Best Friend Headcanons with Izuku Midoriya

𓆃 Overall a solid friend who's gentle, considerate, and supportive of anything you could ever set your mind to, but your friendship will require a lot of work if it's reaching anything past surface level.

𓆃 Because, make no mistake, Izuku is a very good friend, but your relationship will either always be surface level or he'll become one of your very best friends for your lifetime.

𓆃 It's very easy to befriend Izuku in the first place. It takes less than one meaningful interaction to put you on his radar, and especially in group settings, time spent together doing activities is enough to naturally draw you close.

𓆃 Even if you weren't necessarily Izuku's friend in the first place, if Iida invites you both to his place for studying one week and Ochako invites everyone out to BBQ the next week, you're basically friends by proxy.

𓆃 Because Izuku doesn't care too much about the barrier between classmate/acquaintance and being friends. He'll most definitely care if you care, but that certainly doesn't stop him from awkwardly raving about your quirk or costume or other notable trait that's unique to you.

𓆃 Social anxiety be damned; he's curious!

𓆃 It also doesn't hurt that he's extremely easy to match energies with.

𓆃 And that's one of the most endearing parts of having Izuku as a friend, especially if you also have niche hobbies or special interests. Izuku is always eager to learn and spend meaningful social time.

𓆃 The hour doesn't matter; Izuku is always down to sit for any length of time in the common area at odd hours to chat or just share space.

𓆃 He's also surprisingly down for most anything short of criminal activity or rule breaking. Although, it does take some convincing.

𓆃 You and the rest of your friend group will want to grab fast food at an odd hour and it takes at least a half hour of warming Izuku up to the idea and talk him out of sticking too strictly to his sleep routine.

𓆃 The key is that you have to drop hints about it throughout the day to warm him up. You have the best record by far when it comes to convincing Izuku to take spontaneous trips or do spontaneous projects.

𓆃 (You convinced him to do a snack run in 5 minutes flat.)

𓆃 One fantastic thing about Izuku is that he never makes you feel like you're bothering him and always makes it abundantly clear that he wants to spend time with you no matter how mundane the activity is.

𓆃 He loves running errands to the point that somethings he'll run errands for you... and this is where you might run into some issues.

𓆃 For all of his overthinking, Izuku sure likes to assume. He likes to assume your needs; he likes to assume when conversations are over (even if you're bringing something serious up to him and you really need to talk it all the way through); and most egregiously, he often assumes your feelings.

𓆃 Izuku reads into everything, and there are times when the amount of reassurance he needs is excessive. And the worst of it is that he won't even ask if you're mad or annoyed or whatever negative emotion he's afraid of you having.

𓆃 He'll just be avoiding you for a few days and it's up to you to ask if anything is wrong with him.

𓆃 Or the times he comes to you, his way of asking can be presumptuous and sometimes even insulting.

𓆃 "I know you were outperformed by Komori in the last match-ups, and you're super angry— I mean, it's no wonder because, with her new support items, the matchup was super one-sided from the beginning, so I understand why you're feeling really useless and weak right now..." and he'll say all that without you having even said a word.

𓆃 This can inadvertently turn things that are occupying your brain space into issues with him. He'll express regret that he didn't help you more with your strategy— even if you didn't even ask him for help in the first place— and suddenly the conversation about feeling bummed about your loss has turned into comforting Izuku.

𓆃 And any kind of direct conversation leads to him trying to overcompensate. No matter how calm or peaceful you are in bringing up issues between the two of you, you can almost certainly count on him saying, "I'll never do it ever again," "I can't believe I've been such a bad friend," and "You don't deserve to have to deal with someone like me."

𓆃 While he's not trying to be manipulative, his words most definitely come off as such. And it comes from an inability to take things he's done wrong in stride.

𓆃 And this isn't to mention if you do something that bothers him. He'll ignore that and plan on taking it to his grave, not realizing that there's been an awkward resentment or tension building up that will inevitably burst.

𓆃 Although, make no mistake, Izuku isn't some passive guy who will take the hits as they come without a word. If he's not passive-aggressive in his anger toward you, he's not afraid to let everything he's been stewing in explode on you all at once, and those unfiltered thoughts can be nasty.

𓆃 For someone so well-spoken in most other parts of his life, Izuku doesn't know how to split the different between passive-aggressive avoidance and direct, emotional sputtering when it comes to his interpersonal conflict communication.

𓆃 The moment emotions get tied up in everything is the moment Izuku implodes.

𓆃 He'll never tell you that he felt left out of something or that something you've been saying has been rubbing him the wrong way, but he expects you to pick up on that without ever mentioning it to you.

𓆃 Depending on the level of issues you have with each other, you're going to have one serious conversation that makes or breaks your entire friendship. Because for how skittish and people-pleasing Midoriya is, he's surprisingly high maintenance.

𓆃 He expects, on some level, that everyone thinks like he does and is as thorough as he is. Izuku doesn't like having direct conversations about issues, so he doesn't until it's too late.

𓆃 And truly, isn't that how it goes when direct communication isn't within your wheelhouse?

𓆃 That's your main obstacle because it's truly bound to happen. But if you care about each other enough and choose to listen with open hearts and minds, you'll have made a friend for life.

synopsis: this is about what a relationship would look like between a witch and the future king of godor, this takes place before the events of lotr. also just for story sake, the kind of witchcraft is mainly healing and potions. this is in the “how, when, what, where and why” style of head cannons

warnings: none! it is written with the reader being a female in mind but the only direct reference to that is the word “woman” being used, otherwise it could be considered gn

How you met:

The ranger was out wandering the lands as he usually was, however he strayed particularly far this time and was a while away from the safety of the settlements of his people. A particularly strong storm fell that day, he remembered seeing your cottage as he ventured through the forest and decided to test his luck there to shelter himself from the rain.

