Sorry, it was unfair of me to send that to you without proper context since you might not be aware of these issues. Irredeemable media refers to any thing with a creator or content that is harmful and/or bigoted. Of course every piece of media has problems, but irredeemable media is when those problems cannot be ignored and are an indicator of someone's beliefs.

For example, Harry Potter is irredeemable media because every one knows that JK Rowling is a transphobe, but some other piece of media like Twilight would not be considered irredeemable because even though Stephanie Meyer has done some bad things, they are not as widely talked about, so someone who posts about Twilight on here isn't completely likely to be a bigot, but a Harry Potter blogger would. Also, I know the "to be cringe is to be free" people like your blog, but a lot of the time, what is considered cringey on here is actually based on what is irredeemable. No progressive person or reputable blogger genuinely makes fun of My Little Pony fans any more, however plenty make fun of Hazbin Hotel fans and the such because that content is irredeemable and shows someone's beliefs. So usually, a piece of media being considered embarassing to like on here usually indicates that it is irredeemable.

As for why the other pieces of media are irredeemable, Hazbin Hotel is made by a woman who has many well-documented accusations of bigotry against her and has drawn zoophilia art, not to mention how her work leans into stereotypes about gay people (having a gay man character be a sex addict, a lesbian be named after the female body part Vagina, etc.) or at least that's what I've heard. Attack on Titan is created by a known fascist and many illusions are made to nazi imagery and nationalism in the anime. Captive Prince has a racist premise that sexualizes slavery and non-con.

People can tell you that liking irredeemable media doesn't say something about who they are, but that's fundamentally false. If someone is uncaring enough to still post openly about these types of media, it's clear they don't care enough about not supporting bigotry. Yes, even if they don't give money to the creators, because they are still willingly exposing themselves to bigoted or harmful content and enjoying it.

The previous ask was not meant to be accusatory. Rather it was meant as a concerned question. Believe it or not, there are still some users on here who indulge in these pieces of content, a few of which hide behind the excuse of being part of a minority (Black, trans, whatever) or simply deny how bad their media consumption is to escape accountability. I wouldn't want you associating with those types of people and have that ruin your reliability on this website.

Hopefully this ask has educated you more on these issues and you'll be able to spot irredeemable media in the future and block it out.

Netflix users have been left concerned by the omission of a huge movie from its list of 2024 releases.

On Thursday (1 February), the streaming service, which is both adding and removing a load of new titles this month, unveiled a preview of its movie slate – but the absence of one sequel that was expected to be released later this year is being highlighted by confused subscribers.

The film in question is The Old Guard 2, the sequel to action thriller The Old Guard, starring Charlize Theron.

Released in 2020, The Old Guard followed Theron’s immortal warrior who, along with three other mercenaries, has spent centuries protecting her freedom.

The film was directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, and co-starred Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli and Harry Melling in the villain role.

After becoming a big hit for Netflix, a sequel was greenlit, with Victoria Mahoney replacing Pryce-Bythewood as director. However, despite a release date of 2024 previously being announced by the streaming service, The Old Guard 2 has disappeared from the release slate.

Users are particularly concerned following news that a sci-fi drama starring Halle Berry has been shelved indefinitely despite filming being completed two years ago. The Mothership allegedly had its release “pulled” indefinitely following several delays that pushed the project back by years.

News of the film’s cancellation was first reported by The InSneider newsletter, where it was claimed the decision stemmed from the fact that the child actors had grown up too much for some “significant” reshoots to work.

The Old Guard 2 is not the only film to have disappeared from the 2024 release slate: The Electric State, a new thriller from Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and a thriller from The Raid director Gareth Evans, titled Havoc, are also nowhere to be seen.

Following the schedule’s release, many are expressing concern on social media.

“WHAT ABOUT THE OLD GUARD 2???” one social media user wrote, with another writing: “What the hell?”

An additional Netflix subscriber waded in: “Once again, where the f*** is Old Guard 2?

The Independent has contacted Netflix for comment.

The first red flag was the “dick pic”. Katie had no idea her 14-year-old son was communicating with strangers in secret on the Mermaids website, until she found several sexually explicit images on his phone.

Her autistic son, who had been teased at school for possibly being gay, had visited the school nurse, who in turn did what so many schools, local authorities and child mental health services across the country now do when presented with a gender-non-conforming child in distress: referred him to Mermaids.

The charity is the country’s best known transgender youth charity. It has basked in the support of celebrities such as Emma Watson and Prince Harry, and won generous grants from the National Lottery and the government.

Unbeknown to Katie, her son had joined the charity’s youth forum, a private online community for 12-19 year-olds who are struggling with gender issues. Parents and carers are not allowed. No proof of ID or age is required, only an email address.

