, and that time will be there always. But it’s not the way it works baby. Time… Well…Time will explain these things to you. Just keep an open mind baby.’
I smiled resting my head on my mother’s shoulder, because I was sure that she was unaware that she’d just partly quoted Jane Austen.
#Renee’s arms came back around me, pulling me into her side, holding me tight as the both of us watched the sun coming up over the horizon together. She kissed the side of my head and whispered into my hair.

What origins does Bella have? Also, by any chance, does Edward have Scottish or Irish roots?
SM didn’t really get into their ancestry with any detail, so all we can really do is look at the surnames in their families. Masen, as an alternate spelling of Mason, is likely of European origin, most likely, per wikipedia, Irish, English, French or Italian. It’s a fairly common headcanon (I think?) that Edward’s human family was Catholic, which fits nicely with Irish, French and Italian, but there’s no actual canon confirmation of that.
We don’t  know what Elizabeth’s maiden name was, but with her emerald green eyes and red/bronze/auburn hair SM might have been conjuring up some Irish stereotypes--or it could be a coincidence. The “emerald” makes me feel like it was intentional; they call Ireland the Emerald Isle, after all, and SM’s not known for being subtle with stereotypes. See: all the international vampires in Breaking Dawn. Swan is of Scottish, Irish and/or English origin most likely, and there’s some debate on whether it actually refers to the graceful bird or not. It could, but it might also be related to the Old English world “swon” which meant swineherd (so: pig farmer) which doesn’t quite have the same elegance and romance.”Beautiful Swineherd?” OR it could derive from an old Norse/Viking word for servant. Renee’s maiden name was Higginbotham. But Renee’s name and her mother’s (Marie, also Bella’s middle name) are stereotypically French, so her mother’s family might have French origins? But the Higginbotham name is apparently very specific to England as a placename surname, referring to someone from a place now known as Oakenbottom, which would only be a slightly better last name than Higginbotham. But of course people marry, and adopt, and divorce, and change their names, and in some cases have names taken from them and new ones forced on them, so there’s plenty of room for other ideas and headcanons here. You could have had a non-European ancestry and still end up with a surname like Swan or Masen. But if you wanted Edward to be of Irish origin there’s plenty here to justify that.