He was welcomed, but you kept a close eye on him. You started up the fire at the fireplace for him to dry off, offering him towels and a change of clothes. He was shivering, so you offered him tea. Once he drank it he felt his body warm up, he could tell there was something special about it, which is when you revealed to him that your a witch and that the tea was a special tea that warms up the cold.

You told him about your practices and showed him out the window all the rare and valuable plants you grow for your potions, as well as the delicious and flavourful vegetables. He took interest in your vast book collection and knowledge. He was fascinated and you quickly became friends. Before parting ways you gave him a gift of some healing creams which speeds up the natural healing process, as well as giving him a protection jar.

When he realised he fell in love, where he confessed and why he realised:

He started visiting more and more as time went on, your hospitality, sweet nature and wisdom drew him in from the beginning, but as he got to know you more the charm and quirks of your personality made him become enamoured with you. He helped you with small tasks such as tidying up and helping you harvest your garden. Even going on fetch quests for things you needed from far off places. He would speak of you a lot to the people back at home and those he met on his journeys, talking about how caring and beautiful you were, even remarking that you’re an “incredible woman”

He realised it was love when he got particularly injured fighting orcs and came to you for help. As he watched you care for him, even with your snide but playful comments, he could only stare at you as you fussed over him, healing his wounds with ease, bandaging the particularly bad ones and effortlessly sewing the holes in his clothes while he was still wearing them.

“You really can be careless can’t you?” You tease as you put everything away after finishing. He suddenly stood up, taking both of your hands “Will you marry me?”

For once in your life you was left speechless for a moment, “You haven’t even courted me yet, Aragorn.” You chuckle. He is completely serious however, “I do not wish to continue for another moment without knowing that you are mine” is something that he said during the conversation.

What it’s like being in a relationship with him:

He’s extremely loyal and caring, he’s also extremely thoughtful. He always brings back gifts from places he’s visited, books, materials, seeds, cool looking bottles are just a few things he’s brought back for you. He’s a very mature lover and always makes you a priority, second only to his duties and promises. He is also extremely understanding and compassionate, making him perfect to go to when you need comfort.

He kisses you a lot, especially the top of your head and hands. Kissing is really the only PDA he’s comfortable with. Otherwise everything else is behind closed doors, he’s not usually the one to initiate cuddles but he happily partakes in them whenever you want to. His main love language is words of affirmation, that’s what he’s best at giving and what he likes to receive the most. But as he knows, all healthy relationships need a balance of both, so he shows all of them to you, especially the ones you prefer.

“This the girl you’re trying to set me up with this time?”

Your expression falters, but it’s fine because the way his voice just sounded can forgive the disrespect he just rendered for referring to you without even sparing you a greeting. It’s a raspy flavor, almost a mumble in his throat. One offense— you can take it for now. If he can behave for the next hour or so and prove the rumors wrong, you might actually grace your dad with approval that you’re going to give this a shot.

His mother lights up, giving him your name and a brief introduction.

“Hi. Nice to meet you,” you smile. Jaemin’s eyes stay on you for a good five seconds. This is dangerous. He shouldn’t be allowed to do that.

Heat swirls around your cheekbones, giddy from the prospect of your love life finally flourishing after all those failed matchups. If only Jaemin decided to shut up for the rest of the night, then maybe the heat in your cheeks wouldn’t have shot up into your head and triggered a nerve.

“She’s pretty cute,” he says, and you’re almost hopeful. “But I doubt she can handle me. I’m going. Don’t wait for me to come home.”

Your smile twitches. Oh. Oh, so he’s like that.

His mother tries to stop him, but Jaemin is already up, not caring about the collateral damage of clattering plates and glasses on the table from his careless movements. 

There’s no way you’re gonna let him leave like this after injuring your ego like that.

“What makes you think I can’t?”

Jaemin freezes, his back turned towards you but his neck slowly cranes, revealing the side profile of his face. His eyes are narrow when he looks at you. There’s a subtle quirk of his lips. He breaks into a scoff. “What makes you think that you can?”

God damn, if only he didn’t start acting up, you would be on your knees.

“I don’t know. You look pretty easy.”

Something tugs on the corners of his mouth, then he fully turns around, walking back up to the table. He plasters his hands on the tablecloth, slightly leaning forward that his head blocks the chandelier light and his shadow hovers over your face. “Free tomorrow?”

“I can make time.”

“Great.”

Jaemin leaves behind a choking, arid tension when he exits the booth. You look at your father who seems like he can’t choose between feeling horrifically alarmed or pleasantly surprised. Clearing your throat, you take another sip from your drink before resuming your meal. You’re sure you’re going to get indigestion, but you can’t think of another way to get your parents and his to move on from the events that just transpired.

Eventually, the tension was swallowed by the clatters of knives and sauces and conversations once again. The only conclusion you can come up with is that this time, their matchmaking failed successfully.

Tumblr Dr. Who Poll vs Doctor Who Magazine Poll

It's been just over a month since the end of @adventure-showdown 's monumental survey of how Tumblr feels about individual Doctor Who adventures. Across ten rounds, we sorted the wheat from the chaff, the Quarks from the Rills, and the Cousins from the Looms. I wanted to compare the results of that huge bracket with the results from last year's Doctor Who Magazine poll, which ranked each Doctor's stories individually.

