i'd love to hear ur complaints abt modern geronimo! If u'd like to share that is
Thank you for asking anon, I’d love to share and you have inadvertently entered the dragon’s den/lh
But fr tho, it’s a lot. It’s mostly pertaining to the writing.
The reason why I hate modern Geronimo is in the biggest nutshell possible, they screwed up the original dynamic for the Stiltons, a majority of the books is just one big game of Geronimo torture porn between the other characters, and overall a lot of wasted potential for unique interactions between the wider cast and the rest of the Stiltons as its limited to just Geronimo himself. Hell a lot of the plots could have the input from the other Stiltons if they were brave enough. And there seems to be a new character every few books and there’s no rhyme or substance to it anymore. Since when did trap reproduce???
Tumblr media
And you’re telling me von Volt has another relative???? Yk at some point you just stop reading the books. Oh and do not get me started on the Thea problem…
Let me start with the Stiltons real quick, somehow they got worse by watering down their personalities to a bunch of cheap jokes.
What made the classic (or early) books work was that the whole point of Geronimo’s character is that yes he’s a wimp, but that’s because he’s a tired boss who gets dragged into his family’s shenanigans, and by extension his friends and allies around him. Everyone has some eccentric personality that shocks or baffle him in some way, and that’s where the comedy comes from. He’s able to stand on his own because of his duties and eagerness to stay in his comfort zone is where the meat of the interactions come from.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His family especially Trap and Thea were meant to be respective foils to him. Trap consistently bullies him and Thea is meant to be the direct opposite of him, she’s the driving force in the group and has more pants to cover up what Gerry doesn’t have. She’s the one behind a lot of their adventures or scoops, hell she’s also the one who keeps finding them in the first place and drags her family and connections into them which makes sense because that’s her job and also where a lot of the plots start from. She fills out the spots that Gerry doesn’t have. Trap is just pure comic relief and is basically that outside force to the group. Hell the two even have a dynamic of their own where’d they just fight over the most trivial things and that makes us side with Geronimo more because of the ridiculousness of his family, that’s what made it click (to me). Highly recommend you read the early books, it shows the strongest character imo (#1-20).
Now Geronimo has all his autonomy stripped away and he’s been reduced to a nothing but a punching bag for everyone around him. I hope I’m not kidding here but try reading a classic book (let’s say #7 or #26) and compare it to the writing in a modern book (let’s say #46 or #74) it’s very jarring. They put more emphasis on different ways his day is ruined and give him no room to breathe or stand on his own. There’s just no charm to that anymore. There’s no fine line with his relationship with the other characters (Run for the Hills Geronimo is probably the worse one and represents everything I don’t like about the new dynamic)
Now over time that initial draw to action is also done by Trap, which I thought was cool because it still plays into the idea of Geronimo’s family dragging him into their shenanigans and the motives make sense to him specifically. It’s like he keeps getting calls from his relatives on schemes which is fun. But the more you keep reading the modern books the dynamic gets skewed over time and here’s the part I’ve been waiting for…Thea gets shelved completely. And now it’s somehow the GOD DAMN GINGER BROS SHOW?????
Tumblr media
Now I think about it, Trap used to be a lot more clever in the classic books as well, he’s essentially a bumbling fool who keeps falling into the wrong situations to make a quick buck which slowly backfires on him. If you know me that well you know I’d call him a less scummier Grunkle Stan. The fact that there’s no Thea to balance it out or at least ground the dynamic to some level feels really annoying now.
You don’t really see much of her anymore as she’s either smiling at the back or doesn’t say more than five lines anymore, which is baffling because she’s the one who can pick up the pace the most. I really wished they showed more of her involvement again…They’re a trio, not a duo…and the books are suspiciously phasing her out to make room for the ginger bros fail routine and it ultimately feels very empty…there’s not much acknowledgement or involvement from her really like they could say she’s busy at mouseford or something but nope! Shelved completely without an explanation or a missed opportunity for a tie-in mention.
So far the only redemption I see is the Mayan Mystery one and the Soccer one where she had a more integral role which are way more recent but it still bothers me that they just shelved her for a majority of the modern run.
Tumblr media
Listen if the modern books weren’t cowards she would SOLO all these people
Tumblr media
she’d probably have an interesting dynamic knowing that she gets along with everyone well and is technically an adventurer. It’d be such a good parallel to her brother to play off of.
hell it’s even worse in the comics. Like there’s legit no acknowledgment of her at all, when trap is absent that gets an explanation but she’s just suspiciously…gone and the only time she does have a major role is when she’s used as a fake mask for a psyche-out to the villains (I’m sorry but if the comics are gonna pull that shit then I’m baited to believe that Thea and (cat lady) would have a homerotic switcheroo fight akin to Ms.Bellum and Sedusa. SHES THE TOUGHEST AND SMARTEST RODENT, USE HER GODDAMIT)
Tumblr media
Idk man I tried reading some of the comics and it never worked out that much, again the dynamic feels suspiciously empty with zero acknowledgment. It’s not the Stiltons it’s just the fucking ginger bros for some reason. It doesn’t feel solid like it used to. I really can’t get into them which is a shame, and tbf why would I want to read a comic where Geronimo goes back in time and helps a colonist do his thing 💀
Tumblr media
I’d be very happy if someone here can give me one good reason to get into them somehow, I want to like modern Geronimo, please/s
Look if there’s one character I don’t mind them putting in complete absence it’s probably the unaccompanied minors/s…Or Petunia which makes much more sense since she’s a family friend!
Tumblr media
Look I actually like Ben and Bugsy as a duo, I think their whole concept is really wholesome, but the books don’t really push their parts that much, like there’s no meaningful interaction they have with the adults which is a lot of missed potential that or it’s just limited to Geronimo. Like listen I get that the whole point of the books was that it was from Geronimo’s perspective, but it’s not like everyone else was just “present”. They had more active roles and Gerry would just write all his observations down. You want a good example? The Mona Mousa Code.
Still…Benjamin had more charm and a bigger role in the classic books…that boy can hyper fixate and master niche skills in anything and was the emotional rock for Geronimo. But now he just goes along with his uncle being a punching bag routine :/ and I KNOW they could do a lot more for Bugsy here, especially since the paws are practically family friends.
—-
But you know…I’ll do give it credit here this era has one of my favorite art styles in the series and notably the one I grew up with the most (classic books illustrations still hold more charm imo) but the way action and expression is illustrated is just *chefs kiss* there’s a certain bounce to it that makes it so memorable.
And I’ll do admit all those geography facts (even if it’s just basic facts I mean it’s a kids book) and long detailed lists or charts about a characters detail is really cool and somehow makes it more immersive.
And it’s really nice to see the universe get expanded.
But overall, the writing is not the same anymore, the original dynamic is screwed up, and lots of missed opportunity to round up the cast together. It’s either empty or I’m just getting too old…Maybe I’m just nostalgia-biased in different areas who knows. But that’s pretty all my thoughts I can pull out.

Hello there
I recently had a horrific argument because some people can’t let a ship just be a ship. I genuinely have my fun and love for Cleon and it getting attacked was too much. However the person I got into a fight with also told me to count up 3 reasons why they should work. And I couldn’t believe that I had to think about it and it took longer than it should have. Out of curiosity…if you had to count up three reasons what would it be?
Hello!
I'm pretty sure I've already answered a question like this at some point, or at least the answer is spread out somewhere in several of my posts over the last 3 years.
But don't worry, I will try to make a short summary of the 3 things about Cleon that would make them work as a couple:
1.They have a lot in common.
Although their work occupies most of Leon and Claire's lives, through the franchise they have shown very similar everyday interests and hobbies:
Such as love for motorcycles. Capcom made Leon and Claire the official bikers of the franchise, always putting little references here and there in games and movies;
Their whole style. The taste for custom leather jackets, obviously, but also many other alternative outfits. Believe me, of almost all of Claire's costumes, Leon has one somewhere to match.
Even the same kind of sense of humor, with similar one liners, bad good jokes and literary references that I posted here many times before;
It would be easy to imagine what their life together would be like outside of work, on a daily basis with so much in common and the banter they have when they are together.
2.They have the same morals.
Despite following different paths in the fight against bioterrorism, Leon and Claire carry the same code on how to act in certain situations:
Like the idea that both have already stated about not giving up the fight in the name of their comrades who died alongside them (Damnation, Heavenly Island);
The strong will to protect those in need, like Sherry, Ashley and others, no matter how impossible the mission seems or what has to be done;
Not blindly believing in something and always questioning and digging deep when something doesn't feel right (Degeneration, Infinite Darkness);
Trying to understand all sides of the situation and even sympathizing with some of the villains they faced (Annette, Rodrigo, Jason, Buddy, Dr. Taylor and more);
Along with many others, sharing these characteristics can bring stability to their relationship. Having them always on the same page, knowing what each one stands for.
3.They can understand each other.
Besides the shared trauma in Raccoon City, Leon and Claire went through very similar traumatic events even on different missions years apart and, in one way or another, felt the same type of pain:
Being kidnapped, infected and subjected to a race against time to save themselves and others (RE4 and REvelations 2);
Having to see their superiors whom they trusted (and are somewhat emotionally involved) become monsters obsessed with power. (Neil and Krauser)
Being used, mistreated and framed... Leon by the government and its corruption; Claire (along with terrasave) by willpharma and later on by Neil and the FBC;
Witnessing friends sacrifice themselves for them... some even in a very similar way: like Gabe and Mike exploding in a helicopter while Claire and Leon can only watch;
Don't get me wrong, a lot of RE characters have trauma and they all can bond through that, it's undeniable. But here, about Leon and Claire, I'm not just talking about "what happened and their reaction", but also HOW it happened and the physical and psychological similarities of each event for them. As if the narrative chooses to create parallels between them.
And this opens the door for a deep interactions (like the one in Degeneration) that can add new layers to their relationship and find comfort in each other.
Now just let me give you a little bonus (because I would like to write a lot more, but that is already too far from the short summary I promised)
4.Their amazing chemistry.
Haters will always try to deny it (and that's expected since they are haters), but the chemistry between Leon and Claire is great.
Not just the way they look and smile at each other, but how they act together and how they care for each other. I mean, Capcom didn't write scenes like Claire's big smile when she sees that Leon is okay, or Leon giving up of himself for Claire's safety, or them flirting cracking jokes in the middle of a zombie outbreak, or running and screaming each of their name in despair as soon as they see the other is injured for nothing.
It's to highlight their chemistry. The chemistry they are writing for Cleon.
Again, haters will always deny it, because it's inconvenient for them, but it's there.
Leon and Claire love and care for each other deeply, they can have fun hobbies, overcome hardships and find comfort together. The entire basis for a healthy relationship is there, written by the devs at Capcom themselves.
We just need to wait and see what they do with it.

