Ski Trip
Summary: when the reader agrees to go on the annual ski trip up to the mountains with her boyfriend, Luke, and her friends she expected to go looking at mountains. But what she ends up doing doesn't require much hiking
Pairings: alive!Luke Patterson x reader
Words: 2.4k
Warnings: THIS IS NSFW FOREPLAY SMUT PEOPLE
If any of you have ever had a conversation with me and you read this fic, no you didn't
...........................................
"What are you two doing tomorrow?" Julie asked you.
You rolled into your stomach and propped your head up in your hands. “I’m not sure, but I know what we're doing next weekend, unfortunately.”
That peaked Julie’s interest, you weren’t usually much of a complainer. “Why unfortunately?” she questioned.
“Because I'm going on the Ski trip with him,” you whined. You wanted to spend time with Luke, you just didn't wanna go on the trip.
“Oh my god, you get to go?” she excitedly asked.
“Not helping,” you commented.
Julie smirked. “Sorry not sorry, I’ve been trying to get you to go for the past two years. And the first year, I couldn’t even go,” she pointed out.
“Yeah, so why would I have gone if you and Flynn weren’t even gonna be there?” you asked. As if on cue, Flynn walked down the stairs.
“Heard you guys were talking about me, all good things I hope?” she spoke as she walked down the stairs.
“Always,” you said, somewhat sarcastically.
She motioned for you to scoot over so she could have some space on the couch.
“So, if we’re done talking about me, did I hear someone say something about the ski trip?” Flynn questioned.
Before you could open your mouth Julie was already telling Flynn about how you were coming on the trip.
“You are?” Flynn squealed.
You tried to not get excited from their joy, but it was impossible; they were contagious.
You shyly smiled. “Yes, I’m going.”
“Yayyy!” Flynn yelled. The girl was practically jumping up and down.
“Oh who are you sharing a room with?” Flynn asked.
“Luke and I are,” you answered.
The girls exchanged a look you knew all too well.
“Shut up!” You covered your face with a pillow.
“We didn’t say anything!” they protested in almost complete unison.
You could feel your cheeks burning up. “Yeah, but you thought it,” you argued.
“Well whether we thought it or said it, you’re sharing a room with your boyyyyyyyfriend,” Flynn sang.
“If you guys start sing teasing me, I will leave,” you threatened.
“Don’t you need us to pick out your outfits?” Julie remembered.
“Oh, shit, yeah.”
“So in other words you have no leverage?” Flynn realized.
“I’m your ride home,” you reminded her.
“Outfits it is, but do not think we will be forgetting about this!” Flynn cried as she walked up to your bedroom.
“Whatever Flynn!” you yelled back.
“She’s right you know,” Julie slyly commented.
You just huffed in response.
The two of them did a very good job at helping maximize your california wardrobe for the mountains. Granted you had to go buy a couple things in advance, but overall, you felt confident that you could bear the cold of the mountains.
“Alright, I think you’ll survive,” Flynn proclaimed.
You closed your suitcase, and surprisingly you didn’t even have to sit on it.
“Thank you guys, I really appreciate it.”
“No problem, it was our pleasure, especially since you’re actually coming this year,” Julie said.
You dropped them both back off their houses and they were nice enough to spare you from embarrassing you in the car ride.
...........
You heard someone creeping up behind you as you grabbed your stuff to head to your second class, and as you felt arms wrap around your waist you knew it was Luke.
You turned to face him. “So I was thinking if we get one of the window rooms then we can see the snow when it falls,” he proposed.
Your face lit up. “Wait, it’s gonna snow when we’re up there?” you excitedly asked.
He happily watched your beaming face “I mean that’s what the weather said.”
“Oh my god! I haven’t seen snow since-” you paused, “actually I don’t remember, but it’s been awhile.”
“Well there’s a good chance that’s gonna happen,” he said.
“You know you’re actually required to show up to school for them to allow you to come right?” you teased. Though originally it had been a legitimate concern.
He licked his lips. “I’ve been coming everyday so I could come on this trip,” he defended himself.
“Coming to school and staying in school are two very different things Patterson,” you playfully reminded him.
He leaned in closer and his voice got quieter. “And what’s that?”
You resisted the urge to swallow and pulled away from him. “One is what I’m doing right now, because I need to go to class.”
He pulled his lips tightly before sighing. “You got me there,” he admitted.
“I always do,” you said, as you started walking off. You turned around to see him still standing there, you would be lying if you said it didn’t bring you joy.
“Go to class Luke!” you yelled back at him.
“You got it!” he saluted you and walked the other way.
You playfully rolled your eyes. That boy would be the death of you, but you supposed there were worse ways to go.
That Friday you didn’t have any school since the school board figured it was pointless to send a bunch of kids to school the day before they went on a ski trip. There wasn’t going to be any actual learning anyway. You usually would’ve spent some of the day at Julie’s; which you did, but today it wasn’t in the studio for practice. You figured since she had helped you pack, you could at least keep her company as she packed.
“So who are you sharing a room with?” you asked her, as she sorted through her jeans.
“Me and Flynn just figured we’d share one,” Julie said offhandedly.
You chose to not comment on how she was obviously forcing herself to be casual.
“Ah I see, do you know if Alex and Reg are coming?”
“Yeah, and get this Alex and Willie are sharing a room,” she gossiped.
“I’m calling it right now, they're gonna start dating by the end of the weekend,” you hypothesized.
“I 100% agree.”
The two of you spent the next hour or so just discussing what sort of things you wanted to do while you were there over the weekend, and of course how much Flynn was running around her house frantically changing outfits. You actually were excited about going, not necessarily about the actual trip, and about dealing with certain classmates, but you were looking forward to being with Luke and hanging out with your friends.
For some reason when you woke up the next morning you were a little nervous, you supposed it was because you had never been skiing or snowboarding for that matter.
You got ready pretty minimally considering you were soon to be on a five hour bus ride. None of your family was up yet so when Luke pulled into your driveway you slipped out the door.
“You got everything?” Luke asked.
“Everything except my chill,” you responded with a smile.
“You’re gonna be alright, and you don’t have to do anything there you don’t wanna do, so if you don’t wanna risk a broken leg, then don’t.”
Despite your anxieties, you knew he was still right.
“Thanks Luke.”
“Anything for you.”
When the two of you got to the bus everyone else in your group had already gotten there. You, the rest of the band, Flynn, and Willie had made a plan for the bus.
“We have arrived,” you announced to your friends as you and Luke took your spots.
“And just in time too, people kept trying to take your seats,” Willie reported.
“Thanks for saving them,” Luke responded.
The two of you continued chatting with the rest of your friends until the bus driver instructed everyone to take their seats. The majority of everyone slept on the way up there but you were too anxious to get there to sleep. Instead you watched youtube as Luke napped on your shoulder.
“Luke, Luuuuuuuuuuuke, Luooooooooooooooke,” you spoke. You were trying to wake him up quietly but you were starting to realize that wasn’t going to work.
Luckily Reggie was awake. “Oh he’s a heavy sleeper, that’s not gonna work.”
Reggie basically got himself so he was dangling off both sides of his chair before yelling in his ear.
Luke awakened with a jolt, looking fairly startled.
You weren’t entirely sure whether you should laugh, throw Reggie under the bus, or maybe both.
“What happened?” Luke asked.
“I woke you up,” Reggie answered innocently.
“By yelling in my ear?” Luke groggily questioned.
Reggie quickly tried to backpedal himself out of this situation. “I mean I don’t think the method is relevant, the important thing is that you’re up.”
Luke wasn’t awake enough to deal with the situation at hand. He just chose to lay his head back on your shoulder.
By the time you had made it to the hotel you were ready to collapse. Luke laughed when you flung yourself onto one the beds.
“Should I be worried?” he asked, mostly as a joke.
“No,” you smiled and rubbed your face, “I’m just really tired.”
“You couldn’t sleep on the bus?” he guessed.
“Yeah,” you groaned.
“You know what would help?” he asked.
“Do tell,” you inquired, from your face down position.
“This,” he said, before he jumped on the bed beside you. He curled his warm body around you and pulled you in.
“Better?” he asked.
“Yes,” you responded. You attempted to melt further into him. You laid there in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes.
“Luke we should probably go do things,” you suggested. You attempted to get up but he pulled you back down.
You stayed with him but you turned around so you were facing him. “Luke?”
“Yes, y/n?”
You bit your lip, you had to admit, it was pretty cute. “Are you going to let me get up?” you asked.
He looked into your eyes lovingly. “Well if you’re trying to leave then no.”
“So that would be a no.”
“Well if you look at it that way then yeah,” he admitted with a mischievous smile on his face.
“Luke come o-” the rest of your sentence didn’t quite make it out. Your smart boyfriend decided to use your weak spot on your back against you.
“You wanna go now?” he teased.
“Not necessarily,” you lazily responded.
You could feel your willpower fading as the light stokes up and down your back sent a calm wave of chills through your body. But you knew if you didn’t use your chance now there was a good chance you weren’t getting out of that bed today.
“Luke come on we gotta go,” you whined. It’s not like you weren’t enjoying yourself, you most definitely were, but your friends had to be wondering where the two of you were.
“Alright, alright, fine,” he gave in.
“Can I have a kiss though?” he sweetly pleaded.
You gladly agreed, but you realized his plan of not leaving the room hadn’t quite ended when the kiss started leading down to your jaw.
“Luke you’re not sly,” you laughed.
“Oh is that so?” he asked, as he moved down to your jawline.
You nodded your head.
“Then why aren’t you moving?” he purred.
Okay, so he maybe had a point.
“You can tell me to stop,” he reminded you. He looked into your eyes for any sign of you wanting him to stop and waited.
“Unless of course, you don’t want me to stop?” he asked, with the biggest smirk you had ever seen on his face.
“Not necessarily,” you said, completely avoiding his eye contact.
He crawled over top of you, “What was that princess?” he asked.
You forced yourself to look into those beautiful blue eyes, and that devilish smile. “No, I don’t want you to stop Luke.”
“That’s what I needed to hear.” He bent his head down at your jawline, this time starting on the side of your jaw bone. He sucked at the skin and you bit your cheek down on a moan. He moved down from your neck pressing harder and making it harder for you to control yourself.
“Luke,” you moaned.
“Yes?”
“No marks.”
He smirked. “It’s a little late for that one.”
You rolled your eyes at his antics. “You suck.”
“I don’t think you're exactly in the position to be saying those sort of things,” he warned.
You raised your eyebrows. As if he thought you would back down that easily. “Really?”
He licked his lips and shrugged.
“Make me,” you insisted.
“Bad choice of words,” he threatened. In a second his shirt was off and one of his arms held your’s down and above you.
This time he noticed when you swallowed. “Nervous?” he asked, his lips quirked up.
He might’ve been starting to get to you, but you weren’t going to admit to it. “You wish Patterson,” you tested.
His head dipped down towards your collarbone. He lightly sucked on it and gradually increased his intensity until your body unwillingly gave you away and you gutturally moaned.
He jutted his chin out, the fire in his eyes on stage was nothing in comparison to this. “What about now?”
“Yes, Luke,” you groaned out.
He somehow managed to pull your shirt off with you laying down, and managed to unhook your bra with minimal difficulties.
His mouth softly sucked on the very top of your nipple.
“Fuck,” you moaned.
As he continued sucking at a rapid rate you felt the knot in your stomach twisting further, just as you thought it was going to release Luke stopped.
“How much do you want it?” he asked as he slowly pulled your pants down.
You were not going to give him the satisfaction of begging.
You felt a finger glide across your clit ever so slightly and back and forth he kept going, ever so slowly.
A whimper escaped your lips.
“Beg for me, that’s all you have to do,” he promised. He was most definitely enjoying himself.
He moved back up to your nipples but instead he moved as slow as he could, he was trying to break you.
“Come on princess, you know you want it,” he taunted.
A sole finger swiped down your pussy and your breath hitched.
“Luke please,” you moaned.
“What please? I think it has something to do with fucking you silly,” he hinted. He once again crawled over top of you to be able to see your face. Like a predator stalking prey.
“Please rail the shit out of me Luke,” you whined.
“That was all you had to say princess.”

“         We say we're   friends,  we play   pretend ...      ”                 he says,  shaking his head.  Rubbing absently he searches for the right words,  and each option falling  f l a t.  He instantly regrets not deciding to go a little  bigger  with this.  Music had never failed him before,  why hadn’t he thought this was moment to showcase that?  Admittedly it may have been  too much  if he did,  but at least the words would come   o u t.  Instead his lips remain parted slightly, fingers press deeper into the back of his neck and he remains silent for   several  seconds too long. After a few seconds his eyes   f l i t   to her,  a light pink tinging his cheeks in a barely noticeable   f l u s h   before he glances away and breathes a single laugh.                 “         We   p r e t e n d ...      ”                 he repeats,  as if saying the words again he’ll get the clarity he so  desperately  needs in this moment.  Damn.  He really is  useless  without a guitar.
Flexing his jaw briefly he tilts his head back to look at the ceiling for a moment before he forces himself to meet her eyes again.               “         Fuck me,  this is harder than I thought,      ”          he   m u m b l e s   as he takes in a deep breath before forcing his eyes to lock on Bella’s with a ferocity they so very   rarely   held.                 “         We say we’re friends  ...  We pretend that’s   ALL   we are,      ”                he says,  his hand finally dropping from the back of his neck as he straightens his posture.  His tone is clear and   u n i q u e l y  serious as his attention settles fully on her,  even his nerves seeming to melt from his bones as he takes a slight step closer.                “         But that’s   not   all we are.  It’s   not   all we want  ...   At least it’s not all that   I   want.  And I like to think I know you well enough to know that you’re   holding back   as much as I am.      ”

Who you callin boyband?
Summary: anon requested calling the sunset curve boys a boyband and Luke reacting. Based off of Carlos calling then a boyband in the show.
Words: 1.8k
Warnings: none
Pairing: luke patterson x reader
Sorry I'm late to the anon who requested this!
...........................................
Their band had sounded amazing, as per usual. When Julie asked you if you could come watch to see if their song felt good enough for their next gig, you happily agreed. Though truthfully, you weren’t certain what she was worried about, they always sounded amazing and of course today was no exception.
“That was amazing you guys!” you chirped.
“Really?” Julie asked uncertainly.
“Definitely, I think that’s actually one of my favorites that you’ve made so far,” you assured her.
“See I told you guys she would like it,” Alex remarked from the back. You could tell from the phantom’s faces that there was a story behind his comment, but you didn’t bother asking.
“What do you guys say to some pizza to celebrate?” Julie suggested.
You agreed but you weren’t entirely certain Julie could even hear you over the boys chanting. Julie finally turned to you after they had quieted down.
“Yeah, I’ll take some,” you laughed.
“Great! I’ll let my Dad know,” she said, as she headed back up to her house. You watched her go, but your attention was soon diverted to the boys.
“You guys have to be the most pizza loving people I’ve ever met,” you teased.
“Then, you clearly have been hanging out with the wrong people,” Reggie commented.
You shrugged, “Maybe so, but you guys and pizza have more chemistry than Luke does on stage.” You took delight in the momentary look of shock on Luke’s face as you took a gulp from your water bottle. You almost thought you had him until the shock turned into a slick smile as his eyes flicked down towards yours.
“Does that mean you’re checking me out y/n?” Luke hinted. You could hear Reggie let out a oooooh in the background, but you choose to ignore it. Luke could recover quickly, you had to acknowledge that.
“Hate to break it to you Patterson, but I’m trying to manage the whole band. Not just you,” you slyly remarked.
His smile became more apparent. “But you didn’t answer the question.”
“He’s not wrong,” Alex pointed out. Reggie did finger guns towards him in agreement.
You crossed your arms and desperately hoped they didn’t realize how embarrassed you were. You leaned off the couch slightly and looked over to where Reggie and Alex were sitting. “For your information boyband, I was not checking Luke out,” you scoffed. You hoped they bought it, but that was evidently not the part that Luke was stuck on.
Luke tilted down so his arms rested at his knees, so he would be at your sitting level. “Wait, who are you callin boy band?”
“Uh, I don’t know, maybe the boy band in the room,” you said, as you gestured at them.
Luke crossed his arms too, sporting a pouty smile. “We are not a boy band.”
“You are boys. In a band. How are you not a boy band?” you argued.
“Y/n’s got a point there Luke,” Reggie agreed.
You pointed to him, “See, at least someone who’s logical is here.”
“Hey!” Alex started.
“Not you, that was directed at Luke,” you informed him.
“As you were,” Alex gestured at the two of you.
It wasn’t until you looked back at Luke that you realized your closeness to him. He couldn’t have been more than a foot away from where you sat. You cleared your throat, and you quickly tried to dismiss the thought from your mind.
“So boy band, why did you guys think I wasn’t going to like your new song?” you asked. They all exchanged seemingly panicked looks.
“Well it’s not that we thought you weren’t going to like it,” Alex trailed off.
“But like more of a general standpoint,” Reggie continued.
“Because it’s new,” Luke finished.
You suspiciously looked between the three. “Alright, what are you guys hiding?”
“Hiding? Us? Psssh,” Reggie scoffed. “I mean, it’s not like Luke-” He was cut off by Alex pressing a hand to his mouth.
“It’s not like Luke would’ve known whether you would like the song or not, is what Reggie was saying,” Alex offered as an explanation. The stink eye that the two were giving Reggie would’ve killed him on the spot if he weren’t already dead.
You were about to ask what was so important of a secret that
Reggie needed to be tackled, but Julie walked in.
“Did I just walk in on the middle of something?” she asked.
“Nope, just the boyband and their secrets,” you assured her with a slight smirk.
“Boyband, that’s new, I kinda like it,” Julie added.
Luke turned to head to the side with his mouth slightly agape as you bit down a laugh. “Thank you, that’s what I said.”
Julie was picking up on Luke’s annoyance and decided to play along. “Maybe I can get Flynn to change our name to Julie and the boyband,” she suggested.
“Oh my gosh, wouldn’t that be just perfect!” you exclaimed, being sickly sweet.
“You two are evil,” Luke said, as he threateningly pointed at the two of you.
You delightfully smirked. “What can I say Lukas, it’s my speciality,” you taunted. Reggie’s eyes went wide at the mention of his full name and Julie and Alex exchanged an amused look.
“What was that?” His grin was becoming more predatory by the second. He stood up to look down at you, and you took that as your cue to hop off the couch to face him.
“Did you miss what I said, Lukas?” You made sure to put extra emphasis on his name.
“No, I didn’t sweetheart,” he taunted back. You saw Julie raise her eyebrows from behind Luke’s shoulder. On one hand you hated that nickname but on the other hand you couldn’t tell if the growing heat on your face was from embarrassment of the name or the fact that Luke Patterson was calling you that. But you knew that you couldn’t let him know that.
“Mhmm, no we are not doing that,” you asserted.
He moved his face close enough to talk, you weren’t certain the others could hear him. “Well then don’t call me Lucas,” he bargained.
The words slipped from your mouth before your brain had a chance to realize what you were doing. “Make me,” you insisted.
You wished you could have disappeared in that moment, but alas you were stuck watching this as much as your three other friends were. When you finally opened your eyes to see what horrors you had in store for yourself, you first made eye contact with Julie; she looked rather surprised but almost a tint of impressed. You heard someone behind you clear their throat, and you turned around.
“I think we should go check if the pizza guy is here, right Julie?” Alex suggested.
