Seeing your asks about Redouane I’m also like… thus far the only MoC who’s not been dragged into a physical fight over some white girl was Sekou so I also would bet good money that like. Redou is gonna fight Anais’s BF and then get a speech about toxic masculinity from Tiff and then get thrown out of his gym 😫

oh absolutely. tiff talking about how if you enact violence against abusers you’re just! as! bad! as the abuser :) idk if it’d be better or worse but i can also see bilal giving a speech talking about all he learned from fighting matheo and being positioned as thee authority on Good Healthy Soft Masculinity or smth?? actually now that i’m thinking about it, they could literally have everyone in la mif give some sort of god awful anti violence / anti direct action speech. max talking about how almost fighting aurélien made him realize the type of man he wants to be, lola saying slapping tiff just made the situation worse, maya talking about the night she smashed the truck and tying that into the feminism/activism plot. i still don’t understand what s9 was trying to say about activism, like there was def a strong anti-radical action message, but the performative stuff they propped up didn’t work either?? the conclusion of that plot is just. nothing works, the group fails to stop the mall, maya feels like all activism is useless, the only thing that excites her is a free trip to ireland which she doesn’t even go on, bc she needs to stay in paris to support anais in s10. and considering the same 5 people who did s7 are doing s10 and deborah’s still head writer, i’m expecting s10′s feminist themes to be on the same level as tiff’s pink hat lecture. frida specifically calling herself a proud afro feminist (when they could’ve like. cast anyone. but they specifically wrote a black feminist character) makes me feel like they’ll either do a complete racist misogynistic butchering of politics and feminism this season with frida/redouane’s tactics portrayed as going too far (contrasted with tiff & maya’s non-violence) orrr she and her group will be supportive and successful (for lack of better words) in which case. what the hell was s7-9.

also just remembered that redouane’s mom is a lawyer & he mentioned a brother in s9. the whole bedia family are going to be dragged into this and their entire plot revolving around anais. which is par for the course re: characters of color and their white LIs.

and sekou...i’ve been thinking about him lately and what the original plan for his character might’ve been pre-covid. like would bilal & redouane exist? or were they written to fill up la mif’s numbers in his abscence? i can see them pairing up sekou/anais or, more likely imo, sekou/louise, and the writers thinking the latter was funny or smth (inexperienced ditzy girl x inexperienced autistic-coded guy). i miss him every day and every day i am grateful he escaped.

#i'm so so so nervous about the ~resolution for this plot and what action they'll have anais take if any #there's a cop credited in ep6 so. i'm guessing she either reports it then. or it's smth like what you describe #bc ep6 does seem a little early to wrap things up with her bf #not that reporting is the end of the story either irl or in fiction but. they love dragging stuff out to ep9 #and reporting it feels like a climax type plot point. #if that makes sense #something they'd consider the finish line #ask #norwaydumpsterfireremakes #french posting #long post
