Where did Puig learn the song he sang in the finale? In theatre, or is it something that’s popular in-universe or is it something to do with his ex-wife?

The story behind this is so funny, actually!

When I first thought of the scene, I was hoping to make him sing a Broadway love song, but those are copyrighted to hell and back so I thought "maybe I should commission a lyricist to write me like a verse or two of an original broadway styled song"

Ankari [@ankariisme ] and Lluvia [@ / rainpuddles on twitter] (the musician and lyricist who helped me, respectively) imagined a whole Golden Era Styled Broadway Musical around the song, and even gave it a place in-universe!

In Akari's own words:

OK so let me tell you about this musical, it's called The Star of the City like a pretty standard early 30s musical but it's not one of the most well-known from this composer, only a couple of numbers became famous later on when some crooner made them popular with overblown orchestral arrangements on the radio but no one remembers the musical itself, you'll only see it played at musical theater schools because they have to pay low copyright fees for it

As for Puig's relationship with the song, well... Puig is a man dedicated to his work. As you can see, he currently has no life outside of it! The moment he shared with Alex, however, brought him back to who he once was for a moment-- in this case, to the student full of theater dreams he once used to be. I wont go too deep into it because there will be more focus on Puig's past during season 2!

Murkstar and Mintnose are sisters. Mintnose’s mate was Riverstone, a gray tabby tom, and their kit is Swirlkit. Murkstar’s mate was Grasstail, a brown tom with black streaks on his tail, and their daughter is Heatherpaw. Both Rivestone and Grasstail died in the recent battle against Spruceclan.

Tansystorm is the mother of Spottedtail and Skipperheart. Her mate was Tallbirch, a gray and black ticked tabby. Skipperheart’s mate was Softsong, an orange tom, and their daughter is Foxpaw. Softsong died in the recent battle, while Tallbirch died sometime before that.

Blackbriar was the brother of Gloomstar, a dark gray tom with black markings. Gloomstar’s mate was Airystep, a pale red, silver, and white she-cat. Their daughter was Swiftstream, who is expecting the kits of Fallowtail. Airystep and Gloomstar both died a couple seasons ago.

Cypressthroat and an unknown tom are the parents of Sandclaw. Sandclaw and Quailfang are the parents of Robinpaw.

Featherfur, a light brown she-cat, and an unknown tom were the parents of Petalbright, a light brown she-cat with white spots. Both Featherfur and  Petalbright died shortly after the recent battle. Petalbright was actually the med. cat apprentice, but entered the battle in an attempt to rescue her mother.

Iceclaw, a pale blue-gray and white she-cat, also died in the battle. She is not currently connected to any other cats.

Spiderfoot and Rainpuddle, a black she-cat with a dark gray face, are the parents of Rookstone and Nightwhisker. Nightwhisker’s mate is unknown, and she has 3 kits, Echokit, Snakekit, and Stormkit. Rookstone’s mate was Ravenheart, a black she-cat with white paws, and their daughter is Crowpaw. Ravenheart died in the recent battle, and Rainpuddle died sometime before.
