“You got me a stocking?” - “Of course, you’re family.” For either Reggie & Ray or an AU where the Molina family adopts Reggie, please!
For my fourth and final version of this prompt, I decided to go full sci-fi dystopian AU because of course I did.
"Reassignment assessment, Reginald Peters, written portion." The computer said as he sat down at the terminal. He'd just finished the physical scan, and from the way some of the squares had coloured orange, it wasn't going great. Probably his weight and blood work, if he had to guess.
"Um, I can't... I can't write," he told the terminal. "Or read." Immediately, the keyboard disappeared, and a little speaker appeared next to the questions, with a microphone icon replacing the keyboard. He took a deep breath, and started the questionnaire.
After his dad had been caught stealing, he'd pretty much flushed away any credits their family unit had down the drain. Mom had managed to save herself by taking a blood alcohol test, proving she hadn't partaken in any of the stolen goods (though Reggie was pretty sure that was just dumb luck). She had managed to stay in her job in the kitchens, reassigned to the bunks there, instead of being sent to the jail like Dad.
But the lack of credits did mean there was no way she could keep Reggie on. And Reggie had been going to work with Dad, cleaning, since he was seven, so he couldn't be reassigned to the Kitchen bunks.
But all the credits he earned were transferred straight into the family account to pay for food and rent, so it wasn't like he had any credits of his own to rent out a room somewhere. Carl had kept him on until he was transferred to Reassessment, let him take over Dad's route as well as his own, so he'd managed to earn enough to keep himself fed while he stayed in the Cleaning bunks.
But now he had to prove he was worth keeping on permanently. Or get lucky enough that one of the better paying departments would take on a scrawny thirteen year old who couldn't read or write and wasn't deemed bright enough to get a scholarship for school when he was little.
He spoke as clearly as he could, knowing the voice-to-text AI wasn't perfect. He laid out his work history, his references (which was really only Carl). There were some weird questions at the end as well. Like his favourite colour, and his favourite class. Probably because he was a minor. He tried to keep the bitter upset tone out of his voice in case it messed with the AI when he answered. "I don't know." And: "I don't go to school."
The last question, the one about what he wanted for his future, he wasn't exactly sure how to answer. "I hope to stay on and work my way up at the Cleaning Department, or perhaps get transferred to the Kitchens," he said.
Except when he let go of the mic button to submit his answer, a flashing yellow warning came on the screen. Apparently the facial recognition had flagged the answer as dishonest, would he like to try again?
He tried again. And again. Finally, frustrated, he said: "I want to earn enough credits to be able to afford my own rooms, in whatever Department that will take me, and maybe even get enough to be able to afford a dog, or a hamster." He'd never told anyone about that dream, but it was at least flagged as truthful, and before he could edit or resubmit his answer, the test declared he was finished, and to please move on to the next room to wait for reassignment.
It was the first time he'd been alone, had his own rooms, since his dad was caught. Reggie reveled in the quiet, taking the standard issue meal from the Fabricator at set times, and catching up on some much needed sleep. After a few days, though, he got a little antsy, so when he computer terminal finally beeped that he'd been reassigned, he was thrilled. He quickly washed his face, tidying the bed and getting dressed, stepping out ready to meet Carl, or maybe even the head of the Kitchens.
Except it wasn't Carl. It was a family. A mom, a dad, a girl about his age, and a little boy. They looked like the kind of family that had enough credits to send their kids to school without scholarship credits, wearing non-standard-issue clothes and cool shoes and even jewelry.
Before he could tell them they probably had the wrong room, and that the orphanage was down the hall, the woman said: "Reginald? It's so nice to meet you!"
So it wasn't a mistake. Reggie stayed quiet as they lead him away from the Reassignment wing, up to levels and past parks where he'd only dreamed of being promoted to clean, until they arrived at their unit. Inside was big, but it still looked cozy, like a real home. The walls all had non-standard colours, there was art displayed, the furniture was non-standard issue.
"Come on, let me show you your room," the little boy, Carlos said, dragging him along. "You still have to pick your own colours and stuff, it'll be fun!"
So he got his own room. That he got to decorate. And he got to pick out non-standard-issue clothes, and they enrolled him in school, and every day Reggie was waiting for the Molinas to realise they'd made a mistake, to send him back to Reassignment, but it never came. Not even when he bombed his first pop quiz for his Writing class (the p and q were hard, okay?), or when he accidentally burned dinner helping Rose cook.
Three weeks in and they still hadn't sent him back. When he came home from school, thrilled to report that he'd actually passed a test for once (math was way easier than letters), the apartment looked... different. There were twinkly lights all around, and the furniture had been rearranged to make room for a tree, and oh. Christmas.
"Hey, mijo," Rose said, smiling from where she was hanging a garland up below the screen of the TV. It was playing a video of a fireplace, which just made the whole room feel even cozier. "How was school?"
He shyly showed her his Pad, with the bright red 100% at the top of the page on his math test. "I got my math test back," he said. He glowed with pride and maybe something else when she caught him in a hug, telling him how proud she was. She even insisted on wasting using credits to print out a copy to hang on the fridge.
"Do you want to help me decorate a little before you start your homework?" she asked. He usually waited until Ray was home, because Ray always looked over his letters and helped him sound out the really long words for his reading. He was really nice about it, too, and never got frustrated when Reggie made a mistake.
"Okay," he agreed happily, helping de-tangle even more lights, and hang pretty baubles in the tree. Ray came home from his shift, smiling and jumping right into helping decorate.
Together, they finished up the tree, except for the star. That would be put on when Julie and Carlos got home. They were in school longer than Reggie, because Rose and Ray hadn't wanted to overwhelm him. He had Writing and Reading and Math, and because Rose insisted school should be fun as well, once a week he also got to go to Music. They’d let him pick whatever he wanted, from art to sports to flight school.
Finally, Ray made him stand back and decide how high the stockings would go. He could read the names on them now. Rose and Ray both had fuzzy-looking stockings with a faux fur trim on it. Julie's was purple, of course, and shimmered in the light. Carlos' had a fabric that changed colours when you ran your finger over it, so you could draw little doodles on it.
And then Rose handed Ray the last one. It was red (he had a favourite colour now), and it looked very soft. And on it, in shimmering letters, it read Reggie.
"You got me a stocking?" he asked, startled, eyes flitting over the name again and again, just in case he misread. R-E-G-G-I-E. Reggie.
"Of course," Ray said. "You're family."
Maybe it was time to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop, Reggie thought, even as his face crumbled. Rose pulled him into a hug, Ray wrapping both his arms around him. Maybe this could be home.

so you know how throughout the show reggie is perfectly content with hanging out with ray even though he can’t see or hear anything the ghost does right? imagine that’s because that’s just how it’s always been for reggie back when he was alive. his relationship with his parents wasn’t the best (as so eloquently stated by luke in a singular line) but I assume he kind of,,,created this illusion? that he was happy, that they loved him and each other. but his efforts always end up being one sided, and I can see him actively denying to the band that anything was wrong bc hey it’s fine we hang out and have fun, but it’s just him having conversations with himself and his parents not really acknowledging him. and so he spends time with ray the same way he spends time with his parents, and thinks hey, this is pretty nice.
and now think about reggie post-caleb, visible and audible and human, coming back to hang out with ray as he usually does, except this time ray looks up and him and smiles. asks him how he’s doing, about their band practice and whether he’s had any issues with being able to eat again. and reggie just. breaks. because this is everything he’s ever wanted and more.

