How would you create a design for your MHA oc? I was in the process of creating my Oc since November, and still can't get her design 😅 (I got her quirk and still in the process of her last name). I know the whole process when you create a MHA character. They're design has something to do with their Quirk and personality, but I can't figure out how to make it. I already imagined how it would look but when I illustrated it, it looked kinda bland especially the colors. I already researched on character design and what makes it good and fitting and got nothing 😅.
Hmm, that’s a bit of a situation isn’t it?
It sounds like you have a starting point--name, quirk, and personality. When you say “bland”, do you mean the personality doesn’t show through, or that the costume/hair/etc. are too plain? If the former is an issue, I think the thing with most character creators is that they do make up a story/backstory for characters to see how they fit in the world first, and doing that helps bring the character to life enough to give them a physical appearance. It’s kinda like reading a book or listening to a podcast, and becoming so invested in a character you can imagine what they look like and you really gotta draw fanart for it, y’know? In this case, it’s like becoming a fan of your own character--what moments in their story can you imagine that you really wanna bring to life with a drawing? For instance, they have a dramatic entrance: can you clearly imagine what their first appearance is when they’re first stepping into the classroom at UA, or the epic save they just pulled to help someone else out? Or is there a soft intimate moment between your character and their best friend that might showcase the expression and range you think they may have?
If your problem is more like, figuring out their hairdo or eye shape or hero costume or something? I mean, if something’s not working, just change it. Or give them multiple looks--anime characters may wear the same hairdo everyday but that’s a limitation of the media they’re in. In real life if someone doesn’t like their long hair, they cut it, or they could change from pigtails to ponytails every other day if they feel like it. Similar can be said of characters--if you don’t like how they look, maybe start fresh. If you’re dead set on a certain feature (like say, they definitely have pointy ears, or blue hair), you can probably build your character around that rather than trying to build a character and fitting those features in. (It sounds like a similar process, I know, but it’s the difference between “I want this character to have square glasses, but I think this boxy-looking man’s face shape doesn’t fit it quite right, so maybe this character might look better as a girl” and “I’ve designed this character and, oh right, I wanted him to have glasses, I guess I’ll just put those on even though they don’t go with the design I initially made”. I think anyway?)
The problem with colors can probably easily be fixed by playing around with palettes, though if you’re lacking inspiration I suggest maybe looking at posts or art guides with color palettes? You know, like those posts that are like “here’s 20 different sets of 5 colors, draw a picture using only 1 set”--you don’t have to do those challenges of course, but using the color palettes themselves might prove to be interesting since they’re kinda made to look good together, blending or contrasting or complimenting or whathaveyou.
I don’t know what else you might need help on?? But hopefully that helped.

( HOZIER, 30, CISMALE ) I just bumped into [ RUADHÁN “RUE” O’CONGHAILE ] the other day while walking down [ SOUTH ] Kingsboro, where [ HE/HIM ] live. I hear they can be [ GOOD-NATURED ] and [ CLUMSY ], but when I think of them I immediately think about [ THE SUN SHINING THROUGH STAINED GLASS, THE SMELL OF IRISH WILDFLOWERS AFTER THE RAIN, ACCIDENTALLY WATCHING THE SUN COME UP BECAUSE YOU STILL HAVEN’T SLEPT  ] ( ella again xx )
hi hello i’m sorry i haven’t shut up about this character in like two weeks but he’s so worth the wait i promise. however, that being said, please proceed with caution. i’ll list all of the trigger warnings as they come up but there’s a lot of heavy stuff in here so just be safe ily okay here we go. ps im sorry this got so long
born in middle-of-nowhere, ireland, rue didn’t have the best childhood. his mother, apparently a wealthy socialite from england, had no interest in being a mother. his father, her husband at the time, begged her to let him keep the baby, and they’d get a divorce so she’d never have to see either of them again. she agreed, and took off, leaving rue to be raised by his dad. his mother was more than generous in the divorce settlement, making sure his father had more than enough to care for the child and live a luxurious life. while he wishes he could have met her, rue has no hard feelings towards his mother.
