God is the Disposer of All Events

“The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh." - Proverbs 16:33

Though we would not be unnecessarily fastidious in condemning the use of any particular term where we knew that in its popular sense it was not very exceptionable, yet we cannot altogether approve the use of such terms as "luck" and "chance" and "fortune." Even though persons who adopt these kind of expressions do not intend to deny the doctrine of a superintending Divine providence, yet we cannot but think that such language tends exceedingly to weaken a sense of God's Providence upon the soul. It excludes his agency from the affairs of men and regards them as left to mere and absolute contingency. But with the Scriptures in our hands, we are perfectly assured that all things, however casual or contingent with respect to man, are under the control of a Superintending Providence; or, as it is said in our text, "The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh."

In confirmation of this truth we shall show, first, that God is the disposer of all events, and second, that he is constantly to be regarded by us in this character.

All events, whatever kind they may be, are equally under the direction of Almighty God. He disposes of the things which are most dependent on human agency, such as the government of kingdoms. Although the powers of the human mind are called forth and concentrated in governmental administration, yet the commencement and continuance of any kingdom is altogether under the direction of a superior power. Also, the success of all human plans--whether relating to military enterprises, commercial speculations, agricultural pursuits, or matters of inferior moment and of daily occurrence--depends entirely on God. It was God who directed the arrow to Ahab's heart, though it was drawn at random. It was God who directed the stone out of David's sling to Goliath's forehead. In a word, God "works all things after the counsel of his own will," and "his counsel shall stand, and he will do all his pleasure."

All events independent of human agency are under the direction of Almighty God. Nothing has less dependence on human skill or foresight than a lot. In respect to the outcome of such a random drawing, an utterly foolish man is on a par with the wisest man in the universe. But the outcome is entirely at God's disposal, as all who acknowledge the existence of a Deity have confessed by resorting to it on emergencies. The Apostles had recourse to it when they determined who would be the successor of Judas. The heathen sailors had recourse to it, after which Jonah was found to be the cause of their danger.

But in the event these instances are thought to be merely casual, since the chances against each were not very great, we will adduce one which marks beyond all possibility of doubt the Divine interposition. In the language of chances, it was above a million to one that the lot would fall on the very person to whom God infallibly directed it. We speak here of Achan, the man who had troubled the camp of Israel. The lot fell first on the right tribe, then on the right family of that tribe, then on the right household, and lastly on the right individual in that household.

Our second point is that God should always be regarded as the disposer of every event. We should trace his hand in everything that is past. Have we been loaded with benefits? They must be received as from Him, "from whom comes every good and perfect gift." It does not matter whether our blessings came by inheritance or were the fruit of our own industry. To God, and to God alone, must they be acknowledged as their proper source. Have we, on the other hand, been visited with afflictions? We should know that they did not just spring up from the ground but proceeded from his gracious hand.

We should trace God's hand in everything that is future. If nothing can occur without his special appointment, how safely may we commit to him our every concern, and how confidently may we expect a happy issue of every occurrence! Can we do better than leave ourselves at his disposal? Were it possible that he should err, or that having devised anything he should be unable to accomplish it, or that having begun to accomplish it he should change his purpose and alter his dispensations, we might then not feel so well satisfied with having everything subject to his disposal. But when infinite wisdom and goodness concur to direct all our concerns, and infinite power also engages to overrule everything for our good, we may well dismiss every fear, saying with the Apostle, "I know whom I have believed, and that he is able to keep that which I have committed to him." We may be as composed as Hezekiah when surrounded by Sennacherib's army, or as Elisha when surrounded by the army of the king of Syria.

Hence, let us see the excellence of faith. This is the principle which beyond any other honors and glorifies God. By faith we are prepared to receive everything as from him, and to say, "It is the Lord; let him do what seems good to him." Mere reason, though it may acknowledge these truths, can never enable us to realize them. But "by faith we see Him who is invisible," and learn to acknowledge him as much "in the falling of a sparrow" as in the ruin of an empire.

Whatever confederacies may be against you, it is your privilege to know that "no weapon that has been formed against you can prosper." God has said that "all things shall work together for your good." And they shall do so, however much you may be at a loss to conceive in what way the good shall be elicited.

“When God Gave Me More Than I Could Handle” By Dr Michelle Bengtson:

“People, Christians included, often say that God won’t give you any more than you can handle, but that’s just not true. We’ve gotten it all wrong. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that God won’t give us more than we can handle. It says he won’t let us be tempted beyond what we can bear, and that he will provide a way out of temptation so that we can handle it.