Julie’s eyes went wide in realization of what was happening. “Right! Yep! You two stay here and hold the fort down!” She told you and Luke before practically sprinting out of the studio. You turned back around to see Reggie still standing there.
Alex quickly poofed back in and grabbed him as he incomprehensibly mumbled something.
Luke turned his attention back to you. “Make me, really y/n? That’s like the best you could come up with,” Luke crossed his arms.
“What would you prefer me to say?” you questioned. Something in Luke’s demeanor broke for a moment. His infamous smirk faltered, revealing something far more vulnerable behind it. “Luke, what are you guys hiding?” The puzzle pieces started to click into place about the day’s practice.
“Do you really want to know?” he timidly asked. You hadn’t seen him as nervous as he was at that moment.
You intently nodded your head.
“The guys were trying to keep it a secret, but I wrote that song myself about someone,” he shyly explained.
“Luke! That’s really cool, I knew there had to be a reason why I liked it so much.” You playfully bumped his hand.
Your response puzzled him. “You don’t want to know who it’s about?”
“Luke, your friends are not very good at keeping secrets,” you laughed.
“Are you serious?” he dumbfoundedly asked.
You couldn’t wipe the smile off your face. “Reggie accidentally told me last week,” you admitted.
“I’m gonna kill him,” Luke muttered, but you could see his lips twitching upwards.
“But he kept my secret, because he didn’t tell you that I like you back.” The last bit of your sentence was slightly mumbled as you tilted your head to the floor in embarrassment.
He softly grabbed your jaw and pulled you back up to his level.
“Sorry, I didn’t quite catch the last part.” And just like that, his smirk had returned.
You forced yourself to look up into his sparkling hazel eyes. “I like you, a lot, Luke.”
As he heard your words you swore you saw the fire in his eyes grow brighter. “I like you a lot too y/n.” His face was mere milimeters away from yours.
“Can I kiss you?” he asked softly.
Your eyes flicked from his lips back to his eyes. “Of course Patterson.” The gap closed between the two of you and it was like two worlds collided. His lips were slightly colder than yours as they softly melted into yours. You felt his one hand clutch your cheek softly, as the other held to the back of your neck. Your hands instinctively went to his hair as your kiss developed into something deeper, until the both of you had to swim to the surface for air.
As you caught your breath you realized that there were three very shocked occupants at the studio door.
You saw Reggie and Alex silently hand Julie ten bucks. “So do we have to watch you guys have eye sex still or are we good now?” Julie teased.
“Jules!” you groaned.
“She’s not wrong,” Reggie said as he walked past you.
Luke chuckled at your flustered state, “Yeah, I think we’re good now,” he responded, sending a wink in your direction that you rolled your eyes at.
“Great cause we have pizza!” Alex announced.
“Oh yay!” You were grateful for the attention being taken off of you.
“So does this mean that you were checking me out during rehearsal?” Luke asked, as you took a bite.
You rolled your eyes, but you decided to indulge him. “Yes, Patterson, I was checking you out.”
Alex grimaced. “Ohhh big mistake, he’s gonna hold that overhead for at least a month,” he warned.
You turned to Luke who clicked his tongue and finger gunned towards you in agreement. You resisted the urge to groan at your newest annoyance.
“But you’re stuck with me now,” Luke said with a mouthful.
“Luke, really?” Julie commented.
“Sorry,” he said, with his mouth still full.
You grinned at him, and despite his previous threat, you couldn’t be happier that you were finally stuck with him.

An Unlikely Partner
Summary: when the reader is paired with both simultaneously the most annoying and hottest guy in school for dance class, her feelings towards him might end up being more than just annoyance
Words: 8.6k
Warnings: Luke kinda being a bit of a dickhead and a very quick bit of tickling I guess
Pairings: alive!Luke Patterson x fem!reader (a bit of enemies to lovers and friends to lovers)
...........................................
So far your Monday was off to a decent start. Your weekend had been fairly eventful which, unfortunately, meant that you had to leave the school dance before you could hear Julie play. But you knew something had to have happened. She had missed the first three classes of school, and she hadn’t texted you or Flynn. You were starting to wonder if she was going to miss the fourth but she finally made it to the dance room a couple seconds after the bell rang. She took her spot next to you and Flynn and joined in on the warm up. “Jules so whatever happened with Nick?” you questioned as you stretched down to your toes.
Julie grimaced at the mention of the weekend. “Well I am embarrassed myself in front of him badly enough that I’m hoping I can avoid him for at least a week.”
“Oh come on, I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.”
Julie deadpanned. “He said that one of my songs had been stuck in his head and I told him someone should let it out.”
You exchanged a worried look with Flynn.
“Yeah, that’s pretty bad,” she admitted.
You attempted to reassure her. “But hey, look on the bright side, it can’t get much worse, right?”
“Don’t say that outloud, I’ll jinx myself,” Julie joked.
“I mean you’re safe in this class,” Flynn pointed out.
“True,” Julie sighed, as she bent down to stretch.
As you bent down again you swore you could hear a large group of voices coming from the hallway.
“You have to be fucking kidding me,” Julie groaned.
“What did I miss that you’re cursing?” Flynn joked.
Julie pointed through her legs at the door. “Look behind you.”
Flynn and you turned to see that the lacrosse team was entering the dance room, including Nick.
Julie moved closer to the two of you. “Remind me to never talk to him ever again,” she whispered.
Your dance class instructor, Mrs. Kelly, walked to the front of the room. “Alright dancers listen up, this week the lacrosse team will be joining us for class, so I want to make sure all of you are on your best behavior.” You all nodded in unison, but your attentions were cut short by coach Barron yelling.
“Remember boys this is not about flirting with girls, we are here to get better. We lost to Burbank! Burbank!” A couple boys winced at the volume.
Mrs. Kelly clapped her hands. “Alright, I think that’s enough of that. Boys I want you to each find your partner for this week,” she instructed.
A few boys began to move, but the majority of the team seemed to not want to move until coach Barron pushed them along. The three of you awaited your partners, and Julie tried to hide behind Flynn. But her plan was short lived as one of the players b-lined for Flynn before pulling her away.
“Sorry!” she whispered as she left the two of you.
“Well that just leaves us I guess,” Julie commented.
A small satisfactory smile played on your lips as you realized who was approaching. “No, I think someone’s got their eye on you.”
“Hey Julie!” Nick called out.
Julie’s eyes grew wide but she managed to keep a smile on her face. “Nick!”
You took that as your moment to leave but she grabbed a hold of your arm.
“Don’t leave me!” she hissed at you.
She clung to you desperately, but there was nothing you could do. “Sorry, but it’s groups of two,” you pointed out.
Julie sadly let you go before turning back to Nick. You quickly made your way to the front of the class since there weren’t any other people left. You politely tapped your dance teacher's shoulder.
“Um, Mrs. Kelly what do you want me to do?”
“Oh there’s still one person left I think.” She observed the room, but you saw no one standing alone. But that did not deter Mrs. Kelly. She cupped her hands around her mouth before loudly making an announcement.
“Who doesn’t have a partner?”
A single hand went up in the air and you watched as Luke Patterson came up from the back of the room. You felt a small pit drop in your stomach. Luke was definitely the hottest guy and school but he also had a habit of annoying the shit out of you. However, Mrs. Kelly didn’t seem to pick up on your annoyed attitude.
“Oh perfect, you and Lukas will be partners then,” she said brightly.
You held back an eye roll but you took your usual place by the gym doors, and Luke followed you.
As he took his spot behind you, you faced the front of the class so you wouldn’t have to look at him.
“She does know that I go by Luke now right?” he questioned once he was certain you were out of her hearing range.
“Probably not, it’s not like you’ve ever taken a dance class before,” you irritably pointed out.
“How do you know that?” he started to ask, but he was cut off.
“Alright girls let’s start it from the top!” Mrs. Kelly instructed.
As you gracefully moved through the number you had worked on last week, Luke copied your moves. You inwardly noted how quick of a learner he was, not that you would admit it; he definitely didn’t need the ego boost. You looked up to the mirror to see that he was watching you with an intensity you weren’t quite used to.
“You’re really good,” he quietly commented.
“Thanks,” you softly spoke. Before you could put meaning behind his words you spun into his chest, and your breath momentarily left your frame. You had known that his arms were muscular, but his chest was rock hard. You forced yourself not to think too much about it, and pushed away the mental images in your mind. You continued the dance as if nothing had happened, as you laid your hands across his. When you started swaying side to side, Luke broke the silence.
“So how do you know that I’ve never taken a dance class before?” he questioned, he seemed genuinely curious which was somehow more infuriating.
“Because we’ve been in the same grade for four years now Luke,” you huffed. He gently lifted your arms over your head before bringing them back down. You looked in the mirror to see that he was smirking.
“Are you sure you’re not spying on me?”
“The whole world doesn’t revolve around you Lukas,” you retorted.
“Maybe, but you might,” he winked at you through the mirror.
“In your dreams Patterson,” you scoffed.
You let go of his hands and he hopped outward with a twirl, but he didn’t land quite as gracefully as he had hoped. He managed to regain his balance at the last second, and caught himself with his hands.
You crossed your arms as you looked down at him. “Well it seems like there is something you aren’t good at,” you taunted.
“Are you implying that I’m good at everything else?” Luke sassed.
“Oh my god, Luke, why do you have to turn everything around?” you grumbled.
He dusted himself off and hopped up.
“Only because you’re making this too easy for me,” he snickered.
You couldn’t tell if it was his ego blocking your thoughts or if his sheer annoyance had made your mind go blank, but you couldn’t formulate a comeback, so you settled for a groan; which Luke laughed at.
Needless to say, you were thankful when dance class was over.
..........
“So, how was dancing with Luke?” Flynn sang.
“Terrible, I don’t understand how one person can be so cocky,” you complained, as you grabbed the books out of your locker.
Flynn confidently leaned up against the lockers. “Really, because he seemed quite interested in you.”
“Yeah me and along with every other girl in school,” you reminded her.
“Then how come he didn’t try to dance with anyone in our dance class, and hid in the back till he realized you didn’t have one?” You hadn’t considered that. But there was no way that he hid on purpose. But when you searched for a different explanation, the only one seemed to be the one you didn’t like. Flynn, however, looked quite happy with your conclusion.
Before you could stop yourself, you asked the question on your mind. “He was waiting?”
Flynn nodded. “Why else do you think one of the hottest guys in school didn’t have a partner?” she pointed out.
“I hate it when you’re right about these things,” you groaned, as you shut your locker.
She threw an arm around your back. “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it.”
As you walked into the parking lot, your eyes quickly searched around before locking eyes with Julie. Flynn waved goodbye to you before you made your way over to your car. But halfway through the parking lot, you were met by an obstacle.
“Hi y/n!” Reggie excitedly greeted you.
You couldn’t help but return the grin. “Hi Reggie.”
His demeanor quickly changed to a more nervous one as he spoke. “So since you’re already here, is there any chance you want a ride home in the jeep?” He pointed to the lifted black vehicle behind him.
You sighed, but even you couldn’t deny the twinkle in your eyes. “Did Luke put you up to this?”
“No, why would you say that?” Reggie scoffed, with a not very sarcastic tone of voice.
You grimaced at him with tight lips as you tilted your head sideways.
“Okay, yes, but please don’t tell Luke that I sold him out,” he begged.
You bit back a laugh but you agreed. “Your secret is safe with me, but can you do me a favor please?”
“Yeah, sure!” he happily agreed.
You grinned wickedly. “Tell starboy to wear some pads for tomorrow.”
“Huh?” His mouth was still slightly agape in confusion.
“Trust me, he’ll get it!” you called out as you made your way to your car.
..........
You were so early to dance class, that Mrs. Kelly hadn’t arrived yet. But your dance partner was only a minute behind you. As he entered the dance room the next day he had a rather unimpressed look on his face. “Starboy, really?” he asked, as he dropped his backpack on the floor.
You shrugged, “It seemed appropriate.” The look on his face was one of utter betrayal.
“Really, because I’m not not getting out of that nickname with my friends for at least a week.”
You bit your lip to pretend like you were thinking before shrugging again. “Eh, seems like your problem not mine,” you said casually.
Luke’s cocky smile returned. “Mhmm, not exactly.” He took a step towards you and you raised your head so you could make eye contact.
You took a step forward and you swore he could hear your heartbeat. You tilted your head at him. “And how exactly is that?” you whispered out.
His grin grew to his ears as he spoke. “Well, you gave me a nickname and you didn’t seem upset about the fact of riding with my friends, so now they think you like me.”
If he couldn’t feel your heart beating before, he definitely could now. You couldn’t even begin to fully process what he had just said. “What?” you spluttered out in shock.
“They think that you-” he poked your shoulder for emphasis, “like me,” he pointed back to himself.
Your brain was running at a million miles per minute. “Why would they even? No I do not! What kind of logic is that? That doesn’t even make any sense! What?” you rambled on.
After a few more seconds of absorbing your confusion Luke burst out laughing.
“Oh you should’ve seen your face,” he cackled.
“What?” you puzzled.
Luke managed to stumble through a sentence without laughing. “My friends don’t think you like me, I just wanted to see what your reaction would be.”
A part of you was relieved that your partial feelings for him hadn’t been revealed. But the other part of you wanted to punch him in the face. A puff of breath came out of your nose. “Real mature dickhead, real mature.”
Once Luke managed to pick himself up off the ground from laughing so hard he noticed that you were still turned away from him.
You thought you could hear a little bit of genuine concern in his voice, but you had to of imagined it. “Wait did I upset you?”
“What do you think Lukas?” you dryly responded.
Luke scratched the back of his neck. “Okay, so I definitely took that too far,” he paused to look up at you but you were still glaring daggers at him. “I’m sorry, y/n,” he apologized as he sweetly looked at you with glossy puppy eyes. But you weren’t going to settle for his cuteness.
“Your puppy eyes would work if you had stepped on my foot, or messed me up on the routine. But they’re sure as hell not going to work now,” you hissed.
It looked to you like Luke was shrinking from how much he was curling in on himself. You continued pretending like he wasn’t there but you glanced over when he started talking. “Y/n I’m really sorry, is there anything I can do to make it up to you?”
That certainly gave you something to think about. If Luke Patterson, the boy who hardly listened to anyone, was willing to let you pick his apology then he had to be feeling bad about what he had done. But actions are louder than words, so you knew you would have to come up with something to make him prove it. But suddenly, you thought of something.
“Tell me three really embarrassing things about yourself, and I’ll call it even, since you were trying to get a reaction out of me,” you proposed.
“Okay, that seems fair,” Luke agreed. You waited as he tried to remember three things.
“Oh I got one!” he chirped. “One time when I was ten I accidentally sent one of my teachers a song that I was working on, instead of my math homework, and then she made me read it in front of the class because she thought I was playing a prank on her.”
You were more focused on how mean his teacher was than his embarrassment. “Well that wasn’t very nice of her.”
“I know, Alex gave her the nickname song sucker for the rest of the year,” Luke fondly remembered.
He suddenly had another light bulb go off in his head. “Oh, and one time I farted in front of my third grade crush.”
As much as his stories were generally considered embarrassing, he was hard to embarrass and that these things didn’t even seem to bother him now, so you would have to make it a little bit harder for him.
“Luke, come on,” you groaned.
“What?” he asked innocently.
“What’s something that’s really embarrassing, like you’ve never even told anyone?” you asked.
“These things are embarrassing,” he pointed out.
You tilted your head. “Do they currently embarrass you?”
“No,” he admitted.
“See, what’s something bad enough that you’ve never even told anyone?” you questioned. Luke bit his bottom lip in concentration, and soon enough he thought of something.
“Okay, I’ll tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone,” he instructed.
“Your secret is safe with me Luke,” you promised.
“When I went to audition for this school, which you know, we had to do a music audition. I chose to sing and play my acoustic guitar. I went up on the stage, and everything was going fine until one of my guitar strings just snapped in half.”
Your hand covered your mouth in shock. “You’re kidding.”
Luke grinned. “It gets even better.”
You eagerly gestured for him to continue.
“So I keep playing and of course it sounds terrible. But then I’m holding out the last couple notes and I’m just waiting for it to be over, and then I’m finally done, and guess what happens.”
“What?” you asked eagerly.
Luke’s face flushed slightly as he recounted the worst part. “I tripped down the steps, and allllll my friends were in the front row watching me.”
You burst out laughing, “I’m so sorry.”
Luke’s jaw dropped in betrayal, but it was clear that he found it as funny as you did. “I just told you my most embarrassing story in my entire life, and you are laughing at me?”
“I’m sorry, but it’s too funny,” you giggled.
“Does, that mean I’m forgiven?” he asked hopefully.
Once you managed to stop laughing you nodded your head. “You’re forgiven,” you agreed.
Luke pumped his fist to the side in triumph. Once his excitement had settled he turned to you with a determined face.
“I have a deal for you,” he proposed.
“Sure, what is it?” you asked. Somehow hearing his most embarrassing story made you not mind being around him as much.
“We should just work together, and be friends. It’s only going to make this class worse if we’re at each other’s throats, so I’m proposing a deal, I’ll try to be less of a pain in your ass, and you tolerate teaching me,” he explained.
“Are you sure you’re capable of doing that?” you quipped.
He huffed but a smile still remained on his face. “Do we have a deal or not?” He extended his hand to yours and you took it.
“You’ve got a deal starboy,” you agreed.
Shortly after your deal was made the room started filling up with kids again. You made your way through stretching and warm up which mostly just consisted of the two of you goofing off. You had to admit, now that you were starting to be on good terms, he wasn’t as annoying as you had originally thought. As you started to dance, the two of you fell into a silent rhythm until Luke thought of something.
“So why did you choose back here?” he asked as he spun you.
The oddness of his question caused you to stop dancing. “What?”
He pointed to where you were standing. “Like back here, in the very back of the room, why?”
“Why do you care?” you wondered. You didn’t mean it in a mean way; it just seemed like a very weird, and specific question to ask.
Luke held a small smile on his face. “I’m curious so now I have to know,” he insisted.
“Well I can see both my friends from here without moving where I am standing,” you explained, and you pointed to the right side of the front of the room.
Luke still looked a bit puzzled. “Why do you need to watch them?”
“I’ll tell you, but you have to promise you won’t tell a soul,” you carefully warned.
Luke sincerely looked into your eyes. “I pinky promise.”
You deemed that as good enough.
“Well I need to watch Julie to spy on her and Nick, and I need to watch Flynn to make sure she’s not spying on me.” Your eyes widened as you realized that the last bit had slipped out of your mouth. You of course couldn’t tell him the reason was that you didn’t want Flynn to think you liked him, but now all you could do was hope he hadn’t noticed.
Luke appeared to not be analyzing your sentence, and for a second you thought he hadn’t noticed. But that second was short lived. “Wait, why would Flynn be spying on you?”
Your eyes went wide and you gritted your teeth for the eventual bad excuse that would come out of your mouth. You didn’t know why but you felt like if you said that Flynn thought you should get together, you would be revealing something.
But before you could utter a bad lie you were saved by Mrs. Kelly.
“Some of us need to focus more on our dance then our partners,” she announced to the class, but you knew it was meant for you and Luke. You felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment and Luke kept his eyes on the floor. But to the both of your horrors, she was walking over towards the two of you.
“Sorry, we’ll get back to work Mrs. Kelly,” you quickly apologized. Luke nodded in agreement.
“You two come to the front of the class,” she politely urged.
You turned behind you to exchange a nervous glance with Luke who shrugged at you, but you could see the slightly apologetic look in his eyes.
