The Little King Dreams

Regulus Arcturus Black. Younger brother of Sirius, Slytherin, Death Eater, and the man who stole the Locket of Salazar Slytherin from Lord Voldemort himself. We all know his story. He died stealing the locket, saving Kreacher’s life, and his brother never knew that Regulus died fighting the Dark Lord. 

But is Regulus really dead? 

In the cave, where Voldemort hid the locket, we know there are protections. In additions to Inferi (corpses reanimated through Dark magic), the fountain in which the locket is stored is filled with water cursed to cause excruciating pain. But it’s curious. The water doesn’t kill. 

The water causes unbearable thirst. It causes excruciating pain. But it doesn’t kill. Why on earth would Voldemort have a protection that does not kill, when he’s trying to protect something like a fragment of his soul? 

"Lord Voldemort would not want to kill the person who reached this island."​

​Harry couldn't believe it. Was this more of Dumbledore's insane determination to see good in everyone?​

​"Sir," said Harry, trying to keep his voice reasonable, "sir, this is Voldemort we're —"​

​"I'm sorry, Harry; I should have said, he would not want to immediately kill the person who reached this island," Dumbledore corrected himself. "He would want to keep them alive long enough to find out how they managed to penetrate so far through his defenses and, most importantly of all, why they were so intent upon emptying the basin. So why does Voldemort have water, a potion, that does not kill? And if, like what Dumbledore suggest, he would want to keep the person alive long enough to find out why they were trying to steal his Horcrux... how would he do it? Why would he make a potion which causes unbearable thirst — when the only source of water is Inferi-infested waters? 

Simple. It was mentioned in Philosopher’s Stone. 

The Draught of Living Death. A potion that causes very powerful sleep which, according to the Advanced Potion-Making textbook in HBP, “can last forever”. 

“But Josh!” you might be saying, “What about the Inferi!” 

Yes. There are Inferi. But they are not there to kill the person. No. They are there to drag the person underwater. The person who drank a variant of the Draught of Living Death, and pull them into enchanted waters to bring about a state of suspended animation. At least, of course, until Lord Voldemort can interrogate the person. To find out how they penetrated so far past his defenses. Why they were so intent on draining the fountain. The Inferi aren’t there to kill the intruder. 

The Inferi are there to hold the intruder until Lord Voldemort arrives. And since Voldemort did not realize that his Horcrux had been stolen — since the fake locket was still there in the fountain nearly 20 years after, the Inferi are still holding the intruder. 

And they are still holding him... 

But Harry had his answer before Dumbledore could reply; the wandlight had slid over a fresh patch of water and showed him, this time, a dead man lying faceup inches beneath the surface, his open eyes misted as though with cobwebs, his hair and his robes swirling around him like smoke.

Faceups 10-25-2020

One day my titles will have a solid convention that does not change.

Anyways, this last week, I made a LOT of progress on my faceups!

December is REALLY coming together I am honestly so thrilled for them because they have plenty of clothes to choose from and I think I am going to have a HUGE blast showing them off and doing photoshoots.

Keilani is getting there too but I’m not 100% happy with it yet. I think I strayed from what I originally wanted so if I end up feeling unsatisfied with another pass, I might wipe her and start again.

Paige is making me pretty happy though! I’m pretty excited to get her closer and closer to completion.

Constellation got some more blush - I blushed her forehead to simmer down the very sharp contours she had before, blushed her nose and touched up her lips. I’m gonna try and do another pass on her lips to solidify the color and even it out but then I think she will be done!

I started blushing Prim, just a light layer!

I TRIED blushing Yvaine but despite how toothy she felt, she couldn’t keep anything on her for shit. We will spray and try again lol.

Anyways, I am absolutely adoring these babies and I cannot wait for them to be done. And I’m so happy because this was the first time I worked on faceups without totally overthinking and fretting the process! Growth!

