Summary: Where Caspian reads letters from her.
Tumblr media
Caspian woke up feeling warm sun rays on his skin and hearing the birds singing. It took him a few moments to realise that he was no longer on the sea, he was home, and his betrothed was just a few rooms down the hall. A smile came onto his face, and a warm feeling blossomed in his chest at the thought that he would see you today without the need to dream about it anymore. He sat up, stretching his muscles, when his eyes fell on the pile of paper on his nightstand. He reached for it, noticing a ribbon wrapped around it and his name written by you on top of it. He touched it carefully and leaned against the headboard. He took the first one and unfolded it, holding it like the most sacred thing in the whole world. His smile grew wider when he noticed the date on the bottom of the sheet - the day his journey started. He read attentively every word you wrote, and everyone went directly to his heart. He loved how you described your days and even wrote about small gossip around the court. He was grateful for the possibility of catching up with everything that way. He was sure that you made some situations more light and fun than they would be. What shocked him the most was how easily he could notice your emotions through those letters. Even if you didn’t name it, he could say that in better days, you wrote more jokingly, with more anecdotes and jumping between different topics. On bad days they were more thoughtful and shorter. On these days, you clearly express your worries and how you miss him. It made him want to run to you and hug you tightly, but the knowledge that Trumpkin, Doctor Cornelius and Glenstorm were there for you and took care of you.
In one of the latest letters, written just after the wedding of one of your friends, he found a part that made him blush, and he needed to read it twice to believe that it was there.
My love, I can’t stop thinking about you and our wedding. I want it to be perfect for us - for this celebration to be cherished by us similarly. But what kept me awake tonight was the thought about everything after it. About how it will be to wake up next to you, to be able to keep you close at night. How our life will look in the cosiness of our bedroom because I must say I really hope that we will choose to have a shared bedchamber. I dreamed about your lips on mine, your hands on my body, being able to learn your body and being the reason you will achieve pleasure…
Caspian made himself read the last letter before he rushed to get dressed. He still felt heat on his cheeks. His mind wholly was consummated by you. He couldn’t stop thinking about everything waiting for both of you after you’d exchanged your vows. He looked through the window and smiled, seeing you walking through the yard. He quickly walked out of his room and started searching for you. Luck was on his side when he spotted you in the corridor he just ran in. He screamed your name at what you smiled, and he started running to you. In mere seconds Caspian took you in his arms and immediately kissed you. You gasped in surprise but quickly relaxed in his arms. Your hand slowly reached his nape, and you melted against him. After a moment, they departed breathless, and Caspian rested his forehead against yours. He watched your flashed face and smiled, seeing your closed eyes.
“Caspian..” She whispered. “Not that I am complaining, but what was that for?” You looked up at him, resting your palm on his chest.
“I just love you.” He peaked her lips and smiled. “I think that lilies will be perfect for our wedding. The book you were reading indeed is so boring - I tried to read it last year, but it didn’t work out. I will take you to the Lone Islands and wherever you will want to go, and I will gladly show you the most beautiful places there, even if none of it can compare to your beauty. And I also want us to have one bedchamber because I think that when I finally will have a taste of you - I won’t be able to stay away even for a few hours.”
“You read my letters.” You moved your hand to gently cup his cheek. Caspian kissed your wrist, squeezing your waist gently.
“Each of them.” She smiled and brought him into another kiss. Caspian pulled you closer to him, making her laugh into his lips. This one kiss wasn’t a heated make-out - it was a clumsy kiss intermittently by giggles and declarations of love. And then, when the Duchess came into the corridor and cleared her throat, both blushed, trying to stop their giggles. She only shook her head with a smile, mumbling about young love, happy for people that she treated like her own children.

Chapter I
The floor was hard and rocky beneath your fingers, as was the wall behind your head, you couldn’t dig your way out of this cell, that was clear enough. Boots crunched against the ground and you lifted your head, smirking when the tall man peered through the bars.
“Where’s your master, General? Was he too afraid to come and see me alone?” you snickered.
“Where are the jewels?”
You scoffed, “the lady Susan’s jewels? Why would I have them?”
“You were seen in the company of the men who did steal from the carriage down in port. They had the gold and silver but no jewels, and they let you get caught.”
Those men were idiots, your father would have skinned them alive if they weren’t bound to be executed by the Prince. They had failed to protect you.
“Hmm, what a conundrum.”
“Release her,” a different voice, a softer voice came from the shadows, the pale moonlight illuminating his handsome face.
“But, Your Highness,” the General started but he didn’t get a chance to finish as the Prince cut him off.
“We have searched her belongings and her person, we have not located the jewels or any other contraband. It is not a crime to choose poor drinking companions.”
The General muttered something as he walked off and you glanced over at the Prince, “I’ve been here for five days.”
The Prince smirked as his dark eyes beheld you from the other side of the bars, “have you? My apologies, I had no idea,” you scowled at him.
The Jolly Roger was still docked in the port and you smiled as you ran into the Captain’s open arms, “I was so worried about you, Y/N.”
“I’m fine, dad,” you smiled and he pulled out of the hug, holding you at arm’s length.
“How did you get away?”
With a smile, you pulled a dagger out of the wood of the ship and used it to cut a hole in the lining of your tunic, “either the Prince and his men are idiots, or you taught me very well,” you laughed as you pulled out the jewels you had stolen from Susan’s carriage.
-----
The bell to your jewellery shop opened, causing you to lose grip of the crystal that you were trying to set into the ring, “fuck!” you jumped and your friend laughed at you.
“Sorry, Y/N.”
You smiled and looked at the clock as you grabbed your jacket, “no, I’m sorry. I lost track of time, lunch at Granny’s?”
Regina nodded and the both of you left the shop, switching the sign to closed, “how’s Henry?” you asked.
Regina sighed, “he still thinks I’m the Evil Queen.”
“From Snow White?” Regina’s son, Henry held a strong belief that everyone in town was a fairytale character from his book, his relief was so strong that he had brought his birth mother to Storybrooke, all the way from Boston.
Regina nodded at your question causing you to laugh and quirk an eyebrow as you looked at your friend’s clothes, “well, you do have the look.”
Regina rolled her eyes, “don’t be ridiculous, Y/N.”
You laughed as you opened the door to Granny’s, your smile fell almost instantly as you quite literally ran into the man you wanted to see the least.
“Woah, I’m so sorry,” he laughed as his hands came up to steady you, as soon as he realised it was you, his smile dropped and he scowled at you, but his hands didn’t leave your waist.
You recoiled and Caspian rolled his eyes, “your hands are filthy.”
Caspian scowled, “I’m a mechanic, darlin’ kind of comes with the job.”
“Whatever,” you stormed right past him and into the diner.
Regina followed you as you sat down at your usual table, “that was the most ridiculous argument ever.”
You scoffed, “I hate him, I hate him so much and I don’t know why but there’s just something about him that irks me. I can’t put my finger on it.”
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” Regina spoke up and you glanced at her in surprise to find that she wasn’t looking at you. She was looking past you with a faraway look on her face as if her mind was elsewhere.
“What for?” you asked.
She didn’t say anything, she just smiled wanly and placed your usual order when Ruby came around to take the order.
“I keep on having the strangest dreams.”
Regina raised an eyebrow as she looked at you warily, “what about?”
You twisted your ring round on your finger as you recalled the dream from last night, “there was a pirate ship and a Prince. There was a jail cell in the depths of a great castle, it felt very much like a fever dream,” you laughed.
“Dr Hopper may have something for dreamless sleeps.”
You shook your head; the dreams may have been weird but they were not unwelcome. Lunch was nice, Regina seemed truly happy and you didn’t speak of your dreams or Henry again.
On your way out of Granny’s you grabbed two bear claws, one for you and one for your mom, that was your tradition, every Monday you would have lunch with Regina and then you would go for coffee and a catch up with your mom. You dropped Regina off at her office before driving to your mother’s cottage on the edge of town. As soon as you pulled up to the cottage you could sense that something was different but you didn’t know what until you rang the doorbell.
“Y/N,” your mother smiled with a questioning look on her face, “what are you doing here?”
You laughed as you held up the brown paper bags, “bear claws?”
She nodded with a smile, “sorry dear, it’s been a long day. Come in.”
You smiled as you stepped over the threshold and hugged your mom, kissing her cheek before you walked through to the kitchen, your blood running cold. Twice in one day? Someone really had it out for you. There he was, looking cleaner than he had from when you last saw him a couple of hours ago. He looked up from his phone and he dropped it on the kitchen counter, the clatter making you jump.
You scowled at him as you saw the remains of a bear claw on your mother’s floral plates and a coffee cup, “what’s he doing here?” you complained to your mom as she rolled her eyes and followed you into the kitchen.
“Y/N, don’t be rude, Caspian was kindly dropping off my car after he fixed it for me.”
Caspian shot a dazzling smile at your mother that you just wanted to slap off his face as he stood from the kitchen stool, “it really was no trouble, ma’am, after all I couldn’t have you traipsing all the way into town from here.”
Your mother grinned and handed him a tupperware container which made you glare at Caspian, “you’re a lifesaver, and you won’t have to eat greasy diner food tomorrow.”
“Thank you, ma’am, I’ll see you soon,” he glanced over at you with daggers in your dark eyes, “Y/N.”
You didn’t say anything but if looks could kill he would be six feet underground, your mom walked him out and when she came back into the kitchen she had a disappointed look on her face.
“Why can’t you just be nice to him, Y/N? He’s a lovely young man.”
“Oh come on mom, he’s rude and arrogant.”
Your mom sighed as she flicked the kettle on, “oh, Y/N, you really need to grow up.”
As you were getting ready to close the shop, the little bell tinkled and you looked up with a surprised smile when Henry walked through the door. Regina worked late every Monday so Henry always came by the shop to start on his homework until Regina picked him up. You would have thought that he would have been spending time with Emma.
“Good to see you Henry,” you smiled as the boy placed his backpack on one of the tables in the shop and began to get his things out.
“Hi, Y/N,” he smiled brightly as only a child could smile as he got out a heavy leather bound book and you knew that that must be it.
“So, that’s the famous book, huh? Kind of offended that I’m not in it,” you laughed as you tidied some things away, “want a sandwich and some juice? It’ll be a while before you’ll be having dinner.”
“That would be great, thanks Y/N,” he started to scribble in his notebook as you went through to the tiny little kitchen in the back. You poured Henry some orange juice and made him a sandwich, cutting off the crusts just like you knew he liked it and came back through into the shop and placed it in front of him.
“There you go,” you spoke cheerfully and Henry took one big swig of the drink, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
“Oh, I think you actually are in the book,” he grinned and started flipping through the pages.
You laughed as you quirked an eyebrow, “oh yeah? And who am I? A princess I hope,” you sat opposite Henry.
He shook his head as he pushed the book towards you, “no something much more cool.”
You looked down at the colourful artwork splashed across the page and saw the pirate standing at the bow of a ship. The drawing of the woman did kind of look like you, she had different hair but she had the scar through her eyebrow just as you did. As you looked down at the drawing you could almost hear the call of the birds and the ocean breeze.
It reminded you of your dreams.
“So, what’s this story about?” you tore your eyes away from the book and looked at the little boy sitting opposite you.
“It’s about that pirate and the Prince of the land, sworn enemies but they fall in love one day when the pirate saves his life.”
“Why would a pirate save a Prince?” you asked flipping through the book, your eyes coming to rest on a tall man with ink black hair and even darker eyes. You closed the book with a snap and pushed it back over to Henry.
“I don’t know,” Henry shook his head, “maybe she’s good, not everyone has to be a villain.”
“How does the book end?”
“Why don’t you keep it and find out?”
You laughed considering his offer, mentally deciding against it. Regina would never forgive you if you knew you were encouraging her son’s impossible belief.