You followed Mrs. Kelly to the front of the classroom. She gestured for you and Luke to stand in certain positions. As you moved to your spot you made eye contact with Julie who shot you a confused look. “I don’t know either,” you mouthed to her.
“Alright class,” Mrs. Kelly clapped. The attention of the room turned to you, Luke, and Mrs. Kelly.
“Today I wanted to show all of you something. Y/n has been in my class for four years now, and even though this is Lukas’s first class with me I’ve decided to challenge them.”
Luke and you both looked slightly fearful, though he arguably looked a bit more scared than you.
“Now the rest of you are going to continue with the regular routine, but I will be adding a lift into y/n’s and Lukas’s routine.”
You stood still for a couple seconds as you processed what she had just said. You knew you were capable of doing a lift, but to do one with Luke would certainly be interesting. You weren’t certain if it was a good thing or not.
“Alright, that’ll be it for class today,” she announced, interrupting your spiral of thoughts.
The rest of the class started to grab their things and she turned to face the two of you.
“And I will be instructing the two of you on the lift tomorrow,” she told you, and without further explanation, she left the room.
“I’m beginning to think maybe we worked together a little too much today,” you commented quietly enough that only Luke could hear you.
“Oh come on, you can’t seriously think that,” Luke said, surprisingly cheerfully.
You figured he could probably hear the nerves in your voice, but you weren’t certain what his tone meant. “Just saying.”
“We got this, trust me,” he assured you as he glanced your way.
“If you say so,” you agreed hesitantly.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” He waved as he exited the room, and you waved back before packing up your stuff and heading out.
..........
“You ready partner?” Luke asked enthusiastically as he took his place by your side.
“Depends whether you’re ready,” you retorted. If you weren’t confident that this was going to go well you figured you might as well act like it.
“Trust me, I was born ready,” Luke smirked. It was starting to grow on you a little bit, but you couldn’t resist the temptation of annoying him back.
“Yeah right, says the one who fell on the floor the other day,” you teased.
His tongue briefly grazed the front of his top teeth. “You might wanna watch it, I’m the one holding you up in the air,” he prodded.
You felt your nerves start to kick in again. “Don’t you fuckin dare,” you warned.
Luke backed up in surrender. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I’m not going to drop you.”
“You better not,” you agreed.
“Why, do you not trust me?” he playfully scoffed.
You returned his cocky manner. “Of course not.”
Luke’s jaw dropped, but you knew he expected your answer. “Wow, maybe I will-” You glared at him and he stopped mid sentence.
“I’m not going to drop you, I swear.”
For once in his life he actually looked serious and in that moment you actually believed him. Your attention was then called to the front of the class as Mrs. Kelly clapped her hands.
“Alright, so today I want all of you to focus on the second part of the routine, and I want you to really work on moving on the right counts, it should be like you can hear me counting in your heads at this point. If anyone needs me, ask Coach Barron, or I’ll be over with Lukas and Y/n.”
As the rest of the class started working, she headed in your direction.
“Are you two ready for this?” she asked sweetly.
“Yes,” responded Luke.
“Maybe,” you responded.
Mrs. Kelly looked like she was trying to fight back a laugh. “Well don’t worry, I think you’re in good hands here y/n. I wouldn’t have had him do this if I thought he was going to drop you,” she assured you. You nodded your head as you took a deep breath. You knew she was right, but that didn’t stop you from being nervous.
She quickly showed you the position that you needed to stay in for Luke to be able to keep a hold of you. Most of your part was balancing, and being graceful. Two things that you could do fairly well. Then she moved onto Luke, who had to grab a hold of you and stand up.
“So you’re going to twirl into him, then he’s going to hug around your upper thighs, then he’s going to stand up, and twirl you around,” she said as she loosely demonstrated the moves.
“You think you guys can make it that far?”
Luke glanced towards you, and you nodded. “Yeah,” he responded.
“Great, remember it doesn’t have to be pretty the first time. I just want to see what it looks like.”
You took a deep breath of air and you moved to your starting spot, as Luke lunged to the ground. “You got this,” he mouthed. You gave him a thumbs up in acknowledgement. You took his hand, and lightly spun into him. He caught your waist in his chest and his hands tightly locked around your legs just below your butt. Luke quickly stood up with you without loosening his grip. The air swooshed around you as you momentarily soared through the air. You kept your hands planted on his shoulders to keep your balance.
“Alright, very good, now try to spin her around, and y/n let go of his shoulders,” she instructed.
You slowly moved your hands off of him and into the air gracefully. You took your time so you didn’t throw Luke off balance with any sudden moves.
“You ready?” he asked hesitantly.
You nodded slightly and held your breath. Luke quickly turned on his heals as he gracefully spun you around. You let your breath go after the first circle. It wasn’t as scary as you thought it was, and Luke was not even relatively close to dropping you. As he continued spinning you openly smiled and let yourself relax as your hands extended to the side and you leaned back a little. Despite that the room was filled with students and that Mrs. Kelly was beside the two of you, it felt like you and Luke alone existed in that moment. All that mattered was that the two of you were connected, and that you couldn’t stop grinning if you tried. But your high had to reach an end eventually.
“You can go ahead and put her down,” Mrs. Kelly instructed Luke.
Luke eventually slowed to a stop, but then came to a standstill.
Luke didn’t take his eyes off of you as he spoke out of fear of dropping you. “How do you want me to put her down?”
“Oh, release your grip a bit and slowly let her glide down, so let go of your own hands and just hold onto her legs individually. And as she is gliding down your hands are going to glide up your sides,” she explained.
Luke raised an eyebrow in your direction. You watched him for a moment, confused as to what he was asking but it dawned upon you that he was asking if you were okay with that. You nodded once at him to answer. He cautiously let his hands slide across the back of your thighs and up to your hips. You did your best to keep a straight face and not squirm as his hands glided on your sides.
“That was amazing, you two!” Mrs. Kelly exclaimed once you were safely planted back on the ground.
“Thanks,” you said sincerely.
“Yeah, thank you,” Luke agreed.
“Okay, I want you two to go through that a couple more times before class ends, and then add it into the routine tomorrow. If you need me I’ll be up at the front, or helping someone,” she told you.
You playfully bumped into Luke after she had left. “That was pretty good, especially for your first go,” you admitted.
Luke fidgeted with the chain on his jeans. “Thanks, I think you looked pretty graceful yourself.” He bumped you back.
“Well then, you ready to do it again?” you asked as you took his hand.
Luke’s lips quirked up. “Always.”
..........
You were thankful when lunch arrived especially from the appetite you had worked up from dance class. Or course you went to your usual table with Flynn and Julie, but from the look on Flynn’s face you were certain that something had happened.
“Okay, so spill, and you better not leave out anything,” she warned.
You took your seat opposite of Julie and Flynn. “I literally just got here, what are you even talking about?”
“What do you mean what am I talking about? Hello, you and Luke? Enemies to lovers? The eye contact, the closeness, all of the above?” she rambled.
“Don’t be ridiculous, we are not lovers,” you scoffed. You avoided Flynn’s eye contact as you spoke.
“Says the one who couldn’t stop grinning the entire class,” Julie whispered under her breath, but it was loud enough for you to hear it.
“Ooooh she went there,” Flynn beamed. She raised her hand to fist bump Julie, who slyly went to return it before you abruptly stopped them.
“Hey! No! No fist bumping,” you said, and the girls both turned to you midair, “there is nothing to fist bump about because I don’t like him,” you protested.
“Y/n if you think how I act around Nick is bad, you should see yourself,” Julie teased.
You just blinked at her in disbelief. You had seen how Julie acted around Nick a couple times, and you knew there was no way you acted like that.
“I do not!” you defended yourself, though it came out as more of a whine.
“Oh, you so do, and that just proves it,” Flynn stated as she crossed her arms.
“As my brother would say, Y/n and Luke sitting in a tree-” Julie started singing, and, to your horror, Flynn joined along.
“K-I-S-S-I-N-G,” they sang. Before they could get any further, you loudly shushed them.
“Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine, if I admit that I like him will you two stop it?” you pleaded, as you nervously glanced around the cafeteria that someone was listening to them.
“Maybe?” Julie smirked.
“I’m starting to like Luke,” you quietly admitted.
“Oh I so saw this coming,” Flynn bragged.
“So did I,” Julie agreed. They finally finished their fist bump and you didn’t bother stopping them this time.
You nervously pulled at your hair. “So what do I do about it?”
Flynn clasped her hands in a very formal manner. “I hate to be the one to break it to you, but there’s not much you can do about it. That’s kinda how crushes work.”
You shrugged. “If I try hard enough maybe I can get rid of it though, or at least ignore it.”
“That’s a fucking terrible plan,” Flynn said bluntly.
“It’s better than making a fool out of myself in front of him,” you suggested weakly.
Julie briefly reached out to touch your hand. “Y/n if I can talk to Nick after what I said to him last weekend then, I think you can do this,” she assured you.
Flynn took a swig of her water. “Besides, I can guarantee you, your liking is not one sided,” she added. A large part of you wanted to believe her, but you were also confuzed how she was so certain.
“Why do you think he likes me?” you questioned.
Flynn’s eyes pointed past your shoulder. “Because, don’t look now but, he keeps looking over at you every couple of seconds.”
You gulped rather loudly, but you stayed facing forward. “He’s been sitting there for how long, and you guys didn’t tell me?” you whispered.
Julie raised an eyebrow. “Would you of wanted us to tell you?”
“Good point,” you agreed.
“So, do you believe us now?” Flynn asked.
“Maybe, but I’m going to have to hear it from him to believe it eventually,” you conceded.
Julie had a satisfactory grin on her face. “Well then it looks like you have some stuff to talk about after Friday,” she suggested.
“Lots of stuff,” Flynn agreed.
..........
As you walked into the classroom on Thursday morning you felt your nerves starting to creep back in. You weren’t certain if the nerves were about dancing or Luke, but you did your best to brush them away.
Julie was of course the first to notice this, and stopped you before you could walk past her to your spot. “Hey, you got this,” she assured you with a quick smile. You did your best to return her expression, but it was evident to her that you were faking it.
“Look at me,” she squeezed your arm lightly, “you’ve been working up to more complex dances for years. And as for Luke, if he doesn’t realize how amazing, beautiful, and talented you are, then he’s not worth your time.”
“Men generally aren’t,” Flynn commented. You stifled a laugh, and Julie tried not to smile. She tried to send a glare in Flynn’s direction but the corners of her lips betrayed her. Flynn grinned back at her but went back to changing her shoes.
Julie huffed and fondly rolled her eyes, “My point is, if he doesn’t see it, then he’s not good enough for you anyways. Now, come on go show everybody up.” She lightly pushed you in the direction of your corner.
You quickly thanked Julie as you headed over. Luke was already in your corner and surprisingly; he looked slightly nervous himself. “You ready for this?” he asked.
A sudden surge of confidence hit you from Julie’s words. “I was born ready,” you bragged.
Luke looked shocked for a moment but it morphed into a grin. “Finally, I thought you were never going to get there,” he scoffed.
“Whatever, starboy.”
Luke’s hazel eyes shimmered brightly. “Does that make you stargirl?” he questioned.
“You know because we’re dancer partners,” he quickly added.
You shrugged, “I guess it would.” You said it casually but inwardly you were anything but that. You were certain he didn’t mean anything by the nickname but you couldn’t keep from playing it over in your head.
Mrs. Kelly quickly started the class and ran through stretches so that everyone could get to practicing the dance for tomorrow. Luke and you decided to run through the full dance as many times as possible so you didn’t forget any of the parts the next day. You ran through the first part of the dance with minimal missteps. You quickly spun into him just as you had done the day before and carefully balanced yourself as you went up into the air. As the spin finished you nearly squirmed out of his arms as he went to set you down. You held your breath as you realized you were going to hit the ground. But he managed to slow your fall by having an arm around your stomach.
“What did I do that that just happened?” he chuckled. He offered you his hand up which you gratefully took. You knew that your face was on fire, not to mention the rest of your body. You popped your knuckles as you combed through your mind for an excuse. “Um, I just must’ve lost my balance a bit, can we try it again though?” you suggested.
He gave you a curious look but agreed.
You spun into him, and once again you did the lift and the spin almost perfectly. But as you were slowly released to the ground, you felt like his hands were digging into your sides further than last time. Luckily, Luke was prepared and managed to catch you before you even touched the ground.
Luke cocked his head to the side as the pieces started to come into place. “Are you ticklish?” he asked.
“No, why would you say that?” you said as you took a step back.
“Oh, you so are!” Luke happily exclaimed.
He went to poke your right side and you shifted to the left. He alternated and you went the opposite way. “I’m going to get you eventually,” he teased. You were narrowly missing his hands, but you could already feel your laughter building. Luke’s smile grew wider, and as you accidentally paused to take it in, he reached out to tweak your side and you let out a quiet giggle. “God, your laugh is cute,” he uttered under his breath. You heard him clearly, but you were a little preoccupied to comment on it, and while you were having fun, you knew that you were probably going to get into trouble. You quickly tried to think of a solution, and in your weakened state you said the first thing you thought of. “I will get you kicked out of this class,” you threatened. You weren’t certain why you had chosen to say that, but you couldn’t take it back now.
Luke cocked his head, “You’re going to get me kicked out?” he repeated.
You inwardly cringed. “That is what I said,” you admitted.
He looked slightly worried, “Is that possible?”
You crossed your arms, and you tried to keep from smiling which would give you away. “Do you really want to find out?”
“No,” he said as if he was asking a question.
“Exactly,” you smirked.
Luke crossed his arms and huffed. “Fine, I’ll try to not tickle you this time.” You could tell it was killing him that you had bested him, but he didn’t try it again.
You ran through the lift again and this time you were able to do it without squirming. Then you ran through the entire routine again, without stopping.
“How would you say that one was?” Luke asked.
“I would say we got this in the bag,” you said confidently.
He raised his hand and gave you a high five. “I hope so, otherwise Coach Barron’s going to be on our asses for the next month,” he ruefully admitted.
“We got this Luke, we’ve put in the work to be able to. Besides, we work well together,” you assured him.
Luke broke into a smile and you swore you saw him flush red for a second. “I think we do too.”
The two of you stood in an awkward silence for a couple seconds before the bell rang. Luke grabbed your stuff and handed it to you, and then grabbed his.
He cleared his throat.  “So what do you say if we get an A I’ll take you to get ice cream tomorrow? As a thank you for teaching me.” His eyes drifted towards yours but when you looked towards him, he quickly looked away.
“I would like that,” you happily agreed.
“Great! I’ll see you tomorrow stargirl.” Then he took off to catch up with his friends in the hallway. You couldn’t help yourself from grinning like a lovesick puppy, and when you looked up he was looking at you and waved. You chuckled and waved back at him. Maybe you did have a shot at him.
..........
“You ready Ladies?” you asked, as Flynn, Julie, and you walked into the studio.
“I’ve been ready,” Flynn scoffed as she tossed her hair.
You shook your head at your friend’s antics. “What about you Julie?”
“Nick’s pretty nervous, but I think we’re going to do just fine. He’s got some rhythm, and he’s really been trying,” Julie divulged.
“You guys are gonna do amazing, I mean no one can compete with your chemistry.” You playfully nudged her shoulder, and she nudged you right back.
“Except you and Luke.” Julie winked at you, and you pursed your lips.
“Hey, this isn’t about me. I was talking about you and Nick.”
Flynn decided that it was her moment to pop in. “Yeah, and now we’re talking about you and Luke.”
“How are you guys the best but also simultaneously the best but the worst?” you groaned.
“It’s kinda our thing,” Flynn said, as she wrapped an arm around you.
“Oh that reminds me, if we get an A, Luke is taking me out to get ice cream,” you suddenly blurted out. Your friends' faces were priceless.
“Like a date?” Julie estaticaly asked, but Flynn cut her off.
“Well get over there with your partner, I’m not letting this dance come in the way of my otp!” Flynn was practically pushing you over towards your spot.
“Okay, okay, I’m going!” you laughed.
As you turned around you saw Luke who wore a black button up and black jeans. You did your best to not start drooling right then. The shirt was tight enough on him that it left little to the imagination. The black complimented him incredibly well, and he looked just as good without the beanie as he did with it on. Despite the heart eyes going off in your mind, you kept your cool when you walked over to him.
Luke looked highly amused. “What was that about?” You panicked for a second that he had noticed your freakout, but then you realized he was just talking about your friends.
You licked your lips before responding. “Let’s just say Flynn really wants us to do well together.”
“Luckily for her, that’s exactly what we’re going to do.” He winked at you, and you did your best to maintain your composure.
“You got it starboy.”
“Okay, so I hope all of you are prepared for today. I want everybody to take a deep breath,” Mrs. Kelly instructed.  You glanced over towards Julie and Flynn, they both were starting to look nervous, but you were certain you held the same expression on your face. “Now, I want everybody to shake it out, and then get into position. And good luck!” she called out.
“You got this,” Luke whispered from behind you. You nodded, and inhaled a shaky breath. “You too,” you mouthed. The music started up and you let the week of muscle memory take over. The two of you moved in perfect unison and you soon found yourself smiling instead of nervous. It was only when you got to the lift that you tensed up again. You twirled into Luke, who gracefully caught you before pushing you into the air. As you spun around you extended your arms as Luke carefully held onto you. And as he lightly let you down you stayed perfectly still until your feet touched the floor. You inwardly cheered that you had done it successfully, but you had to continue moving into the second part. It seemed to fly by and a minute later your arms were latched together as the song closed on a fade. The room stood completely still for a couple seconds until various students cheered.
“Yes, we did it!” Luke yelled. You cheered along with him and the rest of the class. Luke gave you a celebratory double high fived, as you celebrated. But your hands never separated. Instead his hands clasped around yours.
“Is that okay?” he asked quietly.
The adrenaline still pumping through your body was making you a bit more bold than usual. You also held his hands as your arms fell to your sides. “Yes, it definitely is.”
“Alright, everyone listen up,” Mrs. Kelly called out. Luke and you faced the front, but kept one of your hands interlocked. Mrs. Kelly continued, “Okay, we’re going to walk around and give you your grades starting from the front to the back.”
You turned your head towards him. “That makes us last,” you realized with a grimace.
His hazel eyes fixed on yours with sincerity. “We’ll be fine, promise.” He gently stroked his thumb across the back of your hand which calmed you down a bit.
Your friends both cheered when they got their scores. Flynn got a B because her partner tripped, but she was plenty happy with it. Julie got an A, and accidentally hugged Nick in excitement. She looked mortified but Nick looked the happiest you had ever seen him. But finally, it was you and Luke’s turn.
You exchanged a nervous look and hand squeeze before Mrs. Kelly approached you. “So I know that I gave you and Luke a more difficult routine, and I must say you handled it with grace, and it turned out wonderfully. So for your chemistry, and for your talent. You two get an A!” she cheered.
You swore you could’ve jumped up and down with joy. “Hell yes!” you cheered. It soon occurred to you that you had accidentally said that outloud. Mrs. Kelly gave you a glare, but she was struggling to keep her composure.
“Sorry,” you grimaced.
“It’s alright, just don’t let Coach Barron hear you,” she laughed.
Luke started busted out laughing once she had walked away.
You lightly swatted his shoulder. “Are you laughing at my misery right now?”
He barely managed to stop laughing to answer you, and he was still grinning from ear to ear. “Yes, that was priceless, and you know it was funny too.”
