I will never forgive the '90s anime for depriving us of snobby, yet classy and sophisticated (dare I say SASSY and POSH) Rei. You'll hear the sheeple staning for '90s anime Rei say that she's a man hater/misandrist. Yeah, right. She distrusts the opposite sex due to her politician daddy, BIG DIFFERENCE. I love her dynamic with Minako in their short story together. Mina maybe the leader of the Guardians but she's got nothing on Hino-san when it comes to class.
Not understanding WHY she distrust men becasue the simple fact the men in her life, her dad who only thinks about her when it's time for reelection ( barely thought about her mother) and Kaidou who she through was on the same wave length as her pretty much proven to her that guys can't be trusted until they are proven they CAN be trusted.( It's totally an Aries thing! lol) Which you have to remember that this is from the eyes of a 13-14 year old girl. Which after those two the only positive male figure in her life is her grandfather.
But of course people think in Crystal and the Manga she doesn't have a personality because she's not a bitch to Usagi 24/7....

With the sound of the crackling fire filling the air, Rei Hino tuned out the distraction from her mind, allowing her to focus and listen, as she sought guidance and wisdom from the spirit. Lately, the Miko has been suffering from nightmares. And each time she wakes up, she is unable to recall any details about the dream. However, it leaves her with an ominous and fearful feeling. It has gotten so bad that her grandfather has grown concerned for her well-being, noticing how she has been spacing out, along with her pale complexion and bags under her eyes.
Tumblr media
Now that she is attending university full-time, studying hard to gain her diploma, an agreement she made with her father, who will only allow her to freely pursue her dream of becoming a Priestess. Realize that juggling both her Miko duties and her studies has become harder to maintain and balance. Leading her grandfather suggests that they hire a helper. As he painfully admitted, he was getting old and there was much-needed repair and maintenance of the temple that needed to be looked at tasks that were too dangerous for his granddaughter to do on her own. She told him that she would think about it, as her mind was more concerned about the ominous dreams than exhaustion.
As she continued to meditate, sweat droplets appeared on her forehead when the fire erupted, showing the very vision she had witnessed in her dreams. It laughed, echoing in the fire room while its light brown colored eyes struck fear as they pierced into her soul. The Miko was so frightened that she quickly broke the connection immediately. She opened the sliding door of the fire room before inhaling fresh air to calm her trembling nerves. Rei began to question herself about what she had just witnessed. Was this what Sailor Cosmos had warned them about? It had only been a few years since they defeated Sailor Galaxia. How could such a threat arise so soon? When most of the Sailor Senshi had barely recovered from the torture and pain Sailor Galaxia had inflicted on them.
Tumblr media
And before she could calmly sort out her thoughts. Her beloved guardians, Phobos and Deimos, began to cry with such urgency. And sensing the threat itself, the Miko prepared the talisman and released it without thinking, which led to a cry of panic, which sounded faintly familiar to her. "ARGH! Kakyoin!" Looking up. With her hands covering her mouth in shock, she says, "Mi-Michiru-san!"

Ship Bias for Taiga
Send ‘Ship Bias’ and I will share up to 5 Ships I have a bias for for my muse! / Accepting! / @multianime
Tumblr media
Kagakuro ( From the moment I watched this show, Tetsuya practically proposed to him lol. Light and Shadow. They just get each other even without words which is so beautiful. Both of them helped each other to grow so much. )
Saya Otonashi Yes that is my muse ( I also associate Saya with tigers and both of them have red eyes, red theme, and fiery energy aside from being big eaters! I can see them eating burgers and meat in general. )
Hana Shirakami ( @sportbaes showed me a picture of Hana's face claim and her husband does look like Taiga! I took it as a sign. Both of them are also big eaters and she dresses elegantly and elegant girls are his type! )
Shinoa Evans ( I just threw her at him one day and they met while his legs were still recuperating and he was skipping practice. She encouraged him. My Taiga once told Rose's Ryōta Kise that he would respect whoever can lift him up and she absolutely can! She's also elegant. Plus, they were raised abroad and can cook together. He had to get over the fact she's into poly and has other boyfriends but it will work out! )
Rei Hino (I have no expectations I'll ever get to write this out since Rei is distrustful of men, but she is elegant and aside from the fire and red theme, my Taiga also has connections to Shintoism as in my headcanon, the Kagami's are descended from a tiger spirit that tasted the blood of the Fire God, Kagutsuchi. In that same headcanon, his paternal grandfather owns the Kagami shrine and is head priest since his father didn’t inherit his role. They're both from wealthy families and athletic since Rei does archery. )

Otaku Elf Review
Tumblr media
Otaku Elf, also known as Edomae Erufu, is a fantasy comedy anime. It is based on a seven-volume manga illustrated and written by Akihiko Higuchi. Directed by Takebumi Anzai, it is produced by C2C, a studio founded in April 2006. This post will have spoilers.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the thirty-fourth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on June 5, 2023.