No.9 is Tilo! He’s a Mini Dollfie Dream with a modded DDH01 head which was made/sold by yiu51919 on yahoo auction. I kinda impulse bought it at the time in February 2017 and then didn’t know what to do with it for about a year due to focussing on other dolls, so the head stayed boxed up for a while. I nearly sold it but in February 2018 I got a body for the head and decided to try to choose eyes and a wig that complimented the faceup (as I originally was going to make a child version of Mel, and then Kaito, neither of which worked out well because the soft brown faceup lines didn’t work with either of those wig colours). After I put a blond wig on him the concept of a little prince jumped out and Tilo was born. He got a new wig a year or so ago and has achieved his final adorable form.

I love him and have also taken him to many places, like Rome and Athens in the first two pics.

I went to collage and majored in art while living at home with my parents who were Both Transphobic and Homophobic but also Abuse I’ve endured since a young age, physical, mental ive developed a great deal of mental health problems That even now I am being diagnosed and treated for. With an alcoholic parent and upon my mental health problems and living in a terrible environment that was life long I left home and left school and started my own life with my fiancé One day my fiancé was online and seen Big dolls that looked realistic and those dolls I was so fascinated by. Do you sell your dolls? No I do not they’re my babies and I put a lot of work into their characters and I am emotionally attached to each of them. I have sold some that I didn’t bond well with.

What do you use to paint on them? I use acrylic paint, soft pastels, water color pencils, graphite, acrylic gloss and sealer. Doll eyelashes, little craft hoops and balls for piercings and craft tiny beads for jewlary. I use yarn sometimes for their hair but other times I purchase their hair online. Sometimes I draw them tattoos and sometimes I use Temp tattoos.

Do you do commissions? I do commissions for people who need work done to their own BJDs like faceups, hair or blush and nail art. I don’t buy dolls to work on to sell but in the future I’d like to do that. It’s an expensive hobby so get your pockets ready. My faceups are 60$ but for something really advanced it will be 80$ plus shipping charges. Nail art is 5$, blush is 10$ wigs are 25$ I’ve had people ask if they could buy the doll send them to my address instead of their home, I work on them and then send them to that person but you have to remember there is money involved and I mean lots of it so if you’re buying a 300$ doll via through me to a website you have to be willing to also pay me for putting this doll together which we can talk about via email the price. What are the dolls made out of ?

Resin. I know there are vinyl bJDs out there but mine are just made out of resin~ 🍭🤍

So if you don’t sell your dolls, where do I get one ?? On BJD websites but be aware of scams or Recasts also which are usually cheaper and too good to be true prices. I’ve had my fair share in mistakes with this in the beginning after my first Doll. Do lots of research on YouTube to learn more. Recasts are heavily looked down upon in the hobby and people tend to stay away from and not talk about them because they are a problem to the hobby and create damage by taking an artists work and selling them for much cheaper. You will not get head plates or certificate or authenticity cards or an original Box. They tend to be much smaller then an originalwitj seam lines and sometimes they’re easy to spot so just save your coins and go legit, Support the artists. I do not bully people but others will. Some official Bjd cheap websites are thejunkyspot, Angel of dream, mystic kids, migidoll, Alicecollections, bobobie, withdoll, littleRebel, littlemonica, supiadoll and crobidolls and so many more just do some research y’all find them. If you have that type of money or want to save then check, Hummingdolly, dollshe, Soom, Doll chateau, dream valley, Iplehouse, Dikadoll, iOS (immortality of soul) distantmemory (the BTS dolls are from here I know a lot of you like BTS I am a Kpopper myself lol) and there’s just so so much more just type Bjd websites and y’all find a ton~ I just kinda remembered these at the top of my head. Lol 🐮💕

So where do you get clothes and accessories from?! Some are from EBay, Etsy, Amazon. Some are form people on IG who sell first come first served or little shops that don’t have a big name or anything that I just run into who happen to be selling what I want or need for a doll. I don’t make my own eyes but others do I get mine either commissioned or on the websites I just stated. Some stuff are handmade like wigs and clothing I do sometimes make those. You just have to know the size of your doll and their eye measurements and head measurements. 💗🐮

💜🍼Prince and his paci? The girl who sold them I bought two and she stopped selling them I’m currently looking myself for some Bigger doll pacis.

