So it's Kai's turn to tell his side of the story, but first I'm gonna lay some world rules for the au.

Here ghosts can change into looking younger, the age they died at, or the appearance they would have if they were still alive, but not older. Bascically they chose how they age.

Morro decided to look like how he died at first but later on (when he met Kai) decided to change into a young adult appearance (mostly bc Kai alway changed his appearance to 'age' as if he were still alive and Morro wanted to support him)

With that on mind here goes Kai's storyline:

So he died and went into the Departed Realm, which caused him to obviously start to panic

Another ghost finds him and takes him to the Preminent, who takes an interest in Kai due to his elemental powers, like the ones Morro has. The Preminent introduces Kai to Morro and tells Morro to train him. Kai at this point is very confused and tired, and Morro now having to take care of a child is very not happy

Their relationship is very strained and just formal until in one training session Kai makes fire, is very little and very quick to go out since he hasn't reached his full potential, but instead of being happy Kai starts to cry and Morro very panicked asks what's wrong, Kai says that if he had been able to control it while he was alive he would've been able to protect himself and his sister to which he starts to cry harder bc he misses Nya

That's when Morro decides that maybe he can focus on 1 person other than himself, he tells Kai he wanted to be strong too, but that destiny took his life away from him just like it did with Kai (projectint a bit too much Morro)

They bond and start having a more close relationship. Morro starts telling Kai stories about when he was alive (The Green Ninja, the master that had wronged him, his journey). Kai, still being a kid is 100% sure Morro should've been the green ninja, and Morro doesn't contradict, so he decides that whoever is the green ninja in the living world is inferior to Morro in every way.

Basically all pre-pilot is: Morro adopts Kai

• Pilot:

He is pretty much dead so he doesn't do much. Until. He feels something, is like a switch turned on and now he can't stop feeling dread. Nya is in danger, he can't do anything, he's dead!

But he is in the living world, he sees Nya, and skelentons, and Garmadon- (Garmadon?!). Kai is pretty much panicking and something tells hin to grap the sword and toss it to Nya. He dissapears again

The Preminent is impressed bc, how did a child just defied the realms and their barriers because his sister was in danger?

Morro is happy, but not so happy since now his student is surpasing him.. that wasn't fair

• Rise of the Serpentine:

In the Departed Realm rn it's just training arc. But with the exception that Morro is being distant with Kai.

Kai is confused and ultimately thinks it's because he could only 'go' to the living world once and never again, that Morro is dissapointed in him, he starts training harder and harder, trying to be more, but he can't, he's fire, sure it can burn high, but at the end of the day it's just fire, and water can always put it out. To which he comes back to the irony of being a freaking ghost and only can be re-killed by water. He hates being a ghost

This conflict goes to it's climax when Morro says he'll stop teaching Kai (mostly to distance himself) to which Kai is very much not happy. This evolves to a very nasty fight with Kai asking his teacher why does he want to leave, the kid asks if he wasn't good enough? ("Why can't I be the green Ninja?!") Did he didn't train enough? ("I've done all you've told me!") Didn't he do enough?! ("Why did you lie to me Wu?!")

And Morro snaps out of it, he hugs Kai and tells him that he is good enough, strong enough, that he would never leave and that Kai doesn't need to be anything else

And Kai unoocks his true potential, bringing warm to an otherwise cold and dark realm

• Legacy of the Green Ninja, Rebooted, Tournament of Elements

Training and nothing else. Also bonding

Morro, while still fixed on being the green ninja and getting revenge against Wu, is now finding that there is more to life (death in his case) than he thought, and maybe just like Kai, he is good enough already. Kai accepted his existence as a ghost, thinking that the only way of seeing Nya is either if she dies (smth that Kai is very much opposed to) or if the Preminent's plan suceeds

So life (death) is relatively good

That is until Garmadon arrives, he is chained up and brought into a chamber.

Morro just does an evil facade until Kai arrives and asks for Nya, Garmadon is very calm and asks why would he want to know, Kai explains he is his brother to which Garmadon just blinks, 1,2,3. This kid- this ghost. Is Nya's brother? The one that ran away?

And just like Morro, apparently, he met the same fate

Garmadon refuses to answer any questions, to which he surprisingly encounters a very angry Morro ready to beat the shit out of him and a very dissapointed and sad Kai

Kai leaves bowing to Garmadon and thanks him for his time, now Morro and Garmadon alone the ghost threathens to kill him for good if he hurts his kid again and- his kid?

Garmadon says that maybe there is still hope for Morro, to which the ghost refuses and leaves as well.

• Possesion:

Now in this au the Preminet managed to keep a little whole open from the portal Garmadon made for a little period of time while she told Morro what to do

They talk a little before Morro goes, Kai seeing his Sensei/Father figure a little down and uncertain about the mission, Morro's head is just racing.

