okay consider:

in Losing My Motivation, after realizing that the problem is that Logan didn't make a plan to avoid procrastination Thomas says "Yes maybe I slipped up by not having you, Logic, plan ahead to avoid this situation."

and this particular quote reminded me of the ending of Why Do We Get Out Of Bed In The Morning when Logan points out that Thomas made a mistake by not asking Roman for help when thinking of an idea for the video.

like both are instances of Thomas not taking the time to ask a particular Side for help and then acting without thinking.

However the second mistake is treated as purely Thomas's fault, and Prince is just like, i don't know why you didn't call me, please ask me next time, WHILE in the first case Logan is the one that is at fault, mostly in Logan's own eyes. it's his fault not making the plan, not Thomas's for not asking him to make one.

and like of course i'm overthinking because we got no material so i have to look for scraps but i feel like this is another proof of how harsh Logan is on himself in that episode. and at this point Roman isn't so insecure but he will grow to have the same habit and blame himself for not doing enough, when, just like in those two videos mentioned, it's not entirely one Side's fault that things go wrong, they were just not given their proper place.

TLDR: Remus accidentally consumed a bit of Patton's rejected emotions while 'helping' Janus clean out the tank of basically Side Function juices. (there's no wording that to not be weird) And neither of them realize it happening in the moment until it's way too late to do anything about it... AKA, Remus births Virgil from his head.

....I'm actually writing for once. What a surprise.

Summary: Logan and Remus are at war in Thomas' mind, leading Logan to stress quite a bit. Remy just wants his boyfriend to sleep.

I stared at the paper in front of me, barely able to read my writing through my blurry vision. Everyone else was asleep, including Sleep himself. I glanced over at my bed. Remy was curled up under the covers, his breathing deep and even. I smiled to myself before returning to my work.

The last few days had been difficult for everyone. Remus pushed Thomas to be even more lazy than usual. As a result, Thomas was very behind in his posting schedule and I have to work overtime in order to get things back on track.

The others really didn't help much, either. Roman only wanted Thomas to stay on track as long as Thomas was doing something creative. Virgil went from being anxious about procrastinating to being anxious about screwing something up. As such, I didn't have much help.

I blinked a few times to clear my vision, rubbing at my eyes. I returned my focus to my work. Time passed very quickly and before long I heard the sounds of the other Sides getting up and moving in the hallway. I yawned and stretched, glancing over at Remy. To my surprise, his eyes were open and he was looking over at me.

"Good morning," I said. "You're up early."

"So are you." Remy sat up, running a hand through his hair. "What time did you come to bed last night? I didn't feel you get into bed."

I averted my eyes briefly. "I went to sleep not long after you did. I woke at the same time I usually do." My lie wasn't well thought out so I wasn't surprised when Remy gave me a disapproving look.

"I love you, hun, but I wish you wouldn't lie to me. I can feel when people are asleep, even when I'm also sleeping. I didn't feel you at all last night. Were you still working on that new schedule?"

I sighed. "Yes. Thomas has so much responsibility now, to his fans and to his friends. He's so far behind on everything he's promised. I know his friends and fans are understanding, but at some point they have to reach their limit."

"That's a possibility. However, you really aren't accomplishing much. Remus has managed to get Thomas off track and maintain a decent sleep schedule. If you aren't at your best, you won't be able to overcome his influence on Thomas." Remy stood, walking over to me and offering me his hand. "You should sleep. A few more hours isn't going to do much difference in the long run."

Remy made several good points, but part of me didn't want to stop my work. I knew Remy wouldn't give up, though, so I said, "Alright. But just for a few hours. No one else seems to want Thomas to stay on track. I have to keep Thomas focused."

He nodded. "Okay. Sleep first." He tugged on my hand and I stood. Remy snapped his fingers. My clothes changed in something more comfortable for sleep. He led me over to the bed, laying down with me.

I felt my eyes getting heavier, unsure whether that was due to my own tiredness or Remy's influence. Remy hummed quietly, running a hand through my hair. "Do you want some help sleeping?"