This series focuses on a sixteen-year-old named Koito Koganei (voiced by Yuka Ozaki). She becomes a shrine maiden, known as miko, at a shrine in Takamini after the death of her grandfather. As a result, she becomes the caretaker of Eldarie "Elda" Irma Fanomene (voiced by Ami Koshimizu). Elda is an immortal and beautiful elf summoned from another world. Koito encounters challenges as Elda is an otaku and hikikomori/shut-in who fears going outside the shrine following an unpleasant interaction many years prior. Even so, she attempts to get Elda to enjoy life outside the shrine.
Originally, I had not been planning to write a review of this series because I'm already reviewing nine other series this season, either about magical girls (Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure and Tokyo Mew Mew New), legendary warriors (Unicorn Warriors: Eternal), VTubers (Kizuna no Allele), a yuri-themed cafe (Yuri Is My Job!), golf girls (Birdie Wing), idols (Oshi No Ko), or other subjects (Alice Gear Aegis Expansion and Skip and Loafer). One motivation for writing this review was because of Sailor Moon, which I'm currently watching, for the first time. It features Rei Hino as a shrine maiden, when she isn't Sailor Mars.
The animation style, comedy of an immortal elf being an otaku meeting a normal person, and the centrality of food, drew me in. The latter is primarily grounded in the cooking by Koyuzu (voiced by Hitomi Sekine), the younger sister of Koito. The same can be said for Koito and Elda's stories often becoming intertwined. Also, there are characters which are portrayed as "cute", like Koito's friend Koma Sakuraba (voiced by Haruka Aikawa).
I liked that every episode of Otaku Elf has some story about past Japanese culture, especially from the Edo period. Of course, Elda does all she can to impress Koito no matter what. This is despite the fact that although she has a laptop, she doesn't know how to use a cell phone. When she does use it, she texts so much that she angers the spirits! Elda does not know everything, however, and doesn't pretend she is all-knowing. She is wise, but not omniscient.
Yordeilla "Yord" Lila Fenomenea (voiced by Rie Kugimiya) and Himawari Kohinata (voiced by Teru Ikuta) are a good addition to the series. Yord is a dark-skinned elf, who is bad at directions, and has an absurd rivalry with Elda over an equivalent of tic-tac-toe. Dr. Akane Sasaki (voiced by Yumi Uchiyama) was similarly a positive character. In fact, she is shown in the seventh episode with Kadoi, getting drunk at a bar, with both of them as an interesting pair of characters together.
There is undeniable yuri subtext in this series, specifically between Koito and Elda, especially shown in the fifth episode. Otaku Elf has a degree of intimacy it can turn to and expand in each episode. As such, the series centers on the importance of spending time with others above everything else. In that way, Otaku Elf is special.
In marked contrast to Birdie Wing, the value of studying, and education as an extension, is emphasized through Koito's intense studying in the sixth episode. The importance of taking breaks and not over-extending oneself is an interrelated theme.
youtube
I like the slice-of-life nature of Otaku Elf. This makes it different from magic-themed series such as Healer Girl and Management of a Novice Alchemist. Similarly, it is nothing like recent slice-of-life anime. The latter includes Let's Make a Mug Too, The Aquatope on White Sand, Teasing Master Takagi-san, and Laid-Back Camp.
The series differs from YuruYuri, Gabriel DropOut, Is the Order a Rabbit?, Kin-iro Mosaic, Non Non Biyori, K-On!, and Azumanga Daioh, in the same genre. Elda is a living history resource, who is good at origami, but can have awful nightmares. There's occasional casual alcoholism. But, it isn't as present as it is in Bocchi the Rock!. The latter features a sick bassist named Kikuri Hiroi, who spends most of her money on booze.
The seventh Otaku Elf episode was one of the best in the entire series. It primarily focused on Koyuzu and her desire to spend more time with her sister, Koito. Some of the funniest sequences in the episode was when she charmed people in a wholesale market so she could get fish for free.
The latter episode was only rivaled by the eighth episode. It focuses on Elda meeting another elf, named Haira (voiced by Mamiko Noto). Some of the best parts were having the historical remembrance shown in anime style resembling wood block art.  The episode features another miko, named Komari, the same age as Koito. Haira is an elf with beauty only matched by Elda. She is older than Elda and Yolde, treating them as her younger sisters. The episode implied Elda is a lesbian, as she said she liked all the teahouse girls during the Edo period.
