I am entering a new phase in my life. I feel a shift is about to happen. I will experience something beyond my wildest imagination. This phase will require me to reinvent myself. I just have to be prepared for it.

Start the New Year Now.

Dear Twenty-Ones,
As we all know, the year 2023 is less than 20 days away. Almost everyone who celebrates feels the need to turn a new leaf. We create a list of resolutions or goals that we would like to achieve in the new year. But many people lose sight of what they want almost a month in. They fall back into old habits or stick to the same old routine.
Yeah… let’s not do that and work for what we really want.
Here are some ways to get started or prepared for the new year 2023🧧

Create your resolution/goal list now. This will allow you to sort through and identify how you would genuinely like your new year to be. Take your time with your list and be honest.
Perform mirror work. Stand in front of the mirror each morning and tell yourself positive affirmations. This will get you in the grove of loving yourself intently and can build your confidence for the new year!
Do at home workouts for the remainder of the year. Many people wait for the new year to begin to get a gym membership. Reasons can vary such as not wanting to be billed the annual payment for this year then subsequently the next. Workout at home to build up strength for the gym.
Set your clock 15 minutes earlier each day. Many people list waking up earlier as a goal for the new year. You can work yourself into doing just that by training yourself. 15 minute increments will allow you to ease into it and build that routine.
Drink 2-3 L of water a day. Wanting better skin for the new year? A healthier lifestyle? Go ahead and drink more water. Add some lemon and mint for a refreshing taste and to detox.
Try out new skincare products. It’s not a secret that Korean skincare has been running the market for the last couple of years. Some suggestions: Soon Jung, Cosrx, The Face Shop, Innisfree. Non-Korean suggestions: Paula’s Choice, CeraVe. I will withhold specific product suggestions for now as to encourage you to do research for your own skin type. But I promise, they work!
Use Gua Sha morning or night. Using the tool can help reduce puffiness in the face. Research different methods on how to use it and get started. If you cannot get a tool, YouTube has many videos about facial hand massages.
Create vision board for 2023 on Pinterest, Tumblr, Canva, etc. Creating your vision board now will help you sort through your goals and ideas for the new year. You can also print it out sooner and post it in places you will be able to see everyday.
Create a bill planner to sort through monthly finances. By using a bill planner, you can determine how much of your money or paycheck you will need to save for monthly bills. In addition to this, you can determine how to use the remainder. For personal use? For vacations? Groceries and projects? Let’s get our finances right in 2023!
Start manifesting. To get started, purchase a small journal/notebook. Write down your manifestations and gratitude. This can be done in the morning or at night, however setting your intentions earlier in the day can help you feel more positive.

finding peace
it’s all about finding that peace and not letting things disturb it for so long. i wanted to write something about what i’m doing to give myself that peace, and the mindset i have going into the new year.
things im doing to maintain my peace
drink new types of tea, drink less coffee.
read more literature
doodle, scribble, make visual art
starting a book club
commonplace journaling about my favorite things (this one is more bc im autistic)
engage with things i enjoy
feeling more things and getting rid of the things that don’t make me feel happy

using face masks/taking care of my skin
taking candid pictures of my friends

practicing spirituality

be present with intention. disassociation can kill your head even if it feels better.
i’m not waiting around for someone to give me love and care. i’m doing it for myself this time, no questions or regrets.
if it doesn’t make me happy, then i don’t have to engage with it/claim that energy.

2023 Mentality.

Dear Twenty-Ones,
Adapting a new mindset is never easy. It usually proves to be difficult to shape the way you think and act in one go. It takes time and effort. So how can you adopt a new mindset this new year?
How:
Create a journal. Use a journal to write down your thoughts, feelings, and accounts of your day. Writing can help you sort through problems you may be facing. A journal can also be used to manifest or express gratuity. You can write down goals you have in mind and write about the things you are presently grateful for.
Avoid social media in the morning. It is an understatement to say that social media plays a large role in our lives. Social media may be a common denominator for depression, comparison, and self hatred. Social media may also distract you from completing important tasks. This boils down to dopamine however that is another topic I’ll expand on in a separate post. Complete important tasks in the morning and indulge in social media later in the day.
Be intentional with your day. We all usually have a set of tasks to complete throughout the day. Organizing your day is important to allow time to spend with family, friends, and yourself. Intentionally prioritizing important tasks at the beginning of the day will allow you more time for other activities.
Say daily affirmations. Most people will find themselves in front of a mirror when getting ready for the day. At that point, it may be beneficial to tell yourself positive affirmations. This is called mirror work. Mirror work can help you build confidence and allow you to start your day off on a positive note. Daily affirmations can consist of phrases such as: I am beautiful, I am smart, etc. Other affirmations can be: I will have a great day today.
Listen to motivational podcasts. To limit screen time people may listen to a podcast. Although there are many genre of podcasts on apps such as Spotify and YouTube, motivational podcasts can help you learn tips on becoming more confident or stronger in your lifetime.
Reduce your number of friends. As you get older you may find yourself increasing or reducing your number of friends. Or at least the number of people who have access to you. When building a new mindset you may need to drop people who are not growing. Unfortunately, people have a tendency to become jealous of another’s success. As you grow and become successful some people that you have loved dearly may not be happy for you. It is important to be surrounded by people who are on a growth mindset just like yourself.
Network. Go out to social meetings for topics you are passionate about. For example, UX designers may meet up for coffee with other designers. This can help you grow in your profession and meet others who can potentially elevate your life.
Slow your reaction time. When hearing criticism, whether it be constructive or not, you may react too quickly. This can take the form of responding harshly, crying abruptly, etc. It is important to take into consideration what is being said to you. Responding quickly can dampen the person you are. Think over what was said and determine if it is important to you. Otherwise, ignore and do not reply to the person insulting you. If you are consistently being criticized, you can build a boundary with the speaker or no longer have a relationship with them.
Go to therapy. Of course therapy involves insurance and payments so this is an option if you are financially ready. Therapy can help you resolve past traumas and play as an outlet for emotions. Therapists are able to help you grow and become content with your present life while simultaneously teach you ways to improve.