Julie and The Phantoms Headcannon
After the boys died Bobby became friends with Rose. I'm going of the wide thing of Rose is most definitely Julie's mom for this. Rose was already dating Ray so Bobby also became friends with him. I'm also doing the assumption that the Molina's house was Bobby's old house and that's why all the boys stuff was still in the Garage. I wanna say that they became friends and after a while Bobby could no longer stand to stay in the house with the reminder of the guys in the Garage and so he moved out. Ray and Rose moved in and could never get themselves to throw out the boys old stuff.

Willex Red White & Royal Blue AU
So me being me, of course my brain has been toying with a Willex Red White & Royal Blue AU since becoming obsessed with the movie and the book but I don’t think I will actually write it because, though having some changes, it’d still be so close to rwarb that it wouldn’t be that exciting but I thought I’d share my ideas for it for Willex Wednesday this week and you guys can imagine the scenes for yourself without me having to write a whole long fic about it.
So. Long musings to follow (it helps if you know the book/movie but you don’t really need to if you’re just here for some fun willex au though there will be tons of spoilers of course). Also there be some smut here because these are two horny idiots for sure!
Also thanks to @merihn for looking it over and making sure that the changes I've introduced to the rwarb plot fit the new characters.
Okay, here we go.
On the American side we have Caleb as the president (yes, I know, it’s a man now but he would have so much fun being a politician and making everyone his bitch).
Willie is his nephew who has been living with him since his own parents died in a car crash when he was like five. He’s not really that interested in politics per se though he supports the more liberal side of his uncle’s program. Generally though, he dislikes the whole publicity stuff and would be much happier just being an obscure kid skating around. He is, however, out as bisexual. I know that an important part of rwarb-book!Alex’s journey as a character is his discovery of being bisexual but I just cannot picture Willie not knowing he’s attracted to guys. Or being able to hide that. So he knows and the country knows. He mostly tries to stay out of trouble but he doesn’t always quite manage.
Rose Molina is Caleb’s Vice President (with Ray as her puppy husband who’s too nice for politics, really) and so Willie and Julie live together in the White House and are best friends. Julie’s other best friend is Flynn (they go to the same college?) so they mostly hang out as a trio.
Willie has been slightly into Prince Alexander from the British Royals since he was a teen, ever since seeing a poster of him in some teen magazine (because I love that bit from the book!!). Although I’ve also been toying with the idea of him discovering him much earlier and including him in his childhood games, ie. saving or being saved by Prince Alexander and stuff like that. Very innocent of course but I think it’d be cute.
But the first time he actually meets him at some official thing (Melbourne Climate Conference ;D) goes really poorly.
Switching over to the British side: Alex is of course our repressed English prince. If I actually wrote the thing it’d mean finding a bit of a new voice for him that’s a blend of jatp!Alex and rwarb!Henry but for this little headcanon thing, it doesn’t really matter all that much.
Alex’s grandfather is the king, his parents are both still alive and massive assholes and very overbearing. He has an older brother (let’s keep Philip) who is also an ass. And he used to have a sister but she died (switching up the rwarb trauma backstory wound but it makes more sense for me with canon jatp stating his parents were ‘not really cool’). His sister was the only one in the family he really got along with and trusted so now she’s dead he’s even more isolated. He is, naturally, gay as a maypole but of course he hides that because he has to maintain the traditional royal image and also because of anxiety.
Getting back to that first meeting of Alex and Willie: Alex basically falls in love/into attraction with Willie at first sight but also knows it is a VERY bad idea so he tries to keep as far away from him as possible. Also it’s shortly after his sister died and the Palace insists on parading him around so he’s just generally not in a good state and being a panicky prick, basically.
For Willie though, it reads as ‘of course the pretty prince is really just a stuck up elite and entitled white boy who’s a massive homophobe (and also maybe a racist).” An impression that is cemented afterwards because Alex keeps on avoiding him.
Since Willie isn’t that confrontational, I think he’d go about his rivalry a little differently than rwarb!Alex, so I just picture him and Julie, with Flynn’s invaluable help, starting to prank Alex whenever possible. Nothing too serious because he’s still a British prince and they can’t afford an international incident (hah!) but just in a subtle way that could almost be accidental.
Alex does realise what’s going on but he’s almost relieved because if Willie dislikes him there’s less chance of bad things happening between them (ie kissing). So he plays along with the animosity and acts the petty prick around Willie so Willie will never ever become a danger to him and his hidden homosexuality.
And then, of course, they topple into a cake at a Royal wedding (Phillip’s) and suddenly have to play nice with each other. Maybe the whole cakecate is less Willie being confrontational and more they crash into the cake because maybe Willie wasn’t looking where he was going and stumbled and grabbed the nearest thing to stabilise himself (Alex) but they just both topple the cake in the progress. The end result, however, is the same: they’re on the floor, covered in cake, and the whole world gets to see and laugh and there is an international incident after all.
I’ve cast Aunt Victoria in Zahra’s role as campaign manager. Different vibe than in rwarb but I think her mixture of affection for the children and strictness could work really well here. I’m not sure if she’s actually Rose’s sister but she does have all the children call her Tia anyway. Couldn’t really find a match for Shaan in jatp canon so he stays as Alex’s equerry (aka personal assistant). They can totally have a love affair on the side as well. Good for you, Victoria!
Anyway, Willie gets sent over to London to do damage control and to pretend he and Alex have been best friends for ages. Willie does not look forward to it. Alex is getting slightly panicky but tells himself everything will be fine. Because it’s going to be totally fine, right? Sure …
They do the photo ops and interviews, hiding their animosity behind polite petty backstabbing, and then go to visit sick children in the hospital for a PR thing and then get shoved into a closet together at the perceived threat of a gunman (really just a kid bringing fireworks for a friend). I’ve cast Dante and Fuego as Willie’s secret service agents, btw.
So, closet time. Willie is not happy but Alex is now really having a panic attack so Willie helps him through it, because Alex may be a dick but panic attacks are no jokes. A little bonding experience but not the talk they have in rwarb.
Still, once Willie is back in the states he starts texting Alex to check up on him (I guess they officially swapped phone numbers for the whole ‘pretending to be friends’ thing) and they start talking.
Alex knows it’s a bad idea to get closer to Willie but Willie is very insistent and charming and hard to say no to so they talk more and more and Alex lets more and more of his real personality shine through and Willie is fascinated how different Alex, the guy in his phone, is to Prince Alexander. So far, it’s just a bit of fun for Willie, and he keeps the flirting light. But he loves the sarcasm and intelligence and honesty he gets to see from Alex.
Alex, of course, just falls deeper in love with him and suffers.