💕How big are your dolls? They’re as big as a toddler but much thinner. Some 3 feet and some a bit smaller but they’re large dolls sometimes people don’t realize that 🐮🤍 you can by a variety of diff sizes like MSD (1/4 30cm ranges) SD (1/3 60-75 cm range) SD uncle 80+ and Yosd (smaller 20cm or smaller range) I might be a little off but it’s because I only purchase the bigger ones I don’t have much interest in smaller currently.

Collector vs customizer. How a collector might approach this hobby, someone with a bigger budget who doesn’t paint or sew for dolls: My character is a Prince who is under a shapeshifting curse.

Soom Dragon Lord Jerome is a good choice. Base doll with dragon legs: 735 Faceup: 60 Body blushing: 110 Add Wing and horn + blushing: 260 Eyes: 60 (yes, the Soom default eyes for this doll are $60) Default Jerome Outfit: 150 Suri wig: 120

Human form Human body with blushing: 532 Human eyes, Mystic Regular Series: 60  (assuming I don’t want custom eyes) Default Jerome wig: 27 (assuming I like it and don’t replace it with something custom) SartoriaJ suit: SD_Prince Louis Set 198 Shoes: SD_Caliente Calf Riding Boots 59 Grand Total: $2,371 (before any shipping fees)

Now you can argue that I could economize, buy something cheaper with this or that item but that’s not my way to do dolls, I like what I like and I want what I want. I might do a 4 month layaway with Soom and a 60 day layaway with SartoriaJ, but everything else needs to be paid when ordered. I can pay for this doll from my entertainment budget, and it’s also not an unreasonable amount to ask for him as my birthday present. Do I think putting together this doll is wicked expensive? Not really. He’s not cheap, by any means but several of my friends own more expensive or exclusive dolls. One has an Enchanted Doll porcelain doll. That’s what I’d consider an expensive doll. I’m pretty sure there are at least a few people on DOA who have more expensive collector dolls as well as their bjd, they are just quiet about it. This is why I think the bjd hobby is such a mixed bag of apples and oranges.

“Bastien, can you please come to my office?” Queen Savi Rhys of Cordonia inquires over the phone with the Cordonian Head of Palace Security, Bastien Lykel.

“Yes, Your Majesty. I will be down to your office momentarily.”

Hanging up the phone while she awaits Bastien's arrival, Savi resumes picking at the small locked box on her desk she found hidden deep within her right bottom desk drawer.

“Your Majesty, you rang?” Bastien's tall silhouette bellows from the open doorway.

“Yes. Please do come in. I have something to show you that I may need your assistance with.”

Bastien steps into the office, joining Savi as she continues to pick at the box. “Bastien, as I was reorganizing my files today, I stumbled across this box deep within my desk drawer. I have tried to open it, but it seems that I do not have the proper key to do so. Have you seen this box before? Do you happen to have the key to it?”

Bastien's eyes grow wide as the realization of when and with whom he last saw the box on Savi's desk. “Your Majesty, I do recognize that box...it belonged to Liam's mother, Queen Nari.”

Anxious anticipation radiates through Savi which amplifies her desire to unlock the box. “Bastien, we HAVE to get into this box!” The key has got to be in my office, Savi thought to herself. Maybe, it is somewhere in an obvious location. Savi starts to feel under the desk drawer that contained the mysterious box.

“BINGO!” Dropping her royal facade, Savi shouts after locating a small key taped to the underside of the drawer. Now, let's hope it opens this box! Savi inherited the desk in her office most recently from Regina, and then Liam's late mother. I wonder how Regina never stumbled upon this box? Shrugging her shoulders, Savi discards the tape from the key into the trash bin under her desk and clicks the key into the lock, hearing a soft release to confirm that she indeed had the right key. Opening the box, Savi locates a sole unaddressed envelope that was stamped shut with the Cordonian Queen’s crest.

Opening the envelope, Savi reached in and pulled out the following letter from Queen Nari addressed to...her.