By the end of the episode, it is clear that the series is uncritical of the fact that Komari was a social influencer and that Haira was a gambler. Even though Komari was critical of Haira for gambling, she tells Koioto that if Haira is doing what she likes, it is ok. On the one hand, this makes sense as Komari had been with Haira since she was young, allowing her to take candid photographs.
On the other, Otaku Elf, by saying that Haira's desire to be a gambler is ok, implies it is a non-issue and downplays it as a problem. Most gambling is prohibited in Japan. There are exceptions for some motor sports and horse racing. The latter is something that Haira said she wanted to do during the episode.
There is an ample culture of gambling in the island nation. The island has a difficult relationship with it. There is inconsistency between reality and law. Some have pushed to completely legalize gambling across the island. Even so, some people, and groups, have objected to expanded gambling in Osaka. They have argued that crime and addiction (to gambling) will rise as a result. Those caught gambling illegally in Japan can face fines or jail time. This hasn't stopped gambling from becoming pervasive, nor the millions afflicted with gambling addiction. The series could have done a better job with this topic.
Despite the problematic approach to gambling, the series often highlights the importance of remembering the past and preserving it. In the ninth episode, Elda reads a manga that has been published for over 30 years. She reorganizes her room due to a ceiling leak (with the help of Koito) and finds an old videotape. Often series only focus on new technology. They act like anything deemed "analog" isn't worth bringing up. In some cases, there is a blend of the "old" and "new". In the case in Steven Universe, a videotape of the protagonist's mother (Rose Quartz) plays an important role in the series.
Similarly in Otaku Elf, Koito sees a videotape for the first time, and goes to her grandmother, who has an old Betamax player, excited to watch a tape of something recorded from before she was born. She learns that her mother, shown on the tape, was also a miko of Elda as well! In a typical scene, Elda embarrasses Koito. She thinks she will be picked up in a "bridal style" pose and runs away as a result. The latter is part of the ongoing yuri undertones of this series, even though Elda and Koito have more of a master-student relationship than anything that is romantic.
youtube
Otaku Elf is much more than a series with endearing character dynamics. It has a protagonist (Elda) who deeply cares about the town she lives in, a neighborhood of Tokyo, I believe. Unlike some other anime this season, such as Alice Gear Aegis Expansion, there's no fan service. Nor are there any characters which are "one-off jokes". In fact, the series, in some ways, counts as an isekai. It has a "genuineness and pleasantness" which evades many anime these days.
The show's animation studio is known for producing over 16 series, including two I'm familiar with: Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu (based on a manga by Katsuwo who also wrote Mitsubishi Colors) and Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina. None of the story elements in either of those series are present in this series.
The voice cast of Otaku Elf is just as strong as the show's opening song. Ami Koshimizu, who voices Elda, also voices the caddy of Aoi in Birdie Wing (Amane Shinjо̄), Mizuki Nakahara in Lycoris Recoil, Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter in Sailor Moon Crystal, Shiori in Princess Connect! Re:Dive, Yang Xiao Long in RWBY: Ice Queendom, and Konomi Yurikawa in Yurikuma Arashi. Yuka Ozaki, the voice of Koito, has lent her voice as Asuka Toyama in BanG Dream!, while Hitomi Sekine, voice of Koyuzu, voiced characters in Teasing Master Takagi-san, Konosuba, and Ms. vampire who lives in my neighborhood.
Haruka Aikawa, the voice of Koma, previously voiced a character in Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie. Mamiko Noto, voice of Haira, voiced a supporting character named Kazuki Kosuda in B Gata H Kei - Yamada’s First Time, Hakko in Canaan, Elsa in Gunslinger Girl, Kanon's mother in Love Live! Superstar!!, Shimako Toudou in Maria Watches Over Us, Gin Todo in A Place Further Than the Universe, and Saki Arima in Your Lie in April, and many other roles.
All in all, Otaku Elf is highly relatable to the hundreds of thousands of shut-ins in Japan, which the government believes is a "new social issue", and those elsewhere in the world. It might even draw in an audience from anyone who is living at "home" with their parents, or others living a "hermit-like" existence, being social recluses from society.
In any case, I recommend this series highly. I hope that it receives a second season, even though that is unlikely considering the last nine series by the same studio have not been renewed. Often, companies try and limit corporate risk by planning out each season for only 11-13 episodes. If the show is a success, "additional seasons can be ordered" as noted by Justin Sevakis.
Otaku Elf is currently streaming on HIDIVE.

