Some Physical Descriptions

Figured I should provide some physical descriptions of the characters. Just like with the Tarot post though I'll be splitting it up between the ROs and MC's family.

Alessia

Your paternal grandmother, Ranulf's mother, and his predecessor. While you never met her, you learned a good deal about her. She was the Royal Marshal of King Hugh, and, before the consumption sapped away her strength, had the build to match. She was of very tall height, with short platinum blonde hair, heterochromatic (amber and red) eyes, and a light skin tone. The portrait of her which hangs in Castle Guyenne's grand hall shows her bedecked in beautiful bronze-colored armor and wielding a large greatsword.

Ranulf

Despite being dead for a decade and a half now, you still remember your father well. He was of average height, with short black hair, hazel eyes, and a tan skin tone. The portrait of him which hangs in Castle Guyenne's grand hall depicts him in his favorite outfit, a fine suit colored dark blue, and wielding a fine silver dagger. My current thought is that he (and by extension MC and the Council) might have been mixed-race, with his father coming from northern Yafran, but I'm not sure about that.

Ranulf's wife

Despite being dead for a decade and a half now, you still remember your mother well. While she was fond of dresses (especially ones colored blue and/or green), she was fond of practical dresses, and you know that many of her outfits were tailored so that they could easily be fought in. She was of tall height, with long brown hair. Her eye color and skin tone change depending on where she was from - if she was from a colder climate, she had a pale skin tone and blue eyes, while if she was from Hiberia or Siciny she had a light skin tone and green eyes.

Bertrand/Bertrada

Bertie gets their tall height, muscular build, and tan skin from Ranulf's side of the family, but get their long dark brown hair (including a beard if male) and their eye color from your mother's side. As your marshal, they are usually found wearing simple clothes with leather armor atop, with a preference for browns and reds. For a soldier, they have relatively few scars and blemishes, with the most significant being a large burn mark on their left shoulder.

Albus/Albane and Melanthe/Melanie

The twins are identical, however there are two main ways to tell them apart: Alb wears lighter clothes and Mel wears darker clothes, and Mel has horrible eye-bags. Alb and Mel actually heavily take after Alessia, sharing her almost-white platinum blonde hair, heterochromatic eyes, and light skin tone. Unfortunately for them, the twins inherited your grandfather's short height.

Évariste/Enora

E takes mostly after your mother's side of the family - they inherited your maternal grandfather's auburn hair, light skin tone, and your mother's overall build. However, they inherited your father's average height, and they inherited their amber eyes from Alessia. They often wear white and brown robe-like clothes.

Phillippe/Perrine

P'Enfant basically just grabbed a bunch of traits from the gene-pool and ran with them. Short blonde hair (albeit darker than Alessia's platinum-color), tall height from mom, hazel eyes from Ranulf, and light skin tone from maternal grandpa. They favor fine clothes, similar to what your father wore, but with a preference for the color green.

Fur and Feathers [Ranulf & Soren]

+1 Riding Starter for @felinebr

Horses, pegasi, wyverns, kinshi, and now riding wolves and griffons - the monastery’s menagerie keeps on growing, and the stables can barely contain all of them anymore! The Church calls students, Professors and Knights alike to help ensure that all of these animals have proper care. It’s also important to them that everyone knows how to take care of and handle all of these different species, in the name of versatility, broader horizons, and preserving harmony. Perhaps you will take this chance to bond with a new mount you’d never even considered before? [Grants Riding +1]

Soren hadn't thought it possible for one creature to have so much fur. He'd spent what felt like forever brushing one of the new huge wolves, the brush somehow always coming out with more fur from the wolf's coats. He sighed, continuing his brushing as the wolf clearly enjoyed the treatment, grey and white tail wagging as he cleaned the brush out.

As a student, he was required to put up with chores. He'd long accepted that the price to pay for staying a student as was most inconspicuous for the age he appeared to be was some indignities such as this, but this wolf seemed to have more fluff than even the Fodlan pegasi.

"You live like this?" he muttered to the wolf, dragging the bristles through again. His uniform was covered in wolf fur, light on black to make matters worse.

Light blue in his peripherals caught his eye and he looked up mid brush, blinking in surprise.

It was still difficult to comprehend that he felt about as comfortable around Ranulf as he could around anyone. Given some of the more recent arrivals from Tellius, he ought to be dancing for joy over his recently lowered bar of expectations. Even so- think about it all too hard, and he might ruin the relief that allowed his shoulders to sag. Soren kept brushing the wolf, aware he even had fur in his own hair.

"I'm afraid that you're in for a long wait if you wanted to be next."