Dawn. Warm and alerting, bathing the clear sky in orange and red and pink and all sorts of sweltering colors I could imagine. The sea below the cliff was calm and shone with such intensity that it hurt to look at. Yet the scenery was beautiful. The wind hugged me and the sun’s rays welcomed me like an old friend. The top of the cliff was showered in green, the grass moving with the breeze, alive and inviting. Summer was finally here, and it cast large and nostalgic shadows over the ruins of Cair Paravel. Nature had taken over the stones once again, covering the past in colorful present. The altar where the thrones of the Kings and Queen of Old used to be remained intact, as if magic itself wanted to bathe the pedestal in power. Power that came and left, but also power that remained.
Laughter reached my ears. I didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. Giggles and chuckles grew stronger until a pair of short arms wrapped themselves around my legs.
“Mumma, come play with us!” a little boy’s voice demanded, and the happiness in those words finally snapped me back to reality.
With a grin, I turned around, bending down, and picking the kid in my arms, earning a loud howl from him as I spun us. Before either of us could get dizzy, I put him back down, lovingly moving away one of the dark strands of hair that fell over his dark eyes. He looked a bit too much like his father, to no one’s surprise.
Speaking of, he now stood next to me.
“Having fun without me?” Caspian asked in a teasing voice, throwing an arm over my shoulders, using his hand to stroke the exposed skin of my –his– shirt.
I looked up to him. The wrinkles by his eyes were just a tad more prominent, but the same lively spirit adorned his irises. He looked somewhat taller, with his young naivité turned into experienced serenity. He carried himself like the king he was, and yet his lips still turned upwards by the right corner first, kind and amused, as they did when I first met him. His tanned skin glowed in the late afternoon sun, and despite having been married for years, he still managed to make my heart soar.
“Never, Dada!” the kid giggled, still grabbing my legs.
Caspian laughed as he threw him over his shoulder. “Unfortunately, young man, we should get going back to the castle. It’ll be dark soon.”
The boy complained. “But I wanna stay here! I wanna listen to the stories Mumma tells!”
His annoyance didn’t last long, for Caspian quickly used his advantage to shake the boy in the air, earning loud chuckles in return.
I wanted to follow them, I really did, but my feet seemed stuck to the ground. I saw Caspian walk away, yet I couldn’t move. Something was anchoring me to the top of the cliff, and the only thing I could do was stare as the love of my life seemed to disappear before my eyes.
Again, I know I should’ve been scared, as the world around me seemed to crumble once more. I waved my arms around, my hands flexing trying to grab the air with trembling fingers, anything to keep me afloat. Another breeze engulfed me, equally as warm as the sun that was rapidly setting over the horizon. Out of instinct, I closed my eyes, allowing whatever that was to take me to wherever I had to go. Right before everything ended, a familiar voice resounded on the inside of my skull, bringing back that same serenity I had always felt at the top of that cliff.
Soon, my dear.
Tumblr media
I woke up with a start. I immediately frowned as I stared at the ceiling, tracing the lines of the wood at the top of the high-posted bed, analyzing the details in the engraving as I usually did when I couldn’t fall asleep. That had not been the first time I dreamed about Caspian, and what could possibly be our son, but it had been the first time Aslan had made himself known. It had been three years since we last saw him, right after Caspian’s coronation and the Pevensies’ farewell, and despite knowing he was always around, hearing him for the first time after that long only intrigued me. Beautiful, amazing, scary, and anxious things happened during the first three years of Caspian and I’s ruling over Narnia, yet Aslan had never shown up before. I wondered what his message meant too.
I pondered for a few minutes, still lying on the comfortable bed. The quietness of the room, which was starting to fill with light, made me realize I was alone. I raised my head slightly, looking around the room hoping to find Caspian hunched over some papers in a small desk we kept by the balcony, but he was nowhere to be found.
My frown got deeper, and I finally sat down and took a look at the state of the room. Our suite at the castle was huge, bigger than any room I had ever owned. The high ceilings and big windows provided warmth and security. Back at Cair Paravel, I had insisted on a rather modest room, but that was no longer fit for me, or us. I was surprised that Caspian wanted to stay in his childhood castle; he always spoke about his home growing up, and how dark and moody it always was, but after a leap of faith and several peace treaties later, the sun seemed to be always shining over the old Telmar. Because the sun always shone over Narnia.
Yet my favorite part of the suite was the balcony; overlooking the kingdom with the sea at the horizon, with the ships docked at the harbor and the peaceful waves that blended with the sky. I know it wasn’t Cair Paravel, and it would never be, but different didn’t mean worse. Narnia prospered under Caspian’s rule, and I, the newly appointed queen, had had the chance to see the land flourish and rise from its ashes.
I was now outside, staring at the view, looking at the sun slowly climbing its way up, as well as the citizens living right under us starting their days, happy and undisturbed. My heart clenched a little, thinking about how much Lucy would enjoy the view, but I shook my head. I couldn’t think about them now. I couldn’t know if I’d ever see them again, at least in Narnia. As much as I loved remembering the past, I had to focus on my present to succeed in my future.
And my present was now talking rather loudly outside the big wooden door to our suite.
“But, your Majesty…”
“Nonsense. She’s my wife first, I’ll take care of this.”
“Let us help, your Majesty!”
I scrunched my eyebrows at the voices and flinched when the door opened a bit too loudly.
“My love?” Caspian called out.
“In here!”
His footsteps were rushed and heavy as he suddenly appeared before me on the balcony.
“What are you doing up? You heard the doctor, you should rest!” he took me in his arms and gently guided me back to the bed, sitting me down on the mattress and taking my face in his hands, inspecting every detail.
I laughed. “Cas, I’m alright. In fact, I’ve been feeling great for the past few days,” I calmly took my hands in his and put them down. His thumbs automatically rubbed the back of my hands, which didn’t fail to give me goosebumps.
“I still don’t think it’s a good idea…” but I cut him off before he could finish.
“Don’t.”
“Please, my love, I just want you to be alright.”
“I’ll be alright once I have something to do, Cas. You seriously cannot expect me to lay around all day when there’s a world full of adventures out there!”
“Your Majesties?” Edith, one of the maids, interrupted us. “The bath is ready.”
“Thank you, Edith. You may go now,” Caspian looked up but didn’t move from his spot.
Edith bowed to us and left with a troubled expression, and I immediately turned to him again.
“What did you do?”
Caspian tried to look innocent but failed miserably. “Nothing! I woke up early and headed down to the kitchens to fetch you something to eat when you woke up! Then the maids found me and insisted on doing the work but I wouldn’t let them.”
I tried to fight off the smile. “Why did you do that?”
“Because I wanted to do something nice for you. I’ve been worried sick these days and just… wanted to be at your side as much as I can before I leave.”
That alerted me. “What do you mean ‘before I leave’?”
I took my hands away, bringing them to my waist. Caspian was looking at me with a guilty gaze from his place on the ground before me. He spoke slowly, almost testing the waters.
“I don’t think you should come, my love.”
“And why is that?” I raised an eyebrow at him, a bit too defiantly. It was too early in the morning for this.
“I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“So you’re keeping me locked away?”
“That’s not…” he tried to reason, but I wouldn’t let him.
I stood up from the bed, careful not to accidentally hurt him as I walked towards the small en suite, feeling the warm water from the free-standing bath, anything to prevent me from lashing out at him.
“I don’t wanna hear it, Caspian. I’m coming with you. Now, I appreciate the breakfast but if you’re not gonna join me, I think it’s best if you leave me alone now.”
I usually hated being stern with him, but I was tired of the conversation. I wasn’t about to begin yet another fight about the same topic, knowing it would end in disaster. After a few seconds, Caspian spoke.
“I’ll be at the war room, then.”
He didn’t say anything else and left. I sighed, already feeling bad at our near-discussion, and let myself sink into the water. My eyes closed as I tried not to let the anger consume me.
It hadn’t been the first time Caspian had suggested I don’t participate in the mission. Ever since I had randomly fainted during a training session he had been treating me like a child. And I understood his preoccupation, because I too worried about him every single second of my existence, but it had been almost two weeks, and I had been feeling fine ever since I woke up after the episode. Caspian had even called every single doctor, physician, and healer in the entirety of Narnia, and the verdict was all the same: I was fine. The day had been hot, and I had been tired, and there hadn’t been anything more to it. Yet now, after months of preparing our sailing around the Lone Islands, Caspian was willing to let me stay behind. And I was not going to let him. Narnia needed its queen.
Tumblr media
Walking around the halls of the old Telmarine castle was always one of my favorite activities, and while I would normally stop and appreciate the many pieces of art that decorated the walls, I was a woman on a mission.
Most of my armor was left at our suite, knowing I wouldn’t be needing it for what was about to happen, but for good measure my dual swords were at my back. Despite bowing and nodding at every person I saw in the halls, the sense of urgency in my steps was enough for them to leave a significant space between them and me as I approached the big doors to the war room. With a final breath, I opened them wide.
Caspian’s face was priceless. He probably wasn’t expecting me so soon, and I definitely wasn’t expecting him to have a whole meeting without me. All of our counselors and fellow top warriors stood at the round table, where a large map of the entire Narnian territory was displayed for everybody to see. Little figures were being moved by Reepicheep, our mighty and beloved mouse, although he too stopped when I came in.
“Your Majesty,” he respectfully bowed at me, and it was only after he did that the rest of the room followed.
Ouch. That stung.
“I see you’ve already started without me,” I noted, closing the heavy doors behind me and occupying my place at the other end of the table, facing Caspian directly. “Did I miss anything?”
Thankfully, Reepicheep answered. “Not at all, my Queen. We’re just revisiting the details of the voyage. I don’t think we should postpone it any more, my lords.”
I nodded. “Good. When do we leave, then?”
“Wait…” Caspian tried again.
“I believe the Dawn Treader is ready, so what’s stopping us?”
Lord Drinian, the captain of the first Narnian ship, spoke. “Well, His Majesty thought it better to wait until your health improved, my Queen.”
I glared at Caspian. “My health has been perfectly fine for the past week, Lord Drinian, thank you for your concern. Now I believe, as captain of the Narnian army, I have a say in this mission.”
“Of course, my Queen. And I can assure you, no decision will be made without your approval,” Reepicheep bowed his little head again, bless his heart. Yet the fact that a talking mouse seemed to care more about my word than my own husband did was something I wasn't enjoying at all.
“Then why wasn’t I informed about this meeting?”
Every head turned to Caspian after I fired the question. My blood was already boiling by that point. I didn’t want to place the blame on him, but, after all, he hadn’t even mentioned a meeting in the first place.
Taking a breath to calm down, I continued. “Again, I appreciate the concern, but from now on, even if I’m on my deathbed, I should, no, I have to be informed about anything that involves my kingdom. I’m equally as useful out there as inside the castle.”
My eyes were glued on Caspian, who hadn’t moved his gaze off me. He could feel my anger, I was sure of that, and it was taking everything in me to not lash out completely in a room full of people. I didn’t want to give them another reason to think lowly of me as it was.
“Very well,” Caspian said at last, not without taking a big gulp at first. “Let’s begin, then.”
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe you did that,” I closed the door to our suite with a loud bang.
Caspian flinched before me.
“I told you, I’m sorry!” he threw his hands up. “I don’t know how many times I’ve said that!”
“It’s not about what you said, Caspian, it’s about what you did! What you keep on doing, as a matter of fact!”
He lowered his voice, confused. “What do you mean?”
“Do you understand how hard it is for me?” I yelled. I knew I was letting the anger on him, but I couldn’t seem to stop now. “How hard it is to wake up every day and try twice as much to be taken seriously?”
“What do you mean?”
I sighed. “I’m not a queen, Caspian. I’m a joke.”
“That’s not true.”
“It is! I told you how life was back in the days with the Pevensies! So many people in court wouldn’t hesitate to question my worth every time I took the wrong step. It took years to show everyone I was as capable as any other man. It didn’t even matter I was knighted by Aslan himself! And now?” I walked to the balcony, suddenly in desperate need of air. Despite the high ceilings of the room, I was suffocating. “Now, I know that everything I do is being scrutinized. I can’t afford to spend a day in bed because now I have an entire kingdom to look after. I can’t miss a meeting, I can’t miss a training session; I really can’t give anybody the chance to believe that I’m not worthy of being a queen.”
A single tear fell from my eyes, but Caspian brushed it away with delicate fingers. He put his hands on my shoulders, making me face him.
I didn’t want to look at him after that, but he raised my head with a finger, pinning his dark eyes on mine.
“You, are worthy of every beautiful thing in the world, my love. You have nothing to prove to anyone. I know what you’ve done and what you’re capable of, and I love you with every beat of my heart. And most importantly, you know what you’ve done and what you’re capable of. So what if you miss a few meetings? Or a mission? You are my queen, you are the queen of Narnia. Nothing’s gonna change that. And I wouldn’t have anyone else by my side, not even given the choice.”
More tears kept flowing from my eyes.
“Then why am I always this insecure?” I spoke, almost in a whisper.
Caspian smiled softly. “Because you’re human. And you have emotions, and this is no easy job, and you’re right. I don’t know what life looks like for you, and I’m sorry for keeping you away from the chaos downstairs. I thought I was doing the right thing. Now I know that I can’t keep you locked away, no matter how afraid I am of something happening to you.”
“Is that why you did it?” I asked, putting my hands over his.
I intertwined our fingers together, a habit I quickly picked up after being married to him.
He nodded. “Do you know how I felt when I saw you lying there, pale and rigid?” He moved a strand of hair behind my ears, and his gaze turned slightly darker.
I shook my head. I remembered the feeling, the gnawing knowledge that my legs were giving out, and praying I wouldn’t fall too hard on my head.
“My whole world stopped. You weren’t moving. And nobody knew why. It was a scene I had already seen once at the How and I had made a promise to myself that you wouldn’t ever be in that situation again… And there you were, on the bed, five doctors surrounding you and not one of them could say what was wrong. And I don’t care that I didn’t move for a whole day, left my duties to someone else, and just sat by your side waiting for you to wake up.”
I was frozen in place. I didn’t even know what to feel anymore. All my anger suddenly dissipated, leaving longing, confusion, and guilt behind. I had been a bit too focused on my own discomfort that I hadn’t even thought about what Caspian had felt when it all happened. Even though I had been the one to drop dead in the middle of the courtyard, he had never left my side, going as far as making me breakfast despite not knowing a single thing about cooking.
“I…” I began, but he cut me off again. He somehow always managed to read my mind.
“And hey, I know what you’re thinking. It’s not your fault, okay?” Caspian said. “I don’t want you to blame yourself. I should’ve asked you first about what you wanted. And there is no way that I’m leaving without you now. I need my right hand, and I need my wife. Luckily for me, you’re both.”
I smiled. A genuine smile for the first time in hours. “Wherever you go, I go.”
“Together,” Caspian affirmed.
I brought his face to mine and kissed him, properly. The last few days we had shared quick and almost timid kisses, usually on Caspian’s behalf, probably not to hurt me. And every single doubt, fear, and hesitation was thrown out the window when his arms embraced me fully, keeping me impossibly close to him. His beard tickled my face, and my fingers got lost in his mane, a little tamer and lighter than it had been at first. His fingers trailed the light wool patterns of the shirt I wore, and I swore at that moment that no matter what came at us, I was always going to fight for him, and for us.
We pulled back at the same time, breathless and smiling.
“We leave at dawn, then.”

