Hi.

So, my favorite part of Miraculous the themes, how a costume represents animals but costumizes according to holders.

So:

Do you mind if somedy makes fanart/Oc with your characters/Miraculouses (of course, taging you as well🙂)

Could you inlude a link to your boxes or kwami pages, where you share the Miraculous' costume colour and eye with some notes, what should the designe be behind it (like, in cannon, be has many pointy shapes, the cat gives claws, most of thr time green, or coloured eye, the pig has that swirl pattern, the turle have armor plates and such, wich is not ne esary in every costume, but quirks to it most of the time😃

I can't promise I'm poing to keep all of it, because I like when the designe break some rules (like Claw noir purple eye) but i need to rules to break them...😅 (Also, for sime weard reason, I really like ref sheet😁)

Of course I don't mind! I love fanart!

It's not done, I change them as I make the kwamis and the suits. So they will definitely change, especially the ones without the pupils/icons, I haven't even drawn some of the kwamis yet, just color-picked my old palette. There's also the unicorn and stick bug so I have to replace those with the stork and vulture. The humans will stay the same though. I also just noticed I forgot to remove the squirrel damn

I don't really have the design notes, especially for every miraculous. But I can share a few:

The black cat gets claws and I usually give them a bell, because my original idea was that they can purify akumas and other things with it, but that's not what can happen now. I try to give the holders unique tails, like Marinette has the Chinese knot, Sabrina has a beel and Chri has a literal cat tail.

The white lion has fur, it's usually a hoodie but it can be on whatever. Also, the holder's hair gets lighter and they get claws.

The hellhound is kinda raggedy and has a coat/cape. The holder's hair gets darker and they also have claws.

The arctic fox has fur, a lot of fur. The swan is more sleek, more regal. The frog has a bubble pattern. The crow usually has the eyes covered. The monkey is more baggy, it has a hoodie or some kind of loose clothes. The deer has dots/freckles on the suit. I try to give the hoofed ones their hoofs. If they have a tail, I also try to give them that (some of them don't have to have it though, fox!Chris doesn't have a tail and none of the snakes have them)

Also, the user's eyes always change to the kwamis and they get five centimeters taller (or more if they have boots). Their hair always changes in some kind of way(color, style, length...).

What would you think if Chloe and Audrey heard rumours about the way they were going to be portrayed in Astruc’s new movie, so they went back to Paris in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the movie from being completed? Then an evilized villain (maybe a wishmaker-like villain or maybe even a villain that's unrelated to the butterfly miraculous) caused Chloe and Zoe to switch bodies somehow, and nobody fully understands what's going on, so Zoe (in Chloe's body) is taken by Audrey back to New York, despite Zoe desperately trying to explain things. But Chloe enters a fugue state (heavily due to trauma caused by the neglect of her parents) and genuinely thinks she's Zoe, and is even able to recall many of the things Zoe did due to being in Zoe's body. The class thinks “Zoe's” change in behavior is due to the psychological effects of method acting, since “Zoe” is playing Chloe in Astruc's new movie, but they gradually convince “Zoe” to let them help her relearn how to be “herself” again.

Zoe is not able to gain access to Chloe's memories while in Chloe's body, because unlike Chloe, Zoe knows she's in the wrong body. In New York, Zoe is trying to get back to Paris, but when she gets there, “Zoe” thinks she’s there to try to hurt Marinette. Eventually, after listening to “Chloe”, Marinette starts to suspect that “Chloe” might be telling the truth, so she decides that she must test “Chloe” and “Zoe”. She fakes being in danger to see how they react. “Zoe” reacts slightly faster than “Chloe”, so Marinette comes to the conclusion that “Chloe” is lying and that “Chloe” has an evil and manipulative plan. Marinette thinks that “Chloe” must have picked up a few tricks from Lila, because she thinks no version of Chloe could possibly react faster than Zoe when it comes to protecting her. So Audrey takes “Zoe” back to New York again to “correct” her after “Zoe” fails to convince anyone of the truth.

10 years later, “Zoe” gets seriously injured after fighting a villain when Ladybug isn’t around, which causes “Zoe” to not have long to live. Then Ladybug accidentally stumbles upon the truth about “Zoe” while trying to help “Zoe” using magical powers. Ladybug decides that the moral thing to do is to switch Chloe and Zoe back to their original bodies. Once Zoe gets her body back, she blames Chloe for her impending death and for leaving her with 10 years of loneliness, while Chloe got off scot-free. When Lila gets defeated, Zoe steals the Butterfly Miraculous to get her hands on Ladybug and Catnoir’s miraculouses, hoping to “make things right”. Zoe gets defeated by the heroes (including Chloe, who has gotten her memories back) and Ladybug manages to cure Zoe’s injuries.

This has got the be THE WILDEST sort of AU I’ve seen to date? While it sounds interesting…I dunno how to tackle something like that. And…it was random. I’ll give it that. Maybe some fleshing out, it would make a good fanfic.

Break down a little (but when you get me alone it's so simple)

I wanted to write a 14th of July fic this year, and of course the first source of inspiration I sought was the @ladynoirjuly prompt list, and lo and behold, inspiration struck! Have a kind of bittersweet, post-S4 one shot (and kind of post-Evolution/Multiplication, too, but nothing super spoilery on that front). Hope you'll enjoy!

Break down a little (but when you get me alone it's so simple)

In the heat of the 14th of July night, fireworks exploded over the Paris skyline, the Eiffel Tower dancing to the beat of Jagged Stone's music thanks to the light effects.

Perched at the top of the monument, Ladybug surveilled her territory, her brow creased despite the general merriment at her feet. It felt like only yesterday that a crowd this big had gathered in the same place, albeit on the other side of the monument, chanting their support to her, as an entirely different type of speaker took over the skies; it had been a couple of months, though, and even though she fought to slow it down, every day without the Miraculouses burned the candle of her hope closer to the end of its wick.

She felt a wave of guilt wash over her, and turned away, taking in slow, deep breaths to make it recede, focusing on the tower's lightning rod in front of her. She couldn't let herself be overcome by her negative emotions; then she'd get akumatised, and Monarch would win and she would never-

A thump startled her, distracting her momentarily from her thoughts.

"Good evening my Lady, hap- hey, what's with the long face?" Chat Noir's chipper voice turned into a worried frown as he observed her frozen stance.

Ladybug briefly considered lying to him, putting on a brave front and pretending that everything was alright, but thought better of it. If anything, she owed him honesty. Or at least as much as she could give him while keeping their identities a secret.

"It doesn't seem right," she said. "To be celebrating, when we're still fighting," she clarified when he tilted his head curiously.