Description: Having only recently got together with Ranulf, you’re more then a little nervous to celebrate the day of Devotion with him. Ranulf, however, is more than happy to share in traditions with you, even if they aren’t necessarily for the right holiday...

You fiddle with the material of your clothing, pulling the long material and watching as it slowly gathers again at your feet. It was once again the Day of Devotion but… this year, you had someone to celebrate with. The thought made you as happy as it did nervous.

“Boo!” You jump as a voice startles you from your thoughts. You turn behind you, finding the grinning face of you partner.

“Ranulf!” You cry, pout on your features. “You scared me, geez.” You let out a smile sigh at his grin.

“Well, tis the season right?” He chuckles softly. “Now, where’s my treat?” He adds, coming in close to you.

“Treat…?” You mumble. “Ranulf, it’s the day of Devotion. Not… the fall festival.” You giggle a little at his confused face for a moment.

“Oh, right right Day of Devotion…” He takes another look at your clothing for the festival, nodding slowly. “This is the one where you exchange gifts with everyone, right?” You nod and smile.

“Yeah, well, sorta…” Before you can go on, he continues.

“Where every hero gets a gift and puts it under a tree right..? Huh I didn’t see any on my way here though…” He looks around confused.

“No, no that’s…” You can’t help and shake your head. “Okay, yes, the Day of Devotion and winter festival both have people exchanging gifts… but it’s a little different.” You smile softly at him. “The Day of Devotion is all about showing those you care for, who you cherish above all else, what they mean to you…” You explain softly, looking at him.

“I dunno… seems like a good excuse to get more gifts to me.” He wonders aloud.

“Well… I did get you something, actually.” You admit softly. Ranulf’s eyes go wide as he looks to you. You pick up an innocent package off the table, one his eyes had just passed over in favor of taking you in instead.

“You did…?” For once, Ranulf is starstruck. The two of you hadn’t even been together for a week, after all. To think you acted so quickly and got him something… “I’m sorry… I don’t have anything for you.” He admits, clutching the box in his hands.

“That’s okay!” You smile brightly, looking into his different colored eyes. “If I’m completely honest… my original plan was to confess to you today.” You smile at him shyly, gaze trailing to the floor as you continue speaking. “I had this gift prepared in advance for you for that plan… but we got together sooner then I anticipated.” You can’t help but giggle, the sound bringing a grin to his handsome features.

“So go ahead and open it!” You insisted, weight shifting from leg to leg. “Just having you with me is gift enough, after all.” You add, laughing a little.

“You’re too cute…” Ranulf shakes his head, but gently pulls the carefully tied pink ribbon from the box. Once the lid is off, and decorative paper is careful placed aside, Ranulf looks inside to see… a garb, very similar to the one you were wearing now. In fact, as he pull’s it from the package to get a proper look at it… it compliments your own quite nicely.

“I hope you don’t think it’s strange I wanted us to match.” You say shyly. “I know a lot of heroes didn’t quite believe it when we got together but…” You move to stand beside him as he holds the green and white garment up to himself. “I don’t think they would be able to kid themselves any longer if we went out like this, huh?” The two of you make quite the pair, dressed like this. The sight is enough to pull Ranulf from his stupor.

“Geez, you really thought ahead huh?” Ranulf chuckles softly, putting the soft material down a moment to instead turn to you. “Your thoughtful gesture kind of puts my silly idea to shame…” He shakes his head softly.

“Silly idea?” You ask softly, looking up at him.

“I’m not dumb, _____, I knew today was the day of Devotion… but I didn’t have a gift, so I got a little creative when thinking of ways to celebrate with you.” He smiles softly at you. “It seems a little silly now when I see the effort you put in, even before we even got together.”

“Well I don’t mind.” You shake your head at him. “Your antics can be…” You pause. “Trying at times… But there part of the reason I adore you.” You grab one of his hands with both of your own. “So… why don’t you try on your gift, and together, we can go do what you prepared for us?” You suggested.

“...I’d like that, actually.” He looks at you with a fondness in his gaze that has a familiar heat growing on your cheeks.

“R-right! Well, I’ll wait outside my room for you so you can get changed!” You quickly leave your room, resting in the little enclave outside it lest your beating heart get the best of you. Still, you can’t help but smile fondly, excited to spend the day with the man you cared for the most.

A few minutes later, Ranulf emerges from your room, decked out in the whites and greens and golds of the clothing you had prepared from him. You can’t help but admire him a moment in silence. He even took off his headband, and you can’t help but smile at the way his hair falls down his face now, revealing his cute ears.

“Left you speechless, huh?” Ranulf has a wide grin on his face as you take him in.