The methodologies for these two were quite different (though adventure-showdown did seed the bracket with a pre-poll that used the same methodology as DWM, but I'm looking at the final poll results for my data here), so comparing them is really interesting! I'm not a statistician, I just like making spreadsheets for fun. I think what can be seen from the trends and data below is a really unique picture of two somewhat overlapping but seriously demographically distinct fragments of the fandom.

Methodologies

Poll Methodologies

The DWM poll asked readers to rank as many televised Doctor Who stories as they liked from 1 to 10. The editors then took the resulting scores for each story and put them in a ranked list for each Doctor.

adventure-showdown began with a series of Google Forms with the same method as DWM, asking internet users to rank stories from 1 to 10. adventure-showdown lumped and split stories differently to DWM: The Key to Time was included as a distinct Four story to each of its individual parts, and each of the individual parts of Trial of a Time Lord and Flux were included alongside the overarching story. Utopia was also split from The Sound of Drums/The Last of the Time Lords.

adventure-showdown used the resulting rankings to create a series of Tumblr polls, moving from a group stage into a series of head-to-head matchups. They matched stories up roughly by obscurity (keeping advertisements and musical numbers separate from audio dramas and comics, which were separate from TV spin-offs, which were separate from the TV show itself), then Doctor or era. With each new round, the matchups were scrambled within melded groups, which ultimately led to a diverse distribution of all different eras and media under the umbrella of Doctor Who throughout the tournament.

My Methodology

In order to turn adventure-showdown's poll results into something that can be compared to DWM's, I created a spreadsheet tracking how each Doctor's stories were doing, separating them first into tiers according to which round they were eliminated in, then within those tiers by how many votes they had in the matchup where they were eliminated.

In the case of some particularly tough matchups, this means that the story that got the most points throughout the entire competition is not necessarily the highest-ranked story for that Doctor. For instance, The Happiness Patrol finished #3 of the Seventh Doctor's stories according to my reckoning of the Tumblr poll, being eliminated in the fifth round with 400 votes, less than the two stories above it (which were eliminated in rounds where they got 147 and 107 votes, respectively). The Happiness Patrol saw a vigorous campaign to increase its vote count, since it was up against Blink. The post for the matchup that eliminated it currently has 304 notes as of this writing. This is one of the fun quirks of this execrise.

General Trends

Where We Agree

The Ninth Doctor shows very stable story rankings between DWM and Tumblr.

On average, the difference in rankings for each episode of 9 is 5%, with only 2 out of 10 stories actually moving up or down the rankings at all. The Sixth Doctor is similar: only 3 of his 8 stories (included in the DWM poll, meaning not counting the individual parts of Trial) moved by more than 1 ranking. The Seventh Doctor only had 4 of his 12 stories move by more than 1 ranking.

On the flipside, Tumblr's opinions differ from DWM most regarding the First, Fifth, and Eleventh Doctors. The only stories that stayed relatively stable across both rankings for these Doctors are as follows.

For the First Doctor, only 4 out of 29 didn't shift by more than 1 ranking: #2 The Time Meddler, #5 The Tenth Planet (#6 in DWM), #18 The Keys of Marinus, and #20 The Reign of Terror (#19 in DWM) For the Fifth Doctor, we agreed only 5 times out of 20: #1 The Caves of Androzani, #2 The Five Doctors (#3 in DWM), #11 Frontios, #14 Black Orchid, and #17 Arc of Infinity (#16 in DWM) For Eleven, 5 of his 39 stories stayed relatively stable: #1 Vincent and the Doctor (#2 in DWM), #4 The Eleventh Hour (#3 in DWM), #9 Amy's Choice, #14 The Snowmen (#13 in DWM), and #39 The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe.

As you'll see further below, there is usually agreement between both polls about at least one episode that is in the top and bottom 3 or 4 for each Doctor, so these extremes represent the battle over ordering the ones generally ranked in the middle.

We Hate Daleks

As a general trend, Tumblr seems to think less of Dalek stories than the general DWM readership.

Out of 26 stories with Daleks as the primary antagonist, only 8 did not drop by more than 1 slot between the DWM poll and the Tumblr bracket (that is The Chase, Genesis of the Daleks, Remembrance of the Daleks, Dalek, Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways, Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks, The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar, and Eve of the Daleks). DIM/Evolution actually ranked 3 slots higher on Tumblr than the magazine, while TMA/TWF and Eve finished significantly higher on Tumblr than in the magazine, cracking into the top 5 for their respective Doctors.

We Love The Master

Meanwhile, out of 26 stories featuring the Master, either as the primary antagonist or as an important character, only two dropped by more than one place in the rankings (The End of Time and The Power of the Doctor), while the others either stayed put or increased their positions, some by quite a lot (e.g. The Time Monster (up 20 slots in the Third Doctor rankings), The Keeper of Traken (up 8 slots in the Fourth Doctor rankings), Planet of Fire (up 6 spots in the Fifth Doctor rankings), and The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar (up 9 spots in the Twelfth Doctor rankings)).

We Have No Easily Observable Feelings About the Cybermen

Out of 18 Cyberman stories, 9 fell in the rankings between DWM and Tumblr, while 5 stayed within 1 rank of the DWM poll, and 4 rose. If I had to venture a hypothesis based on my unscientific qualitative analysis, it looks like Tumblr marked down most of the Classic Who Cyberman stories (only The Tenth Planet, The Invasion, and Attack staying within 1 rank of the DWM poll), while the only ones that rose in the ranks were New Who stories (Rise/The Age of Steel, Closing Time, Nightmare in Silver, and Dark Water/Death in Heaven-- though of course this last one is also a Master story, which we know we love).