To the Woman My Son Loves:

These are dangerous times Cordonia finds herself in. If you are reading this letter it means I have passed away and am not able to have this conversation with you, my daughter-in-law in person or see my precious Liam grow up to be the benevolent prince he is destined to become. I don't know who you are or how Liam found you, but I know that if Liam has chosen you as a wife that you mean the world to him. Regardless of his royal lineage, one of my hopes for Liam is for him to find a partner and share in the same intense love that I have found with Liam’s father, Constantine. I hope Liam and Constantine use my memory to uplift their spirits as I know I have passed away with unending joy in my heart because of them and Leo.

I was not there for Liam (or you) on your wedding day, but that does not stop me from extending to you an additional something both borrowed and new. Since I was pregnant with Liam he has always loved baklava. During the first trimester of my pregnancy, I denied myself sweets. Liam was my first pregnancy and I wanted to make sure that I remained healthy for his sake (I call that part of my pregnancy the “first-time mom worries”). And rightfully so! Not only was I a queen, but I was also carrying an heir to the throne! When I was about four months into my pregnancy with Liam, I finally reintroduced sweets and had baklava for the first time during my pregnancy. Baklava was one of the food items Liam would allow me to keep down and I also distinctly remember Liam kicking me each time I ate it. I took this as a sign that Liam both loved baklava and that he would demonstrate strength in ways I could not foresee. I write to you to share with you my baklava recipe that was passed down from Liam’s grandmother (Constantine’s mother) and altered to better fit my tastes.

May this recipe help us to bond in our own way, my daughter. May you love each other fiercely and bring each other happiness. Above all else, may you be a shining example of Cordonian royalty.

Tears in her eyes, Savi’s hands shake as she attempts to carefully place the letter down on her desk with her left hand while reaching into the envelope for the recipe with her right hand.

“Your majesty, are you alright?” Bastien inquires, stress lines creased into his forehead.

“I am perfect, Bastien,” Savi extends him a gentle smile before continuing. “So much so that I have the perfect surprise when Liam returns from Italy.” Turning over her wrist, Savi peers at her watch and realizes she has just enough time before Liam returns.

Moving as fast as she could for a woman in her condition, Savi runs out of her office and into the royal palace suite.

“Savi, Love, I'm home!” Liam calls out from the door having returned from Italy for a renegotiation of Italian/Cordonian tax incentives. Before he takes another step, a familiar scent hits his nose, leaving waves of nostalgia and a sudden yearning for his mother.

“Liam, honey, I'm in the kitchen. Set your bags down and come and join me.”

Liam walks to the kitchen in anticipation of what he may see given the smells that assaulted his nose when he entered their home. Upon seeing Savi, the anticipation melted away and was replaced with love and longing. Liam missed his chocolate drop while he was away.

“Please have a seat, my king, and close your eyes. I have something special for you.”

Liam sits at the table with his eyes closed and Savi kisses Liam on the cheek before walking to the stove to pull out the baklava she was keeping warm in the oven.

“Are your eyes still closed?” Savi questions Liam with her back turned to him.

“Yes they are my queen, but I smell something familiar, and it smells delicious!”

“How do you know it's not me?” Savi smirks awaiting Liam’s response.

Liam lets out a laugh that emanates from the depths of his stomach as Savi cuts and plates several pieces of baklava, returning to the table to sit next to Liam. Savi quietly places Nari’s letter faceup in his direction and the plate of baklava between the two of them.

“Liam, open your mouth and take a bite.” Liam obeys Savi’s command. Upon biting into his surprise, Liam opens his eyes as a wave of emotions washes over him.

“How did you?! This tastes just like my mother's!”

Liam stumbles over his words as tears begin to well in his eyes. He looks down and sees the letter from his mother Savi has placed in front of him. Seeing Liam taking in his mother’s final words, Savi watches his tears, now free falling, as she grabs his hand and intertwines her fingers with his.

Having finished the letter, Liam looks up into Savi’s red eyes that match his own.

