sirius and lily working together to make a potion that would allow for surgery-less transitions
polyjuice is the base potion that they use, but they add and take away ingredients so that the trans individual would be able to still look similar to their former self while being able to live as their true self

Spell Disasters
Tumblr media
I wish this was cotton candy, but unfortunately these are the remnants of a spell gone bad. And not in the way that it had unforeseen consequences either. These were of spellwork that I was pretty darn proud of. A set of eight coloured galaxy jars, each dedicated to a colour of the original Gilbert Baker pride flag. Pink was for intimacy and connection, red for ancestors, orange for healing, yellow for joy, green for a connection with nature, blue for art and magic, indigo to promote tranquility, and purple for personal empowerment. I made tiny packages with sigils and ingredients and put them in between the layers of cotton wool, coloured distilled water, and glitter.
Tumblr media
They looked so vibrant and fun on my self-love/queer shrine. Unfortunately within a few months the colours went pale and some even turned brown (you can see it in some of the blue bits in the top photo). I don’t know where it went wrong, perhaps the cork didn’t close it off enough. Perhaps it was the colours of the tissue paper or glitters bleeding into the water. In the end it doesn’t matter, it did not look good or healthy anymore. So what’s a witch to do in a situation like this?
Empty out the bottles for re-use, thank the spell remnants for their work and the joy they brought, and start thinking of a new way to cast these spells. Sometimes we think we have a brilliant idea for magic (or art) that we think will be really good but it doesn’t work out. It happens to us all. But us witches are resourceful, and we’ll make new, more powerful workings in the end.

I read a fanfic today that depicted exactly what I want in a relationship— a cuddly ace mega romantic love. it’s something I already knew I wanted (though I’ve never had it) but seeing it portrayed in a story made it feel more possible. yay for the queer magic of fan fiction ❤️

Hey Witchblr! I’m looking for some advice / suggestions.
So I love the term “priestess” in magical practice - but as a transman it kinda makes me dysphoric. And because I was raised Catholic, I don’t like the term priest.
Does anyone know of any non-gendered terms that have a similar feel / connotation?

I convinced my sweet girl to do sex magick with me when she gets back from her vacation, and I can't wait to write down every ritual and session we do in grotesque, sweaty detail.

I've discovered the perfect TTRPG (...almost)
This is the absolute definition of niche but... Ars Magica. Yeah?
The "almost" is the setting, I don't super vibe with it. This means if I ever want to use the game I'm going to have to re-arrange it because a lot of the mechanics are tightly woven into that setting but hey, fun game design project.
It has such a cool magic system though, it gets a bit arcane appropriately (one of the official character sheets has a formulae page lol) BUT this is just a product of how adaptive the magic system is and it's based around the same core concepts so it wouldn't be that overwhelming.
At a basic level it isn't much more complex than level 1 Fighters in 5e D&D though which makes me REALLY want to take a stab at running a magic school campaign with the system at some point. This will require a lot of the mechanics to be broken out into a fun curriculum and some expansion of the Apprenticeship expansion to support gameplay on a slightly tighter timescale which shouldn't be too hard.
I also want to use the system for basically everything though. As I say, outside of the magic the base system isn't that bad complexity wise, it ties into an expansive, complex yet *modular* magic system AND it has an interesting model for wounds and health aside from HP.
The system is meant to be going CC 4.0 pretty soon which is hype because it probably means the release of a clean and unflavoured SRD. I might end up doing smth when that happens...
smth magic school-ey. smth cosmic horror-ey. maybe smth ziney.