You rolled your eyes, but your smile gave you away. “Alright, maybe you’ve got a point,” you admitted. “But we did it!”
“I guess that means I owe you an ice cream,” Luke reminded you.
Your eyes lit up. “Oh right, let’s go!”
Luke raised an eyebrow. “You do know we have school after this right?”
The high from dancing hadn’t wound down yet, and you were not in the mood to be in school. “Yes, and?”
Luke smirked. “You sure you want to skip?”
Before you could answer, a hand was around your other wrist. “Nope, she’ll see you after school Luke!” Julie called out as she dragged you out of the room.
Luke mouthed see you later, and you gave him a thumbs up as you were being pulled away.
..........
You felt someone taser your sides, and you yelped. “Luke!”
He shrugged. “Sorry, just couldn’t resist,” he teased. You pointed your index finger at him.
“Bullshit, you’re not sorry, but I’ll let it slide since you’re getting me ice cream.”
“You got your stuff?” he asked.
You shut your locker. “Yep, let’s go.”
As your eyes adjusted to the outside sun Luke looked around for your car. “Did you bring your car to school?”
You smiled proudly. “Nope, I knew we’d get an A, so I asked Julie’s dad to drive her today.”
Luke was shocked. “Are you serious?” You nodded.
“Wow, you really believed in us,” Luke said in amazement.
“Thanks, I think,” you laughed.
“Come on, the guys are waiting for us in the jeep,” he said, grabbing your hand and leading you over.
You went to take the back seat with Alex, but Reggie quickly overided you. “Nope, you’re sitting in the front with Luke,” he insisted.
“It’s okay, I’ll sit in the back Reggie, it’s cool,” you assured him.
“You’ll never hear me say this again, but I’m with Reggie, you’re sitting in the front,” Alex argued.
You made eye contact with Luke who just grinned instead of helping you.
“Fine, you guys win, I’ll go in the front.”
Once the seating arrangement was changed the ride was fairly peaceful. As it turned out, both Alex and Reggie were incredibly nice. Not that you had expected any different, they had always seemed kind in school, but you had never really spoken to them much.
“Okay Reggie, don’t crash my jeep, and Alex make sure Reggie doesn’t crash my jeep,” Luke instructed as he handed over the keys.
“You got it,” Reggie said with a salute, and Alex gave him a reassuring smile.
“Your friends are really nice,” you spoke as they pulled out.
“Yeah, I lucked out with them,” Luke said fondly.
“Now, come on, I’m practically dying of hunger.” You pulled him by his hand into the shop. You ordered three scoops of your favorite flavor and Luke got a birthday cake shake.
He opened the door for you as you walked outside to find a table. “Thanks for getting me ice cream Luke,” you said as you sat down.
“Anytime stargirl.” His eyes especially shimmered in the sunlight.
“Do you know your eyes are really pretty?” you commented.
“Do you know that I think you’re really pretty?” You found that you could no longer look into his eyes.
Luke took a hold of one of your hands. “Y/n?”
You looked from your hands to his face. “Yes?”
Luke’s face softened. “Thank you for teaching me.”
“You don’t need to thank me Luke. You taught me things too,” you pointed out.
Your comment puzzled Luke. “Like what?”
“Like you think somebody is super annoying, and then when you get to know them, they are actually quite sweet.”
Luke soaked up your words for a moment before narrowing his eyes. “Did you just call me super annoying?”
You threw your hands up in frustration. “That’s the part that you’re focusing on!” you laughed.
“I was not super annoying!” he defended himself.
You pointed towards yourself, “I beg to differ.” You held a Luke sized smirk on your face, which unfortunately, he returned.
“Fine, how’s this for annoying?” he taunted.
“Wha-Luke!” You screeched as he dug into your side. His hand still held onto one of yours, and your other hand was uselessly batting as his.
It was clear that he was enjoying himself. “Am I annoying now?” he teased.
“Yehehehes!” you giggled defiantly.
“Good.” He smirked and moved his hand into your armpit. You bit back a scream as his hand scratched at your hollows.
“Okhahay! You’re not annoying!” you screamed.
“That’s what I thought.”
“You are lucky I like you,” you huffed. It took you a couple of seconds to realize what you had said, but once you did you immediately started to panic.
Luke lifted your chin up to look at him. “Y/n?”
“Yes?” You were a ball of nerves.
“I like you too,” he admitted.
“Oh thank god.” You breathed a sigh of relief.
Luke looked puzzled but simultaneously amused. “Why else do you think I would’ve brought you on a date?”
Your eyes widened as everything started adding up in your mind. “This is a date?” you exclaimed.
“Y/n are you serious?” Luke laughed.
“Yes!”
“Yes, it’s a date. But if it makes you feel any better, I’ll ask.” Luke got down on one knee and took both of your hands in his.
“Y/n will you be my girlfriend?” he asked sweetly.
Your eyes glittered with joy. “Of course starboy.”

Bold Moves
Summary: You unexpectedly make a new friend at a party while Luke does his best to distract you.
Words: 2.8k
Pairings: luke patterson x reader
Warnings: teenage drinking and a few cuss words
...........................................
You should’ve known better. But alas, here you were, at some party where you didn’t know anyone. Minus the band of course, but you hadn’t seen any of them in what felt like at least half an hour. Flynn had left an hour ago, you almost left with her, and you were currently wishing that you had. But a small part of you wanted to stay in case you got to hang out with Luke. You weren’t certain what you were thinking, it’s not like he would want to hang out with you. You considered going to go talk to Julie but she seemed to be having a good time, so you decided not to interrupt her; and instead you settled in the corner of the kitchen that seemed the least crowded.
After observing for a bit you decided that you needed something to dull the thoughts flowing through your mind. You got off of your stool to get some spiked red punch. You took a sip of it to find that it was more vodka than hawian punch. It burned your mouth and the back of your throat as it went down, but it would do the trick. You managed to gag down about half a cup before you noticed a girl around your age approaching you.
She had black straightened hair pulled up in a high ponytail. She wore a neon green two piece dress which nicely complemented the silver makeup she had applied to her dark brown skin. She took the other stool next to you.
“How’s the punch coming?” she asked with a widely toothed grin.
“Depends how low your standards are,” you remarked as you took another swing.
“Yeah, I noticed your first attempt,” she laughed.
You groaned internally about how you probably looked. “It was that bad?”
“Mhmm, I’ve seen worse tonight, so don’t sweat it.” She patted your shoulder in assurance. “I’m Allie by the way.”
“I’m y/n, nice to meet you,” you said with a smile.
Allie seemed to smirk at your introduction. “Oh trust me, I know who you are.”
You however, were certain you had never met this girl in your life. “Care to elaborate?” you asked.
“Your friend sent me over here to check on you.” She pointed behind her in the general direction of the massive living room, where you had last seen your friends.
“Please tell me Julie didn’t send you,” you groaned as you pressed your fingers against your temple.
“Yep, I believe that was her name,” she admitted.
You hesitantly looked over at her and made eye contact. “You really don’t have to hang out with me, you know that right?”
She shrugged. “I don’t have anything better to do, besides you don’t seem too bad.”
“You don’t seem too bad either Allie,” you agreed with a slight smirk.
“Well thank you, now your friend Julie tells me you’re over here moping about a boy?” she asked, though it was more of a statement. And it wasn’t a statement you could disagree with either.
“How much did she tell you?” you questioned.
“Not that much,” she answered with an anxious smile.
You continued to look at her, until she eventually sighed.
“Okay a decent amount, you don’t have to tell me anything, but would it help if I told you something about me to make it fair?” Allie suggested.
You couldn’t help but chuckle at her proposal but you agreed nonetheless.
“Well I was talking to this girl earlier, and I was going to get her number, but then I think she left before I could get it, and I’m really upset about it,” she started.
You took another swig of your drink and you continued to watch her as she continued.
“And she was wearing this bright orange top, and she had on these tall black heels and-” You cut Allie off as you realized the outfit she was describing sounded very familiar. Suddenly, the pieces fell into place.
“Wait, her name didn’t happen to be Flynn, did it?” you asked.
“Yes, it was! Do you know her?” she exclaimed.
“Are you kidding me, she’s one of my best friends!” you yelled.
“Do you think you could pass my number along to her?” Allie timidly questioned.
“Of course! Flynn mentioned something about there being a girl she met, but she had to go because her mom was coming home,” you explained.
Allie clasped her hand to her mouth. “She mentioned me?”
You nodded your head, you briefly considered telling her that Flynn had called her pretty too, but you decided that you would leave it up to Flynn to tell her that. After she had calmed down you handed your phone over to her to write down her number, which you immediately sent to Flynn. Not even a full minute later, Flynn had texted her.
Allie let out a small screech of excitement. “You are my guardian angel y/n!” she praised you.
You giggled at her compliment, “I didn’t even do anything.”
She tilted her head down at you to glare. “You saved me from never being able to contact her again, I will not be accepting that as an answer.”
You raised your hands in surrender. “Alright, you’re welcome then, but I do expect to be the first person on your wedding guest list,” you sarcastically commented.
“If this works out, hell, you can be my maid of honor,” she remarked.
You laughed hard enough at her retort that you nearly fell off of your stool, but you managed to pull yourself together when you realized Allie was still trying to talk to you.
“But now you have to let me pay you back,” she insisted.
You raised your eyebrows in confusion.
“You got me in contact with Flynn, so now I want to help you with your boy troubles,” she explained.
You internally debated for a couple minutes before eventually agreeing to accept her help.
“Okay, so tell me anything and everything you want to about him.”
As you dived into your pity story, you felt your somber mood starting to come back. “His name is Luke, and we’ve been friends for a couple months now. We’re really close and we flirt all the time, but I think I’m only ever going to be a friend to him.”
Allie narrowed her eyes at you. “Did you just say you flirt all the time but you think he only wants to be friends?”
“Yeah.”
“You know that doesn’t make any sense, right?” she questioned.
“Well I think he flirts that way with everyone. I don’t think I’m special to him in that way,” you admitted.
“First of all, I don’t know how anyone could look at you and not see that you’re special, but what does your boy look like?”
You couldn’t quite figure out why that would help, but you told her anyways. As you finished, she opened her mouth to give her take.
“See that’s where I think you’re wrong, I’ve been here since your group got here. And I haven’t seen him look at anyone like he looked at you when you walked in.”
“And what way was that?” you questioned before taking another sip of your drink.
“Like he wants to fuck you,” Allie said seriously. You nearly did a spit take, but you managed to hold back your laughter long enough for you to swallow.
“Allie, I think you’ve got him pegged wrong.”
She opened her mouth to comment on your sentence, but you held up a finger. “I know I set myself up for that one, but don’t do it.”
“Fine, if you wanna take all the fun out of it,” she quipped.
As she was momentarily distracted by her phone, you glanced around the room. You quickly recognized one of the faces in the crowd, as none other than Luke himself. He soon turned around to see you watching him. He arched his eyebrows at you almost in challenge, and when you did the same to him, his lips quirked up in a smirk. You knew exactly what he had just started, and in turn, what you had agreed to.
It was a sort of unspoken game that the two of you played. Whoever was the first to lose their composure, lost. You had won a grand total of one time, by a means of which you would never tell anyone about. But that didn’t stop you from playing it.
You turned back to Allie who started up a conversation mostly entailing complaining about school. You tried to stay in the conversation, but your brain kept pulling you back to Luke. You shortly after gave in, and stole another glance from him as he was swaying side to side to the music coming from another room. He jutted his chin out with a satisfactory grin, but you refused to give him a win, and stuck your tongue out at him. You couldn’t hear him, but you could see him tutting at you and shaking his head. You rolled your eyes and gave him the finger. While you knew that would probably end up biting you in the butt later, it was fun in the moment.
“Earth to y/n,” Allie snapped, and you came out of your daze.
“What? I’m sorry,” you apologized.
“You’re fine, I just asked you what I should send to Flynn,” she continued. She tried to hand her phone over to you, but you pushed it back.
“Flynn will know it’s me if I help, that girl has like a sixth sense for when someone’s lying. How do you think Flynn and Julie know I like Luke?” you pointed out.
“Good point, I’ll think of something.” She went back to her phone as she puzzled at whatever Flynn had sent.
As you tilted your head up you realized that Luke was unmistakingly closer than he was earlier. You would’ve moved if it weren’t for the fact that you were sitting with Allie. Which was likely the reason why he had moved closer, because he knew you couldn’t move away.
As you locked eyes again Luke’s eyes quickly pulled downward as they trailed down and back up your frame. You fought hard not to smile but you covered it well by turning to toss your hair backwards. As you faced him again you could see him mouthing something. After he repeated it twice you realized he said ‘damn right’. You hoped you somehow could miraculously think of something to say, but your thought process had momentarily stopped because of him. Either he hadn’t noticed your loss in composure or you hadn’t done enough yet to lose, despite the fact that you were already in a flustered daze.
“Dude are you alright?” Allie asked.
“What? Yep! Definitely,” you stumbled out.
Allie didn’t buy your lie for a second. “Are you sure?”
You still weren’t fully present. “Yeah, sorry, I’m just a little bit distracted with the setting,” you said without thinking.
“The setting?” she repeated, and you realized what had just come out of your mouth.
“That was maybe a little weird,” you laughed.
“It’s cool, but can you help me choose what photo to send to Flynn?” She showed you her phone which had a handful of photos of her in various outfits and in different places. Your eyes flicked up from the phone for only a moment, to see that Luke had been waiting for you to look up. He never broke his piercing gaze as his tongue peeked out from behind his lips and scooped up to almost touch his tongue before rolling back down.
“Shit,” you hissed, looking downwards.
Allie finally started to connect the dots. She looked from you to where Luke stood, then back to you.
“Wait, that’s why you’ve been acting weird!” she exclaimed.
“Yes, but could you keep it down please? He doesn’t need to know that,” you whispered.
“Right, sorry,” she muttered. You realized you needed a distraction from the infuriating hot boy in front of you so you forced your attention to go back to Allie’s phone.
“Oh by the way, I think you should definitely go with this picture, your lighting is the best.” You pointed to the far left photo in the middle.
“Ooooh, good choice,” she agreed, as she took her phone back. “So what’s up with the boyfriend?” she absentmindedly questioned.
“Again not my boyfriend, but he’s being a little shit,” you loudly spoke the second part. You watched as Luke dawned his most innocent face as he mouthed the word ‘what’ to you. You scowled at him, but he looked at you with a rather satisfactory grin.
Allie watched your silent banter with amusement. “He is all up in your hair, isn’t he?” she teased.
“No he isn’t!” you protested. But as you looked back and he winked at you, you had to slap a hand over your mouth to keep from screaming, and you realized she may have had a point.
“Oh, he is so, but goodluck with that one, though something tells me you won’t need it.” She winked before standing up.
“Are you serious leaving me alone with him?” you complained.
“You know that’s what you want, and I’m pretty sure he wants that too.”
“Fine, you may have a point,” you conceded.
“But you better tell me all of the details by tomorrow,” she insisted as she made her way out of the kitchen.
“Same goes to you!” you called out.
Luke quickly came over to take your previous friends spot.
“It’s so weird how you never seem to win y/n,” he sarcastically commented.
You lightly slapped his knee. “Oh shut it Patterson.”
One of his eyebrows quirked up. “I thought that was my line.”
You knew you probably should’ve let it drop but you weren’t quite certain what he was trying to say. “Then what’s mine?”
“Make me,” he answered without hesitation.
You sharply inhaled and closed your eyes, before glaring. “You are so lucky you are hot.”
Luke’s eyes widened and his corners of his lips tilted up. “What was that?”
Truthfully, you hadn’t meant to say that out loud, but you were not going to tell him that. “Nothing that you need to hear a second time,” you retorted.
“But what if I want to?” he sweetly protested.
“Well then you’re gonna have to try harder than that,” you scoffed.
Luke swallowed hard and cleared his throat. “Can I kiss you?”
While the question momentarily confused you, you hungrily agreed, and in seconds his lips were against yours. He was just as starving for the taste for you as you were for him. The kiss quickly deepened as his hands clutched the back of your neck for support, and your hands were tangled in his hair. His tongue quickly took dominance over yours as your lips parted for one another. It felt like your whole body lit on fire as rainbows flashed in your closed eyes. You only pulled away out of the fear that you would pass out if you didn’t.
“That was better than I’ve imagined, and I’ve thought about it a lot,” Luke raspilly admitted.
After a couple deep breaths it dawned on him what had happened.
Luke scratched the back of his neck. “Did I just say that out loud?”
“Yep,” you giggled.
He looked at you pleadingly. “You have to promise me, you’re not going to tell anyone that.”
“Nope, I’m telling everyone,” you teased.
“Oh shut it.”
You looked at him with a certain type of fire in your eyes. “Make me.”
He spun you so your right ear was facing him as he whispered into it. “You know, I drove my car here,” he hinted.
“What are we going to tell the rest of the band?”
“We can figure that out later,” he assured you, as he took a hold of your hand.
As you felt his warmth pressed up against your skin, you knew that there was no part of you that wanted to say no. “Alright, but they can’t find out. Otherwise, I will never hear the end of it from Julie.” Luke grinned from ear to ear.
“You’ve got a deal princess,” he agreed as he led you to his car.
Unsurprisingly, they all did find out later, and the two of you had to endure their teasing and prodding for the entire ride home. But this didn’t bother either of you because you were both still too happy to care.

Luke v. Schoolwork
Summary: The reader attempts to continue getting school work done but Like has other plans, and has no problems using whatever means to achieve them.
Words: 1.8k
Warnings: none
Pairings: luke patterson x molina!Reader (gender neutral)
...........................................
“Come on Molina, we have practice soon!” Luke whined.
“Exactly you have practice, so you go to the studio,” you retorted with a chuckle.
The smirk on his face grew, despite your refusal he knew he was getting to you. “It’ll be funnnnnnnnnn,” he sang.
You placed yourself down on your bed next to him. “As much as I’m sure it would, I have stuff to do, so I can’t.” You gently placed a kiss on his forehead which momentarily distracted him. You had nearly made it back to your work without a word but he stopped you just before you started.
“What are you working on again?” he asked over your shoulder. You rotated your head around slightly.
“Chemistry.”
“Chemistry that’s due when?” The suspicion in his voice was very clear.
“Next week,” you mumbled, as you glanced away from him and towards your screen.
“Y/n,” he loudly groaned.
“What? I’m trying to finish early,” you reasoned.
“You’re no fun,” Luke teased.
“Well you won’t be saying that when I’m done before May,” you argued, as you still looked at the screen.
“If I make it till then,” Luke scoffed. “What?” You hadn’t the slightest clue what he meant by that.
“I mean you hardly give me any attention, it’ll be a miracle if I make it till then,” he explained. You knew he was kidding from the dopey grin on his face that you could see in the reflection on your computer.
“Luke I think you’ll manage,” you commented.
“Please?” he sweetly asked. You could only imagine the puppy dog eyes he was giving you, which is exactly why you didn’t turn around.
“Sorry, but no can do Patterson,” you said with a shrug.
“Fine, I guess you leave me no choice,” he sighed. You felt one of your arms quickly pulled behind you and before you could utter a word you were being reduced to giggles by Luke’s scratching fingers.
“Luhuhuhuke!” you screeched, as you desperately tried to bring your arm down.
“Are you going to hang out with me now?” he tauntingly asked.
You were determined to not let Luke win this so-called fight. “Nohoho, yahoou brahaht!” you yelled.