"Oh, I don't know about that." There was a mischievous twinkle in Chat Noir's eyes, but she could read his slight unease in his slow movements. "If anything, it's a sign that France has already overturned one monarchy, and therefore that it can overturn another."

"But that's not exactly what the 14th of July is about, you know that, right?" Ladybug tried to laugh, but the sound died in her throat.

"Isn't it?" Chat leaned his elbows on the tower's railing, quirking an eyebrow.

"Our National holiday is about the Fête de la Fédération, which happened to be organised on the first anniversary of the taking of the Bastille, but neither was really about taking down the monarchy. Not fully, anyway. Louis the XVIth was invited," she explained.

"But he wasn't necessarily awful, just the embodiment of a system that wasn't working anymore. I'm not sure the Parisians would invite our Monarch today."

"But he's still here." Ladybug, felt panic rise again, along with tears in her eyes. "And his attacks have become even more difficult to fend off now that he's got the Miraculous powers, and we don't know how-"

"Monarch's not here, my Lady." Chat cut her off by putting his hands on her shoulders, making her look at him. She stared into his eyes, saw the poorly veiled concern in them.

"You know what I mean." Ladybug sniffled and looked away.

"He's not, or at least not more than he's ever been." Ladybug still refused to look him in the eye. He sighed, took his hands off of her shoulders and held out one of them. "Here, hold my hand." Ladybug looked at it quizzically, then him, and ended up taking it. "I'm here, see? You can't do the same for Monarch. Ergo, he's not here."

His reasoning brought a small smile to Ladybug's lips, and she gently rubbed her thumb over the back of her partner's hand.

"And you remember what I promised you that night at the Trocadéro, right? We're going to get those Miraculouses back, one at a time. I know it's taking more time than we'd like, but we'll do it. And to do that, we need high morale, which is exactly what this celebration is ensuring. Okay?" He sought her eyes with his, and found them.

"Okay," she breathed.

Below them, there was a small commotion as Clara Nightingale joined Jagged Stone on stage, and the first notes of her Miraculous song echoed in the night.

"Oh, hey. It's our song." Ladybug smiled.

"Just what we need for our morale." Chat Noir smiled too, taking a step back, still holding her hand. "My Lady, may I have this dance?"

Ladybug nodded, and he pulled her in, opting for a slow dance, the closest thing to a hug. She didn't try to keep space between them.

"Thanks, Chaton," she whispered against his shoulder.

"Anytime, my Lady," he replied, his breath tickling her ear.

She stayed buried in his embrace perhaps a little longer than was necessary after Jagged moved on to his next song, and even then, he didn't let go of her hand. Her heart soared so high, she wondered what it would feel like when they'd defeat Monarch.

Surely, it wouldn't feel as good as dancing with Chat Noir again after they did.

Summary:

When the people of Paris get so good at avoiding akumas that Hawkmoth can't seem to akumatize anyone, he knows he needs a plan. When he realizes he has the perfect resource right in front of him, his son whom he can control the actions of, he gets an idea. He forms a plan to use his son's relationship with his girlfriend, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, against her. Gabriel knew that making it appear to Marinette like Adrien had cheated, he could break her and make her the most powerful akuma victim yet.

Chapter 1:

The people of Paris are getting on Hawkmoth’s nerves a lot lately. They’ve gotten very good at avoiding akumas ever since Hawkmoth acquired all the miraculouses. Whenever someone is at risk of being akumatized, there’s a flock of people ready to help calm the person down. Many have started joining meditation classes, anger management counseling, and other things of the sort to prevent getting akumatized. Even when Hawkmoth does get the opportunity to akumatize someone, they reject his akuma, something that used to be a very rare occurrence. He hasn’t been able to fully akumatize someone in three weeks.

He needed a plan.

He knew that his plan had to consist of getting someone alone, so no one would be there to help them once Hawkmoth had a hold on them, and he would need to get them in a state of such distress that rejecting the akuma would be near impossible. He spent days thinking up ways he could make something like that work.

He heard the door to his office creak open as he was working on designs for his new line. He looked up to see his son peek his head through the door.

Oh.

I’ve had the perfect resource right in front of me this whole time, he thought.

“Father?” Adrien said hesitantly.

“Yes, Adrien, what is it?” Gabriel said with his usual coldness and rush to get back to work, but in this case, it was his plan he wanted to get back to.

“Marinette invited me to the movies this afternoon,” Adrien said excitedly. “I don’t have any photo shoots or anything, so I just wanted to ask if I could go.”

Gabriel hummed in contemplation. “Are you going with other friends, or is it going to be just the two of you?”

“Just the two of us, father,” Adrien clarified nervously. “Is that alright? She is my girlfriend, you know. You’ve let us go on dates before.”

“How could I forget,” Gabriel said sarcastically, with a small smile creeping onto his face. How could I forget, he repeated in his head. The perfect resource has been right under my nose.

“So, is that a yes?” Adrien asked hopefully.

Gabriel thought about it. He could get Adrien to break up with Marinette, then he could akumatize her. She could be really powerful too. But Marinette’s smart. She would know something’s up if Adrien broke up with her out of the blue. That wouldn’t put her in a state to be akumatized. He would have to make Adrien say and do things to put seeds of doubt in her head that he could make grow until the perfect moment.

“Sure, son,” Gabriel said after a few seconds of silence. Adrien’s face lit up. “Be back by nine o’clock.”

“Thank you Father!” Adrien exclaimed, exiting the office and closing the door behind him.

The smile crept back to Gabriel’s face. He had a plan. There’s no way it would fail.

Adrien and Marinette started dating a month ago. Gabriel actually quite liked Marinette. Adrien has invited her to their home many times, including before they’d started dating. Sure, she had her quirks that he often found annoying, but she’s good in school, has a passion for fashion design, and clearly loves his son a lot. Gabriel has grown quite fond of the girl. He’s also gotten to know her pretty well over the past month. She would be so easy to manipulate and akumatize, since Gabriel knew her better than most other people in Paris. It would hurt a little to put her through that, but he’s willing to do just about anything to bring his wife back.

Sentimonsters are complicated beings. They’re not robots. Sure, Gabriel can make Adrien do or say whatever he wants him to, but Adrien has his own, human emotions. If Gabriel made Adrien break up with Marinette, he wouldn’t be able to stop him from crying or saying something that would give away that he’s not in control of his words.

If he made Adrien do little things like be less physically affectionate with Marinette, like not allow him to hold hands with her or kiss her (which he knows they do a lot), he wouldn’t think much of it, his body would just know not to do it.

He could also get Adrien to stop texting and calling her. Slowly, he could get him to stop talking to her altogether. Marinette will assume he’s falling out of love. Then, when the time is right, he could set something up to make it look like Adrien had cheated on her. Then he could akumatize her easily, and make her really powerful. This is too perfect, Gabriel thought. He was ready to start putting his plan into motion.