{ tw: abuse } rue’s father was his best friend. they did everything together, and as a kid, that’s all he could have asked for. sure, it wasn’t perfect, but no dads are perfect, right? in truth, it was far from perfect. for most of his life, rue was in denial about the underlying emotional and mental abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. his father used him, manipulating him and crushing him until he fit this perfect little role his father had designed for him. it was rarely physical, and when it was, it was rue’s fault. he was clumsy and loud, always making noise or breaking things. in fact, most of it was rue’s fault, in his mind. his father’s mood swings, the borderline-obsessive controlling behaviour, the constant belittling comments, only to be outshone by the rare positive one. of course, none of this was actually his fault, but he was just a kid. he assumed that if his father didn’t love him, he had to be better.
{ tw: homophobia } and then rue was fifteen, falling in love with the world. he quickly learned that if he played his music well, people would be nice to him, and like him. and in one particular case, like like him. he sat next to rue in his english class and had the nicest smile. he was in love, or at least, as in love as he could be at fifteen. and it seemed, for a moment, that he wasn’t the only one. they kept their relationship a secret, their extremely religious town not known for being accepting. they talked about running away together one day, starting over in the big city. and one day came, when the local priest caught them kissing behind the library after mass one sunday. he, of course, went straight to rue’s father.
{ tw: abuse } despite their rocky relationship, not even rue could have predicted his father’s response. upon hearing the now-public news that his teenage son had been caught kissing another boy, his father drank. and drank. waiting for rue to come home, waiting to confront him. even though rue had begun to grow into his height, he had always been a lanky kid who avoided confrontation at all costs. meaning when his father took the first swing, he couldn’t fight back. looking back, he didn’t even know if he would have, had he the chance.
bruised and bloodied, rue packed a bag and grabbed his guitar, ready to take his love on the road. they’d always talked about running away, why not now? having nothing and being in love was better than staying here in his comfortable life, and he really didn’t want to go back in the closet. his love didn’t feel the same though, publicly denying they were anything beyond classmates. heartbroken, rue left without him, moving to dublin with only what he could carry.
dublin was good to him, though. he got a job in the kitchen of a dive bar who didn’t ask questions and sometimes let him play on stage if things were quiet. they had an unspoken agreement, they’d look the other way on his age if he showed up and kept his head down and didn’t cause any problems. he lived on the streets for a few years, a wild change from his comfortable upbringing. at first it was just for the money, he couldn’t afford a flat on his own and didn’t know anyone he could live with, but then he actually came to enjoy it. yeah, it was hard, especially in the winters, but the other kids his age on the street were good kids, if troublesome. they all took care of each other, a new family when their own had cast them out.
that’s where he met her. elizabeth. he was nineteen and had just been promoted to line cook at the bar, she was eighteen and her family had just moved to dublin from denmark. despite the fact that she liked to run on the wild side and hang out on the streets, her family was incredible. they took him right into their home, giving him a place to live, as long as he agreed to go back to school. they even got him a tutor to help with his learning disabilities. as he and their daughter fell more and more in love, they adopted him wholeheartedly into their family, and eventually, rue actually enrolled in college.
{ tw: abuse } they stayed in dublin for school but moved out of her parent’s house and into their own flat. that’s when things started to spiral in their relationship. elizabeth became overly jealous and controlling, checking his phone multiple times a day, insisting on walking him to and from classes and work. she never had any reason to worry, he was so in love with her it was if no one else in the world existed. to rue, who had been raised so deeply in emotional and mental abuse, this was normal. this was how people showed their love. he didn’t know any better. it was broken and fucked up and extremely toxic, but it was theirs, and he loved her.