He momentarily stopped as he swiveled your chair around so it faced him. His hands were placed on both armrests and he leaned in so your faces were inches apart, essentially pinning you to the chair.
“Well, you’re not going anywhere now.” He quieted his voice; which also made it deeper, into a more gravelly sound.
“No, because you’re blocking my way out,” you sarcastically commented.
“So that’s how you want to play it?” he cocked his head sideways at you.
“Wait, wait, no,” you quickly tried to back track.
“No what?” he innocently asked. But the smile on his face and the tone of his voice made it very clear that he was formulating a plan. You rolled your eyes at him.
“Don’t play dumb, I know you’re up to something.”
“You look like Jules when you do that,” he commented on your eye roll.
Your eyes widened in betrayal. “I do not!”
He laughed at your offended reaction as his smirk grew. “Do too.”
“Do not.”
“Do too.”
“Do not.”
“Do too,” he argued as his hands shot out towards your stomach. You squeaked at the contact. And doubled over to protect yourself, but you just trapped his hands.
“Thahat’s cheheating!” you argued.
Luke was unbothered by your argument as he continued scribbling across your stomach. “There’s no cheating if you don’t give me attention,” he retorted.
You decided to take your fate into your own hands as he wasn’t planning on saving you anytime soon. You somehow managed to slide forward and slip out to the side around him before he could grab you.
“Hey, that’s not fair,” he said as he ran after you.
“Says the one who said there were no rules,” you yelled as you ran away.
You quickly raced down the steps, you weren’t entirely certain where you were headed, but you raced around the corner and into the living room anyways.
You were met by a very confused Julie as you ran into the kitchen. “Who are you running from?”
You didn’t have the time to answer her question, but her question was answered in a few seconds anyways as Luke came around the corner.
You continued running until you reached the living room but you nearly crashed into Luke who had run the other way. You let out a yell of shock before racing the other way. Luke once again went the opposite way and the two of you met again in the dining room.
Luke leaned on his knees. “Which way are you going to go y/n?” he taunted.
You took this moment to catch your breath, but you never took your eyes off of him.
“If you guys break something, I’m not covering for you,” you heard Julie yell from the kitchen.
“Don’t worry we-” you started, but you stopped midsentence as you realized Luke had evidently had long enough of a break to recover. You attempted to get away, truly you did, but you didn’t move quite fast enough to escape his arms.
“Well you’re definitely not doing any school now,” he remarked as he picked you up bridal style.
You were certain you could feel his smirk focused on you but you wouldn’t meet his gaze.
“Alright fine, what are we doing?” you huffed.
“I’m so glad you asked, we are going to get ice cream,” Luke explained as he carried you out the door. The two of you quickly waved goodbye to your sister, who was watching with an amused smile.
“Wait a minute, but didn’t you say you had band practice today?” you questioned. Luke put you down so you could hop up into his jeep.
“Yes, but that was just to get you out of your room,” he revealed.
You were a little taken back but a little impressed. “So you lied to me to get me to hang out with you?” you questioned. You were only kidding of course, you knew you needed the shove from him anyways.
“So is this you saying you don’t want ice cream?” he teased as he hopped in on the other side.
“Are you blackmailing me Luke?” You put a hand on your heart in mock betrayal.
Luke mimicked your move. “Of course not, I would never do that.”
“Right,” you sarcastically said.
Luke let out a loud laugh and you soon couldn’t keep up the charade either. Your moment of bliss continued for quite some time until your laughter finally died down. When you eventually opened your eyes you were met by Luke’s piercing ones.
“You know it’s because I love you though, right?” He asked, as he interlaced your hands.
“Of course,” you responded, placing a kiss on the top of his hand. You held each other's gaze for a moment before finally tearing away.
“Now come on, I wanna get some ice cream,” you yelled. Luke let out a whoop of agreeance before pulling out of your driveway.
Ten short minutes later you arrived at your favorite ice cream place. It was a cute little retro themed diner with black and white tiles as flooring, neon signs, and bright red accents. You took your spot in the nook area in front of the window. It had a bright pink neon cloud sign right over top of it that you adored.
“How much do you wanna bet they know who we are?” Luke quietly asked you.
“I’m not betting against that, we’re probably their most frequent customers,” you argued.
Luke toothily grinned. “Yeah, probably, maybe they’ll make a neon sign just for us,” he added.
Soon enough a waitress approached the two of you. “So I’m assuming you’ll have two scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream and he’ll have three scoops of chocolate chip cookie dough with chocolate sauce on top?” she asked without hesitation. As you and Luke exchanged a glance you bit your lip to keep yourself from laughing.
“Yes, thank you,” Luke managed to get out.
Once the woman had nodded and walked off you finally let out the smile you had been holding on.
“Oh my god, she literally knew everything,” you laughed.
“It’s almost like we come here once a week,” he remarked.
“Almost,” you sarcastically agreed.
You continued chatting about an assortment of things like school, the band, your families, but mostly how hungry you were for ice cream. But after what felt like forever, when in reality was five minutes, your ice cream was brought to you.
“Enjoy!” The waitress told you before walking away.
Luke started shoveling his ice cream into his mouth. You dug into yours as you watched him for what you knew would soon be coming.
“Brain freeze!” Luke yelled.
“How do you never learn your lesson?” you laughed.
“It’s so cold,” Luke groaned.
You felt a little bad for him, but this had happened several times before; so it wasn’t bad enough for you to not laugh.
After his pain had subsided Lukethen focused his attention on you. “Why must you laugh at my pain?” His eyes narrowed as a smirk danced in them.
“Because you never learn your lesson,” you remarked, as you ate another spoonful.
“I’ll throw ice cream at you,” he threatened.
You smiled knowingly. “No you won’t.”
“And why is that?”
You looked quite satisfied with the fact that he had asked. “Because then you’ll have less ice cream to eat.”
He pointed an accusatory spoon at you. “You know me too well.”
“What kind of partner would I be if I didn’t?”
“Not you, that’s for sure,” he agreed.
You felt content with that answer, so you continued eating your ice cream. Once you had finished, the same waitress came around with your bill. “That’ll be eight dollars please.”
You attempted to pay for it, but Luke was a hair faster than you. “Thank you so much and have a great day!” the woman spoke.
“How do you keep beating me?” you uttered to Luke as you grabbed your stuff.
Luke shrugged, but you could tell he was quite pleased with himself. You rolled your eyes to yourself when you realized he wasn’t going to give you an answer.
As you once again hopped up in his jeep you noticed that the sun was starting to go down. You had originally hoped that you would just be finishing with school work right at that moment. But you now realized that wasn’t true.
“What are you thinking about?” Luke questioned as he put his car in drive.
“Just that this is where I needed to be.”

Cheer up!
Summary: anon requested the reader being down for no reason the sunset curve boys cheering her up
Words: 1.6k
Warnings: lots of platonic cuddles
Pairings: none
Did I expose my touch starvedness with this one? Yes. Also terribly sorry to the anon who requested this and then had to wait two weeks.
...........................................
Julie just kept walking by as she watched you flop down on your bed. You stayed face down, not really feeling the need to get up.
You thought you heard her lean on the frame in your doorway but when you turned around no one was there so you just shrugged it off and face planted back on your bed.
But pretty soon you jumped up when you felt a hand tap your shoulder.
“Luke!”
He grimaced. “Sorry didn’t mean to scare you,” he apologized.
“Didn’t Julie just tell you guys off about boundaries?” You narrowed your eyes at him.
He looked slightly guilty. “Yes, but there’s an exception today,” Luke hinted.
“And what would that be?” you grumbled.
“Because you’re all upset and shit,” he explained.
You half expected him to be joking but he was looking at you with complete seriousness. You felt your heart melt a little bit.
“And why do you know that?” you asked out of curiosity.
“Because you’ve been moping around all day!” Julie exclaimed. You turned to see your sister in the doorway.
“I have not!” you defended yourself. You looked to Luke for support but he was seemingly very interested in looking out your windows.
“Y/n you have barely left your room today, so you’re hanging out with them till you stop being a sad bitch,” she demanded.
You started to say how uncalled for she was being but she just ignored you and walked out.
You groaned and flopped back down on your bed. Luke’s lips twitched up in a way that you could tell he was trying not to laugh at you. “Oh no, I’m gonna need backup, aren’t I?” Luke rhetorically asked.
Before you could utter an ‘I’m fine’ the three were in your room. “Y/n you know what always makes me feel better when I’m sad?” Reggie asked. You rolled over to your side. “What Reggie?”
He started backing into a corner of your room. “Doing cannonballs.” He started sprinting over to your bed and you quickly rolled off with a yelp as you hit the ground.
Luke high fived Reggie, “Nice, we got her off the bed,” he cheered.
“You guys couldn’t have done that in a way that didn’t potentially send her to the hospital?” Alex asked. He pulled you to your feet, and you squeezed his hands gratefully.
“Meh, it was the more fun way,” Reggie shrugged.
Alex rolled his eyes. “Now come on, we’re going to the studio,” he told you.
You groaned, “No thanks, I’m just gonna stay here.” You could tell by the looks on their faces, that they were not going to give up that easily.
“Y/n I will carry you down there,” Reggie threatened. He crossed his arms, and Luke put his arm around him in agreement. You hopefully looked to Alex for defense but he shook his head at you.
“I’ll come on my own,” you agreed, not wanting to risk them dropping you.
Luke and Reggie shared a glance before trailing behind you to the studio. “Okay, so what do you guys want me to do in here?” you asked, as you walked through the doors.
“Well it’s more of what we want to show you,” Alex half explained.
You raised your eyebrows in confusion.
“We were waiting for a specific time to show you it, but we decided what better time than now,” Luke continued. Whatever it was, they all looked antsy to show it to you.
“So what is it?” Their excitement was starting to pass onto you.
“You have to close your eyes!” Reggie suddenly remembered.
With tight lips and suspicious eyes, you analyzed the three of them. Despite your love of the three you did not trust them for a second.
Luke tilted his head down and glanced up at you. “Come on y/n, you’ll be fine,” he insisted.
You nervously let your eyes shut. You could hear the three shuffling around, and you were pretty sure you heard someone trip; which you had to stifle a giggle at. You felt someone nearing you and you accidentally held your breath.
“Okay y/n you can open your eyes,” Reggie called out.
You opened them to see Alex hiding something behind his back, he pulled it out to show it to you. It was a black cropped leather jacket with little studs scattered on it, he turned it around to show the back which neatly said 'sunset curve manager' in white paint.
You took it into your hands. “Did you guys make this?” you asked in amazement.
“Well, we needed a little help from Flynn, but yeah the four of us made it,” Alex admitted.
You felt your eyes start to heat up. “Thank you guys.”
You couldn’t help but let your mind wander to how much time and effort they had probably put into your gift. Even though you weren’t actually a part of their band, they truly cared about you as if you were. You hugged the jacket to your chest, “I’m literally never taking this off,” you laughed, as your eyes started watering freely.
“Oh no, she’s crying. This is supposed to make her not sad,” Reggie joked. Luke mockingly elbowed him in the ribs.
“Do you need a hug?” Alex offered with open arms.
“Yeah, I’ll take one,” you agreed. You wrapped your arms around him, his sweatshirt was nice and soft, but still cold, since he was a ghost. You hoped you were leaking your tears onto his clothes.
“Can we get in on the hug?” Reggie hopefully asked.
“Sure,” you responded. Before you could move to let them in, they decided it was just best to squish you between them. Luke was to your left and Reggie was to your right. They all tightly squeezed you, as if it was the last time they were gonna get a hug. You could feel all of their hands against your back and you let yourself relax into their arms. As much as you were enjoying the closeness, after a while, it did feel like they were cutting off your air flow.
“Guys, I think you might be killing me,” you announced.
“Oh trust me it’s not that painful you’ll be fine,” Alex told you. You couldn’t currently see his face, but you were certain that he was smirking.
“I love you guys, but I’m not dying today,” you retorted.
They all backed up to give you some room to breathe. “So you wanna talk about what’s wrong?” Luke suggested.
You took a moment to put your feelings into words. “I don’t know, I guess I don’t really have a reason; I’ve just been really down today,” you admitted.
“You know what helps me with that?” Reggie asked.
You turned to him with wide eyes. “Reggie if you are about to almost land on me again I swear to god,” you threatened.
Reggie couldn’t help but laugh at that, and you heard Luke snicker. “No, I was going to say watching a comedy tv show,” he explained.
“Oh, nevermind then,” you backpedaled.
“Come on, I’ll set up the projector,” Luke offered.
“I really don’t want to bother you guys though,” you brought up.
“It’s not bothering if we want to spend time with you, and besides you would really be letting them down they haven’t been able to have a movie night in weeks,” Alex said.
“Are you manipulating me into self care right now?” you questioned.
Alex shrugged and his lips quirked up. “Maybe a little bit.”
“Wow, that’s a low blow for you Alex,” you scoffed. He just shrugged again. But his plan worked, you sat yourself down on the floor, and gladly took the blanket Reggie gave you.
“So what are we watching?” Luke asked the group of you.
“Parks and Rec?” you suggested.
“Sounds good to me,” Alex agreed, and Reggie shook his head.
Luke managed to have minimal struggles getting the show to play but he eventually did and came to sit next to the three of you.
It didn’t take long for all of you to be in a big cuddle pile on the floor along with various pillows and blankets. You were pretty sure Reggie was snoring by the fourth episode. Luke and Alex were practically laying on top of each other. Reggie’s head rested on top of your legs and Luke’s arm was resting on top of your stomach. In that moment you were perfectly comfy and completely happy. The blissful happiness wrapped a warmth around your body, that felt very similar to the hug from earlier. The warmth gently put you to sleep within minutes.
You awoke what felt like minutes later to the lights being flicked on. “Y/n Dad says it’s time for dinner!” Carlos called.
You groaned, “Carlos I was sleeping.”
That did not make Carlos look any more sympathetic. “And we are trying to be eating,” Carlos retorted. The boys started stirring at hearing speaking.
“Fine I’m getting up,” you surrendered.
“So?” Carlos questioned.
“So what?” you asked, as you grabbed your new jacket.
“Did they make you not a sad bitch?”
“Carlos! You can’t say that word!” You heard Luke start loudly laughing behind you.
“Well did they?” he intently asked.
You glanced back at the boys adoringly, “Yes, they did.”

Nighttime Confidence
Summary: reader and the band are having a sleepover in Julie's studio and the late hours are starting to get to the reader
Pairings: luke patterson x reader
Words: 1.9k
Warnings: lil bit of cussing and tickling and the reader doing a minorly dangerous stunt
"Oh my god I'm gonna fucking die," you groaned.
Luke pretended to be hurt. "Do you really not trust me that much?"
"Yes!"
"Maybe I'll just drop you on purpose," he offered.
"Don't you dare," you said, backing up a couple steps.
He grinned at you and pulled you back, "Trust me you're gonna be fine," he assured you.
It wasn’t that you didn’t trust him, you just didn’t trust that you were going to land on his shoulders, without breaking anything.
But your worries began to fade into more of an anticipation as your friends watched you with excited looks on their faces. Besides, you were doing it in front of a couch for a reason, right?
“Okay, I’ll do it,” you reluctantly agreed.
“Yes!” cried Reggie.
Julie just facepalmed, “I’m not sure if it would be better to watch or just look away.”
“Julie, you gotta watch, you’re the only alive person here who could save me,” you realized.
“Like I was gonna let this happen without recording it anyways,” she scoffed.
You shrugged, ”Fair enough.”
“Alright y/n you ready?” Luke asked, squatting lower to the ground.
You didn’t know if it was the fact that it was three am, or that the coffee was kicking in, or if your boyfriend's confident energy was contagious, but suddenly you felt like you could conquer anything. “I don’t know, are you ready Patterson?”
He quickly yet slyly winked at you before motioning to jump.
“Ready, set, GO!” Reggie yelled like a car girl in nascar.
You took off at a bit of a run before attempting to bounce off the pillows and onto Luke’s shoulders. As you soared through the air for a moment you could’ve sworn you heard Alex yell ‘I can’t watch this!’. But only seconds later you came in a rather harsh contact with the couch.
You groaned, but quickly got up so as to not worry any of your band mates.
“Y/n are you okay?” Alex worried.
“Yes Alex I’m fine, really, that’s why we put the couch there,” you giggled.
“How many fingers am I holding up?” Luke asked.
“Technically none since usually that theory only applies to living people, but you’re holding up three,” you concluded.
Reggie couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, I think she’s fine.”
Luke smirked at you. “Maybe a little too fine.”
“What is that supposed to mean beanie boy?” you teased back. You were getting used to your so-called midnight confidence.
“Oh so that’s how you wanna play it?” he asked, arching an eyebrow.
“I’ve been playing it, it just took you a while to catch up,” you taunted. Julie snorted and gasped before slapping her hand over her mouth.
As your eyes went back to Luke, you realized your first mistake was taking your focus off of him considering he was running right at you. You yelped before vaulting the couch.
You now had it separating the two of you.
“Come on y/n which way you wanna go?” he sang.
The look he was giving made you want to melt into a puddle of embarrassed goop but that was not a realistic solution, so you would have to come up with something a little more tangible.
You looked around the area to scan for something helpful, the instruments were put away; the other three were on the other side of the room, and had not bothered to get up from the floor to watch, and the studio doors were shut.
Luke recognized your analyzing face. “You can’t outrun me, I’m a ghost remember?”
Your nighttime confidence had a second wave. “No, but I can try.” You vaulted back over the couch and went running as fast as you could in the opposite direction of Luke. You made it about five steps until you felt his hands wrap around your midsection. Another yelp escaped your lips.
He quickly threw you over his shoulder, not unlike a sack of potatoes.
You tried to sound angry but you couldn’t stop laughing for the life of you. “Put me down!” you insisted.
Luke pretended he couldn’t hear you, but suddenly you got an idea. You stretched downwards to taser his sides. The minute you did he nearly dropped you, but he managed to muffle his laughter.
“Now that’s just dirty,” Luke commented.
“Says the one holding me like a potato sack, asshole” you quipped.
“She’s got a point with that one,” Julie chirped up.
Luke pretended to scowl at her but she just stuck her tongue out at him.
Luke finally put you back down on the ground.
“Thank you?” You were highly suspicious that he gave up that easily, and from the looks on your bandmates faces it looked like they didn’t believe him either.
“You’re welcome,” he said innocently, but his wide mouthed grin showed an ulterior motive; though you weren’t quite sure what that was yet.
You cautiously moved back to the rest of your friends. You didn’t take your eyes off of him until you were safely planted in between Reggie and Julie.
“So if Luke promises not to attack anyone, do you guys wanna watch a movie?” Julie suggested, and threw him a fake glare.
“All of you guys were clearly entertained by that, so you can’t even pretend to be mad at me,” Luke concluded.
“No, I’m pretty sure that was just you,” Alex retorted.
“And I’m pretty sure we can,” Julie accidentally finished.
Luke held his hands up in surrender, realizing he was very outnumbered. “Alright, you’ve proved your point.”
“So movie night?” Reggie asked.
“Definitely, but what do we want to watch?” Julie wondered aloud.
“Can I vote for Star wars?” Reggie hinted.
“That’s fair, anybody else have any ideas?” she asked.
“Oh, we could watch an animated disney movie?” Alex suggested.
“Which one, isn’t there like a shit ton of them?” Luke looked to you and Julie for help.
“Yeah, they have a lot,” you confirmed.
“So either disney or star wars?” Alex echoed.