Once signed up, he entered an online world where vulnerable children seeking support with others in similar pain, share their personal details, including phone numbers, email addresses and social media handles, under the apparently approving supervision of Mermaids moderators.

Screenshots seen by The Times also show users openly arranging to move their conversations about experimental drug treatments and medical transition on to even less supervised platforms, such as Discord, with the tacit approval of Mermaids moderators.

It was on Discord, an instant messaging social media platform that was started by gamers and now boasts about 350 million subscribers, that Katie’s son met the strangers who started sending sexual images and asking him to send them photos of himself in sexualised poses in his bedroom in return, which were then found by his mother.

“He felt they were his friends,” said Katie, a teacher. “It was after that I found all the Mermaids emails in his inbox, with the links to all these discussions [on the Mermaids youth forum.]”

The youth forum is promoted on Mermaids’ website as “a wonderful place to find community and allay fears”.

However, critics say it is an “irresponsible ‘Wild West’ free for all’ which allegedly fails the most basic online safety standards.

“Essentially, it is providing a space for children where it’s the blind leading the blind,” said Stephanie Davies-Arai, founder of campaign group Transgender Trend. “These children are not qualified to help other children with emotional and psychological issues. It’s hugely irresponsible.”

Mermaids promotes itself as a leading authority on LGBTQ issues, and is paid to train teachers, police forces, NHS staff and social services on dealing with transgender issues.

This week the Charity Commission confirmed it would be investigating Mermaids’ safeguarding practices, after receiving a number of complaints from parents.

One major red flag was its binder scheme. It emerged in an investigation by The Daily Telegraph earlier this week that the charity is sending potentially dangerous chest binders to children as young as 13 and 14, behind their parents’ backs. These are used by some women and young girls with gender dysphoria to flatten their breasts in a bid to appear more masculine but they carry serious health risks, potentially causing breathing difficulties and damage to healthy breast tissue, ribs and the spine.

Another cause for concern was the youth forum.

Confidential safe spaces can be vital lifelines for children to access support in the charity sector. Childline, for example, allows children to communicate anonymously with each other on message boards, subject to strict controls.

There is a time delay before a child’s post goes live, allowing moderators to screen the content. The house rules set clear parameters for discussion, forbidding any posts that talk, for example about self-harm as a coping method, or suggest that running away might be the right choice. Medical advice is forbidden — “even if something is safe for one person, it might not always be safe for other people” — and no posts are allowed about target-driven goals to change body shape as “it can make people feel competitive and encourage people to diet in unhealthy ways”. Children are not allowed to share any other ways to contact each other off the boards, and, crucially, the message boards are public.

Mermaids conducts its forum very differently.

On its website, Mermaids explains that “we sometimes suggest a young person uses an email address their primary carers have no access to” because some LGBTQ children live in “hostile environments” in which being outed may risk harm or even homelessness.

The charity insists it does not give medical advice. However, much of the discussion revolves around the idea of medical transition as a solution to various problems.

On the forum, which has around 700 members, children share their excitement at the prospect of starting hormone treatment. Introducing themselves, one child said: “I’m 15 and I’ve socially transitioned and I believe I’m getting my first blocker shot on Wednesday. (Fingers crossed!!!)

Mermaids continue to promote puberty blockers as a safe and reversible treatment, despite medical consensus that the long term impact on teenage development remains unknown.

In another post, under the subject heading “Forearm or thigh skin graphs [sic] Phalloplasty”, a young woman who identifies as male asks which part of the body is used to surgically create a penis.

“So I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between taking a skin graph [sic] from your forearm or thigh for phalloplasty? They had heard arm skin was preferred “but since I have permanent self harm scars I don’t think I’ll be able to.”

She is advised by another person in the group: “I really don’t think it will make a difference particularly because it will be 5 - 10 years before you get phallo. (I assume you want T [testosterone] and top surgery before),” adds the respondent, who then recommends some “really good videos on phallo” by a YouTuber.

When an unhappy youngster shares their mobile phone number, Snapchat and Instagram handles, it is left to another user — rather than a moderator — to warn them: “Are you sure it’s a good idea to post your phone number on here? There are over 700 people on this forum.”

In another post, under the topic “lonely”, one young girl posts her full email address and mobile phone number.

Once children sign up to the forum, they receive daily emails, highlighting the discussions taking place under headings such as “advice on unsupportive parents”.

Stephanie Davies-Arai, of the campaign group, Transgender Trend, said: “It’s a bit Lord Of The Flies, isn’t it? You’re letting children create their own little society, where they all support each other in a belief they probably learned online. They don’t have the maturity to recognise the harms of those internet forums.”