{ tw: terminal illness } rue did whatever he could to excuse her behaviour, letting her cut him off from everyone in her life, including her own parents. he even turned a blind eye to the way she checked his phone constantly but always hid hers. that was, until his father got sick. he had been away from home for about five years at that point, and it wasn’t until his father reached out that he even knew he was sick. rue had found himself a comfortable little job caring for animals at a wildlife rehabilitation facility on the outskirts of the city, and while it didn’t pay much, it payed enough to move his father in with them. however, the man that came was not the same man who had raised him. he was a shell of a man, sickness eating away at him until he could barely move. his father had huntington’s, a rare degenerative brain disease that would essentially turn his father into a vegetable until he died an early death. they didn’t know how much longer he had, but it was likely only a few years.
{ tw: death } to cope with his toxic relationship and the ever declining state of his father’s health, rue threw himself into his music. it was the release he needed, the only thing keeping him going. and it was working. for four years he managed to juggle work, his father’s care, and his music, and it was all about to pay off. he got a record deal at a pretty decent label based out of london. he’d only have to go for a few months, but that meant leaving his father in the care of his girlfriend. so, at the expense of the only dream he’s had, he turned it down. he told himself his life was better here, even going so far as to propose to his girlfriend. his father held on for two more years before he died due to complications of his illness.
{ tw: terminal illness } even from beyond the grave, rue’s father found ways to ruin every part of him that tried to be happy. during a harmless, unrelated appointment with his doctor, he mentioned in conversation that his father had recently died due to complications from huntington’s. looking back, he is grateful that he did, as he learned that huntington’s is passed genetically. they started testing right away, but the results were not what they had hoped. while he currently showed no noticeable symptoms, rue was all but guaranteed to suffer the same fate. six months later, the tremors started.
{ tw: depression, abuse, cheating } suddenly faced with the idea of his own mortality, rue began to spiral into a deep depression, spending almost all of his time with the animals at work. they were the only things that kept him going, and his fiancée really didn’t like that. when her controlling, manipulative ways failed to force his attention back onto her, she began to seek it elsewhere, armed with his inheritance. his father had been smart with the large some of money he got in the divorce, and had tripled the amount by the time he died. she spent it partying, sleeping around, and spoiling her lovers. rue didn’t care, nothing mattered to him anymore. a year and a half after he got the news, she moved out of their apartment while he was at work. it took him three days to notice her gone.
losing his fiancée was the best thing to happen to him, and he was suddenly free. nobody tried to control him, nobody cared where he was or who he was with. he began to slowly come out of his shell, enjoying what it was like to be twenty-seven and single for the first time in 8 years. finally able to explore his sexuality safely, rue really came into his own. of course, it wasn’t perfect. he ended up in his ex’s bed a few too many times for his own comfort, but he just couldn’t help himself. she always knew exactly how to push his buttons until he was putty in her hands.
{ tw: abandonment of a child } he thought it was just innocent fun, what exes do. then one evening he came home to a car seat on his doorstep. inside was a baby girl, only a few weeks old, and a note with his name on it. he recognized the handwriting before he even opened it, mentally counting the months since he’d last seen her and not liking the answer. it was definitely possible. even still, he took the baby to the hospital. after many unsuccessful attempts to contact his ex, both by himself, the hospital, and even her own family, rue now had a baby. he had never even wanted kids.
even still, he loved her. more than he had ever loved anything. his ex had named the baby after herself, but he couldn’t bear to call her that. so, he adopted the nickname lizard, and it stuck. he wanted to give her a better life than he had, but in order to do that, he needed to start taking his health seriously. so, he packed everything up, and moved to new york city. he didn’t care much for the big city and wasn’t a fan of raising lizard without a backyard, but they had the best doctors to treat his disease and he had to try.
he’s been in kingsboro for about two-ish years now, and has been raising lizard on his own. he works two jobs to support her, days at a wildlife clinic and nights as a bartender, and even then still tries to find time to perform his music as much as he can at bars and clubs around town. he’s multi-talented, skilled in a number of instruments allowing him to easily slot into any empty role. he hasn’t slept since lizard came around and his love like is disappointing, but he is a really good father, and would give his life for his daughter. and, even if it’s three bites and a kiss goodnight, he is home for dinner every single night, without fail.

Wut r ur thoughts on concrit? Ps hope Noticing is going good!!!