Superlatives

Here are the stories that showed the biggest positive and negative difference in their rankings between the DWM poll and the Tumblr bracket, for each Doctor:

Who said that? I thought you had all gone. You shouldn't scare me like that. Well, you see, the Eighth Doctor only has two televised appearances in which he features, and only one of those was included in the DWM poll. This post is about comparing the two polls. I can't really do anything...

Televised Appearances

We ranked The Night of the Doctor above the TV Movie. Night made it all the way to round 6, while the TV Movie was out in Round 2, losing with 266 votes to Jubilee, which then lost to Scherzo in the next round. Night lost to Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways, which had 344 votes to Night's 204.

Audios

Scherzo made it to the quarter-finals of the Tumblr poll! It lost out to Midnight 435 to 581, the first TV episode it encountered in adventure-showdown's very intricate media-segregating bracket.

Caerdroia made it to round 7, losing to Scherzo after it had beaten out Father's Day in round 6 (299-280) and the much-loved SJA episode The Curse of Clyde Langer in round 5.

The Natural History of Fear made it to round 6, finally losing out to Blink (253-352), and making it the top-scoring Eight audio to go out in this round.

The Chimes of Midnight also got to round 6, finally just losing to Remembrance of the Daleks (163-166); in the same round, Zagreus lost to Scherzo (131-210) just after it had beaten Genesis of the Daleks (132-103) in round 5.

The next highest-ranked Eight* audio is Solitaire (a Companion Chronicle, hence the asterisk), which was eliminated in round 5, losing to Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead (180-43).

It's worth noting here, that Doctor Who and the Pirates also made it to round 6, making it the highest-ranked non-Eighth Doctor audio. It lost to City of Death (170-78). The next-highest ranked audios are The Marian Conspiracy (lost in Round 5 to The Wedding of Sarah-Jane Smith), The Holy Terror (lost in Round 5 to The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances), and A Death in the Family (lost in Round 5 to The Natural History of Fear). Novels

The EDA Alien Bodies managed to make it to round 6, finally being eliminated by Turn Left with 145 votes to 264. It had just beaten out Time Crash in the previous round. This makes it the highest-ranked Doctor Who novel overall, according to this Tumblr tournament.

The next-highest novel for the Eighth Doctor was Unnatural History, which was defeated in round 5 by The Chimes of Midnight.

Below that, there were five EDAs eliminated in round 4:

MHA 399 leak reactions

We’re left hanging on All Might vs AFO and I think that’s a good thing. It gives us time for a few more subplots to converge.

I’m loving the AFO mouth vore stuff. We saw that earlier in this arc with him and with TomurAFO:

At the start of the chapter, All Might had referenced all 1-A students except Aoyama, Hagakure, Momo/Creati, Bakugo, Jiro/Earphone Jack, and Mineta. I think we can include Shinsou too. :)

Toshi could also have moves that mimic Izuku’s other quirks like Smokescreen, Float, or some smashes? But I don’t think he’d have equivalents for Gearshift, Fa Jin, or Danger Sense?

I was excited to see what Mouseketool Toshi asked Toodles Anima to go fetch for him. Laser is the answer, and it makes perfect sense. (Btw, if you don’t get that reference then you haven’t been near a toddler in the US in the last decade….or seen this meme):

We switch POV to Aoyama vs Kunieda in the Takoba parking lot (which is near Sero, Ojiro, Sato, and 1-B’s Tsuburaba (Solid Air), since they are inside the arena, I think against Gashly??). I’m not entirely sure how a flower villain is kicking ass when Aoyama has a laser beam quirk but okay! Glad to see Aoyama learning from the licensing exam and letting his quirk go as hard as he could. IIRC, last time Iida had to sit with him and talk him into one last laser blast.

FATGUM. NO!!!! My (other) beefy blondie had better be okay! I mean, it was pretty clear his quirk wouldn’t do well in this matchup, so that part isn’t surprising, but I like him too much for him to have his nutrients sucked out and turned into a flower with his face (?!?!?!?) It’s all the body horror of hanahaki but without the love part or the self-flagellation over whether to confess. Just the pain.

I love how AFO brings literal darkness over Toshinori, only for Toshinori to say “Hey bozo, you forgot that light bends and can be reflected and refracted.” And then we see Aoyama and Hagakure do exactly that before we cut back to Toshinori standing up naked metaphorically in the snow. He doesn’t have to huddle over the OFA fire anymore— it’s not for him to protect by himself at this point in his life. He’s still there stoking the flames, his soul burning in service to others, but he can embrace other kinds of light now too. He’s gonna fire a freakin’ laser beam into the darkness. Like Stain told him:

♤ Kirishima admires you greatly, you were amazing with your quirk and a very strong hero. He takes time to realize that he has fallen in love with you. The two of you started out as friends since Kirishima was such a friendly and outgoing person—it was easy to become friends. It only dawned on him when he started to have the urge to always be with you and how he’s thinking about you all the time. Once he realizes this, he gets embarrassed and shy around you at the littlest things.

♤ Bakugou has a hard time admitting his feelings but he's not dumb, just having trouble accepting it. Honestly, he absolutely hates the way you're making him feel. And of course, his more natural response was to be mad and upset with you. He stares at you, a lot, to the point it concerns you. When you confront him, he gets very defensive and denies it. Takes forever but eventually comes to terms with his feelings.

