also depends how you define viral. if you wanna lowball it and say like, posts over 20k notes. no clue. i would not even be able to ballpark. random >20k note posts show up in my activity which I do not remember making.

if you really mean viral like screen-shotted and spread around other websites... also no clue. that info doesnt come back to me unless someone tells me. i know that boba tea post killed it on final fantasy twitter. along with one of my arcane posts. candy hair saga got a really popular imgur cross-posting. my friends have seen me on the front page of reddit before. the reddit situation is funny cuz i browse reddit frequently and probably like... a dozen times now? ive just been scrolling and suddenly my own icon pops up and michael cera oh that's me voice.

but also i am very happy this is all small potatoes in the broad scheme of Internet Fame. I am not a Recognizable Name and thank god I am not Brand Worthy. this is a niche hobby and just hits the bar of fun-fact-worthy for me to tell friends about.

I'm writing fics for the event and I had a question. Does it count if the fic is about Bruno but being observed from different POVs? Like if I have a ghost story for horror prompt and Bruno is doing the haunting but it's the people he's haunting pov?

HMMM its an interesting premise, but since bruno needs to be the star of the story for it to count we're unsure that a diff povs would work BUT we're willing to let u try!! >:3c

do you have encanto fic recs? every time I watch encanto I think about how much potential there is for fic but then I never actually read any...I figure that you might be able to give me a place to start if I ever decide to make the plunge! thanks

That insane cackling you heard in the distance was me upon reading this ask. Um. Yes. Yes I do have many encanto fic recs and I’m so glad you asked! I’m limiting myself to 10 of my all time favorites. Should you choose to delve in I’d be happy to rec more. I tried to do a smattering of the types of fics I like.

Note, Bruno is my favorite character and as such most of these are Bruno-centric or he plays a major role.

Bruno explores his Gift. 

Just trust me on this one. It’s fantastic. I’ve literally reread it 5 times. If Bruno as a time wizard plus a really great look at the relationship between him and Mirabel sounds like your cup of tea I cannot recommend this one enough.

Four and a half years after hiding in the walls, Bruno has an accident bad enough for Casita to call for help, and the family’s problems stop being ignorable.

I adore everything about this fic. Cannibalthoughts writes Bruno’s internal headspace SO WELL it’s the perfect blend of humor and angst.

This one leans into the fact that they’re all Catholic and explores how Bruno feels about being a prophet. Also has a fantastic conversation between him and Mirabel. This one has my whole heart and I’ve reread it many times.

Part of the Madrigal In-Laws Verse that flushes out Felix and Agustin’s families. I highly recommend everything in this series but Prophet is my favorite.

Growing up in the close-knit community of the Encanto, Bruno Madrigal is many things to many people: a dutiful and difficult son, a loyal, irritating brother, a shining star, a lurking menace, a dear friend, a familiar mystery, and an object of scorn. When she's presented with an opportunity to finally see the ruins of the Encanto for herself, she leaps at the chance. But what--or who--she finds there will alter the lives of her family forever.

A ‘what if Mirabel ran away after her ceremony, Bruno went after her, and they both got swept down the river and lost their memories’ AU it features them reuniting with the Madrigals and it is just absolutely excellent. Rambles has a lot of Encanto fics and I love all of them.

Post-Canon. Bruno is only technically the youngest. Really, it's by fifteen minutes, but he is also the smallest, and prone to sickness. The fainting spells probably don't help the weakness his sisters see. Bruno is hypoglycemic, which is annoying, but not dangerous. It gets much worse when he enters the walls.

Listen, come closer, have you ever read something that left you just sitting in awe and wonder, something that every time you reread it you pick up on something new because there is just SO MUCH amazing detail? Because this is that. I cannot sing this fic’s praises enough. Also if AU’s aren’t your thing go read archive-rat’s other Encanto fics set in canon verse (do that even if AUs are your thing) I was very tempted to rec them individually. Landscape with the Fall of Icarus and Axolotl are my favorites. 

Just Your Ordinary, Everyday Miracle by @16magnolias Rated T 283K WIP

Bruno/Original Female Character post-canon fic that starts with the question of ‘where did Bruno get the horse?’ at the end of the movie. 