Prince Caspian  x Reader
Two children were running around the castle, both in their nightwear. Both were supposed to be put to bed hours ago but the girl was leaving in the morning and neither was ready to say goodbye. The boy was trying to catch the girl but she was always faster than he was, it was nearly impossible for him to keep up. He had one benefit though, her constant giggling. It was one of his most treasured sounds. He could hear her teasing voice “ Come catch me Cas! Your so slow!'' It was followed by another string of giggles. The dream shifted to the upcoming morning, the two were now sitting on a balcony, promising the other to be friends forever and to write as often as possible. The girl was leaving to go back to her kingdom, where her training would soon begin. She wouldn't be back for a long time.
Caspian woke up with a start. His dreams of her were becoming more and more frequent. He didn't know if it was supposed to be some type of sign or not but just dreaming of her again was filling his chest with longing. He hadn't seen her since the crowning of his uncle, and there was barely time to talk. She wasn't able to stay very long. Caspian missed her, he missed when they were children and were void of responsibility. Her parents had died not long after his own and she was crowned queen of her kingdom, Therondia. His uncle resented her kingdom, no one quite knew the reason but it was well known. Caspian sighed to himself and got prepared for his studies with professor Cornelius.
Upon entering the royal library Cornelius could sense something off about his young pupil. Normal Caspian was always at least five minutes late, the boy loved his sleep. But on this particular morning he was a few minutes early, and he looked out of focus and lost in his own mind. The young prince sat across from his professor who created him. “Good morning your highness” Caspian offered him a good morning but didn't look up from the table. “What has you so focused young prince?” Caspian once again sighed “ I had an odd dream last night, It's happened before as well, always the same.” Cornelius raised an eyebrow “Well tell me about this dream” Caspian started from the beginning and recounted every detail. Cornelius nodded at the end of the prince's story. “ It is odd that you are having these dreams before her arrival, maybe it is the magic of this land trying to tell you something.” Caspian gave him a confused look. “What do you mean before she arrives?” It was Cornelius now who was confused “Has your uncle not told you? Evelyn is coming to the castle. “ Caspian’s eyes grew wide. “I have not been told of this, When is she expected to arrive?” “ Later today I believe, your uncle requested to meet with her.” Caspian nodded and then looked down at his attire. He'd have to change before she got there. Cornelius noticed the already racing mind the young boy had “ Young prince she won't be here for a while still. You can worry about your appearance after your studying.” Caspian sighed but nodded. The two sat in the library for what felt like an eternity to Caspian. They were quietly reading when there was a commotion in the hall. Both stood and stuck their heads out of the library. Cornelius had asked a passing maid what was going on to which she replied with a bright smile “ Queen Y/N has arrived!” She had taken off and Caspian’s eyes had grown wide, he had no time to make himself more presentable. He turned to his mentor and asked the silent question. Cornelius smiled, “ Go meet her, I’m sure she's eager to see you too.” The Caspian hand needed to be told twice.

