Are you and Fitz dating? Has Fitzphie happened yet? Have you finally kissed him? Questions along these lines are, unfortunately, quite common for Sophie to receive. Every time, she clenches her fists until her fingernails dig into her palms, and says “We’re not dating, we’re Cognates.”

The response is usually a knowing smile. Sophie wants to scream.

She loves Fitz, she does. She just doesn’t love him like… like that. The way everyone expects her to. She doesn’t love him in the way that Edaline assumes she does when she leaves them alone with a wink, she doesn’t love him in the way that Dex assumes when he scowls and mutters about Wonderboy, she doesn’t love him in the way that Tiergan assumes when one of their friends jokes about Fitzphie and he looks like he wants the floor to swallow him.

She loves him, but she doesn’t love him like a boyfriend. Sophie loves Fitz like a cognate. 

According to Mr. Forkle, the cognate bond is similar to marriage in many ways. She’s alright with that, but she doesn’t want a bond with Fitz that’s similar to marriage in all the other ways. She doesn’t want an actual marriage with him, a matchmaking list and a wedding and a house together and waking up beside him every morning. She likes their cognate rings, but exchanging wedding rings with him would make her sick.

She wants to hold his hands and do cognate training with him, but she doesn’t want to kiss him or share a life with him.

“Is this a date?” Grady asks, when Sophie mentions her plans to get ice cream in Atlantis with Fitz. His eyes narrow with suspicion. “Is Fitz your boyfriend?”

Sophie rolls her eyes and crosses her arms. “He’s not my boyfriend! He’s my cognate .”

They’re cognates. They don’t have to be boyfriend and girlfriend to love and trust each other.

She wishes more people could understand that.

*deep, deep sigh* i have some wips back from my wattpad days. my computer died immediately after writing that sentence so i think that's a sign from above to not talk about those fics lmao (they were super cringe)

my typical process is:

-get a vague idea

-daydream a ton about it and form multiple scenes in my head

-put them in a chronological order

-make sure the brainworms are here to stay, and not just a fleeting what if

-maaaaaybe make an outline but rarely

-'fuck it we ball it's writin time'

3. *goes still* homie. homie please. don't make me count please i'm begging you *strangled noise* fine. fine. for the ask game. we have the wattpad wips i will never look at ever again, so we're not counting those. we have the fic i'm writing (belatedly) for keefitz week, we have the sophitz bookstore fic (which is extremely late), we have the sokeefitz roadtrip fic (which is even later), a photographer!fitz fic idk if i'll ever come back to now that i think about it, a marellinh fic i completely forgot about until just now, a bexamy fic i completely forgot about until just now, a qpr keefex fic i completely forgot about until just now, a keeptober fitz fic i don't think i'll come back to but will incorporate elements of into other fics, dellivvy fic i will revamp eventually, and those are all the ones that i've started. there's a ton more that i'm still in the daydreaming stage of.

4. yes, actually. numerous irl friends know, as well as my family. they're chill :) fun fact: i wrote an among us fanfiction for an english final and got full credit on it earlier this year. some people here know that already, but some don't. very fun thing to share lol

5. ohhhhh my god that is so hard. ok hang on let me open my reread tab group of fics on my phone. ok so we'll pick one that's been a long time go to for me - I'll Be Your Real Tough Cookie, With the Whiskey Breath. i recommend this one to people all the time because oh my god. autistic pansexual keefe. aro fitz with chronic pain. they're dating. the prose is gorgeous. oh my god i love this fic sm <33

Not really? If people in a certain tumblr fandom are annoying, I just don't engage with them. No one on tumblr has turned me away from a fandom as a whole.

Jewish Vackers! I can and will die on the Jewish Vacker hill. Also Finn Foster. For tgl, aroallo Morgan and genderqueer Wolfe (agender or unlabeled, usually uses he/him pronouns since those are the ones he got assigned and he doesn't care too much about pronouns)

Okay so I talked about this a little in aroace Sophie, but I would love to add on!

Fitz loves baking -> Fitz loves cake -> Fitz is ace. Logic.

But really Fitz loves making ace pride flag cakes

You know the cognate rings? They're actually just ace rings.

I think aro rings are also a thing so he has an aro ring as well.

Fitz signed up for the match early on, right? Why? Because Alden is an aphobic asshole.

But anyway Fitz is romance repulsed

And everyone expected him and Sophie to get together?