Also I think Willie is the only person really calling him “Alex” instead of “Alexander” aside from his sister (dead) and his best mates, Luke and Reggie (yes, that makes them British. Yes, I can’t really picture that either. Just go with it. Or maybe they’re American exchange students who stuck around. I’m sad to say they’re not all that important here so just go with whatever version you prefer). And I think that is not very helpful for Alex.
At Willie and Julie’s famous New Year Party, Alex is required to put in an appearance and things are going fine even though Alex has to struggle hard to hide how much he is in love with Willie. Flynn totally clocks it though. And Luke and Reggie already know of course (they were brought along as moral support and so they can meet the girls).
Since their friends helpfully ignore them and abscond, Alex and Willie talk a lot. Willie tries to get Alex to dance, but although Alex loves dancing, he doesn’t really do that in public so he’s a bit stiff and reluctant.
At the chime of midnight, though, things fall apart (how fairytale of them) because Alex watches Willie being kissed by random people, both girls and guys, and he flees the party tent, unable to handle it. Only Willie gets the absolutely wrong idea. Because he thinks that his first impression of Alex as a stuck up homophobe was the right one. That Alex went along with the texting and chatting only for as long as he wasn’t reminded of Willie’s queerness but the moment he sees him kissing a guy, it’s all back.
So he follows Alex, intent on confronting him but when he accuses Alex of being homophobic, out there in the snow, Alex just laughs a little hysterically and denies it (hello beloved squeaky voice). Willie doesn’t believe him and pushes and then Alex’s brain short circuits, he says “Okay” and he kisses him.
It has the desired effect of shutting Willie up but of course that kiss was exactly what Alex had tried to avoid so he flees once again. Now the whole continent.
Willie, on the other hand, calls in an emergency meeting with Julie and Flynn the next day (both of whom are very sad that Luke and Reggie disappeared along with the prince) to discuss what happened. Flynn immediately claps her hand and smugly declares that she called that, Julie is swept up in the romance of it until Flynn reminds everyone that “honey, princes aren’t allowed to be gay.”
Except Willie doesn’t want to accept that because now he’s been kissed he can’t stop thinking of Alex. Or rather, he realises that that has been the case for so long he can’t even remember when it started. And he definitely wants to be kissed again. And kiss back. And do other things to Alex.
Alex ignores all texts and calls though and drives Willie near mad but he does appear, as promised, at the state dinner thing as Willie’s guest some weeks later. He avoids Willie but Willie gets Dante to help him arrange a clandestine meeting in an adjacent room and while Alex steels himself to stammer his way through an awkward apology, Willie hardly lets him say anything at all before kissing the living daylights out of him. And Alex is utterly unable to resist Willie.
They get interrupted but Willie tells him to come to his room at midnight where he wants to do bad things to him.
Midnight comes and passes and Willie gets more and more antsy, worried he may have gotten everything wrong after all but maybe ten minutes later, there’s a hesitant knock at his door.
“You’re late” - “I know. I wasn’t sure if this wasn’t all a big mistake.” - “And now?” - “Now I know it’s a big mistake but I don’t seem able to care.”
Willie grins happily and pulls him inside and continues to kiss the living daylights out of Alex, who kisses him back with a mixture of reservation and desperation that Willie finds very intoxicating. Just like his responsiveness to Willie giving him a blowjob. Alex doesn’t return the favour but he does help him get off with his very nice hand so Willie doesn’t mind. He only regrets it a little bit that it wasn’t the hand with the signet ring because that would have been even hotter.
They have the talk about keeping things casual and for Willie, that’s truly his intention. Alex, of course, already knows he’s in love but he thinks it will be fine as long as Willie doesn’t return his feelings, he’s only hurting himself after all, and he truly doesn’t expect Willie to fall in love with him so they’re totally fine, right? Sure …
They manage to hook up again at Alex’s charity polo match, and Willie is the one taking the lead again, Alex mostly just responding very enthusiastically.
It’s when they’re meeting up in Paris (I forgot the book reason, the movie doesn’t give one so who really cares) that Willie asks Alex how long he’s known he’s gay.
“Just slightly longer than I knew princes aren’t supposed to be gay. Or if they are, they certainly aren’t allowed to act on it.”
Willie declares that to be bullshit and teases Alex that surely he didn’t follow that verdict. And is very surprised when Alex says that he did indeed do just that (divergence from rwarb!Henry but at least in this verse, I don’t see Alex doing casual hook-ups what with his anxiety and the pressure from his family).
“So …”
“So I only kissed one other boy before you. When I was five. Which was when my parents sat me down and explained how it was my duty to never ever do that again because it would upset everyone very much and surely I didn’t want that.”
“So that first time we …”
“...was indeed my first time,” Alex admits.
Willie is shocked and he also suddenly gets the whole reservation/desperation thing Alex has going on.
“You totally had me fooled,” Willie says, a little impressed.
“I’ve had a lot of practice pretending to be things I’m not, darling. Although you make it very hard to pretend anything around you.”
Since they actually have use of a hotel room this time around, Willie is now determined to give Alex a proper first time. So he proposes that they ‘make love’ and Alex is very nervous but also very determined. He tries telling himself that it won’t change anything. That it won’t change anything for Willie. That he’s just being nice to him. Sure …
Except Willie very much falls in love with Alex, even if he doesn’t quite admit it to himself yet. Besides, Alex wants to keep it casual, right? He’s probably just using Willie to finally get some dick. Which Willie can’t even blame him for. So it’s fine, right? Sure …
Willie offers to bottom but Alex surprises him when he says he wants to feel Willie inside of him.
“You sure?” - “Just because I haven’t had sex with another person yet doesn’t mean I haven’t experimented.”
Willie nearly combusts trying to imagine Alex “experimenting.”
They do in fact make love and it’s way more intimate than either of them thought possible. Cue very important image of Alex urging Willie deeper with a hand pressing down on the small of his back ;P
And then it’s back to long distance texting and calling. Alex starts writing emails to Willie which he never sends. He just needs to pour out his longing and love and thoughts somehow, keeping them out of the actual texts he swaps with Willie, which are carefully just horny and not soft.
They hook up again some time later, which is when Aunt Victoria busts them and nearly has a heart attack and does a lot of swearing in Spanish and forces Willie to tell his uncle.
Caleb, the gossip loving bitch, is honestly impressed by Willie managing to hook up with a real prince but as the president, he does have to caution Willie not to fuck everything up and to figure out if he feels forever about Alex because a relationship like that will define his life one way or another. But Willie isn’t really sure about that at that point. Because while Paris blew his mind, he and Alex are back to being vaguely casual about everything so who knows what’s actually going on here. He sure doesn’t.
Except then one fateful day Alex is maybe a little drunk or maudlin (maybe something to do with his sister’s death anniversary or something else that triggered that) and lets it slip that these emails exist. And of course Willie immediately needs to read ALL of them and needles and prods Alex until Alex goes “fuck it” and sends them, immediately regretting it and closing his laptop and burying himself in his bed to hide.
And Willie, well, he is overwhelmed by this deepest truth Alex just revealed to him. The emails paint a picture of him he hardly dares believe is truly how Alex sees him. They contain all of Alex’s love and his hurts and thoughts about the monarchy and they are so truly and utterly Alex that their shared texts so far pale by comparison. And Alex shared all of that with him. Laid himself bare. Opened himself completely to Willie, body and heart and soul.