♤ They both somehow know that the other has a crush on you and it gets pretty awkward because neither confronts the other about it. Kirishima notices it when Bakugou seemed significantly nicer to you compared with most people. Bakugou notices that Kirishima is constantly talking to you, and sees that he's significantly happier whenever you're around. They don't try to talk to the other about the predicament and kinda just let it be.

♤ But at some point, Bakugou lost his patience because he had to keep quiet about the situation for so long. He considers Kirishima as a good friend and confronted him about the whole situation. It wasn't a pleasant topic to discuss but they both surprisingly bonded over discussing you. They both agreed to let you decide on who you want to date and that they will remain as friends afterward because they value their friendships as well as your happiness.

♤ It was you who brought up the idea of being in a poly relationship. You expressed how you loved them both equally and really did not want to be the reason for the end of the friendship—even though they assured you that they were fine with you choosing one of them. It starts off a bit awkward because neither Kirishima or Bakugou knows what to do in a three-way relationship. Luckily, you always manage to make them both included in things.

♤ You always make sure that you have dates with both of them, you involve them in everything going on in your life. And they're very grateful that you're making this easier for them. They both love it when you hold both of their hands during a date. The two of them are protective over you despite knowing the fact that you could probably kick their asses. Overall, you and the boys are inseparable and love each other very much.

Hello Anon! Thank you so much for sending in your request and choosing me as the first person you sent a request to! Sorry it took a while to finish! I've been swamped by matchup requests lately (something I'm certainly not complaining about). I hope you like your headcanons!

I don't see Mirko as someone who seeks the feeling of peace a whole lot. Even though she has her unsatiable desire to fight, she's happy with herself.

Still, she appreciates the sense of peace her s/o's powers bring whenever she's around them.

She doesn't really know if her s/o's powers cause them to feel emotional pain themselves. She's asked a few times but her s/o's assurances that it's fine do little to ease her concerns.

Mirko is definitely one to do little things to make sure her s/o gets moments of peace as well. It can be stressful having heroes and villains constantly seeking you out just to get a taste of peace.

As long as her s/o says it's okay, Mirko won't have a problem with people approaching them asking for a hit of peace. If too many people approach her s/o or her s/o seems uncomfortable thought, it's a different issue.

Her main priority is always going to be the wellbeing of her s/o.

And if a villain kidnaps her s/o? Mirko's on a one woman mission to get them back.

Definitely craves peace. After everything he's been through, he needs some time to just relax.

Obviously this could go down a yandere path, but I'd rather go with the scenario where Dabi's s/o chose to be with him.

He feels so honoured that them chose him of all people to be with. Yes, the powers are a nice side effect, but Dabi's convinced his s/o's presence alone, powers or not, brings him a sense of comfort unlike any other.

Definitely protective of his s/o. It's not that he doesn't want others to feel peace. He couldn't care less about that! He's just worried that his s/o is going to leave him.

Doesn't matter if it's a hero or another villain that tries to take his s/o away from him, he's fighting for their freedom like his life depends on it.

He loves coming back to his s/o after a long day. Getting to spend time with the person he loves, and getting the benefit of their quirk easing all of his aches, pains, and worries is the best part of his day.

This guy is somewhere in between Mirko and Dabi.

Some days, he's completely fine. These are the days when he's more worried about his s/o's mental health than anything else.

Other days, his hero work gets too much and he just needs to destress. That's not to say Hawks doesn't still care about his s/o! He really does. He's just so tired.

Protective of his s/o, but no more than other heroes in committed relationships. If his s/o gets kidnapped, by either a villain or a hero goes rogue, he'll obviously get them back.

But he's not rushing in headfirst like Mirko would. He's been working on undercover cases for too long to do that. He'll infiltrate wherever his s/o's being held and break them out with as few casualties as possible.

Hawks doesn't want his s/o to carry any guilt about people getting hurt because of their powers. It also gives him a chance to isolate the person who kidnapped his s/o later and find out exactly why they did it. They'll be brought to justice. But he's doing it his way.

A side effect of his s/o's powers on Hawks is that when he gets relaxed, his feather fluff up. If he's really relaxed, he might make soft cooing noises. Just don't mention it. He gets embarrassed.

Doesn't necessarily think about the benefits of her s/o's quirk at first, but the first time she gets a hit of peace, she knows she needs more.

Gets addicted quickly to the feeling of peace. Izuku Midoriya? Who's he? The only person she has eyes for is her new s/o!

Another one who could really easily go down the yandere path.

Assuming her s/o chose to be with her though? She's the happies person in the world! Sometimes when she's under the power of her s/o's quirk and her racing mind is slowed, she wonders why her s/o chose her.

Her s/o's quirk dulls the urge to draw blood, maim, and kill, so Toga can't tell whether she completely likes it or not. She's gotten so used to the urges that without them, she almost doesn't feel like herself.

But her s/o is happy that they can do something to help her relax and Toga loves the floating feeling her s/o's quirk gives her so she's happy to keep hanging around them.

Has this man ever felt peace in his life? Probably not.

So when he first gets a hit of his s/o's quirk? Endeavour probably crumples to the ground. He's not entirely sure why his legs have just stopped working or why his shoulders feel so miraculously relaxed but he does know it's a feeling he could get used to.

I feel like some small part of Endeavour (especially in the more recent part of My Hero Academia) feels like he shouldn't be allowed to relax.

It's more than he deserves after everything he's put his family through.