Tumblr media
Was that you in Discord last night, Nonny? 😉
We had a great conversation on concrit, but I will elaborate here for anyone curious!
Ok. So. To give you my insights on concrit, I have to explain a little backstory. Bear with me.
I was an English major at a relatively competitive university, so I spent my college years regularly getting both fiction and nonfiction stuff marked up/critiqued/torn to shreds. This stung at first, but you know what I figured out pretty fast? The best way to avoid getting a page full of red marks is to listen to the feedback from peers and professionals alike. Pretty soon, I did better.
After graduation, I submitted two novel manuscripts for publication. I fully expected each to be rudely rejected everywhere. To my rather pleasant surprise, they were only rudely rejected most places. A small publishing house took me on — under the condition that I’d accept of multiple rounds of very aggressive edits. I agreed, and after a few grueling rounds of this, I was published. More than anything else, though, I learned what the industry was looking for. This was a very valuable lesson.(Side note, tradpub proved far less lucrative than selfpub, so I can’t recommend selfpub highly enough.)
These days, I exclusively self-publish romance novels — which means I pay (good money!) for someone to edit my books and tell me what’s wrong with them. And I gotta say, getting a manu back with a fuck-ton of edits is like a drug... because the more feedback I get, the more I’m convinced I got my money’s worth. Every correction in that docx file proves that the editor wants to help my book meet market standards. It shows me that she cares. It demonstrates that she read every single word. The writing industry is brutal and scathing, but having someone by my side helps... provided, of course, that all feedback is designed to help. (And sadly, I’ve yet to encounter an editor who is as hardworking and dedicated as my fanfic betas, but that’s another story for another time.)
Overall, I like to think I have the same attitude towards concrit in my fanfic. I won’t pretend that a few comments here and there don’t sting, but in general, most vaguely “negative” comments I get are about simple differences in headcanons. There’s not much I can do to fix my understanding of character motivation, but I still respect the time it took to comment.
However, not everyone is open to concrit — nor should they have to be. It’s your (mostly) original work, you’re not being paid, and if you don’t want the slightest critique, that’s 100% your choice, too. The issue, though, is that fanfic really lacks a system for authors to announce/identify the feedback they want. I don’t think I’ve ever read a story where the author bluntly said something along the lines of, “I’m sure everyone means well, but I find concrit reviews a little discouraging. If you have concrit, I’d appreciate getting it over a PM instead of on a review. Thanks!”
Maybe I’m alone in this, but if I saw that author’s note, I wouldn’t be offended or snarky at all. I’d be relieved, actually, that the author was self-aware enough to identify reviews that detract from their writing experience.
So. I personally feel the solution here would be implementing some sort of tagging system for writers. Perhaps AO3 will have that one day. (If @ao3commentoftheday has thoughts, I’d love to hear those too!) In the meantime, I will continue to only offer concrit on stories for which I’m a beta, simply because I know that some folks find concrit overwhelming/discouraging.
Everyone is different, though — and truly, I respect that, too. 😊

Microsoft E3 2018 Press Conference Thoughts
Another year, another E3, time to post on my seldom used blog! No promises for when this is going to be more active... but we will have to see what the future holds!
So I’ll start by saying I’m not an Xbox guy, I play mainly PlayStation and PC with a bit of Switch thrown in there for good measure. I won’t be making a big post like this for the other conferences except Sony’s and maybe Nintendo’s.  I’ll be looking at all the things mentioned out of chronology, but in an order that bundles the similar stuff together.
This time around Microsoft gave us one hell of a show. Forgetting the exclusives for now, as a PlayStation player I was very happy with the showcase. They showed off 15 world premieres of games, some noticeable ones that I’m personally excited for were: The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit (Set in the Life is Strange universe), The Division 2 (they probably feel privileged they got to announce this), Devil May Cry 5 (surprising to see this and other eastern developed games here as I would normally expect this to be revealed at Sony’s show), Jump Force (Blew my freaking mind, a weeaboo gamers wet dream), Dying Light 2 (Again, Xbox got to unveil this, I know PS is scaling back this year but hot damn, incredible), Just Cause 4, and they rounded out the show with a major title that I am very much looking forward to (more on that one at the end!). In brief, WHAT A SHOW. I want all these games *sigh*.
