for my own reference and hopefully the benefit of everyone else,  I'm making a list of my characters and where I usually default to / prefer writing them in the timeline:

AKILAH:  generally open to writing at any point in the wilderness,  season 1-2.  I typically default anywhere post episode 1x08 because her stitching van is really crucial to her development,  but I'm still open to writing before then.  I do have some things figured out for her post-rescue verse but it will never be my default + will likely always require some plotting.

TRAVIS: season 2 by default.  I'm really not interested in writing him in season 1 — I've only made exceptions based on some starters that only make sense in season 1, but for the most part, I generally don't plan to write there.  I'm mostly interested in his development post-doomcoming, so I'll always default to season 2.  I'm very much interested in writing him post-rescue,  but it will require some plotting based on the fact that he's mostly kept to himself and there's still a lot to figure out about where he ends up (this goes for any time, directly after rescue through the adult timeline).  

MELISSA: open to any point in the wilderness,  season 1 or 2.  I don't currently have post-rescue verse details figured out (because, well...) but I'm open to plotting it out if some interaction calls for it.

ALLIE:  mostly interested in writing her while the plane is still missing when she's stuck back at school trying to continue on while being left behind  (so, mostly relevant to crossover characters + any other character who was left behind).   still open to writing her any time between then and as an adult,  but for the most part,  I default to her during that time. 

CALLIE:   season 2 preferred, or post season 2, but still open to writing season 1 + college verses when it makes more sense based on who she's interacting with.  

VAN: my van muse is so fragile right now that I'm not sure where I'm even most interested in but I do lean towards season 2 for both timelines. she's just kind of on the bench right now.

HAYDEN: anytime seasons 1-2 wilderness timeline + immediate post rescue preferred.  I still have a lot to figure out for her adult verse,  but I'm open to plotting it.

JESSICA:   obviously this is a yj blog so most of her interactions default to season 1 canon,  but I'm actually really interested in developing her beyond the yj canon because her job is interesting and leaves plenty of opportunity for her to be basically anywhere,  involved in anything.  I'm also open to plotting things in the yj timeline post season 1 if it makes sense, but I'm not sure it does...? she did deserve to survive the woman who kidnapped, drugged, and locked her in a basement but I digress. if you have characters that aren't related to yj but may make sense to interact with jessica.. hi

AURELIUS VANE-TEMPEST (Original Character)

STATUS QUO: Following departure from another world not his own, this iteration of Aurelius finds himself not home, but stranded on yet another island populated with strangers. Some faces feel more familiar, while others remain as only vague impressions in his memory.

Most importantly, he has a sense of forgetting someone he should know...but if he can't remember, maybe they weren't all that important anyways.

TL;DR: this version of aurelius has the option to know your muse from his previous group if you've ever met/brushed shoulders but otherwise we can default to first-time interactions in our threads! to cut down on angry angel hours i've also decided to blur and/or redact most of his previous group's memories of KLAUS (his most favoritest person in the universe ever) so he won't turn the place upside trying to find him (^: happy RPing and all that~

some dynamic possibilities for some of my muses i've been thinking about recently! this is a very rough/incomplete list but i thought i'd throw down some ideas while they're on my mind. if anyone is interested just lmk

jay

former teammates. this can be applicable to all verses, since i write them as a former footballer in pretty much every apocalypse verse/au, and it's a dynamic i'm very interested in exploring.

in a similar vein: rival players. especially interesting in apocalypse settings where they're now surviving together.

t/lou specific: fireflies! i have a verse where jay is rescued by fireflies & recruited that i need to explore/develop. maybe they're involved with the boston fireflies. maybe they're in salt lake city. maybe they're somewhere else just hanging out with some fireflies, fighting fedra. whatever fits jay and your muse best!

tl/ou au: fireflies! not to expose myself as being obsessed with them, but anyway. my idea for his tl/ou au is being a FEDRA merc hired to infiltrate the fireflies, then turning against FEDRA, so much like jay, i wanna put him anywhere they're involved. not as solid of an idea as others on this list, but i wanted to throw it out there regardless

bill (he's not as easy as other characters, but i have some concepts)

meeting on a scavenging run. bill and your muse encounter each other when he's on one of his outings. maybe some infected happen by and they gotta survive together, and we see where it goes from there.