I nodded with no hesitation. Sleeping with Remy's help always made me feel more rested than usual. Remy's hand stilled in my hair and I felt his power sweep through me. Warmth spread through me and, just like that, my eyes closed and I feel asleep.

 The messenger from Erestra found Logan first with the news, and Logan went straight to Patton.

 “Patton. We must speak.”

 They were downstairs in the vault. Centauri mages had already cleared away most of the destruction left behind by the theft, but Patton had insisted on checking the enchantments on each of the items stored here himself. Thus far, all other items seemed to be accounted for.

 “Hey, kiddo.” Patton closed his spellbook, and turned to face Logan. The space was lit by Patton’s pale blue Dancing Lights spell. Logan was, as always, comforted by the morning-breeze scent that accompanied the presence of Patton’s magic. “What’s up?”

 Logan held up the scroll the Erestrian messenger had given him. “There’s been an attack on Ashva Serin.”

 “That’s… impossible,” Patton said, brow furrowing. “There’s been no reports of Stormhold movement.”

 “Regardless, the Drakae House has seized the Anjarian capital and, presumably, the Amulet piece housed there,” Logan said.

 “Lo-” Patton started, but Logan continued talking, brushing off his brother’s attempt to interrupt him.

 “Now the Empire has control of all three pieces, it is imperative we determine their intentions. Failure to do so will no doubt have dire consequences.”

 “Of course I know that!” Patton’s voice wavered in a way Logan hadn’t heard since they were children. He hugged his spellbook close to his chest, as if it could shield him from the discussion. Then, quietly, he added, “Logan, this… this is all so much. I don’t- I don’t know if…”

 He trailed off. Logan frowned. “You do not have a choice,” he said. “The reality is, this is happening, and we must make hard decisions.”

Tiny Demon AU

Roman leaned more heavily into the palm of his hand, his eyes half open as he tried to listen to his woodshop teacher -known as “Slo-Mo Nate” among the less patient students such as himself- as he plodded through yet another lecture on triangles being the strongest shape in construction yadda yadda--Roman had heard it all a million and a half times before. 

He fought back a yawn, the pencil he’d had ready to take ‘real’ notes moving in lazy circles halfway up the page as he waited for Slo-Mo Nate to wind down. 

  Just because Roman preferred using other shapes in his construction projects didn’t mean he wasn’t aware how useful triangles were. He flicked his eyes to the ticking clock then back to the Teach. Would it be too much to raise his hand and interrupt to ask if he could go out to the shop already? Probably. 

ProcrastiNATion loved to bore his students to death for the first twenty minutes before finally letting them loose into his shop to work on their senior projects . 

Roman exhaled, scratching darker lines haphazardly through the interconnecting circles he’d doodled.  “Olvida la diversión trae la lógica.”  He muttered, glancing up as a couple of chairs in front of him shifted. Were they finally allowed to lea--

Nope. 

Nobody was getting up.

He resisted the urge to bang his head on the desk. Just a couple of his fellow peers as antsy to get out into the shop as he was apparently.  

Unfortunately the Bore-i-Nator was still jabbering on about his beloved triangles and--Roman looked back down to his doodle and jumped, nearly falling out of his chair while a tiny horned figure glowered up at him from the middle of the symbol he’d drawn. 

No. Way. Roman blinked, shaking his head. He’d dozed off. He was imagining it--nope. 

Tiny demon dude was still there. 

“Mira al idiota humano” The tiny voice growled up at him, crossing his arms. 

“Perdoname?!” Roman hissed. “I’m not an idiot!” 

“Ah. Ingles.” The figure said, a tiny spiked tail flicking in contempt. “Of course, I should have known.” 

“And what is that supposed to mean?” “Exactly what the words connotate. Do you not read! The size of the summoning circle is specified as no more and no less than six FEET in diameter and this--” He gestured to the circle “Flimsy excuse of an ecliptic is a paltry two inches!”