A candle. A living house. Magical powers. A 15-year-old girl named Mirabel. Miracles can come in all shapes and sizes, and Bruno's latest miracle may just take the shape of a 41-year-old widow named Lucía and her daughter Josefina. And – uh – maybe also a horse. 

This fic has my whole heart. Lucia is such a well written and flushed out character and Mags’ writing is so cozy and I love it so so so so so much. If Bruno/OFC sounds interesting definitely give this one a read.

(Obligatory plug for my own (with @optimistic-violinist) fic Take Back the Kingdom, a modern/fantasy AU where Bruno and the kids have to save their kingdom from an evil wizard with humor, hijinks, and angst galore)

3. Island of the Lost-another AU (there’s a recurring pattern here) where instead of taking the car after getting kicked out, Stan takes the boat

4. Two Worlds, One Family-Crossover AU(!)-a recently divorced Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz accidentally brings a recently kicked out Stan Pines forward in time, and the end result has the potential to work out surprisingly well for both of them

5. One Rainy Night-the beginning of my most ambitious AU ever, where a flip of a coin and a conversation with an old woman make all the difference in the world in changing the Pines twins’ future

During one of the most important weeks of his life Mirabel shows up 10 years older, blaming herself for everything, and determined to also start a new life in the city. Can Bruno help his niece reconnect with the rest of the family? Can he do it? Will his play be a hit?

It's a clichéed response, but Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. Damn but I loved Gideon (the character) from the start and I wanted to know more about her.

Also Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett. My favourite of his so far!

4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):

Do mangas count? Because I've read the Fullmetal Alchemist series by Hiromu Arakawa quite a number of times lol

5) A book on my TBR:

The rest of the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. I only read the first novella so far, and I'm hooked!

6) A book I’ve put down:

I tried to read The Well of Time a couple of times, and I've never quite managed. I don't know why it just doesn't click with me.

7) A book on my wish list:

God, so many. I'd be curious to read anything by R. F. Kuang, like the Poppy Wars series and Babel.

8) A favorite book from childhood:

I was a big fan of the Bartimaeus series by Jonathan Shroud. Barty is still one of my favourite narrators ever.

9) A book you would give to a friend:

I have the tendency to lend my books to my friends, does it count? For one, I got two of them hooked on the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson that way. I have a friend who would really like Uprooted by Naomi Novik too, but I haven't had the occasion to lend it to her yet!

11) A nonfiction book you own:

I like reading history books these days! So I have a few of Martin Wall's books about Anglo-Saxon history, and couple of books about the Viking age and the Roman era too.

12) What are you currently reading:

Artificial Condition, bu Martha Wells, and Irish History by Neil Hegarty.

13) What are you planning on reading next?

Feet of Clay by Terry Pratchett. And a lot, lot more lol...

@ramblesanddragons made a post about how Bruno would look into the future and see Star Wars and stuff and how he would love the Mars Rover and then I started thinking if he might rant about those things when sick and then this madness happened. It completely got away from me, especially in the end, I'm so sorry. This doubles as a get well soon story for you @ramblesanddragons hope you feel better soon

"Tio Bruno? Everything alright?" 

Mirabel's question, although uttered silently as to not attract too much attention, has - of course - attracted the attention of the entire family. 

'Because they are busybodies, every single one of them,' Mirabel thinks with fond exasperation, conveniently ignoring the fact that she is just as bad. 

Hence, her question. 

But honestly, Bruno looks… bad. Not 'straight out of the walls malnourished'-bad, but bad enough. He does his best to act like everything is fine, but Mirabel sits next to him at the breakfast table and she can see the sheen of sweat on his brow and the red tint to his cheeks. 

Her tio blinks at her owlishly, a vacant look in his eyes. "Huh?" 

"Are you alright?" Mirabel doesn't bother keeping her voice down. The whole family is more or less openly staring by now. 

Bruno blinks some more and then waves his hand dismissively. "Ah sure, sure. Of course. Just a bit of a headache and I stubbed my toe. The force has forsaken me today." 

Mirabel blinks. Bruno owlishly blinks back. 

"The… the what now?" 

Bruno shrugs and tries to put some butter on his knife, but somehow he can't seem to make it stick. "Miercoles. I wish I had a lightsaber right now. Would cut through this butter like… butter. Heh." 