“You kind of, well yeah.” You smile right back at him as words come back to you. “You look very nice, Ranulf.” You swallow thickly as you move in close to him. “Do you like it?” You ask.

“It’s different…” He laughs a little. “But seeing how happy it makes you, it’s definitely worth it.” You beam up at him.

“Can I… would it be okay if I touched you?” You ask suddenly. Ranulf looks to you in surprise.

“Um, yeah?” He answers, more so a question then not.

“Sorry, sorry…” You shake your head. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you without your headband is all… You’re so pretty.” You reach up and brush bright blue hair out of the way of red and green eyes, resting your palm on his cheek after you do so. “I’ve always known that, but taking you all in now… I feel so lucky.” You admit to him, softly smile forming on your features.

“You’re really something else.” Ranulf smiles down at you, one calloused hand moving to rest over your own on his cheek. “You wanna know what that surprise I had in store for you is?” You can see the hint of something silly forming on his lips.

“What was it?” You hum, still holding his cheek in your palm. You wanted to stay like this just a little longer, after all.

“Look above you.” You look up above, and to your surprise you see someone had hung some mistletoe right outside your door.

“Well look at that.” You chuckle softly, blush warming your cheeks at the implications. “I wonder who put that there…” You look to Ranulf, to his boyish grin gentle gaze.

“Yeah, wonder who did that… I ought to thank him…” You can’t help but giggle, even as your tilting your head of opposite of him, and letting your eyes close in sweet bliss.

“Perhaps I should too…” You murmur, before your lips meet his.

It was your first kiss together, something sweet and chaste and yearning that left you wanting more. As you pull away, looking at one another with innocent wonder and amazement in a moment of silence, you again can’t help but think how lucky you are to be with him.

In the next moment, the two of you find one anothers lips again, for another kiss that was a little less innocent and a little more longing. Again, the two of you pull away far too soon.

“Wow,” Is all you can breath out for a moment.

“Wow, is right.” Ranulf laughs out. The two of you still can seem to tear your gazes away from the other, wide eyes barely thinking as you try to remember what you were going to say next.

“Well, um…” You finally catch up with yourself, embarrassment hitting you as you look to the ground. “I think everyone will be expecting us at the festival now.” This time, as you look to Ranulf, it’s with renewed shyness. “Lets go, shall we?” The hand you had used to hold his cheek instead turns and grasps his hand, holding in your own now.

“Right, lets go.” Ranulf smiles at you as the two of you turn to face the festival and all the other heroes.

“Together.” You affirm, giving his hand a little squeeze.

“Yeah… together.” Ranulf does the same and together, the two of you walk to the day of Devotion festival, ready to show not only one another, but everyone else, what love and devotion meant for the two of you.

Leigh plays Tellius prt 14

It's time for the penultimate chapter of Path of Radiance! I was excited for this chapter, hoping that I could farm as much exp for my units as possible.

Strangely enough, I was excited to see Izuka. He's just a delightfully fun villain, the type of villain you love to hate. And is it just me, or does he somehow look worse in this game than he does in the sequel? He definitely looks older in Radiant Dawn, but for some reason looking like an old man suits him. Here, he just looks off-putting.

I am a little sad that they dropped Izuka's weird character quirk of saying "Wheee!" every few sentences. It's just so ridiculous.

Naesala really can't help but immediately flirt with Leanne, huh? I love these two. I'm always a sucker for the childhood friends trope.

I really like how they handle this scene. The visuals are very minimalist. In fact, for most of the scene, we just have a pitch black background, plus the soundtrack falls silent, which means it all falls on the dialogue to set the mood. I think it does a fantastic job. Especially having Ranulf react like this, since in every other situation he has been entirely unflappable. It's all done very subtly, which I enjoy.

I also appreciate how, even when they show the dungeons, they don't show anything explicit. (Obviously the game would have a different rating if they did.) But even without seeing the full picture, I always get chills looking at that single still image.

I'm so glad that Tibarn and Ranulf get the opportunity to tear Izuka to shreds in the sequel.

This is such a little thing, but I love that they included this. It shows that even on the supposed "good side", there are people who don't necessarily want peace, because they can benefit from war. This makes them not so different from the people they're fighting. It helps set things up for the sequel, wherein the conflicts at play are no longer so black and white.

Nealuchi, you brilliant scheming schemer, you. I completely forgot about this, and I couldn't stop grinning. I genuinely love Nealuchi. I know he's mainly there just to make Naesala more endearing (like with Rolf and Shinnon), but he's such a fun character in his own right.

Aaaaand, that's the Twisted Tower chapter!

