Typically, a broken mirror symbolises that whoever is in it is somehow broken themselves. Emily reappropriates the negative meaning of this symbol and conveys to us that we can be ‘broken’ but make something out of the pieces.
I also love the parallel of these two images. In the first, Wynonna is not even part of the world the witch tried to ‘perfect’. Despite the broken mirror in the second, both Waverly and Wynonna are looking at themselves ‘broken’, and loving what they see. Waverly’s modifications on her dress is the cherry on top, adding to the idea we can change how we are shaped by our past.