SNOW ON THE BEACH - C
anti-hero | you're on your own kid | midnights
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: the one where you realise that there will be a change in your whole life and you have to leave to behind with someone you don't like
wordcount: 2.1k
Tumblr media
Professor Cornelius was one of Miraz’s most trusted advisors. He had trusted him to raise his nephew, Cassian the tenth after the death of his brother, Caspians father. What Mirza was unaware of that was during Caspians joint lessons with the Professor and one of the ladies of the Telmarine court, that he was being taught all about Narnia history.
Caspian couldn't stand the girl who he worked alongside in his lessons with Professor Cornelius. She was stuck up, arrogant and downright annoying. He didn't care if she was the daughter of Lord Sopespian, he did not enjoy her company.
What he liked least about her was that his uncle was trying to propose for there to be a marriage alliance between the two teenagers. Caspian knew that his uncle needed alliances but there was no way he would ever want to marry you.
You felt the same way. There was no way you would marry someone as naive and ignorant as Caspian. You could see all the other ladies in the court fawning over him and even though you felt a little sick picturing him in love with these other women, you knew they would be better fit for the role; there was no way you could tolerate the Telmarine heir. Your whole life was to be unglued, all thanks to him.
He was insufferable but you would never wish harm on him. As you drifted in and out of sleep, you were unaware of the plot against his life. It was one night that would change your life, the moon high above your heads.
The professor that you shared with Caspian did though. As soon as he heard news of Prunaprismia and the child that she had given birth to earlier in the evening, he raced to Caspians bedchambers.
In the cover of night, he crept into the room and drew back the curtains on his bed to reveal the sleeping prince. He looked so peaceful and Cornelius knew that it was all going to change in a few minutes.
He shook Caspian awake and the young boy stirred for a second before squinting up at him in confusion, “Five more minutes,” he mumbled out, reaching a hand out to push his Professor away.
“We must hurry,” he said and when Caspian heard the urgency in his voice, he sat up and looked at the man he trusted most. He would not be making this up if it wasn’t urgent. “The baby is a son,” His eyes went wide at the realisation of what Cornelius meant, “Come, you must grab the duchess and leave,”
Caspian stood up, wrapping a jacket around himself before he followed Professor Cornelius down the steps. They split off for a second and he rushed into your bedroom.
He’d never seen you so peaceful. You were just lying there asleep, no furrowed brow, no condescending look on your face. He could feel his breath hitch in his throat as he looked at you. You were beautiful.
he shook off that weird feeling in his chest as he reached forward and shook you awake.
You were a light sleeper and when you opened your eyes to see him standing above you, you instantly pulled the covers over yourself.
“What's wrong with you Caspian?” you exclaimed as you reached for the dagger on your bedside table.
He grabbed your wrist, stopping you from brandishing a weapon at him. He looked down at you and he knew that you wouldn't believe him, “Shh, they're coming for me,”
He was right. You didn't believe him, not even for a second. Who was coming for him? You sat up in your bed, looking at him like he was a crazy man.
“You're insane,” you shook your head at him and he gave you that look hee used to give you when you were kids, the one that begged for you to trust him. You were teenagers now, not some starry eyes kids - he had finally gone insane, “Get away,”
Caspian knew that this must have felt like some scene from a book to you and he began to curse Cornelius for not taking this job, “Now that my cousin has been born, my uncle has sent people to kill me,”
That got your attention, “Your uncle is a good leader, he would never-”
You stopped talking when you heard the sounds of yelling outside and a lice that you recognised as General Glozelles voice. He was telling the truth.
Your eyes went wide at the thought and you pushed the blankets off of yourself. His eyes grew wider as well at the sight of you in your nightgown, the slightly sheer fabric flowing off of your body.
“What have you gotten yourself into?” You asked him, turning your head over your shoulder to look at him as you grabbed a bag, stuffing your dagger inside.
“Come with me. If you challenge him he will surely catch you too,” he suggested and you scoffed, slinging your satchel over your shoulder.
“What does it look like I’m doing, of course I’m coming with you,”
Without any hesitation, you followed Caspian down the steps to the stables where your professor was waiting.
He handed you your sword and then Caspian his. You suddenly realised how real this all was and that she was going to have to leave all of this behind for a life that she didn't know.
You hated your father. You hated him more than anyone else in the world and even though he was physically and emotionally abusive to you, his only child, you felt weird at the idea of leaving all you’ve ever known behind.
You took a deep breath before putting the sword into a holster that you strapped round your waist. You pulled a jacket on and looked at Caspian as he sat up on his horse.
He reached a hand out for you and you grasped it tightly, allowing him to pull you up so that you were sitting behind him.
When you saw Professor Cornelius standing there, you realised that he wouldn't be able to come with you. It would look too suspicious.
“You must make for the woods, they won't follow you there,” he said and you both nodded in response.
There was a chill that ran down your spine at the thought. You weren’t superstitious but you knew that there were stories of Narnians who lived in that forest, of trees that came to life and of centaurs and fauns.
The professor dug into his satchel before passing her a conch horn. She looked at it for a second, unsure what this was.
“Do not use this unless at your greatest need,” he stated and though she didn't understand why, she put it into her satchel and nodded her head.
Caspian sat there for a second, silent, “Will I ever see you again?” You had never felt sorry for him until this moment. He sounded like a little boy who was being separated from a parent and your heart broke a little.
“I hope so my prince, I still have so much to tell you both. Be careful. Look after one another,” he said.
Professor Cornelius placed a hand on your shoulder, shooting you both a sad smile before opening the gates
Without any hesitation, Caspian whipped the reins and the two of you started to travel out. You turned around when you got to the gates, a sad expression on your face as you looked at the castle.
This was all you had ever known. You had never travelled outside of the palace walls without a chaperone and now you were starting to wonder if you would ever get to come home.
The ride was bumpy but as you turned around, hands secure on Caspians shoulders, you knew that the two of you would be okay.
You could hear the fireworks and then you turned your head around again, watching the colours explode over the castle as they celebrated the birth of Miraz’s son. It was ironic that the happiest day of his life would be the worst of yours.
What was more important was that you could see the soldiers on their horses chasing after you and Caspian.
”They’re coming, and quickly,” you exclaimed.
You could feel a slight tug of hesitation in Caspian when you reached the border of the forests but he sped through the woods.
There was a chill that ran down your spine as you entered the woods. Everyone claimed they were haunted by the ghosts of the Narnians and even though your professor would always guarantee there was nothing dangerous about it, you couldn't help but feel fear of the Telmarine folk tales.
They crossed a river and you could feel the water resistance, “Hold on,” Caspian said as you reached a particularly deep section of the crossing.
Begrudgingly, you reached an arm around Caspians waist and held on tight, the side of your face pressed into his back.
There was an intimacy about the whole thing and you could feel a weird emotion in the pit of your stomach as you held onto him close. He would be lying if he didnt feel the same thing as you wrapped your arms around him.
Even when you crossed the river, you didn't let go of him and neither of you mentioned it. Him wanting you felt impossible, like some sort of dream. This can’t be the real thing. Can it?
“Are you okay?” He asked after a second, turning back to check on you. The question vanished from your head as you looked at him. There was no sound, only him.
You looked up at him, your heart pounding in your chest. Before you could answer him, the horse ran into a branch and you watched as he was knocked off of the horse.
Within a second, he was knocked off, his foot caught in the stirrups. You leaned down, trying to untangle him from the straps but as you did so, you fell off, hitting your head on a boulder.
Caspian watched as the horse sped off without either of you and when he turned to see you lying there in the middle of the clearing, he felt his heart speed up.
Although he hated you, he never imagined a life without you in it to annoy him. He instantly crawled over despite the pain in his head from having been dragged along the forest floor and he knelt by your side.
He could hear the Telmarine soldiers getting nearer and he knew that he had to make a decision. Run away and leave you there or stay and fight for you both.
He couldn't leave you.
“Wake up, wake up,” he muttered to himself as he tried to shake you awake.
He reached one hand out to grab his sword but it was too far. Before he could get up and grab it to make his final stand, he looked up to see two dwarves emerging from a hut.
He looked at them with wide eyes and instantly pushed you behind him. He wasn't going to let these creatures get you both.
One of the dwarves ran right past him and into the fight. He was confused as to why this dwarf would be so willing to fight against the Telmarines but did not question it.
When Caspian saw the other dwarf heading towards him, he knew what he had to do. He grabbed the conch from your satchel and blew it. The entire woods shook at the sound and he wondered what strange powers this conch had.
He looked down at you, a hand on your face as he realised that this dwarf would probably kill you both at the first chance. As he looked at you, he realised all of his feelings. They bubbled up in his chest and he realised that he wasn't going to be able to leave you.
Caspian reached over for his sword but before he could, the dwarf hit him over the head, knocking him unconscious.
The badger emerged from the hut and looked at the two of you lying there, Caspians hand still on your cheek, your faces turned to look at one another. He knew then that he couldn't let either of you die and that there was something special about the two Telmarine teenagers.
“Help me get them Nikabrik, we must help them,” he said and begrudgingly the dwarf helped to drag the two of you inside.
Little did they know what they had gotten themselves involved in

Rated M - Multichapter - Susan/Caspian
Seven years ago, Susan and her siblings were sent away from a war to the safety of the country side only to be thrust into another war.  As the years wear on, their soldiers return from battle fewer and fewer in number, and the graves multiply overnight.
Running out of options and manpower, their last chance is proposing an alliance with the King of Telmar, a kingdom seemly just barely allied with the Witch and itching to get out from under her power.
Susan walks into the meeting with the King with Edmund at her side and little hope left in her heart, and leaves with an alliance that could turn the tide of the war - and a husband.

