If my parents wanted me not to question my gender identity they should not have given me old timey classics to read at the ripe age of 7 and ever since, where the main characters are always boys, the only interesting characters with depth and personality are always boys and the only interesting storylines happened to only boys. I have literally zero connection to any gender right now, just gimme a good story and an "author" who speaks in first person and I'm there living that life.

#also there has to be something said about the fact that being a reader of such huge stories from such an early age kinda rewrites your #whole identitycuz like borges said you really become all the books you read and all the stories you experience especially as an autistic kid #i dont need to experience things i just need someone to talk me through it and I'll get all the same things out of it as the people who #experienced it #you sorta say goodbye to your own identity when you experience that cuz you literally become a russian doll of stories/identities/life paths #im no longer just me im everyone and everything #gender becomes an outfit and in a way thats what it really is #gender identity #genderfluid #gender ideology #genderqueer #gender #reader community #bookblr #book lovers #books #child reader #storytelling #classic literature #classics #belphegor luna

Book Lovers Consider This:

Why do main characters always end up strong “because” they were abused (most often by parents)? I have never read a book where the main character ended up strong because they themselves worked hard for themselves. It’s always depicted as the characters are only powerful because they survived something horrific? I have been hurt before by ppl close to me but I would never consider myself to be strong because of them. I would consider myself strong because I reflected on myself and actively worked to become a better and stronger person.

I don’t know if this makes sense and I’m aware that the parental abuse and such is a good plot point for a character but I think I could love a character just as much who has become strong for themselves by themselves because no one else makes you strong.