"Uh-" 

"Luke's lightsaber. I like his color best."

"What are you-?" 

Pepa and Julieta groan and get up from their seats. Julieta gives her brother a quick kiss on the forehead (announcing "yep, a fever" to the gathered crowd) and then hurries to the kitchen to make him some healing soup. Pepa takes the knife out of Bruno's hand and butters his bread for him. 

"Don't worry about it, kids. When your uncle has a fever he sometimes talks about some weird stuff he's seen in the future." 

"It's not weird." Bruno mutters,nibbling his now buttered toast. "It's the war among the stars." He turns to Antonio sitting on his other side and pats his head. "The force is strong in you, young padawan. I can feel it." 

Antonio has no idea what that means, but he beams anyway. "Thanks Tio." 

"Wait wait wait?" Camilo leans forward. "There is gonna be a war among the stars?" 

Pepa tries to shush him, but it's too late. Bruno is already getting to his feet. He wobbles a little but keeps his balance by putting his hand on top of Mirabel's head. The girl is too perplexed to argue. "In a galaxy, far away! It's a period of civil war and the spaceships -" 

"Spaceships???" 

"Enough." Pepa snaps. "It's the fever talking. There is no war in space. And I don't think there will be, it's just your uncle talking nonsense. We can't go up to space." 

"We so will. We will be all over the place." Bruno disagrees. He lights up. "Like Opportunity! Opportunity will be up there." He lifts his head to look at the ceiling and to the horror of all but Pepa, who merely sighs, he starts to cry. "Oh Opportunity! Far away from home, but so brave. Oh, such a brave, little rover. You did good. You did really good. Everyone loved you. Will love you. Will have… Will have been lo-... Will have to have love-?" 

"Okay, he's messing up his tenses. That's our cue to get you to bed." Pepa interrupts his confused ramblings. "Tell Juli to bring the soup to his room." 

She takes her brother's arm to lead him away. Dolores gets up and walks up to them. "Do you need help, Mama? Should I cancel my date with Mariano?" 

Bruno stops and takes Dolores' face between his two hands. 

"No! Don't you dare! That's a good himbo you got there. The best. The perfect blend of hunk, jock and decent man. Don't you let him get away, Queen!" 

Pepa looks so done as she pulls him away. "Come on Bruno, there is some nice soup with your name on it waiting for you." 

They disappear around a corner but the kids can still hear some of their conversation. 

"Aw, that sounds fab af. Shut up and take my money, sis!"

"I have no idea what that means, hermanito." 

The kids all stare at each other in various states of bafflement, worry and confusion. 

"What is a himbo?" Dolores breaks the silence. "Is that… Is that something good?" 

"I'm sure it is." Agustin reassures her. "But maybe don't ask what it means either?" 

"Why?" 

"Well… once during a fever Bruno told me that the women of the future would consider me a dilf. I asked him what that meant and he wouldn't tell me but then Juli kinda forced him to tell her but then she refused to tell me! But every now and then she will look at me and whisper that word and just… giggle."

Felix pats his shoulder with an understanding air around him and all present get the distinct impression that he has a similar story to tell. 

The grandkids all exchange looks and silently agree, there and then, to never ask.

One year ago today, I started Prophetic Hijinks.

Or more accurately, I drew a single comic of Bruno getting a sweet little wave from a kind soul who didn’t know his baggage, and it snowballed from there.

I never would have guessed such a small comic, would balloon into a long running linear story arc, and darn near 100 comics!

I am thankful that I kept going and was able to share the worlds, stories and scenarios that reside inside my head. I always wanted to work in animation, and this project gave me a little taste of storytelling. As well as gave me the motivation to draw every day, and see myself improve dramatically. But, I have hit a satisfying fruition point. Covering the major story beats I wanted to tackle with the completion of the wedding comic.

That’s not to say that there won’t be more comics in the future, but definitely not at the same goal at one or two a week.

I am still in love with Encanto and in particular the fandom so full of many wonderful, funny and creative people, and their marvelous OC’s. I am so grateful to fans who stuck with my comic, and who love Elena so much they celebrate her happiness (and retribution &@$& Carlos) right along with her.