So he probably wouldn't use his s/o's powers that much. Then again, he can't exactly stop them from using them if and when they chose.

If his s/o got kidnapped, he's assembling a team to take them down. Yes, he's one of the highest ranking heroes in Japan. Yes, he could take out the hero or villain who kidnapped his s/o by himself.

But he lives in the public eye. If everyone found out how much he cares about his s/o, more people would be coming after them.

He doesn't want to put his s/o in any more danger than they need to be.

Has forgotten what peace feels like honestly. He's been keeping up his persona of All Might for so long that he doesn't remember what it's like to just relax.

So incredibly grateful to his s/o! Anything they want, he's on it. Back rubs? Those muscles can be put to use for something other than fighting villains! A snack from their favourite café? He's pretty fast, he'll be back before his s/o knows it!

He feels it's the least he can do.

Unlike Endeavour, All Might has no worries about rushing in to protect or rescue his s/o. He knows that most of Japan probably knows about his relationship so there's no point in trying to hide how much he cares.

Might sneak into wherever his s/o's hiding in his weak form before breaking them out as "All Might".

He does have to be careful though. His s/o's powers revert him back to his weak form in an instant so they have to be very careful about when and where they use them.

his name is LITERALLY a play on the japanese equivalent of the phrase "just some guy". he is DESIGNED to be a generic-ass dude. everything about him is comically average.

Mikado Ryuugamine

Reasons:

Short black hair and grey eyes. The sheer difference in coolness between his name and his appearance is often pointed out by other characters. He is well aware. By far, the most normal looking drr character with no particular outstanding design quirk. Even the author's editor thought the series could be a rom-com centered on Mikado. The author questioned if everyone forgot that the protagonist is actually the headless black clad biker lady. He is just that average. (this is mentioned in the third light novel's afterword.)

Very plain looking boy. Short, straight black hair and dark eyes. Not especially tall or short, he's just below average. In a world where supernatural beings and super strength exist, he doesn't have anything going for him strength wise. People see him and don't really think anything of him. Now, I wouldn't exactly describe him as "normal" but that isn't related to his looks or physical abilities (also kinda spoilers, I'd recommend watching the show). Pretty normal hobbies too, like online forums, surfing the internet and hanging out with his friends.

Propaganda:

He is KEENLY aware of how Normal he is and he hates it because he's bored. he'd be so normal if he wasn't secretly insane. at one point he stabs himself with a ballpoint pen just to intimidate a gang. But he still looks so normal when he's masterminding gang violence. If you only watch the first season of the anime he will REMAIN normal to you and just seem like a very typical shonen protagonist with some power of (internet) friendship but as soon as you get into season 2 or volume 4 of the novels you will quickly see Mikado's descent into madness because he's just an adrenaline junkie. I want to study him like a bug. At one point he aquires a gun and it's horrible for everybody.

Which teams and matchups would you have wanted to see in the Joint Training Arc?

I assume you mean whole teams and not individual, one on one match ups that could be interesting. The thing is though that there are a lot of characters and potential pairings. So for the sake of this, I'm only sticking to one matchup of eight students. And for this, I won't cover any matchups I talked about before, like Mina and Kamakiri.

So to me, my prefered match up would be Ibara, Manga, Awase, and Reiko versus Shoji, Momo, Kirishima, and Mina. And while I will talk about these like they are one on ones, there'd still be plrenty of crossover between the fighters. Like Reiko could get Awase to combine items, Momo could equip Shoji with new weapons, Mina could melt through what letters Manga makes, and so on and so forth.

Awase vs Kirishima: While I could think that you could stick Kirishima with a more direct fighter like Rin, Ken, or Kamakiri but I went with Awase because it's a different kind of fight for Kirishima. Kirishima could be up Awase, but that'd easily play into Awase's hands, piling on more and more items onto Kirishima. Inversely, Kirishima could use all that extra weight to smash straight into Awase.

Mina vs Reiko: I know these two fought in the original series, but I think that the dynamic could be interesting, both against each other and as characters. We've got the extroverted alien girl and the introverted ghost girl, but their powers clash as well. Reiko has a lot more range and control over so many small items, but Mina can erode away at anything Reiko tries to throw at her. It give Reiko a chance to shine and Mina a chance to show off more of her power.

Shoji vs Ibara: Ibara can spread her vines out over a wide range, able to constrict Shoji's mobility and ability to see stuff around him. On the other hand, Shoji can easily tear through whatever vines are around him with his greater strength, even as they keep coming all around him. And the holier-than-thou Ibara fighting against the monstrous, down-to-earth Shoji? It just writes itself, even giving the chance to explore Shoji before the Final War Arc.

Manga vs Momo: "Comic" is one of the most varied and interesting Quirks among any of the classes and it's a crime that Hori barely did anything with it. So pairing him up against Momo could give it a chance to shine. Not only could he fill a similar role to her, acting as support in interesting ways, but give Momo a real challenge with own abilities given the scale and power of what he can output. It'd almost be like the mythical shapeshifter battles, with each fighter constantly pulling out new forms to counter one another.

You share a look with the shieldmaiden one day in the houses of healing, both of you having been tasked with caring for others with varying degrees of satisfaction. In her beautiful blue eyes you can see that this place is like a blade to her wings. You enjoy caring for others, have no problem forcing them back down or even wrestling with them if they fight against your tasks. Exchanging a quirk of brows after one such patient, you look away with a smile- something about this woman sticks in your heart.