Notable mentions - NieR: Automata is coming to Xbox, Fallout 76 was briefly talked about before Bethesda’s show, Kingdom Hearts 3 will be coming to Xbox (!), Tales of Vespira, Shadow of the tomb raider, Tunic (furry Zelda, looks cute and the world has a nice design, but the design of the player character is meh imo), and I guess I have to put Gears 5 in here somewhere or someone will bite my arm off.
THE GAME PASS, the value of this thing keeps getting better, The Division, Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout 4 are being added as well as some new tach (machine learning algorithms) that allows your games to start twice as fast. I don’t think the internet infrastructure is in place yet for the future of purely streamed games, but tools like this will probably help it become a stable, staple service sooner rather than later.
Next I want to talk about exclusives, but before I do I’ll put this game (DLC) here as I’m very much looking forward to it, Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores. These next two updates to Rare’s open world PvP pirate game, which I love, should hopefully inject it with some more much needed content (and hopefully not a time limited campaign!).
Xbox’s weakest point has always been its exclusives. After the cancellation of Scalebound and the further delay of Crackdown 3, they had to show us something during this conference to give us confidence in the future of the platform. After all, strong exclusives lead to strong sales, growth, competition etc. And of course, great games all around.
And oh boy did they deliver! FIVE studios have been brought into the fold to increase their roster of First Party exclusives (The quality of these studios can be discussed later, for now let’s just focus on the positives). The first, one formed for the occasion: The Initiative, led by the guy who worked on Tomb Raider. The other four were snatched up as part of a major investment: Undead Labs (State of Decay), Playground Games (Forza Horizon), Ninja Theory (Formally a PS third party dev, they made 2007s Heavenly Sword and 2017s Hellblade), and finally Compulsion Games (Currently working on We Happy Few). Ninja Theory is the big one that will help them the most against the competition, and for the others, the extra money they will receive from being first party will no doubt be a boon to the scope and quality of their games (looking at you State of Decay!).
The exclusive games they did show off were a mix of the highly anticipated and totally unexpected. Battle Toads, a game wanted by the passionate community was show to exist, with a release date of 2019. Session, a new and exclusive skateboarding game was shown. Forza Horizon 4 was shown off, open world, changing seasons, it looks very different to what they have done with the franchise previously. Crackdown 3 was shown to alleviate fears of any more delays (although, anything is possible).
Lastly, before I give my general thoughts, I wanted to give the show opener and closer their own section. They opened the show by unveiling Halo Infinite, the trailer gave vibes of it being a more open world full of wildlife (rhinos anyone??) and a story centred on Master Chief. Other than that and the name, no other info was given, but you can bet it will be taking the series in a new direction. The show was closed, remarkably, by CD Projekt Red’s, Cyberpunk 2077! They have been silent about this game for a while (approx. 2077 days in fact!) because they pride themselves on quality and only showing their stuff when it’s ready. There was no release date given as the game is still in the oven, but I highly recommend you watch the trailer as this is surely going to be one of the best games of the decade.
Of course there are a few things I left out of smaller importance (PUBG was there for some reason?), but, onto my thoughts. I’ll keep this bit brief because I think you can already gather what my opinion is going to be - Holy shit this was the best Xbox conference in the history of Xbox conferences, maybe ever. Awesome exclusives, brand new/acquired studios, game pass improvements, many BIG world premieres, amazing games for everyone; this conference honestly felt like a show for every gamer as much as it did a show for just Xbox fans. I am excited and looking forward to the future of Xbox and the new first party games they will create. This conference seriously impressed me, and E3 has only just begun!
I don’t like thinking of E3 as a competition, but I don’t see how the others can trump this. Bethesda will be the best conference for Bethesda fans, Sony has downscaled, and Nintendo showed all its cards when it won E3 last year. This year has started on a high and I can’t see it getting any higher, which is a great feeling! If the other conferences are anything like this one, this is going to be an incredible E3!

