Wizardly quilted bog coat with hood! 8D Because the blanket was so big(king size) I was able to make the hood and pocket with offcuts from the sleeves and top edge, and I still have plenty for adding more pockets later(which I will). Haven’t finished the internal seams yet but that’s okay i can do that later.

Since I used offcuts for the hood and pocket, I was able to use the pillow shams to make an entirely-too-large messenger bag(which i haven’t photographed yet), with a folded strip of blanket for the strap. It will carry my enormous laptop, my laptop accessories including my lap desk thingie, and probably a good bit more comfortably. I, however, will have to try to not fill it up to capacity so that /I/ can carry /it/.

AHAHA. DONE. FINALLY. I've never done so much hand stitching on a non-embroidery sewing project.

I've been sitting around with piles and piles of fabric that are too big to consider scraps and too small for many projects- so I quilted them into a coat! Lining is also squares of fabric that I only had little bits of left.

DOUBLE LAYER OF BATTING.

HAND APPLIQUES.

HAND STITCHED BINDING.

The only visible seams are in the quilting process but there should be none in the garment construction.

I sewed a coat! Everything is made from scratch, sewed from a pattern. The motif on the back is designed and hand sewed by me, and reads “Bass Fiend.” (Which is a nod to my favorite song, Dope Fiend by Acid Bath, and I’m a bassist.)

I’m trying to put together a well lasting wardrobe so I don’t have to rely on corporations for my clothes. I have my patch pants, a vest, a shirt (from scratch as well), and this coat. I’m hoping to knit a sweater and a sweater vest next.

So I've discovered quilt jackets are a thing (thank you @anotherdayforchaosfay) and I am making a list of the ones I want to make so I can remember them later: - absolutely ridiculous scrap jacket - staggered rainbow and black jacket, like that baby quilt top I made recently, with the rainbow on the back of the jacket - shades of one color basic patchwork jacket, probably purple but possibly green - rainbow gradient jacket - plaid flannels! just all the plaid flannels. all of them - stained glass jacket? Idk about that one but maybe