Parents expressed particular concern over the moderators’ alleged failure to intervene when users arranged to continue their relationships on other platforms.

In a post dated Jan 2020, a moderator using the name “Izzi J” interjected to advise the youngsters not to draw attention to the Mermaids connection, when they moved their conversation on to the unregulated chat rooms of Discord.

Izzi J wrote: “Great idea for you to have a Discord server together! I have to be a bit of a buzzkill here, you can’t call it Mermaids because it isn’t our server, run by us or affiliated with us. Give it a different name and you’re golden. Have fun :)”

In other posts, the same moderator talks about “the anti trans brigade”.

“Most people I know had no idea about trans issues until I came out and then the good people among them learned and changed how they viewed things. Some people are too lazy and bitter to change and that’s unfortunate.”

Having complained to the Charity Commission in 2020, Katie, not her real name, welcomed the watchdog’s decision to investigate further.

“I am cautiously optimistic that this time the Charity Commission will recognise unequivocally the harm being done to very vulnerable children,” she said.

Another parent, whose child was also referred to Mermaids, said: “Mermaids sees itself as the ‘hero’ or ‘rescuer’ of children, from ‘unaccepting’ parents. Anything that sidelines parents is a red flag.”

He said he was horrified to see the moderator’s response to Discord: “Discord is absolutely full of really grim self-harming and eating disorder servers [chat rooms], so just having vulnerable kids with body issues on discord is potentially a major risk.

“In contrast, Mermaids basically said, ‘what a great idea, off you go into this internet wild west, just you can’t use our name’. There was no concern for these young people’s welfare, they actually endorsed the idea of setting up a private server whose membership and rules would be completely hidden.”

The Times asked Mermaids to clarify the ages, training and background of the moderators who are responsible for supervising the forum, but the charity refused to respond.

In a statement, Mermaids said it was the victim of a “smear campaign.”

It said: “We’re in the midst of a targeted, cynical attack. Security of our platforms and safeguarding of young people is of the utmost importance to us and we continue to regularly review our processes and procedures to make sure our forums remain safe and secure. There are several layers of moderation checks before anyone can gain access to the forum, and anyone found to have fraudulently gained access to our platforms will be reported to the police immediately as a safeguarding concern.

“All of our moderators receive comprehensive training, including safeguarding training, and everyone using the forum has to comply with a strict code of conduct, which prohibits the sharing of personal information, including online identities.”

Mermaids emerged as a support group for young people receiving treatment at the NHS gender identity clinic based at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation. Trust, which has since been disbanded on the recommendation of an independent review.

Whistleblowers said they were alarmed by the charity’s alleged influence over the clinic’s leadership team, with some clinicians concerned that Mermaids was schooling young people on what to say in the consultation room, in order to access hormone therapies quicker.

Mermaids insists it does not encourage one particular treatment over another.

Yesterday we briefly talked about how Meghan was known to be charming towards men. Here's a video I recently watched on YouTube. It's by HG Tudor, and he describes the first time he met meghan, in 2016, and what he thought of her at the time.

This first meetingwas in 2016 pre-harry. She was still looking for British men to date and in this video HG describes how he met her at a famous bar frequented by posh celeb and artsy types. She was with another lady journalist friend of hers who was a mutual aquaintance with Hg. And Meghan was quite keen on being set up with him. But her fake persona put him off.

HG is a self confessed narcissistic, who has never revealed his real identity to the public. So make of this video what you wish, but whats interesting to me is-

- the fake, over confident way she puts on her femme fatale persona.

- the vocal fry, which I'm assuming is her version of a low, deep, sexy but uncaring voice.

- how fixated she seemed with her suits character and her monologues about Rachel Zane's fashion.

- her utter desperation at being introduced to HG and if he wasn't interested, then to get an intro to 3/4 friends of his.

- the strange hold she has on their mutual friend Suzanna, who is acting as her match maker.

- the way she gets touchy feely with someone she is trying to seduce.

- how she fake laughs, and uses exaggerated hand gestures to attract attention of this random man (HG) from across the room once she decided that she wanted to get to know him/his circle.

I'm now guessing that she was like this towards most men she met with, if she decided she wanted to impress them. William, Charles, Harry obviously, Jason knauf, prince Phillip maybe. And this demeaner is very obvious to someone like William (or Charles and Phillip) who has been trained his whole life to spot a grifter. Or rather, someone who has been warned his whole life to stay away from spongers and users.

That's why William, even Catherine and the queen could see through her. Harry, who had his own agendas, didn't care.

If listened

There were times she was making eyes at William. In public. It was obvious that she wanted his attention. Even more obvious she hated Catherine because of William.

Will you please provide funeral analysis / of the dynamics at the funeral? Do you think Harry and Meg thought they would reconcile once funeral occurred?