Hub’s Kitchen Episode 5: Dragon Ball FigherZ Review: The Game Dragon Ball Fans Need
Hey guys, Hub here again, and welcome to Episode 5 of Hub’s Kitchen. Today, I’m gonna be reviewing Dragon Ball FighterZ for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. I apologize for not being active for a good while. Blame college and my okay-ish midterm grades and me getting them up for that. I’ve been wanting to talk about FighterZ for a while, and oddly enough, I didn’t think I was I gonna talk about Dragon Ball so soon on this blog. I’ll get to the point: I’m a casual Dragon Ball fan. I haven’t read the manga, but I have watched the original Dragon Ball anime as well as the Dragon Ball Z anime (well Kai anyway because fuck having to watch 291 episodes). Dragon Ball is not a masterpiece in story-telling, nobody’s gonna argue that it is. However, the fighting and character interactions make up for those shortcomings (except for GT. Fuck GT). That, and Dragon Ball Z Abridged. Watch that, it’s amazing. I have played a few DB games before, mainly the first and third Budokai games and the Legacy of Goku games on the GBA, but I haven’t played that many games from the franchise. Anyway, enough with the stalling, it’s time to review Dragon Ball FighterZ!Oh, and be prepared to see names and storylines that might not be familiar to you guys, since I’m not sure if my followers know anything ‘bout Dragon Ball.
STORY
Dragon Ball FighterZ takes place within the Dragon Ball Super timeline (aka, in between the Buu saga and Peaceful World arc from Z). When exactly? I don’t really know. I’ve seen conflicting reports from saying it takes place after the Universe 6 arc but before the Goku Black arc, other say it takes place before the Tournament of Power. I’m gonna say it takes place before the Goku Black arc, but I think FighterZ is non-canon anyway, much like the DBZ movies. Anyway, because of strange energy waves that are disrupting their power, the Z-Warriors lost all their power (or strength) and are now on the same level, and believe me, for some characters, that is a good thing ‘cause it won’t be another Goku show (That’s what GT is for). The Z-Warriors also see that a soul is trapped inside the main character of the arc (yes, I’ll get to this), and that by linking with that soul, it allows you to fight alongside the Z-Warriors. Elsewhere, there’s a new character: Android 21. All we know from the Super Warriors arc is that she resurrected some of the classic DBZ villains using the Namekian Dragon Balls, like Frieza and Cell, and plans on doing… things to them. I won’t go into spoiler territory because that’s just one of the three stories. Yes, you heard me right. FighterZ gives you three stories to play. The Super Warriors arc, which focuses on the heroes and Goku being the main character (I mean, he is Goku after all), the Villain arc, which focuses more on the villains and Frieza being the main character (man, Super really loves Frieza. Not that I mean, but still), and the Android arc, with Android 18 being the main character. Having three stories in a fighting game, a genre not known for story? Sounds awesome, right? It does… until you actually play the story mode.
Okay, so here’s the biggest problem with the story mode: There are three, fucking stories in this game, and all of them last roughly four hours long. Doesn’t sound bad yet? Well, throughout the story, you move your characters throughout different points on a map, with limit amount of movements. That never becomes a problem, so ignore that. The bad part starts with the clones. As you’re moving along map, you have to fight clones of the characters, and this gets old faaaaaaast. By the time I got to the Android saga, I was so fucking done fighting clones that I had to listen to different music, podcasts, and have something on in the background because I needed something to keep me going. That’s a huge shame because the cutscenes and the character interactions are great. Whenever you enter a fight with certain characters, you’ll get a cutscene to trigger. Let me just say: Anything, and I do mean anything with Cell is fucking gold. Go look up videos of Cell in this game. He’s fucking amazing. It’s just that having to play 3 stories, fight clones the entire time, and for roughly 12 hours too gets tedious and boring fast. It’s easily the weakest part of this game.