location: moonlight casino
for: luis salgado @faiirytalcs
Now Rei Hino wasn’t the law, it wasn’t her place to make those judgments or calls. However working with her grandfather who was a priest to banish evil spirts, she could smell bad news from a mile away. And the moonlight casino seemed to be a hot spot for those kind of demons. One especially caught her eye, not knowing his name or little to anything about him she approached him. That was just who Rei was, confrontational and passionate in everything she did. While petty theft near the casino was reported, Rei couldn’t help but to feel that there was something more going on. “It’s funny how you’re always around wandering the crime scene.”

My favourite anime women- a miscellaneous list
Hey :) so, this is the first part of a small series I’m working on about anime women I personally really admire ! Each post will contain about 10 women as well as my reasons for loving them (I’ll still be posting reviews).
Spoilers for seven deadly sins, sailor moon, high school dxd, madoka magica, MHA, and Violet Evergarden and tw for murder, forced marriage, suicide, and severe injuries
Part 2
Ami Mizuno (Sailor moon)
Tumblr media
“The future is something that you build by yourself,” - Ami Mizuno
Out of the sailor guardians, I'd say Ami was without a doubt my favourite. Not only does she have water powers and plays a valuable support role in battle, but she's instrumental when it comes to the brains behind the team and their tactics. Logical, calculating, and intelligent, she always knows the right answer, and this is also because of all the intel she gathers to keep informed. As well as being a crucial part of the team, she studies really hard, and her diligence and intellect make her the top student at her school. With ambitions of becoming a doctor, Ami has a passion for problem solving and academics, so she can often be seen reading. I adored how knowledgeable and dedicated she is, and I respected her hard work, as well as her high position as a student. Both, as well as the fact that she's the brains behind the sailor guardians, made her really inspirational to me.
2. Rei Hino (Sailor moon)
Tumblr media
(Please bear in mind I am talking about the manga version of Rei, who is quite different from the anime Rei)
“I don’t care if it’s a ghost or not, if a guy falls for seduction it’s his own damned fault,”
Rei is powerful and strong, with her spiritual powers leading to a formidable intuition and almost being able to sense the future. As well as that, Rei is stubborn, hot-tempered and she has a bit of a sharp tongue. This means she doesn't take crap from anyone and will always point out issues with brutal honesty, as well as pursuing things in the way she deems correct. This can be seen in her refusal to marry due to lack of interest- Rei wants to become a high priestess for her grandfather's shrine, and is very dedicated to this. She later shows the same passion and dedication to protecting sailor moon. I loved her conviction, strength and independence, as well as her down to earth and blunt attitude.
3. Makoto Kino (Sailor moon)
Tumblr media
“It’s kind of sad that you think love is something you should take,”
As well as being incredibly physically strong and athletic, Makoto is a very protective friend who is always looking out for others and helping them. Despite not having had an easy life, with both her parents dying, she continues to persevere and face the challenges of being a sailor guardian. Makoto also combines all her protective strength, diligence and determination with a softer and more stereotypically feminine side- she loves gardening and baking, and is very proficient at both. This is also seen in her romantic and sentimental personality. However, in the case of Makoto, her femininity is presented as a strength, not something weak or inferior, especially when combined with all her other strengths.
4. Setsuna Meio (Sailor moon)
Tumblr media
“Watching over someone from afar is a kind of love, too,”
Setsuna is knowledgeable and logical- she studies from afar and tries to figure out the enemy and their intention. On earth, she had a career as a nurse and later as a researcher at a university, which both illustrate her academic and intellectual prowess. As well as that, despite appearing slightly aloof and cold, Setsuna cares a great deal for all her teammates and she helped raise Hotaru when she was reborn as a baby. As well as keeping watch over everyone, Setsuna was also one of the few friends Chibi Usa had growing up- she was often lonely, and, due to her kind, caring nature. Setsuna would comfort her.
5. Merlin (Seven deadly sins)
Tumblr media
“A human ceases to be once they stop thinking,”
Merlin is the most powerful mage in Britannia and one of the seven deadly sins- her magical strength is unrivalled, with the power of her treasure (which she can be seen using in spells) being versatile and almost infinite. Despite being playful, kind hearted and cheerful most of the time, Merlin is mysterious and serious, with a level headed and calm nature- she never loses her composure. Above all else, Merlin values knowledge- she is always running experiments or reading in an attempt to discover as much as she can about the world. Merlin is often depicted as confident and independent throughout the series, standing up for herself and being more than capable of fighting in battles. Her power and intellect, as well as her cool, confident, level headed, and yet kind personality make her an icon in my eyes.