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

But that’s talking about temptation, not enduring the trials and hardships of life. I would go so far as to say that God absolutely does give us more than we can handle! But He does so for a purpose. To those who so often say to me, “I don’t know how you handle everything you’ve been given,” I don’t. Repeatedly God has brought me to the place where I can’t handle it on my own. I can’t do it without Him.

Life is hard. Life is weighty. Life is overwhelming. We can’t do it alone, without Him. That’s why Jesus comforted us with the promise that,

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Jesus doesn’t ask us to carry the load by ourselves. Jesus beckons us to find our refuge, our strength, our peace in Him when life is just more than we can handle on our own.

When you feel like giving up, giving in, and letting go, God is holding on to you. When we experience difficulties that are too great for us to handle, they remind us that we must depend on God.

“For I am the LORD your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you’” (Isaiah 41:13).

“The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble” (Psalm 9:9).

When you’re weak, God wants to be strong for you. He wants to be the rock that you lean on, the strong tower that you run to. The times that overwhelm us show us that God is our source of strength.

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him” (Psalm 28:7).

“But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in time of trouble” (Psalm 37:39-40).

The times that overwhelm us show us that God is our source of strength. When you feel weak, lost, and scared, not even sure where your next breath will come from, take God’s hand and know that He’s going to help you through it, one moment at a time. The times that are too difficult to handle on our own teach us to trust God even when we cannot see.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

“Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock” (Isaiah 26:4).

When all you can do is cry, God is a safe place to do that because He promises to dry your eyes. When we are faced with difficulties that are more than we can handle on our own, we have an opportunity to experience God as our refuge.

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

“As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him” (Psalm 18:30).

We will go through the hard times but never alone or without His helpful, guiding hand. So, does God give us more than we can handle on our own? Yes. But He makes us a promise that is worth holding onto:

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you” (Isaiah 43:2).

We will go through the hard times, the fiery times, the overwhelming times, but never alone, and never without His helpful, guiding hand.

The question is, will you trust Him with those heavy, overwhelming burdens that are more than you can handle?

Commentary: In Psalm 119:105, the psalmist declares, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." The Word of God serves as a guiding light, illuminating our way and directing our steps in the midst of darkness and uncertainty.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 affirms the divine inspiration and authority of Scripture, declaring that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

It penetrates deep into the innermost recesses of our being, exposing truth and bringing transformation.

James 1:22-25 admonishes believers not only to be hearers of the Word but also doers, for blessed are those who hear the Word and obey it. The Word of God is likened to a mirror, reflecting our true spiritual condition and revealing areas in need of alignment with God's will.

John 15:1-17 - Jesus' teaching on abiding in Him as the vine and bearing fruit.

Colossians 3:12-17 - Paul's exhortation to clothe ourselves with virtues such as kindness, humility, and forgiveness.

Matthew 7:16-20 - Jesus' teaching on recognizing false prophets by their fruits.

Ephesians 5:9 - Paul describes the fruit of the Spirit as being in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.

Matthew 12:33 - Jesus speaks about how a tree is known by its fruit.

James 3:17-18 - James describes the wisdom from above as being pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of good fruits.

What should have our attention?

Ecclesiastes 7:13

Accept the way God does things, for who can straighten what he has made crooked?

John 5:19

So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.”

We should pay attention to what God is doing and the way he is working in our lives and in the world around us.

Hebrews 2:3-4

So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.

Luke 8:18

So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.

1 Corinthians 2:2

For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.

We should pay attention to the message Jesus has for us. What Jesus says is reinforced by who he is—God’s Son. If Jesus was not God’s Son, he would be incapable of raising us from the dead. He would have no power to save us and take us to heaven. Think of the most important person on earth. If that person wanted to talk with you, would you listen? Would you give him or her your full attention? How much more important is the Son of God!

Psalm 119:78

I will concentrate on your commandments.

2 Peter 1:19

Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.

God’s Word deserves our attention. Through his Word, God speaks to us and brings us life that last forever.

Proverbs 16:20

Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.

Proverbs 19:27

If you stop listening to instruction, my child, you will turn your back on knowledge.

Proverbs 22:17

Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction.

Proverbs 5:13

Oh, why didn’t I listen to my teachers? Why didn’t I pay attention to my instructors?

Proverbs 5:1

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel.

It’s essential to pay attention to the instruction we receive from God’s Word and from wise counselors or teachers. If we don’t, we may be turning our backs on God himself.

Matthew 7:15

Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.