She asks for your name after your joint shift, introduces herself as Eowyn. You give her yours, ask her why she hides herself away so. She was bidden to, you learn. In her heart she desires to fight alongside the brave men of her country, to put to use her years of training with a sword and shield. “We all have cause to go to war,” she tells you, eyes blazing, and you nod your agreement. Happy as a healer though you are, you know the role is a bit expected of you- women are carers, waiting to clean up after the follies and glories of men. They know their blades only as a final resort. “I hope you take your chance,” you tell her at the conversation’s end, and again the smile you exchange catches on your heart in a way unlike you have ever felt.

Wailing urgency, a captain bursts in with a stretcher. The greatest war yet has been waged, armies of mercenaries and undead alike joining the fray and piling up more and more unfortunate fallen. This case seems to have the captain feeling particularly distressed, however, enough that you rise from the broken arm you’ve just set to see what he’s brought. Eowyn. You smile in spite of her feeble state, pride swelling in your chest that she did, in fact, seize her opportunity. Her wounds are like nothing you have ever seen before, though- she will need close care. Nodding at the captain, who you quickly realize is her brother, you got to work, kneeling by her side to clean her and get her more comfortable.

Days pass. Eowyn’s condition improves, hints of color returning to her cheeks and burns upon her arm fading. You smile down at her peaceful expression as you work, nearly starting when her eyelids flutter open.

“You have been proven again and again, honored beyond honor,” you tell her, “you are a true warrior of Rohan, Eowyn- never again shall they doubt you.”

“And you never left my side,” she breathes.

“No,” you shook your head, “never.”

Perhaps you should be surprised by the kiss, but all you feel beneath the roar of your heart is a surge of pride. Admiration. That stick in your heart once more. Eowyn is unafraid to claim what she wants, and what a beautiful rush it is.

Deku: Both were born as starry-eyed kids in a world populated with powerful people with unique powers and abilities as one of a few people who do not possess one themselves, driven by their affection for a faction that represented their world (Ultimate's and Heroes). Both wished to have powers of their own but are driven by different motives (While Hajime's motives were rather selfish, wanting to become someone that mattered, Izuku wanted to become a Pro Hero to help people with a smile). Both would be given the chance to receive these abilities, along with a title they would inherit with a similar "Hope" theme ("The Ultimate Hope" and "The Symbol of Hope") from some of the most important people in their world that they greatly admired (For Hajime, it was Hope's Peak Academy, a school he attended as a Reserve Course student that he looked up to since he was a kid, and for Deku, it was All Might, the Number 1 Pro Hero and his idol). The power they inherited is among the greatest power in their worlds, and permits them to use various powers and abilities from other individuals (The Ultimate Hope Talent, which bestows upon Hajime every known Ultimate Talent in history, and One for All, which bestows upon Deku the power and quirks of previous users.) Both would attend a school full of individuals with similar capabilities (Hope's Peak and U.A.) and for contrasting reasons, this led to them taking on different identities (Hajime's personality and individuality was erased by the researchers that gave him his talents, becoming Izuru Kamukura, and Izuku Midoriya adopted the Hero Name of Deku to represent his own individuality and what he stands for). At their best, both characters are selfless heroes who are admired and looked up to by their classmates and best friends (Class 77 and Class 1-A respectively), who include a jealous rival (Nagito and Bakugou), a love interest (Mahiru and Ochako), and their best friend who always looks out for them (Chiaki and Iida). Though fundamentally similar heroes, their tales, however, are not the same; Hajime's is of a fallen hero, whereas Izuku's is of a rising hero.

Sunny: Both characters are the seemingly depressed main characters of their respective video games, which largely take place within a realm separate from that of the normal human world (Danganronpa 2 takes place inside a virtual reality, and over half of Omori is spent within Sunny's Headspace, a world made of the machinations of his mind) Both realms also exist as a coping mechanism for each character's trauma (Hajime/Izuru was placed into the Neo World to restore his original personality after he and his friends were brainwashed into being Remnant's of Despair, and Headspace serves as Sunny's "Happy Place" which he closes himself inside to cope with the death of his sister Mari) but both realms came under threat of a demonic force that threatened to take it over (Monokuma/AI Junko and the "Something"). Both characters suffer from experiencing the traumatic death of the person they loved the most, which was inadvertently caused by them (As Izuru, Hajime worked with Junko to mastermind the original Chiaki Nanami's death, and Sunny accidentally killed Mari during an argument where he pushed her down a flight of stairs) and through different means, both developed a second blank-faced and soulless personality from this trauma that existed purely in their minds, which one way or another, threatened to take over, though by different means and motives (Izuru Kamukura was born when Hope's Peak wiped Hajime's personality away after giving him infinite Ultimate Talents, and then remained as a spiritual figure inside Hajime's mind until Hajime was almost killed during a fight with Nagito, and Izuru automatically took over. Sunny has Omori, which is the manifestation of himself inside Headspace, and threatened to take over Sunny in the real world, inviting unimaginable horrors into the poor boy's mind until Sunny confronted his trauma and defeated him). Said alter-ego's also have contrasting relationships with their dominant personalities (Hajime and Izuru are shown to be quite chummy, and in spite of Izuru's lack of personality and emotional attachment, he does seem to hold Hajime in high-regard. Omori however, represents the side of Sunny that closes him off from the outside world, the "killer" he believes he is, and basically represents all of the boys inner demons).