Part 4: Tag You're It
I examine him for a concussion. "come come he's alright now dearie, come sit and eat" Trufflehunter says placing a bowl on the table "thank you." " what are you two doing here anyways?" "Running away" Caspian answered for us , the dwarf and badger shared a look
"my uncle has always wanted my throne. I suspect I've only lived this long because he did not have an heir of his own" caspian continues as he stirs his soup "that changes things... means we dont have to kill you ourselves" nikibrisk adds "your right" "Im sorry?" Caspian rushes
to the enterance of the home and puts his armour back on "you can't just let the kill you Caspian, the professor didnt train us for this moment just so you can go get yourself killed" "you're meant to save us" "dont you get it he won't stop until i'm dead" "don't you know
what this is?" trufflehunter asks Caspian making him turn back to us "it's a horn." he states matter a factly just before he runs out the home "I won't let him leave" "then you might need this" nikibrisk says
handing me the sword "just use it to knock him out" "Im alright thank you" "suit yourself" I get out following him "where do you plan to go?" "I don't know" " then why don't you at least come back inside and eat
before we go?" "we?" " yes we, both of us have a target on our backs now thaat I've helped you escape, besides I promised you I'd be there for you, remember" "that was a childs promise" "not to me besides you know you need me you cant cook to save your life" "that is true"
"you'd never be able to shake me off, your stuck with me" he steps forward "I think one day I would" "your logic is off, you hit your head remember?" he lets out a laugh, I take his hand and lead him back inside "so you did manage to bring him back" "Nikibrisk."
trufflehunter scolds "don't worry we're jut in for the meal, we can't stay long they might do worse to you if your taking care of us" "I actually do agree with him on that" "so you won't help us?" "Im sorry I wouldnt even know where to begin, we have no army behind us, it's
just the two of us" "we, have an army, it's not much, just whats left of the narnians" "theres more of you?" I inquire curiously "not as many as there used to be before you telmarines invaded, but yes" nikibrisk answered "aren't you in line for the throne?"
"yes but thats just it the stories of narnia that have been told to us since childhood, they don't exactly favor Narnians, no one will go for it" we all start eating letting the arguement cool down for a moment "would you be willing to lead an army, it would help you stake your
claim for the throne and be beneficial for all the lives of narnia" Trufflehunter pipes up while retrieving our dishes "I have never lead an army, I could lead you all to extinction" "but you could Caspian, I've seen you train soldiers you were born to lead, you were raised to
be king, kings lead armies you know this I know but showing them that a telmarine prince would be willing to bring them out from beneath the shadows would show them that there is a chance to bring them back to what Narnia used to be, the narnia I know you love hearing about"
"I need to think about it, we should comeback by nightfall" he walks out and I thank them before following him out knowing they would give us a 5 minute head start, letting him believe he actually has that freedom we walk in silence for a while before he speaks up
"did you actually believe everything you said in there?" I stop to look at him "I wouldnt have said it unless it were true or else I would be leading you to your death" "what mkes you think I will?" "because I know you Caspian, you do the right thing even if it scares you or you
end up all bloodied up, that's what you've always done" "come here" I walk closer to him and hug him around the neck "I can hear you" we pull away towards the noise "sorry to interrupt this lovely moment but we were about to risk losing the both of you" Trufflehunter replies
"you are really convincing" nikibrisk tells me " we should wait for the kings and queens" he continues walking in front of us "Fine! Go then! See if the other will be just as understanding" "or we can come with you I do want to see how you explain things to the mintaurs." nikibrisk
adds "seriously I can only do so much" I tell them "minotaurs?" he stops "they're real?" "I told you I wasn't lying!" "and very bad tempered" "not to mention big, huge" "what about centaurs? do they still exist?"
"the centuars will probably fight on your side but theres no telling what the others will do" tells truthfully "what about Aslan, Is he real aswell?" I ask they share a look. "how do you know so much about us? nikibrisk counters "Stories"
"your father has told you stories bout Narnia?" no, our professor tells us not the most recent ones and old books" "I'm sorry but these are not the questions you should be asking" Caspian continues walking I follow, not wanting to be so close to the awkward atmosophere
"what is it?" "human" "them?" "no, soldiers" we take off on a run "stay low!" we hear some one collapse they turn heading towards trufflehunter "no, I'll go, you're who they're after Caspian, go" I reach the badger "no take it go its more important than I am he says
handing me the horn" "no" I say putting my bow on my shoulder picking up the badger. all the sudden a soldier falls and lets out a scream causing the soldier to change their focus on whatever was attacking them. I run off once again sheilding the badger with my
body as they continue to come after us until I reach nikibrisk and hand him over to him "take care of him" I start shooting at the soldiers left until the last one left started panicing slaying the plants around him I threw my bow and arrows to the side as I took my sword
from it's sheath I fell quickly on my back before I could even get it out "Lex!" I hear Caspian call "Choose your last words carefully Telmarine" I let our a breath "how did you take them all down?" "finally something new" he answered sarcastically "pick up your sword" "no
thank you I'm not an idiot" "I will not fight an unarmed man much less a woman" "which is why I have the chance to live longer I am not about to lose that chance" "I didn't say i would let you live" "you said you wouldn't fight me, I pay attention" "Let. her. go."
"you know im doing just fine on my own Cas" I say putting my hands behind my head "don't tempt him he was a miniture sword" "Reepicheep! stay your blade" "Trufflehunter? I trust you have a very good reason for this untimely interruption"
"oh please as if you'd kill a woman much less one unarmed" " maybe but him I would for sure" "he doesn't go ahead" "why am I not surprised i mutter underneath my breath "he's the one who blew the horn." "what?" "then let him bring it forward." I hear turning towards
the voice "this is the reason we have gathered" I turn towards the mouse "I'd appreciate it if I could get up" "right sorry miss"

sometimes i think about narnia and i vibrate out of my skin like...
you walk into a world you cannot understand, frozen and dying, and it is you who thaws it. you who kills the witch, you who breaks the stone table, you who slays the wolf. it is you who is crowned and it is you who wails for two worlds when the wardrobe doors shut behind you.
your skin never sits quite right and your teeth are too dull. there are wars in your bones and decades in your eyes before you can reach the telephone on the wall.
you are king. you are queen. they won't let you read the newspapers at breakfast.
it calls you back from beyond a train and from within paint. begs with bloody palms and salt-crusted cheeks. takes from you all that you can give - and sends you back.
you watch your sister fade.
you are a child twice and an adult once. and when you stand in your home again, with crushed bones and the smell of coal still in your nose, you watch them sneer at your sister.
your sister is the sun above you. she is, beautiful and stone-cast, alive in a world you could never stomach. she smiles, still, and stretches her skin over human bones.
she is no longer a friend of narnia. do you tell them it is her who has to bury you all and the stars that are falling from the skies in shards?

summary: eustace doesn't believe that edmund has a girlfriend.
wc: 800
pairings: edmund pevensie x fem!reader
warnings: VERY unedited. also it's 1am and i just wrote this in a burst of inspiration, so please don't expect it to be good.
a/n: i don't really know if this will make sense to anyone lol, i think i wrote it in a confusing way, but hopefully it's okay. it's mostly eustace's pov, i wanted to try something new. also, this exact scenario has been in my head for months now.
Tumblr media
“There’s no way he has a girlfriend,” Eustace tells Lucy, barging into the room. She immediately knows who he’s talking about, able to hear Edmund on the phone downstairs, voice softer than it usually is, taking the tone he automatically opts for when he speaks to Y/N.
“Why?” Lucy asks, half-heartedly entertaining her annoying cousin while she thumbs through the pages of her book. Unfortunately for her, Eustace Scrubb brightens at the attention, straightening up and launching into a rather well-thought out spiel.
“First of all, it’s Edmund we’re talking about. He’s awkward, way too hostile and bad-tempered. Not to mention, he’s barely of average height, and his hair? Absolutely ridiculous.”
“Y/N likes it,” Lucy says mildly, earning a scoff from Eustace.
“Y/N.” he says with disbelieving scorn, “As if she actually exists. You expect me to believe that a woman as beautiful and intelligent as you lot claim she is would actually be interested in Edmund? And so interested that she calls and writes to him multiple times a week? Yeah, right. I bet that Ed’s hired an escort to help him forget about how lonely he actually is. Or he’s paying some poor girl to play the part of a caring partner.” Eustace has had many such theories, the more creative ones dealing with blackmail and holding family members hostage, but so far, monetary imbursements seem to be the most likely.
“Sure, Eustace,” Lucy mumbles, having checked out of the conversation a while ago. He shakes his head at her disinterest, convinced that he is right, and leaves the room, muttering to himself disbelievingly.
Tumblr media
A few days later, a painting gushes out water and swallows them whole, so poor Eustace, although having taunted his cousins with his skepticisms about the magical land of Narnia and called them fools for believing in the same, is forced to confront that he was wrong.
Eustace is soaking wet and miserable, still slightly panic infused. He can’t believe his eyes, convinced that he hallucinated the last fifteen minutes. Sitting on the ship, the Dawn Treader, he watches as his cousins are recognised as King and Queen. He’s related to royalty.
With a humorous snort, he realises that this is more believable than Edmund Pevensie having a girlfriend.
Hell, even the talking rat next to him is more believable.
He goes to voice the same, but is distracted by a joyous whoop descending from the sky, followed by a splash in the ocean. Eustace is too busy trying to catch a glimpse of the figure underwater to notice the hopeful glances Edmund and Lucy exchange, the faint tremour in Edmund’s hands as he snatches a telescope from a passing crew member, getting a clearer view.
“It is her!” Ed cries, only barely held back from jumping overboard by Caspian, who laughs fondly at the Just King. Eustace tries to hear what the Prince tells Edmund, but all noise turns to mush the second he sees the young woman surface, a brilliant smile on her face.
At first glance, he thinks it’s a siren. He’s heard stories about their enchanting beauty and ethereal forms, and Eustace does genuinely believe that this woman is too gorgeous to be human like he is. As she swims closer, though, and the ship's crew help pull her onto the ship, Eustace notices the lack of a tail. And though her hair is soaked and strewn across her face, and her clothes suction themselves to her skin, none of it takes away from her radiance.
It also doesn’t distract him from the fact that she’s walking right towards him.
Eustace’s mouth goes bone dry, and he gulps nervously, afraid she’ll talk to him and afraid she won’t, when suddenly, Edmund swoops past him and towards the woman. He snatches her up in a passionate embrace, hands securing her to him as he twirls her around in sheer delight.
When they kiss, chaste but heady, Eustace decides that he has never actually known anything about anything.
He’s scouring the sky for flying pigs when he hears Edmund’s self-satisfied voice behind him, “And this, my very real girlfriend, Y/N, would be my cousin, Eustace Scrubb.”
“How do you do?” Eustace says weakly, extending a hand, trying his hardest not to faint when you take it.
“Pretty well. If only Edmund would- what was it again?- stop holding my family hostage, I think I’d be great,” you rib amiably, throwing back one of Eustace’s earliest theories back into his now scarlet face.
“No, darling, you’ve got it wrong, I’ve currently got your dogs kidnapped and ready to be shipped to the pound, remember?” Edmund joins in on the fun, his smile widening as he earns a couple of chuckles from you, and a darker flush from Eustace’s cheeks.
Eustace Scrubb, though unwilling, is forced to admit, after watching the two of you interact, gravitating towards each other naturally, at ease with the love that surrounds you, his cousin’s eyes brighter than he’s ever seen them, that it is very believable for Edmund Pevensie to be dating Y/N L/N after all.