P1 Saburov and Viktor are so terribly underrated and it's such a shame because their characters are immensely interesting and way more developed beyond "evil corrupt politician" and "isolated and rich single father with much children cooler than him", which is how I've seen some people halk about them. You are doing god's work
Oh deeply... I do think there's an effect where an important part of both of their arcs as rulers is that they're rendered obsolete halfway through the game, as soon as the Inquisitor shows up and overtakes their authority. from that point on only their associated healer gets to interact with them at any depth, but both of them are also planning to die (...normal reaction to being rendered obsolete) so it's harder for their dialogue to stick outside what's most vital for quests. also since nobody plays changeling route :-(
I see victor reduced to 'wifeguy' more than 'guy with important kids' more often (and enjoy it, even partake!) but he stands out to me as having the most personal, even self-centered wants in the cast- repairing his relationships with (living) family, the wish to leave and finish his university degree; in fact I'd say victor is someone who's been deprived of the things most important to him for a long time, and is in a position where he could get them back, if he only abandoned the project of leading the Town towards utopia which the kains have devoted themselves to for the past 5 years / forever. and nina's soul is present in and tied to that project, but there is some level on which only victor remembers her as a person instead of a divine instrument- and that lends itself to the ability to grieve and move on. if victor kain walked out of pathologic I think he'd ultimately be happy, and I think he's unique among the rulers for that. but the tragedy of all of the families is that they're embedded in a town and traditions that Will Not Let Them Out
whereas saburov is like. he grew up in this town, his mother would've been a Mistress herself, the town's needs and impositions as a structure are so ingrained to him that he doesn't conceive of any selfhood or duty that Doesn't involve his role as The Saburov, putting himself on the line for everything that might befall the town. and the patterns are also so ingrained to him that he starts to think he can change or at least outsmart them. come to think of it, the whole first half of changeling route is his trying to find someone responsible for the plague, and ultimately when there is no such person he takes that responsibility onto himself but He Tries so hard first... clara's presence disrupts the balance and therefore taking her in might allow him to control the balance (and per recent discussion there's a masculinity in his need for control), except the conjectures he makes don't really apply to something completely new and unknown. and to his credit saburov loves changing his mind when presented with new information and there's a lot of guilt accumulating because of it and ultimately he gives up that control to clara, being one of few characters to genuinely grow over the course of the game. But in a way that's still symbolically equivalent with death 🙂
So they're two self-abnegating people who are the "less important" member of their ruling family and become surpassed by their daughters in the town to come, but from totally perpendicular backgrounds that cross just at this point... it's very fun that they don't get along as administrators when rulerhood is the one thing they kind of share

Big agree with what you said about Johnshi. I've been in fandoms for a fuckton long time and this isn't new but damn does it bother me that in the year 2023 we still have to go through this.
It isn't only how the story goes for both Kenshi and Johnny (they meet at their lowest, go through hell together and come out of it as better people). It's also the banter in the intros (not only between them but also the fact that Kenshi and Johnny talk about each other to the others). And don't get me started with how their designs work : the blindfold is now forever tied to Johnny and the whole red/blue design going on.
But no. We can't have what would be the most organic relationship in the whole MK1 story. Instead we have Syzoth and Ashrah (which, don't take me wrong I LOVE them both) who happen to breath in the same room and possibly bond outside of the mainstory?
Agh sorry for the rant but sometimes I get bitter bc we couuuld have it aaaaaall >:(
EXACTLY 😤😤 I AM SO MAD!!!
Let me rant some more about this.
NRS was the first to introduce the first ever gay character in the fighter style video games. Love them for it, love that Taleena is canon. However, they're still pussayh for not making johnshi canon.
So i have been fangirl for more than a decade and IT IS ALWAYS THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM WITH BIG PRODUCTION COMPANIES they're so afraid of public backlash.
Let me tell you why not making Johnshi canon situation is different from Taleena and Kung Jin by opening big ass can of worms.
1. MK is dominated by cis hetero males. Yes, many people from various bg play the game, but it is undeniably true that the majority of fan base is men.
2. There's a phenomenon called the fetishization of lesbian and bisexual women. I am aware that I'm being controversial by saying this, but this fetishization makes the general public be more "accepting" of lesbain couple than the rest of the queer community, and it resonates mostly in straight men where they see queer women as objects that are simply putting on a show for the enjoyment of those watching.
This leads to my next point that it is a high probability that Taleena is allowed to be canon because the backlash from the cis hetero male fan base will be less than having gay relationship in the game. And let me tell you, Taleena interaction is bare minimum in the story mode!! I mean, yeah, they're trying to hide their relationship from others and the story is not exactly focused on them but they can be so much more! I can gloss over the lack of taleena content but was hoping for more in the future installment. But guess fucking what? Alternate universe Tanya and Mileena are rumored to be married to men in the upcoming mk1 side story.
Like imagine the vast possibility of having alternate universes where you can notch up the teased Forbidden Lovers trope but instead of having Taleena being happily united, NRS makes their only queer relationship straight???? *maniacal laugh* Honestly i will fight NRS on SIGHT. In my eyes, this only proves that they don't really care about queer representation, they're just filling the diversity qouta.
3. With what i said, NRS is a fucking coward for not making their popular male characters gay. You might bring up my boy Kung Jin but listen to me, debuting new queer character and making existing fan favorite character queer are completely different things. Kung Jin is first introduced in MK X and his sexual orientation is subtly suggested in the game. While Johnny Cage has been rated among the top Mortal Kombat characters by various gaming media publications.
If NRS made Johnny gay and in a relationship with Kenshi, imagine how fucking big the media coverage of them would have been. Literally, the second coming of that beer company queer backlash would have happened. Every gaming news outlet would be making articles on it. Johnshi would be trending on twitter.
I understand that it would be quite a risk to that to your business but guess what? They gave the most organic, the most heartfelt, the most tender story arc (ok i could be lil baised but you cant deny the chemistry) then slapped good ol' guys being pals and best friends forever crap on them 🙃
If Johnny and Kenshi were opposite gender, no cap, NO FUCKING CAP THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A FUCKING COUPLE.
4. I think Johnshi arc takes almost half of the story mode because we go through Johnny, Raiden, Kenshi, Baraka, Ashrah, Syzoth POVs till they come back from Outworld mission and in every chapter, Johnny and Kenshi get significant moments. And those moments are exclusive to only two of them, specifically tailored to them.
People say they're just friends, but i think the difference really shines if you consider that Kung Lao and Raiden are equally friends with them too. During outworld mission, Kung Lao has minimal dailogues and screen time when Johnny and Kenshi have interaction. If Kenshi and Johnny were just friends, they should have shown Kung Lao's reaction to Kenshi's blinding, Kung Lao's worry for Kenshi in the Shang Tsung's real laboratory, Kung Lao's line for Kenshi's regained sight RIGHT ALONG SIDE WITH JOHNNY.
What Kenshi and Johnny have exclusively belongs to them. That sets the difference between platonic friendship and the connection of those two.
Straight couples have less fucking interaction than one fucking scene and they are magically together. So tell me why the fuck Johnshi is not real
They SHOULD BE REAL and I'm so DONE with NRS

The rest of the team is now totally used to the sight on the coach of Jamie sprawled over Roy's lap fast asleep while Roy just stares stoically dead ahead, but hes also got his arms wrapped around Jamie and anyone watching closely would see his hold tighten every time the bus breaks or turns to prevent Jamie from sliding off
YEAH!!
Random headcanon hour I think Roy is veryyyy “we must be Normal Coach and Player we must not mix Work with our Relationship” (on the surface at least lmao) so on the way to any game he insists on sitting up front with the coaches away from Jamie and Jamie sits with the lads and They Don’t Interact. This is also a weird pregame ritual where they do not talk directly or interact outside of like, Roy’s pre-match hype speech to the whole team. Because to talk one on one or whatever would be bad luck. BUT. On the way back. Well. That’s a different story.
If they win, obviously they’re both very happy and feel more loose. So then after, Jamie very deliberately hangs back to be one of the last on the coach so that he can obviously makes eyes at Roy and wait for Roy’s “permission” to sit with boys celebrating on the way home (this is just Roy head-nodding at him). Roy always does nod and let him, of course. Only problem is that Jamie is notoriously sleepy after games and so even if everyone is happy-partying-etc, Jamie passes out halfway through the trip on whosever shoulder he happens to be next to, lmao. Then when they get to the Richmond car park, Dani and Sam always have to debate: ‘do we wake him up?! 🥺’ until Roy stomps back there and is all ‘I’ll take it from here’ in his Roy Voice, and then eases him off Dani’s shoulder or whoever and onto his own 🥺 but then as soon as the last boys are off the coach and they’re alone he’s barking at Jamie to wake tf up so they can go tf home and flicking the side of his head to get him to awake ckdhdikwk. He’s very gentle helping him off the bus though and he always carries jamies bag for him because sleepy Jamie is bad about leaving shit behind ❤️
If they LOSE…I think Roy is a massively sore loser tbh, lol. So while I think he can hold himself together enough to be moderately motivational in the locker room, once they get to the bus everyone knows to give him a wide berth. He’ll come into training the next time with a wealth of new ideas for them to try and be all business about it and deadpan calm about their fuckups, but right after a lose, he is fuming simmering in anger and you are better off Not Talking to Him and for the love of god Do Not Approach. The only person he lets near him is Jamie. Jamie always sits with him when Roy is Like That, and usually they don’t talk at all, but when Jamie eventually falls asleep on Roy’s shoulder Roy has an arm gripped around him steadying him at every bump.
Reversely, if it’s a game where Jamie specifically plays poorly (whether they won or lost), Roy will be like “oi Tartt! You’re up here with me” and Jamie will of course Go and Roy will talk to him in Soft Tones and no one else on the team understands how or why but Jamie always ends up asleep on Roy’s shoulder by the end of the ride one way or another.
Anyway, yeah, the bus as a sacred space or whatever