6. Rias Gremory (high school dxd)
Tumblr media
“We haven’t lost yet ! You lose when you’ve given up,” - Rias Gremory
Those who have already read my post on Rias will be familiar with my take on her, but I think she was worth including here for quite a few, often forgotten, reasons. The show often oversexualises her and sometimes portrays her as being nothing but Issei’s love interest, but that is only one side of the coin. Obviously, her powers are strong and she’s phenomenal on the battlefield, which is how she’s earned the nickname “princess of ruin,”. Rias is also a calm, level headed and diligent leader who greatly cares for her servants, stopping at nothing to ensure their safety and getting revenge if they are insulted. She also helps them to grow and develop as fighters, with the training camp before her rating game against Phoenix being an example. As well as that, Rias is also logical, calculating and intelligent- from her victories in chess, to her skill in the classroom, to her strategizing before battle, it’s clear she has a good brain. On top of all that, Rias is independent, determined and hard-working- when she was offered the chance to participate in a rating game against Phoenix to win her right to not be forced to marry him, Rias accepted without hesitation, despite having no experience and her opponent being one of the best. She worked her team really hard and even stopped sleeping to prepare as much as she could, and fought with dignity and determination until the very end, all for her independence and the right to make her own decisions.
7. Kyoko Sakura (Madoka Magica)
Tumblr media
“You know what I think ? You take what you’ve got and figure out how to get something out of it,” - Kyoko Sakura
This is another one that might seems slightly unusual. Kyoko was introduced to the series as a greedy, selfish and unsympathetic girl, showing no remorse for the humans who got killed by witches and laughing at Sayaka for her “naïve,” belief in justice. However, when we later find out more about her, it becomes abundantly clearthat the true Kyoko is someone kind and selfless. She first became a magical girl to save her family from poverty and make her father happy, but, after her wish went horribly wrong, Kyoko’s father ended up spiralling into despair and killing himself as well as her whole family. This led Kyoko to believe that magic should only be used for one’s own gain, and using it for anything else only leads to pain. She explained all this to Sayaka after their fight, trying to save her from making the same mistakes she did so she wouldn’t have to suffer, which she wouldn’t have bothered with if she was truly selfish. In fact, Kyoko saw a mirror of her past self in Sayaka- someone selfless with a firm belief in justice. Sayaka dismissed Kyoko’s warning, which gradually led her down a path of despair, until she herself became a witch. Just before this happened, Kyoko sought her out to check up on her, trying to get her to listen one last time to protect her from the suffering. Even after Sayaka became a witch, Kyoko reached out to Madoka and told her about her plan to see if Sayaka could be converted to a human again. When this failed, Kyoko gave up on her own life so that Madoka and Homura can get away safely and so Sayaka’s witch form could be eliminated as a threat. The true Kyoko was someone strong and selfless, who in the end, sacrificed everything for the sake of trying to save someone else, and only acted based on good intentions.
8. Momo Yaoyorozu (MHA)
Tumblr media
“We should always start with the basics to develop the depth of learning. We must strive to devote ourselves wholeheartedly,”- Momo Yaoyorozu
Momo is easily the smartest, most knowledgeable person in class 1-A. Not only does she always have a strategy and an answer ready, she also scored the highest on the mid terms and was one of three students who got in based on recommendations. The nature of her quirk means she needs to study a lot and be a good tactician- she can make anything from the lipids in her body, as long as she understands that object’s chemical composition. This power is useful and versatile, and Momo uses it with increasing efficacy and confidence as the anime progresses. She was determined to improve after her confidence took a nosedive due to her loss at the sports festival, and this led to her making considerable progress and being instrumental in later victories for team exercises. Momo is also happy to help her classmates with their studies- she was thrilled to host a study session all together before the exams, which shows that, despite a cool exterior, she’s sweet and selfless.
9. Kyoka Jiro (MHA)
Tumblr media
“If you do this, we just might win. But there’s no time to hesitate,” - Kyoka Jiro
As well as wanting to become a hero, Jiro is passionate about music and can play many instruments. This is even reflected in the way she dresses and decorated her dorm- her style has a dark, punk vibe to it, which I very much respected. Because of this passion of hers, she was crucial to class 1-A’s concert for the school culture festival- she pretty much led and managed everything due to her vast knowledge of music. This also helped her realise that she didn’t really have to choose between being a hero and music, two things she’s very dedicated to and works hard at- she could, in some sense, have both.