I'll try but I still get emotional about the funeral. I thought the vigils were particularly poignant...sniff...and the pony and the corgi standing guard...sobs...

The funeral was just a photo op for them. They knew there would be no reconciliation, and they were just getting film for Season 2 of their series. Will gave them a photo op to keep them quiet until the funeral was over, but it was a temporary measure.

Harry has already been symbolically replaces as a military symbol by the equerries. I wasn't surprised that they went with that, but I am surprised at how effective it was. I thought Harry would always be valuable to the royals because of his association with the military, but that is no longer the case. The equerries with be the military stand-ins until one of the Wales kids joins the military.

໑ one chance (kiss him you fool) by localopa / @voulezloux (M, 5.5k, friends to lovers, 5+1 things, pining) this so fun and entertaining, and heartbreaking too with each time Louis’ intentions failed. i loved how the author portrayed Louis’ feelings.

໑ Hate is a Strong Word by kikikryslee / @flamboyantommo (T, 8.7k, coworkers, hate to love, office au) this was so entertaining and funny! i feel like what made it better was to have both POVs. if you enjoy the coworkers trope, you’ll truly enjoy this one!

໑ I Still Crave It by @germericangirl (E, 16k, strangers to lovers, a/b/o au, chemist harry, scenting) this was so fun! i loved Louis’ obliviousness of his own feelings and the ending was very sweet.

໑ i’m still standing (after all this time) by localopa / @voulezloux (M, 22.5k, strangers to lovers, music industry au, pop punk louis, pop harry, read tags and author’s note) this was so painful to get through but i knew it would eventually get better. just bare in mind the tags please. over all, there were so great nizouis moments and the chemistry between Harry and Louis was through the roof.

໑ Somebody's Got Your Trainers On (It's You) by bluegreenish / @greenblueish (E, 28k, exes to lovers (kind of), hospital au, nurse louis, doctor harry, read tags and author’s note) i absolutely loved this rendition of “Saturdays”, it hurt just in the right ways and the conclusion of the story was better than i could’ve imagined.

໑ The Prince Of Light by @jacaranda-bloom (E, 35.7k, strangers to lovers, fantasy au, garden fairies, world building, mentions of war, read tags) i don’t know how to express what i feel about this fic because it’s so precious! it made me feel warm all over, and it made me feel like living in a magic world. if you like fantasy, you’ll love this one.

໑ Where I End and You Begin by @starryhazelou (E, 42.7k, strangers to lovers, famous/non-famous, rock star harry, mua louis, please read tags and author’s notes) absolutely fantastic from start to finish. the characterisations and the details on the timeline and outfits were perfect. the tension between Louis and Harry was driving me crazy, and then the angst… it was the kind that gives you a weird feeling in your stomach, it doesn’t hurt (at least to me) a lot but it’s there.

໑ Darkest Before the Dawn by amomentoflove / @daggerandrose (E, 50.5k, enemies to lovers, university au, fashion designer harry, fashion designer louis, grief, read tags and author’s note) this was quite the journey. the tension between the main characters felt so real but i think what i liked the most about this story is the talk about grief. it’s a very sincere and realistic piece of work so you should definitely check it out.

໑ And What If I Were You by @jacaranda-bloom (E, 110k, exes to lovers, famous/non-famous au, actor harry, artist louis, blind louis) if there’s one thing you can expect from this author is to end up with a little piece of her heart with each work, and this is no exception. the story was so well structured and you can see the world through Louis’ eyes even if it sounds crazy, but the best part is that you can also see it on Harry’s and you, as well as him, will realise how normal is not for everyone. the art for the fic is spectacular!

໑ Say It Somehow by frenchkiss / @lesbidirection (E, 129k, strangers to lovers, theatre au, actor louis, technician harry, musical references) i’m in love with this author’s writing. this fic felt like watching a show, it had everything and was very entertaining. the characters were so good to each other, but in a very human non-perfect way. and at the same time, the story explores what it’s like to work in theatre from someone with experience so if you like theatre AND you like love stories, you’ll love this one!

໑ the devil's backbone by edensrose / @holdingthornsandroses (louis/pedro pascal, M, 9.7k, enemies to friends to lovers, historical au (1925), violence) this was so good. this author is great with historical fics, and this was no exception! the story was so well detailed and it was written with great detail without overdoing it. there’s period typical violence and mentions of past relationships and abuse.

໑ 🔒 I Couldn't Write You Off If I Tried by @homosociallyyours (girl direction marcel/louis, M, 11.4k, strangers to lovers, accountant marcel, stripper louis, taxes) the only thing i can say for myself is that this is the first time i cry because of taxes. this was sweet, soft, and sexy.