“Hi, babe!” Y/N squeals as she walks into the communal area, finally back at the base with her teammates after a long mission. “I missed you so much, you don’t even understand.” She walks straight to Daisy, ignoring everyone else in the room.
“You’re home!” Daisy jumps up from the couch, abandoning the shooter game she was playing with Mack.
The two laugh as they pull each other into a big embrace. They’re acting as if no one else is in the room, which makes the others either roll their eyes playfully or share a knowing smirk amongst one another.
“How was the mission?” Daisy holds one of her hands on Y/N’s waist, not wanting to let go of her now that she is finally near.
Y/N shrugs with a small smile. “It was fine.” She is still wearing her suit, but she really wanted to see the others—Daisy to be more specific—before cleaning herself up. “May and I kicked their asses.” She punches the air while doing sound effects.
Jemma walks over to the duo, interrupting their giggling, “do the rest of get a hug or is it just Daisy?” She asks with a smile.
“Shut up.” Y/N pulls Jemma into a tight hug. “I missed all of you.”
“Equally?” Bobbi smirks, her brow raised, as she looks at the from the kitchen side of the room.
“Now, now,” she tilts her head, looking back at Bobbi with a grin, “lets not get too far ahead of ourselves.” Y/N turns to Daisy and kisses her cheek. “I’m going to get cleaned up. I love you!”
“I love you.” Daisy says after her while staring at her back as she walks away from the common room. She has a wide smile on her face even after she is gone.
Sitting back to the couch and picking up the console, she starts playing the game with Mack again. Jemma and Bobbi are in the kitchen area making dinner for the whole team.
“So,” Mack starts, keeping his eyes on the game, “when are you two going public?”
“Huh?” Daisy’s attention gets completely taken off the screen, which causes her character to die. Mack lets out a groan, but she pays no mind to it. “What do you mean?”
He looks at her with his brows raised. He is trying to see if Daisy is being serious. “With your relationship?”
“We’re just friends.”
Mack squints his eyes. “You expect me to believe that?”
“We are! I don’t know where you got the idea of us being together.” She mumbles, but there is an uncertainty to her voice. Is there something else between them? Seeing the conflict on her face, Mack decides to drop the subject and continue the game in silence.
Daisy paces around her room, brows scrunched up and lips raw from the force she is biting them. Her mind is all over the place. She doesn’t know what to think about the situation between her and Y/N. They’ve always been close, they hit it off instantly when they met, and ever since then, they’ve been practically inseparable.
She thinks over every interaction they’ve had during the years. She is trying to search how they could have made their relationship seem romantic without meaning to. Sure, they’re always attached by the hip, and have said they’d never be able to live without the other, going as far as promising they’ll have free reign over each other’s houses if they ever move out of the SHIELD base. But every best friend does these kind of things. It’s not abnormal for them to seek out physical contact with each other, or spend more time huddled together in one bed rather than sleeping in their own ones. Friends call each other cute pet names and say I love you multiple times a day.
Pausing, Daisy closes her eyes. She tries, she really tries to assure herself they’re just friends. That there are things all friends do.
But she doesn’t do these things with anyone else than Y/N. She doesn’t call Bobbi babe, or hold Jemma’s hand whenever they go outside, or sit impossibly close to Mack when they play games.
Y/N isn’t just a friend to her.
She really loves her.
Daisy goes out to the hallway, starting her quest of finding Y/N, so she can talk to her immediately. She peeks into few different rooms, all of them empty. She tries to rack her brain if Y/N mentioned having another mission, but she shouldn’t, not so soon after the last one.
Soon enough, she bumps into Jemma. “Do you know where Y/N is?”
Her eyes turns wide as she takes in the urgency in Daisy’s voice. “Last time I saw her she was going to the locker room, pretty sure she is about to go grocery shopping with Bobbi. Is everything okay?”
The question doesn’t get heard by Daisy, as she is already half across the hallway, practically running towards the locker room.
She barges into the room, scaring Y/N and making her drop the shirt she was about to put on. “Sorry!” Daisy turns around immediately when she notices the amount of bare skin visible, her cheeks flushing red, as if she has never seen Y/N naked before.
“Jesus, Dais.” Y/N lets out a breathe, calming down now that there is no immeasurable threat to fight. She picks up her shirt and pulls it on. “What’s going on?” Giggling quietly, she picks up her bag, slightly put off by Daisy’s behavior.
“Nothing.” She presses her eyes shut, cursing at herself for losing all of her composure in front of Y/N. “Just wanted to say hi, and…add stuff to the grocery list before you leave.”
“Okay.” Y/N stares at Daisy’s back, she still hasn’t turned back around. “What did you want to add?” Her voice is soft and her eyes study her friend as they start walking out of the room.
“Candy?”
The word comes out more of a question rather than a statement, which makes Y/N give Daisy a weirded out look. She hums, slowly nodding. “Pretty sure candy is already on the list.”
“Right, Hunter.” Daisy clears her throat. Of course, candy is already on the grocery list, it’s the first thing Hunter writes on it every time the empty shopping list appears on the fridge door.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, sorry, I think I’m just tired.” She lets out a forced laugh.
Y/N can see right through her, they both know this, but fortunately for Daisy, she decides to let it go. “Okay. Well, I have to go or Bobbi will leave with out me.” She gives her a playful roll of her eyes and a grin.
“I love you.” Daisy says as she stops walking.
“I love you too!” Y/N has a wide smile on her face while she continues making her way towards the door.
However, Daisy grabs her hand, not letting her leave. “No I-“ she hesitates, not sure if this is a good moment for a confession or if she really has the bravery to do it, “I love you.”
“Oh.” She stands there, furrowing her brows while she looks at Daisy, who is giving her a very peculiar look. Y/N’s mind works overtime as she tries to think why Daisy would have to repeat the sentence they’ve told each other multiple times be- “Oh.” Her eyes widen in recognition.
“Yeah.” Her voice is quiet.
The two stand there, looking at each other, Daisy’s hand still holding onto Y/N’s arm. Neither of them know what to think or to do in a situation like this. Daisy’s hands are shaking, and her heart feels like it’s beating out of her chest from the nervousness she is feeling.
“I think I feel the same.” Y/N whispers. She is looking at the ground, her brows furrowed together and lips slightly parted.
“Really?”
The way Daisy’s voice gets a pitch higher when it’s full of hope and happiness makes Y/N smile. She does love her. She always has, but she has never been brave enough to face those feelings. “Yeah.” She laughs, a sudden surge of giddiness overcoming her body.
Daisy pulls her closer by the arm she is holding, and smashes their lips together. The feeling is better either of them could’ve ever hoped for. Their bodies are melting together, like they’re meant to be, and maybe they are.
They pull away, breathless and smiling, still staying close to each other. “I think I want to do that again.” Daisy states, her eyes fluttering open when Y/N’s forehead meets hers.
“No one is stopping you.”
At that, Daisy pulls her back in, moving her arms to Y/N’s hips, holding onto them tightly so she’d never be able to get away.
“No PDA in the hallways!” Bobbi’s sudden loud voice makes the two jump away from each other. Their wide eyes meet Bobbi’s slightly disgusted ones, she is trying to shield her eyes with her hand. “Is it over?” When she hears quiet and embarrassed mumbles, Bobbi crosses her arms over her chest. “I am very happy you two finally decided to stop pining after each other, but we were supposed to leave fifteen minutes ago, Y/N.”
“Sorry.” She tilts her head to the side with a small smile. “I got, sidetracked.”
“I saw it.”
“I’ll see you later?” Y/N looks at Daisy.
“Yeah, my room.” She whispers so Bobbi won’t hear.
Y/N nods, kisses her cheek, and jogs over to Bobbi, finally ready to go grocery shopping. “I love you!”
“I love you too!”

Zombiewood, my beloved...
Man... thinking about how much I love Double Life Martyn & his interactions with Cleo again. There is... so much silliness going on there. Legit, they can barely hold a conversation without giggling. And the drama... Just existing together under the drama umbrella makes them fantastic story material. 10/10 soulmate pair.
Martyn's terrible game show flop. Devastating. Him getting in a fistfight with Cleo at the end of it. That little fast-paced vent he does while ranting to Jimmy about how Cleo is really into building bridges with Scott but not him, which pitches up into a scream. I love how 'into character' he gets there; it's so good...
The entire hilarity of Martyn building a giant heart in front of Cleo in an attempt to win her back, which she loathes and ignores while he spends the series fighting with the HOA for the right to keep it. Everyone constantly yells at him for dropping their property value. All he wants is Cleo's attention and Cleo just... is not impressed. so funny.
"It's small, but it's enough. Just like me." - Martyn, what??
The way Martyn builds his base "in Cleo's front yard." That's so nuts. From an in-universe perspective, I love that swivel from denial and anger in Episode 1 to bargaining in 2.
So many good tidbits throughout their 5-episode relationship... Martyn peeping at Cleo through his spyglass at night and muttering "She seems safe; she seems happy; she seems healthy" before zooming in all "Wait, she has to use the furnace OUTSIDE?? Take it inside! Look, he's ruining you!" Like... Okay, Martyn.
"This is all her fault, 100%!!" He's a needy, angry man grasping at straws. I love dumb roleplay drama. Ugh, the commitment to the bit is so glorious. What a great arc.
The way Martyn thoroughly convinces himself that Scott's the shoulder devil who swayed Cleo away from him, so he shows up to speak his mind ("We can be real, proper soulmates, but right now you're being really selfish. You let him speak in your ear! You let him tell you that I was off not caring about my soulmate! I was providing!" and Cleo hits him with "Martyn... I was the one who brought it up first."
Just... idk, the way he freezes right then is great. The "emotional damage" clip he plays right then just makes it for me. That right there is the moment that Character Martyn splinters. It's so good. And yet he doesn't give up?? astounding.
I really enjoy how Pearl took the divorce quartet situation and spun it into clingy 'crazy ex' roleplay with Scott, and Martyn went the complete opposite route and tried to woo Cleo over with grandiose gestures of affection, really playing up the "I'm a provider; I didn't want to show up emptyhanded" angle. They were so different in how they handled the break-up and I still think that's cool. They did such a good job. Fantastic season.
Martyn: I care about us! I bring the skill; you bring the vibes- That's what I was signing up for! Cleo: If you look at it this way- You don't have to watch out for me. I've got somebody else who's willing to lay down their life for me.
Like??
Martyn wants someone he can share affection with. Cleo wants stability and trust. The whole "This is better for both of us" is so good... Hilarious.
The part that really makes it for me is Martyn starting to protest "So this is what we're doing?" and Cleo softly shushes him, just like "Shhh... They're coming over."
They kick off a secret alliance they don't discuss in public... Cleo apologizing for misjudging him and extending a hand. Martyn playing the part of jealous lover who's got an open door waiting for him if he'll meet her halfway, which he can choose to do at any time if he swallows his pride... It's SO GOOD... What a set-up!
Martyn & Cleo, my beloveds... Where else can I find the goofy 'jealous ex with a flair for art and drama' + 'Annoyed ex who moved on with their life and got a new partner and a home' health-sharing soulmate combo with this much commitment to the anger and grief and forgiveness and regret... They're great.
Martyn: I don't know where I stand with her. She sort of seems to be looking out for me but absolutely wants nothing to do with me. It's all very confusing... and maybe Cleo will come back to me one day.
Well, I've got good news and bad news, boss...
Cleo giving Martyn a heart-to-heart and he quietly wanders back to his base, turns to look at them, and tells the audience "Maybe me and Cleo are more on the same page than I initially thought" while in Cleo's POV a moment later, she's like "Look, sometimes you just have to speak to him in a way he'll understand" [gameplay strats] ??? slkdjf
Cleo sending Martyn on his way with his first diamonds of the series to craft a sword with... the "Don't die" / "I promise; I'll do us proud- Don't you worry" / "[Sigh]... Do yourself proud" exchange just kills me. Martyn swivels to his softer 'serious roleplay voice' to 'pledge loyalty' to her and Cleo just Is Not Having It With Him and shuts that down so fast.
Cleo: You don't need to worry about me. I've got my partner. Martyn to the audience, so Cleo can hear: She's saying that even when there's nobody around. I am VERY confused."
Two dead, many injured.
Cleo tossing a flower in his inventory when he wasn't looking. Cleo offering to let Martyn stay with her after his base gets griefed. Also ??? Martyn and Cleo getting a house together when they were constantly fighting?? why did they do that.
Cleo and Scott on their bridge above the ravine, doing their daily axe crit to the chest... Martyn in Ep 3 whips around and yells "Do you two mind??" Cleo tells him it's their way of showing affection and Martyn immediately gets out his enchanted axe and goes for her. He looks Scott in the eye and says "At least I've got a heart" and Scott's instant reply is "Do you??"
Martyn later refusing to use the bridge because it would be "awkward"... Martyn sneaking around Cleo's house and getting upset that she joined the HOA, immediately followed by her chasing him out of her yard insisting that she didn't. Martyn's swap into bubbly music when he's in the panda reserve. "The admission fee is love!" / "Oh, I come with buckets of that because somebody isn't accepting mine."
On the way out the door, Scar tells Cleo and Martyn that he'll find more romantic music to play the next time they visit and Martyn doubles back and says "Yeah, if you could." Love that for him. All the man wants is a partner who doesn't want to kick him in the teeth. What a great episode.
I love how Martyn and Cleo interact on their weird stepping stone bridge above the ravine... He keeps pushing for "I'll take your gear and go down to the ancient city to get your enchantments sorted out," trying to kill two birds with one stone and play up that role of being "the provider," and Cleo just... keeps trying to reel him back.
"No, no, no! You don't even have to do that! All you have to do is say 'I'm sorry for abandoning you on the first day.'" / "Mmmmm... I don't understand." sldkfj. "All it takes is an apology, Martyn." / "You're not getting one. We both know you're not getting one."
Delicious self-inflicted drama. Cleo's so willing to bend and he's so dang stubborn. I love them...
Personal highlight for me is right after Martyn kills both Cleo and himself by punching them off a cliff. Scott puts himself between the two of them while Cleo seethes and Martyn apologizes profusely and he just keeps saying "You have ruined every chance of ever being with her as your soulmate. You have lost every opportunity." Cleo following it up with "Remember when I said Martyn would be a good person to have on our team?
Yeah, just drive that sense of "Nobody wants you" into the one guy who's been so desperately roleplaying affection... topped off by the fact that when they're alone, Cleo drops the loud angry voice and cracks up laughing. Your honor, they are literally just some guys.
The fact that Cleo had to save him from an enderman while he shrieked and buried under her bedroom floor. I cannot get over the mental image of "Take me back, babe" immediately followed by them almost dying twice in 5 minutes. Martyn literally runs inside and hides under Cleo's bed... they can't stop giggling. Yep. He's here: the perfect man.
DL!Martyn is so funny to me... He explicitly uses the phrase "I'm breaking up with you too" when he dumps Pearl at the end of Episode 1, and then he does it AGAIN when Ren says they should bring Pearl into the Broken Hearts club.
The whole "Uh... I broke up with Pearl, so this might take some convincing" bit just cracks me up. Ren so wanted this alliance to work and Martyn is like "... ah. Yeah, about that..."
Semi-related, but thinking about that one Reacts clip where IRL Martyn said "See, this is why me and Cleo are soulmates" while listening to them talk about his LimLife finale betrayal...
idk; that's funny to me- I like the in-universe image that character Martyn is still hung up on Cleo (and/or the mental image of character Martyn hanging out with her at a post-LimLife party, trying to study her and figure out why they were paired).
Martyn and Cleo are on the same page in so many ways... but they have different communication styles / preferences and they crashed and burnt so hard... Ah, the sweet tragedy of it all. I'd have loved to see how well they could've fared together as a team.
Cleo losing their Yellow life because Martyn scrambled towards her begging her to eat and she forgot she was drowning as she opened inventory to check her pockets... His "Leave her alone!" and "Cleo, we good? We good?" during the ancient city fight. Cleo inviting Martyn into her Red Life base. Yeah. Them... Messy to the end.
Anyway, they're hilarious. GG to them on the improv and the commitment to it, even though the break-up was probably a scary roleplay / gameplay choice...
Also that moment where Bdubs casually says hello to them while they're walking home from the panda reserve and they immediately go for their weapons and start threatening him "Your money or your life" is so perfect... Love me a couple improv troublemakers in total sync. They're my favorites.
I love them and their silly donkeys Glen and Schmoobles... Nothing like two soulmates both picking the same companion animal without coordinating and both giving them silly names in the complete opposite directions from each other. They're great.
I love them...