10. Violet Evergarden (Violet Evergarden)
Tumblr media
“The worst battle is between what you know and what you feel,” - Violet Evergarden
Violet was an orphaned child taken in by an army Major. Because of her skill on the battlefield and the way she could take out several soldiers with very little problem, she quickly made a name for herself. In the last battle of the war, things got very sour for Violet and the Major, who was on the verge of dying, as the enemies kept firing. No matter what was happening, Violet always protected him courageously. Her determination to protect him and her selflessness didn’t save him, and Violet lost both arms in the battle, so she had to be hospitalised and provided with metal prosthetics. After her hospitalisation, Violet starts to work as an auto memory doll for the Major’s friend’s company. She is scarred from the war and doesn’t understand emotions due to that, so in an effort to figure out the meaning of “I love you,”, she begins writing letters for others to express their feelings in eloquent ways. At first, despite excelling at English, Violet is unable to transform the feelings she doesn’t understand into words. However, as the show goes on, she gets progressively better at it and is faced with many different emotions, many of which stem from difficult situations. Violet quickly adapts and deals with these, becoming one of the best auto memory dolls in the company, and gaining an understanding of the emotions she previously lacked. Violet’s talent, her intellect and her determination, as well as her loyalty to her love and her prowess on the battlefield, all made me admire her when I watched the anime, but on top of all that was her increased understanding of the world and her hard work. When the war was threatening to start up again, Violet nobly risked her life to fight for peace.

SAILOR MARS/REI HINO MASTERLIST
Rei Hino is well-known as Sailor Mars, the Senshi of Passion of the Solar System Sailor Senshi.  She works at the Hikawa Shrine that her grandfather has ownership of.  She hopes to become a priest like him, and works as a priestess.  In the past she made a vow of celibacy to Princess Serenity to prove her loyalty to the princess.  However, I would think Usagi wants her to find happiness too as she did.  Rei is not sure she will ever find love, and is determined to simply let things happen.  Like Mina, she is more focused on her duty of protecting Usagi as one of the Princess’ handmaidens, the Inner Planet Sailor Senshi.

Least favorite Sailor Moon character and why? Can be for any reason, just find one. You can even point at anybody and say they look like a fuck. For me it's Rei Hino's grandfather in the 90's anime. He's a complete pervert. I really hope he's way different in the manga...

I will be portraying Usa as a teenager, and my story will get dark with depictions of violence, so it's rated at least T. In my story, Usa has returned to Crystal Tokyo, leads the Amazon Quartet, and is training to become Sailor Moon. She's also trying to balance her duties as a Princess with her responsibilities as a hero and a student in high school, while living and studying to be a geisha as well. I have other characters that I will introduce in another post. If you'd like to rp with me feel free to message me to plot!

"They're all scary. That's the point of visions. If you are looking for something that isn't terrifying and a warning to your overall luck and health, I suggest using my grandfather's cheap way of entertaining guests by offering fortune cookies".
Of course there was some that were nothing out of the ordinary but mostly her gift in seeing the future come to pass felt like curse sometimes. And they were accurate to the point that some part of her wishes they weren't as spot on as they were. For everyone's sake.
Of course Rei sounded rude when explaining her thought process but this was the fifth time someone asked her this and her patience was running a bit thin. Her grandfather was more of a shrine show-person than she was by a mile.

Sailor Moon: Sailor Mars 17th birthday.
Sailor Mars 17th Birthday
This is based on the 90’s anime version of sailor moon
Today is April 17th and it is Rei Hino’s 17th birthday. Rei was sweeping up outside. Rei was getting ready to graduate high school next year and trying to get into college. Her best friends Mako, Minako, Ami and Usagi were getting ready to as well. She was wondering where everyone was. Rei had died just back in October and then the same woman Galaxia who killed her brought her and her other friends back to life a short time later. She forgave Galaxia and actually felt bad for her getting controlled by chaos. She was thankful to her and usagi for being alive again. However Mamarou did not forgive her fully as his life was all screwed up, learns he lost all of his scholarships. So she could understand his anger. Rei then saw Yuuichiro return home after running some aarons for her grandfather.
Yuuichiro: Hey there Rei happy birthday.
Rei: Thank you Yuuichrio. Pretty decent birthday so far. So you out running doing some stuff for Grandpa?
Yuuichiro: Oh yes. I needed to go some things for the master. I took them to the back.
Yuuichiro usually comes to the front when doing things for her grandfather.
Rei: Oh I see, well however grandpa wants it done.
Yuuichiro: For sure, he wanted something at the back. Anyways I have some cleaning to do. The day is almost done and you look almost done.
Rei: Yeah I am about done here. I will head in shortly.
Rei finished up her chores and headed in.
However then she got the biggest surprise as she saw Usagi, Mamarou, Mako, Minako, Ami, Michiru, Haruka, Setsuna, Houtaru, Chibiusa, her grandfather, and Yuuichrio.
Everyone at once: Happy birthday Rei!!!!
Rei: Thank you!!  Oh my gosh, this is great. I love this surprise party.