Matthew 16:11-12

Why can’t you understand that I’m not talking about bread? So again I say, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’” Then at last they understood that he wasn’t speaking about the yeast in bread, but about the deceptive teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

We must be alert to the deception of false prophets and false teachers, those who twist God’s Word to make it say whatever they want. Pay attention to their wiles, but not their words. If a person is not speaking for God, we should not accept that person’s teaching as from God.

Mark 13:32-33

However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!

Luke 21:31, 34-36

In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that the Kingdom of God is near . . . Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.

1 Thessalonians 5:4-6

But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.

Be prepared for the day when Jesus promised he would return again by paying attention to the way you live. Live as if he is coming back today.

Ephesians 6:18

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Colossians 4:2

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Matthew 26:41

Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!

Your prayer life deserves your focused attention. That’s how you best connect to God himself.

1 Corinthians 16:13

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.

1 Timothy 4:16

Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.

1 Timothy 4:8

Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.

The growth and strengthening of our spiritual lives deserves our attention. If it pays to exercise our bodies so we keep them healthy, how much more it pays to build our souls so they are healthy.

A lot of Christians like to use "Honor thy father and mother" to shame you for cutting off family members, regardless of how abusive, narcissistic, or generally unhealthy they are to you and/or the rest of your family. And this really irritates me.

For some reason, they (in reference to Christians who do say this) seem to think it's the child's responsibility to parent their own parents, despite them literally being the child. "You have to make it work", "You are supposed to support your family", "you need to try and make it work; they're your family".

Like, that's not what "Honor thy father and mother" means, at least not to that extent. They are missing the "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4) part of the equation.

Or: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)

The Bible even says to cut these people off:

“But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber. Do not even eat with such a one.” (1 Corinithians 5:11)

“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.” (Romans 16:17)

“As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him.” (Titus 3:10)

“Do not be deceived: Bad company ruins good morals.” (1 Corinithians 15:33)

“Stay away from a fool, for you will not find knowledge on their lips.” (Proverbs 14:7)

Sometimes, you have to let people go, even family. You can't force someone to change, force someone to stop their actions, or force someone to take responsibility. They must do that on their own, especially if they are an adult.

Don't feel shame for cutting off a family member who's doing you harm. You can't keep chasing after someone who won't change.

What does Proverbs 13:1 mean?

A recurring theme in the book of Proverbs is the value of taking good advice (Proverbs 1:7–8; 8:33). The person defined as a "scoffer" is one who sneers or laughs at knowledge instead of learning from it (Proverbs 1:22). Learning from our own mistakes is part of life; choosing to learn from the mistakes of others is especially wise. When a father, or other worthy figure, offers their perspective, it's a good idea to take them seriously (Proverbs 12:1, 15).

Some people carry a superior attitude; they think they know more than the people who try to correct them. If someone goes through life thinking he is beyond reproach, he will face a rude awakening. Pride precedes destruction, according to Proverbs 16:18. In his first letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul tells Timothy a recent convert should not become an overseer because "he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil" (1 Timothy 3:6). Proverbs 29:1 affirms, "He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing."

“Follow all the directions the LORD your God has given you. Life will go well for you.” —Deuteronomy 5:33 (GW)

“Obedience Is the Key That Unlocks God’s Promises” By Rick Warren:

“Have you ever thought about the link between faith and obedience? When you trust someone, you do what they say. If you don’t do what someone tells you to do, it means you don’t trust them.

In the Bible, God links faith and obedience over and over again. The promises of God are conditioned on you following the directions he gives you.

Deuteronomy 5:33 says, “Follow all the directions the Lord your God has given you. Life will go well for you” (GW).

God has made some incredible, specific promises in his Word about obedience. In fact, there are so many promises that I can’t list them all here. But here are a few:

“God blesses those who obey him” (Proverbs 16:20 TLB).

“He saves those who obey him” (Psalm 7:10 GNT).

“The Lord watches over those who obey him” (Psalm 33:18 GNT).

“The Lord takes care of those who obey him” (Psalm 37:18 GNT).

“God gives us what we ask for because we obey God’s commands” (1 John 3:22 NCV).

“Always obey the Lord and you will be happy” (Proverbs 28:14 GNT).

“Keep God’s laws and you will live longer” (Proverbs 19:16 GNT).

“Those who obey him have all they need . . . Those who obey the Lord lack nothing good” (Psalm 34:9-10 GNT).

That’s an incredible list of promises. If you follow God’s directions, you’ll be blessed, saved, watched over, taken care of, given what you ask for, and happy; you’ll live longer and lack nothing good.

Obedience is the premise behind all of the promises. God gives you his promises by grace. But you get to enjoy his promises when you follow his instructions.

Sometimes you understand God’s instructions. But sometimes you don’t. And you need to obey whether or not you understand.