Word Count: 1363
Requested: Yes, by so amazing annon 💜
Warnings: Mention of longing, crying, separation from loved ones, and food.
If I forgot about anything feel free to write to me. Your wellbeing is important to me!
Summary: Where she and Caspian meet again in a different world.
Tumblr media
You went to Narnia with the Pevensies on their second journey there. You immediately fell in love with this world and the young prince you met there. You were lucky enough to be able to come back to Narnia to the Dawn Treader and have more time with Caspian. You spent every minute you could together. You tried to help him as much as you could. And he made sure to show you that he appreciated it. Your safety was the most important thing for him.
When you found all the lost lords and defeated the darkness, you met Aslan holding each other's hands. You all could not believe that it was yours last time there. You allowed Lucy and Edmund to say their goodbyes to the young king, and then you fell in Caspian's arms with tears.
Caspian held her close to him, gently stroking her head with his hand. She leaned into him, quietly sobbing into his chest. He needed to close his eyes to stop his tears.
"Love… it will be alright. I am sure that one day we will meet again. "He moved so slightly to take her face into his hands. He gently whipped her cheeks, trying to smile at her, but she could see his pain.
"I don't want to leave you. I needed to do it once, and I lived the whole year with this longing. I am not sure if I can do it again."
"You can. I know it. It will be hard at first, and trust me… I don't want you to leave Narnia. But I have a feeling that you are needed in your world. You can find happiness there, even if now you think it's impossible." Caspian gently stroked her cheeks and kissed her forehead fondly.
"How can I find happiness when I leave my heart with you here?" She moved her hand to the back of his head.
"Someday… someday someone special will cross your paths, and you will feel whole again." Caspian's voice shivered at the thought of his lover with someone else, but he knew it was true. "I will always be part of you, just like you will always have a special place in my heart. I will always love you." They both could hear Lucy sobbing even more when Edmund tried to smooth her.
"I love you, Caspian. Truly and forever." He leaned down and gently connected their lips. She felt thousands of butterflies in her belly. But then the thought that it was one last time painfully squeezed her heart.
You came back to your world. You tried to learn how to live there again. You had Lucy, Edmund and even Eustace to help you - they all saw your suffering. You ended school and found work, trying to help people. Even when you tried, there still were days when the only thing you could do was wrap yourself in the blanket and think about the young king.
One day, you walk home after work and do some quick shopping (after all, you need something to eat). When you looked around, wanting to cross a street, your heart stopped - on the other side, you saw Caspian the Navigator.
She stopped suddenly in the middle of the street and couldn't believe her own eyes. Just a few steps before her was him - Caspian. He was in his Narnian clothes, and a few people who passed him looked at him strangely. The bag she was holding fell to the ground, and her hand went to her mouth. She blinked a few times, but he was still there, and his eyes finally fell on her. Firstly, shock replaced confusion, and after a few seconds, a wild smile - a smile full of love - showed on his face. It was his smile that made her sure that it was him. She started walking, and the horn from a passing car awoke her. She looked around and tried to safely come to him. She stood before him, and tears came to her eyes.
"It's you… you are here." She whispered, and he nodded.
"I am, love. I still don't know how, but I am here. And I think that you're the reason I'm still here." She sobbed loudly and fell into him, nearly knocking him over. He hugged her tightly, lifting her a little and taking a deep breath. "You have no idea how much I missed having you in my arms." He whispered into her hair, kissing the top of her head.
"I think I know… because I dream about falling asleep with you next to me every night." She smiled, snuggling her face into the crock of his neck.
After a while, you both returned for your things. You showed him the way to your home. The whole time he looked around, charmed by your world. He asked so many questions, and the only thing you could do was smile when you answered him. He held your hands tightly when he watched passing cars, fascinated by them. All you could do was to bring his hand closer to your heart, watching his face. At that moment, you could watch how he changed in the time that passed, and he only became more handsome (and before you thought it was impossible...). You asked him if he wanted to meet with Pevensies immediately or if he'd like to rest and change first. At his request, you brought him to your home. You found some more appropriate clothes for your times for him. When he walked in, you couldn't tear your eyes from him. He looked so different but still so, so good.
You prepared some tea and something to eat. You talked about the time you were separated. Caspian told you how he came to your world. He told you how everything was in Narnia after your departure. He made you laugh and smile more times than you did since you returned from Narnia. You showed him how different things worked - his favourite being the radio. You watched him with a big smile, and when the ballad started, he stood up before you with an outstretched hand in silent question.
She took his hand, and he led her to the centre of the small room. He brought her close to him, and she rested her head against his chest. They started to gently sway just like years before at his coronation ball. He rested his head against hers, and they both closed their eyes, wishing for this moment to last forever. After a few moments, when the song had changed, she looked up and slowly brought her hand to his bearded cheek. She caressed it with her thumb, making him smile. He rested his forehead against hers, squeezing her waist gently.
"I still can't believe I can hold you in my arms again." He whispered, feeling how she moved her hand to the back of his neck. "I dreamed about it every night since you disappeared. And every night, I prayed that I'll have the opportunity to tell you how much I love you once more."
"And we have it." She smiled, nuzzling her nose against his. "We are here together. And I will fight even with Aslan himself to make it stay this way. No matter where - here or in Narnia - I will fight for us to stay together. But… Would you like to stay?" He heard the uncertainty in her voice, and it squeezed his heart painfully. He stopped his movement and looked straight into her eyes.
"With you, my love, I would stay anywhere - just to be with you. Here, in Narnia, in the deep of the sea. It didn't matter. I want to be with you." She could fight the tears that came into her eyes. Caspian rode his hand and gently whipped them with his calloused fingers. With a slight movement, she softly pulled his face closer to hers. Finally, she connected their lips to a kiss full of love, longing and a promise of a better future. Because even if they didn't know at that moment how they would do it - they would spend it together.

This is for your sleepover. I am just being a menace knowing what this prompt could cause. I am requesting a fic. Work at all your leisure.
So it is a request for a Dark! King Caspian. Prompts
"i thought i could trust you." "and whose fault is that?"
their breath hitching whenever the other gets a little closer
Maybe if you would like some background
Reader was Caspian's friend that has helped him even after everyone has told them he was a lost cause. But Reader is in love and keeping it from him. But that's just a suggestion you work your own magic.
Okay, we spoke about this and I told you what people have no clue about, but Prince Caspian was my first fictional boyfriend. My first man. I haven't written him in ages and this might genuinely tingle parts of my brain that were long forgotten, but I can't wait. Here we go, Ellie. — main masterlist | 🏷️: Dark!King Caspian, life-long best friends, friends to enemies to lovers to 'friends', pining, mentions of smut, unresolved sexual tension; [WC: 1.4k]

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ˗ˏˋ꒰ i was never there ꒱
Peace among the Telmarine Kingdoms came at high prices that one but he, the King, was ready to speak for or own up to. It came at the cost of what sometimes felt like his soul if he still believed in those.
Most of the time, you stood by his side as Caspian chose whatever he must.
As his Counselor, you knew what no one else in the world did.
As his friend, you saw what even Caspian himself tried to hide. And as his lover... well—that part was long gone. But you remembered it. What it was like, having the pieces of him that reminded you of the Caspian that once was. Having the pieces of the King, who reminded you of who you kept falling for. Being trapped by.
Caspian won you back by saying Narnia would collapse without you.
Back then, a couple of years ago, he went into the woods in search of you after the fallout you two had and whispered the words you longed to hear for a long time. "I can't do this without you. Come back to me. You know it's different with us—you know... it's us."
“I’ll come back under one condition.”
“Anything.” The way Caspian uttered words changed after he became King. After power dripped off his shoulders as if his cloaks and clothes carried magic unknown by everyone else.
“It’ll be different. I’m not—your Consort.” The way you spit out the word carried your shame, the memories, and his taste. “Don’t turn me into one. Not again.”
Instead of nodding along, Caspian took his time before answering. He looked around your tent, looked you up and down as if searching for the answer in your body — as he had many times before — and then, after tense seconds of silence, he nodded, solemn. “I won’t.”
You knew the roundtable were still in talks to marry him to Ramandu’s daughter. Two years of absence and that was yet to change.
Caspian’s stubbornness was as iconic as his sword.
But if he would marry her—and he would, for there was no doubt about the best choice for Narnia’s King, then you would stay clear of his chambers.
“You’ll advise me. Go back to your place by my side.” He spoke in absolutes, and it made you remember that now, you had to look straight into his eyes when he spoke, and not the curve of his lips. Not the dark feathers surrounding his neck, or the secrets he hid in the corner of his mouth.
“So it is.”
Tumblr media
It lasted months.
Months of Caspian showing you how much he had changed — so much power, how could one being carry so much power within them — and yet, how much he was still the same. The sudden bursts of playfulness when the two of you were alone in the private gardens of the castle. The knowing looks and entire conversations he was able to carry with you over people’s heads in balls, meetings, encounters. All of that, and the sizzling, almost-alive energy that you two generated when you got too close.
That went nowhere.
“Where did you go?” He asked you in rose garden once. You two had practiced the shortsword together long enough to be dripping in sweat, so you sat under a willow tree and watched as Caspian laid his body by your feet, resting his head on his hand. “None of my soldiers could find you for too long.”
“Narnia is a big place,” you answered. Being difficult with him was a pastime you never grew out of.
Caspian rolled his eyes. “I’m happy your time away in mysterious place never robbed you of your difficultness.”
“How could it? I was born with it.”
Caspian smiled. One of those rare and gorgeous smiles. “I said that when I was a teenager. Will you ever let it go?”
“Never.” That memory was etched into you. Tattooed on the walls of your brain, along with the first kiss of his lips on yours that followed those words.
The air sizzled slightly, and you knew the topic etched too close to dangerous waters.
“And you—did you learn anything about battling with more than one weapon or are we done here?”
It was good enough of a distraction.
The battlefield became your only escapade. The only place you two could be near each other, close, touching, and the hitches on your breath or soft gasps that escaped your lips could be passed by something else other than it was.
A storm, brewing in the distance.
He’d promised you that he’d keep his distance. Caspian promised to respect your wished, but Caspian lied before.
Tumblr media
A few days after that, and he brings you back to where you were before running away.
Harvest festivals were a time of drunkenness, stupidity, accidents.
As his Counselor and one of his first Knights, it meant hours of boring work—being one of the few sober people in a castle full of drunks and high folks was not only tiresome, it was annoying.
When he comes to you offering a glass of — you check with your nose, humming along — absinthe, and his pipe, you think, at least this. At least a little bit of peace.
You two talk for a while. Hushed tones, poised faces. People pass by and greet, sometimes stopping to try and participate, but as always, they feel left out after a while. Nothing and no one can quite keep your pace—you and Caspian developed your own rhythm years ago, and that only worsened with the years.
When he asks to go up to the meeting room, it’s past the peak of night. It must be only a few hours before sunrise, and you think—’the guards can finish this’. So you go up.
Conversation about the trip to Poppy Fields is so good that you almost miss it.
His eyes on you, heavy and meaningful. The long sips he takes of his glass, and how his voice lowers.
When you do register, it’s because of proximity. You’re standing in front of his bookshelf, checking the new addition titles he acquired in your absence, and then, his presence covers your back like a dark cloud.
You shiver, breath hitching once again. Caspian’s close. Too close for a conversation, and the silence that comes with it makes it known for the both of you.
This proximity’s dangerous, and it makes a knot climb up your throat.
He’d promised.
Frozen, you stand there in silence, your words forgotten and the topic of the conversation unknown to you, carried away by the wind. All you can feel is how his chest is only a couple of inches away. He removed his cloak, leaving only his white blousy tucked in his pants, and know what he looks like without taking a glance back.
“You promised me.” It comes out as a sad, choked whisper.
He knows you’re too weak to ever want to push him away. “I did.” He sounds surprised. Not at breaking his promise, but that he did one in the first place. Caspian’s hands find your waist, and they might as well be balls of fire for the way they burn through your clothes, warming the skin under. “I tried.”
He had. Both of you had, you knew.
"I thought I could trust you." To try harder. To keep your promise.
Caspian chuckles at that, dark and low. His face inches closer, his lips ghosting over your ear in that way he knows makes you weak— "And whose fault is that?" With those words, he pulls your body flushed against his, and then brings his lips to your neck, leaving a wet trail of kisses that goes from under your ear to the column of your throat.
Caspian lied before, but never to you.
But then again, if you thought about it, he had promised long ago that he would never hide what he really feels for you. He promised that first.
You spin around in his arms when Caspian’s teeth sink against you, and bury your moan in his mouth, surrending entirely to the ocean of him and everything you missed. You’re shaking, hands trembling and chest panting, but so is he.
Neither of you will make past the table this first time, but this table had seen your naked body before, and it had seen its King falling apart by your hands.
This was your fault. And his. And you two were guilty, willingly, together. Over and over again.