It does a pretty solid number on him and for a few days he is actually just truly overwhelmed (because canon Willie doesn’t handle things getting serious all that well, does he?) and doesn’t know what to say to Alex.
Except he misses Alex more than ever before (and yes, all the while Alex suffers acutely from thinking he just ruined it all).
Willie eventually texts back and invites Alex to hang out at his uncle’s luxury cabin in the woods for labour day weekend where they can really talk (he can also bring Luke and Reggie because Julie and Flynn will be there as well and they demanded he ask for Alex to bring his friends).
Alex is convinced it’s a bad idea but he goes anyway. Luke and Reggie might convince him for purely selfish reasons because they want to hang out with the girls, but Alex is also too desperate to see Willie again even though he is 100% sure it’s a very bad idea.
Things are new and strange between them but also softer than ever before and while Alex panics inside about the possibility of Willie actually, inexplicably falling in love with him, he is also unable to tear himself away.
They have a great weekend together and go into a bar in town, trying for incognito but the whole Secret Service and Alex’s bodyguards thing is a bit on the nose (plus everybody was warned away from filming them etc, you know, super not suspicious). Willie falls even deeper in love when he watches Alex absolutely killing it at karaoke (after some vodka shots or many). That man can both sing and move when he forgets he is being watched and Willie is not okay!
Alex only drank all the alcohol because he tried to shut up the voices in his head worrying about the whole ‘this wasn’t supposed to get serious’ thing.
But it’s fine, right? Sure …
And then the next day has Willie just about saying out loud that he is in love with Alex, except Alex flees again before Willie can get the words out. First the bathing platform and then the continent. Again. Luke and Reggie are not happy but mostly they’re just worried.
Alex disappears into his cocoon phase, determined to nip the whole thing in the bud even though it seems a little late and he really shouldn’t have let it get that far.
Willie goes crazy over Alex’s radio silence and while Flynn is all in favour of pranking Alex in retaliation and enacting some kind of revenge, Julie suggests he should use his air miles and go to London and maybe talk to Alex first. Flynn suggests he take some eggs with him just in case. He doesn’t of course. I’m not sure you can even import eggs to the UK from America in your carry-on luggage.
Anyway. So Willie flies to London and storms a palace in the rain to confront his prince. It goes pretty much as in the movie, with Alex declaring he can’t afford to have a relationship because of the whole prince thing. And that this has been a big mistake from the beginning and he shouldn’t have done it and Willie was never supposed to fall in love with him. That he was never meant to get hurt in this.
“What about you?” - “It was always too late for me.”
Except Willie doesn’t back down and while he isn’t as forceful as rwarb!Alex in that scene, he uses his pitiable puppy dog eyes, and the shivering and hugging himself to full effect and sadly declares that he will only go if Alex directly tells him to go.
Cue “Don’t make me” and Willie getting the first inkling of hope that Alex will not actually be able to tell him to go. And of course Alex can’t.
Instead he takes him to the Victoria & Albert museum and tells him how he always wanted to bring someone he loved here and dance with him amidst the statues. He starts dancing on his own, slowly, without music, but then Willie pulls up a song on his phone and draws Alex into his arms and dances with him and it is everything Alex always wanted and Alex decides that he cannot lose this. Cannot lose Willie. They’re both determined to make it work somehow and Alex sends Willie home with his signet ring while he receives the key to Willie’s childhood home in return that Willie is always wearing (and hey, isn’t that a neat coincidence that Willie canonically already comes equipped with a key?! ;D)
They keep writing emails to each other, baring their souls, and then of course these same emails get hacked and published for the whole world to read.
In place of Miguel in the movie, I imagine the creepy Hollywood Ghost Club guy maybe worked on Caleb’s campaign and had a crush on Willie but when he made his move on him, Willie declined. He did not take that well, left the campaign and started working as a sleazy journalist who somehow gets hold of a picture or video of Alex and Willie at that karaoke bar and puts the clues together.
And it’s bad for Willie, because it is an invasion of his privacy but at least the world already knew he was also into guys. It just learns how much Willie hates being in the spotlight and misses the freedom of just skating down the street like a normal guy again.
It’s so much worse for Alex though because now his whole careful prince persona is absolutely shattered and everyone knows the deepest secrets of his heart. That he is gay. That he can be a sarcastic little shit (which princes are also not supposed to be). That he loves literature, music and dance. And that he hates being a prince and thinks the monarchy is an antiquated institution. It’s all out there for everyone to read and he is sure that everybody absolutely hates him now.
The palace forbids any communication and they take away Alex’s phone and Willie is once more driven crazy with the radio silence although he is very sure that this time it’s not Alex’s decision and that Alex is doing much worse because he doesn’t even have a supportive family that stands behind him as he does (because Caleb, Victoria and the Molinas + Flynn are all absolutely there for him).
He makes the speech from the movie, confirming the relationship and rallying against the invasion of privacy and Alex’s forced, non-consensual outing, and reminding the world that this has always been at the heart of the queer liberation movement, the right to decide when or if to come out. He braces the journalists and the camera flashes and gives that speech even though he hates giving speeches and hopes that Alex sees it. So he knows that nothing has changed for Willie. That he still loves him and stands by him. Even if the whole world turns against them.
Victoria finally manages to get Alex on the phone for Willie thanks to Shaan and Alex is Very Not Okay and even through the phone Willie can hear that Alex is close to a panic attack again. He immediately leaves for London.
The rest pretty much goes as in the movie. Alex and Willie are called in to talk to the king (Alex’s parents being present and being very judgemental) and His Majesty tries to convince Alex to deny everything and pretend it is all fake and a ruse to destroy his reputation etc yada bla but (since a sister is not at hand) I think Shaan comes in on the heels of the palace guy talking to the king and alerts Alex to the crowds gathering in support outside Buckingham Palace. Alex finally stands up to his parents and grandfather and he and Willie officially declare their relationship in front of the crowd.
They are very happy.
There might also be some election stuff going on but tbh, I’m not all too concerned with that.
Also, at some point, Willie asks Alex if he wants to have kids and Alex says no because whatever happens, his life will never be normal and he doesn’t want that for his kids. He never wanted to give any heirs to the institution of the British monarchy and even considered sterilisation to make sure of that. He might still go through with that. Also, selfishly, if he abdicates and escapes he wants to live the life he always wanted, which is absolutely fine with Willie. They can be cool gay uncles to all of their friends’ kids without tying themselves down too much, rejecting the heteronormative happy ending with 2.5 kids and a picket fence, and instead enjoying their freedom.
So that’s the Willex Red White & Royal Blue AU I won’t write. Except for giving you 4.4k of headcanons for it ;D

This was supposed to be a cute, nerdy headcanon for Reggie. It evolved into … something. Featuring a moment Juke at the end cause it's juke jeudi, and they keep worming their way into everything I write. But the Juke part can be ignored.