on the road. something happens - infected or hunters - and bill loses lincoln and has to go out on the road and survive in the open.

smuggling contacts. whether on the inside of the zone or out; he's got a lot of friends on both sides. working relationships becoming genuine friendships &lt;3

tommy

on the road to jackson. it's not an easy journey and you're going to run into people, just like joel and ellie do. tommy meeting people along the way and either making genuine friendships or circumstantial alliances is something i'm very interested in.

also: maybe your muse leaves boston with tommy. maybe they were friends and he knew the journey would be rough, so he didn't go alone.

there's jackson, too, but i'm also wanting to wait until we get to see it in the show before i really start writing there.

again, the fireflies. since he's an informant for them and everything. developing the relationship between him and someone he reports to within the organization is a big thing for his character.

again, this is only for some characters, of course (the ones i'm kind of thinking about the most recently). i'm open for plotting with other muses, and outside of apocalypse verses (though i'm picky about that as always dkjnsfknj). just think throwing out some concepts is a good way to show what i'm really looking for with certain characters 💕

🦋 — #008™️ : VERSE LIST

* note : here you will find a summary of the main verses that i will use on this blog. be aware that i may expand upon these summaries, or add more verses to this list as i continue to develop kali & plot with others.

however, please also know that i am more than willing to create closed verses with individual partners. if you want to interact, but none of the verses below strike your fancy or feel applicable to your muse/s, please don't hesitate to reach out to plot ! i'm sure we can create an interaction that we both enjoy.

🦋 — MAIN VERSE / ST4 divergence —

unless otherwise requested ( or the timeline does not allow for any reason ), most interactions will likely be put in this verse. after jane leaves kali in chicago in 1984, kali decides to take her own advice, & makes finding brenner her only goal. this is easier said than done without jane's help, but she does know of at least one person who claimed to know where brenner is — the 'doctor' that she had almost murdered. but kali also knows that that she & her gang need to lie low for awhile after the shootout with the police, so they move to detroit for a few weeks to let the heat die down. in the meantime, kali focuses on assembling all the information she has about anyone else who might be close to brenner.

during the early months of 1985, kali returns to chicago & stakes out the man's apartment again. since their last encounter, he has greatly increased his home security, & it appears he intends to move. but by using her powers to hide herself, she is able to follow & observe him until she & her gang have a moment when he is in the new home alone before the security system is activated. they act quickly to intercept the man & interrogate him. before leaving, kali tells him that she is keeping him alive because if she follows his information only to discover that he is lying to her, she will certainly return for him again, no matter where he runs.

but the man's outdated information does not lead kali to brenner, but instead to dr. sam owens, who had taken over the energey department's experimental laboratories after brenner. even before meeting kali, owens had already been one of the few people who was still in contact with brenner, & had plans to leave the military to reconnect him with jane when the upside down inevitably returned. after speaking with owens at length & learning of the existence of the upside down as well as jane's loss of powers, kali agrees to remain in contact with owens & even helps him develop the program for jane to regain her powers. but while she is outwardly working with owens in exchange for his protection, her goal was always to use owens to find brenner & get her revenge. kali was not particularly good at waiting, but a year later, in march 1986, owens calls her & informs her that they have jane, & finally discloses the location of their new secret laboratory.

kali travels there with her gang immediately & ultimately arrives in time to help jane escape from their laboratory. in the end, it is kali that shoots & kills brenner in the desert. after jane destroys the army & the byers' arrive, she & her gang go directly back to hawkins & arrive in time for the final confrontation with vecna. jane still helps max via piggyback, while kali goes with eddie & dustin to cause distractions & pull the attention of vecna's hive mind scouts away from both jane & the fire-squad. kali discovers that her illusion powers work on upside down creatures, & use them to hide eddie & dustin from the bats, thereby saving them. vecna notices her presence & attempts to sway her to join him, but ultimately fails as he is attacked by steve, nancy, & robin. afterwards, she remains in hawkins, having become invested in protecting jane & her new friends.