Setsuna: Yeah your grandfather came up with ideas.
Rei: Nice job and thank you grandpa.
Grandpa Hino: No problem , I thought you would love this.
Rei: I do all of my best friends are here. You did well all of you did.
Grandpa Hino: Thank you I did epically getting a good looking woman like Setsuna over here.
Everyone else feel over in disbelief and then put their heads in their hands.
Rei: Oh grandpa. Your still the same
man from when I can here
Grandpa: Haahahah!!
Rei: I would not have it any other way.   Thank you grandpa.
Everyone gave Rei their presents but one of Usagi’s was the most shocking. Rei opened up and it was picture of Mamarou in a sexy pose.
Rei: Usagi thank you but why did you give me a picture of Mamarou.
Usagi: It is because he is the sexiest man alive. What girl would not want a picture of him.
Everyone fell down and put their hands in their heads. Rei then got up.
Rei: Well thank you for that. Your right he is hot.
Mamarou blushed hard.
Rei: That is why I dated him. Thought are you not worried I might try and steal him back from you?
Usagi: Rei expect on your birthday, you cannot measure up to me, the sexist woman alive.
Rei: Oh yeah, well your wrong, I am the sexist woman alive!!
Usagi: No I am!!
Rei: No I am!!!!
Usagi: me!!!!
Rei: me!!
Then they both stuck at each other. Everyone falls on the ground expect Rei’s grandpa who laughs.
Usagi: Oh yeah, we can have a vote sometime.
Rei: Yeah let’s do that, at some point.
Everyone but Rei’s grandpa put’s their head in their hands who laughs his but off.
Usagi: Okay we are in agreement, we will see who the sexist woman alive is.
Rei: I agree and I will be will win. Anyways thank you for the picture Usagi.
Usagi: No problem Rei, I am glad you love it.
Mako: Okay now we got the gifts given argument done, we have dinner  , as I made some fugu and zazen.
Rei: Oh my god Mako thank you so much those are my favorites.
Mako: Minako and Usagi told me you loved them.
Usagi: Yeah I noticed you would cook some after our battle a lot.
Minako: You told me how much you loved all of it.
Mako: Also I made some cake.
Rei: Oh thank you so much Mako!!! I cannot wait to have it all. No offense Mamarou but I think the food Mako made is the sexiest thing her today.
Mamarou: Normally I would disagree but I don’t think I can stand up to food made by master chief Mako.
Mako: Thank you Mamarou, I appreciate it. I hope they can get up to even higher levels.
Minako: Well Rei after dinner you can hdd have your cake and cut it to.
Ami: Minako I  it is have your cake and eat it to.
Minako eyes dropped and everyone laughed.
Rei: Well I love the gifts. I guess it time for some of the best food ever.
Everyone ate the main course and dessert and everyone thought it was great. Everyone helped with the clean up. Then everybody talked for a while before it was time to head home. Rei say goodbye and hugged Usagi, Mako, Minako, Haruka, Michiru, Ami, Setsuna, Hotaru, Chibiusa and Mamarou. She thanked everyone as well, she also got some birthday calls, the specter sisters and from the starlights and Princess Kakyuu as well. Koan sent a necklace to her. Then she got knock at the front door and was Koan . Koan was out on a job for the business the specter sisters run.
Rei: Koan, I thought you guys were out of town.
Koan: We were but just got back. I wanted to come by since I saw you were still up and say happy birthday in person. So happy birthday!!!
Rei: Thank you so much and thank you for necklace.
Koan: Your welcome, I am glad to do it for a friend.  I think of you more as friend, you saved my life. You all did but you in particular for me and my sisters. I was going to well hurt myself and you saved me. I will never forget it’s
Rei: No problem, I am glad to save you and your sisters and you guys have become wonderful friends.
Koan: Thank you so much. I am glad you and your friends are our friends now.
Koan and Rei talked for a bit before Koan and Rei hugged. Then Koan headed home.
Rei then saw Yuuichrio and spoke to him.
Rei: Hey Yuuichrio thank you so much for the everything.
Yuuichrio: No problem Rei. I am glad I live her with you and your grandpa. Glad you enjoyed your birthday.
Rei: Are you heard up to bed.
Yuuichrio: Yeah I think so. Or to my room, I think you are headed there.
Rei: Yeah I am about to as well. You have a good night.
Yuuichrio: Thank you, you as well as
Yuuichrio headed to his room. He loved Rei so much and wanted to more than friends. However whether or not that happens is yet to be seen. Still Yuuichrio was happy Rei had a great birthday. He made it to his room and shut the door.
Rei then saw her grandpa and walked up to him.
Rei: Thank you for everything tonight grandpa.