・°☆°・
The moment Reggie digs up his old, chunky Nintendo Game Boy (the chunky grey one), he's filled with true joy. So after ransacking the Molina house for batteries, he flings himself onto the couch in the living room. He spends hours playing Mario, deeply concentrated, brows furrowed, and the tip of his tongue poking out between his lips. Meanwhile, Julie and Carlos are watching him, baffled by this ancient technology. (Like, how the **** is this thing still working after 25+ years?!)
Later, Ray enters the living room. He's horrified by the chaos Reggie caused when he hunted down the batteries -- Victoria won't be amused. But when he sees the Game Boy and hears the familiar melody of the game, he's hit by a wave of nostalgia. He suddenly buzzes with childlike excitement and sidles up to the couch to peek over the backrest.
Engrossed, he watches as Reggie maneuvers Mario through the level, hissing when an enemy is coming too close or balling his hand into a fist to appreciate a well-executed jump.
But eventually, they hear the unmistakable melody that pronounces Mario's death. Both groan and Reggie throws his Game Boy away, sulking.
Ray clears his throat, and Reggie jerks his head around, staring at Ray, wide-eyed.
"You know …," Ray ventures, uncertain if his advice is appreciated. "There's a secret passage right behind this wall?"
Reggie just keeps looking at him, blinking hard. For a moment, Ray fears he's gone too far with his advice. Then, without saying a word, Reggie picks up the Game Boy and restarts the game, testing Ray's suggestion. And sure enough, it works. He lets out a squeal of success, then leaps to his feet and throws his arms around Ray. Ray, perplexed, pats the boy's back.
And then Reggie literally drags Ray around the couch, forcing him to sit down, shoving the Game Boy into his hands, and they have the bestest of bonding moments ever!
(And Julie maybe has a minor mental breakdown because, once again, she's reminded of how old her boys would have been if they hadn't died.)
BONUS: JUKEBOX
Later, Luke and Alex show up. Luke's already displeased because Reggie and Julie are late for band practice. But as soon as Luke spies the Game Boy, he's seething with anger. Alex has to forcibly restrain Luke from launching himself at the bassist.
As the boys wrestle, worsening the chaos in the living room, Alex explains that, back in '95, Reggie was obsessed with his Game Boy. More than once, he ditched band practice to save virtual princesses. Naturally, Luke was extremely pissed. The last time it happened, he swore to set "That Damn Thing" on fire if Reggie ever missed rehearsal again.
"So," Julie says slowly, frowning at Luke, who is pinned to the floor after Alex used his height to his advantage. "You are jealous of a … a Game Boy?"
"No," says Luke.
"Yes," says Alex.
Julie just laughs, shaking her head in fond exasperation. As Alex and Luke bicker about the exact definition of jealousy and whether the term is applicable, she notices Carlos edging closer to the couch, too, clearly intrigued by the excitement the game is causing.
"Well," Julie says, "Since we're a bassist short today, we better postpone rehearsal. I think we can all make excellent use of some spare time."
She winks at Alex, who shoots her a smile, his cheeks turning pink.
"But it's Thursday," Luke protests indignantly. "We always rehearse on Thursday and …" He trails off when he registers the look of stunned disbelief on Julie's face. He blinks, confused. Then realization dawns on him, and his eyes grow huge.
"Oh …," Luke breathes out. Like an excited puppy eager for his walk, he jumps to his feet, knocking Alex over. He scurried over to Julie. "I think you're absolutely right."
In a gesture of mock chivalry, he offers her his arm, wiggling his brows suggestively, causing Alex to make a ratcheting noise before the drummer poofs away to search for Willie.
Julie lets out an undignified snort. Instead of accepting the offered arm, she leans forward and quickly pecks his lips. Bedazzled, Luke stares at her, and Julie cannot stifle the giggle that bubbles up inside her, which only intensifies the look of awe on Luke's face. An electrical spark runs down her spine, making her nerves tingle. She gently takes his hand, intertwining their fingers, and she leads him up the stairs.
(They both jump the last step. At the same moment, Mario lets out his characteristical joyful shout of success.)

JATP Anniversary Rewatch EP 8
Buckle up kids, we got an emotional episode ahead...
Ohhhh Alex babyyyyy!
Willieeee still looking so small... Also... someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the only other time before this that Alex has seen Willie with his hair tied back is at the club? Like... Willie ties his hair back when uncomfortable or around authority figures and stuff?
"I would have still followed you." THEY'RE SOULMATES, FIGHT ME!!!!
I love how Nick is up front about wanting to spend time with Julie and asking her out. And then is super respectful when she turns him down! He's a great guy, if rather awkward. I love him.
"He might just be air, but we connect in so many other ways." Yeah don't mind me filing that away for my asexual headcanon purposes...
"Do NOT make me cry, I'm having a really good eyeliner day."
"Does it? Okay..."
"Do I have a choice?" "No."
The double sorry!
I love Carlos so much!
I repeat, Ray is such a good dad!!!
OH here comes the sob fest...
"I don't even know what I'd say to her." "Yes you do. You've already said it." Ugh they're so good for each other, and I wanna hug them both so bad....
Julie leaving the door open so Luke can come in properly <333
Agreed Emily, it is a lovely sweater!'
The cold colors of the flashbacks that contrast with the warm tones of the present!!!! I'm not crying, you're crying!!!!!
I never LET YOU GO!!!"
Mitch does so much of the talking cause Emily can't find the words
"I just wanted to do the same thing for you." <333
"This is an interesting little relationship you and I have... :)"
I love how he makes the active choice to tell her about the curse, that it isn't an accident. The jolt happened before he got there, but he was trying to tell her. It's a cool step in his character growth that he is trying to be honest even though he knows it's going to hurt her.
"I'm like the crazy glue of best friends," <3333
The Sunset Curve shirt!!!!
"Really? Signs?" "You're in a ghost band, it's a crazy world."
I just wanna hug all of them so badddd!!!
Lol pretty sure this is the only scene in the show where Alex has his hat on forwards.
"We're less than nobody, we have no bodies!"
"People don't... but ghosts do..." I love Julie Molina so much!!!

🧠 for Ray Molina,❌, and ✨ because you deserve it
🧠 Pick a character; I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
I do love the HC that Rose and Ray used to be in a relationship with Bobby/Trevor, only for them to have a falling out (usually because they discover that he stole Sunset Curve's music). I'm not usually interested in shipping Trevor with anyone but people have done some really cool things with that particular HC/dynamic
❌ What's a trope you will never write?
Answered here!
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment.
Hmmm
I think I have a good balance between action, dialogue, and introspection. Even the stuff I'd call introspection heavy makes a point to return to the action/moment before too too long; I get bored and start skimming when a story gets too reflective (especially when it starts reiterating stuff unnecessarily), so I strive not to write like that. Even the ones that lack dialogue (like this recent Rulie prompt) still have a feeling of immediacy and involvement that I really like.