Next time, I take on Ashnard. However, before I end this post, I did want to take a look at my main units, to see how they are doing. I would like to get as many characters to lv 20 with capped stats as possible, so let's see how close I am to accomplishing that...

Ike is already at lv 20, with 5 capped stats! Since he's already OP in Radiant Dawn, I'm excited to see how broken he'll be with all those transfer bonuses.

I don't really intend on getting Mist to lv 20, but she's already capped magic and speed, and not too far off from capping resistance. So maybe I'll give it a shot, once I've gotten Jill and Ilyana to lv 20.

Like Mist, I don't intend on getting Mia to lv 20, though she's capped both skill and speed, and close to capping strength. We'll see.

Ilyana! She has two levels to go, and she's only 1 point away from capping her speed. That's one of my top priorities, so if somehow she doesn't cap her speed on her own, I have a speedwing ready for her. She's also close to capping magic, which would also be useful for Radiant Dawn.

Jill has 5 more levels to go, and she's close to capping skill, speed, and defense. I could potentially also cap her strength, if I get lucky enough and use an energy drop, but if not, it won't be the end of the world. For Jill, I'm mainly focusing on her survivability, since I know her debut in Radiant Dawn happens in a super difficult chapter.

Nephenee, my girl! Like Mist and Mia, I'm not prioritizing getting Neph to lv 20, but she is pretty close to capping strength and speed, plus an already capped skill. So if I can get her to lv 20, that would be really nice, especially for her starting chapter in Radiant Dawn. Gotta impress Heather, y'know?

Soren is only 3 levels away from lv 20, with three stats already capped. I anticipate that he will also be able to cap magic, but if not, I have a spirit dust ready for him. I was very determined to get him to cap his speed, not only because they nerf the speed of mages in Radiant Dawn, but because his skill Adept triggers based off of speed. So I'm glad that I was able to accomplish that goal.

Kieran has not capped anything yet, but he's fairly close to capping strength, skill, and speed. It would be nice to get him to lv 20, but we'll see.

Oscar! He's already capped his speed, and he has 8 more levels to go. He's also fairly close to capping his skill. Idk if I'll get him to level 20, but it would be nice.

Man, Boyd was doing so well in the beginning of my playthru, but he fell off hard. He did manage to cap strength, and he could potentially cap HP and defense, but probably not without the help of some stat boosting items. But it's okay if I don't get Boyd any transfer bonuses. I'm mainly just going to use him as a walking support bonus for Mist.

Last on my list is Rolf! At level 12, he's quite close to capping strength, skill, and defense. He could potentially also cap his speed if I'm lucky. I initially didn't have any intentions of getting Rolf to lv 20, but honestly, I think it would be hilarious to go into Radiant Dawn with a buffed out Rolf.

And that's my team going into endgame! I'm so excited to see what will happen.

This is the Kingdom of Stone Tree Broadcasting’s Very first Episode and Debut on the internet. It is also the Debut of the returning Characters Sejia, Ranulf Ironsleeves,Faustian D’Azoral Warlock at law and Finola Vance Meteorastrologer. In this episode Finola uses the sun moon ans stars to predict the weather. Faustian debut case is a botched trade with a Witch. Sejia prescribes a potion that helps a man with many problems.

Guests have already started to take their seats in preparation for the ceremony. We know that most of the Royals are coming from Woodstock Palace, do we know where Margaret is?

Lea Sims, News Anchor: Her Majesty Queen Anne II is the last to arrive, escorted by her husband, Prince Christian, The Earl of Gloucester. This is sure to be an emotional day for these happy parents.

Robert Hugh, News Anchor: Yes, today is truly historic. There hasn't been a wedding at Winchester Cathedral since the marriage of the Queen's own parents.

Lea Sims, News Anchor: For her bridal party Margaret chose close family members and the children of close family friends. Of course her sisters are here with her on her big day with the rest of the family, playing an important part within the ceremony.

Robert Hugh, News Anchor: Yes, it has always been reported that Margaret is exceptionally close with her two younger sisters and brother. It will be interesting to see how their relationship grows throughout the coming years.

Lea Sims, News Anchor: Margaret has just arrived to the Cathedral. There were lots of talk about the direction she would go in wedding dress style. She has picked a traditional wedding dress by designer, "Bats of Westeros".

Robert Hugh, News Anchor: The Queen kept the Palace out of the choice of Margaret's dress leaving it solely her decision.

Lea Sims, News Anchor: It really does speak the the close relationship that Margaret and Queen Anne II have developed in recent months.