Possesing the green ninja? Okay

Possesing a kid? No

Possesing a kid that's the green ninja? Uh

And to makes matters worse he can only think of Kai, he didn't want Kai to see him doing this, possesing took a lot of energy from both the ghost and the host, which caused a lot of stress and made the one in control often lash out (and he'd be damned if he lashes out at his kid)

He doesn't want to do this

And oh this is when he finally realises that he's on the wrong side of things. But it's great since he hasn't done anything yet right?

Well you see there is a reason he didn't want to get attached to anyone, it wasn't just for the aesthetic, getting attached to people means you care if they're okay or not, it means someone can use them against you

So the Preminent before sending him off threatens to hurt Kai anything were to go wrong. And thus Morro leaves

What he not expected was that the kid he wanted to protect ended up following him and saw him do all that

Now Kai already had his doubts about the Preminent, he wasn't 100% onboard with the plan but this, seeing it just made him sick

He tried reaching Morro before he could leave, but he was late, he followed the ninja into the bounty and begged for their help

All he saw after was a very angry Nya ready to splash him with a shit ton of water

i don't know what to say. im a firm believer of the "there's someone for anybody" type of thing, by which i don't mean that everyone will find love (im not that naive and i for one think it will never happen to me), but that anybody could be found attractive by at least a few people, considering how diverse tastes seem to be all over humanity, that our traumas subconsciously attract some specific types of people, people project all the time etc.

I have a new au! Because if canon will not, I will.

In this au, the cursed realm soldiers, once they die, wreak havoc on the peaceful life of the departed realm. The preeminent, instead of controlling her army, attempts to enact revenge, and chases Morro through the realm. While running, Morro meets Sensei Garmadon, and the two bond on the run, until Morro watched as Garmadon is resurrected. After his little redemption arc from hanging out with Sensei, Morro takes on the preminent, and traps her in a magic cell. Then, he rounds up all the cursed realm ghosts, gaining the respect of the afterlife’s population, and is crowned as emperor. As he gains power, he sets up an advisory board, which includes notably Mystake and Yang. Later, when Harumi dies, he offers her a position in the council, but she refuses, instead choosing the council of the crystal king back in the realm of the living.

30. amity

As Aymeric stared up at the enormous, one-eyed form of Vrtra, satrap of Radz-at-Han and youngest of the First Brood, he found himself momentarily speechless at the very concept. Only a few short years ago, Ishgard’s borders had been closed, and he would have been dead at the bottom of Witchdrop for even considering the possibility of international amity with a nation ruled by a Fury-forsaken dragon.

But Vrtra had ruled Thavnair fairly and well for centuries, had personally given the scales that had shielded his men from tempering in Garlemald and elsewhere – the large swath of exposed flesh on his side was reminder enough of that. And then for him to invite the leader of a city known for its skills in the slaughter of Vrtra’s kind while thus weakened – it went against every single tenet by which he had been raised and lived most of his adult life.

However, he had become accustomed to rapid change, oft heralded by the two women who sat at the nearby table, chatting quietly. Recovering his wits, Aymeric bent in a bow. “Thank you for the invitation, satrap Vrtra. It is a pleasure to meet you.”

A deep, rumbling voice issued forth from the wyrm, but in the common tongue rather than the dragonspeak his elder brothers had favored, “You are welcome on Thavnair’s shores, Lord Speaker. Sit, and take your ease.”

“If we have to start standing on ceremony, I’m going to go eat in my room. Leave the damned politics in Ishgard,” Estinien grumbled, off to his left.

Aymeric tipped his head at the former preminent dragonslayer of Etheirys as he took the seat next to him, smiling faintly. “You say that, but the longer you stay here, the longer I’m tempted to make you an official ambassador between Ishgard and Radz-at-Han. You are rather uniquely suited for it, after all.”

Grey eyes narrowed and pinned him with a glare. “Don’t. I haven’t your talent for speeches, nor your taste for rubbing elbows with important people.”

Character(s): Kien Eilath, Ranald Eilath, kind of? Cw: None Word count: 639 Notes: ngl I struggled with this one a bit so it’s more of a hc than a drabble. I guess this is more so my personal hc with Meracydia and my plead to the devs that I really want to go there dang it (7.0 maybe? /pleading face/)

Meracydia was an unforgiving land. Half its population was recluse and uncivilized to the outside eye but to the bravest traders and merchants, Meracydia was a land full of people who knew how to survive in the worst of conditions. It was admirable, to say the least. But that still didn't give reason to deter from the true nature of its land and its people--One wrong move could cost you your life. 

Ranald had always wondered what had gotten into him when he decided to one day up and travel to the southern continent. The seas were filled with foul and blood thirsty creatures so sailing by traditional boat was out of the question, at least for him. Airship was tricky too however, because there was always a risk of a native shooting you down if you got too close to a territory and too far from the shores where trade was allowed universally. 

As a former pirate, Ranald had dealt with fair share of barbarity and when he fell on hard times after the calamity and the death of his only son, he supposed desperate times called for desperate measures. 

