Finally gave in and updated my Sims 4 and a few of my mods (just the important ones, hoping like a fool that nothing bad will happen) because I wanted to become A Wizard™
Also, is Island Living any good? Like it looks neat, but I’m not convinced that it’s 54$CAD worth of “looks neat” you know?

So I thought I’d transfer all of the species profiles I’ve made to Google Drive, mainly to clear up some space on my phone, and there’s exactly 50 sentient species for my Fantasy genre WIP alone.
I wonder what that number’s gonna add up to when I transfer the species profiles from my Sci-Fi universe... It’s probably gonna be a lot.

Quick blog update; I’ve updated my OCs tag.
Before: #raesand’s oc ramblings
Now: #raesand’s ocs
Not a huge difference, but it’s easier to type (for when autofill goes fucky), and also less easily confused with my ramblings tag, which I use for off topic/personal venting and well, uh, rambling, I guess.

Noble 1: A Grey Warden? But they’re forbidden to interfere!
Noble 2: This one calls themself The Hero Of Ferelden, and does nothing else but interfere.

You know, it is kind of interesting to me how alien designs in science fiction are always limited by humans somehow??
Like, in Star Trek for example, most of the aliens all mostly look kind of like dudes with rubber molds on their foreheads or over their ears, maybe some face paint. Except for occasional Weird Alien thanks to models and very dated CGI
And there’s things like Star Wars and Farscape can get away with more wacky designs because they quite often make use of complicated puppets, but you still end up with a lot of aliens that are clearly just someone with full body paint and funky fashion choices.
And then you’ve got Doctor Who, who’s solution also is usually puppets (or CGI in some modern episodes) or strap someone in a lot of tubes, or to straight up just have Some Dude (gender neutral) directly tell the audience they are an alien with no distinctive visual markers whatsoever, or to otherwise just put some angular panels on wheels and stick an egg whisk to it (which has the potential to be way more frightening than it sounds actually)
Then we have stuff like Mass Effect, which is like a completely digital media thanks to the video game format, and while this leap in technology certainly lends itself to a large variety of non-humanoid alien designs, with the Keepers and the Reapers and the Elcor and the Hanar, but then you also still end up with a lot of bipedal aliens that have 3 fingers and 2 toes because it is simply easier to animate them that way (Turians, Geth, Quarians, Salarians, Angara, Kett, etc)
idk I just think it’s neat how sci-fi always has the markers of humanity, our distinct thumbprint I guess.

I love how every Life Is Strange game has someone with some kind of power
Max Caulfield with her time rewinding abilities
Rachel Amber with her emotion-powered weather control
Daniel Diaz with his telekinesis
Alex Chen with her empathic powers
Chloe Price and her ability to just be so confrontational and argumentative towards someone that they will just do whatever she wants

Star Trek Enterprise really paints such a funny picture when it comes to Starfleet ship design versus Klingon ship design by giving the Klingons the exact same ships they always use in every other Star Trek show
Starfleet: presenting the all new 2374 Constitution class. Ergonomically designed for your comfort, with handcrafted wood panelling for style, and the smoothest impulse engine performance to date! *is already working on the 2375 edition*
Klingons: what's up, this is my D-5 Battle Cruiser, this ship has been in our House for a dozen generations. My great great grandfather built these the warp coils with his bare hands and it will be my great grandchild's honour to replace them! *kicks the warp core when it stalls*