He decided to take it day by day. Today, Adrien is going to the movies with Marinette. It’s a great opportunity to get his plan rolling.

Adrien was ecstatic that his father said he could hang out with Marinette today. He figured he would, because his father had been letting the two of them hang out a lot. It was a bit weird that his father was giving him more freedom. He figured it’s because his father enjoys Marinette’s company. They both do fashion design, and they both love to talk about it. Even though his father never seems to show much interest in anything, Adrien can tell when his father is enjoying a conversation and when he isn’t.

It doesn’t really matter why his father lets him spend so much time with Marinette, Adrien figured. He’s just glad he does.

Ever since they agreed to be boyfriend and girlfriend, Adrien can’t get enough of Marinette. He couldn’t understand why Marinette had a crush on him for so long because she’s the awesome one, not him. If Ladybug were never in the picture, Adrien was sure he would’ve fallen for Marinette around the same time that she fell for him. She’s just so…her. She’s beautiful, smart, determined, and so full of love. He can’t believe how lucky he got with her.

“Ew, you have that stupid look on your face,” Plagg said with disgust.

“Plagg, my dreams are coming true,” Adrien said as he was snapped out of his trance. “I wish you could understand just how great it feels to love someone so much and have them love you back the same amount. I’ve spent years pining for someone who doesn’t have feelings for me, and I’ve finally fallen in love with someone who does. It’s like, the best feeling ever.”

“I can kind of understand you, kid,” Plagg stated. “I mean, my love for cheese is immeasurable. And I know cheese loves me too.”

Adrien rolled his eyes. “Sure Plagg, whatever you say.”

Adrien heard a ding! from the phone in his back pocket. He reached for it and saw a text from Marinette 💞. He smiled at the alert.

M: Have you talked to your father about our date?

Date. Why did his heart still flutter at that word?

A: Yeah. He said I can go!!

M: Yay! I can’t wait to see you ❤️

Marinette couldn’t believe it when she learned that Adrien had a crush on her. She had been trying for what seemed like forever to work up the nerve to ask him out. Now, they were both doing it all the time.

She stood in front of the movie theater with a bright smile on her face. She had gotten there early, which is quite surprising for her. She’s been excited for this movie to come out for months, and Adrien wanted to see it with her! She was so excited that she just couldn’t wait around in her house any longer.

She leaned her back against the outside wall of the theater, keeping an eye out for her boyfriend. Boyfriend. She had a boyfriend. And it’s Adrien Agreste for crying out loud. Her life almost felt like a dream.

Adrien arrived a few minutes after she did. His bodyguard dropped him off in front of the theater. They saw each other at the same time. Smiles grew wide across both of their faces as Adrien stepped out of the car and the bodyguard drove away.

They ran to meet each other and Marinette embraced him in a tight hug. Only after slight hesitation did he hug back. She didn’t think much of it.

“Hey!” Marinette shouted excitedly. “Are you ready for the best movie you will ever watch?”

“Yeah,” he said, not quite meeting her enthusiasm the way he usually does. “Can’t wait. Let’s go!”

She took his hand in hers and looked at him, concerned. They bought the tickets, went to the correct room, and sat down in chairs next to each other.

She was still holding his hand. She squeezed it tighter. When she did, he gently pulled his hand out of hers and began messing with the hem of his shirt.

“Adrien, what’s wrong,” she asked him with concern.

“What?” He looked at her, genuinely confused. “I’m fine. Why would anything be wrong?”

“Oh,” she said, surprised by his expression. Maybe nothing was wrong. She was probably overthinking it, like she does with everything else. “Nothing, sorry, forget about it.”

His expression softened. “You know you can talk to me, right Mari?”

She stared up at him and tried to look as nonchalant as possible. “I’m sure I’m overthinking it. It’s probably nothing. It’s just that you pulled your hand away a second ago, and earlier when I hugged you you hesitated returning it. I thought something was up, that’s all.”

“Oh!” he said, taken aback. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t notice I was doing that, I-“

No, no, it’s okay, really!” Marinette interrupted. “If you’re good then I’m good, so we’re good!”

They paused awkwardly for a few seconds before they both smiled and started laughing.

“I’m sorry I’m like this,” Marinette said.

“Don’t be,” Adrien responded. “It’s cute.”

Marinette blushed and tried to hide it with her hand. Adrien smirked at that. When Marinette noticed, she blushed even harder.

The movie started so they both turned their attention to the screen. Marinette tried not to think too much about how Adrien never reached for her hand during the movie like he usually does, or that she never had to shush him during the movie because he never said a word, or how quickly he rushed out of the theater once the movie ended.

It’s probably nothing, she hoped. Right?

Inspired by MLB Season 5 Ep2: Multiplication but instead of trying to kiss her cheek, Adrien tries something else..;)

Marinette pressed her lips into a tight line as he stepped out of his car. Adrien Agreste. The son of the famous fashion designer Gabriel Agreste and most importantly, the boy she secretly loved but no longer had the right to. Not after the grave mistake she had committed— losing all the miraculouses from right under her nose.

He was friendlier these days and she believed it had something to do with the conversation they had a few days ago about him not wanting to be a model. She had never seen him so honest and vulnerable, and it made her wonder if just knowing his entire daily schedule by heart was all there was to him. Did she (or any of her classmates) ever know a shred of the real him?

The old Marinette would've loved to peer beneath more layers of him and find out. Unfortunately, she couldn't allow herself that luxury anymore.

She watched him hi-five Nino and fist-bump Alya as usual. Then came the difficult part. He turned towards her, his smile radiant and eager. She knew what was next. La Bise— a simple, french greeting she refused every day. And she did realize it was extremely rude of her but again, she couldn't.

She couldn't. She shouldn't. She absolutely mustn't.

Because if she regularly lets herself be touched by his amiable gestures, it'll be twice as hard for her to resist falling even more in love with him.

So as he lowered his face to her cheek, she stepped back and offered a handshake, hoping that he'd comply today as well and go back to treating her like every other friend.

To her utter disbelief, he wrapped his fingers around hers gently. And before she could comprehend his forthcoming actions, his lips were on the back of her palm. He planted a soft kiss there, its sensation leaving a warmth that'll linger in her heart forever.

“Good morning, Prin- Marinette.” He said, lips quirked into a ghost of a smirk.

The gesture was so familiar to that of a leather-clad, cat superhero she knew that she stared dubiously for a moment, embarrassing not merely herself but him as well with her reaction or lack thereof. When she finally looked away, she found her hand still held within his. Immediately she felt the heat of a blush crawl over her cheeks and snatched her hand away, stumbling back.

“Goodbye– No! I mean– G-Good morning to you too!” She responded, embarrassing herself even further.

