i think the funniest thing someone with boobs could do is to get tattoos that look exactly like top surgery scars and if anyone ever asks respond with a different cryptic non-answer each time
some suggestions:
yeah that didn’t stick
i changed my mind
do NOT get top surgery at claire’s they will fuck your shit up
i’m like prometheus. every day i chop these bad boys off and every night they fucking grow back just to spite me
i got bored and glued them back on myself
etc etc

Where are my fellow Gothic Fiction fans? Surely some of you ended up in here somewhere. Come out I need you.
Tumblr media
I want to draw them more, please feel free to suggest scenarios. I feel like they need to interact. Let the fanfiction begin!
I even made a reference sheet for them and everything. I just need to practise some more. Let’s just pretend they’re my OCs.
Edit: there are now more doodles. Find them under the #Sariel's Victorian disaster men tag

Prometheus knew the consequences.
They don’t tell you that, when your English teacher makes an offhand comment about Prometheus stealing fire.
Prometheus’ name means forethought, and he had some amount of knowledge of the future.
Do you think, as he tucked the fire into the fennel stalk, even then he could feel the eagle’s beak in his stomach, devouring his liver?
Do you think he could already feel the chains as he handed fire to the humans?
Do you think he knew that, and thought it worth his sacrifice?

do you guys think aziraphale heard the myth of prometheus for the first time and lost his mind a little
#marzi speaks#good omens#aziraphale#this is lighthearted but also not at all. i just don’t have big words rn#can you imagine though. aziraphale is gomensverse’s prometheus#he brought humans fire.#do you think he heard of prometheus and suddenly his fear of disobeying god reared its ugly head with a vengeance#do you think he remembered lying to god about it. wondered if it was that that would do him in instead of the original theft#do you think he spent nights upon nights wondering when he would be chained to his rock#wondering when his crow would come eat his liver for all of eternity#do you think he wondered if it already had?#not in the shape of a crow- but of a snake- a charming snake that slithered over and ate his heart again and again and again#he had appeared shortly after aziraphale gave up the sword; after all. aziraphale told him and everything#perhaps that was his punishment. perhaps She was playing a cruel little game by sending him someone he wanted so much but could never have#maybe that was the rock. the chain. the inability to move- to do anything more than sit there in anguish#the crow came in the form of that sharp mind and clever tongue. it dug straight to the core of his heart and tore it to shreds#picked it apart; observed; and ate#do you think he worried on and off about that for centuries. millenia#do you think he thought about it every time that demon of his did something so utterly charming#‘oh- there’s another piece of my heart- a morsel for him to savor again and again’#do you think he thought about it when he kissed. felt those lips on his like a sharp beak straight through his body#do you think he minded. do you think he thought ‘i would lay in these chains forever if you would just do that again; right now.’#do you think he broke those chains anyway.#I’M INSAAANE turns out i did have big words for it

The first book of my Frankenstein month!
Pride and Prometheus asks what if Mary Bennet, spinster with an interest in natural science, met Victor Frankenstein and helped him create his creature's bride.
It was sweet and funny and very charming. I think John Kessel did an admirable job with the characterisations as well as the plot. I have to admit, I was a little surprised by the direction it went it but in a good way. Also I just adore the cover.
Pacing is a bit slow with a few more action packed moments, but I think that made it feel more gothic and in keeping with the tone of Frankenstein especially. From what I've seen in other people's reviews, the ending wasn't super well received but I had no problems with it. I will say, don't go in expecting an Austenesque ending though. I think Pride and Prometheus is very much characters from Austen dropped into the world and tone of Shelley, not the other way round.
I loved it and I'm very glad I started the month with it.

In case anyone is ever confused as to WHY the Engineers we see in Covenant look different:
It's because they don't force everyone/everything to adapt to their progressive advancements in technology.
Their cities, despite looking ancient, are actually designed to be like time capsules, or marks of their history and development.
It's a cultural thing.
This is mentioned in the David 8 art book, by the way. PLEASE go buy it if you can. It's amazing.

Peter Weyland is transphobic, I think. Vickers is his daughter, and Weyland shows more affection and attention to David, specifically saying that David is "The closest thing to a son [he's] ever had". Vickers could have been born a boy, transitioned to a woman, and somewhere along the way deeply disappointed Weyland

Approaching the character of the Creature with enough nuance to know that he's not 100% bad and evil and entirely unforgivable as a person but also not 100% pure and wholesome and forgivable is apparently a skill that far too many people severely lack 😐
Saying it louder for people in the back:
>Trauma does not excuse causing harm
>Having been abused absolutely does not excuse causing harm
>Causing harm does not immediately make a person a soulless monster
>Causing harm does not immediately make a person permanently evil
>Having a legitimate reason to cause harm does not excuse the harm caused
>Having a legitimate reason for toxic mindsets/beliefs does not excuse those toxic mindsets/beliefs
>People should be allowed and encouraged to grow and change and become better people - yes, even if they have done or said unforgivable things in the past
>You are not obligated to forgive people for things they have done in the past, nor are you obligated to like any person, nor are you obligated to interact with any person
>Just because you are not obligated to forgive people, like people, or interact with people, that does not give you permission to cause them harm
>The Creature canonically repents for and regrets everything he has ever done. People are well within their right to believe he may actually have had a chance to become a better person
>People are also well within their right to say 'to hell with that apology, I still don't like him as a character and I personally can't get past all the awful things he did'
>People are not within their right to say that "all people should love and cherish this particular character" or "all people should hate and despise this particular character" because in this novel there are no truly good or evil characters (except Felix DeLacey fuck Felix DeLacey /hj /lh)

Writing a oneshot about Prometheus and Leo and holy shit Prometheus is a delight to write (i dont fucking care that he sides with Kronos canonically, Rick you can have Aphrodite, Ares and Loki but you ain't fucking up our guy Prometheus)
Hes just being mildly passive agressive towards Zeus and interupting him.
He cant say anything outwardly cus Zeus is the one that can make his punishment worse but that wont stop him from interupting Zeus telling him about a prophecy to ask about Apollo's wellbeing after giving the prophecy or internally comparing Zeus to a toddler.

The Frankenstein obsession really paid off tonight. I was at Halloween trivia, our team was tied for first place and the tie-breaker question was "what year was Mary Shelley's Frankenstein originally published in London?" And when I tell you we all freaked out, they threw the phone at me and I typed in "1818" faster than it took Victor to abandon his creation it was insane. I'm not even joking the bar clapped when they said we got it right because we so loudly freaked out when they put the question on the screen.
Anyways Happy Halloween everyone should read the 1818 edition of Frankenstein :)

Your suffering is not eternal.
Maybe you're not Sisyphus, rolling his boulder up a hill day after day. Maybe you're not Tantalus, food and water slipping through your fingers forever.
Perhaps, you are Prometheus. And all you need is someone to come along and give you a hand.
