Mostly too overwhelmed to function but this made me 🥹 so hard, thank you! I hope you are well or better and also enjoying many things!

I have been hemming and hawing on twitter for the last couple months about maybe quitting/archiving the pseudofaux identity, orphaning a bunch of works, and using one of my current alts from now on or making something new. I am a person who kept my LJ handle the same for years when my friends changed them regularly so this feels weird! And I LIKE pseudofaux/pseu as a name. But I think the overwhelm is pressing on some thoughts and protoburnout that were already present. I feel constrained and I’m not sure if the right way forward is to do what I want or to start fresh with the lessons I’ve learned. Idk! I’m not going to do anything super soon… because I’m too overwhelmed. 😂

Cool things lately:

Tears of the Kingdom, and Breath of the Wild right after I finished it. Still on BotW! I loved loved loved TotK.

Been doing some manga collecting for series I loved years ago or ones that I always wanted to read more of.

New computer!!! Will still use laptop for writing and goofing off, the new machine is for gaming and I feel silly about how much I like it.

Booked myself space in a writing retreat in a couple months and even if I don’t write a word I clearly need a retreat so gd bad 🫠

Found a couple volunteer sunflowers after I totally missed the window to plant them 🤡

Yeah, I’d just consider this archived, update the header, and leave it up! I won’t delete anything from ao3 either, but might orphan some stories. At a tender place creatively where I can’t imagine destroying something if someone ever wanted to find it or was looking for something like it, but not wanting to have a direct arrow between the story and my name. Hard because there’s a line or few lines or a POINT in everything that I like, that’s why I wrote it, and I’m greedy to keep those bits… but wanna let go of the rest. Won’t outright delete anything, though. Thank you for these kindnesses!

What are your thoughts on the new characters in ikevam?

Thanks for asking! I am going to put a link to the video in the comments/notes of this post if anyone hasn’t seen these new characters yet.

First thought:

I wish they looked less alike at a distance! To reveal two characters with white hair, white shirts, the same skin, and a general mirroring of hair underwhelms me. We’ve seen their combined palette before. On Mozart. Compared to the existing cast they look washed out— maybe that’s on purpose, theories next paragraph! And this lack of enthusiasm isn’t a quibble with the illustrations, they’re not ugly. Ike-ist of men/vampires. But they are visually bland, and presented together, I don’t find a lot to distinguish these characters from each other until I start looking hard. Until now the IkeVamp character designs have been a lot more visually appealing to me, even on characters that I didn’t end up liking so much. That’s why these feel like a letdown in a way.

There was a design element that definitely unifies them on purpose: the matching harnesses they’re rocking, which have me intrigued. I haven’t played any route in EN since Comte’s, maybe in Vlad’s route some secret society of existing-out-of-the-flow time managers were revealed? purebloods: GROUNDED I can’t make out much beyond shapes, at first I thought their icons were gears but having zoomed, I don’t think so any more. Their belts/cummerbund things are part of the get up, the shoulder piece comes down and attaches to the belt. I LOVE A MAN IN WEIRD UNIFORM. 💕

Identical as far as I can tell, EXCEPT:

Galileo (on the right above) has a pewter lock/safety pin end hanging from his shoulder pin. Drake’s looks to be brass, the same tone as the charm the things hang from.

I’m also not 100% on the hip icons being the same. It could just be the angle but Drake’s doesn’t appear to narrow over the top of the loop like Galileo. In historical significance I tend to think of Galileo as outranking Sir Francis Drake, that could be coloring my guess here. 😂

Other thoughts

They make the game logo look more beautiful every reveal, never change anything except your event mechanics, Cybird

First full body of Galileo: “This game already has a character with a coat on his shoulders, get OUT”

First listen with sound: “oh fuck me, that’s [Galileo] Furukawa doing ‘thickly repressed’ 🥴🫠🫠🫠💸💸💸”

WHY ISN’T THE SECOND ONE “FIGARO”

Drake’s got an anchor on his uniform, that’s the kind of design indulgence I am missing and wanting more of!