PRESENTATION
Dragon Ball FighterZ looks and sounds fantastic. The Unreal 4 engine was used brilliantly, and the game almost looks like it came straight from the anime. The game even lifts direct pages from the manga and anime, like the Father-Son Kamehameha and the Family Kamehameha, and they look beautiful. The characters animate well in cutscenes and on the battlefield, and many of their signature moves (take Krillin’s Destructo Disk or Kiensan for you weebs out there), look fantastic.
The soundtrack is also pretty good, if a little reliant on hard rock. Then again, I love hard rock, so I don’t mind. Sadly, because of this, the music can all blend together, and the character themes are often ignored. A lot of the character themes are great. My personal favorites being Goku, Yamcha, Hit, Gohan, and Vegeta.
The voice acting is solid too. FighterZ allows you to switch between Japanese and English, and as much as I love Masako Nozawa’s take on Goku, I’m more of a Sean Schemmel guy. Anyway, both voice casts do a great job. Got not much to say about that.
GAMEPLAY
If you’ve played Marvel Vs Capcom 2, then you’d understand how Dragon Ball FighterZ works. For the uninitiated, first off, get initiated, but more importantly, DBFZ is a 2D 3v3 style fighting game. What that means is that you have a team of 3 characters and you can tag them in and out of battle. You have your combos, tech, assists to help you in battle, super meter that allows for heavy-hitting attacks, all that good stuff. In an interesting twist, FighterZ is designed as a fighting game first, and a Dragon Ball game second. Most of the time, it’s the other way around. A lot of Dragon Ball games try to capture the feeling of the anime, even down to the gameplay. From what I’ve seen, the Tenkaichi, Raging Blast, and Xenoverse games tend to do this fairly well. While that’s well and fine, I tend to prefer a simple 2D fighter with Dragon Ball characters.
One thing that sets FighterZ apart from something like Street Fighter is that FighterZ decides to make things simpler for new players. The game has an auto-combo system. What that means is that you can press a button (let’s say square for example), and you can get a combo from that. While this is good for introducing players into the game, it’s gonna get their asses kicked if they try to spam auto-combos online. It’s recommended that you get into practicing the game’s mechanics, which the game’s first story in the story mode helps you come to grips with. Or you could try learning the mechanics in the practice mode.
The roster for FighterZ is pretty solid, but if you’re spoiled by the likes of the Budokai Tenkaichi games with their huge rosters, FighterZ might disappoint you. It has everyone important (Goku, Vegeta, both Teen and Adult Gohan, Frieza, etc) to characters from Super like Hit, Goku Black, and Beerus. The game is getting DLC, and the first two characters confirmed are Bardock (father of Goku) and Broly (one of the most popular DBZ movie villains, and is, to quote his abridged movie, is a “literal giant fucking baby”).
Like every fighting game these days, Dragon Ball FighterZ has an online mode. Sadly, this review will not be going over that because I have not played any of them yet ‘cause I don’t have a Playstation Plus subscription at the moment and need to renew it. From what I’ve heard, the online has had several problems, from games losing connection, to having a hard time finding matches, etc. Doesn’t help that the game has this stupid lobby system that you have to be online for. Sure, there’s an offline lobby, but it’s still kinda lame that the game has to have an online lobby to begin with. There recently was an update that I heard fixed some of the problems, as well as adding a Party Mode of sorts, but again, ‘cause I don’t have PS Plus, I can’t verify if that’s the case for me.
OVERALL
Dragon Ball FighterZ is definitely a welcome addition to both Dragon Ball and fighting games in general. While the story mode was a bust outside of great character cutscenes, and the game having some noticeable online problems, FighterZ excels in the most important area: the fighting. Fast-paced, frantic, and easy to play, you don’t need to be a Dragon Ball fan to enjoy this game. I highly recommend it.
And that’s it. Sorry for the lack of depth, but I wanted to try to be quick and to the point with this review, seeing as how it was my first game review. Anyway, on the next episode of Hub’s Kitchen, I’m gonna review my second movie on this blog, and one I’ve had requests for. That movie, is Coco. ‘Til next time guys. I’m Hub Pie, and thanks for reading!