Liu Kang knew Bi-Han's parents, which means that he knew Bi-Han his whole life. He had to have seen him being frustrated growing up. Why did he never talk to Bi-Han? I understand that he doesn't want to micromanage people's fates and destinies, but simply talking to him and hopefully getting through to him could have prevented all of this. Liu Kang can have high hopes for Bi-Han, but him not helping out an obviously troubled youth would all but ensure that said high hopes get dashed.
But did Liu Kang really have that close relationship with Bi-Han or his father to begin with? I have no doubt he was familiar with both, as Lin Kuei for generations served as his special forces to ensure Earthrealm’s safety, however that alone doesn’t mean he was best friends with any of them. The more I analyze story mode and intro dialogues, the more source material makes me question how truly close, if ever, was Liu Kang with his Lin Kuei subordinates, beside maybe Kuai Liang alone.
As I mentioned in different ask, Liu Kang did not interact with Bi-Han or his brothers outside of Lin Kuei servitude scenes in the story mode but he did spent time with his Champions, dining together or answering their questions and explaining things, be it about places and people or praising them and showing friendly gestures like putting an arm on Raiden’s back after the mortal won Tournament. The comradeship is especially visible with A) his Champions, as they trained for months with Shaolin Monks and we see them all interacting freely with Liu Kang between important events and with B) Geras, the loyal guardian of Hourglass.
That is story mode alone. Bi-Han was never called a friend, never introduced by Liu Kang as the Grandmaster or just Sub-Zero and frankly, it was the Lin Kuei to bow to Fire Lord when commanded or rebuked to calm down in Cage’s Mansion arc - a gesture Liu Kang does not return but he does bow in greeting to all of Royal Family, including Jerrod, even though they both considers each other a good friends. There is a clear, visible contrast in how Liu Kang interacts with Bi-Han, Kuai Liang or Smoke (whom he does not interact in any meaningful way) and other of his allies.
Now, did Liu Kang truly know that well Bi-Han to see his growing frustration?
For example, the story mode presents Geras and Jerrod (in Ermac’s body) as Liu Kang’s friends,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
however Bi-Han’s father wasn’t mentioned at all by Fire Lord, even though his death happened quite recently. All we learn about the man’s teaching, values and death come solely from what Lin Kuei brothers told us. If not for intro dialogues, we could easily assume there was no relationship between Liu Kang and the previous leader of Lin Kuei and even this one direct praise
Sub Zero: My father was a fool to follow you. Liu Kang: He wisely honored Earthrealm with his service.
is sparse compared to what other characters bring up about Bi-Han’s father, especially in regard to his edenian friends:
Sindel: I knew your father. He was a great man. Sub Zero: Yet he never understood the Lin Kuei's potential.
or
Sindel: Both your parents were excellent fighters. Scorpion: I can only hope to live up to their example.
or
Scorpion: Your husband's murder haunted my father. Sindel: All those close to Jerrod were devastated.
Liu Kang did praise the previous Grandmaster for his service to Earthrealm but unless we count the more general term of family used in other of his vs. Sub-Zero intro dialogue, that is basically all? Liu Kang doesn’t directly address the fact Bi-Han let his father die, which is weird, as Sub-Zero was questioned about that even by Ashrah, Tanya and Reiko - the people Bi-Han barely, if ever, interacted - but not by Liu Kang, the man who in theory knew Bi-Han and his family since forever?
Understandably, it is hard to fit all nuances of the relationship between Liu Kang and the main Lin Kuei characters into one game that wasn’t even primarily focused on it to begin with. However the contrast between Liu Kang’s treatment of people he considers his friends - including the befriended champions - and Liu Kang’s interaction with Bi-Han and his family leads me to think there was never any truly close bond between Fire Lord and Sub-Zero and thus, Liu Kang simply couldn’t recognize Sub-Zero’s frustration for what it was.
For one, we don’t have an idea how Bi-Han behaved in the past, nor how differently it could be from what we see in story mode. According to Kuai Liang, his “frustrations ran deep” but it does not tell us how long Sub-Zero was consumed by anger at his clan’s servitude to Earthrealm. For all we know, he may always act in this abrasive, direct, even bordering on insulting way, as most known to us cryomancers usually did in the past, which is why his brothers and Liu Kang don’t seem bothered much by his behavior because at this point in life they are simply used to it. Some people just lack social awareness - or care for false politeness and Bi-Han could easily be like that from the start. What alone doesn’t make him an inherently evil person, just difficult to interact with.
Then, there is the matter of stress, as Bi-Han took over Lin Kuei after his father’s death. If we agreed that Liu Kang did not have knowledge about the “accident” not had any suspicion about Bi-Han’s role in that, the Fire Lord could simply assume that Sub-Zero is still adjusting to his new role of Grandmaster and understandably, the grief over dead father (and mother) and stress due to new responsibilities made him more irascible than usual.  At the same time, it is not like Bi-Han acted non stop violently, as for most of the time he simply stood behind Liu Kang and did not speak out, obeying Fire Lord’s commands without a protest. What is worth to note Bi-Han acted aggressively toward Liu Kang’s Champions AFTER they either openly insulted Lin Kuei (Kung Lao’s bragging about winning without figuring out Lin Kuei hold their punches) or violated his personal space (Johnny grabbing Bi-Han’s arm when he worked on freeing Kenshi), so it is not like Sub-Zero didn’t keep his temper in check for most of time. More so, each time Liu Kang interferended, Bi-Han obediently backed down.
We need to remember three things:
Liu Kang is not an omnipotent god that knows everything and everyone nor reads people's hearts like some open book. Otherwise, Titan Shang Tsung wouldn’t be able to sneak into his timeline to corrupt people who weren't meant to pose danger. In contrast to Kronika, he does not tyrannically steer events to his own liking and allows mortals’ free will to affect the outcome, for good and bad.
Bi-Han did not complain to Liu Kang about his frustration nor raised the issue of Lin Kuei social-economy status. Come to think about it, he barely talked with Fire Lord and for sure did not talk about anything outside his current duties. Sub-Zero vented his frustration solely to his brothers and only in privacy - a clear indication which people he trusted enough to be open about his feelings and ire.
As stated in Sub-Zero's BIO, there was no danger threatening Earthrealm for generations and so Liu Kang’s contact with Bi-Han and his father before him didn’t necessarily need to happen on a daily basis. Lin Kuei warriors were not living at the same place as Fire Lord. As story mode showed, the Grandmaster was summoned in case of danger, however since their realm was not currently at war, Liu Kang didn’t need to oversee Lin Kuei efforts that closely nor constantly kept those warriors around as he had company of his own people, the Shaolin Monks and other duties to attend.
That said, I do think Fire Lord kept in touch with Lin Kuei Grandmasters, maybe even on a more personal level, yet looking at Bi-Han and Liu Kang’s interaction, it definitely doesn’t feel like the master and apprentice relationship Liu Kang and Raiden have, nor like the friendly interaction between Fire Lord and his Champions in general. The story mode alone doesn’t imply Liu Kang was in any special way involved with Bi-Han as a person outside his affiliation to Lin Kuei and duties of Grandmaster - but frankly, the same can be said about Kuai Liang and especially Tomas. It does not necessary mean that in the past Liu Kang has never tried to talk with Bi-Han and easy his frustration, however the question is: did he know Bi-Han that good to recognize the conflicting emotions in young Sub-Zero beyond the potential mourning dead parents and stress of being burdened with great responsibilities coming with Grandmaster’s title?
For all we know, Liu Kang may as well tried in the past to connect with the troubled youth, yet Bi-Han simply learned to hide his true emotions and doubts better as he does not consider the Fire Lord his friend or family nor a mentor-like figure to open to. In result, Liu Kang could have had an even less clear idea of how deep the frustration ran and simply assumed all is as good as it could be considering everything that happened recently in B-Han’s life and tried to give the mortal time and space to figure out his feelings at his own pace. Otherwise I fear his statement of having great hopes for Bi-Han wouldn’t make sense, if he thought Sub-Zero won’t come around on his own or the man was beyond the reach already.
I would love for Liu Kang to make a visible (story mode-wise) effort to confront Bi-Han about their conflict and talk him out of abandoning, if not the Earthrealm itself, then at least his brothers. I would love no less any intro dialogues suggesting he did try in the past to connect with young Sub-Zero. But we need to remember that Bi-Han would need to be willing to listen in the first place to even consider the Fire Lord’s words at all, and so far, he rejects Liu Kang’s authority completely while the source material rather imply Bi-Han is not fond of Fire Lord in any special way - what adds to the feeling they never had any close relationship to begin with.
So, why did Liu Kang not try to prevent the mess? For once, he simply could not have any good idea that Bi-Han’s frustrations ran deeply enough to pose a threat to Earthrealm’s safety as Bi-Han did not confide in him at all (Bi-Han’s brothers are those who had better idea what was going on but even they did not grasped the enormity of this problem). Or Liu Kiang confused frustration with not handling well the loss of father (and most likely mother before that) and stress of new duties thrusted into him too quickly and unexpectedly due to the accidental death of the previous leader (how old Bi-Han is anyway? For all we know his father could rule Lin Kuei for another decades - it is different to formally inherit power from your sick/old father, where you are already ruling unofficially on his behalf, rather than overnight becoming the sole leader of the entire clan).
I don’t think we can blame Liu Kang for not seeing Bi-Han’s conflicting emotions and a growing sense of injustice done to his clan, because Fire Lord did not have a reason to consider Sub-Zero to be disloyal in the first place, nor did think there was something wrong with Lin Kuei's duties. Bi-Han being brash and short-tempered? Not the best traits to have in a Grandmaster (subordinate) for sure, but which young cryomancer wasn’t like that at some point? If Liu Kang did not manage to bond with young Bi-Han, it doesn’t necessary must be solely his lack of trying but also Bi-Han’s lack of trust and will to see Liu Kang as anything than Fire Lord, the Protector of Earthrealm - considering Bi-Han’s feeling of enslavement of his clan, he could refuse to get close to someone who will without blinking an eye sacrifice him, his brothers and subordinates for the Earthrealm’s safety, because what is point of lying to yourself such person could be your true friend if Earthrealm will always come first before any Lin Kuei?

