Oh! Oh! 💥 & 💫?
Ohhh hello hello, thanks friend!!!
💥find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it.
Okay, this was actually really neat because it wasn't the fic I was expecting it to be - I haven't really checked that aspect of my Ao3 stats in a while!
My least kudos'd fic is i've got sunshine on a cloudy day - it's an Ed-centric OFMD fic that's set in the poly au 'verse. It's a fic where Ed finds a kitten, and eventually gets to keep it. I wrote it for the tiniest holiday fic exchange between me and two of my best buds, and ahhh I really love it still. It's just a really soft fic!! And has a lot of soft domestic polyamory vibes, in a way that was just so fun to write. And as someone who is super duper allergic to cats, writing a story where someone finds a kitten is fun in a good wish fulfillment type of way XD
It didn't get a lot of attention because it's got a strong Ed/Jim focus (along with Ed/Stede and Jim/Olu) but I adore it. It's a poly ship I really love, and I think it has a nice vibe to it.
💫what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?
Ohhh boy!!! I have so many!!! Some of my faves are:
quoting lines from the story - hello you found lines you loved so much, and sometimes they are my own favourite lines, what an amazing experience
keyboard smash or emoji dump - i love it, no words only feelings
single emoji or single line comments - i especially love this because it's what i do when i really enjoyed a fic but am struggling with spoons to write something - so it feels like someone took the time to leave a comment even if it was tough in the moment
paragraphs - y'all there is no greater gift as a fic writer than feeling like someone wants to write an essay about your fic
comments telling me that i've inspired their own writing is also just. delightful
anything telling me that i've done my research or put a lot of work in and it shows is the MOST validating thing!!
anytime anyone comes to tumblr to find me and tell me they like my work is the best too, i love u with my whole heart
Anyway I am literally in love with everyone who ever comments on my stuff I am giving u all a kiss on the forehead
Thanks so much for the asks friend!!! I hope you are having a good day :)

That was the vibe I got too—either trying not to summon the "stans" and or trying to keep negativity out of the tags. But, having just come off of seeing other censored tags being things like murder or other heavy topics, I had a moment of feeling online old, I think haha.
i used to expend the effort, * and . and () and whatever else, but they always find it anyways. it does not matter, lol .

Rüstem receives such poor writing within the show as a direct result of how the popular narrative paints him as in "cahoots" with Hürrem to destroy Mustafa. So he has to the cartoon villain to Mustafa's sanctified image within the show.
I completely agree. Rüstem's entire character can just be boiled down to 'Hürrem's creepy evil henchman'. Not to mention how his relationship with Mihrimah is written in order to make him and Hürrem look as bad as possible. The show just wanted to be a Saturday morning kids' cartoon show in the last 2 seasons. And the portrayal of Rüstem is Exhibit A.

I have to wonder...what would have happened if Hurrem had refused Ibrahim's terms in episode 15? Would his loyalty to Suleiman and his desire for him to be happy eventually win out over his own pride and promise to Mahidevran?

This post by @redxluna actually reminded me of why I always side-eyed Mustafa or more his characterization as a smart person.
He is just as arrogant and proud as Bayezid and he doesn't realize that positions in this absolutist empire are never stable. Your position is only secure as long as you have the ear and trust of the current Sultan. But Mustafa never even seems to consider the possibility of not being the next Sultan despite being outnumbered 1:4 and not having sisters to marry of to gain alliances. So insulting and threatening Hürrem, the mother of four Sehzades, is outright stupid. Mustafa in my opinion never learned the easiest lesson of keep your friends close but your enemies closer. He could have easily exploited Hürrem's little fondness of him to win at least a little of her trust. Pretend the apple fell far from the tree. He can still antagonize her once Süleyman is dead. In the meantime, he should have strategically played nice. This way he just gave Hürrem a headstart of 100% knowing that her sons aren't safe and she has to get rid of Mustafa, no matter what. He snuffed out all the good-will of Hürrem and doubt of him being like everyone else around her.

#37 for the fic writer questionnaire?
oooh thanks friend!!
37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?
Ohhh this question is so interesting. I think the one that I'm going to pick is i will stay, if you dare - it's an UnDeadwood fic in which Matthew leaves after romancing Clayton and promising he'll stay, and in his absence Clayton and Aly get together. It's sad, deals a lot with grief and rebuilding, and ends with Matthew/Clayton/Aly.
Honestly I think it's one of my favourite fics I've ever written. I'm still really pleased with how the story beats came out, and imo it has some of the best romantic lines I've written. Also I'm just eternally in love with Aly/Clayton/Matthew, they're my favourite UnDeadwood ship!
Thanks so much for the ask friend!!

Oh! 🌈 and 🪄
🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?
Of course. Writing doesn't always come easy, especially when it's about dealing with emotions. Geraskier is so challenging in the sense that I'm very much a Geralt IRL, but I have to write Jaskier who's too self-aware for his own good and who doesn't mind telling people how he feels. So yeah, that's a struggle, but with each of those written conversation comes some well-deserved self-reflection as well, so it's worth it.
🪄 what is your post-writing/sharing aftercare? How do you take care of yourself or celebrate yourself when you've finished a fic?
I have this thing called performance anxiety, so it's really hard for me to congratulate and reward myself things. It's something I'll always be working on, but most of the time, I'll allow myself a break, play video games and do things I put aside while I was writing.
Thanks for asking! 💜

It's difficult to take seriously anyone who feels the need to censor Anne's name when discussing her
tbh, i just assumed they were being considerate/chickenshit by not wanting it to come up under search/the tag....?

I've read the introduction to The Imperial Harem by Leslie Peirce today and my main takeaways so far are how the portrayal of the harem and the political structures in MC follow a Western idea far more than they follow the realities of how it actually worked and the way in which she acknowledges that a specific biased narrative was created around the influential women of the harem. Also, what she says about the way space was seen and the 'inner' vs the 'outer' are very interesting.

I need someone to make a show that's a combination of Marvel's What If and Rise of Impers, basically every season is a different what if scenario in history shown and talked about as if it actually happened. There would of course be disclaimers and what not. The first season would be what if 'Henry VIII died in a hunting accident before the investigation in to Anna Boleyn started?' Basically the same plot as That Subtle Wreath by EvilFluffyBiteyThing
https://m.fanfiction.net/s/12631705/1/. Bonus points if they can get the cast of The Tudors for it.
For future seasons they could do
'What if Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI had been better prepared for ruling France and there was no French Revolution?'
'What if Mehmed had lived to succeed Suleyman, would his brother's survive. How would that change the Ottoman Empire?'
'What if Turhan had failed in her attempt to assassinate Kosem?'
'What if Franz Ferdinand Wasn't Assassinated or he survived?'
'What if Joanna of Castile had been able to rule without interference from her father, husband and son?'
Thoughts ideas for other What If's?

The Greatest Scene in Magnificent Century (Part 1)
(Part 2)
The Turkish channel got English subtitles so I decided to take my cue from @redxluna and screenshot the best scene ever.

I love this scene so so much. I can almost forgive the Isabella subplot because of it like @hurremshiv forgives the Firuze subplot for Episode 72.
It is such a pity that the show completely lost this energy in Seasons 3 and 4 and became completely dynasty-brained.

Are mc Hürrem and show Anna Boleyn similar in any way? This is probably a question for @redxluna don't know if anyone else here watched The Tudors

So I've been curious, but wholly ignorant of costumes in the Empire during this time. How accurate is Magnificent Century in terms of costuming?
Is it a level of Anne of the Thousand Days not quite 100% but in the general ballpark?
Or is it a level of The Tudors being mainly "it's hysterical you think that's accurate"?