Didn't you mention a Victorious AU at some point? If yes, any headcanons for that?
yes anon i absolutely did!! i'm surprised you remember honestly cause i think i only mentioned it like once? but it's a very very fun one to think about so i'm happy to share some headcanons!
so this is an au based on the nickelodeon show victorious. i've actually been thinking of making it a smau - i've never done that before, but i found a template for those slap update thingies, and it'd be fun to try something new... who knows, we'll see. if not that, it'll be a oneshot series, just small bits to work on between other projects i think. it'll exist in some sort of shape at some point lol. okay now headcanons:
in this universe, the molinas just moved in with ray and rose's longtime partner, trevor, and his kids carrie and bobby. both carrie and bobby attend a fancy artsy school
julie, carlos, carrie, and bobby definitely have nights when the adults are on a date and it's just the four of them at home. sometimes they have friends over, but at least once a month they put on a movie, order takeout, and have a sibling night. it always starts out tame but ends with them, like, sliding down the stairs on mattresses or someone getting a new piercing or something. one time, they adopted a cat
they did text and ask for permission. trevor gave it but didn't think they were being serious. the adults were in for a big surprise when they came home
sunset curve do jam together whenever they can, but they're primarily solo artists. luke writes the songs they do together and a bunch of solo stuff, bobby focuses on the recording side of music, reggie does country stuff, and alex does everything from dance to stage crew to musical numbers. also drums, of course
just. the great ping pong scam, but sunset curve. that's all.
willie attends a regular high school for most of their life. his dad works at hollywood arts, so he's reluctant to attend because he doesn't want to be accused of favouritism. he actually befriends julie at that school before she transfers, and they end up transferring after a couple of months as well
luke absolutely has some sort of musical instrument locker situation. reggie would do the clear locker, because he doesn't have anything to hide, and willie changes his every couple of weeks to keep things exciting. carrie covers hers in glitter. there's a disco ball inside
carlos meets all of his siblings' friends in the most ridiculous situations. like, he's introduced to alex and reggie when reggie accidentally used real glue for alex's creepy makeup, and walks in on the two of them trying to rip a very convincing frankenstein's monster-mask from alex's face, and he meets luke when luke is taking a challenge and is singing everything he wants to say, but, like, musical style to make it a true challenge
yes, carlos did shut the door on luke when that happened. nobody blames him for it, not even luke

Oooo JatP headcanons??? Also know I am laying on your floor on a fluffy rug and staring at you upside down while asking this. And also I have befriended your cat!
JatP headcanons!! I haven’t laid these out super well, and I stole a few of them, but here we go.
• Julie is a cat person. So is Luke. When they get an apartment together they adopt a cat.
• Reggie is obsessed with eyeliner, as shown in that one post we all saw about Reggie using up Julie’s eyeliner (where I also added some suggestions but that’s not the important part)
• Reggie is ace. Not sure if this was decided by the entire fandom or just me.
• Carlos and Willie pull the worst pranks on Alex. The worst.
• If Julie got married she would make sure she was surrounded by flowers and the people she loves. I had a drabble I wrote about jukebox getting married on a lily pond, but I lost it to docs. I may have accidentally deleted it.
• Ray met Rose at a coffee house similar to Eats & Beats, after the Petal Pushers had been performing a set. Ray had been the coffeehouse’s set videographer and also the bartender, and he and Rose bonded over music and mochas. • Trevor is so very gay.
• Butterflies and Dahlias are recurring themes and therefore signify important events in Julie’s life and so right after getting back from her first ever big time tour she gets a tattoo of a butterfly resting at the centre of a dahlia, around which is ‘you can do it, Julie’ in Rose’s handwriting. And then when she adopts aforementioned cat, she gets their collar engraved with a dahlia. And when she moves into the apartment with Luke, they hang a larger-than-life piece of watercolor art of a dahlia on their wall. To remind her of Rose, and that every day, she helps Rose’s legacy live on.
• Julie’s background is a picture Reggie took of Jukebox sleeping on the studio couch together. (Yes, it’s a To All The Boys reference, leave me alone)
• Nick and Reggie if we’re in canon, Boggie and Nick is aroace if this is an everyone-is-alive-at-the-same-time-and-is-like-16-or-17 AU.
• Julie’s hair smells like raspberries and roses
• Luke had a cat as a child that was a very sleepy small grey cat, and when he left home, that was one of the things he was most sad to leave. When he regains life 26 years later, the cat is miraculously still living with Emily and Mitch (the cat has ghost powers but no one knows this and non one ever figures it out) and runs to Julie’s house about six hours (it was napping) after Julie gifts life to the boys, reuniting with Luke.
• Mitch and Emily live about a block and a half from the Molinas. Nothing bad happened to the cat
So those are the headcanons I can remember right now!! I have more but those are the major ones.
We are having a sleepover and my cat is cuddling your side while your stare at me upside down on the fluffy rug whilst listening to me talk about headcanons. She is attempting to knead your side.
BONUS!! Pictures of my cat from today!!

Hey anon!! Thanks for the ask!!
So let me talk to you about The Host AU I developed for this small ficlet I wrote. Because I HIGHLY doubt I will ever write a full fledged fic for this one but I do have ideas and thoughts. . .Like a LOT of ideas and thoughts.
I broke it down into Casting thoughts and Plot Point thoughts found below the cut (due to length)
Send me a book to hear about a fic idea I may never write
'Casting’:
So for the ficlet I wrote I casted based on personalities and already existing dynamics and who would be most likely to fit
Really the hardest call was Melanie/Wanda and that casting decision was solely based on personality.
So with that in mind Carrie filled the role of Melanie. They’re both hard working fighters full of snark and sass.
Julie was then slotted into Wanda’s role because they are both self-sacrificing(would do anything for the ones they love), struggle just a little bit on identity and self-image, generally polite but not afraid to stand up for themselves or more importantly what they care about.
Carlos was always going to fill the role of Jaime. . .Which meant I had to figure out HOW and came up with the following Wilson family back story
Wilson Family: Robert Wilson had Carrie, Ray Molina had Carlos, both lost their wives and remarried while Carrie and Carlos were relatively young. Trevor Wilson is Carrie’s Uncle, Bobby Shaw is his son-Carrie’s Cousin (It’s a Wilson family tradition to name the eldest son’s Robert, which is why he goes by Bobby, he also has his Mom’s last name)
Trevor then went on to fill the role of Jeb.
Which leads us to the Jared and Ian casting. And while there is an underlying double romance thing happening in the ficlet(and story in my head), I wanted to try and shift it to be more blatantly found family.
As such Jared and Ian from the book kind of get split up between a few folks(this MAINLY impacts Plot Point thoughts)
Nick and Bobby take up the bulk of Jared’s side of things. Nick 100% covers the romance aspect.
Reggie, Luke, and Alex cover the Ian side of things. Reggie (and Luke?) covers the romance aspect. (There also may have been some casting bias due to the fact Ian is described as pale, blue-eyed, and dark haired-snow, ink, and sapphires).
Willie and Flynn would take up some of the more prominent additional characters.
Caleb took me a bit but I keep going back to wanting him to fill Doc’s role. Although he’d make a GREAT seeker fill in.
For the role of Kyle I invented a brother for Reggie. I KNOW he has other brothers floating around but I was NOT about to make any of them super violent. Also I thought it’d be fun to lean into the Peters’ are Elton John fans headcanon and name this new brother Elton or Kenneth.