Thankfully, kind as he was, Adrien ignored her incoherent ramblings and smiled warmly at her.

"Luka."

Luka glanced up from his seat in the greenhouse area of the Liberty. Ladybug was standing on top of the glass, and he blinked to make sure he wasn’t imagining things.

After confirming that she was really there, he set his guitar aside and greeted, "Hey. Is something wrong?"

"No," she answered immediately, then corrected, "Ah—I mean, yes. Sort of."

She gestured down to the floor wordlessly and he nodded to assure that she could come down. She nodded in return, dropping to the deck so she could approach him. The greenhouse area wasn’t a discreet location normally - given all the glass windows - but it was nighttime and Paris was asleep, so he was sure they were alone.

"I wanted to apologize," she muttered, a deep regret in her gaze, "for getting you - everyone, really - involved in all of this. Giving you a miraculous has caused nothing but trouble for you."

Luka couldn't respond at first, shocked at the suddenness of the conversation. It wasn’t like he’d forgotten what’d happen that day, but he hadn’t imagined her feeling any guilt over it. "I... Ladybug, you don't have to apologize for anything. I was glad I got to protect Paris."

"But it was my mistake that got your identity found out," she whispered. Averting her gaze, she added forlornly, "It was barely a few weeks ago when I got someone to talk about my hero life, and now they're probably going to be targeted by Shadow Moth because they needed to help me. I'm supposed to be protecting all of you, not the other way around. My hero life...” She sighed. “It's caused trouble for everyone and shown me the truth."

Something about the word "truth" unnerved him, though he couldn't quite put his finger on it. "What do you mean? What truth?"

"That I was never supposed to rely on others," she replied. "I'll only burden them. I have to carry being Ladybug by myself, or else the people I love will be Shadow Moth's next victims. Everyone I picked felt so right for their miraculouses - or so I thought - but then everything went wrong. I'm sorry, Luka, for... everything."

"Ladybug, you..." Luka trailed off. She looked empty - defeated - like she'd made a realization that she should've made long ago; a realization that’d come too late. "But, your confidant..."

"I can't change what I told them, but they did too much under Shadow Moth's watch," she explained. "They can't do anything for me anymore. It's too risky."

"Then get another one," he gently encouraged. When she gave him a confused look, he clarified, "I might not know much about you, Ladybug, but I don't think anyone can do everything alone." After some careful thought, he continued, "Even Shadow Moth had that woman - Mayura? - as his partner, and he's an adult."

Luka didn't know how old Ladybug was, of course, but he knew well enough that she was around his age. Her song implied the same: strong, brave, but also young and stressed.

"I...I can't," Ladybug argued. "I'd just be putting them in danger."

"What if they want to put themselves in danger for you?" he challenged, not willing to back down so easily. "For Paris?"

She hesitated, taking a step back and rubbing the side of her neck. "I don't have to worry about anyone this way."

"Everyone should have someone to worry about," Luka countered, a lighter, fonder tone to his voice. "I have a few myself."

She looked at him, suddenly curious. "...Really?"

"Yeah," he answered. "My sister was the first verse I ever thought about. I worry about her all the time and whether I'm doing the best I can as her brother."

He just barely heard her gentle interjection of, "I-I'm sure you are."

He gave her an appreciative smile and continued, "It's thanks to you giving her that amulet that I don't have to think about her getting akumatized anymore, and we're talking more about more now too." Then, putting a hand to a necklace that wasn't there, he added, "Marinette's my second verse."

Had it not been so dark, he would've seen the hint of pink on Ladybug's cheeks.

"Even if we're not together anymore, I still care about her. I still worry about her. She's brave and smart and I'm sure she can take care of herself, but even when I was in the vents at the event that happened today, I still wanted her to be okay. Maybe it sounds like they're burdens to me, but they make me want to be better - stronger - so nothing happens to them."

Ladybug went strangely quiet at that, though Luka could see that she seemed to be feeling some mix of emotions.

"...Thank you," she finally said, though he wasn't sure what she was thanking him for. "Really, but I don't have anyone else, and even if I did, it... it's better for me to just wear the miraculouses myself."

He understood her logic, but it was difficult to say much when he didn't know anything about combining miraculouses. "That sounds... hard, being a one-man band all the time..."

"It's what I have to do," she retorted, almost curtly. "Even if I had someone, I wouldn't know how to make it work. There are so many risks."

Luka considered that, his fingers idly stroking where the snake bangle would be in he had it. The next step was obvious, and he replied resolutely, "What about me?"

"Huh?" She gaped at him. "Wh—Luka? But—today, you... and the snake—"

"If you need to give me a different miraculous, that's okay," he assured. "Shadow Moth would never know. He'd think you figured his plan out and decided to get rid of all the heroes you had." Placing a hand to his chest rather than the non-existent necklace, he added, "And I promise, Ladybug, I'll do everything I can for you. I'm not dating anyone and I can go with any song you need me to play. If you just need to call me, I can make myself available. Even with my job, I'm usually out riding by myself, so I can stop for you."

"That—" She looked like she wanted to argue, but she stopped herself, her eyes looking back and forth between both of his like she was really trying to think about what he was saying. "...that sounds... nice, actually."

"You shouldn't have to lose everyone because of a mistake, Ladybug," he told her genuinely. He didn't know - didn't care - about the mistake she made. He only knew that she didn't need to be punished like this. "You deserve a Second Chance of your own."

Her lips pressed together, her eyes shimmering at his words. She seemed touched, and he felt trusted at the way she willingly showed vulnerability in front of him.

The moment dragged on for a few seconds, Ladybug looking at him, then the deck, and then the world around them. Finally, her hand reached for her yoyo, and she opened it to reveal a bright pink portal. She reached inside, pulling out the fox miraculous that he recognized from seeing on Rena Rouge.

"Luka Couffaine, will you accept this miraculous? Will you become my new confidant?"

"Yes," he replied. He’d tried to look and sound professional as he took it - seeing how much of a high honor it was - but with the way the corners of her lips quirked up at him, she may've been merely amused by the attempt.

She was smiling regardless at least.

He stared at the miraculous in his hands, the tiny weight of it being unable to compete with the real weight of being Ladybug's confidant now. It seemed so heavy, yet rewarding at the same time, and he couldn't imagine how little the weight must've been compared to what she carried every day.

"Luka," she called gently.

He glanced up from the miraculous to look at her, the sudden friendliness in the whisper of his name catching him off-guard.

"There's one more thing," she told him.

"What is it?" he asked, mentally preparing himself as he clutched the fox miraculous to his chest.

Yet, no amount of preparation could've prepared him for what came next.

"...Tikki, spots off."

Hi! Do you mind if I ask how Luka with Ladybug miraculous work?