Grandpa Hino: Your welcome Rei. Your the best granddaughter a old man can ask for.
Rei: Thank you grandpa. I appreciate that. However I cannot say your just  the best grandfather a girl can have. Your the best dad anyone can hav.
They both teared up and gave each other a big hug.
Grandpa Hino: Thank you so much it means so much to me. I consider you my daughter as much your mother was. This is the best I felt since she passed. I miss her so much.
Rei: Thank you grandpa. I miss her to, every day.
Her and grandpa hugged a little more, talked a bit and then both went to their rooms.
Rei had lost her mother at young age and unlike Rei twice before she was not coming back. However she will always remember her mother. She was also so grateful for her friends and family, life was perfect.
The end.

Jadeite and Rei's grandfather, a drawing or drabble please?
As soon as she entered her home, Rei heard their voices behind the kitchen's door: Junichi and her grandfather.
They sounded at ease with each other.
She smiled.
The day Junichi came at the Shrine for the first time, her grandfather was confused: he knew his granddaughter didn’t trust men and she wasn’t interested in having a boyfriend; Kaidou, the secretary of her father, had been her only crush, an unrequited love that had pushed even more (beside her father) Rei in her decision to refuse the idea of falling in love.
Rei remembered that day.
Rei’s grandfather looked at Junichi walking away, after a brief meeting, just a quick handshake.
“It’s the first time I see that guy,” the old man glanced at her granddaughter, “you look comfortable with him, as if you know him from a long time ago.”
Rei shivered. She perfectly knew her grandfather knew more than he said about her life as Senshi (maybe, he didn’t know she was one of the famous Sailor Senshi, but for sure he knew she was implied in something magical… and dangerous), and now he was pondering about Junichi’s involvement in her mysterious life.
“Junichi is a friend of Mamoru.”
She walked to the kitchen.
Her grandfather nodded, “Mamoru-san, Usagi’s boyfriend.”
“Yes. Junichi is a close friend of Mamoru. They were friends since always, and they met again after a long time. So, this is how I met Junichi.” She didn’t like to lie, but it wasn’t a lie, after all.
Entering the kitchen, her grandfather moved to the stove, “Some tea?”
Rei smiled and nodded, “Yes, thanks.”
“So, Junichi is a friend.”
She nodded.
The sound of boiling water.
“He looks a lot as Kaidou,” a worried glance, “I mean, his short and curly blond hair, his gray-blue eyes…”
Rei gulped, “What do you mean?”
Her grandfather placed two cups of steamy tea on the small table and knelt in front of her. His words were cautious, “Nothing. I was just realizing Junichi looks like Kaidou. That’s all.”
She sighed, “Physically, yes. But they are pretty different. Anyway,” she tossed her hair behind in her fierce and elegant way, “don’t worry. I am not going to fall in love with Junichi because of his look. I am not so stupid to fall for a guy because of his look or his resemblance to Kaidou. And I don’t want to talk about it, sorry.” She sipped her tea as her cheeks tinged gently red. She was lying to her grandfather: she was already in love with Junichi (formerly, Jadeite), but it was pretty difficult to explain to her grandfather that it wasn’t because he looked like Kaidou (on the contrary, he fell for Kaidou because Kaidou looked like Jadeite; now, she knew it); more difficult, explaining to him she was in love with Jadeite since her previous life, before her life as Rei Hino.
Her grandfather had a sweet smile and nodded. He avoided any further question about Junichi but, again, Rei reckoned her grandfather knew more than he said.
She opened the kitchen’s door, “I’m home”
Her grandfather had a wide smile, “I was having tea with Junichi-san. He helped me with the Shrine’s yard. There were so many leaves on the ground after the storm.” He stood up, “Sit down, there’s some tea for you.”
She knelt at the small table and glanced at Jun, smirking, “When did ojiisan hire you as his assistant?”
Junichi scratched his nape, “Today, it seems. I was waiting for you in front of the Shrine,” he grunted, “you’re late.” He sighed, “your grandfather gave me a broom and just told me to help him with the leaves until you were back home.”
Rei laughed at the thought of her grandfather giving Junichi a broom.
Her grandfather came back to the table with a cup of steamy tea.
As she sipped her tea, Rei enjoyed Junichi and her grandfather talking about the Shrine and about Junichi’s job as kindergarten’s teacher. Slowly, her grandfather was weighing Junichi, and Junichi wasn’t failing the exam. She smiled.

Rei likes to experiment in cooking, but if the dish doesn’t turn out right the first time she gets frustrated and will keep making it until it’s ‘perfect’. Thankfully Yuuichirou and her Grandpa don’t mind eating the same thing over and over.
