if you don't understand the rape allegory inherent to the demon's consuming the dungeon lord's desires and leaving empty, hollow shells of themselves then i dont want to talk dunmeshi with you. the consumption metaphors involves the rape metaphors.

also can we drop the idea women who are sexually assaulted are taken more seriously? real life isn't law and order SVU. a cop called my mom hysterical when she called 911 due to my dad with a record of violent rape trying to get in our house. they fucking sided with him every time. people only care about women being raped when they can make a political argument just like with child abuse.
and even though this post mentions a very personal event it's ok to reblog

The lack of understanding and empathy for cult survivors is really alienating. Because the same people that (rightfully) get upset hearing domestic violence jokes or rape jokes will make jokes about starting a cult.

i’ve wanted to create my own story set in hell for a while, something that explores what it means to be a bad person, who gets to define that, how we define our own morality and the question of is there such a thing as being beyond redemption? like. can rapists and cold-blooded murderers become better people. like i want to create a story that doesn’t shy away from difficult topics and asks hard to answer questions. and i want to make it about furries

how much do you think copaganda has influenced mens' idea that women are always believed about abuse and have it easy?
when I was younger I watched SVU to imagine a world where the cops didn't call my mom hysterical for reporting a violent rapist (with a criminal record including rape) violating a no-trespassing order, my own father. those men in uniform believed everything he said and I will never forget that day or the fact that most women don't even try to report rape because of how the cops react, or how the rapist will react.

i've been thinking about your idea of mary being raped. i think if we imagine that she made up the story of the angel etc because she was violated, it must have been so important to her to create a reality where she had agency, where she actually said yes, and was in charge of her body and decisions. that this was as much her choice as it could be in this situation, and how that would have helped her cope :(
i really like what you've said here, because you're right- and its an interesting thought, isn't it? i think mary's experience can and should function as a model for how we understand post-traumatic stress, especially when that trauma is gender-based violence. if mary was raped, who did she turn to? to another woman (elizabeth); and then she turns to God. she talks about God's mercy. my soul extols the lord. my soul magnifies the lord. a trauma response, certainly: but also it shows how much God empowers and reaches for survivors and how much the church, which came from mary's womb, should be a place for survivors. not only of gender-based and sexual violence, but all forms of oppression. look at the intersections of mary's identity: pregnant, under occupation, poor, young, unmarried. and violated? maybe, yes. in all of the gospels, God (the father and the son) and women are the only people to whom mary ever speaks.

this is an unformed thought but. so much of the sansa chapters is inundated with the threat of rape. and it never happens (though other sexual violence certainly does) but that doesn't make it not traumatizing. the continual insane pressure of being almost-raped again and again and again and again. well. it's its own kind of violence

and to plainly state the subtext: the line between acephobia and classic rape apologism simply does not exist. there is no other way to interpret assertions that no one/no woman has ever been punished for not wanting sex and that there have been no wide scale efforts to force people into it. marital rape was legal in all fifty states until 1974 due to the idea that a woman inherently owes her husband sex whenever he wants, that is not a fact that tells me "no laws have ever existed that made sex mandatory."

taking a second look at the way hazbin handled angel’s abuse, i don’t really think they handled it well. the most obvious glaring thing i can’t believe i missed was that there was no trigger/content warning at the start of the episode. literally what the hell. additionally the idea of singing a whole song about how you’re a ‘loser’ for being sexually assaulted and having self destructive coping mechanisms rubs me the wrong way. so yeah, just some thoughts. would love to hear some survivors’ inputs though.

had a transandrodork talk about rape on a post of mine in a tokenizing way, like "you're not allowed to talk about this cuz transmascs get raped" and when I was like "hey plz don't talk about rape on my not rape related post + don't use the violence of rape as a means of silencing women" and they blew the fuck up leaving like tons of violent and hateful little comments on my post like. Idk! If you cared about rape victims, maybe don't use it as an argument piece against a rape victim!