He learned all he could from the fellow merchants who had traveled to the wasteland before. Make sure you land in the designated trade zone. Wait for a native to make contact with you. Let them speak first about what they have to offer and what they want in return, unless they ask you first. They’re more likely not going to know common Eorzean so it’s best to practice the basics of Meracydian language to get by. And most importantly, don’t overstay your welcome. 

So many rules would leave anyone reeling but Ranald was willing to take on the challenge. He expected to go alone, but was mildly surprised when two of his friends offered to tag along. Safety in numbers they had told him but he was sure they were just as curious to see the wasteland just as much. And what a wasteland it was. 

A yellow sky due to a preminent haze. The air was heavy and humid and while it never rained when they were there, they had to take shelter from dry thunderstorms at least twice. The ground was cracked and dry–it was a small wonder how certain plants seemed to thrive just fine and the water lapping the shores didn’t seem drinkable…how did these recluse tribes continue to survive? The biggest wonder of all was the remains of what used to be the Allagan’s all around the shore–Ranald was sure if he was brave enough to venture further, he’d find a lot more. But no, he had to play it safe and stick to the rules. 

His first visit to Meracydia would be his only visit. Mainly because he never expected to take in a young Miqo’te and raise him as his own. He seemed to have broken every rule in place for traders and natives, but that was due to his own desperate attempt to start a new life. He reminded him so much of his late son, it almost felt as if it was meant to be. The following two years of Kien being in his care before becoming a traveling merchant again, (as Kien became an adventurer at age 18) he would often hear tales of what life was like for him in the wasteland and for the Hyur, that was enough to quell his curiosity to ever return. He felt complete again now that he had someone to look after. 

Again, Ranald was unsure what came over him to visit Meracyia, even more so to agree for this 16-year-old kid to travel back to Eorzea with him but looking back, he was grateful for that fateful day and he was certainly glad he took that chance.

Squids specifically Firefly Squids are known to have this.

The pre-eminent is a tentacled eldritch horror

The Original asker mentioned Misako and the Original specter slayers getting exposed to ectoplasm and gaining powers from it

Since Misako got the most exposure due to the Preminent and may have stolen her right to rule over the Cursed Realm unknowingly

Misako glowing like a squid whenever it’s dark enough or ghosts are nearby

[The ninja and Misako are equipped with proton packs, they are searching the museum for a potentially sighted ghost attempting to steal artifacts. Misako has her old jumpsuit on and is trying to sense the ghosts.

Misako: Oh yeah there’s a ghost here.

Kai: Really how can you tell?

Misako: My hair it just floats up and apparently I glow.

[Misako’s braid has risen up and come undone. Now her hair floats every which way upwards. Her skin also has a light tinge of glowing green.]

Zane: I now see where Lloyd gets his glowing good lucks.

[Misako starts to giggle but presses onward.]

Misako: I needed that.

[Morro and the ghosts appear. Three of them begin possessing the Garmadon, Samukai, and Kozu displays. The ninja ready their proton packs aiming at the now moving displays. Misako takes out her vengestone Katana and glares with glowing eyes.]

Misako: Evil Spirits, your time on this plain are long past! Surrender now and I shall offer you final rites so that you may rest in peace at last. If not I shall have to use force!

“Samukai”: No…

“Kozu”: Our Queen demands her claim to this realm and as her loyal retainers it is our duty.

Garmadon: I’m sorry wife but I must do this. I serve a higher purpose now and that is the Preeminent!

Morro: Oh what’s wrong Auntie, I thought you’d be happy to see your hubby and son!

Misako: DON’T YOU DARE USE THEIR VOICES AND FORMS! BASTARDS!

[The ninja shoot the Samukai and Kozu models and hold the ghosts down. Nya throws the trap and it begins to capture the ghosts possessing Kozu and Samukai’s mannequins. But Misako is engaged in a duel with Morro while the ghost of Garmadon watches nervously.]

Morro: Wow auntie your age is showing! What are you eighty now?

Misako: I’M FOURTY BRAT!

[The ninja are able to finally catch up to the duel between Morro and Misako. They watch as the ghost of Garmadon stares sadly at the scene. Misako seems to gain the upper hand until Morro flies up to avoid her sword strike.]

Morro: Help me uncle, we need to retreat!

[Garmadon nods and flies up grabbing Morro, the uncle nephew duo disappear. With an apology from Garmadon being the only evidence left that they were there.]

Garmadon: Goodbye my love….

[Misako kneels down and stares sadly at the knocked over Garmadon manaquin. She cradles it’s severed head and begins to cry with the ninja watching on.]

Misako: My Son and Husband are gone now. The Specter Slayers long disbanded. Why do I always lose the people I LOVE?!? It’s not fair! When I get my hands on that Tentacunt, oh it’s gonna get ugly!

1, is Morro supposed to be Misako's son or nephew? You used both terms.