This ask made me realize that, despite me repeatedly making references to a possible answer to this question, I’ve never actually directly addressed the topic. So here I go!

A key aspect of Luka as a Miraculous holder, at least according to ‘Desperada’, is that, in terms of temperament, he’s pretty much in the middle ground between Marinette and Adrien. He spends a great deal of his time as Viperion as a type of go-between, being able to match both Adrien and Marinette at their level. I’m pretty sure I’ve also mentioned that I think he could substitute for either of their Miraculouses in a pinch because of this. Basically, he’s more straightforward than Marinette but also more strategic than Adrien. That’s what makes him such a good match for the Snake Miraculous.

Basically, Luka can think strategically, he can use the Snake Miraculous to look at the factors in a battle and compare different loops to come up with a good strategy to get to the conclusion the heroes want. However, the Snake Miraculous does still work differently from the Ladybug one even if they both are best utilized by strategic holders. The game plan put together with the Snake Miraculous is one based on Intuition, using the Miraculous most effectively takes a certain amount of faith in the future, a trust that things can be worked out without including new factors. Using the Snake Miraculous requires patience, which Luka has in vast amounts.

The Ladybug Miraculous, however, is a “new factor”, it’s basically the Miraculous of providence. The power is called “Creation”, but it functions by specifically creating an item that will assure that the user’s goal is reached, if it can be used correctly. The power itself has a level of certain knowledge in itself, like it’s clairvoyant to a degree, and it gives an exact solution the user must press towards. Using the Ladybug Miraculous requires determination, while Luka himself is more the laid back sort, so the time limit on Lucky Charm would be a challenge for him to overcome. After all, with his match, the Snake Miraculous, he has nothing but time to choose his approach.

Luka’s teamwork with Tikki, on the other hand, could potentially be as good as Marinette’s. Luka has a personality that helps him get along with all sorts, especially if the other party’s personal quirks don’t cause friction, in addition to which he has a strong nurturing aspect. Luka and Tikki are pretty similar in those aspects, although Tikki’s nurturing is more of a part of her being a “beginner-friendly Kwami” rather than it coming naturally to her. After all, Tikki has been shown to be very bad at judging what people actually need emotionally, considering how often her attempts at cheering up Marinette have made her feel worse. With Luka, that wouldn’t really be an issue, since Luka is himself more astute when it comes to others and is self-sufficient enough to not require much guidance from Tikki. In fact, Tikki could probably learn a thing or two from Luka.

What this all boils down to is essentially this: Luka is a good pick for the Ladybug Miraculous, since it takes advantage of his strength in strategy. However, the Ladybug Miraculous is also clearly intended for someone who is a leader, with its connection to providence, while Luka very much gives off the impression of being more of a passive observer and content with being a wallflower. I think Luka would be able to use the Miraculous well, but he wouldn’t be as good of a fit for the role of the Ladybug holder as Marinette is.

I’m getting the vibe of Marinette x Baku go but I’m not sure???

Why, yes, yes we are.

Strap in, ladies, gents, and NB pals~! Cuz we're gonna go down memory lane of this particular questions and it's origins.

Okay FIRST off...no. In the original drafts and storyboard / planning stage (back when it was called Quirks and Miraculouses...thank FUCK I changed it cuz it sounded grammerly annoying in my end), Marinette and Bakugo were NOT a thing. In total fact, they absolutely hated and avoided each other like the plague.

In fact, the first thought of a shipping pair was....

These two were planned out due to a lot of fan art and animatics drawn of them by me. Back in the day of the original writings of the story where it was extended to DCU and MCU, Marinette and Deku both had a LOT of options of ships (This included Daminette, a very popular crossover ship when it comes to Marinette).

But due to a lot of conflict, confusion and too many characters already, the idea of crossover-ing DC and Marvel was scrapped and just stuck to the original formula of just MHA and Miraculous / Zag worlds combining.

As for the endgame for Bakugo in the original works, he was supposed to be in a poly relationship:

...Not gonna lie, I was honestly thinking that this was a good idea at the time. But then later on realized "...Both Bakugo and Kagami don't seem like the sharing type. God, Kirishima is probably the ONLY one holding the relationship together." and so scrapped that idea too.

There was also the fact that when Alya was still a good guy in the original writing, she was supposed to be shipped with Bakugo after the poly idea was canned. But ah well, that idea went down the drain too (If you guys know, you know).

The whole "Bakunette" idea sprang up because of my Tiktok and fanart honestly. I made one joke about them that went viral at the time and well...it bled into the story.

I'll be honest with you guys, I am not even sure if they will be endgame or not. Shippings are kinda in the air right now, so who knows? Maybe down the road they aren't gonna be and will end up with someone else.

Heck, some comments before almost shipped Shinso and Marinette together in the first few chapters before Deku and Bakugo arrived in the story.

Marinette’s Best to Least

Adrien, Alya, Nino, Kagami

I kinda miss doing these. 

OK, here’s how its going to work. People can have miraculouses that fit them best (can immediately pull them off with little to no issues), then there’s 2nd best (which is middle gruond, not ideal but doable), and then the least (struggles with most). Best can range from 1-3 depending on the individual. Those who have 3 best are pretty uncommon, and are more along the lines of miraculous prodigies, of the 5 none are actually a least fit, there are just two that are 2nd best. 

Peafowl power is essentially the canon but tweaked so it’s power is making golems exclusively through the user, no reaching out to another and doing something based on what they’re feeling. And how complex and elaborate the golem is will depend on the user (specifically if they’re capable of feeling and thinking). At the core, the golem exist to serve whatever purpose it was made for and won’t deviate from that. Also golems are not made through little feathers but by a section of the fan, one quill = one golem. You can have multiple golems but you won’t end up with much of a tool. 

So now that that’s out of the way, let’s get this latest version of Best to Least going! 

Starting with Marinette. 

Marinette at the core is a dualistic character, who can either be direct in how she handles things, or prefer to do things from the background with less attention on her and can be underhanded in her initial choices (examples seen in Refleckta, Mime, Copycat, and Anansi; to name a few). She is actually ruled by both her head and her heart, which has her rely on logic and facts that allows her act as necessary, but also makes her a huge people pleaser who will go above and beyond for others.

At the core, canon is setting her up to be a miraculous prodigy, so many of these she should get down pretty well, though some she may struggle with more than others. 

Her best are Butterfly, Fox, and Bee, who all meet how she works and she can use either of them quite well from the immediate start. As these work off her strengths, depending on what she has can shape her growth and which she would wind up leaning more towards. 