i want a baby update in stardew valley NOWWWWWW
i was just talking to my dad about how i want to do more stuff with the babies in stardew valley so i decided id make a post detailing all my wishes. if you know me personally you know that my biggest dream is a sdv-esque game where relationships r the focus and the farms the second thing, so these ideas probably would fit better in a game like that. but I DONT CARE and i LOVE THE LITTLE BABIES and i WANT TO PLAY WITH THEM
i want to take my baby everywhere if its a newborn i understand keeping it in the crib all day, but i wanna carry the baby!!! even if i just hold it over my head like an item. i want to carry my baby and interact with villagers and have them go "aww cute baby!" or if my characters a boy i want clint to go "aw haha babysitting today are you?" and i want to go "NO!!!!!!!!! IM RAISING MY CHILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!"'" and then put down my child and beat them up. when the baby is a toddler i want them to be able to follow me anywhere and ride on my horse with me (or, alternatively, have to run really fast behind me to catch up with my horse) and i wanna be able to take my child to the mines, and if i get knocked out in the mines, i want my spouse to fucking berate me and drop me down to 4 hearts and im NOT JOKING!!!!!!! THERE'D BE A WHOLE SPEEDRUN CATEGORY FOR IT AND EVERYTHING DONT YOU SEE THE VISION?
i want to play with my baby it can just be an animation of the farmer sitting on the floor with blocks or something, and it can serve no purpose other than to pass the time IDC!!! we could play hide n seek on the farm or tag with my spouse and other kids or there could be a little minigame like journey of the prairie king or something. but with babies. i want it to be EXACTLY journey of the prairie king actually, i think you should be able to teach your toddler how to play like in abigails 2 heart cutscene and its ai is like so fucking bad at the game cuz therye 4 years old and you have to carry it thru all the levels. i wanna go to the beach with my baby and have them have a cute little animation of them splashing in the shallow water or watch them chase around my dog. i want goddamn COCOMELON ON THE TV!!! ANYTHANG!!!
i want to make npcs babysit my baby i want it to be a requirement that your kid has to have someone looking after them. by default penny is like the only npc who will always say yes so its not Fucking impossible, but if i have like 8 hearts w someone i should be able to go to their house, baby in tow, and ask "hey can you look after my baby?" and theyll say yes but like it or dislike it depending on who they are. i want funny dialogue about what my kid said or if they missed me if we have low hearts. i want to force my farmhands to babysit my baby too. again i want my spouse to drop hearts with me if i go leave the baby unattended
i want to teach my baby things ive never really cared for the babies growing up past toddler age, but i want to teach them how to do things. i want them to get up at like 12pm, waddle outside, stare at a singular tile of plant for 40 in game minutes before holding the watering can above their little head and spilling it everywhere on the dirt. i want to buy my baby a teeny tiny fishing rod and teach it to fish, and i want my baby to fish exclusively trash until its level 9. i want my baby to plant wild seeds in random spots on the farm and get sad if they dont bloom. i want to take my baby to the goddamn mines !!!!! i want my baby to give me random things it picked up. and if i let slimes in the house i want that baby to FUCKING KILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this has been a list of things i want in the stardew valley baby update. everyone hates the kids but i LOVE having little babies running around and i want them to do more. and i think i want to do more things with my spouse too while im at it, and i also want to hug my friends. but one thing at a time. one baby at a time

The "Kairi Problem"
Hey guys it's Kairi day I'm gonna go on a long rant about how sad I am that she kinda sucks as a character.
To start I want to say that I absolutely adore Kairi, and that this isn't meant to be me hating on her, because I do really love her as a character (I literally stole her name for heavens sake). I just believe that there are a lot of problems with her character I need to get out of my system.
Ok, let us begin! First off, and the main issue with her for me is her pure reliance on Sora, and how much that really has damaged her character. Kairi is best when she's not around Sora. For instance, her conversations with Lea in KH3 are some of my favorite parts of that game. Their dynamic is so fun, and I wish they had more screentime together because they have the potential to have this sibling relationship that would be so wholesome. Along with her other interactions with characters, she could have such a great friendship with Aqua, seeing as Aqua will be teaching her how to better herself with the keyblade, it would be great to see more of their interactions.
HOWEVER! These are the only 2 meaningful relationships Kairi has outside of Sora. And even then, Sora makes up 80% of her interactions. Not even her and Riku talk much after KH1. They hardly even talk in Melody of Memory, a "Kairi game" where she is hardly playable. Not only that, at the end of that game Riku basically told her that she needs to stay home and let him to do work to find Sora. This to me is a big misstep in the writing for her character.
Kairi has self-confidence issues, one of her battle lines in Re:Mind is literally "please work". She has no faith in her abilities, but so much can be done with that. She can have an arc about believing in yourself and coming into her own and learn to stand beside Sora and Riku, not just letting them protect her.
This is partially due to her lack of screentime. She's never really been the focus of anything, she's just Kairi. The prize. That's really what she is, she's like the princess in another castle. Just "the girl". And that's a terrible thing to do with her character because unlike Peach, the princess in another castle, Kairi doesn't get the chance to rise above that label. In 21 years you'd think she'd be given something, anything really. I think that's why her kicking a heartless in the KH TV show pilot made me, and probably others, so excited. She did something! And it was cool, that's what we needed. Something cool.
So why am I talking about all this? The fandom has made jokes about Kairi being a plank of wood for years, it's no secret to anyone she's been given very little in terms of character. I guess my question is why? Why is Nomura giving this character with an interesting backstory and an interesting set of powers with seeds of a character if you squint such little time? Not only has she been around since the very beginning, but even characters who we know much less about than her are far more fascinating. I like to compare her to Yozora, who is a character we really know nothing about however we know he's powerful, and we know he has a goal. And I can assume he will deliver on both of those things even when we know more about him. Kairi on the other hand has had very few cool moments, has no goal, and just MIGHT be powerful. I mean you'd think having a princess of heart, a topic that has been covered in multiple games and will likely continue to be touched upon, as a main character would be amazing, right? Well, she's hardly ever mentioned to be a princess of heart and all we know about her powers is that she can bring back a heartless Sora in Kingdom Hearts 1. And that's it, that's all we know.
And I haven't even gotten into the whole thing about the Destiny Trio, the main trio in this series made up of 3 very important characters, feels more like 2 duos. It's either Sora and Riku or Sora and Kairi, not "Destiny Trio". And we know Nomura can write good trios, even while having 2 of the characters have moments together. So why can't the Destiny Trio have this? The 3 of them hardly interact without one of them overshadowing the other. For instance, the Riku and Sora KH2 reunion.
Sora is confused on how Riku can be here when he looks like Ansem. Kairi shows Sora that it is in fact Riku, and Sora and Riku have a moment. Then Kairi does nothing for the rest of the scene. In every case, that is a Riku and Sora scene where Kairi is just there. And this happens time and time again, where Riku or Kairi is put to the side so they both can have their moment with Sora.
And now it's time to talk about the scene where Xemnas kidnaps her. This scene is just... GAH I HATE IT!!! Xemnas just snatches her and then somehow, she's just passed out and gets killed. Not only that, but the reactions from other characters are also so lackluster. Sora does his "Kairi!" thing, and if anyone else were to have reacted I would say it should be Riku and Lea. Of course, Lea was dealing with his own troubles during that scene, seeing his best friends again was definitely something that would be more important to him, however he and Kairi spent time together growing a bond and training together, you'd think he'd at least go after her a little more? He does nothing! The only person that reacts to it is Sora, which is so sad since you'd think even Roxas would care a bit, since he and Kairi had that brief moment in KH2 where Roxas and Kairi's minds connect. You'd think any of them would have more of a reaction than they did. And she herself just sits there and struggles a bit. She's got another hand she could use to summon her keyblade again and swipe at him or do anything else that isn't absolutely nothing.
This whole scene would have been better if they had waited longer for Kairi to get taken, maybe she goes into battle with Sora, Riku, and Mickey when they fight the norts, but Xehanort swopes down and stabs her with his keyblade or something. If that happens, we could get more of a reaction from Riku. Really anything that isn't what we got would be better.
Throughout this whole series Kairi has been pushed to the side time and time again, and I highly doubt that'll end any time soon. With a new saga coming and more focus being placed on the Foretellers and what came before, Kairi will likely be once again pushed to the side lines while other more interesting characters take the front lines. It's a very sad fate for a character that has so much potential she'll never live up to due to a lack of interest from the writer.