Touched up my hair again. In trying to change my appearance, I’m doing all I can to alter myself completely. I don’t resonate with who I used to be because all I am now is just an empty shell of someone I once was. I’m moving forward towards reinventing my identity, one I lost somewhere in all the madness. I’m more independent. I’m more self-sufficient. I’m no longer just allowing anyone into my life. No, I’m very cautious of who I call a friend and therefore, I’ve cut a majority of my old friends off. I want people in my life who care about me the way I care about them, unconditionally. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the greatest friend group. I didn’t have a support system. Honestly, it would’ve just been better off if I was alone. Now that I reinvented myself, I’ve left all that behind. I’m not one to give out second chances anymore. I’ll just live my life more selfishly, for me. In the end, it’s my happiness that matters most to me. I can’t put anyone first anymore. It’s just me, myself, and I. This coming year everything is going to change. I’m moving forward. I’m stepping away from those that only ever brought me down. I’m finding peace.

How do you start afresh at 45… it’s been a month since she left. I am still sitting in my own emotions, remembering what MY emotions are… I had lost myself in her…. The shame that carried… that was a month ago….
So proud of the way I have carried myself in such a hard situation. After such a long time together.. nearly 2 decades… well really how long were we really together… if ever.
The outcome of such a long toxic relationship with someone with NPD. You dive in so quick and I love/d soo hard.. I did not know that it was not real, it was real to me. She was my perfect mirror.. I honestly thought she was perfect for me.. I loved her hard… the trauma bond was sealed(I had no clue what a trauma bond was!)I could feel myself drowning and losing who I was… but I thought I could get her to see the way of love if I committed to it and loved her hard and appeased her every desire and disregarded her lack of return of effort or to use her words… “ I never made you feel like you were the most important person to me in the room”… it was one of the most honest statements ever made… Her actions backed this over and over again… Why did I still think things would change…I was 100% in constant freeze..always activated… always hyper vigilant… why did I stay when I knew I was not where I was safe…life got low… I chose to pass on explanation of this stage… the abuse and shame is still way to great…
It took to get this low to instigate the self sabotage, the losing any reason to continue to supply her feed.. if I can’t leave I will take out any reason for her to stay… yep l thought slowly losing my self worth and any effort into being the person I know I am… I just stopped. I had allowed the poison to take control .. I don’t like how low I have gone… it’s taken 3 years of work to pull me back to this stage to finally have the strength to start creating boundaries to allow me to grow again… this was Met with promises of change but to no avail it was just said in the passing moment cause it felt good and maybe real to her at the time. But it was only ever words… never equated to action..all this was a gift.. it was continue to enable me the sight and strength to know life should not be so dark… life was not dark I was in the dark. But I was gaining strength, I got some professional help.. at first I thought nah I am beyond help. But here I am.. still long way to go but at least I am now able to move forward… but how do you start again at 45!
Every day I am trying to do something new for me, it’s not happening quick but it’s happening. I can’t compare to her… she is behaving as someone with NPD would… I am erased and she has never been happier… a well timed song always seems to be there when you need them… it’s called someone else’s problem now(Raul) it was perfect timing. Not kidding myself… there are as many backward steps as forward… and they cut deep. So many lonely tears…
I am sitting in my loneliness and learning to turn it into something else … still learning but less hurting so it’s working. My soul is hearing my call to come home… but after sooo long it’s a journey.
I miss me… I am looking towards the future now and rediscovering me again and who I am, what I like… I liked who I used to be… I can never be who I used to be again but I think I can be a better person then I have ever been and shine… it’s not going to happen over night but I will smile again. Writing this reminds me to smile and how far I have come…
Every day I feel safer… still so many unknowns and I am sure difficulties to face but facing them myself and working through the pain… I don’t want to sweep anything under the rug to trip on later. 
Anyhow I hope whoever is unsure of where they are and where they are going might relate to something I have said and make steps towards a brighter light and future..We got this..