🦋 — ALTERNATE UNIVERSE / ST2 divergence

this verse diverges from the canon at the end of kali's appearance in ST2. jane realizes that her friends are in danger & tells kali that it's due to what is happening at the lab, & kali decides to go with her back to hawkins — in part to protect jane, & in part to personally see the lab closed for good. kali & her gang drive jane to hawkins & arrive just in time for jane to use her powers to protect everyone from the demodogs in the byers house. at the end of ST2, kali demands to go to the lab & help everyone escape safely, using her powers to provide protection for jane & hopper.

after the hawkins lab is destroyed & closed down, kali remains in hawkins in an attempt to reconnect with jane, hoping that eventually she will be able to convince her to help kali find brenner. she & her gang move into the hawkins trailer park, & do their best to lie low for a time — quite a challenge given their strange appearance. but when the mindflayer returns to hawkins, kali is there to help. throughout the battle, she uses her powers to protect the party from the mindflayer's hosts, & ultimately blinds the mindflayer itself to buy more time for joyce & hopper to close the gate below.

following the defeat of the mindflayer, kali meets dr. sam owens, who gives her his contact information. while she again attempts to persuade jane to help her look for dr. brenner, jane refuses, deciding instead to move to california with the byers' to start a new life. but kali does not go with jane to california. instead, she remains in hawkins & stays in contact with dr. owens, hoping that he will one day lead her to brenner. she is in hawkins when vecna murders chrissy.

following her death, kali helps max & the gang to track down eddie, also believing in his innocence after having gotten to know him while living in the trailer park. unaware that vecna is also henry creel, kali only makes the connection to the lab when the revelation about victor creel is revealed. kali decides to stay back from the trip to the creel house so that vecna does not become aware that she is there in hawkins. when the teenagers go through the water gate, kali remains with the kids, using her abilities to help them escape from the wheeler's house. in the final battle, she attempts to protect eddie & dustin from the bats, but using her powers on creatures of the upside down alerts vecna to her presence. he targets kali, & she almost agrees to join with him — but the connections she has made with the people in hawkins over the past year convince her to break out of his trance & blind him so that steve, nancy, & robin can finish him off.

🦋 — ALTERNATE UNIVERSE / Canon Unaffiliated

- note : while not directly related to canon in any way, this verse is designed to be flexible enough to allow kali to easily adapt to fit other fandoms while still honoring her formative experiences. individual plotting herein is welcome & encouraged !

kali was born in london, & she was always a little different than most children. from the time she was a toddler, she had the strange & unique ability to make other people see what she wanted them to, & even preferred this method of communication to speaking. at first, her mother thought that she herself was simply losing her sense of reality, but when kali began to use her abilities against other people — most notably, another girl in her kindergarten class who was bullying her — her mother took her to a doctor with questions.

the doctor asked kali to demonstrate her abilities on him, & she showed him what she could do. immediately, the doctor contacted one of the most respected neuroscientists in the world, who immediately recommended that kali be committed to a special long-term care facility in the united states so that they might discover why her brain worked the way that it did. her mother agreed, thinking that to send her to be with the experts would be the best thing for her daughter. & so at five years old, kali was flown to america & imprisoned in a government research facility. kali never saw her mother again.

for years kali was experimented on, forced to use her powers at the directions of doctors who would hurt her if she did not comply. kali was not the only child there — in fact, she was the eighth, as the tattoo they put on the inside of her wrist showed. but as the doctors taught her how to control & expand her powers of casting illusions, kali becan considering how she could use them to escape. & one day, at the age of thirteen, kali used her abilities to blind her guards & walk out of the lab unseen.

free at last but with nowhere to go & no one to help her, kali hitchhiked to put as much distance between herself & the doctors as possible. eventually, she reached an unfamiliar city, where she used her powers to hide from almost everyone, living on the streets & stealing food to survive. one evening, while sleeping in an alleyway, a woman awoke her & asked if she would like a bed to sleep in for the night. something in the woman's kind eyes reminded kali of her mother, & she was exhausted, alone, & hungry — so kali agreed.