cair paraval
caspian x reader / no pronouns used / not rq
warnings: a couple swears, physical touch (as in not 18+ but still), mention of the word 'dress' but you can interpret that as any type of dress really
summary: you decide to reminisce on a select few memories of the beach at cair paraval in your room, one morning.
genre: yes it is fluffy but there's some slow burn/yearning thing going on, allusion to a modern!au in narnia, although u can assume it’s the same
notes: cyberball comeback! *crickets* anyway this is my highest word count thus far. ben barnes is actually fatal cuz now I'm obsessed with a character from my CHILDHOOD who I completely forgot even existed. alas, here we are, because caspian is a very very close second to Leo valdez, and I'm head over heels for that man. all this is to say, this will probably not be the last caspian fic and who knows, maybe I'll figure sth out for peter n ed as well!!! anyway enjoy i hope u like it

11:45 AM
The spring breeze brushes against your face, and your eyes close in appreciation. From your balcony, the beach of Cair Paraval looks stunning; clear blue waters and a high tide to match. You let your thoughts linger on all the nights you’ve spent on said beach with a certain king of Narnia. You almost get up to try to find him, but you sit back down, realizing he must be busy. Your memories will have to sustain you for now.
4:23 AM – 1 month ago
Caspian’s hand came up to brush his hair out of his face for what seemed like the hundredth time that night – the sea breeze was relentless. You silently laughed at his efforts, as he leaned back into you, having given up on trying to tame his hair. His tall frame had somehow managed to sit snugly in between your legs, Caspian’s head resting on your chest. You were leaning against an enormous oak tree, the leaves swaying in tandem with the wind.
“Get up, you big goof,” you said, rolling your nightshirt’s sleeves up, determined to help him with his hair. He looked back at you for just a second before obeying your command. You loved his hair either way but you could tell it was annoying him right about now.
“What, you don’t like the unruly look my hair has taken on?” He asked, sitting up properly. You shook your head in amusement and looked away under his glance, pretending to look around for the clip you always kept on you, in case a predicament like this arose.
You gathered a little of his hair and tied it in place with the clip, letting a few pieces in the front fall out. The half-up-half-down look was his and your favorite.
He rested his head back onto your shoulder, looking ahead, the two of you still sitting. You had a ritual wherein you took one night each week to watch the sunrise. Now, even as the sun slowly woke up, the Narnian night sky glittered with tens of stars, and you wished you could look into his eyes. The black always reflected the light perfectly.
You two had been dating for about 2 weeks now. Caspian was your best friend and the person you trusted the most. Back when all you could think of on nights like these was your imagination of what it would feel like to have his lips against yours, looking into his eyes was a gesture far too intimate for two friends to share.
But now that it was a reality, you moved him off your shoulder and moved forward, so now you were facing him. On instinct, he picked you up by your thighs and placed you on his lap. Giggling, you took his stubble-covered face in your hands. After staring into your eyes for a length of time most people would find uncomfortable, he looked up at the sky. And there it was; the sky condensed into his eyes. He looked back up at you, and you couldn’t help but kiss him. You wondered how you ever lived without knowing the taste of his lips.
5:09 PM – 3 months ago
The sun filtered through your hair as you managed to push through it. It was setting, and the horizon looked particularly capturing today; pink and orange clouds shielding its light. Speaking of the sun, unbeknownst to you, yours had come up behind the spot you had claimed on the sand. Placing a kiss on your head – and consequently making butterflies fly around in your stomach – Caspian took the place next to you, as he often did.
More often, he’d only made rare appearances in your solitude, as the mantle of being king had taken its toll on his free time. You had found yourself reminiscing on the time when every other free second you both had, you would spend with each other. You would train together as well, and while that hadn’t necessarily stopped, he had significantly less time to do so. So you missed it, and you missed the close contact, where you could pass off the hitched breaths and stuttering glances as something other than what they were.
Caspian was your best friend. Nothing more, although you found yourself coveting the same. You don’t quite remember when it changed; when the way you looked at him turned from friendly appreciation to lingering on his smile. You felt that maybe he felt the same when he’d make you laugh and then drink in your reaction; when you showed him a new dress and his gaze lingered on you for far more time than was needed to look at the dress; when, a few days ago, you were playing with his hair, as you often did, and he unabashedly stared at your lips; and even now, when he kissed your head and instinctually rested his hand on yours. His thumb caressed your palm, and you had to physically restrain yourself from melting onto the beach.
At least then you could be washed away with the sea. You could feel his gaze on you. “What, idiot?” You asked him, not turning to look at him, a playful smile playing on your lips. “That’s no way to address your king,” he replied smoothly with a smirk of his own. You wanted to wipe it right off his stupid, pretty face.
As happy as you were with his presence next to you, you didn’t forget how your getaways to the beach were much frequent just you now instead of you both. “Sorry, Your Majesty,” you muttered sarcastically. You winced as his face fell at your tone, immediately regretting your words, knowing how he literally had no time for anything other than his duties. You couldn’t be mad at him for that. He beat you to the apology, “I am sorry. I know I have seen you less and less these past few weeks, and it’s not an excuse, merely a reason, but my work as king has taken up most if not all my time. Regardless, I could have made time for you. Aslan knows you’re much more important to me than anything else,” he spoke the last words under his breath, but you caught them.
You both had talked about this before – how much you meant to each other – but every time he brought it up, your heart beat just a little bit faster. “Cas, don’t be sorry. I know you’re busy and it’s selfish of me to be mad at you for that. I’m sorry,” you replied, looking away. “You’re not being selfish. You’re the least selfish person I know. You’ve done nothing wrong here,” he said softly, pushing your hair behind your ears. A hue of red dusted your cheeks at the gesture and you smiled up at him, “It’s okay, Cas,” you assured him and noticed his eyes crinkling at the nickname, “Just promise to meet me whenever you can,” you said, playing with his fingers. “Yes, I know, I will use all my free time on you. You don’t have to tell me twice,” he says, a glint in his eyes. You laughed amusedly, “You’re a good king, you know,” and he searched your eyes for any sign of a lie. He didn’t find it, even behind your teasing tone. “Just because I dedicated my free time to you?” he questioned and you pretended to think, “Hmm… yes.” Laughing
, you rested your head on his shoulder. You were happy to have him, even if your affections could only be as intimate as best friends.
2:58 AM – 2 months ago
You had just made a particularly hilarious joke, and Caspian had been laughing about it for what seemed like ages. “My god, calm down,” you managed to say through your own laughter, and he silently brought his forehead down to your shoulder, his own shoulders shaking from laughter.
After finally calming down, he said, “Never do that again,” a smile still brilliant on his face, despite the dim moonlight filtering through the clouds. “What, never make you laugh again?” you grinned, sucking your teeth, “sounds like a challenge to me. I’m too funny,” you joked, running your hand through your hair. Out of the corner of your eyes, you saw Caspian roll his eyes at you, and you wordlessly shoved him for it.
“That cloud looks like your hair in the morning,” you pointed out, gesturing to a cloud by the sea line. Caspian looked at you with an unamused face, “Ha-ha. Very funny,” he replied deadpan, but a grin eventually broke out on his face.
A long, comfortable silence stretched out between the two of you. You carefully rested your head on his shoulder and tried to take this for what it was: two friends enjoying each other’s company, and not letting your thoughts wander to a hope where maybe, someday, you could be more than that. Because it could never be. Caspian did a great job of reminding you of the fact when he piped up, “Today was sort of terrible,” and in response, you looked up at him through your lashes, beckoning him to continue. “The court is back at it with the marriage proposals and potential alliances,” he explained, and your heart dropped.
Oh. “Any of the potential matches interest you?” you questioned, silently hoping the answer was no. Regardless, you braced yourself for the impact, but he replied, very softly, might one add, “No,” and ran a hand through his hair. “Really?” you asked in an unamused tone, “none of them?” you were a tad bit eager to know his true feelings. So he pointed it out, “Desperate, are we? Why do you want to see me married off so quickly?” he asked, a smirk playing on his annoyingly pretty face. There was a sort of desperation in his eyes that you didn’t quite catch, however.
“Of course not, Your Highness,” you teased, “Curse me for wanting to see my king happy,” and rolled your eyes. “And anyway, it’s quite the opposite,” you muttered under your breath, sure that he wouldn’t hear it, but he did.
Fuck. He understood what you meant by it as well; he always did, and now he looked at you with something newfound in his eyes. Shit.
Silence. Why wasn’t he saying anything?
“That is the last thing that would make me happy,” he finally spoke, and you silently sent up a prayer to whichever god let him ignore whatever you had said.
“And what would?” you asked, a teasing tone in your voice, but you both knew you genuinely wanted to know. Were you a possibility?
He didn’t reply. You chuckled softly and slightly shoved him, “What? I asked you something,” you said, still giggling. Your laughter had brought a smile to his face and you wanted to evaporate.
He took one of your hands and started absentmindedly playing with your fingers, as he often did. “I just… it’s a little funny to me how many times I’ve asked you that same question and you’ve not responded,” he confessed, black eyes staring you down, and then moving away when you hesitated in responding. “We tell each other everything,” a pause, “Right?” he asked, and hundreds of unsaid feelings poured into the small gap between you two, which he was slowly but surely closing. All the while his hands were still on yours, and you wondered if this was it. The day you finally get to call him yours, or the day you part ways.
“Caspian…” was all you managed, a little choked. Had his face always been so close to yours? You swore you could feel the beat of his eyelashes on your face, which was no doubt painted deep red right about now. It didn’t matter, because so was his.
You never knew eyes could speak like this – albeit, Caspian’s had always been able to, but never to this degree – begging, desperation, and hope, all in just two pupils. You literally were choked now; words had left you. You always told him, in matters of romance, you would never be able to make the first move. He had always laughed at that, the irony of you being such a bold and fearless person, yet being afraid of showing vulnerability like this. Although he himself could never chide you about that; both of you knew his stubbornness, especially in affairs of the heart.
He was not a daft man. A little oblivious, sure, but he knew the way you looked at him. You hadn’t tried to hide it either; in some masochistic way, even though you had your doubts about his feelings, you still wore yours on your face. You regretted it sometimes, when if he ended up listening to his court one day, then you would feel like a fool for putting your heart out on the line.
But so had he. Later on, you would realize that you were much more oblivious than him. He had half the decency to never completely assume that you were interested in him romantically, but he knew you. And you knew him.
So it made sense now to you. His lingering glances, especially those on your lips; the forehead kisses, which he had started a long time ago before you thought of him this way – however, they had grown much more frequent and much less chaste; and, oh. The words he said to you just a couple of days ago, lounging in his bed, your head in his lap, when you had joked about him being in love with you, “I’m not going to deny it.” You knew when he was joking. This was not such an instance, even though, immediately after, he tried to play it off as such. You knew it. Why hadn’t you said something?
Your name fell from his lips now, once more, a silent plea.
His lips ghosted over yours once more. You closed your eyes briefly, as you did when in a predicament, and exhaled hard.
Caspian sent up a prayer to whichever god would take it and made to connect your lips. You met him halfway.
You remember the first kiss like the back of your hand. You just about whimpered when his taste reached your tongue; the taste of the chocolate you both had snuck just a few minutes earlier was fresh on his lips. His rather large hands steadied you by your waist, and you still felt like crumbling by his touch.
A few seconds later, you pulled away reluctantly, out of breath. His eyes slowly fluttered open and his face was redder than you had ever seen it. You grinned and pecked his lips once more, and he felt your smile on him. It wasn’t a feeling he thought he’d ever experience.
Giddy, he mirrored your smile and kissed you harder than the last time.
“I knew you had a thing for me,” you said, right after he pulled away, breathless and smiling. “I’m not going to deny it,” he gloated, and you rested your forehead on his shoulder, laughing.
You were going to deal with the court some other day. It was just you and him right now.
11:56 AM – Present time
“Enjoying the weather, my love?” Caspian’s voice sounds out as his arms wrap around your torso. You slightly crane your head to look at him, shamelessly staring at his frame; simple white button-up, black pants. A rather handsome look on him.
“Your pick-up lines have always been terrible,” you remark, turning your head back around, a smirk on your face.
“And yet you were just checking me out,” he shoots back, resting his chin on the top of your head. You roll your eyes in response. “Checkmate?” he teases.
“Whatever. You can hardly blame me when you look this good,” you respond smoothly, turning around to face him while raising a hand to play with the ends of his hair.
“Have you seen yourself?” he says comfortably. His hands are resting easy on your hips and his gaze is on you, focused like you hung the stars in the sky. He always looks at you like this.
You shake your head, silently laughing, and crane your head to look out at the waters. It’s true that no one loves the sea quite like Caspian does, but that’s the very reason you appreciate it. His eyes light up when he talks of his adventures and voyages. Interestingly enough, there have only been two instances when the joie de vivre shines in his eyes; once when he thinks of the sea, and twice when he thinks of you. You’ve noticed it. The thought gets you giddy each time.
There’s a comfortable silence between the two of you. He places a kiss on your head and leans down to kiss your lips. Every time he does, it feels like the first time. Your eyes flutter close, and you notice something more in the way his lips move against yours. A message.
And then you realize.
Three words.
He pulls away, exhaling softly. A pause.
“I love you,” he says, your name on his lips like it always belonged there.
You waste no time. “I love you too, Caspian,” and he grins.
You mean it. And Aslan knows he means it too.

