Remembering the unforgettable Rehman, on his 39th death anniversary (05/11/84). Rehman was a talented actor who played many roles but didn't get the recognition he deserved. Some people think it's because of fate or bad luck. He worked in the Hindi movie industry and was really good at acting in a way that felt natural and captured people's attention, but he still didn't get enough praise. Looking back at old Hindi movies, you'll see Rehman in many popular films. His acting made a big difference in movies like “Chaudhvin ka Chand”, “Pyaasa”, "Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam", “Dharmputra”, “Ghazal”, “Dil Diya Dard Liya”, “Ye Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke”, "Waqt”, and “Intaqaam”. These movies were loved by many people, and Rehman's varied roles made them even better. Rehman's acting is something we might not always think about, but it's so special that once we do remember it, we can't forget how good it was.

Ilaiyor Soodar
Youth won't adorn themselves with you,
Nor bangled lasses pluck and gather you,
The bard won't gently bend your stem
With the bow of his harp to pluck and wear you,
Nor will the songstress sport you in her hair,
Why do you still bloom in this Ollaiyur, O Jasmine?
- translation by Chenthil Nathan