Drake is hotter to me, I like the little smirk

Both associated with maps (this shows up in their character card backgrounds!) interesting choice, Galileo focusing on astronomy and Drake a pirate privateer so we see a map from his circumnavigation— I wonder why they didn’t “pair” Drake with Magellan or Cavendish

bi Why do I keep holding out hope they’re going to give us a woman or non-binary character, I am always crossing my fingers they will put Madame de Staël in this!!!! (that’s who I would OC)

Run pretty ragged by summer… I knew before this that public school teachers and staff are underpaid but HELLO THEY SHOULD BE COMPENSATED AT LEAST DOUBLE. 🫠 AT. LEAST.

I’ve got a TWST project paused, and some game story and FE3H and Birushana drafts, and Birushana itself which I have given up on until KidFaux is back in school in a couple weeks. Lots of good gardening. We just took a weekend trip so SpouseFaux could do a blacksmithing thing (he made a dinner triangle and some other stuff!) and that was exhausting but nice. I think “exhausting but nice” is kinda where I’m at lately. Inspired by @saizoswifey I got myself a bullet journal but I’m waiting for my ~supplies~ so hopefully will start in September.

Thinking about sending in an audition reel for an upcoming VN just as a tendril stretch. Not sure if I’ll be able to make time for it, but it looks cool! (here are details if anyone else is interested!)

😚😚 Thank you! Creative crisis earlier this month (/ongoing 🤦🏻‍♀️) that I am trying to wriggle out from under. But doing fairly well otherwise! Taking some time to explore other things, reading way more books than I usually have time for, started playing Dragon Age veryyyyy slowlyyyyy and having fun when I’m able to do that. I’m playing the current SLBP event because Nobuyuki is in it! Reflecting on how long I have been playing SLBP (significant fall off in the last two years, but still) is bittersweet. I would not be here as a fanfiction writer without it! Zany.

I think as a submissive, Klein would feel best with a very devoted and engaged partner who gave him lots of attention and took away the need for Klein to do most of the little decision making in his life, so he would have more time to get pampered. He would thrive with someone who appreciated his beauty and he could really preen for someone who enjoyed showing him off in gorgeous clothing. And out of gorgeous clothing. He would love a special platform to stand on so someone could walk around and admire him from every angle! He would also love...

 A pole. And he would use it to magnificent effect.

Klein would be comfortable with someone who had strong preferences already in place and could communicate them plainly. Not cruelly, clearly. He needs someone who has boundaries for him. He might test them sometimes—he’s not a brat, I think he comes off the way he does in the story because he’s hungry for attention, and if he got it, he’d be better behaved— but he wants them to be there. Decent, thank you! Busy with TWST stuff and the current (🎺!) IkeVamp event. And I started the Dragon Age trilogy after a friend recommended them, that’s going slow but cool! Earlier tonight I did a screenshare over discord with that friend and she helped me figure out a bunch of stuff and it was a lot of fun to play sort of together like that. 🥰

Nonny. I have not even started it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I feel terrible!

To be honest it is 60% being busy, and 40% being pouty and salty at Cybird for giving him so little fanfare. I am still confused and upset that we got Dev Notes on Twitter AFTER the route dropped, and no lead up posts except the route announcement. Obviously not the most important things in the world, but I am heated about it! It feels unfair and makes me wanna flounce and not play!

I will, though, and what I will probably do is finish this TWST thing I’m writing and then binge Dazai’s route over the next few days. I’ll pay for the pleasure to do so even though the way Cybird dropped the ball makes me want to not spend a cent— they’ve definitely got me by the balls wallet. I don’t want to be in such a huff about this (longtime readers may remember my dickriding for Cybird—not the love interests, the company 💀— a few years ago). I want to just be happy the route is here for English-reading players, but. AUGH! J’sulk.