Golden Masterlist
Prince Caspian x female!reader
[The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader]
Part II of Silver
Tumblr media
Plot overview: Three years after being crowned King and Queen of Narnia, the newly-wed rulers embark on an adventure over the unknown sea, where rumors of disappearing people and a mysterious green mist have shattered the once-peaceful waters. Only so many other surprises in their wake and difficulties will come for them, their reign, their trust, and their relationship. Thankfully, a couple of familiar faces won't let them face it alone.
Series warnings: female!reader, yet reader *still* has no name other than her alias (the Silver Knight, y'all, keeping it cringe), also queen of narnia for obvious reasons i guess, hehe. canon-typical violence, the fic follows the plot of the third movie (so if you haven't seen it don't come for me), cringy dialogue too, anything else i remember will be specified in each chapter ;)
A/N: you asked for this, and i delivered. hope you enjoy this. also, this moodboard has been in my drafts ever since silver ended. also, when i thought i was done writing, i kinda suffered a whole mental breakdown and decided to start again, so that's why it's taken me a WHOLE YEAR to bring this to u (pls don't hate me). I'm still baffled at all the love silver received, so let's make this one golden (I'm so good with puns omfg)

Mermaid Kisses
Prince/King Caspian x mermaid!reader
A/n: this is probably one of my least favorite works as I had no motivation to write it.
Warnings: mentions of cuts, bruises, and gashes.
Category: fluff
Word Count: 700-800
-
“{Name}?” Caspian stood at the edge of the shore. He brushed aside strands of his brunette hair as the winds blew against his tall frame. In his hand he gripped a single red rose. It wasn't the fanciest of gifts, but to you it was as valuable as a white-toothed cowry. Which is why he chose it to propose to you with.
"Caspian!" He heard you call out. He turned his gaze toward the sea. He was met with the sight of your figure swimming toward the shore. When you arrived, he prepared to speak but you cut him off.
“I have a surprise for you!” You flipped your fish-like tail excitedly. You reached into the pouch that was tied to your waist and began digging through the trinkets that were stored inside.
As he waited, Caspian noticed the various cuts and bruises on your wet skin. Among those wounds was a large gash on the side of your torso. Upon seeing this, Caspian dropped the rose in his grip and immediately knelt down in the sand beside you.
“You’re bleeding. Come here, let me help you.”
“No, no, it's fine!” You exclaimed as you continued searching through your pouch. A few seconds passed before you finally pulled out the object you desired. It was an iridescent pendant. It hung from a silver chain that seemed to have tarnished over time.
“I traveled to the most vicious depths of the sea for this.” You explained. “Come closer! Quickly!” You smiled with excitement.
Caspian leaned towards you. You wrapped the necklace around his neck and attached the clasp to the other end of the chain. When you were done, your hands didn’t move away from him, instead they rested on his shoulders.
“I appreciate the gift, but you are hurt. You mustn't put yourself in harm's way for me.”
“Caspian, I’m ok. I promise.” You placed a hand on his cheek, caressing his skin with your thumb. “Besides,” You started. “I wouldn’t dare depart from this life before we marry.” You smiled, chastly kissing his cheek. Caspians cheeks reddened and his heart raced at the thought of being wed to you. He hadn’t proposed to you, not yet. But tonight was the night.
Your hands lowered from his shoulders and grabbed his forearms.
“Now come, let me show you what this does.” You gestured to the pendant. You gently guided him toward the sea, until you were both submerged underwater. Caspian was not panicking, as he knew how to swim. But what did perplex him was the fact that he felt no need to hold his breath under the water, it almost felt natural to be there.
“It worked!” You exclaimed as you touched the gills that had formed on his neck. “Cas, try to talk.”
“Why?” His hand flew to his mouth as quickly as the words came out. “I- can talk. Underwater.”
“Yes!” You cheered, gently grabbing the sides of his face and placing a kiss on his lips. “And so much more! You can breathe down here now, that means you could come visit me more often!” You swam around him delighted at the fact that your love could now visit your home. “And not only that,” You dug into your pouch once more and pulled out a golden bracelet with a pendant similar to his. You wasted no time putting it on your own wrist. And when you did, your tale split in two and its color and texture changed to match your skin. You had legs.
Before you could celebrate you realized that you could no longer breathe nor talk. Caspian took notice of this as well and swiftly took you in his arms and swam to the surface. When your heads had come out of the water, you gasped for breath as you gripped Caspian tightly.
“As I was saying.” You grinned. “Not only can you visit me down under, I can visit you up above.” Your stare was trained on Caspian as you searched for any sign of happiness or excitement, but he seemed to be in deep thought. “Do you not like my gift?” You frowned.
Caspian’s gaze turned to you. “Of course I love it!” it was his turn to place a hand on your cheek. “I only wish I hadn't gotten something as dull as a rose to give to you.”
“You got me a rose?” You grinned. Caspian returned the gesture. Oh, how he loved your beautiful smile. After a few moments Caspian fell into deep thought once again. You waited, and he finally spoke.
“Will you marry me?”