Starting with Butterfly, we can see that Marinette is good at recognizing potential in people, know their strengths and what they can pull off. Actually as we see, her first thought process when she got Tikki was to pass her on to someone she thought would be more fitting, thinking Alya would a solid hero (which she is right about). She’s also open and eager to reach out to others for help and is a big team player. This miraculous also leaves it open if she wants to be a leader or not. This does also play off her nature to assist others with their problem, and her willingness to give them a needed boost if needed, any sort of boost they may need. 

Growth wise, this would have her learn to be open more to the idea of asking for help and reaching out to others, learn that she doesn’t have to shoulder everything herself. It can also be good to help her learn to put some distance between her and issues, that sometimes people need to be given a chance to solve those problems themselves without her helping or trying to make it better.

She and Nooroo would be a very sweet pair together as both are very considerate and ruled by their heart. And this being a more emotion related miraculous, Nooroo himself would be quite good in helping Marinette deal with any emotional issues.

Fox works off her observation skills, her capability to step back and take things in and consider her options, and her able to come up with complex, elaborate plans that secures their win. It also matches her inclined moments to help from the shadows and use underhanded tactics. While she’s not an outright deceiver, she is a good manipulator and is resourceful and creative enough to work things into her favor. She can also match Fox as a risk taker, for this is a daring animal that will take risks that they believe they can win. It’s not often that she will, but she is ready to try her chances. 

In terms of growth, this miraculous would lead to her relying more on underhanded and crafty tactics, and settle herself more into a background role. She still has good leadership potential and could direct a team if required, but as this miraculous is more being a background manipulator, she’d wind up less inclined to have attention on her and rather influence situations and people subtly.  This can really help her grow in terms of resourcefulness, cunning, and how well she can work/manipulate things into her favor. 

Marinette and Trixx would actually be a solid match up, as what we see, while Trixx prioritizes duties and responsibility, they’re observant enough to pick up on their user’s feelings and can address said issues. And playing headcanons that Trixx is more morally grey, can allow Marinette to not be inclined for “the greater good” all time. There are times that Marinette is more inclined for underhanded tactics (Refleckta). And observant and sharp herself, Marinette can mentally be Trixx’s equal, and won’t be solely guided/influenced by the kwami. I see this as an equal and engaging partnership that could be fun and have some interesting conversations. 

With Bee, this works off Marinete’s strength as a leader, her capability to be direct and aggressive (when required or when she wants to be), and to be a capable teamplayer as she is fine not always being the leader and is content to be a follower (hence her largely following after Alya instead of taking the lead). And if you want to factor in symbolism and traits, of the 5, Bee matches her most. Actually outside her color coding, everything about her screams Bee: being a creator, being team oriented, leadership potential, a source of nurture, warmth, and support, being a gardener, a source of assistance, being an active multitasker and busy bee, and capability to fight back but often as a last resort/response than starting something herself. 

In terms of growth, this miraculous would have her embracing the strengths of her being more direct and involved, and can add onto this idea to restore order and happiness for others and fix problems herself. It could allow her to truly bloom into herself as a leader, multitasker, defender, and provider for those around her. 

Kwami wise its not as ideal (though everything about canon Pollen is incredibly problematic). Canon wise, Pollen would be a good source of support and encouragement, and with Marinette being engaging with her kwami and considering them more her equals/friend than a servant, can prompt Pollen to start growing mentally and emotionally. Unlike Trixx, Pollen would be more morally uptight, though I don’t see her having the same intensity as Tikki in that moral uprightness. And until Pollen grows in wisdom (which takes experience), Marinette will largely have to figure stuff out herself, which potentially could be for the best (as Tikki will voice her concerns and then rely on Marinette to figure out a solution). This is a partnership where I see Pollen having more to gain than Marinette (though she’ll have a very loyal and supportive kwami which will be nice). 

Marinette’s 2nd best choices are Turtle and Peafowl. These technically do match her and she has aspects to her character that can allow her to use them well, but they aren’t exactly matching to the entirety of who she is and there are better more immediate matches. These do however offer alternative growth potentials for her. 

With Turtle, this matches Marinette in her need to step in and assist others, take the brunt of the problem herself, matching her nature as a more direct supporter. The issue though is that Marinette is more the sort to go and address the problem than hang back as a protector for others. This can also count as a miraculous of self-protection, which can be a good thing for Marinette to learn to be more conscious for her own safety (not just physical but emotional and mental). 

Growth wise, this largely will help her learn self-care, and to put distance between herself and a problem, allowing others to handle it while she focuses on those who need immediate support. This miraculous will also strengthen her drive to be a protector and helper to those in need, but learn to pick her battles better and that she can help in other ways than directly addressing a problem. 

Of the kwamis, she and Wayzz are actually closest in similarities and would get along very well. Wayzz, like Marinette, wants to address problems quickly but smartly. He is also adaptable and observant, will pick up on personality quirks of his humans, and adjust himself to meet them so they can get along better. As such, he’d learn quickly that he can be a good source of calm for Marinette, offer up logic when her imagination runs wild with her overthinking things. He would add onto the want to involve one’s self in issues and probably both wind hovering close by if there are any issues. He may spark off a tea addiction in Marinette. 

Peafowl would work off her creativity, imagination, and ingenuity. If there is an issue, she will know just what golem to create to address said problem. This is another miraculous that leaves it open if Marinette would like to join the heat of things or not, either leaving it to her golem alone or joining her golem in a fight. Like Fox, this is also a miraculous more designed to play by the user’s own rules, and Marinette has her tendencies of playing by her rules. Biggest struggle though is that golems made serve a purpose and her creations can end up more closed off to other things around them. I can also see Marinette regarding her more complex creations as “alive” when they aren’t truly. 

In terms of growth, this miraculous could help her learn to focus on one thing at a time, while she is a skilled multitasker, Marinette does have issues of taking on more than she can chew, and this is a power that’s more about focusing on one issue at a time. She can make multiple golems, but could ultimately end up weaponless as each golem is made through a piece of her fan. 

Of the little we see of the restored Duusu, I will presume that she and Marinette would get along as we see Duusu is affectionate, chatty, and very open. She has an amiable personality that Marinette can get along with. 

Between the Cat and Ladybug, Marinette is actually good with both. She has the creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness for the Ladybug. For Cat, she has the reflexes, instinct, and the willingness to take risks and be direct with issues. She can pull both of them off incredibly well. And as a creator, Marinette is capable of using both, as Ladybug creates and Cat destroys, and destruction is a form of creation. But between the two, if she had to have one, I’d actually vote for her to have the Cat instead. Not only is there an appeal of a creator having destruction, as she as a creator will know how to best destroy something (for when creating, you are destroying an item’s current form) but...