So i watched episodes 3 to 8 of Pahkitew Island
Again, watched these with my buddy @rockin-it-rusty! And, holy shit these episodes have got me genuinly wondering why Pahkitew's so hated.
I'll go over the negatives first; the challenges are kinda eh. The Truth or Scare one is great, and the cave one is interesting due to it's hints at the Fake Island reveal (as heavy handed as they were), but most of these were just pretty out there to me? They mostly felt like an excuse to put the characters in situations mostly. Just have Topher make a narration joke, give Max and Scarlett an interaction, have Sky and Dave dance around eachother all due to a thing the challenge made them do. I don't mind the first two much, but the last one gets super repetitive man. Glad they mixed it up a bit by making Shawn try to wingman Dave though, i like their friendship! im a bigger dashawn shipper now oops
ANYWAYS IMA TALK ABOUT THE CHARACTERS NOW BECAUSE LET'S BE HONEST, THE CHARACTERS CARRY THE SHOW!
Amy... Ok im very mixed on her. On one hand, she serves her role as the mean twin relatively well. But on the other, that's all she really is! Her one trait is being mean and hating her sister, and that's all she really does! Granted she has a thing? Where she gets sayings (?) wrong, or just gets words wrong (she says parfait is german. it's french. i would know) which! could hint at something! (maybe less smart than her sister?) but they don't do shit with her outside of her swimming back to the island in episode 5. god i wanna rewrite this season so badly now to give her a bigger role. idk shoutouts to Twinning with a Twist for redeeming her while still giving her some edge ig.
Rodney. i uh
I haven't thought about him since his elimination honestly. I just doooooon't care about him it's crazy. Most forgettable guy in the entire series.
Sammy! Ok back to the siblings rambles! I wish the show leaned into her scheming more. Girl in five episodes pulled identity theft and did nothing else. Why. Her relationship with Jasmine is adorable, and i wish she got Jasmine to call her by her actual name, and a personality too! It's really a shame man :(
Sidenote, but like her team fucking hated her for some reason??? Like what. I know it's because of that one scene, but really?
Ella!! My sweet girl Ella!!! She didn't do anything wrong man she just likes singing leave her alone!!! Chris really fucking hates her and it's pretty entertaining at least, but i'd say his beef with Topher's funnier. She has a nice singing voice, and i love how passionate she is about fairytales and stuff. You could do so much with the Prince thing and the show... didn't. Like what even was that. Conflict that wasn't one that lasts an episode. what
Gotta say though, her elimination was fucking ass, Max 100% should've been kicked instead of her.
Topher. Ah the opher. He's a special case, even in the context of Pahkitew Island itself! Because the dude's not here for the game. He's here to meet his idol, Chris Mclean (he really knows how to pick em, huh). I like the progression he's got, from wanting his approval to straight up wanting to host the game instead of him. I'll admit, my opinion's a little skewed since i am mutuals with the Topher guy on Tumblr, but i like him regardless!
His relationship with Chris is easily one of the more interesting parts of the season, mostly because a 30-something year old dude having beef with a teenage fan is hilarious, and you could definitely spin it in a sad way from Topher's perspective.
It also helps that he's genuinely funny! His few interactions with the other campers are also pretty fun, he dgaf about them it's great.
Im kind of mixed on Dave, i'll be real. On one hand, im glad they ditched the whole "he doesn't like anyone on this Island" trait three episodes in because that would've gotten. SO ANNOYING. SO FAST. (hell i'd argue it was already annoying), and him being a hopeless romantic could be a fun trait, if done right. It also helps that he's really pathetic and i find that funny. His friendship with Shawn's fun too!
But on the other hand... Yeah, even before the finale the Skave plotline's really boringgg. They just dance around eachother for half the season for like! No reason! Please just have a conversation, even if it takes other people to sit them down to have it! I know why they didn't because the finale needed them to not actually talk about it but at least have Sky tell him she'll explain later or have him not be a coward and ask her about it himself!!! ack!!
Also the thing with him and Ella went literally nowhere. I have 0 feelings about it because it's just there for some reason. Idk they just really wanted to shoehorn in romance for every girl this season huh.
Scarlett's a really underutilized character pre-Island reveal. The bulk of her interactions with the other campers are with Max, who has a ton of screentime for some reason (which i don't personally really mind but i'll explain later) which honestly sucks because she's a fun character! I want to compare her to Twilight Sparkle at the very start of MLP. She's smart, she knows it, she can communicate with her teammates just fine and just chooses not to usually. I like her alot! Im just... really disapointed that she's so in the background usually; if anyone's a wasted character in tdpi, outside of the Twins i'd say it's her.
Her legit wanting to kill Max is great though. That's how i'd react to him irl. Don't get the Max saying she had a crush on him three episodes in, or the quip Chris made during the team switching tho.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, MAX! I swear, i was convinced i'd find this guy annoying pre-watch but uh... I like this guy! No really, i do! He's like Mal, only the narrative doesn't take him seriously in the slightest and it's hilarious to watch! Im like Sugar in that one clip, i am laughing at this buffoon's intelligence, and his stupid catchphrase, and his "evil" plans, and his general delivery! Max is funny!
Even when the Scarlett "minion" thing kicked in i still found him funny! Don't get me wrong, i wish he'd gotten out earlier (ESPECIALLY when he was supposed to get kicked in the episode Ella got eliminated into) or just gotten less screentime in general, but in the season proper, yeah he's a funny guy! Big gimmick, but i like him! Please don't add nuance to him, i don't care
Jasmine... certaintly exists! I'd call her the Season's rock, the one character that's emotionally intelligent on the show. She's fun in general, and also the only one noticing things going wrong with the robotic island. As said before, her relationship with Sammy is great to see, and i wished we'd see more of her and Sky's friendship and uh. For there to be more between her and Shawn? Because the only things i've retained is that they blushed at eachother once and then trust issues party because he hit her once during a challenge and that completely broke her trust in him - which, could be an interesting aspect of her character to explore since if that's all it took for her to pull a 180 on Shawn, the girl must have a complicated relationship with trust. That's an interesting flaw! It also shows up with her rapport in Sky in the later episodes of this batch, and. GOD. I wish it was developped man!
The issue? Yeah it's dragged on so longggg man! It's frustating to watch frankly because i really wish they'd resolve this conflict quicker since it's like. The same thing every episode :( to my knowledge it's solved in episode 9, but it did NOT need to be dragged out for 4 episodes.
Unrelated to her charater, but her height difference with the other campers is kind of ridiculous. In some shots the characters look so small compared to her it's crazyyy
Ok, now. Sugar. I'll be honest? She's great! She's just a menace and doing her own thing and it's fun to watch! She's also interesting in terms of backstory since she's canonically a pageant queen; her relationship with Ella is greatly impacted by this, since she heavily suspects her of lying to her face when it's just. Ella being Ella. Similar thing to her opinion on Topher; she doesn't like him for his sucking up to Chris, the host (something that Rusty probably agrees with). I fucking wish she was more popular because then people would look into her more, but alas. She's a female, plus sized character in Pahkitew Island, so considering the Fandom's biases, it was never going to happen. U_U
OK TIME FOR ZOMBIE BOY. So, Shawn. He's definitely more present in these episodes than he was before, and, again, i think he's fun! He's a weird little guy. He's got interesting skills (his camouflage, legit parkour, general athleticism) and his personality's interesting as well compared to the other guys. The zombie thing is fine, actually, because they do different things with it over the course of these episodes. Not much to say about him, he's a solid character to me and i wish he had more interactions with the cast outside of Dave and his pining for Jasmine. Who he's talked to like, five times at this point? Again, they probably should've talked stuff out faster than this for me to actually enjoy it. Oh well.
And finally, Sky. She's an interesting case for me? She's fine, mostly. She's the Normal Person™️ of the cast to me, and that means she really struggles to grab me. It's made worse by her main plot being a basic romance plot where the gimmick is that she's a reasonable human being and Dave isn't. And neither are able to have a normal fucking conversation about it either. The mixed signals thing could've been interesting, but this is Fresh TV writters, so of course it didn't end up that way. I assume the episodes without Dave are the ones where her personality shines more? Because so far she's just been really reserved and calm. And said she'd "focus on the competition only" And then. Doesn't. Really. God i wish this season treated it's female characters better :(
OK SO OVERALL THOUGHTS:
Im mixed on alot of the character decisions
god i wished these people talked more
the screentime is not well split among the cast
the romance plots and pacing of the Island plot are the weakest parts of this season
the challenges are fine
Why does Chef have 5 lines total.
Pahkitew Island does NOT deserve the overly negative rep it gets in this Fandom, at least based on the first 8 episodes.

random OC ask: say your OC is a love interest (in BG3 or a relationship-heavy game format of your choosing) — what does their first romance or "deepening the relationship" cutscene look like?
OOOOO, I'VE NEVER CONSIDERED THIS BECAUSE I'M THE ONE ALWAYS ROMANCING OTHERS. WHAT A GOOD QUESTION.
Strap in because this is going to be a loooong post. I could make a whole write up for each of these interactions with how intricate they are and my process behind each one. It may even be fun to do another post exploring what their character arc would be if they were proper companions in a BG3 run instead of just a Tav/Durge character.
These are all written with the idea that each of them are companions in your party during a standard BG3 run. There's still the same premise of the threat of tadpoles and the Absolute, so there's some common ground that the love interest (you) has with each of the members immediately to bring them together.

