Sorry for another d/nation post but I'm afraid we're in another desperate spot. For those who don't know, my family and I (father and younger sibling) have been homeless and living in a motel as of November 2021. I've been doing emergency commissions to try and keep up with the room and food costs, but recently I've barely been getting work and its left us severely struggling the last couple months. The people that run the motel have been kind enough to extend our time but it's been two days without paying since even with us given extra time we haven't been able to pay them back for two days now; and we just got a call that we only have four hours to get the money together before we'll be kicked out.

Since we have no family or friends help with a home or money, or a car, we'll be on the streets if we cannot stay here. Our situation is incredibly dire and we seriously need any help we can get. Since we've missed the past two nights, we owe 150$ for tonight and we haven't been able to get a cent of what we need yet, so tonight really isn't looking good for us.

What is Mutual Fund?

A mutual fund is a type of investment vehicle that pools money from multiple investors to invest in a diversified portfolio of securities such as stocks, bonds, and other assets. Investments in securities are spread across a wide cross-section of industries and sectors and thus the risk is reduced.

It is managed by a professional fund manager or an asset management company (AMC) who makes investment decisions on behalf of the investors.

Mutual funds offer good investment opportunities to the investors. Like all investments, they also carry certain risks

SEBI formulates policies and regulates the mutual funds to protect the interest of the investors.

OVERVIEW OF MUTUAL FUNDS INDUSTRY IN INDIA

The mutual fund industry in India was set up through a combination of regulatory changes, legislative reforms and the entry of various market players.

Unit Trust of India- UTI was founded in 1964, which is when the mutual fund sector in India first started to take off. To mobilize public funds and invest them in the capital markets, UTI was established as a statutory body under the UTI Act, 1963. The idea of mutual funds was greatly popularized in India because to UTI.

Regulatory Framework-In India, the mutual fund industry's regulatory structure began to take shape in the 1990s. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Act, which established SEBI as the governing body for the Indian securities markets, was passed in 1993. Among other market intermediaries, SEBI was responsible with regulating and supervising mutual funds.

The SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations,1996- This regulation established the legal foundation for the establishment, administration, and operation of mutual funds in India. These regulations outlined the standards for investor protection, investment restrictions, disclosure requirements, and eligibility requirements for asset management companies (AMCs).

Introduction of Private Sector Mutual Funds: UTI was the only active mutual fund provider in India prior to 1993. Private sector mutual funds were nevertheless permitted to enter the market as a result of the liberalization of the financial sector and the opening up of the Indian economy. Many domestic and foreign financial organizations launched their own AMCs and entered the mutual fund industry.

Product Line Evolution: The mutual fund sector in India has grown and increased its product selection throughout the years. Mutual funds initially mainly offered income and growth opportunities. To address various investor needs and risk profiles, the industry did, however, offer a wider range of products, such as equity funds, debt funds, balanced funds, and specialist sector funds.

Investor Education and Awareness: Serious efforts have been made to educate and raise investor awareness in order to encourage investor involvement in mutual funds. Industry groups, AMCs, and SEBI have run investor awareness campaigns, distributed instructional materials, and supported systems for resolving investor complaints. Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) were introduced, and this was a significant factor in luring individual investors

Technological Advancements-The mutual fund sector in India has embraced technological development, making it possible for investors to access and invest in mutual funds through online platforms and mobile applications. Investors can now transact, track their investments, and get mutual fund information more easily thanks to digital platforms.

The mutual fund industry in India has developed into a strong and regulated sector through regulatory changes, market competition, and investor-centric initiatives. The sector keeps expanding, drawing in more investors and providing them with a wide variety of investment possibilities around the nation.

I hate asking for help. But I really need it.

‼️‼️EMERGENCY DONATION POST‼️‼️

Making a post about this here because me and my family are in a dire situation and are just two hours away from being out on the street without anywhere to go. For those who don't know our situation, my family and I (myself, my father and younger sibling) became homeless in November 2021 due to my father being in a diabetic coma and losing his job, and my sibling and I losing where we lived at the time. I've been doing commissions to try and provide for us ever since because we don't have family or friends to rely on for help with food, money or a place to live.

Right now, we owe 120$ because we couldn't pay yesterday. They let us stay overnight as long as we could pay for both days tomorrow, which is today. We haven't been able to get any help whatsoever towards it and if we can't figure something out soon, we're going to be completely homeless and out on the street with nowhere to go.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Signs, Prevention and Treatment

Breast Cancer Awareness Month was started as a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the now-defunct Imperial Chemical Industries’ pharmaceutical division, to promote mammography as the most effective weapon against breast cancer.

Today, it is an annual international health campaign organized by major organizations related to breast cancer to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure.

In 2020, there were 2.3 million cases of breast cancer, resulting in the deaths of 685,000 people globally. In India, 14% of cancer cases among women are breast cancer cases.

Contrary to popular belief, breast cancer isn’t solely restricted to women. In rare cases, men can be affected with breast cancer as well. It grows in the small amount of breast tissue men have behind their nipples.

To observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we will be dedicating this article to the signs, prevention and treatment of the disease.

Symptoms:

New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit).

Thickening or swelling of part of the breast.

Irritation or dimpling of breast skin.

Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast.

Pulling in of the nipple or pain in the nipple area.

Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood.

Any change in the size or the shape of the breast.

Pain in any area of the breast.

Symptoms in Men

A lump in the breast — this is usually hard, painless and does not move around within the breast

The nipple turning inwards

Fluid oozing from the nipple (nipple discharge), which may be streaked with blood

A sore or rash around the nipple that does not go away

The nipple or surrounding skin becoming hard, red or swollen

Small bumps in the armpit (swollen glands)

Prevention

Keep a healthy weight.

Be physically active.

Choose not to drink alcohol, or drink alcohol in moderation.

If you are taking, or have been told to take, hormone replacement therapy or oral contraceptives (birth control pills), ask your doctor about the risks and find out if it is right for you.

Breastfeed your children, if possible.

If you have a family history of breast cancer or inherited changes in your BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, talk to your doctor about other ways to lower your risk.

Surgery. An operation where doctors cut out the cancer.

Chemotherapy. Using special medicines to shrink or kill the cancer cells. The drugs can be pills you take medicines given in your veins, or sometimes both.

Hormonal therapy. Blocks cancer cells from getting the hormones they need to grow.

Biological therapy. Works with your body’s immune system to help it fight cancer cells or to control side effects from other cancer treatments.

Radiation therapy. Using high-energy rays (similar to X-rays) to kill the cancer cells.

Everyone I know, knows, I absolutely HATE asking social media for money. My current living situation is taking its toll on my funds. I’m spending more money ordering out for food, than actual cooking at home.

What’s going on? the owners of the trailer park we live in, refuse to fix any of the infrastructure and are charging us for our use of water due to pump house problems now. Our tap water is linked to so many health problems we have. We’ve reported them to the health department 5 times in the past couple months. Nothing is being done to improve anything. We’ve had to resort to using bottled water for our cooking and even THAT is starting to take its toll on our wallets.

I don’t have a job, I’m a 30 year old woman in real life who was born with a physical disability and only gets supplemental benefits once a month. Where does my money go? bills, medical essentials, pet care and food. My physical disability has no known cure, other than a risky surgery that could potentially end my life. There aren’t many optional work places for those of us with physical disabilities, and we can even lose our supplemental benefits if we make too much income within the month’s time or even if we work too many hours per week. The USA’s system is NOT disabled people friendly at all, and that’s why I’m struggling so much.
