okay so my only complaint about The Giggle is WHY WEREN'T MARTHA JONES OR YASMIN KHAN MENTIONED???

Donna is in the specials (obviously lol) and there are references to Rose Tyler throughout,, that's 2/3 of ten's companions so where the hell is Martha?? I can't remember the last time she was referenced in the show, she deserves to be acknowledged more!!

and when the toymaker was listing the doctor's companions since Donna left, he just like stopped before any of thirteen's companions, and I get that this could be because none of them actually died in which case sure, fine, but then later in the tardis fourteen and fifteen are listing people they have loved, including Rose and River (who are canonically romantic love interests) but not Yaz?? she literally just left the tardis it wouldn't make sense to not acknowledge her, especially since the doctor was literally in love with her.

one of the big hopes I had for these specials was that these two underrated, underaprecciated blorbos would be referenced or mentioned in some way but nope :( they mentioned every single other female nuwho companion except them lol

don't get me wrong I love Rose and Amy and River and Clara and Bill and I'm so happy that they got mentioned, and I love when the show references past companions at all, I'm just a little sad about Martha and Yaz being left out.

Ok, I very well could be looking too much into this, but does anyone else think it was weird how the Covey were targeted by Peacekeepers? Granted, it’s been a while since I read the original HG triology, and despite watching the film, I haven’t read the TBOSAS novel. I know a big part of the reason why Lucy Gray’s family was forced to settle into District 12 was because traveling between districts was forbidden due to the war that was going on. But I can’t help but think of something else was part of it.

I was talking about this with one of my friends, @ethereal-athalia , and I mentioned how I made the connection that the Covey in District 12 was likely part of a much larger community that was forced to split amongst themselves. The musicians would travel together, maybe there was a group of weavers and healers that formed their own “Covey.” I wonder if it was Suzanne Collin’s intention to use the Covey Genocide as an allegory of the persecution experienced by the Roma and Sinti?

When I thought of that, I then wondered if it were possible that the Capitol had their own way of “taking care” of these different branches of Covey. Because the covey weren’t really considered to be “district” by either the people in said district or by the covey themselves, and since they were considered outsiders, it would be assumed that no one would really care if they went missing.

Bear with me, because this is where it gets a little tricky to really express my thought process in this.

We all know that the Capitol isn’t above human trafficking, so would it possible that MAYBE some very few and rare members of the Covey might have been brought into the Capitol? Would it be possible that the districts those different branches of covey settled in were sold to the Capitol for whatever reason?

What if it were possible that one or two of these members caught the interest of Dr. Gaul? Maybe they were intended to be sold, but they tricked the peacekeepers into killing themselves and/or they poisoned them? Or what if one was sold because they looked similar to a Capitol child, and so they were brought in as a replacement? What if these individuals had everything that marked their heritage taken from them: their friends, their families, their dialects, the stories they grew up on, their names? Maybe they lived in misery? Maybe they ended up rising to the some of the highest social ladders at the cost of their “colors”? Or maybe they even ended up escaping to district 13????

What if these individuals who were forced to integrate into the Capitol, and had given up any hope of their history being brought back to them? All until they saw Lucy Gray Baird sing at the reaping, and then they saw her singing with the snakes? What if Snow was able to return to the Capitol because this mysterious stranger decided to sponsor him on the condition that Lucy Gray must also come to the Capitol?

Everyone thinks that if Lucy Gray stayed in the Capitol with Snow at the end of the novel, she would just be a sad trophy wife. But what if meeting this person was able to give her hope to continue not being caged? What if these two forces meet, and potentially change the course of Panem forever???

This is a very rudimentary idea, and I might not even end up writing it out, but I thought it was interesting and just wanted to share it on this platform. Also if anyone thinks that it’s a plot worth exploring, they are more than welcome to use it!

Thought I'd give another update just in case anyone was thinking I might be dead: Don't worry, I'm not!

Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth there, I just sorta fell out of things there. I hope I'll come back to writing TWST fics/fics in general and engaging on here more someday, but to be honest, with my chronic ADHD/Depression combo, I sorta have a hard time keeping up with passions, interests, and hobbies.

My New Year's resolution is to work on my passions more and try to be more of an active member in my own life as well as the communities I want to be a part of, so if all goes well, you'll see more of me here soon!

I hope you're all doing well, I really do miss the heck out of you guys! Here's to a bright and passion filled 2024!

Ranting About Sanders Sides Again Because I Can

The fact that Roman and Virgil are currently the two sides with the most stable relationship out of the whole cast right now is just, so sweet to me.