...A big part of this stems from the kwamis themselves. Tikki has been good at building up Marinette’s confidence in the end and does has helped open Marinette’s eyes to alternative choices and actions. Unfortunately, she is incredibly morally upright, to a point she can be overly critical and nitpicky of Marinette and is adding onto a developing Atlas complex that Marinette is starting to have. Tikki also has issues of prioritizing others over Marinette, and pushes for Marinette to be more considerate of others and putting them before herself. Which in itself is not bad, but self care is important too. Canonly, Tikki is no longer a good kwami for Marinette to have. 

Plagg though, in terms of personality, actually would’ve been a better match for Marinette. Not only is he calmer but also more lax and lenient. When her imagination runs wild and leads to freak outs, he can calmly offer logical counterparts to it to bring her out of the anxious episode. Nor will he pile more responsibility onto her that she herself is uncertain of adding. Like Trixx, he is along the lines of morally grey and won’t discourage underhanded tactics that Marinette wants to intitially try. Plagg is a kwami that actually prefers having his humans figure stuff out, and this works in his favor as Marinette is the sort to figure stuff out on her own. He will offer the smallest call outs and she will factor it in and change tactics. Plagg also will not be prioritizing Marinette to put others before herself, she will do that on her own and he will be a reminder to consider herself as well. 

She does incredibly well with Ladybug and is a solid Cat, but between the “two most powerful”, I’d lean more Marinette having Cat instead.

Daminette Soulmate AU - Idea/Prompt?

Yes, I know that not everyone likes Daminette in the fandom, mostly because they don’t like Damian, or crossovers, or the salt that generally comes with these fics (though I plan to keep this salt free). Which is fair.

But Daminette Soulmate fics tend to have similar starts to explaining the specific soulmate type that Damian and Marinette have that is so rare seemingly no one else has it. This is a twist on that.

The “ultra-rare” versions that I’ve seen picked are always something kind of dramatic, I guess? Swapping bodies for a period of time as an example. And sure something like that does fulfill the general understanding that the League of Assassins might not look favourably on soulmates, as Damian wouldn’t want to have a physical mark if you’re going down that route.

But I saw a Soulmate prompt that’s far subtler and kind of perfect if you’re the kind of writer who likes to play things for comedy purposes. I can’t remember the exact wording, but it goes something like:

Everything you can do, your soulmate can also.

This would go someway into explaining how Marinette can just become a superhero in minutes, what with the necessary fighting skills and battle strategy. Sure her mother was introduced as being a trained martial artist in Troublemaker but there’s no evidence that she did teach Marinette - she’s only now learning Mandarin after all (though Marinette probably would know Mandarin since it’s likely one of the languages that Damian speaks: little baby Marinette speaking random Arabic) Not to mention the idea that Ra’s and Talia accidentally taught a random French-Chinese infant how to be an assassin with no knowledge they were doing it.

Damian has mentioned a lot about the things he can do beyond fighting and language skills of course. Like being able to drive by the age of ten, hacking into NASA at six and finding it easy, he’s mentioned that he could have had a Geometry Degree (by what 13?) had his mother not killed his tutor. He’s a great artist, and he’s also able to perform magic (which he doesn’t persue despite his interest in doing so).

Of course the art and the magic could be explained in this AU as having come from Marinette. And his training and tutoring both goes some way to explaining why Marinette is almost two years younger than some of her classmates (Alix, Adrien, and Nathaniel have their 15th birthdays while Marinette is thirteen though she gets her 14th towards the end of the school year, the last timeline I saw had Befana placed in June) as well as the aforementioned fighting skill.

(When it comes to the fighting aspect of MLB I’m acknowledging that we’ve actually seen Gabriel teaching Adrien Kung Fu (?) in the Felix episode, as well as his Fencing skill. NOT writing him off completely)

But with Damian, imagine he’s now at the Manor and things have settled down into the fanon batfamily dynamic (canon batfamily has no place here and DC fans on this site have accepted that) and all of a sudden they find out that Damian can bake. Their reaction to that has nothing on finding out that Damian can make his own clothes. Of course Damian being Damian doesn’t mention not knowing where these skills came from to his family members because he already thinks it’s weird. He’s definitely not mentioning it to them after he’s convinced into playing Mecha Strike V with his siblings - the first time he’s even played a video game - and just trounces them all.

Marinette doesn’t get the luxury of being able to explain away her quirks to her family though since she’s raised by them. I’m entertaining the idea that neither Tom or Sabine actually know for sure that it’s a soulmate bond giving M the weirdest skills (though she’s never been raised to think that violence is the answer so they’re probably not as worried as they should be). Perhaps though, the closest they got to being told was a conversation with Andre the Ice-Cream man, whose advice they disregarded because he’s an ice-cream man. So Marinette definitely doesn’t know that this is abnormal.

Until, she’s in the middle of a fight as Ladybug and her miraculous starts beeping despite Lucky Charm not being called because Damian called it by accident.

He could have:

a) actually needed whatever the miraculous gave him at the time, or

b) been in an argument with a sibling about cereal (since Lucky Charms is an American brand of cereal)

Tikki tells Marinette what’s up, to her anger and frustration (and also giddiness because she’d thought she never had a soulmate - a topic that Chloé definitely bullied her on as children and Lila probably can’t comment on without the class getting defensive because of said history on the topic - and it turns out she does.)

A magic user on the League, or Wonder Woman, tells Batman. Who immediately tries to figure out who Ladybug is (this isn’t a JLA ignored Paris’ call for help fic since it plays with both LB and CN being more capable then one would assume - the miraculouses do balance each other whether you like the Love Square ship or not, and it’s not like Adrien isn’t the child of a supervillain being trained by said supervillain, I’m whether he knows it or not) only for the magic to stop him. But Damian might know.

And if Damian does know you have to entertain the thought that he also knows the rest of the Miraculous Team barring Chat Noir. Just imagine for a minute the rage he would have over his soulmate apparently not knowing who her partner in the field is. The fact that Marinette doesn’t know the identities of everyone in the Justice League until they’re standing right in from of her can be explained as her having no interest whatsoever in finding out who they are. Which would be an interesting way of showing that just because they’ve got the same skills that does not mean they’re the same people.

deku being an overly dramatic protagonist yelling out his special moves every time...

shinsou getting sad at some point about how his power is kinda villainous and thinks of giving his miraculous away to someone else...

hawkmoths son is monoma instead of adrien and monoma is made to fight for him sometimes using a chameleon miraculous...

they can partially use their powers out of costume and shinsou accidently uses it on ojiro so we have a mild sports festival 2.0 and ojiro then has issues...

Miraculous is playing one big game of Calvinball with its magic/power system and it undermines the show quite a bit

TL;DR: Miraculous has, at first glance, a very basic power/magic system… Only whenever it tries to get more complicated than “Moon Prism Power, Make up!” it ends up being an unspeakable mess, due to poor creative decisions that don’t allow for the audience to truly understand what is going on and why, outside of “whatever the plot requires so that we can get to the next scene”. 