“Technically they are both disney since disney owns star wars now,” you pointed out.
“They what now?” Reggie gasped.
Alex and Luke exchanged a nervous glance.
“Oh, sorry, yeah they bought them out in 2012,” you explained.
“Well now we gotta watch a star wars movie to see if they’re even good anymore!” Reggie exclaimed.
Julie scrunched up her eyebrows before agreeing. “Alright, Star Wars movie it is, I guess.”
Soon enough you were all scattered across the studio floor in a big pile of blankets and pillows, as the Rise of Skywalker played on the 'hologram projector'. Who would’ve thought that movie night was the real use of it?
Reggie seemed to be enjoying himself. It did take a little bit of explaining and some googling to get him caught up on the twenty five years that he missed, but he seemed to be fully engrossed in the movie.
Julie had never seen any Star Wars movies, so she was a little lost at first, but she seemed to really like the characters. Alex was half asleep near Reggie, it seemed like he was enjoying the movie, but the drummer was obviously very tired. Luke was propped up against the back of the couch, and you were sitting next to Julie.
You looked back at him to exchange a quick glance before turning back to the movie. You saw Julie watch you with an amused look in her eyes.
“What?” you softly asked.
“Go!” Julie whisper yelled to you.
“What?” you whispered.
“Go sit with your boyfriend.” She motioned back at him.
“No, I told you I was going to sit with you,” you insisted.
She narrowed her eyes. “Then why are you making googly eyes at him?” she asked.
You pulled your jaw back up. “I was not!” you defended.
Julie grinned, “Trust me, I think I can manage by myself up here, go back with him.”
“I’m not just gonna abandon you like that,” you argued.
“Y/n I love you, but so help me if you don’t go sit with him you are going to end up as a ghost really soon,” Julie threatened.
Not really wanting the wrath of Julie upon you, you picked up your blanket to move beside Luke.
“Hey princess,” he greeted you.
“Hi handsome.” You placed your head on his shoulder.
“You wanna know something y/n?” Luke asked.
“Mmm hmm, what’s that?”
“Reggie already watched this movie, he just wanted to watch it again because you seemed to like it,” Luke divulged.
You furrowed your brows. “You’re kidding right?”
“Nope, he binged all of them the second he heard there were more.”
“Wow, we must be really good friends if he’s willing to give up the first trilogy for me,” you commented. While it was intended as a joke, it didn’t mean you didn’t see the sentiment behind it.
“We all love you, you know that. And you love us,” he whispered.
“That’s true, and most especially you.” You placed a quick kiss on his lips but even the small moment gave you a warm feeling through your body.
“Hey y/n?” he asked.
“Yeah?”
“Do you remember earlier?”
You thought for a moment about what the hell he could be talking about until you saw the devilish smirk on his face, and you realized that you had yet again made a mistake.
Before you could make a move to get away he had already pulled you on top of him.
He pulled your shirt up slightly.
“Don’t you dare tickle me,” you threatened.
“I mean I wasn’t going to do that, but now that you mention it.” As he trailed off you felt a hand start to glide across your stomach and your breath hitched in your throat.
“I whihll khihhill yhohhuhu,” you giggled out. You were trying to be as quiet as possible so you wouldn’t wake Alex.
“You do know I’m a ghost, right?” he reminded you.
You choose not to answer that one in favor of holding your mouth shut so your laughter would stay in.
“You know what ghosts are really good at though-” he paused; you were absolutely certain you could hear his smile.
“Ghosting.”
You felt his fingertips lightly make contact with your hip bones. You tried to squirm away but Luke was strong, and he had a good hold on you. But when you felt his hands start to glide across your hips, you grew desperate enough that you managed to roll off of him.
He looked rather smug at your giggly smile as you laid on the floor.
“I hate you,” you breathed out.
Luke almost let out a loud laugh at that one. “As tempting as it probably is, no you don’t.”
“No, no I don’t,” you admitted with a sparkle in your eyes.
You crawled up to him again. “Because I will always love you.”
He looked into your eyes with a serious demeanor. “I love you too, always.”
“Good, so we both agree that we’re stuck with each other,” you joked.
Luke placed his head on your shoulder. “Forever and ever y/l/n.”
You rested yours against his. “Forever and ever Patterson.”

Just Rest
Summary: The reader is sick but is determined to stay in school and it takes her friends to get her to go home and her boyfriend, Luke, to actually relax.
Words: 1.4k
Warnings: none except maybe a little bit of over working and tickling
...........................................
Julie wasn't really paying attention to the world around her until she noticed her two best friends having a conversation at least 18 feet apart for some reason.
"No you are not going to your next class you're going home," Flynn argued.
"Flynn, I'm fine!" you yelled back. You wouldn't have chosen to yell, especially with how your throat was feeling; but Flynn wouldn't come within 12 feet of you.
You noticed Julie approaching and saw your moment to cry for help.
"Julie please tell Fl-" you had started to say but Flynn was quicker than you.
"Please tell y/n to go home because she's sick." She proudly crossed her arms at the fact that she beat you.
Julie turned to you with her eyebrows raised both from confusion but her lips quirked up.
"Y/n are you sick?" she asked, as she walked up to you.
"No, I just have a cold," you stated; though you could feel the congestion building in your head
"You look miserable," Julie commented.
"Right?!? That's what I said!" Flynn yelled.
You scoffed and rolled your eyes, "Seriously, guys I'm fine."
Julie knew how stubborn you were but she was just as stubborn as you, and she was quick on her feet.
"If I check your forehead and it's warm, you are going home."
"Fine," you agreed.
Julie placed the back of her hand on the top of your forehead.
You mentally willed your forehead not to be warm.
She paused for a moment trying to decipher if it was warm.
"Flynn come here," Julie said.
"Oh nuh-uh I love her but I am not getting sick," Flynn quipped.
Julie bit down on a chuckle, "I'll put on hand sanitizer, I just can't tell if she's warm."
Flynn reluctantly let Julie touch her forehead before she walked over to you.
"Oh yep, you're definitely warm," she concluded.
"Okay yes, I do feel sick, but I have a math quiz next period," you admitted.
"Y/n the math quiz will be waiting for you when you get back, I swear," Flynn reassured you.
"But I need to-" you started.
"Y/n I will drag your ass out of this school; we need you on Friday for the gig so go home and rest. Please?"
To be honest you were exhausted and didn't have your usual resolve. So you agreed.
You walked into the main office, which confirmed you had a fever before driving yourself home.
When you got home you made yourself a warm cup of tea. It wasn't very good but it did make your throat feel better so it was a sacrifice you were willing to make. You changed into short sleeves and shorts in case you started getting heat flashes from your temperature. You then settled into bed to watch netflix for a bit. You couldn’t really decide what you wanted to watch but you ended up going for a baking show. After a few hours of lounging around you figured you had taken enough of a break and figured it was time to do some homework. You pulled out this week’s history homework as you started reading the chapter and answering questions. After a short while you saw that someone was trying to facetime you, you looked over to see it was Julia calling.
“Hey Jules how was school?” you asked.
“It was good. I just wanted to check up on you and see how you were doing,” she said as you watched her walk into the studio.
“I mean I’m still not feeling the best but I’ve been in my bed the past couple of hours.” You shifted the camera so you could lay down and still see your phone.
“Y/n?” Julie asked.
“Yeah?” you responded absentmindedly stoking your blanket.
“Did I just see the history homework for this week?”
You grimaced and sighed. “Would you believe me if I said no?”
Julie groaned, “Y/n first of all you are lucky I love you and secondly, do not make me send your boyfriend over there,” she threatened, in a halfway joking manner.
You saw her turn and speak and you knew that she had to be talking to one of the guys since you couldn’t see them through phones.
After a few seconds of mumbling Julie turned back around to face you. “Luke says he is more than happy to keep you company.” She tried to keep her face neutral but she had a certain amount of smugness that you couldn’t help but notice.
You looked in the general direction of where you assumed Luke to be. “It’s okay Luke, thank you, but I’m fine. I’m just going to finish this history homework and then I’ll be done,” you promised.
“Luke wants to know when that’s due,” she said, with a knowing look in her eyes.
You tightly pulled your lips in before mumbling that it was next Tuesday; suddenly you chose to become very interested with your pillows.
You didn’t see it but Julie had turned around to talk to the guys. “I didn’t want to have to do this but we need her for Friday and we can spare you today, so Luke, you’re up.”
In a second your very smug looking boyfriend was in your room. He promptly flopped onto your bed, and partially landed on top of you.
You winced slightly and a slight hiss of pain escaped your mouth, but it definitely let Julie know that he was there
“Okay great, since you are a ghost you won’t be able to catch what she has.”
“You got it Jules.” Luke agreed, but now she couldn’t hear him.
“I’m going to go practice, and Luke your job is to make sure she rests. Bye, love you two.”
“Bye love you too,” you said as she waved. You sat yourself slightly up to look at your boyfriend. You propped yourself up with your hands since you couldn’t currently move your legs since they were being layed on.
“How’s it going down there?” you asked.
“Good, your bed is really soft,” Luke commented as he buried his face into it.
You tried to pick up your homework quietly but Luke quickly caught on to what was happening and snatched it out of your hands.
“Hey!” You tried to snatch it back but Luke held it behind his back.
After several failed attempts at trying to get it back Luke cracked into a smile.
“When are you going to give up, y/l/n?” he asked, chuckling.
“When you give me my homework back, Patterson,” you retorted, trying to make another grab for your papers. As you reached up to grab it, you felt his hand tweak your side and you shot back down.
“I’m sick, so that’s not allowed.”
Luke pinned you in place with his eye contact. “Well then you are definitely not ‘allowed’ to be doing homework, especially when it’s due a week in advance.”
“But Luke-” you had started to say but Luke reached over and tasered your ribs.
You squeaked but you otherwise couldn’t move.
Luke got up to put your work back in your backpack before climbing back on top of your bed again.
He smirked over at you. “And if you try to touch it again, I will tickle you.”
You raised your hands in surrender.
“Yeah that’s what I thought,” he said as he crawled over top of you and softly kissed your forehead.
He rolled over to your side and pulled you closer into him. You were ever so thankful when you and Julie figured out you could touch them, cuddling had practically become a pastime for you and Luke.
As you drew closer to him he wrapped his arms around your midsection. He asked if he could rub your back, which you said yes to, because you could never turn it down.
Luke stoked up and down your back, ever so lightly. You layed like this for minutes, both enjoying one another’s presence.
When he hit spot in between your shoulder blade and spine that made you melt further into him, he took pity on your weakened, sick state, and choose not to comment it,
“Do you still feel like you need to do your homework now?” he teased.
“Mhmm, maybe,” you sleepily said.
“Is that so?” he asked, though it most likely rhetorical as had moved one of his hands to lightly scribble at the back of your neck.
“Adachckk! Okhahah, nohohoh!” you giggled out.
“Mhmm, I think you might need some more convincing princess,” Luke mocked.
“Nohohoh!” you screeched; but your laughter was already starting to get wheezy and you were coughing, so Luke stopped.
He pulled the blankets tighter around the two of you, and pulled you in closer. “Goodnight gorgeous,” he whispered; and placed a tender kiss on your lips. Soon enough you were a mess of tangled limbs, but you were fast asleep in Luke’s arms.

Luke Attack
Summary: Reader keeps pushing Luke's buttons and unexpectedly gets what they deserve
Warnings: a LOT of tickling (like if you don't like it I wouldn't recommend reading this)
...........................................
The garage slowly started to empty. Julie had to do homework. Reggie probably went to go follow Ray. And soon enough Alex left, which left just you and Luke.
You twirled one of Alex’s drumsticks and stared up at the ceiling. “Do you ever wonder where drums originated from?” you asked.
Luke paused putting the equipment away to look at you, “What?” he asked, fighting not to laugh.
“I don’t know, like they are super cool sounding now, but like what if the first they just kinda put some materials together and it didn’t even make a noise?”
Luke laughed and shrugged. “A little random, but you’ve got a point.”
You continued twirling the stick for a couple seconds, but you realized it wasn’t quite entertaining enough.
“Hey, Luke?”
“Yeah?”
“Why do you have so many muscle shirts?”
He glanced at you, unsure of where this was going.
You leaned your back against the couch. “I’m just saying you don’t have to flex on us all the time.”
He cocked his head at you. “You’ve definitely stolen my shirts before.”
He had a point. But you weren’t trying to make a point. You couldn’t care less about his fashion choices; you were just trying to annoy him.
“Yeah, but at least I didn’t squeak at the last show.” You arched your eyebrows, challenging him.
He turned towards you and pointed an accusatory finger. “You were right next to me, you know that was the mic.”
You pursed your lips in an attempt to mimic confusion. “Mhmm, I don’t know if I believe that.”
Luke jerked his head up and took a few steps toward you with a potentially intimidating look in his eyes.
He leaned down to get in your eyesight from the couch. “You know that’s a lie.”
You shrugged, but you couldn’t help the small grin appearing on your face. “Maybe but I mean, we could never know for certain.”
Luke jutted out his chin, “Oh really, because I seem to remember Julie having a video of you falling off a stage.”
You unfortunately felt the heat rising to your face. “Hey, that was one time!” you exclaimed.
Luke chuckled and slyly smirked. “That’s what I thought.” He did a 180 and walked back to the other side of the garage.
Despite you being slightly flustered, you weren’t going to forget your mission.
“At least I didn’t break one of Ray’s plates.”
Luke back peddled and did another 180. “You were there, we watched Reggie do it.”
You met his gaze and tried not to squirm. “I seem to recall you being awfully close to the incident, to be completely innocent.”
He cocked his head at you and stared you down with a sort of fire in his eyes. “I was telling Reggie to stop messing with the plate.”
“I don’t know, seems a little bit sus to me.”
Luke slowly approached you, as he still held eye contact. And even though you watched him the whole time you still were trying to work out what had just happened as you felt hands gliding across your stomach.
You squirmed around like a fish in water before exploding into a giggle fit.
“I knew you were ticklish!” Luke yelled in delight.
“Nononononon Lhuhuke!” you protested.
“What, is someone just a little too ticklish to be starting arguments?” He tilted his head as if he was waiting for a legitimate answer.
Unsurprisingly, the only answer he got out of you, was the middle finger.
Luke chuckled at that but it soon turned to an evil grin. “Oh I think you are definitely too ticklish to be snarky.”
His hands snuck their way up into your armpits and began to roam.
Luke was grateful that the garage had somewhat thick walls, because someone might have thought you were being killed by the scream that came out of your mouth.
You would’ve tried to come up with some sort of remark towards him but the claws in your hallows made it impossible to focus on anything but laughing.
But, through your tickle haze you heard Luke speak. “I’ll make you a deal, if you tell me where the rest of your spots are I just might leave your armpits alone. If not, well I’m not in a hurry to go anywhere.”
He slightly let up for you to talk.
You decided that the consequences of telling him would be future you’s problem. “Fhehet, bahahck of thihighs, ahahand nehehck!”
“That was a big mistake, but I guess you didn’t have much of a choice huh?”
Oh he was grinning now.
Before you could even think about moving he already had your shoes and socks off.
“Maybe next time you’ll think twice before being a little shit,” he playfully teased.
He then did a test swipe across your toes, which he almost got kicked in the face for. He readjusted his grip in one hand and scribbled on a toe on the other hand.
Your body couldn’t control where it was going. Luke was surprised you didn’t fall off the couch. You howled in laughter and you would occasionally cackle as he lightly scribbled across your toes.
As a last ditch effort to maintain some of your quip you yelled, “fuhuUHUHck yhohouhu!”
Luke raised his eyebrows in surprise before turning to an amused smile. “I would maybe choose your words a little bit better next time you’re in this position.”
His hands quickly headed up to your stomach and armpits and you realized the error in your ways; but it was too late now.
You shrieked before descending into silent laughter. One of hands curled in and out across your stomach as the other spidered at your armpits. You squirmed around but he had you tightly pinned, you weren’t getting out of this, easily.
“I GIHIHIVE!” you screeched.
Luke chuckled at your predicament. “Oh you give now, not when you were trying to pick a fight?” he mocked.
“YEHEHES IIHIM SHOREHEY!”
He decided you had enough and let up on the tickling. He still sat on top of you as you caught your breath. Eventually, he slid off. He almost turned around but quickly squatted down next to you to pull your shirt up a little bit.
Before you could stop him, you felt his wet lips touch your stomach; and he blew as hard as humanly possible. You screeched and then giggled as your back arched, which coincidentally brought you closer to the ticklish vibrations.
“Sorry just had to try that,” he apologized, not sounding very apologetic at all.
He looked over at you and almost giggled himself at your giggly sleepy state.
“Come on, I’m carrying you back to your house.”
“No, Luke, someone could see me floating,” you protested.
“Do you really want to try to start another fight with me?” he asked. He wiggled his fingers at you ominously.
Your eyes widened in fear. “NO-nononononon! Nevermind, you can carry me.”
Luke laughed, and picked you up bridal style.
Let’s just say, he knew how to win against you now.

Our Stars Collided- Part 1
Tumblr media
THIS IS THE SURPRISE IM WRITING A JATP SERIES AND IM SO EXCITED. This first one kinda sucks at first, but I swear it gets better the more you get into it.
Words: 2.1k
Summary: The reader has been wondering who the phantoms in the band are. But when she comes face to face with a phantom will she get her answers? (This does not follow all the events of the series)
Pairing: Luke x reader
Warnings: none, except bad writing
...........................................
You had lunch this period, you were one track minded in that moment, and b-lining for the cafeteria. But as you passed the lockers your half run nearly turned to a stop.
You had made eye contact with none other than the cute boy from Julie's hologram band. Except every single person in the hallway was acting like they couldn't see him. Which in their defense, they probably couldn't, you were probably going insane.
According to Julie they were holograms. But when everyone else had gasped in shock that they had suddenly disappeared, you continued to watch them. And yet no one else noticed. From that moment on you were convinced yourself that it had been a figment of your imagination. Until now, that was.
You figured it might raise suspicion if you continued staring into what everyone else believed to be nothing. So you hid behind a pole and watched.
Julie seemed to be just talking on the phone to everyone else. But you watched as she continued on her conversation with the supposed hologram. Their conversation wasn't anything interesting, it seemed to just be about what song they were playing in a few weeks; and the boy apologized for being somewhat difficult to work with. As you watched, another sophomore, named Nick approached. You peeked around the pole to see where the boy went and saw that he was staring right at you.
You flew back behind your hiding place. You felt your pulse quickening though you weren't sure if it was because you were afraid he'd seen you or for a different reason entirely.
After you'd calmed yourself down you opened your eyes, you saw the boy standing right in front of you, only a couple feet away. You clapped a hand over your mouth to keep yourself from screaming.
Wait, you can see me?" the boy asked. He sounded just as freaked out as you felt.
You nodded your head, with your hand still on your mouth.
The boy's eyes went wide for a moment. But then he looked like he was deep in thought. "Why can you see me?" he asked curiously.
Your expression went blank for a moment. How could you answer a question you didn't even know? Also did someone give you drugs, or was this actually happening?
"I have no idea, also are you even real?" You asked. You reached out to poke his shoulder, and you felt nothing. "Nope, I'm definitely imagining this," you said aloud to yourself.
You turned and started to walk away. "Wait!" the boy yelled.
"Yes, imaginary person who I have probably made up in my head?" you asked.
He talked as he walked to catch up with you. "I'm real, I'm very, very real. I'm just also dead."
You crossed your arms and faced him. "So you're a ghost?" you asked.