Wyndolyn
Tumblr media
Wyndolyn will approach you early on in the evening and ask if you'd like to take a walk with her later on when everyone else is asleep. If you agree, then she'll wait for you by the edge of camp that night before leading you down to the river. As you walk in the moonlight along the bank, she'll open up to you a bit and take you to a spot that reminds her of happier days. She smiles a bit more and her face softens as she tells you about one of her sillier memories from when she first used to run off into the woods outside Baldur's Gate. She laughs a bit at how dumb she was, and comments that she probably isn't much brighter now. She meets your gaze for a moment, then turns her eyes to the river. She proceeds to wade into the water a bit and grabs a stone to give to you. It's a smooth, round stone that fits well in your hand. "I always like to keep something like this in my pocket because it makes me feel at home. I thought you might like one, too." She blushes a bit as she takes your hand and places the stone in it, then wraps your fingers around the rock. She holds your hand for a lingering moment before letting it go and taking a step back, smiling at you. After another moment of looking in each other's eyes, she'll say that it's getting late and that you two should head back to camp for the night. With a light touch, she takes your hand and leads you back to your tent, saying a warm goodnight before heading to her own bedroll.
Helena
Tumblr media
Helena is often shy. As you garner approval with her, she'll let you in on her witty, snarky comments, small stash of pickpocketed goodies, or the little pranks she plays around camp. She's slow to open up, but she becomes even more fun and chaotic when she does. She especially loves it if you're willing to help her cause a little commotion around camp or while out on an adventure.
The moment you know that you've made strong headway with Helena is that one night, while everyone else is asleep, she'll wake you up with a gentle nudge. When you open your eyes, you see Helena is sitting next to you and shaking. She isn't looking at you, but her hand is still lingering on your shoulder. Her eyes look a million miles away. "S-sorry... I just... really didn't want to be alone right now..." She leaves her hand on your shoulder, the touch so subtle you barely feel her fingers. After a few moments of sitting like that, her breath starts to stabilize and she'll ask if you'd like to take a walk with her. When you two get far enough away from camp that she doesn't think anyone will overhear you, she admits that she's embarrassed about the situation and that she even considered waking you. She tells you how she has nightmares sometimes, bad ones, and always hates waking up alone. You were the first person she thought to reach out to in that moment, and she's grateful you sat with her. "Please don't tell anyone about this. I promise I'll be fine by the morning. This just happens sometimes, is all. I get over it and everything goes back to normal when the sun comes up. This can be our little secret, okay?" She holds her finger up to her lips with that last statement and gives you a playful smirk, though she still looks a bit nervous. You agree to keep this to yourself, and she thanks you while giving your hand a small squeeze. You make your way back to camp afterwards, her hand grazing yours as you walk, and say goodnight to each other before returning to your separate bedrolls.
Dahlia
Tumblr media
One night, around the campfire, Dahlia will ask if she can share something personal with you after everyone else goes to sleep. She doesn't see the issue with her wording, but the way it comes across, it sounds like it could be a confession of sorts. If you tell her yes, she'll smile and tell you to meet her in her tent later that evening. When you come to see her, she's sat on the floor writing in a book. When she hears you come in, she looks at you and her smile brightens. She scooches across the floor to make space for you to sit, but you're still stuck sitting very close because of how cluttered her tent is with books and random bits of cloth that are covered with her yellow and green thread. Not to mention her large stature that already takes up most of the space.
Dahlia shows you the book she was writing in and confides that as much as she's always loved to read, she's never really tried her hand at writing before. She's always wanted to write a book of her own, but felt that she never had the right inspiration. Now though, with an adventure like the one she's been forced into with you all, she thought that it would be a great time to start. She'll ask you if you'd be willing to read what she has so far and tell her your thoughts. When you go to read it, you notice that the name that comes up the most commonly is yours. She mentions the others and is very detailed about the places and events, but her writing seems to be the most focused on you, your actions, and her thoughts about you, all which are quite flattering. She doesn't seem to realize that though, and so after a few moments, she'll say, "I've never felt capable of voicing my thoughts, but for some reason, I feel like I can with you. I'd love to know what you think. Do you think there's anything I'm missing?" She leans in a bit closer to you, and in this moment, you can either kiss her, take her hand and tell her your thoughts, or simply lean back and excuse yourself.
Let's assume you kiss her since we're going for romance. If you do, she'll be shocked. She doesn't pull away, but it takes her a moment to reciprocate. After a moment, she'll pull away with wide eyes. "I... I didn't think... I never thought..." She has a hard time finding her words, but what it comes down to is that she has never been loved like that and never imagined she could experience a kiss like the ones she's read in countless stories. She's ecstatic and stuck in a moment of shock. "Could I try that again?" she asks after she regains a bit of composure, and if you allow her to, she'll lean in and kiss you once more, this time a bit deeper and with more intent. The screen will fade to black afterwards, leaving the two together in Dahlia's tent in each others' arms.
Vero
Tumblr media
One night, after making eyes at you across the fire all evening, Vero will make her way over to you and ask if you'd like to spend some time together that evening. She's very collected and precise in her delivery. If you say yes, she gives you a soft smile and tells you to come by when everyone else has gone to bed. "Don't keep me waiting too long, alright~?" With that, she goes off to her tent with a bit of a sway in her step. When everyone else is asleep, you make your way to her tent. Just as you're about to enter, you hear something from inside. It's Vero's voice, and she sounds distressed. "Dammit! Why'd you have to go and make a mess now? You bloody imbecile! Idiot, idiot!" When you open the tent, you see Vero on the floor, surrounded by instruments. She's holding a drum that has a massive hole where the drum skin should be. The wood seems to be cracked and jagged too, as if someone tried to rip it in half or smash it unsuccessfully. There's a few bloodstains on the wood, and looking at Vero's hand, you see a large gash on her right palm. The rest of the tent is very tidy and organized, but Vero looks frantic. She sees you and her shaking ceases. Her eyes are wide and her cheeks turn red, something you've never seen before, as she yells, "get out!" She waves at you frantically with her bleeding hand to get out of her tent, leaving you out in the cold.
After a few moments, she collects herself and steps outside. She smooths her hair back with her clean hand and looks you in the eye as you two stand out in the evening air. "I'm... Sorry about that." You ask what happened, and she tells you that she was trying to tidy up for you. Light some candles, lay out some blankets, all those sorts of things, very romantic and whatnot, and when sorting through her instrument collection, she doesn't know what happened. Her eyes fall to the side with her next words and her hands start to fidget a bit. "Sometimes... Sometimes I do things without realizing what they are until it's too late. For some reason, I saw my drum and... Well..." She turns to meet your gaze again, her fingers still twiddling. "Let's call it an intrusive thought." After a moment, her fidgeting stops and she takes your hand in her uninjured one. She looks at you with a sheepish smile, and her typically cool, calm demeanor is missing. She seems softer, more unsure of herself. "I'm sorry, I must've spoiled your evening with all this." If you tell her that nothing has been spoiled, she'll chuckle a bit. "You're sweet to say such flattering things, even if you don't mean them. Would you still want to spend the evening with me, even after that unsightly display?"
If you tell her yes, she'll pull you by the hand and lead you back into her tent where you sit together on the soft purple blanket she laid out, surrounded by soft silk pillows. She reaches into a small chest and pulls out some gauze, then holds it out to you. "Would you mind...?" she asks with that soft, nervous voice. If you say yes, she offers you her hand to gently bandage, then when it's done, she leans in close to you and places a gentle kiss on your lips, her bandaged hand resting on your leg and her other hand on your cheek. After a moment, she pulls away, smiles at you, and thanks you for your kindness. The scene fades away to the next morning from there.
Sahed
Tumblr media
Sahed approaches you one evening when the others have all moved to their sleeping spots and you're preparing for bed. He pulls you to the side when you're walking to your bedroll and confesses to you that he's been watching you since you've met. He believes you've proven yourself to be a remarkable individual time and time again so far on your journey together. He's not impressed with most people, but he finds you to be a rare specimen. As he's praising you, he steps into your space, closing the distance between you two. His voice lowers and his finger starts to trace the back of your hand as he tells you how he'd like to know more about you and your abilities. He leans in close to your ear as he asks, "won't you let me learn all there is to know about you, little pup?"
If you tell him yes, he'll give you a devilish smile, take your hand with a soft grip, and lead you away from camp. Once he feels he's lured you far enough, he'll release his grip on your hand, take a step away to face you, and command you to remove your clothes. If do as he says, he smirks and will move in close to circle you and examine your exposed form. He does not touch you at all, only looks with an intense, degrading gaze as he moves slowly. After what feels like ages, he steps back to where he was standing before and crosses his arms. "Kneel for me." If you follow his orders and kneel at his feet, he'll reach down and hold your chin with a gentle touch. "Good pet," he says with a silky voice, then kneels down to reward you with a soft, chaste kiss. As he pulls away, he stares deep into your eyes and says, "I want you to be mine. If you serve me and reveal all your secrets to me, you will have all my affection. Is that what you want, little pup? To serve me?" If you tell him yes, then he will kiss you once more, leaning in this time for a much deeper kiss. He leans further into you until he pushes you down to the ground, and from there, the scene fades to black.
Velora
Tumblr media
Velora will approach you one night and ask if you'd like to spend a bit of time with her. She has a surprise planned, but needs to wait until everyone else is asleep before she can show you. If you agree, she lights up and tells you to come find her tent when the others have all gone to bed. Later that night in Velora's tent, she has a plethora of flowers scattered about on the floor. She smiles when you enter, waving you to take a seat next to her. "I was hoping to do something nice for everyone and make some flower crowns. Do you think that'd be silly?" If you tell her it wouldn't be, she beams and turns her attention back to her piles. She has them sorted by flower types and colors. "What do you think would work best for everyone? I found a few night orchids, and I know those are Shadowheart's favorite. Maybe these red poppies for Karlach? Though they might burst into flame if she tries to wear it... Maybe I could make her a wreath?" She turns to you and looks in your eyes, pondering what colors would suit you. "What about you?" she asks. "What flowers would you like?" She waits for your answer, and after you point at a flower, she'll pick a few out of the pile she has and begin to weave something together. As she goes, she blushes and tells you about how she used to love making crowns when she was small, but she never had anyone to give them to besides her parents. "I always had so many piled up in a basket in my room. It means a lot to finally have people I can make these for."
She finishes a crown for you and leans in close to place it on top of your head. "Well, what do you think?" You can either simply tell her you like it, or close the gap to kiss her. If you kiss her, she's shocked. She pulls away quickly, falls back on her bottom, and covers her mouth. She is stunned into shock. After a moment of staring at you with wide eyes, she'll stutter and make her way back to the flower crowns, mumbling about what the other party members might like. She avoids eye contact with you and is burning bright red as she tries to weave another crown with shaking hands. You can move closer to her and kiss her on the cheek or ask if she's alright. If you peck her on the cheek, she'll freeze and turn to face you, covering her cheek with her hand and leaning away from your body. You sit like that with her for what feels like a while, and eventually, with a face still burning and eyes wide in disbelief, Velora will slowly and hesitantly lean in to kiss you one more time. Eventually her body relaxes and she leans into the kiss a bit more. After a moment, she'll pull away with a soft, nervous smile on her face. Her eyes, which were wide in panic just a moment ago, are now soft and sparkling. "I've never had a true love's kiss before. What a wonderful experience." If you are willing, she kisses you again, this time without the hesitation that plagued her only a moment ago, and the scene fades out from there.
Gardon
Tumblr media
Okay, Gardon is a dragon, BUT HEAR ME OUT. Since he is tadpoled in this scenario, the effects it has on his body limit his powers greatly. He is trapped in his dragonborn form for the time being since that was the form he received the tadpole in, but similarly to Astarion, the effects of his curse are negated. He still is sick and breathes lava instead of fire, but he is not compelled to do evil like before and for the first time in centuries can finally act on a will truly of his own. This leads to him being very hesitant to be rid of the tadpole, since in this state, he can finally be a force of honor rather than chaos.
With that in mind, if you show morals of honor and good, Gardon will approach you one evening. He will sit next to you by the fire and stare into the flames. "It's odd..." he speaks, unprompted. "The only being I've ever admired was someone from so long ago. I haven't seen her in centuries. When I look at you though..." He turns his gaze from the fire to you. "You remind me so much of her. You are a mortal she would've found worthy of her respect." He is hesitant to place his hand on yours, but does so with a clumsy touch. He has only hurt mortals like you for so long and is so afraid to do any damage. He leaves his hand on yours for a while, then eventually stands and turns to face you. "It is late. You should turn in for the evening." You stand up next to him, and as you do, he reaches for your hand one more time. He holds it in both of his and squeezes it gently. "Good night, my friend." With that, Gardon makes his way back to his tent, not to sleep, but to think about these feelings and what he should do.
---
This post is the culmination of hours of thought and editing over multiple days. I really wanted to sit down and think what scenarios would really feel right and intriguing for each character and how they would approach their own vulnerabilities and insecurities (or completely avoid them. Lookin at you Sahed). I think Vero may have been the most difficult to figure out. She's fairly complex, and I wasn't sure if I should approach this with her as a bhaalspawn or not. I did come to a decision, but I'll leave it open to interpretation what you think! We even got Gardon in there for anyone who wants to romance a real dragon, which I totally respect. His scenario is much less detailed for now, but he has a lot of his own character growth to do before being able to romance anyone, especially a mortal.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed it! Who would you try to romance? Let me know if you'd like to see any of these events in more detail or where they lead to next! I could expand on these stories all day!

Idk if your requests are still open, im still quite new to tumblr :,) If they are not then feel free to ignore this :D Also, i’m really fond of your work, and i hope your taking care of yourself too!
And to not waste yer time, heres a request(?)
The brothers with an angel mc (maybe with lord diavolo and barbatos too) Tho its completely up to you, just take care of yourself!!
Hi! Welcome to tumblr! And yes, my requests are open. I was actually running out of creativity so thank you from saving me. I'm happy you like my work, and it's sweet of you to care about ky well being, I hope you're doing good too!
Anyways, on with the request. I hope you like it!
the brothers, barbatos and diavolo with an angel mc
-> brothers, barbatos and diavolo x mc
mc's gender is not mentioned, this is not proof read
content warnings: lesson 16 spoilers, very mild angst
-----
Lucifer
he never thought the day would come where he'd be interacting with angels other than simeon
you honestly remind him of his old days, and that fact made lucifer slightly unhappy to be around you
but, after he sees how strong the bond between you and his brothers is, he starts letting his walls down
you two eventually start building a strong bond, you sometimes help him out with all the paperwork, which he appreciates a ton
angel, demon or human, it doesn't change lucifer's affection towards you in the end
Mammon
you are actually able to stop mammon from any weird scemes to make money, such as gambling at an illegal casino or stealing his brothers' wallets
he will act like he's sad about this, but deep down he will be grateful for what you are doing
you encourage him to earn money in a legal way, like picking up jobs
it's still mammon, so he will be impulsively spending the grimm, but because he is stealing less, his relationship with his brothers has improved
he will show gratitude by buying you nice gifts
Leviathan
levi expected you to treat him like a gross shut-in otaku 'like everyone else'
but... you didn't, you were nice
you often have to remind him to not speak so negatively about himself though
as a result, levi became attached to you and despite his shy tendencies, he will ask you to hang out in his room
he is also kind of curious how things are up in the celestial realm nowadays, but he doesn't ask about it
Satan
unlike all of his brothers, satan has never been an angel before and he's lowkey curious what it's like to be one
sure, he's read his books, but he's more interested in hearing your experiences
you are more than happy to tell him and from what you said, satan was glad he had never been an angel
thus, you two often spend late nights together, having conversations about these topics, or really anything else
satan feels the most comfortable around you, regardless of his internalized dislike towards angels
Asmodeus
oh, he adores you
there won't be a day where asmo won't tell you how beautiful and ethereal you are
often, when you are hanging out, and you show him your wings, asmo will gush over them and start decorating them with ribbons and flowers
after the fall, he found it hard to accept his new form and he honestly still isn't 100% comfortable being a demon, but seeing you made it all easier to deal with
expect to have many impromptu photoshoots with him
Beelzebub
his first reaction was to ask you to make food from the celestial realm
he was half joking, but you actually did it and it tasted better than any of the store-brought celestial realm delicacies
every time you are on cooking duty, beel will stand outside if the kitchen waiting fir you to finish
food isn't the only thing you bond over though
you also attend a lot of his games, every time he sees you in the crowd, his mood and focus immediately improves, you're his cheerleader
Belphegor
first of all, the whole lesson 16 ordeal won't take place, so your relationship won't start off rocky like that which is good in a way
it is also bad in a way because belphie will continue hating humans
you, being the angel you are, decided to teach belphegor how to accept humans again
it was a long proces, but eventually he stopped hating them
thanks to this, he is also visibly more happy and at peace with himself
he has you to thank for that
Diavolo
the prince of the devildom and an angel in the same room? what is this, a crossover episode? (sorry I had to, please somebody get the reference so I don't look like a fool thank you)
diavolo is happy to meet you though, he wants to improve the bonds between the three worlds after all
he spends his time around you like a kid in a candy store, he's so excited to hear your stories about the celestial realm
yes, there's simeon as well, but diavolo feels more at home around you
he will often invite you to fancy dinners or parties, he likes your company
Barbatos
well, diavolo wants to improve ties with the other realms so at first he doesn't really pay attention to you outside of his lord's needs
however, he can't help but slowly start to admire you from afar
he had seen angels before, but never one as gentle and kind as you
barbatos will start interacting witn you soon enough, for example by inviting you to bake sweets with him
he will show his admiration by performing acts of service for you, like bringing you warm tea when you're tired
the more he is around you, the more his attraction grows