So you want to sell your art...
Alright, so I’ve been noticing this with the furry community, hell, any art commissioning/selling community, that people demand lower and lower and lower prices on work. Take my advice with a grain of salt, I’m also learning on pricing my stuff as well, but this is getting ridiculous and frustrating for both customers and artists.   Artists: Biggest thing I can tell you, DON’T UNDERSELL YOURSELF! Set your prices and terms of service and stick with it! Don’t go down to a buyer’s price just because they say your stuff is too expensive, and someone else sells it cheaper. Heck, I’ve seen situations where someone wants person B to copy/work like person A’s work and they wouldn’t commission A’s work because they’re too expensive, but they are happy with B’s prices. Don’t fall for these traps! * also guys, do remember, just because someone charges A LOT for a work, it’s not just for supply and demand, but more so the time and hours put into it. AS WELL as the hours of training they’ve had, such as art school, or heck, even the many books they’ve bought or hours of YouTube they’ve watched. ** Heck, even if you’re new to the art selling community and want to get your name out and not look like an overpriced pig (even though you’re not), everyone loves this one word… SALE! Occasionally, post on your website, or in chats/pages where you’re advertising that you have a sale on certain item(s), such as adopts, or postcards, or badges, the list goes on and on! Don’t do whole site sales, because that gets boring, and change it up ever once in awhile and rotate sales. Buyers: a bit of the same and opposite advice goes to you! Artists, especially those who make art their profession, have to pay bills! Please understand that our work is set at the price for a reason. We need to eat, feed our pets, and pay for electricity, heck, even all the art supplies, programs, and delivery costs which it takes to do these works and get them to you! Anyways, talking prices for Artists. Fair warning, this is by hour pricing. I’ll do another post about flat prices on another day. -----------------------------------------------
Best way I can explain this, as a groundwork anyways, here is the groundwork Do the work you’re going to work on and time it. Say object Z takes 8 hours to make, and cost you $40 in supplies, or substitute a small percentage of the program you’re are using price. (ohmygods, I can’t believe I’m using algebra outside of math class! WTF?!) - H is for hours - When I talk about minimum wage, use your area’s minimum wage. While Oklahoma, where I live, minimum wage is only $7.25, ick, while California is $10.50 an hour(as of April 2017). Cost of living and prices of product vary from place to place, so work with - F is fraction of program or reusable material like Copics (round to nearest dollar :D customers love you for that)      - if using multimedia, like custom printing T-shirts, use both - M is for material, pretty basic - E is for Extra costs, such as extra characters, complex design, complex background, etc. Base it on what you think the extra time will be, sometimes again, time it by hour(?), I do about $2 per limb/tail extra, $10 for complex background, etc. *** N - another one I tend to put in is another charge for NSFW, just to keep my bases covered if anyone raises question on the work for whatever reason. Usually a percentage of the drawing rounded to the nearest dollar. Same as E.
[H hours x (P=at least minimum wage)] = A %(F) and/Or $(M) E ***N + ----------------------------------------------------- (TOTAL COSTS) So to give a just general idea of what I’ll be charging. (4h x $7.25)= $29 PS($30 a month) and Poser Pro($300ish for owned).... 3.5 = 1.05 + 10.50  =  $12 Complex background/$10 Male genitalia $2 + ----------------------------------- $53 See! Not so bad! Also, want to understand how long and how tedious it is for artists to make this work? Watch streams or visit them at cons and watch how they work. Even if it looks like they just draw lines and throw on color, they have to nit pick and fiddle with the lines and color and make it perfect! Well to them anyways. So in conclusion, be nice to artists. They need to eat and have electricity as well to get their work done! As for the opposite side, artists, if you ever feel pressured about your prices, don’t give, if you feel uncomfortable (I’ll go into this as well on a later post) or bullied over prices, you can happily say no. Anyways, please leave comments and questions below! Or PM me if you’re too shy to ask stuff in public. I’ll try my best to help! Thanks for dropping by! Inky Paw/Zoe