my reading list!
a list of physical books i have bought for my craft but haven't gotten around to reading/finishing yet! also, if there's anything here that's Problematic and i'm unaware of, please let me know! i'm newer to the craft so my knowledge base isn't as deep as it could be.
Queering Your Craft: Witchcraft From The Margins - Cassandra Snow - possibly the one i'm looking forward to reading the most! queer magick baby!!
The Cyber Spellbook: Magick in the Virtual World - Sirona Knight & Patricia Telesco - so this is from 2002 so obviously it's Aged, but i have no doubt it has some interesting wisdom to be found from it, seeing as it's from the age of the Early Internet!
Llewellyn's 2022 Witches' Companion: A Guide To Contemporary Living - while this is a big like, almanac-type book, i bought it solely for two words on the back: ritualized cannabis.
Herbal Magic, House Magic, & Moon Magic - Aurora Kane - i got all 3 of these for like $5 at 5 below which is INSANE to me, so even if they're potentially not that great i'll probably get my money's worth anyway, ehe.
Queer Magic: LGBT+ Spirituality And Culture From Around The World - Tomás Prower - obviously as a white queer pagan i cannot reclaim everything this book goes into, but knowing things is neat!
Wicca: A Guide For The Solitary Practitioner - Scott Cunningham - i'm not wiccan myself BUT i've had this book recommended to me by multiple people as a good like, Base for practicing witchcraft
The Witch's Book of Self-Care - Arin Murphy-Hiscock - now this one i've actually started, just haven't finished. very cute, a little twee but some really good self-care tips in there!!
Tarot - Tina Gong - i also got this one from 5 below for like $5. i don't know how much will be in here that i'm not already aware of, but it was a steal so like, why not give it a read, yeah?
Iconic Tarot Decks: The History, Symbolism, and Design of Over 50 Decks - Sarah Bartlett - this one seems super neat, and even if i don't learn anything necessarily new from it (though i suspect i will) i can look at the pretty pics, haha.
and below are a few ebooks i have that i also haven't gotten around to yet, but would like to soon!
FYMA: A Lesser Key to the Appropriation of Jewish Magic & Mysticism - Ezra Rose - this one i'm linking to bc it seems like a FANTASTIC resource. it's only 22 pages, but i just haven't gotten around to it yet, but i really want to!
An Anarchist Free Herbal - herbalistatlarge @ itch.io - another one i haven't gotten around to but looks REALLY good!!
and, finally, a book i don't yet own (either physically or digitally) but would like to!
Cybernomicon - Joshua Free - i saw this one at half-priced books and took a pic but sadly did not buy it, and have not been able to find it anywhere for a decent price since! looks REALLY interesting, the idea of cyber necromancy almost sounds like archiving to me, which i adore the idea of, but i'd obvs have to read the book to find out more...
well, that's it for now! thanks so much for reading this far, if you have, and may your incense keep alight!

Exactly one minute before the promised pickup time, the hospital’s front door swung open and a young man walked in, marching confidently toward me. The sheriff and his deputy straightened and glowered at him but didn’t dare approach. There was no question: he looked every bit a magician.
He was wearing a double-breasted coat with a high collar, tailored pants, and a pair of knee-high boots, all in shades of midnight blue so deep that in the dim light of the lobby, it looked almost black. His dark, wavy hair was shoulder length, and his eyes were the color of ice, neatly matching the silver thread of a single earring hanging from his left ear. He was quite a sight.
“Kieren Belltower?” he asked, sounding both formal and slightly annoyed.

What's one of your favorite books featuring magic? (And don't you dare come here telling me it's the boy wizard.)
I FINALLY read The Fae Keeper by H.E. Edgmon last month and holy shit!! Why did I put off reading it?! It was so good!! I don't want to spoil anything but like there were lots of things I should have seen coming but I didn't and... Ugh. It left me speechless.
If you haven't read The Witch King or The Fae Keeper yet, do yourself a favor and read them!!! There's magic, there's sticking it to fascists, there's mega found family, there's DRAGONS(!!!), and a GODDESS! Please read it!
Day 1 of the @rainbowcrate Spark of Magic June box challenge is a free day ft. a book that fits the theme.

Greetings!
I am a novice witch who's still finding his footing in Witchcraft and Wicca. My influences come from Hermeticism and the Western Esoteric Traditions. I consider myself a Neopagan, and I'm drawn to Alexandrian Wicca.
This blog is less a personal grimoir and more an image board of thoughts, reflections, witch aesthetic and research.
About me
Gay Gemini ♊️ in his thirties. I love being out and about with my husband and two great dogs. I'm a firm believer in self growth and a practitioner of meditation and yoga. Also got a foot/paw in the furry fandom.
Blessed be!
