Flax Seed Uses
How do I use flax seeds?
You may eat them whole or grind into flour for baking. I recommend that you grind them into flour before using them because it makes them easier to digest. If you are going to bake with ground flaxseeds, make sure they have been preground so that there aren’t any large pieces left over from grinding. You can use a coffee grinder to grind flaxseeds into flour.
You can also add flax meal to smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt, salads, soups, stir fries, casseroles, baked goods, etc. It will thicken up sauces and dressings as well.
Is ground flax the same as flaxseed?
No! Flax is a plant while flaxseed is made by processing the entire flax plant. Ground flax has had its hulls removed which means that some of the nutrients in the original seed were lost during this process. You should always buy raw flaxseed rather than processed flaxmeal.
What can you put ground flax seed in?
The most ideal way of eating ground flaxseed is with ground dates. You can buy flaxseed laddu from Sampoorna Ahara which comes enriched with Vitamin B12.
Health Benefits Of Flaxseeds
The potential health benefits of flax are many, but here we will discuss some of them:
1) can be used as a source of protein
2) rich in dietary fibers which helps digestion

34) helps to clear clog in blood vessels
35) reduces insulin restitivity
36) helps to potentially reverse insulin resistance
37) reduces risk of heart disease
38) great source of lignans
Does Flaxseed give you omega-3?
Flax seed is a rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids. The most common form is alpha linolenic acid. ALA can be converted to eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid.
Omega-3 essential fatty acids are an essential nutrient that helps the body produce hormones, regulate blood clotting, maintain healthy skin and hair, keep your eyes clear, build strong bones, prevent heart disease, lower cholesterol levels, reduce inflammation in joints, improve mental health, help with weight loss, and more! Flaxseed is the top of the list on health foods.
Which seeds are rich in omega-3?
Sesame Seeds: Sesamum Indicum
Pumpkin Seeds: Cucurbita Pepo L.
Sunflower Seeds: Helianthus Annuus L.
Chia Seeds: Salvia hispanica L.
Hemp Seeds: Cannabis Sativa L.
How much flaxseed should I eat per day?
The recommended daily intake for adults is 2 tablespoons or 1 tablespoon. This may vary depending on age, gender, activity level, medical condition, etc. Talk to your doctor about how much flaxseed you need each day based on these factors.
What if my stomach doesn't like it?
If you have any digestive issues such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, gas, bloating, constipation, indigestion, reflux, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's Disease, colitis, diverticulosis, gastritis, gallbladder problems, liver damage, pancreatitis, peptic ulcer, or other gastrointestinal conditions, talk to your healthcare provider before using flaxseed products.
Is flaxseed good for females?
Yes, but only when used correctly. Women who are on medication must first consult your doctor before consuming flaxseed because they could increase their risk of developing certain complications. If you're taking oral contraceptive medication, ask your physician first.
Can I drink alcohol while eating flaxseed?
No. Alcohol will decrease absorption of nutrients from foods including flaxseed. It also increases the likelihood of having adverse reactions to flaxseed.

Health benefits of eating traditional snacks
With the change in time and introduction of new food items, our habit of eating has seen a tremendous change. We have completely ignored our traditional snacks and shifted our interest towards other eatables. It is really sad that today’s generation has failed to understand the importance of consuming traditional snacks. We no longer see kids getting excited about the laddus made by their grandmothers. Instead, they would love to have French fries and burger from outside. In this context, we have taken a small effort to rejuvenate the trend of traditional snacks. It is high time we should bring back the essence of our tradition in snack ideas.

We already mentioned that canned snacks are likely to make you lethargic. It may not be wise for students and young working professionals to consume such snacks. It will reduce your focus and you will start feeling drowsy after few hours of consuming it.
 Long lasting and portable
Have you ever noticed the viability of Indian snacks? Let us particularly focus on south Indian snacks. Buy crunchy murukkus and you can travel the entire nation without missing burger and pasta. Traditional snacks are really long lasting. They do not easily get affected by fungus and microbes if cooked properly.
 Myths and facts about snacking
There are several rumoured facts that we come across about snacks available to us. Is it necessary to believe or do research about each one of them? Certainly not! If you want to believe anything, just remember that “it’s all in mind.” Believe this fact and you will never complain about negative effects of snacking.
It is clinically proven that if you take appropriate snacks in subsequent quantities then you are likely to gain 72% less weight. One must know the technique of combining yum with healthy ingredients. If you love cheese, you can consume it along with a salad. This will help you in compensating the fat, vitamins, fibre, and carbohydrates.
Similarly, one must eat the traditional snack when hungry after breakfast or before dinner. It will prevent accumulation of abdominal fat. We have been repeating the fact that traditional Indian snacks are made from the staple raw ingredients. Hence, it will hardly add extra calories to your body.
Who said reducing the portion of your meal will flatten the curves of your body? It is all about balancing your calories and maintaining the nutrition value. There are people who consume two meals and feel lethargic. But, there are also people who consume three meals and three snacks and still manage to maintain their flat tummy. The mantra is to increase the frequency of intake and work enough to balance the calories.

