New Surroundings
Lilah’d been in McKinley Virginia for exactly two whole months and so far didn’t want to off herself. The weather wasn’t at all like LA, but she came to realize that she had actually missed having actual seasons.
There were a few things that were different from her life back in LA though, the biggest change being her job. Sadly the only job that Lilah had been able to get when she got to town from Los Angeles, was a teaching job. So after some negotiating with the dean, Lilah was all set up to start her new teaching job at Whitmore College. Lilah hated having to deal with what she referred to as ‘baby lawyers’, but a job was a job and the pay was close to what she was used to after she’d got the dean to see her side of things.
Once she had the job all set up, she set to work on trying to find a place to live. The realtor she’d hired had managed to find her a two-bedroom house in a quiet neighborhood. The woman was nice enough to point out that most of her neighbors were pretty quiet.
She’d been at Whitmore for about three days and she was still trying to adjust. So far she’d avoided actually talking to most of the other teachers and most of her students were already complaining that her class was too hard. The only thing that seemed the same as her old job, was that the rumor and gossip mill was alive and well and spread through the place like wildfire.
She had decided to take a break from reading her first round of student papers, and get some fresh air so she left her office and took a walk around the campus. She stopped at a coffee cart that was nearby and ordered her usual french vanilla latte. While she waited for it she took a good look around the campus quad. She took her coffee when it was handed to her and turned to head back for her office when she nearly bumped into someone. "I'm so sorry..." She said as she looked the very handsome stranger over.

Meda stared unseeing at the large tome in front of her before closing it with a satisfying smack. Rubbing her temples, she pushed the book away and rested her head on her arms. She’d never had a migraine before in her one hundred and forty-five years of being a vampire, but she was starting to believe that it was possible. She’d been reading for hours, most of the text in obscure languages that she’d either learned back when she was human or over the years as a vampire as she traveled. Reading had never been a chore for her before, but now she was unsure if she’d ever pick up a book voluntarily again.
At the sound of the front door opening, she perked up in her chair. A few moments later, her eldest brother walked into the library. “Hey,” she said, mustering up a weary smile for him and rubbing her eyes. “It’s late. Where have you been?” There wasn’t suspicion or censure in her tone, merely curiosity. “I’ve been going over these books for hours, trying to find something about how to remove the spell from the moonstone. So far, nada. On the bright side, I did get to dust off my Latin.” Sighing wearily, she complained, “This is impossible. Why did no one ever bother to come up with a supernatural Google?”

Puck chuckled before taking a sip of his drink. “Oh really? Wonder what else we’ve got in common.” He shrugged. “Eh, ya know. So-so. People either love or hate me. There’s no in-between.” Though he could be an asshole, deep down he was actually a pretty great guy who cared about his friends. He, like most people, was complicated.

reformed-serial-killer asked:
‘ I’ve been in love. It’s painful, pointless, and overrated. ‘ from Damon
“I have had front row tickets to the many times you have been in love Damon.” Katherine simply said, tilting her head slightly. “---I used to think it a cruel existence when you didn’t believe in love, but now... Now I say screw it, and pass the bourbon?”

It was fire call, normal for a firefighter but it never made any of this easy because each one was different and this was certainly the case. Once there he’d gotten out of the truck and put his gear on and he moved to head in, looking for anyone in the building and hoping that there wouldn’t be anyone there but that wasn’t a risk he was going to take. Moving quickly through the building he looked around, wanting to make sure he wasn’t missing anyone. “Is there anyone in the building?!”