Some of God’s commands might sound confusing. Some may seem unfair. For example, the Bible says to take the first 10 percent of your income and give it back to him. It says that when people do evil to you, you are to do good back to them. These things don’t always make sense from a human standpoint. But the things that don’t make sense to us are the things God asks us to do by faith. He wants us to trust him and obey anyway.

I want you to enjoy all of God’s promises. Obedience is the key that unlocks them. Choose to follow his directions today in faith. He promises to reward you for your obedience.”

Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. Psalm 115:3

When I read this verse in psalm 115, I am reminded that many may read it and be discouraged. But if you KNOW The One you have believed, you can only rejoice and know deep in your knower that He is GOOD, and all of His ways with us are loving and purposeful, strategic and caring, unerring and perfect.

To have faith is to KNOW this God and to believe in His goodness.

The Bible says He does not afflict or grieve His children from His heart ~ it does not give Him pleasure. (Lamentations 3:33)

So if He has allowed some hard things in your life they are there for a purpose. Rather than focus on these things, focus on the GOOD GOD Who has allowed them and pray that His will and purposes in allowing it is accomplished.

Bad things send us to His feet, His heart, and His Word. Bad things cause us to be stretched in our faith and grow stronger. Sometimes bad things are consequences we have brought on ourselves - but still He is good even in our consequences! Bad things equal good things in the hand of the Lord. We can trust Him with it all.

Knowing the goodness of God, we can say with confidence: “I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. 2ndTimothy 1:12

“God’s sovereignty does not begin at death. His sovereign direction in our lives even precedes our births. God rules as surely on earth as he does in heaven. He permits, for reasons known only to himself, people to act contrary to and in defiance of his revealed will. But he never permits them to act contrary to his sovereign will.

Our plans can succeed only when they are consistent with God’s purpose, and no plan can succeed against him.

(Proverbs 16:9; 19:21; 21:30).

No one can straighten what he makes crooked or make crooked what he has made straight (Ecclesiastes 7:13).

No one can say, "I’ll do this or that," and have it happen if it is not part of God’s sovereign will (James 4:15).

Seeking Communion – August 22, 2023

Song of Solomon 4:16 - "Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my Beloved come into His garden, and eat His pleasant fruits." This is a new day, let the Son arise with healing in His wings and let the wind of God take you to a new realm of faith and understanding in this hour for such a time as this. Choose life, and to live that life abundantly. It's not too late, it's time to begin again. It is the time for a new season of love and drinking of the new wine. It's time to be intoxicated with His love and come into the chamber – into His presence to meet with Him. He will meet with you in that secret place and show you the secrets of His heart

YOU CAN TRUST HIM He does not withhold any good thing from you, you can trust Him with your all your heart. He desires that you prosper even as your soul prospers (3 John 2). This is a time of sowing and reaping in spiritual prosperity; of seeking first the Kingdom of God and all the things you need or ever wanted shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33). This is a time of manifestation and breakthrough; of new birth where we realize that the dream is His dream and the desire is His desire.

He is a faithful, faithful God! Always faithful. He is looking – seeking for a faithful Bride. The power is in your tongue (Proverbs 18:21) and the words of the Lord are in your mouth and they are God-breathed.

Speak the Words He Puts in Your Mouth.

Be bold and stand in the power of His Spirit with HIS words in your mouth. Fresh breath of life on the things that have died or laid dormant; dreams that seemed to have been lost but not forgotten will suddenly be realized. He is doing a new thing in you and it's a sudden thing!

ARISE AND SHINE He is fanning the flame of His fire and passion in His people to burn with love and desire for the things of His heart; for the things of His Kingdom. He is saying, "It's time to arise and shine." SO ARISE!

The wind of God will bring a fresh revelation and understanding. It will bring understanding for the Word of God, and fresh hunger and for His Word and His presence. Hebrew 4:12 - "For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

CONSECRATE YOURSELVES This is a time of consecration and separation of the world; but not of your relationships that are God-ordained and in covenant commitment. Put off the old man and PUT ON THE NEW (Ephesians 4:24). This is an exhortation to discover and move forward in God's CALLING ON YOUR LIFE.

Leave the familiar and breaking the cycle of your fleshly desires, ways and mind-sets -- break the lies that say the grass is greener on the other side, when in fact the grass is dried up, full of weeds and thorns – where there is no water or life in the carnal ways of man.

Psalms chapter 69

1 (To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.) Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

6 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.

7 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.

9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.

11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.

12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

16 Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

20 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

22 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.

24 Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.

27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

29 But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.

30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

31 This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.

33 For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.

35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