It may well be because the people making this show wanted to shift their attention to kwamis and their powers in the future seasons, but holding onto that for seventy-something episodes has done the show a disservice.

Longg isn’t the kwami of Perfection. Longg is the kwami of being a cool dragon. And sometimes, being a cool dragon is enough, you know? Instead of doing complex things poorly, you can tackle simple concepts really well and people won’t think any less of your creation, au contraire.

Throughout the history of the superhero genre, a pretty nifty thing most creators have understood is that you need to explain a bit of how and why the hero’s powers work. Superman is superpowered because it’s all a matter of gravity, a fact underlined in the very first issue of Action Comics, in the very first page of Superman ever. The X-Men are mutants. Sherlock Holmes was bitten by a radioactive detective.

Basically, what happens in most cases is, the creators come up with a set of rules to sort of explain the storyworld so that you know to manage your expectations, so that the storyworld feels more cohesive too. That’s what I call a neat way to allow your audience to suspend their disbelief and feel more involved in the story being told! Things happen and are allowed to happen a certain way for a reason in-universe, there is a kind of logic proper to the work of fiction being built that makes it easier for the audience to fully get into said work.

In Hunter X Hunter, Nen is a pretty cool concept that is well-defined, we see what it is at first with no explanations, and it’s hella intriguing, which makes you want to know more (and that’s deliberate) and then the manga explains it to you a few chapters later and for the most part, Togashi sticks to that definition. And now we understand what is going on and how. Cool, right?

What do we have here? Creative decisions that are often given justifications in-universe to make them more believable in the context of the story being told, even though they are ultimately arbitrary decisions which can be challenged (see how Superman’s powers changed over time, for instance). You can toy with these explanations and that makes for great comedic potential, just look at One Punch Man!

Magic can be a little murkier for sure, because magic doesn’t necessarily follow rational logic. I won’t be getting into the soft/hard magic talk here. Still, if you want your audience to understand what is going on and if you’re not a complete hack (looking at you Joanne Kathleen), you tend to set up some rules so that the audience can grasp what the hell is going on, understand why something is really impressive or really basic. Is it really such a big deal that a character is able to master that one spell? Why? Ursula Le Guin and Brandon Sanderson are really good at that, and manage a good balance of mystery and understandability.

Miraculous fumbles the bag pretty hard when it comes to how its magic/power system works. Which, after 70-something episodes, is not great. 

Part of it is due to the exposition style Miraculous has chosen for itself, which could be great but ultimately isn’t, and part of it is due to poor definition in the first place.

Miraculous hates exposition dumps most of the time, and I think it’s actually a good thing. No one wants to feel as though they’re sitting through a boring class instead of having fun. Well done, guys! Exposition dumps often make you all the more aware of the artificiality of a story. And so, Miraculous mostly relies on context cues as a means of introducing you to the world. They just show you the thing and trust you to understand and interpret it properly. And sometimes, it works really well!

I still sincerely believe that Stormy Weather is a fantastic first episode, and it does its job amazingly well. In 24 minutes, you learn the very basic outlines of how stuff works, relationships between the characters and superpowers. Yes, it’s very basic, but that’s fine, you can’t drop all that new information on your audience all at once. We understand that the power within the Miraculous, that of the kwami, allows for its wearer to transform. This comes with nifty perks, heightened agility, reflexes, amazing strength, magical accessories, and special quirks unique to each of the Miraculouses.

Are we good so far? See, if we stuck to that, it’d be fine. Not mind-blowing but pretty okay still. Doesn’t have to be too complicated to be enjoyable, just look at Sailor Moon!

And then Miraculous tried to spice things up and communicated its ideas so poorly that the arbitrary decisions taken by the writers are glaring, and seriously affect the audience’s suspension of disbelief and enjoyment. 

The kwamis aren’t just cutesy mascots, they’re gods. And yet their powers are very limited. Why? Well, the show doesn’t really bring that question up, we can only try and infer things. Now, what are these limitations, and why do they exist in the first place? I’ve got a vague answer to the first question (a time limit for transformation once the special power is being used).

The answer to that second question is very unsatisfactory, and that’s the only one I’ve got: “because the plot requires it if we want to do such and such thing”. Which is an answer that applies to absolutely all creative decisions in fiction, yes, but there’s usually more to it as well, in competently-made shows at least, it’s not so transparent. Why is Marinette able to wield so many Miraculouses at once? Well, it’d look cool and it’d make her look powerful, so why not! But Adrien can’t. Why? He just can’t. No explanations whatsoever. Just because. It’s magic. Shut up and watch the show.

Well, that’s not entirely true. We’ve got fleeting remarks about being able to unlock kwami powers and maintaining a transformation for longer and whatnot. The problem is, they’re just that, fleeting remarks, and worse, they are so scattered across the show it’s really easy to forget about them in-between episodes, especially since the release schedule is absolute nonsense (it isn’t the creators’ fault, but it certainly has an impact on the way the audience engages with the show). So no, the show isn’t going down the “just roll with it” route, not entirely… And that makes the lack of proper explanation that much worse.

It feels as through the few rules there are in Miraculous are being made up on the fly and… Heh. That’s just not great.

It doesn’t help that the powers themselves are… Really something, huh?

Chat Noir’s power is the only one that really fits with what his kwami is meant to represent. Destruction. Easy to represent, right?

Creation is trickier, that requires being imaginative, and Miraculous isn’t terribly imaginative when it comes to its lucky charms. Hey kids, did you know that you could use a ladder to stop an ice-skater? How creative! I mean you could also use salt to melt the ice, or a baseball bat to smash his kneecaps, then… The point is, being convoluted isn’t the same thing as being creative, and while Chat Noir gets to decide what he destroys, Ladybug gets an item thrown at her and you better believe she’ll find an use to it… How is that creation exactly? Is the lucky charm popping out of thin air creation? That’s a bit underwhelming, isn’t it?

Tikki represents convolution, Nooroo is the power of creating minor antagonists…

I had to check the Wiki to remember what concepts the other kwamis are meant to represent. There’s a disconnect between that and the way powers are represented on-screen. Pollen isn’t the kwami of Subjection. Pollen is the kwami of stabbing people with a stinger. How do I know that? I watched the show and nothing else.

If you want your audience to not be confused, if you don’t want your story to feel completely arbitrary to your audience (though it’ll always be just that), maybe take the time to explain things that are crucial for the understanding of the storyworld’s inner workings. You don’t have to give everything away in the first ten episodes, not at all, but you should explain them at some point, take the time to do so if these are more complex concepts that are crucial to your show. And if they aren’t key to your show, you don’t have to include them, and I promise no-one will notice.