John: Both went to a fundamentally depressing school full of remarkable people, where there is a hierarchy based on the abilities and talents of the students (Hope’s Peak acted as though Talents was the reason why someone matters, and New Bostin views the higher tiered students to be literal Kings and Queens), as two people who lacked these abilities, being given less than flattering nicknames (Talentless and Crippled respectively). As a result, they grew up as resentful and jealous young men until they were given the chance to possess the most potent gift of all; one that enables them to possess enhanced forms of other people's abilities (Hajime became the prime subject for the Izuru Kamukura Project, which granted him access to every talent in the universe, making him superior to all others, while John unlocked the power of Aura Manipulation, a power that allowed him to sense other people's powers and fighting capabilities, as well as duplicate them and amplify said powers.) But as a result of being the top dog, getting these would make them go down darker paths, and as a result, they would lose not just their former selves but also any close friends they may have had, becoming the opposites of what they once wanted to be (Hajime would transform into Izuru Kamukura, the Ultimate Despair, who contributed to the Tragedy by upsetting the stability of life at Hope's Peak and ultimately causing the death of Hajime's closest friend, Chiaki Nanami; while John would turn into a ruthless tyrant seeking vengeance on those who had bullied him and his friends, eventually becoming a bully himself and losing his friendship with Claire and Adrion.) Eventually, both would conquer their pasts, even though hints of their original personalities remained (Izuru remained as a fragment of Hajime's mind and John retained some of his savagery and violence) but were saved by new friends who helped them come to terms with themselves (Chiaki for Hajime and Seraphina for John).

Min-su: Though starting out as notably kind and thoughtful people, a great tragedy turned both of them into fallen heroes and the deadliest villains known to man (Hajime took part in Hopes Peak Academy's Hope Cultivation Plan following the death of his fellow Reserve Course students that the academy completely ignored because of their lack of talents, with the intention of developing his talents; but Izuru Kamukura, a more cynical character, was born to host his body. Min-Su is an Isekai hero who returns from another world only to confront the somber reality of losing his family and being rejected by society as a pitiful nobody). Even though each of them was given their powers with the intention of using them to save and bring hope to their own worlds, once they turned evil, they started abusing and unleashing their abilities to cause the world to descend into complete misery. They are both the de facto leaders of a group of people in a similar situation as them (the Brainwashed Class 77-B and the 9-Heroes) and both have also waged war against the entire world with the sole intent of plunging it into pure Despair. At one point or another, both were battling a group of resistances that pushed them to stop trying to build a utopia centered around despair and free the world (The Future Foundation; the Restoration Government and the Resistance Heroes.) The difference lies in that Hajime eventually overcomes his despair, returns his original personality and joins the hero team, whereas Min-Su only progressively loses his mind more and more as the series goes on.

Infinite: Both signed their lives and what heroism they had away after being tempted by the ultimate power of their universe (Hope and Talent and the Phantom Ruby) which was eventually gifted upon them, or rather infused into them, to use at their leisure by a powerful group of people with a dark underbelly (The Hope's Peak Academy Steering Committee and the Eggman Empire). Both characters snapped and gave up everything, including their old personalities, to undergo said villain's brutal experiments, with the catalyst for their decision being told to their face that they are weak, useless and don't matter in the grand scheme of things (by Juzo Sakakura and Shadow the Hedgehog respectively) and through some coercion and manipulation, the two became the right hand man of the most evil villain in their respective universes (Junko Enoshima and Doctor Eggman), aiding them in bringing complete control and destruction to the entire world, in which they succeeded (Izuru led the Ultimate Despair against the world and helped Junko bring about the Tragedy, and Infinite defeated Sonic, allowing Eggman to conquer the world). Thus becoming the biggest and most powerful threat to the resistance organization that battled against them, including a spiky-haired protagonist (Makoto Naegi and the Future Foundation, and Sonic the Hedgehog and the Resistance). Both characters are also shown to possess a degree of boredom to the world that they let guide their actions (Hajime/Izuru is so powerful, he doesn't have to put effort into most of what he does, taking the excitement out of doing anything, whilst Infinite initially accepted Eggman's offer to join his army because he was bored with the peaceful world as it was) Both at one point possessed a title with the word "Ultimate" in it (Hajime is the "Ultimate Hope" and Infinite was once the "Ultimate Mercenary").

Hey hey! May I please have a male vampire diaries or originals matchup?

Personality: I’m super chill until you mess with someone I care about or I feel overwhelmed. I’m a nerd when it comes to history (I’m a former history teacher), cultures and music. Although I’m not shy or have that much trouble making friends, I’m kind of a loner. To the point that I’ve moved to other countries by myself and often travel alone. I’m pretty adventurous and I’m an ENTP. I also try to stand up for what’s right and try to be understanding of those different from me. I’m pretty chill on the outside despite me having anxiety and I’m generally friendly to everyone which can get me in trouble sometimes when it’s looked at as flirting. I can be really impatient and easily bored when it comes to romance. I’m pretty independent too. I can talk to anyone but I have to recharge and sometimes that can take hours or sometimes days of me being alone. Im also sort of a tomboy. I’ve been told by men before that I have BDE and some have even called me daddy hahah.

Appearance: I’m a 28 year old black woman with locs where half are dyed purple. I sort of have a rockstar style but I also can look like a whimsigoth. I’ve been compared to a fairy as far as my features go since I have high cheekbones, look young for my age, feminine with sharpish features and expressive eyes. I have a really smirky smile as well. I’m also genderfluid and can dress pretty androgynous at times. I also have tattoos and a nose ring.

Interests: I love listening to music, I play bass guitar, love traveling and experiencing other cultures. I also like being in nature, roller skating and crocheting. Depending on the vibe and who I’m with I can be both a partier and a homebody.