"Yes."
You crossed your arms. "So prove it, how do I know you're not a figment of my imagination?"
The boy paused for a moment to think. "Umm I know there's a student named Julie that goes here and she has fourth period dance class, and you probably don't know that, so how would a figment of your imagination know that?" After finishing his trail of thought the boy looked over at you with a hopeful smile.
You thought over it for a moment which was mildly difficult with that face looking at you. "Yeah, okay, that adds up I suppose." His smile turned into a slight smugness that he had convinced you.
"See, I told you I was real."
You pushed down the heat attempting to rise to your cheeks.
"But how?" you asked.
"Wellllllllll that's a little bit more of a complicated question," Luke explained, as he itched the back of his head.
Somehow, you were still getting more confused. "How is it complicated?"
"That's kinda a long story. But, I can explain some of it," he offered.
You gestured to him that the floor was his.
"Oh, not right now because I'm pretty sure I've made like at least five people think you're crazy already." He gestured around to people at their lockers who were staring at you.
"But I can tell you later, if you meet me at Julie's house, after school," he promised.
"Okay, yeah, I'm not doing anything, and I've been there before so I know where it is," you agreed.
"Cool! I never caught your name by the way," he mentioned.
"Oh it's y/n, and you are?"
"Luke, and I'll see you then!" He waved at you and in a poof he was gone.
It was definitely not a normal way to start your lunch. But you supposed that from the day that they had performed your life hadn't been normal.
Three hours later you found yourself standing in front of Julie Molina's house. You were silently hoping that this was the right house, because that would be a very interesting conversation if it wasn't. Luckily enough, Julie was the one who opened the door.
"Hi, um I'm here to see Luke?" you hesitantly asked.
"Oh yeah, he told me about you, come on I’ll show you where he is.” She closed the door and started leading you through a garden, as you tried not to read too deeply into what she had said. Eventually, you walked down a set of steps to some sort of studio. As she opened the wide white entrance doors you saw all three of the guys you had watched play with Julie a week ago.
You stood in shock for a moment. So you hadn’t been seeing things! You only came back to reality when you heard Julie say your name.
“Meet Reggie, Alex, and you already met Luke. So Reggie and Alex, meet y/n,” she introduced.
“Hello!” Reggie waved.
“Hi,” said Alex.
“Hi,” you responded.
“So now is your time to ask questions without someone thinking you are going insane,” Luke offered, as he sat down on a couch.
“Okay, so you guys are ghosts, right?”
The three all nodded their heads.
“But for some reason Julie and I can see you?” you observed.
“Yes, but we don’t actually know the reason for that. Or to a lot of things for that matter. But we think it might mean that you two are related to our pasts in some sort of way,” the one you remembered to be Alex, suggested.
“Okay, interesting. Do you know why people can see you when you play?” you inquired.
“No, I mean we think it’s because we are connected to Julie and that we are still connected with music, but other than that we have no idea,” Luke said.
You continued asking them questions for quite some time, until you couldn’t think of anything anymore. Granted, there was still a lot you didn’t know, but that was fine with you. Afterall, asking someone how they died felt a little too personal; even if they did make you think you were losing your mind for a week straight.
Eventually your conversation diverged into other matters like school, and music, and of course food.
“You play the guitar?” Luke asked in surprise.
You turned to him from a conversation you were having with Alex. “I mean, I’m not as good as you, but yes,” you admitted.
“Wait, you play guitar TOO?” Reggie asked in awe.
You had to laugh at the sudden fascination with you. “Yes, I do.”
Reggie seemed to be ecstatic. “You have to play something; here, use Luke’s guitar,” he offered.
Alex lightly slapped his arm and you watched the corner of your eye as Luke muttered something along the lines of what the hell Reggie.
“It’s okay, I don’t wanna steal someone else’s equipment, and I usually only play in my room by myself. Besides, you probably don’t wanna hear me anyways,” you pointed out.
“You don’t have to play, but that’s b.s. I’ve heard you’d play and you’re obviously talented,” Julie chimed in. You were slightly embarrassed but you accepted the compliment. Soon enough your conversation died down and it was decided that you should probably head back home as it was getting late. You waved goodbye to the boys and told Julie you would see her tomorrow.
As you ate supper, you realized that even though you had one of the most eventful days in history you could tell no one about it, including your family. Otherwise they would think you were just as insane as you thought you were. But you supposed there were worse problems to have then knowing a band that you couldn’t talk about.
As you got ready for bed you decided to bring out your acoustic guitar.
You started strumming before realizing there was a particular song you hadn’t played in a long while. It took you a couple attempts to remember the fingering for it, but once you did the music started to flow out of you.
“When the rain is blowing in your face, and the whole world is on your case. I could offer you a warm embrace to make you feel my love.”
You then jumped to the melody at a higher octave. You decided to go all out and sing it to your heart's content.
“I know you haven’t made your mind up yet, but I would never do you wrong. I’ve known it from the moment that we met. No doubt in my mind where you belong.”
You strummed a couple more chords before placing your guitar down. You turned around and came inches away from Luke’s face.
“Shit!” you yelled on instinct. You paused for a moment to make sure no one had heard you, but you didn’t hear anything.
“What are you two doing here?” you hissed.
Reggie was the first to open his mouth. “Well uh you see here, we actually have a very good reason for being here. Yep, and Luke’s going to tell you that reason.” He clapped his bandmate on the shoulder, and Luke glared at him.
“Y/n I’m really sorry, but he really wanted to hear you play. And I was super curious too, and we just couldn’t resist,” Luke apologized.
You took a look at them still wanting to be mad, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. They looked not unlike sad puppies.
You fake sighed, but you couldn’t fight the smile on your face. “I guess I can let you guys off the hook this time.”
“I swear it won’t happen again,” Reggie promised.
“Next time just knock instead of scaring the shit out of me, okay?” you asked.
“You got it, though I can’t say we won’t scare you. I mean we are ghosts,” Luke teased, with a glint in his eyes that you couldn’t figure out.
You amusedly rolled your eyes at him, “Whatever, Luke.”
The next day you couldn’t really focus on your clases. All you could think about were theories on why you could see Alex, Reggie, and Luke and why everyone else couldn’t. By the time lunch rolled around you were very thankful Julie was in the same lunch period as you.
“Hey!” she greeted you.
“What’s up?” you asked, shutting your locker.
“Just something I want to show you, follow me,” she gestured. You didn’t know where she was taking you but you just shrugged and went with it. She led you over to the next set of lockers and down a set of steps to a pretty much vacant part of the school. And once you turned the corner you heard a very loud ‘surprise!’
“Aeeehp!” you yelled in shock.
“Oh my god, you guys have got to stop doing that,” you said to the three.
“Yeah, they never do,” Julie sighed.
“But anyways, we brought you down here to tell you, drumroll please?” Julie requested.
They all started stomping their feet.
“We want you to join Julie and the Phantoms!” Alex announced.
“Wait, what?” you excitedly asked.
“Well after the little stunt that Luke and Reggie pulled, which I do not approve of by the way,” she sent a glare back at the two of them, “we had a band meeting and decided that we want you in the band, that is of course if you want to be in the band?”
You were positively beaming. “Yes of course I do! But what do you want me to do? You already have two singers and an electric guitarist.”
“Well we always have room for more singing, and I’m just lead guitar. We used to have three guitars in sunset curve, so why not in Julie and the Phantoms?” Luke questioned.
“I’m game if you guys are.”
“So you’re in?” Reggie asked.
You smiled brightly, “I’m so in.”

Our Stars Collided- Part 3
Tumblr media
Summary: Luke and the reader are spending even more time with each other. Luke starts something without thinking of the payback of doing that to the reader
Words: 3k
Warnings: cuss words
Pairing: luke patterson x reader
...........................................
Today had been another great day at practice, the five of you had finally started working on Edge of Great and it was already coming together really well. You were really starting to find your way in the band.
But you were not doing quite as hot in school. Your grades weren’t slipping but you were a little bit stressed with everything you had on your plate.
You got back home around seven and went straight to doing your homework. You didn’t have that much, but it was just time consuming stuff.
You got done with your short essay and you were halfway done with math, when you swore you heard a knock on your window. You ignored it since it was most likely just a tree branch, and you went back to your homework.
It took you a couple seconds, but you suddenly remembered that there weren't any tree branches in front of your windows. You whipped around to see Luke sitting on your roof.
You pushed your window open, “What the hell are you doing up here?” you questioned. You were somewhat amused, but also just confused.
He smiled, but he seemed more nervous than usual. “I wanted to show you something,” he divulged.
“I know I said I hated the popping in, but this is somehow worse,” you conceded.
At your words, he poofed into your room.
“So what did you want to show me?” you asked.
“Well it’s going to require a cd player, and Julie told me those aren’t as big anymore. Do you have one?” He glanced around.
“Yeah I have one in my computer,” you told him. You held your hand out for the cd and he handed it to you. You recognized the labeling as their original band, Sunset Curve.
“No way, is this your old demo?” you exclaimed.
“Yeah, I just thought, you might wanna hear it since you’re playing with us now,” he suggested. He shoved his hands into his pockets.
“Definitely!” you agreed.
You put the cd into your computer, and you pulled up the soundtrack. The first song started to play and you were already impressed. They definitely had a slightly different vibe back then. It was more rock than the rock and pop blend all of you created now.
Luke had his legs pulled up close to him. “What do you think?” he asked, as he fidgeted with one of his rings.
“It’s really good!” you chirped out.
“You should hear the other songs on that one, that one’s nothing in comparison to the next one,” he bragged.
You gestured for him to change the song, but before you could move out of his way he just reached around you to click the next song. The two of you were only like that for a second, but you couldn’t ignore the way your heart rate went up.
You calmed down as he went to sit back down on your floor. The song started to play and Luke watched for your reaction. You immediately recognized the first voice on the track as Luke’s, you tried to mask your excitement over how good he sounded but you were pretty sure he noticed, as his lips twitched upwards.
As the chorus hit you started nodding your head along to it, the song was pretty catchy. If you were not currently in Luke’s presence you would’ve been dancing, but you contained yourself.
As the song continued playing you noticed a voice change and you realized it was Alex’s. Your eyes went wide and you turned to Luke in shock. He nodded as if to confirm that it was Alex.
The vocals went back to Luke but then you heard another voice that you immediately recognized as Reggie’s. You let out a whoop in recognition of your fellow guitarist, which Luke chuckled at.
Suddenly, you felt the tone change, and you could hear what sounded like an acoustic guitar in the background. You were positively beaming, you got tingles from how good they sounded. As the song finished, you turned to Luke.
“That was so good!” you gasped.
Luke looked down at the floor. “Thanks, too bad we never got to play it,” he sadly confessed.
“You never got to play that one in front of an audience?” you asked, surprised.
“Nope, we managed to record it for the demo, and do it for a sound check. It was supposed to premier the night we died,” he admited.
He looked so down, you wished you could do something about it. But reversing time was not one of your capabilities.
“Well for what it’s worth, if I was a crowd I would’ve loved it.”
He scrunched his eyebrows up and pulled his lips in. “I know I’m from the nineties but that was interesting wording,” he teased.
You grinned sheepishly, “Hey! It was the best I had!” you laughed. You tried to lightly wack his knee, but your hand just went right through him, your face fell slightly.
“Yeah, trust me, Julie has tried that, it doesn’t work,” he pointed out.
“So it seems,” you agreed. You tried not to show how disappointed you were. Even though you had tried it before and failed, you were hoping that somehow you could today.
“So is that all you wanted to show me?” you asked, break the silence.
“Yeah, that was it,” he confirmed. He stood up and you went to take the cd out.
“No it’s okay, you can keep it,” he told you.
“You sure?” you uncertainly questioned.
“Yeah, it’s not like we need it.”
You figured he was right, and put it back in it’s case to put on one of your shelves.
“Oh y/n so did you make a decision?” he wondered.
You turned to him with a puzzled look on your face.
“Whether you’d prefer me to scare you by being in front of your window, or by poofing into your room?” The smirk he wore should’ve been considered illegal but you somehow managed kept your cool
You put your hands on your hips. “I’m not answering that question Luke.”
He shrugged, “Ghost’s choice then.” And with a poof he was gone.
He was lucky he was cute.
In the following week it was becoming sort of a habit, around eight, once you had got your homework done, Luke would pop over. Originally he kept coming over at seven, but you needed to get your school work done so you told him to come at eight. The two of you would just chat, sometimes about highschool, sometimes about the downsides and upsides of being a ghost, and sometimes about all the new things in the world.
But occasionally things complicated your little arrangement. Tonight was one of those nights; you had a lot of work you needed to get done, and the band had gone late. So when Luke popped over at around eight-thirty you still weren’t done.
“Y/n,” he greeted.
You didn’t take your eyes off of your computer. “Hi, sorry but you’re gonna have to wait a little bit, I’m still doing homework,” you explained.
He flopped down on your bed next to you. It was weird that you couldn’t touch him but you could feel his weight sink the bed slightly.
“So when are you going to be done?” he wondered.
“Hopefully soon, this math homework sucks,” you complained.
“Then don’t do it,” he suggested.
You finally looked over at him, to see that he was being completely serious.
“That’s not helpful,” you commented.
Now he was starting to smile. “Wasn’t intended to be.” He went to poke your shoulder, but he just phased through you.
Luke got up and started absentmindedly walking circles around your room. You didn’t really mind him doing this until he started messing with your stuff.
“Luke don’t touch my guitar!” you called over to him.
He whipped around towards you. “I wasn’t!” he argued.
You looked over at him. “Luke, I saw you doing it,” you said matter of factly.
He looked up at the ceiling. “Okay, so maybe I did,” he admitted.
He walked around for a couple more minutes without touching anything. You were almost done when you looked up to see Luke messing with something.
You couldn’t help but to shake your head. “Luke, what are you doing now?” you groaned.
“I’m just looking through your shirts,” he explained, not bothering to look at you.
You figured that him looking through your shirts was relatively harmless so you went back to finishing up your work.
“Okay, I’m done!” you announced a couple minutes later.
You saw that Luke was still looking through your pile.
“You find anything you like?” you asked, lying down on the floor.
“Yeah actually.” He picked up your favorite crop top to show you.
“Good choice,” you complimented.
“I thought so too.” He set the shirt back down.
“So what do you wanna do now?” you asked. Luke’s face practically lit up.
“So Julie was telling me about some movies called the Avengers. And it seems really cool, and Reggie is dedicated to star wars and Alex doesn’t really like superhero movies, so I thought you and I could watch it?” he excitedly suggested.
“Sure! I love those movies!” you enthusiastically agreed.
You moved all of your homework off of your bed and grabbed a second blanket for him, and some pillows.
Once the two of you had gotten situated on your bed, you pulled up the movies on your laptop.
You went in release order, starting from Iron Man 1. You skipped the Hulk movie, as you deemed it ‘bad’ and ‘not important enough of a plot to warrant watching it’. Luke seemed to be enjoying himself, he especially seemed to like the soundtrack of the Iron man movies. He was intrigued by the Thor movie as it was very different from the vibe of Iron Man. He found the humor of the movie to be kinda funny. His commentary made the movies so much more entertaining even though you had watched them several times, they ranged from dissing the characters, comparing them to your bandmates, to cheering them on.
“Oh my god Luke-” you suddenly realized something.
“What?” he worriedly asked.
“It’s three in the morning,” you gasped.
“Oh shit,” he said, quietly.
“Yeah, that’s not exactly going to be fun for me at school tomorrow,” you admitted with a sigh.
“Sorry, I probably shouldn’t have had us watch those tonight,” Luke apologized.
“No, it was fun, I’m glad we did,” you reassured him.
“Somehow I have a feeling you are going to be saying a different thing tomorrow,” Luke sarcastically teased.
“Oh, I definitely will. But that is why I’m telling you goodbye now,” you agreed.
“I’ll keep it in mind for when you’re being cranky tomorrow,” he remarked.
You chose to ignore his comment. “Goodnight Luke.”
He smiled brightly. “Goodnight y/n.”
He was right, the next morning, you were miserable. All day you felt as if you were walking through a tired haze, and not the sleepy fun one. You just felt dead inside.
“Woah, what happened to you?” Flynn asked, as she sat next to you in your writing elective class.
“I stayed up with Luke till three in the morning,” you told her, still asleep.
Flynn pursed her lips
“We were watching Marvel movies,” you explained.
She narrowed her eyes at you.
“I’m serious,” you said defensively.
She moved slightly closer to you.
“What?” you asked, finally giving into her games.
“Nothing, just that my girl y/n has a crush on a boy named Luke. I mean he may be a ghost but that’s not gonna stop you so, why do I even try?” she asked herself.
“I don’t like Luke,” you lazily defended yourself.
“Yeah, and I don’t have a stylish shoe game today,” Flynn sarcastically remarked.
You didn’t bother to respond to that, and just flopped your head down on your desk.
Supposedly by unanimous vote, practice was canceled that day. Though you were almost certain that the vote was taken by those in favor of not dealing with you on three hours of sleep. Not that you blamed them, you wouldn’t want to deal with tired you either.
The following day however, you were excited for practice. After your Lizzo jam sesh, you and Julie arrived at her house to the boys already practicing.
“Well you guys look like you're ready to go,” you commented as you put your backpack on the floor.
“We are except just one thing is missing-” Luke started before poofing out.
You exchanged a glance with Julie, but you realized she had no idea what he was doing either.
He returned seconds later wearing none other than your cropped shirt. And inwardly your jaw dropped. He did better than just pull it off, he looked hot. You knew your face was burning up. But it was your shirt, so a price had to be paid; just not at that exact moment.
Luke struted up to you before leaning down slightly to your level. “I figured I’d change into more appropriate clothes.
You licked your lips and glared at him. “Don’t start things you can’t finish Patterson,” you emphasized his last name.
He winked at you before walking up to his spot.
Everyone else looked confused, but not surprised.
You were beyond flustered but if you wanted to prove a point you needed to act like he wasn’t bothering you at all. But he was making it especially difficult for you today. Every single time he would sing he would be looking right at you, with that same burning fire of desire in his eyes. And to make matters worse, Julie had the two of you sing Edge of Great together, where you couldn’t look away. You attempted to take a couple steps back to take some of the intensity off of you but he just followed you, and he was somehow grinning more. The fire in his eyes drew you in but the mischievous smile of his told you to run. But you were singing, so you were held in place, as your lips were only centimeters away from his.
The song finally ended, and you could look away. You returned back to the safety of Reggie and Alex.
“So are we just not going to talk about what just happened there or?” Alex trailed off.
“Not you too Alex,” you whined.
Alex just nodded his head, as he realized that you were not going to talk about what had happened.
After practice you waited until it was just you and Reggie left in the studio.
“Okay, so I have a prank, do you want in?” you asked him in a hushed voice.
“Yeah! What is it?” he marvelled.
“So you know how Luke was wearing a crop top today?” Reggie nodded. “Well that was my crop top. So now I want to take something of his, but I need your help. What would be the best thing to take?”
“Probably one of his sleeveless shirts,” he suggested.
“Can you get it for me without him noticing?” you requested.
“When do you want it?”
“Friday.”
“As a bassist to an electric guitar it would be my honor,” he said, before poofing out. And just like that your plan was in motion. Friday night Reggie came to give it to you, since you obviously couldn’t wear it as school. So you decided to wear it to your Saturday practice. Reggie had given you his black one that read rock and roll with white lettering on it. You wore a black sports bra underneath it. You paired it with some light wash jeans, a small chain around your neck, and your pair of vans. You let your hair fall loose and you looked at yourself in the mirror. You were content that you were winning this battle.