‘Plot Points’:
If I were to have written this I would probably skip over or rush a lot of the pre-desert stuff
As such I have it planned that Julie/Carrie gets lost in the desert looking for Trevor’s hide out, passes out and then Nick, along with Alex and Reggie, go out to get her. Upon opening her eyes, Nick basically throws her away from him which leads to her hitting her head HARD against a rock and passing out AGAIN.
When Julie/Carrie wakes up, they’re already tucked away in the storage area hole. Nick, Bobby, and Reggie are having a HEATED discussion because they’re ALL a little overwhelmed by the whole thing:
Bobby: What the hell are we doing Nick?
Nick: I don’t know I just I
Bobby: What are you thinking What’s Trevor going to say?
Reggie(though Julie doesn’t know his name yet): Alex and Luke went to get him (and doc?).
Then Elton/Kenneth shows up with a small mob of very angry people. Julie/Carrie do the whole ‘don’t hurt him’ shielding thing throwing themselves in front of NIck and Bobby(kinda Reggie by virtue of how everyone is set up). Big fight ensues, Julie/Carrie gets knocked around a bit, and then Trevor shows up with the gun and stops the whole fiasco
Reggie curled in on himself: This is so messed up
Trevor ”Why don’t you boys go get yourselves something to eat, I’ll stay with her.”
Nick: Shouldn’t we…what about…
Trevor: Seems to me you boys may be feeling a tad conflicted over the matter, take some time to think on it.
Alex: Think on what, exactly?
Trevor: You brought her into my home, You decided to keep her here rather than take her to Doc. What happens next is up to.
Luke: Wait, us? Like all of us?
Trevor: A couple of you may have a larger vote than the others by virtue of relations and kinship, but yes, all of you.
Reggie sounding nauseous: Oh my god.
Then after seeing Julie flinch at something: This is beyond messed up
In case it wasn’t obvious, witnessing that whole thing with Julie/Carrie would THOUROUGHLY fuck with Reggie’s head. Because logically he gets the whole parasite alien thing, he gets that from the human perspective it’s a whole war and he’s on the losing side. In all other regards he just saw a girl nearly get beat to death and it’s very triggering.
So after Trevor bestows the decision on the boys (probably because he picked up on how Nick was trying to avoid HAVING to make a decision). Nick distances himself from Julie/Carrie unsure what to do. Bobby takes over the bulk over Julie/Carrie watch but in his mind Carrie is already dead anyway, why bother keeping Julie. Luke and Alex conceded they’ll follow whatever decision Bobby/Nick make and also avoid Julie/Carrie.
Reggie is the only other one that even checks up on Julie/Carrie. He doesn’t know what to think because of all the aforementioned. He can’t wrap his head around WHY if the alien is supposed to be out for the elimination of humankind it would use itself as a shield to protect said humans.
Trevor would eventually send Nick, Bobby, (Alex or Luke), Elton/Kenneth, and a couple others to go do the supply raid thing. Which would lead to a similar Trevor slowly getting Julie/Carrie involved in the community by having her help around the caves, with Reggie and Alex or Luke, tagging along.
Some noticeable differences would be that Julie(once she’s moderately comfortable) starts humming under her breath as she works. Eventually Reggie asks her about it and she goes quiet again trying to not draw attention to herself. Reggie apologizes and explains he doesn’t mind her humming; he was just curious.
Another difference is unlike in the book where everyone just lets Wanda never take a break, Reggie (or if he’s the one who stays behind Luke) finds out she’s been working non stop and force her to hang out with them (Reggie, Willie, Flynn).
Carlos of course is unavoidable in all this but that’s probably going to follow similar Jaime story beats anyway.
In the case of what would be the “Carlos gets sick and Julie gets snuck out to get meds” plot point Bobby, would be the one doing the whole sneak Julie out of the caves, while Nick went and got the Jeep and did the driving. Avoiding the whole silly let’s try and have you run blindfolded through the desert.
Another major difference would come during the end when they meet up with the other survivors. Ray would be there and recognize Carrie and get reunited with his family.
.
….I think that’s about all I have when it comes to plot point thoughts.
If you’ve made it this far, CONGRATS! Thanks for reading!! Have a cookie 🍪

I had a bad day so you all get more self-indulgent Caleb/Ray/Reggie ABO AU fluff.
-Caleb is constantly torn between Wanting To Spoil The Shit Out Of Reggie and his cheap-ass taste. He’d never actually tell Reggie that, of course, but deep down it pains him a little that he knows Reggie will light up more over a little plastic pumpkin than over a rolex. He finally found a decent middle ground with Ray ‘It’s the Thought that Counts’ Molina, and now this?
So when he finds Reggie in their bedroom, gently rubbing one of Caleb’s silk shirts between his fingers, he is like YES. Not just because he is Extremely Jealous of Reggie walking around in Ray’s old flannels and henleys, but also because this is the perfect opening.
So of course he asks Reggie if he likes what he sees and Reggie immediately starts to apologise. But Caleb just tells him of course he can take whatever he wants from Caleb’s closet he’s been buying extra soft shirts for months now to entice him.
Insert a scene here that is full of Sexual Tension where Caleb slips one of his silk shirts onto Reggie. He does up all the buttons, rolls the cuffs, smooths down the collar and smirks when he smells Reggie’s scent change in his arousal. He gets Reggie to agree to come with him to his tailor so he can get a properly fitted shirt and suit.
(Yes the tailor 100% calls Caleb on his bullshit when he does Reggie’s cuffs etc again and Reggie goes all flustered again.)
-Dumb ABO worldbuilding trope that I like is when scents are really complicated. Betas can’t smell them, and omegas and alphas can’t really smell their own scents unless they really focus, because they get scent-blind to their own scents.
Ray is always smoky, warm, and sometimes rich and chocolatey scents. (In my head his baseline like the smokey note of a lush Soak and Float shampoo bar.) Caleb is always icy and cold things: fresh snow, ice cold streams, etc.
In general, omegas are usually more sweet-smelling. In popular culture, it’s a massive stereotype and beauty standard. Paul was always a dick about how Reggie didn’t smell sweet and he was very  self-conscious about it. So one night he asks Ray what he smells like when Ray is snuggling with him and very clearly nuzzling at his scent glands, all happy.
And Ray is like: ... okay but promise you won’t get upset?
And Reggie of course immediately spirals like: they hate my scent I should be sweeter. And he tells Ray he can start wearing perfume if they want, or using scent-blocking soap. And Caleb looks up horrified like: don’t you dare.
And Ray admits that he thinks Reggie smells like a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Rich and warm and like spices. But he wasn’t trying to imply Reggie smells like (insert Ray awkwardly doing airquotes here) “a basic bitch”. (He knows memes, okay! Sometimes! He heard Flynn say it once!)
And Caleb is all: really? I think it’s more like pumpkin pie.
And Reggie is so mad at Paul because fuck you that sounds AMAZING he smells AMAZING and he is so pleased with himself.