How To Gain Weight | Ways To Gain Weight
How To Gain Weight | Ways To Gain Weight
Hey everyone
Today I am going to talk about my journey of “blessed with the healthy normal body – sickly thin – gradually gaining normal weight”. Let me give a brief intro about my body type and height. I stand at 5’7” and during my 12th std, I used to weigh around 51 kgs. Chubby cheeks, 28 waistline, normal eating habits, zero exercises. Then started college, and with it came along erratic lecture timings, skipping breakfast became a routine and I started eating unhealthy junk food and started losing weight. I remember eating just one masala dosa till 4 o clock. My friends started saying how I am looking leaner and my cheekbones are so well defined now. My waist size reduced to 26, I was looking leaner and umm better.
Tumblr media
but then that din stop at that I started losing weight and hair at an alarming rate. Very soon those cheeks became hollow and oh so cute dimples started looking too deep to be cute :(.My weight during my final year was 40 kgs and my waist size 23. Shudder!!
Root causes of losing weight:
Skipping breakfast. It was my biggest mistake.
Staying hungry for hours at a stretch.
Suppressing hunger by drinking water.
Zero exercises.
Not CARING that I am looking like an almost bald ghost. :O
My body was giving me signals for a long, but I didn’t pay much attention. My lush mane started deserting my scalp; my normal glowing skin became dry and stretchy. My calf muscles used to ache a lot and there were frequent cramps. My periods became irregular; imagine chums in every 15 days. My immunity system went haywire. Every few days I used to get the flu. Then I thought of taking charge of the situation, started with light stretching exercises and ‘Alloo Ke Paranthe’ for breakfast.
Tumblr media
I even started eating a banana as my mid-day snack. I continued this “I am on a serious weight gain mission diet” for around 2 months with zero results.
Left Pic – Before, Right Pic – After
I had to seek medical help. A blood test showed expected results, a very low haemoglobin count. The actual surprise was my thyroid test results. My TSH was high, around 8. Generally increased TSH count means weight gain, delayed periods, in short, all the opposite symptoms. Dr said I cannot eat thyroid medicines. So I started with biotin and iron supplements. My diet changed a lot. I consciously started eating healthy and now after 1 year, I weigh 49 kgs and those dimples are oh so cute again!! Yes, I am vain..:D
My dietician asked me to eat at regular intervals. She made a very scary looking diet chart, which I was sure I won’t follow. So I tweaked a little and now I have my own healthy diet plan.
  My daily routine:
7:00 am wake up –
Getting up a little early helps a lot. Freshen up! Drink a glass of water. And then I go to the terrace for some fresh air and light stretching. At times I do yoga (basic Pranayam and Bhramari) or I just do some jogging/ brisk walking for 15 mins. When I am not in a mood to do any such thing then I just put on some music and do some energetic dancing.
Tumblr media
Breakfast
one small plate Poha along with cheese sandwich or idli and a bowl of fruit or Alloo Parantha with yoghurt followed by a cup of tea.
11 am- fruit time
(Apple, banana or pear) and my protein shake. Amway protein powder is one thing that has seriously helped me a lot. I have tried many protein powders and biscuits, but this one wins hands down. I hate its taste with milk. So I mix it with juice and gulp it down. It keeps me full but at the same time doesn’t kill my desire for lunch.
2 pm: Lunch-
(Chapati, curry, salad and some sweet) Yes eating something sweet helps put on weight. I love Motichur laddu. yum!
6 pm:
That is when I come home from work. I binge on Maggi or besan chilla or something hot and spicy with my evening cup of tea.
9 pm: Dinner-
Dinner comprises of one big bowl of dal and 2 chapatis along with whatever sabzi mummy has made.
I know my diet should end with milk. But I don’t really like the taste of milk, so skip it most of the times. I keep changing it here and there. Let’s say I am bored of fruits then I start with dry fruits. At times I have sinful cheesy sandwiches for my evening snack and skip dinner. I am a human and I LOVE cheese. But I always make sure I am eating at regular intervals and I am always energetic. J
So that’s all about it! All we need is a little bit of motivation; I made a rule for myself. One kilo gain equals one lipstick. That certainly helped a LOT.