This time it's a Tumblr post that's got me talking but here's the thing
Shibano writes Mashima's characters better than Mashima himself.
In the twin dragons of Sabertooth he actually managed to give more personality to Yukino, Orga and Rufus.
Yukino has a more feisty side to her and is shown as very capable and although both Orga and Rufus are only there for a couple of scenes with the one most of note being their interaction with Rogue, we still get to see Orga showing that he is actually quite smart where he identified that the spots on Frosch's suit were different than usual when Rufus -the guy who prides himself on remembering everything- didn't (this scene is the main reason I see them as being best friends if not a couple outside of them always being put together in any shots they both are in including that one cover. Orga taking note of small details absolutely came from Rufus' influence and I love that)
Sting and Rogue also get really developed personalities as well because they don't get much of that in the main story really. Like Rogue getting mad at Sting for hurting Frosch's feelings and disbanding the team over it is just so petty to me. It adds on to the pettiness that the first thing Rogue does when they team up again and Sting is in direct danger is Rogue just slapping him and then just going "yes I feel much better now" which was probably one of the best things I could have ever seen.
The Rhodonite manga is great too because not only does Levy get her time to shine of actually showing why she was nominated S-class but we get the Juvia I actually like in this one. Yeah she still has her quips about Gray as jokes but it isn't her whole thing. And she's actually got other reasons for being there besides tailing Gray which is great. Plus we get Gajeel backstory and more asshole Gajeel which was fun to read. Then in the second half we get to see his interactions with Cobra and how he begrudgingly teams up with him to save the kids (delving into Gajeel's love of children because it isn't touched on much except a couple lines in the series and one or two in a character moment in the game)
Then the Lightning god one which I already adore for the additional Freed content (and Ponytailed Freed had me desperate to draw it) but also the way it handles Laxus and Freed's relationship is chef's kiss.
Half the time Freed's attachment to Laxus is made into a joke (which is probably why some compare him to Juvia in that regard although thankfully Freed hasn't been character assassinated yet) but here it's tackled with a serious tone. The first half is mostly a rescue mission and the thunder legion aren't too important in it since it's mostly Laxus although Freed does try to encourage Laxus to understand Blue Pegasus.
The second half is the real heavy hitters. The villain of that half tricks the Thunder legion into thinking she's Laxus and gaslights them by telling them that they call themselves his body guards and yet they stand behind Laxus, letting him take the damage. To which Laxus reminds them why that happens (also small backstory to how they formed a team with Laxus and I'm a sucker for a good bit of backstory. Plus I love looking at teen Laxus because he's so scrawny compared to what he is in present canon and it's funny to me to see that the second muscliest guy in the guild was a scrawny teen. Even Elfman was decently bulky meanwhile Laxus was lanky and I love it)
It's the best iterations of a lot of these characters outside or their original arcs where the got introduced and grew. I desperately wish the main story (I guess 100 yrs quest) was written with this same level of care and detail.
Hell, the author actually apologises in a note for a mistake he made in one of the chapters in the Rhodonite manga (if I remember right, he got the amount of years that Gajeel had been away from Denish wrong and saying a year that wouldn't have worked as Gajeel would still have been with Metalicana.) And I love his little sketch at the end of the Rhodonite manga.

Finally have a chance to throw my thoughts together! And boy do I have them!!
Just ahshshs- lyney you’re so smart and cunning but also pretty dense my guy. I’m so glad you have moral standards but the fact your first thought when thawed!reader wants to kiss you is that ‘oh she is just drunk, :(‘ as opposed to ‘Ah! I may actually have a slight chance’ says something. I know you’re basing your thoughts on imperfect information and past experiences but please- I’m begging you- I know you have a big brain please use it-
But honestly, my heart goes out to him. In his half of the pov his pinning is so clear to see. I’m willing to bet money that Lyney would just happily accept the fact that he can interact with t!reader on some sort of positive level again, no matter if he is just a friend forever because she’s back! She’s real again, not just rose-tinted memories and this silent secret between the twins and Freminet. He is going through these extra and at times inconvenient steps just to keep her safe, even going against his own desires (letting Childe keep an eye on her while he goes to father) and even against his own loyalties to an extent ( i mean, the sensible loyal fauti thing to do would be to immediately report that the previously awol/MIA solider was found, wouldn’t it? )
ALSO THE ‘MON LAPIN’ NICKNAME!?! So many thoughts AND feelings on that!! *insert the cork board meme*
It fits so well!! I looked up some rabbit information just to see and rabbits are so skittish! I checked it out and so many things can set them off- bad experiences, new lotion smell, smelling like a different animal like a cat!! Like they not recommended to be children pets cause you gotta be gentle. But they’re so active! Not to mention herbivores!! Lyney may not know the truth but I’m sure he knows where his gift was delivered too! Thawed reader is a rabbit confirmed.
Looking outside of lyney and t!reader’s interactions though, it’s always so interesting to see t!reader’s other interactions. The obvious joy she has when she realizes Lynette showed up, and Lynette’s instant care in asking if t!reader has anywhere safe to go to. The tense somewhat friendship forming between aether and her, where a slight misstep could mean destruction of her life but there’s enough going on for minor banter and to try and help recover from a hangover (the water, and my current guess is that is the reason why her drink is different at the end) and now the beginnings of co-conspirators between Childe and her; the former laughing and seems to be almost excited while the latter is even more tense and nervous because it’s about to get a whole lot more complicated
ALSO CHILDE! SMART MAN, SO GLAD YOU’RE IN THE KNOW! Welcome to the peanut gallery of lyney and t!reader’s relationship! Hope you enjoy the show! But now that childe is officially an active player in the story, it’s making me think about the current time line and how different it’s gonna go from the canon game. As of right now, the only confirmed event from the Fontaine archon/various other quests is Lyney and Lynette’s trial since Childe has yet to be accused of anything (so we can assume that the missing people case is still ongoing) and aether is specifically doing this to see if he can trust the twins (something you can argue about him realizing via/during Lyney’s story quest). Especially know with the knaves early arrival to push things along
I should stop myself at this point so imma just leave off with the fact Lyney is starting to feel something as wrong when faced with Childe at the party AND the fact that t!reader remembering a fair bit of what happened, but the key point being that’s it’s very blurry has me kicking and freaking out. It’s gonna get much more messy real soon.
-deadman aether anon
HI DEADMAN AETHER ANON!!! its so wonderful to have you back AND ITS SO WONDERFUL TO ME TO SEE THIS ASK I AAS LIKE WHOAAA HELL YEA
i didnt really think too much about the bunny nickname even i was so shocked by that info!! i just heard from my friend that its one of the common french nicknames—and i thought it fit because of lyneys whole magician thing,,, like magicians and rabbits…. BUT THATS SO COOL!!!! makes the nickname so deeper than whatbi initially thought 🙏🙏
AND YEAAHHH its definitely overwhelming for our mc to be exposed so suddenly to so many people who seem to be willing to be friends w her! its been rosalie and its only been Father before 😢
the canon game event is gonna be veeeerrryyy detached from the game bc im going to be ignoring it for the sake of not copying it and just inserting MC in. if i did that, THAWED woukd just be a longer version of my other fic, Sleight of Hand HAHAHA. either way, since im writing this before arlecchino’s official release, i think i might end up mischaracterizing her…..so im a bit nervous about that. i think in THAWED shes definitely going to be a bit more evil than what she might be in-game

i've been seeing a never-ending discourse about how rina's position in s4 will be like portwell's, with ricky graduating and gina still a junior and let me break it to you: it's not the same. and i don't mean the age gap.
ej and gina started their relationship at the very end of the school year, which means ej already has one foot outside school, while gina still has two years ahead of her. the beginning of s3 makes it clear their relationship is very new (emphasis on "first boyfriend", "summer of firsts"). so basically, they're getting together while ej is already entering a new stage in his life, so there is nothing solid about their relationship to hold on to, because this is the beginning of it. if they had gotten together at the start of s2, things would be different, because they'd have a whole semester to build their connection. and don't say they've been friends since s1 and that's enough, because a platonic relationship is very different from a romantic one. gina expects different things from it.
now, ricky and gina are being honest about their feelings before ricky's final year starts. they'll have a whole year to figure out how they work romantically, and they will build a solid base, and later figure out how to keep making things work even after ricky leaves school. and yeah, the stress and fame could break them apart, but it'd be nothing similar to portwell's downfall. ricky is still a senior, he's not on the verge of graduating. he will still see her every day, they will be joining the school play together.
and while we're at it, i'd like to address some very rude comments about gina (and the other kids) being "unfair" to ej during s3. as someone who absolutely loved ej's arc in s3, because he finally got one rsrs, it's absurd to me how people fail to see that his friends did try to support him in their own way.
there are two very different visions about ej this season: how the adults see him, and how the teens see him. throughout the whole season, he's standing in the middle of it, not knowing what to do, but, at the end, he falls to the adult side, because that's his development.
when ej comes to the camp this last time, he's a mentor. val, channing, dewey and miss jenn interact with him and give him responsibilities he didn't ask for because they see him as a young adult, not one of the kids in the camp. do you see val participating in the games? no, she's not part of any team in color wars, she's not part of the play. the thing is, ej came to camp thinking he would just have fun, but being a “senior” in camp as well comes with these responsibilities he wasn't ready for, and the adults are the ones helping him navigate through it because that's their role. he goes to val for advice with his dad; he goes to miss jenn for advice with the play; he directly deals with channing and corbin when they're trying to call off the documentary. the fact that val is the one who comforts him in the end of the season shows he made through it. it was a transition.
the east high crew, at first, sees him as one of them; they try to include him in all of the camp activities, and that's their way of showing they care for him – they want him around, want him to be part of the group. and it takes them a while to understand he won't be able to, and that it's not his fault, but neither is theirs. ricky's jab "are you sure?" to ej on the last episode is more of a "you've been pushing us way too hard for a while now", because that's exactly what ej was doing, like he was already their teacher or something. when ej says they're theater kids and will do things their way, that's him making amends. when ej says to ricky during the premiere "i could fake slap you, but you're my brother", that's him showing once again that he has grown up and will not carry high school grudges with him. it doesn't mean he's a "superior person"; only that all of their previous animosity is behind him.
gina tries to be understanding when he promises things and don't show up. she tries again, and again, to save what they have, but how can you save something you don't even fully know because it's still so new? you can say "ej is doing all this so he can stay with her", but no one believes that – not even ej himself. he's doing this to prove to his father he can make his own choices and be successful in them. he's trying to show his father he's not a kid anymore, to be ordered around. that’s his arc during season 3.
you could also say "yeah, but even if they're in different stages, the east high crew are still his friends and they still should comfort him" and yeah, sure. but this is a 8-episode teen comedy show, and the narrative tries, and suceeds, to tell the audience that ej has grown up and is moving on. just like they told the audience that nini is not coming back. ej probably will come back, but no longer as one of the kids; therefore, his relationship with them has to change.