When you walked into Julie’s studio, and Luke wasn’t there yet. But that worked great for you because it gave you time to talk with your partner in crime.
“You look great, Luke is gonna lose it!” Reggie whisper yelled, excitedly.
“Thank you! I really hope so,” you were nervous, but mostly excited.
“You got this!” He clapped you on the shoulder, before heading closer over to his usual spot so the two of you wouldn’t raise suspicion.
Julie then walked in and immediately made eye contact with you. She narrowed her eyes at you to mentally communicate her confusion, you responded with your eyes and said that you would explain later.
Seconds later Luke popped in.
“Julie, have you seen my-” Luke just stopped mid sentence the second he saw you. He just stood there for a moment looking at you, it was like his brain short circuited. You could here Reggie let out a quiet snort.
Finally, he regained some consciousness and was able to move. You were stifling your giggles as he awkwardly made his way over to his guitar.
The rest of practice went off without a hitch, you unfortunately didn’t get to sing with him again. But everytime he would look back at you, there you would be, still wearing his shirt and looking as smug as ever.
By the time you had finished packing up your guitar you realized Alex was just about to leave, which would leave you with Luke.
“Wait Alex do-” Annnnnnnnnnnd, he had poofed away, great.
“So you wanna talk about what you’re doing?” Luke asked, smugly.
“I don’t know, you wanna talk about where my crop top is?” you suggested.
“Don’t start wars you can’t finish y/n,” he playfully warned.
You smirked. “Funny how I told you the same thing and yet it appears that right now you are the loser,” you pointed out.
He arched an eyebrow. “We’ll see about that,” he retorted, and then poofed out.
You were gonna have to come up with more ideas if you wanted to win this, so it was back to the drawing board.

...........................................
“Hey, you ready?” you asked.
“Yeah, just let me grab my stuff,” Julie answered.
She pulled the emoji covered backpack out of her locker and shut it.
“Alright, you ready?” she questioned, as she let you lead the way.
“Yes, and no,” you said, with a nervous smile.
She placed her hand on your shoulder. “You got this, besides, you’re in good hands with Luke,” she reassured you.
“No doubt about that, it’s just a matter of whether I’ll embarrass myself or not.”
She smiled genuinely at you. “You got this, trust me.”
You held the door open for her.
“That car is yours, right?” She pointed across the parking lot.
“Yep, that’s the one.”
You unlocked it and threw your bag in the back, before getting into the drivers side.
“Alright, whatcha wanna listen to?”
Julie paused in thought before hesitantly asking, “You know who Lizzo is right?”
“Oh my god yes! You listen to her too?” you excitedly asked.
“Yes! How could you not listen to Lizzo!”
“Lizzo it is then!”
The first song was Soulmate, followed by Tempo which the two of you practically yelled, and the third song was Like a Girl. When Truth Hurts came on you both gasped and made eye contact through wide eyes.
Soon enough your sound system was blaring through the car and the two of you were belting the lyrics.
“Help you witchya career just a little,” you sang. Then you pointed to Julie to take the next part.
“You supposed to hold me down but you holding me back and that’s the sound of me not calling you back!” Julie was somewhere in between belting and yelling and still managing to sound good.
Then the both of you took the chorus. “Why men great till they gotta be great, don’t text me tell it straight to my face!
You were both animatedly pumping your fists with bright smiles as you finally rolled into her driveway.
Julie opened the studio doors to the boys all sitting there, ready to go. “Well you guys certainly look like you were having fun,” Reggie commented, smiling.
“We did,” you agreed.
“But now it means that break time is over for you guys,” Julie teased them.
Alex had already poofed over to the drums before she said anything.
“Yes ma’am!” Reggie said, getting off the couch.
Luke had a playful smile on his face. “We were the ones working on a new song, so I think that means the break is up for you,” he teased.
You couldn’t help but notice their closeness in that moment, you tried not to; but a small part of you couldn’t help but wish that was you.
Julie just rolled her eyes at him and walked to her piano to put her bag down. And just like that the moment was over.
After you and Julie had settled in and warmed up your voices and practiced a bit with your instruments, you figured you should probably figure out what you were doing.
“So do you guys want me to sing, or play, or listen?” you asked.
They all looked over at you, but Luke was the first to speak. “I can show y/n a couple of the songs with her while you guys run through Bright. Then we can see how she fits into that?” Luke brainstormed.
He held eye contact with you for a few moments before shifting to his other bandmates to gage their reactions.
“Sure! Sounds good to me,” Alex offered.
“Yeah you guys can go sit up in the loft if you want, just so you won’t be distracted by us,” Julie suggested.
“Yeah, sure, come on newbie, let’s see what you got, shall we?” He gestured to the stairs, and allowed you to go first.
“Don’t you already know what I’ve got since you technically already heard me play?” you said, as you ascended the stairs with your guitar.
“Yeah, but that one doesn’t technically count since it wasn’t in here,” he argued.
You paused and turned around, as you desperately tried to fight the smile forming on your lips. “Well technically you shouldn’t break into someone’s room and watch them play without knowing, so,” you trailed off.
“And to think I wanted you to be in the band,” he tutted, with no malice in his voice.
You couldn’t hide the grin on your face now, so you instead choose to plop down on the floor and start on your guitar.
“Alright I’m gonna show you the first couple chords that I have for Bright,” he explained as his fingers effortly slid across his guitar. You watched as he repeated it a couple times before joining him.
He looked up at you as he continued to play. “You’re a fast learner,” he commented.
“Eh, I’m just a visual learner.”
“That must help, I mean with the music school that you and Julie go to. It must be easier to learn things,” he guessed. He continued watching you play.
“Well I mean yes, I go to the same school as Julie but I’m not in the music program,” you admitted.
Luke abruptly stopped playing. “What?”
“Yeah, I wasn’t able to get in.” You were getting somewhat embarrassed.
“Seriously?” he asked in disbelief.
“Seriously,” you confirmed.
“How could they not let you in? I mean you obviously belong there,” he insisted. He sounded slightly upset about the situation.
“There are plenty of people in that school that are much better than me Luke, trust me,” you reassured him.
He leaned forward slightly which forced you to make eye contact with him. He looked quite somber but his eyes seemed to reflect a sort of light; it was as if he was looking through your soul with how intense his gaze was. “I doubt that,” he said.
You nervously swallowed and hoped he didn’t notice. “Thank you,” you uttered quietly, though it did not obstruct the feeling in your voice.
“You’re welcome.” His gaze tore away from yours. You were half relieved and half disappointed.
“So you ready to learn the rest of the song?” He said, breaking the rest of the momentary silence in the loft.
“Whenever you are.”
“Is she show ready?” Julie asked as you walked back down the steps twenty minutes later.
“I think she can manage,” you responded. You sounded more confident than you felt.
“Alright, let’s start Bright from the top. Y/n I want you to sing the chorus, pre-chorus, the second verse and then out to the end of the song, except for the bridge. Luke I’m gonna have you not sing, just for this one. And I will sing the intro, chorus, pre-chorus, the bridge, and verse one. Y/n just sing on this one, we’re not gonna add your guitar yet,” she explained.
You were glad she had a plan, so you at least knew what you were doing. You attempted to shake out your nerves a little bit and Julie gave you a thumbs up from her piano.
She started her intro and of course she sounded amazing. Luckily, you had listened to their song before so you knew when you needed to come in.
“Life is a risk but I will take it
Close my eyes and jump, together I think that we can make it
Come on let’s run”
The guys joined in with their instruments as the two of you reached the chorus. You started to relax through the chorus until you remembered that you would be singing on your own in a couple seconds. Pulling up your previous lesson from Luke in your mind, you tried to remember how high he had you sing it, it wasn’t quite Julie’s level but it was definitely higher than his. You once again made eye contact with Luke who mouthed ‘you got this’ with a determined look on his face. You heard the drums starting to quiet slightly and you knew you were up.
“In times that I doubted myself
I felt like I needed some help
Stuck in my head with nothing left
I feel something around me now
So unclear, lifting me out
I found the ground I’m marching on”
You were once again back with Julie’s voice as she came to stand beside you. You turned to face one another and sang with a harmony you were quite certain you hadn’t heard before. She was practically glowing with happiness and you couldn’t help but reflect that same joy on your own face.
As her individual part finished up again the two of you sung the final parts of the song as you went low on the last bright as she sung her iconic high note. The music faded and you couldn’t help but cheer a little bit.
Julie pulled you into a tight hug. “See I told you you’d be amazing!”
You returned the hug. “Thank you, but you should seriously hear yourself. You are so talented.”
“She’s right y/n you sounded really good,” commented Alex from the back; Reggie nodded in agreement.
“Thanks Alex,” you replied. A small smile was on your face and a certain amount of heat was creeping up to your cheeks from the levels of attention on you.
Luckily, Julie quickly took it off of you. This time she was going to have you play a version of Luke’s part on the guitar but complimented it as he sang; which you were grateful for because it meant you could take a background seat for a minute.
Julie started up on her piano again. This time you were waiting for the chorus to start, and as it did you almost forgot what you were doing when Luke started singing. Sure you had heard him sing this song in full once before. But damn could that boy sing.
It wasn’t until the chorus hit that things started to go wrong for you. You once again couldn’t help but notice their closeness, or the way they looked at each other. You continued on playing but you would be lying if you said it was with the same energy you had minutes ago.
The final chorus hit and your face had fallen all the way from buzzing with joy to mopey. You noticed Reggie creeping up from your right and your spirits were slightly raised as you watched him awkwardly wink at you and walk over to finish the rest of the song with you. For a second he made you forget all about your moment of sadness. As you finished up the last of the chords with each other you ended up back to back towards the end of it, for dramatic effect. Alex laughed as the song ended and he noticed the stance you and Reggie had chosen.
“What?” Reggie grinned.
“That was awesome!” you yelled, high fiving him
“Yeah it was!” he said, mirroring your enthusiasm.
“Ya know I think she’ll fit in quite nicely,” Luke observed. You could’ve sworn you saw him smirk and his eyes move slightly, but it was only for a moment.
Julie smiled in a slightly mischievous way. “I think she will too,” Julie agreed, as if you weren’t in the room listening to their conversation.
“You guys know I’m right here right?” you quipped from the other side of the room.
“Yeah I know, but I have a LOT of homework so we gotta wrap this up.”
“I can do that!” You raced over to the couch to get your stuff.
“Gentleman and Julie, it was lovely playing with you and I will see you all tomorrow,” you said as you waved goodbye. They all waved back as you pulled out of her driveway.
It turned out that heavy homework wednesdays were becoming a thing for Julie because in the following week she was told she wasn’t allowed to have band practice until her homework was done. She said something about her dad not being too happy about her staying up till twelve doing it. Though Julie didn’t sound so happy about it either, for obvious reasons; but she did of course want to have band practice, so she promised all of you she would be done as quick as possible. But she still needed a ride home, and Flynn’s house was on the way to your house, so you offered to drive her too.
Flynn called shotgun which Julie groaned about, but she took the back. You turned on Lizzo before putting the park in reverse to get out of the parking lot and driving off.
“So how is your new spot in the phantoms going?” Flynn asked.
“I would say pretty good, but I’ll let Julie answer that one.”
“She’s doing really well, her and Luke have really figured out how to compliment one another on the guitars, and she gets along great with all of them,” Julie responded.
“Well I think they might, maybe, just maybe, be keeping you,” Flynn told you, sarcastically.
“Thank god they are, I don’t know what I would’ve done if they hadn’t," you worried aloud.
“Probably would’ve still thought you were insane,” Flynn suggested with a shrug.
“Harsh! But, yeah, probably,” you admitted, laughing a little bit, and the other two joined you.
“At least now I can get people off my back about me and Luke,” Julie spoke. Flynn pointed at her in acknowledgement.
Now that peaked your interest. “What?” you asked, trying to sound nonchalant about it.
Julie casually waved you off. “Oh just people thinking Luke and I are together.”
You thought you were going to jump up and down from excitement, “Wait, you guys aren’t together?” You hoped you didn’t sound as excited as you felt.
Julie had a borderline concerned look on her face. “Ohhhhh definitely not, we are just friends, and neither of us want to be anything more. I mean don’t get me wrong, I see the appeal, but he’s not my type,” she explained.
“Yeah cause her type is Nick,” Flynn sang, snapping her fingers.
Suddenly a lightbulb clicked. “Was that the guy you were talking to by your locker the day Luke saw me?”
Julie facepalmed in embarrassment. “Yes.”
“See she’s not even denying it,” Flynn pointed out.
“That’s true,” you agreed, looking through your rear mirror at your bandmate.
Flynn's face suddenly turned from mischievous evil to somehow even more evil. “Though I mean we could instead talk about how you obviously think Luke is cute.”
Now that took you by surprise. “I do not!” you insisted.
Flynn’s eyes got slightly larger with her raised eyebrows and she pursed her lips. “Okay so we’re lying now?” she teased.
Julie laughed before slamming her hand over her mouth. “Flynn stop, if she says she doesn’t like him then she doesn’t.”
“Thank you Julie.” You specifically enunciated Julie and Flynn stuck her tongue out at you. And just as she did you turned onto Julie’s road.
You waved goodbye to Julie, wishing her luck with her homework. And then went to drop Flynn off before arriving home yourself.
You rummaged through the fridge to find something and you managed to settle on an orange before also finding hummus and pretzels.
You sat down in your empty kitchen and took a bite of a hummus covered pretzel, and realize you forgot to get water. You turned around to come face to face with Luke…. again.
“HOLY SHIT!” you yelled. It wasn’t your first time but it didn’t mean it wasn’t just as scary.
“Sorry didn’t mean to scare you,” he said, not looking very sorry at all.
“You have got to stop doing that.” You walked past him and by that you mean you accidentally walked through him. You turned back to him for a moment to see if he was okay but he seemed to be looking at you curiously so you assumed he was fine.
“No promises, remember? It’s kinda a ghost thing,” he reminded you as he followed you around your kitchen.
“Okay well what do you and your ghost thing want?” you asked, immediately regretting your choice of words. You could practically feel his smirk from behind you.
“Did you just-” he started but you cut him off.
“Nope, no, no I didn’t. What do you want Luke?” You were trying to pivot and luckily, he took the bait.
“Well, can you come to the studio?” he asked.
“Yes, I was already going to be coming there later.” You were getting slightly confused.
“No, I mean like now,” Luke explained.
“Why?” you asked, finally sitting back down with your water.
“We’re bored,” he confessed, slouching on your table.
“You came here to tell me you’re bored?” you giggled.
“Well I guess technically, yes, so can you come?” he impatiently asked. He just looked restless. Though you supposed being in a garage for a large majority of your day and only having two other people to talk to would do that to a person, or ghost in this case. But unfortunately, you still couldn’t come.
“Sorry Luke, I already told my parents I would be leaving later tonight, and I don’t wanna have to switch plans on them,” you apologized.
“Oh come on, your parents aren’t even home,” he pointed out.
“I’m well aware, but I try to keep my promises to them,” you defended. Though he looked so goddamn cute at the moment you could feel your will power breaking.
“It’ll be fun!” he promised. He must’ve known that his smile could get to you because when you looked at him you swore it had grown three sizes.
“Tempting, but I’m gonna have to pass.”
“Please?” he asked. You looked him in the eyes, which was a big mistake because he was giving you a puppy face. I mean it’s not like you already thought he was cute, but this? This was on a whole nother level. His lips were in a slight pout as his head was tilted doward just a smidge, and his blue eyes mocked sadness, in a way that was just unbearable.
“Okay, okay, fine,” you agreed, you tried to sound annoyed but it didn’t work in the slightest.
“Yes!” he shouted.
“Just let me grab my keys, wait, can you even go in a car?” Could he even get in the car? Could he get in the car, and then his physical state or lack thereof, could suddenly go away and he wouldn’t be sitting in the car anymore? But Luke’s voice interrupted your hypotheticals.
“How about I just meet you there?” Luke suggested.
“Good idea,” you agreed.
Ten minutes later you had pulled up to Julie’s house and entered the studio. “Oh hey Reggie,” you greeted, taking a seat on the couch.
“Oh hi y/n! Are you here to practice with us, or? Not that I mind you being here,” he quickly stammered out.
“It’s fine, you’re okay Reggie, I know I’m not usually here unless it’s for practice. But yeah, I’m just here to hang out.”
“Oh, cool!”
“So where’s everybody else?” you asked.
“Well I think Alex is with Willie and I’m actually not sure where Luke is,” he answered.
“I wonder wh-” you started, but you had a feeling that someone had landed beside you.
Which, of course Luke had, and practically right on time too.
“Sorry, I was just checking on Julie and seeing how much homework she has,” Luke explained.
“How’s it looking?” you asked.
“Not so great, she still has a lot left to go,” Luke admitted.
You shrugged. “Well I’ve got nowhere to be.”
And for the next two hours or so the three of you sat there and talked about all sorts of things, from mundane things, to really deep things, to things they missed the most about being alive. Which mostly consisted of food, not that you blamed them.
Soon enough Luke went to go check up on Julie again.
“Are you cold?” Reggie asked you.
“No,” you lied.
“Dude, I can see you, you’re literally shivering.”
“Yeah, I forgot to grab a jacket before I left my house,” you admitted.
“Here-” he threw a jacket at you, “wear this one, it’s nice and warm.”
“Reggie you really don’t have to-” you started, but he insisted; and you were pretty cold so you gave in.
In a couple of minutes Luke returned to the same spot.
“How’s it looking now?” you asked.
“I don’t think she’s gonna,” Luke suddenly stopped mid sentence to glance over at you, “nice jacket y/n.” For whatever reason, he had a very interesting look on his face, to say the least.
“Thanks, Reggie lent it to me.”
“Oh is that so?” he asked, now turning to look at Reggie, who looked slightly frightened.
“Um, yes?” you said, though it was more of a question.
Luke turned to you, “Y/n?”
“Yeah?” you responded.
“You know that’s my jacket right?” he asked.
Now you also turned to stare down Reggie, “What was your intent with this-”
“Wait what’s his full first name?” you asked Luke in a whisper.
“Reginald,” he whispered back.
“What was your intent with this Reginald?” you asked.
“I have no idea what you guys are talking about,” Reggie said, looking up at the ceiling.
Luke took one step towards him and Reggie yelped before poofing out.
“Why does he keep offering up your stuff?” you laughed.
He scoffed, “I wish I knew.” It seemed like he did know but you weren’t going to press him on it.
“Oh, here, you can have your jacket back now.” You awkwardly handed it over to him.
“Oh, thanks. You did look good in it though, by the way,” he casually mentioned.
You were pretty sure your brain just shut down for a couple seconds. “What?” you asked, you were still working to catch up with what just happened.
“I said, you looked good in it,” he repeated, as his voice was becoming soft and slightly deeper.
“Thanks,” you managed to mumble out. But meanwhile you thought your face was on fire.
“Oh also you might wanna head home, Julie said she’s not gonna be able to practice tonight,” he mentioned.
“I probably should, but hey, I’ll see you tomorrow!” you yelled as you left the studio.
“See ya!” he yelled and waved.
By the time you got home there was a note on the kitchen table, ‘Don’t worry I cleared it with Luke this time -signed Reggie’ and next to the note sat the jacket. You laughed quietly to yourself before taking the note and the jacket upstairs with you.