but the woman & her husband never asked kali to leave, & over the years, the three became something resembling a family. kali learned that the woman had a daughter who had gone missing years prior, & so she had not been able to leave a young girl there alone on the street. she even hired a private tutor for kali to help her catch up to her peers in education, eventually qualifying her to enroll in school once again. kali her never told anyone in her new life about her abilities, but she required a physical examination in order to attend public school. with no previous medical history to tell them what vaccines she would need, the doctor took a blood sample at her appointment & sent it to the national laboratory to be tested. less than three days later, government agents in black suits burst into kali's new house. kali hid in her closet, casting an illusion to prevent them from seeing her, but she could not save her adoptive parents.

with her new family dead & kali certain that she would never be able to lead a "normal" life without being targeted again, she resigned herself to living on the streets. over the years, she ran into other outcasts like her — people who would never be allowed to be who they were — & together they inhabited an abandoned warehouse in the slums of the city. but kali could not forget the doctors that had tormented her as a child, & eventually she began to search for the information about who they were & where she might be able to find them. kali called it healing, but in truth, her only goal had become vengeance.

🦋 — ALTERNATE UNIVERSE / Vampire Multiverse

- note :  developed with @shadowcovcn & @immobiliter , this verse is a mashup of a myriad of different vampire media, featuring characters & canons from ww/dits, tw/ilight, fir/st kill, the vampire ch/ronicles, & more. no canons, no rules, we die like men.

even as a human child, kali had an extraordinary power — she had the ability to cast illusions & trick the mind's sense of sight, able to make other people see what she exactly what she wanted them to. these abilities caused her human parents to abandon her at the age of five, believing her to be possessed. kali was found in the woods by a vampire — who happened to be caius, of the volturi. caius first intended to eat the lost child, but she stopped him by casting an illusion to hide herself. but caius could still smell her, & caught her anyway. yet he was curious about her abilities, so the vampire instead brought her back to aro to see what he made of her. aro was intrigued, & naturally wanted to make her into a vampire so that she could be a part of the volturi guard. but he knew that he would need to wait until she was old enough to keep their secret. & so kali was brought up surrounded by vampires. they hired a live-in human nanny to look after her physical needs, while members of the volturi guard tutored her throughout her youth. chelsea in particular took an interest in the young girl's education, & the two bonded closely. in the meantime, aro worked with her to develop & strengthen her gift, giving her more control over her powers. the day that kali turned eighteen, aro turned her. the pain was excruciating, but when it was over, her powers were stronger than ever before. she was now able to cast detailed illusions upon multiple people at one time, & even entirely blind their senses. kali immediately became one of aro's favorites, & he used her to threaten & punish enemies of the volturi frequently. it was chelsea's job to keep kali devoted to him, but chelsea's own connection with kali meant that she had trouble enforcing aro's required loyalty on the young newborn. the arrival of carlisle soon after did little to help ease the tension bubbling beneatht he surface, as he exposed her to his ideas about philosophy & morality. & shortly after carlisle was permitted to leave the volturi, kali was inspired to use her powers to escape voltera.

kali lived as a nomadic vampire for many years, travelling throughout europe & eventually to america. time ceased to matter to her. in her travels, she met many more vampires, including the baron afanas, nadja, & laszlo cravensworth. while passing through the pacific northwest, she met carlisle who offered kali to join his coven with his newborn wife, but kali refused. what she truly wanted was her revenge upon aro for grooming her to be a weapon — but she also knew that she would never be strong enough to challenge the volturi on her own. so she resigned

so when kali heard from another passing nomad that the baron afanas was declaring war on the volturi, it was the natural choice for kali to join him. after all, this was her only chance for revenge, & she would take it, win or lose.

hmmn... saw someone brought up a very interesting detail that volo's expression changes in-between the lake visits when he's just idling about... if i had to take a random stab in the dark as to why, i'd guess it has something to do with his whole ramble about the red chain. i'll probably restart my file just to see the fine details before making any sound calls though so i can be sure the expression happens after the trial and not before, because that could change things