Technically you could make a case for Janus and Remus's relationship or Janus and Patton's relationship, but Janus and Remus haven't actually interacted in a canon episode just yet, and Janus and Patton's relationship is just really getting started, so I'm not counting either of those just yet.

Now, Roman and Virgil. We know them, we love them, and I think all of us know that their relationship initially started off pretty rocky. For pretty much all of Season 1 they didn't exactly get along at all. But since then, they've gotten to the point where they're genuinely really good friends, (I'd personally even call them best friends!) and they've still got their usual banter, but at this point it's become their thing. They're not really Roman and Virgil without it!

The fact that Roman's become so much more closed off towards everyone else, but is still happily bantering with Virgil really just goes to show how much he trusts him. And it makes sense! Virgil's proven to him that he actually cares about him (see FWSA for reference) and in turn that's caused Roman to become much more comfortable around him! I mean, just look at how Roman talks about him in the 5th Anniversary Episode compared to when he's talking about the others!!

See the difference? I certainly do!

Whether you consider their relationship to be currently the most stable in the series right now or not, you have to admit that Roman's relationship with Virgil is most definitely his own most stable one out of everyone right now. Including Thomas!

Honestly, if we don't get to see Roman and Virgil being freaking best friends in the season finale, you will not hear the end of it from me. There will be many a grumpy rant coming from my end.

I'm very excited to see how their relationship develops from here, both with how they're gonna be responding to Janus's acceptance, and with their interactions with just each other on their own. It'll be nice! And I'm very excited to see how it all plays out! :)

Also the Sanders Sides season finale cannot come soon enough, I am absolutely craving more content and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Wednesday (Quadruple) Drabble: The Lost and Found

She had been lost before.

Moving as a child from the Illyrian side of the city to the non-Illyrian side, hope for increased safety as consolation for leaving a part of her identity behind.

He had been lost before.

Refusals overridden, his would-be captors gaining control of his computer to falsify assent for a descent into fantasy, life in unreality as corrosive as the battery acid that powered his radiation-damaged heart.

Starbase records made clear Spock’s betrayal and, once Una reached Talos IV, it didn’t take long to locate Chris— his illusion screaming in pain from fire-borne punishment, his true form immobilized in his support chair.

The rage she needed to defeat Talosian mind control came easy.

In the shuttle she’d… procured… Chris declined her algorithm to match his speaking voice, choosing instead to use a computer default, no intonation of anguish or joy, no movement in his scarred face or change to his mechanized, steady respiration as he answered her questions.

“My best guess is Spock exploited that you’d be away from Starbase Eleven for a few weeks. He knew he was disobeying my orders and committing mutiny. He did it anyway.”

“If the Illyrian doctor is willing to try, I understand the risks.”

“Leave Vina behind. She made her alliances clear.”

So it’s at an Illyrian colony far from Federation arrogance or authority that his DNA unfurls and re-forms. Genetic engineering is usually performed before birth, but this is his rebirth, no longer the Christopher Pike who upheld Starfleet ideals but a Christopher Pike who is wary of a Starfleet that would tolerate a sham court martial rather than search for a greater truth.

Is Una reborn, too? Her belief in something greater than herself, in a Starfleet that could, in fact, become what she had hoped it to be in her idealistic younger years, that belief is withered, gone, replaced by allegiance to people, not an organization.

His skin is pockmarked, his voice reedy, gait unsteady. Genetic engineering isn’t a miracle cure.

Her sense of purpose has telescoped from appreciation for differences to appreciation for those who share her values.

Are they still lost?

Isn’t everyone?

But to be lost together… a shuttle course laid in toward a curious-looking cluster of stars, his hand a comfort on her shoulder, her soft hum the music of his naturally-beating heart… to be lost together… is something like being found.

Just started my re-watch of Gilmore Girls and FUCK do I hate Emily Gilmore. I almost forgot how awful she is after not watching for almost a year.

Like, yes she’s very funny sometimes and occasionally she does the right thing, but my god she is just the most horrible, manipulative, awful person. And she had so much potential as a character too! She could’ve had the most beautiful, touching character arc I’ve ever seen, and there were times that I thought it might happen throughout the show, but knowing that she’s exactly the same at the end of season 7, and even in AYITL, makes me even more mad.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you can’t like her as a character or enjoy her scenes. You absolutely can! There are a lot of really great moments that she has. But the fact that anyone can say that she is in the right and Lorelai is just ungrateful or selfish just blows my mind.

Staking my claim now as the #1 Lorelai (and Rory!!) Gilmore defender and the #1 Emily Gilmore hater. Also, let’s not let Richard off the hook because he is just as bad most of the time. It’s just that Emily gets more screen time so it’s more obvious. But Richard is definitely not anywhere close to innocent.