“I stumbled upon that letter today, shortly before you were due home while I was working in my office. The way that you speak about your mother and your mannerisms I have observed over the years helped me to understand how much of your personality you adopted from her even though she died when you were very young. As she mentioned in the letter she wanted me making the baklava to be a bonding experience between me and her, but what I don't think she prepared for was for it to also become a bonding experience between me and you. You are the love of my life, Liam, and I would do anything to see you happy. I hope me making this baklava is one of many ways that I will continue to show you the fierce love I have for you and the happiness that both your mother and I would like for us to maintain in our marriage.”

“Savi, you have already given me more than I could have ever dreamed to have. You know what we have been through and who knows what still awaits us. Thank you for doing this for me and for sharing this moment with both me and my mother.”

Doll things

So I ordered some stuff from Dollce on Weds (10 April) and received a shipping notice today (12 April). That was quick!

I’d been seeing the name Dollce mentioned quite frequently recently and then discovered that they have recently opened an official international site. Seems like previously, you could only buy Dollce dolls either from their physical stores in Japan or from their Japanese site? Anyway, I then saw this cutie below - ‘Dollce Mini Sweets Snow Leek’. There are 4 different types of fullsets for him right now and this particular set caught my eye. He’s a tiny thing, around 11 cm tall, and so princely~! He’s a tiny little palmtop prince~! (≧ω≦)

I wasn’t going to get him at first. But I did look up more about Dollce and discovered that the prices on the Dollce site for a new fullset doll are actually quite a bit CHEAPER then for second-hand ones on places like Suruga-ya and Mandrake! Plus, I didn’t see any second-hand Dollce boys. Is little Snow Leek a new sculpt?

Then when I looked back on Dollce’s site, I discovered that there were only 3 sets of this particular blue-green haired Snow Leek left, and I might have panicked a bit and put him in my cart! ^^;;

Since I was making an order, I decided to have a quick look at the other dolls on offer to make sure there wasn't another set I wanted more instead... Only the little ones come with bodies, they only sell heads for the big ones. I was rather drawn to one of the 1/3 heads - 'Dollce Alkanet' (below), though I’ll probably turn it into a cute boy??

However, I thought it would be a blank head, so I was going to pass over it as I didn't want to add to my list of doll heads that need faceups... Then I actually read the description and it said it comes with a faceup and even eyes, so I added it to my cart... orz Haven't decided what sort of body to put him on. Thinking of maybe an Obitsu 55cm boy body maybe??

And there are actually two more doll things I'm tempted to get... _(:3」∠ )_

First is 'Puppy Egg/Goudan Jr.' from Shoushou Doll below. I really like his smile and I think I might get him from Dolk as they are having a limited time sale on him right now...

He's called 'Puppy Egg' on Dolk which though odd is rather cute, isn't it? However, he seems to be called 'Goudan Jr.' everywhere else? There's a 1/3 of him but I like this 1/4 version much more. I looked up what his original name is since he's from a Chinese company and found that it is '小狗蛋' which is literally 'little dog egg'. However, '蛋蛋' is also slang/a cutesy way of referring to a dog or cat's... 'balls'.... so, his name actually means... XD;;

And I'm pretty sure that's what they were going for as they also have sculpts with names that mean 'cutie dog' and 'naughty dog uncle'...

The second thing is that Dollzone will be discontinuing this lovely single mechanical wing body by the end of April! It's something I've been eyeing since forever! It's always reminded me of CLAMP's Clover, especially this illustration of C/Lan and his twin!

3/11/2021 Midnight Faceup Playing

Okay so I have insomnia and decided to check on these three neglected kids and their faceups.

So I like the coloring I have so far for Prim’s blushing but somewhere in the last year, you can see her lip chipped so I’m not sure if that means I should start over or if I can just spray MSC and go over it again. We will see!

I tested out some colors on Yvaine and the tooth seems good enough to have kept this time! I don’t know how I feel about this because this wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but also kind of exactly what I had in mind just not executed perfectly! So I’m open to wiping her and trying again but I might keep it for a little while and keep trying.

Keilani I have decided to wipe because Im pretty unhappy with how she is coming out! So this will be the last picture of her like this and I will restart her faceup soon!