Robert Hugh, News Anchor: She enters the Cathedral a foreign Princess, and will exit as the new Crown Princess of Wessex, and future Queen. I know the Laguz are like a made up fantasy race or whatever but it's really weird when Ike and Ikesoren specifically never gets hit with the white saviour stick the way Dimitri and Dimidue does when they occupy almost identical narrative positions

In 2007 people weren't in the habit of misapplying social justice terminology to win shipping wars; they'd just call Ike/Soren yaoi bait and dismiss them on those grounds before going back to grumbling about why Radiant Dawn overlooked all of their M/F pairings for Ike.

Additionally, the situation is complicated by Soren himself being prejudiced against laguz, to the point that I see him being flat-out called a racist as often as Ingrid or Hilda is. If Tellius remakes beefed up the interactions between Ike and Ranulf, I could see that ship being offered as a more morally correct alternative...which would be incredibly obnoxious. I like Ike/Ranulf for the potentially kinky porn, not because it's less problematic.

Of course, I know for a fact that the reception to the Tellius games were they to get remade would be quite different from what it was back in the 2000s. The landscape of fandom has changed so much since then.

Leanne has met a few other laguz at Garreg Mach. Kurthnaga is a professor for her house, Naesala has popped his head in, and she’s pretty sure she’s seen Ranulf around. That Velouria girl is a wolf laguz as well, though her continent uses a different name to describe them. Still, laguz are few and far between in Fodlan, and it can get a little lonely.

She does not dislike beorc! On the contrary, Leanne has many beorc friends, and she has been told her fondness for beorc exceeds what someone with her experiences should have. But there are some things that only fellow laguz can really understand.

Thus Leanne really cannot be blamed if she is walking down the hall and excitement blooms in her heart at the ping of a new laguz. It’s hard to describe just how laguz can sense each other, but for Leanne, it’s similar to the general sensing of others’ feelings, just a resonance that lands in the right frequency.

She’s pretty, a pale white face framed by seafoam hair, striking red eyes looking downwards more than not. She’s evidently a student by her uniform, and definitely does not know her way around just yet! Who better than a classmate to offer her some support?

“Hello! My name is Leanne, what is yours?” She seems shy, so Leanne has to take the initiative. Besides, she doesn’t want to sit around waiting for the other laguz to approach her! Closer, Leanne is almost certain she’s a dragon laguz. Something feels a little strange about it, but maybe she’s like Velouria, hailing from a different land. Her eyes do remind Leanne of Kurthnaga, though. “Forgive me if I am being too forward, but it is lovely to meet another laguz here at the academy.”

The Tower of London, officially His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. It lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which is separated from the eastern edge of the square mile of the City of London by the open space known as Tower Hill. It was founded toward the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest. The White Tower, which gives the entire castle its name, was built by William the Conqueror in 1078 and was a resented symbol of oppression, inflicted upon London by the new Norman ruling class. The castle was also used as a prison from 1100 (Ranulf Flambard) until 1952 (Kray twins), although that was not its primary purpose. A grand palace early in its history, it served as a royal residence. As a whole, the Tower is a complex of several buildings set within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat. There were several phases of expansion, mainly under kings Richard I, Henry III, and Edward I in the 12th and 13th centuries. The general layout established by the late 13th century remains despite later activity on the site.

The kitchens are well stocked today; *too* well-stocked, in fact, because there are way too many choices for toppings, with everything you can imagine from meat to veggies to more unorthodox choices like chocolate or mapo tofu. Will you and your cooking partner come up with a brilliant new recipe, or spend the entire time arguing over whether or not that pineapple belongs on the pizza? [Grants Authority +1]

Kitchen duty isn’t the worst assignment in the world. Ranulf can’t say he’s an expert at cooking, but he’s prepared enough meals in the field to know his way around a recipe, and maybe add a little flare on top of it. Maybe he could cook up a little beorc-laguz fusion cuisine with whoever his partner is, eh?

These plans require the kitchen to be in a usable state, though. Yeesh!

He’s not quite sure what he’s looking at as he opens the door. White powder--flour, probably--coats the counters and a good amount of the floor. Bowls of dough litter the counters, ingredients scattered across the kitchen like an edible tornado. At the center of the culinary crime scene is...none other than King Pelleas of Daein himself, something red smudged across his face and smeared all over his apron. Ranulf hopes that’s the sauce he’s currently trying very hard to mix.

“Uh...hi.” It’d be awkward to walk in on anyone in this state, but Pelleas is sort of. Well. He’s got a history with Gallia, that’s for sure. And Ranulf’s willing to let bygones be cursed-contract-bygones for the sake of diplomacy and just sort of a general social peace, but his limited interactions with the man in peacetime talks have him worried the guy might burst into tears if he says the wrong thing. “You good?”