6, 14 (for any fandom!), and 20! :)
6. What has been one of your favorite fandom experiences?
working together with @pink-flame for the jatp big bang last year was pretty amazing. in general all the great people i met over the years—especially the ones i can rant and scream and be awkward and even thirsty with. 😂
14. What is one of your favorite pieces of fanon for [fandom]?
for jatp i have a really complicated relationship with fanon—but one thing i can absolutely agree with and even wholeheartedly support is reggie becoming a molina (through adoption by ray, i should clarify) at one point in the future.
for rogue one it’s basically the good old “people died at the end? not in my version of the movie”. also that cassian’s actually pretty good with people and sociable if he wants to be—and there’s also the theory that he’s actually a math genius and i love that one. (let’s see what “andor” does with his character.)
20. What is something you’ve learned by participating in fandom?
that the age gap between me and my partner obviously is super problematic. 😂 joke aside—thanks to the jatp fandom i got better at blocking people. that’s something i hesitated with in my earlier fandoms and sometimes that was detrimental to my mental health. now i still know the annoying stuff is out there (and the knowledge annoys me a bit, too) but at least i don’t have to see a tag be flooded by awful takes and headcanons about these characters i love.
thanks so much for the ask, my dear! ♥️

Ooo, 12, 24, 15 for the writer asks?
Hi legolas my beloved ❤️
12) what headcanon will you keep implementing in your fics, even if canon ends up contradicting it?
Reggie becomes a part of the Molina family 100000%. Ray adopts him and he becomes the best big brother to Julie and Carlos because he just *is* a part of their family!
14) what trope would you refuse to write even if you were paid to do it?
I'm gonna assume you meant number 14 instead of 24 😂 probably accidentally pregnancy? I just have no desire to read or write that at all
15) describe (one of) your wip(s) in the weirdest/most contrived way possible! (asker can choose what wip)
I'm so bad at this lol but I'll try. Guy races through a hotel away from a monster (that was soooo bad and generic lololol)
Fanfic writer questions!

Toy Store AU!
I AM SO SORRY ABOUT HOW LONG THIS TOOK! I blame college.
ANYWAYS...
This is more of a toy factory(but like the fun kind) than a store, but that's the vibes I'm feeling. The Molina family runs a toy business, making super cool stuff from scratch rather than all that cheap plastic stuff that gets mass produced. It's a Molina family tradition that Ray married into(Yes Molina is Rose's last name, you can pry that headcanon out of my cold, dead hands).
Rose was the master of all things woodwork, and passed on many of these skills to her daughter. Their house has always been filled with little carved animals, handmade dishes, and lovely woodburned signs on the bedroom doors. Ray was slightly terrified when Rose started teaching Julie to carve pretty young, but it was mostly without serious injury.
Ray is better at the stuffed side of the toy world. He and Rose met when he was an apprentice in the stuffy workshop and she was learning the ropes from her dad. They fell slow and steady (Rose's parents shipped it from the beginning), even when Ray took some time away to act as the tour photographer for his friend, Trevor. Rose and Trevor ended up being good friends as well when they finally met!
Back to the present, Julie has just come back from a year away at boarding school. It wasn't anyone's first choice, but after Rose died, trying to be around the toy store was just too much for her. Boarding school was Tia's idea, as a way to give her some space to find herself. It helped some, but Julie comes home for the summer sick of being the girl with the dead mom. It's still hard to enter the workshop space though, so she starts working at the shop part of the business instead.
Enter Flynn, who got the cashier job back in January. The two of them become fast friends, bonding over stupid Karens, after hours restocks, and helping kids find just the right new friend. Julie discovers a surprising link between them, that being that Flynn is dating Carrie, Trevor's daughter. Trevor and Carrie hadn't been around much since Rose passed, so Julie hadn't seen Carrie in ages, but they start to get to know each other again through Flynn. It's sweet!
Alex grew up near the factory and he and Julie were super good friends as kids. They still are. Ray and Rose took a liking to him as well. So when he showed up one night when he was 16, explaining that his parents had found out he was gay and made it clear that they wouldn't be paying for anything for him outside of the roof he was 'allowed' to share with them, they quickly got him a job. He floated through positions for a while, doing well in most areas but just trying to find something that he really loved. He's settled at the moment as a delivery driver for the store. He likes the freedom of it, and how concrete it is. He's the best driver they have.
Reggie and Luke are partway into their first year as workshop apprentices. Luke mostly applied to satisfy his mom, who was angry about him not going to college, but he has discovered the fun of music boxes and maybeeee is slightly obsessed. Reggie has ended up in Ray's old position as the stuffy apprentice with his knack for tidy stitches and adding a bit of love to every single one.
Luke ends up poking around a bit in a closet of older models and stuff and finds some of Rose's music boxes(one of which has Julie's voice on it). He loves it and immediately goes to ask his boss/mentor, John, about it. John explains about Rose and how they all thought that Julie would follow in her footsteps as a woodworker, as she was one of the most talented he'd ever seen at such a young age, but how she hadn't been able to keep creating after losing her mom.
Not realizing that Julie is back now, at least for the summer, Luke gets sad but lets it go. And then she walks in on him listening to the music box in the break room a few days later. She kinda flips cause where the heck did he get that, and he goes on his whole thing about talent and art being something you have to let out. Julie ends up bolting into the workshop to get away. Luke is like, "Frick I came on too strong again didn't I..."
But who should Julie run into other than Reggie and Alex, who were packing up an order near the back of the space. And Alex immediately realizes she's having an anxiety attack and sits her down. Reggie grabs a big teddy bear for her to hug, and then ends up pulling Luke away when he comes in after her. After Julie calms down with help from Alex, Luke apologizes and they all just kinda... keep talking after that. And eventually Julie starts doing woodwork stuff again. The first thing she actually finishes is decal for Alex's bass drum with the logo of the boys' band on it. They all cry.
Andddd why must these always get so long when I do them? /nm
Anyways, hope you like it!!!!

i know we’re all absolutely pack bonded to ray molina anyway but seriously think about how many things he exhibits during the show that would have been so unfamiliar to the boys with their families
julie gets kicked out of her music program due to not participating, ray checks with her that it’s still something she cares about and then spends a day tearing his hair out trying to find another program to put her into?? and then pretends it wasn’t even stressing him out?? parental support icon
humours carlos about the ghost for the sake of a cooking and bonding experience
tries to empathise with julie’s grief experience re the ghost rather than just telling her she’s crazy: he sees her mom all the time, it’s different for everyone, etc.
“i could have been excited about tonight, instead of having this conversation we both hate!” like... not a parent Validly Communicating Their Support and Frustration at the Same Time
and then him saying that as long as she’s reasonable about it he doesn’t want to make her quit the band because ‘what kind of father would i be if i took that away from you’ (luke would just be flabbergasted)
stays in contact with flynn, julie’s best friend, of his own accord because he’s worried about julie :(
willing to sell his family home where he lost his wife and move away if it’ll help julie with her grief, but also expresses his own feelings honestly and openly
so much playful cuddling, banter, good energy, relaxed interactions etc.
as soon as he knows about the band he makes sure to turn up to every show and be as supportive as he can
anyway there’s probably more it’s just that there’s so much stuff that i’m sure the boys never got when they were alive and it makes me cry to think how much they’d love and respect ray and how much he’d teach them about what a good family looks like
