JK in Vogue - Baby Punk Candy
He's calling it punk rock but it's a heavily stylized & sanitized version.
Tumblr media
It's not really capturing the intense anti-establishment aggression of the British punk movement in the late 1970s.

Having said that this is definitely my favourite of the four Vogue concepts. He looks so young, so gorgeous and he's giving Jimin a run for his money in the cute stakes.

Kind of reminds me of this photoshoot.

But what are Vogue up to with the caption? Why use “And after all this, won't you give me a smile” from London Calling? That's just weird. Look at the full lyrics. This was a shout out against a collapsing society, impending nuclear and environmental apocalypse. The line about the smile is actually berating the establishment and those who chose to go along with it for sitting back and accepting societal disintegration without complaint or rebellion. But Vogue doesn't mean that it's just saying "won't you smile for me baby punk candy" which is just ugggghhhhh.

"Don't ask us to attend, 'cause we're not all there
Oh don't pretend 'cause I don't care
I don't believe illusions 'cause too much is real
So stop your cheap comment, 'cause we know what we feel"
