talking about the bad decisions i make when overstimulated in therapy rn, and i already wanna write a thing into my story where neurodivergent ppl are easier to hypnotize not bc they're "more pliable" or "easier to manipulate" but bc the hypnosis spell tends to cause overstimulation in victims when it's first cast and the villains are just assholes who take advantage of that

I have absolutely no idea what any of my characters would be doing in a 2024 AU except:
A) Stelle would be a streamer, for some reason
B) Stelle would also log into Koto's Twitter account just to post this:
Tumblr media
(Context: Koto actually worked for the Olympian Secret Service for a few years, so she would literally hack her GF's Twitter literally just to make a retired Secret Service agent say silly things pertaining to her past job and then dip out.)

me, five years ago, rewriting a character i made in high school: yanderes are kinda based on some bad mental health stereotypes, so i'm just gonna make kaine a villainous girlfriend-type instead. she still hates valka, but at least it'll be because valka's trying to take her fiance out of power so he can answer for his crimes and shit. a perfectly valid lore reason that isn't based on them liking the same guy!
me now, listening to the new olivia rodrigo singles and realizing that kaine was not only cloned from the lady the manufacturer really likes but he also used to be married to a literal president, meaning there's no way kaine can't be fucked-up in the head from comparing herself to all the past women in his life: i take back everything i said before. please, for the love of all things holy, kaine, bring your yandere side back for just long enough to assassinate your trash fiance. comparison will kill you and you know he's gonna the minute he gets tired of you, so why not get ahead of the game?

one of my personal writing weaknesses is that a lot of the characters i design accidentally resemble male characters that were released after the final design is done
i have a girl with green hair and freckles and one with blonde hair and scars and i dread drawing them for fear someone will tag them as "fem midoriya" and "fem hunter toh" respectively, lol

what vibes does premiere nebula give off to you?
i'm trying to pitch it to an agent right now and these are the comparative titles i have rn:
sailor moon
pmmm (directly inspired pn!)
revolutionary girl utena
black widow (bc of the whole kidnapping women for assassin work shit)
these may be good comparative titles but their similarities to pn are more tangential (so idk if they'll work)
gideon the ninth (fantasy genrebending shit with two female protags who are kinda sorta codependent on each other)
the owl house (latina protag learns magic and befriends another magic user with a curse who's being pursued by an outside party, tho val is being pursued by a gang/mafia type group instead of the actual government)

(both outcomes involve koto being near death's door and both outcomes involve stelle being absolutely mentally crushed by the decision. there is no other choice. you have to face your worst nightmare before being reunited forever. that's just the tragedy of being magical lesbians sometimes.)

fun fact: at least 75% of the reason why my lightning-themed magical girl oc is named omega is because i thought a rainbow shaped like the omega symbol would be a really cute character symbol/oshimark and no amount of abo jokes about her name will change that

by far the funniest part about writing exchanges between teenagers and ppl in their mid-twenties in my wip is seeing the teenager threaten to quit her well-paying fantasy bodyguard part-time job bc they're making her (temporarily) room with someone she doesn't like while her slightly older aunt is trying to figure out how to politely tell her niece that 'not like other girls' high school bullshit is not a good reason to leave your job and dying slightly inside

i was about to start drawing my owl house sona in honor of me going to the official cafe this week before realizing my magical girl protag omega's birthday is this week (valentine's day!) and i've also been wanting to draw her in precure innocent form so that means i'd wanna try for drawing two pieces in one week

writing urban fantasy is great bc you wonder about things like "if i'm in the midst of a grand battle and one of my comrades suddenly goes into cardiac arrest and I can't reach the defibrillator without the enemy attacking me first, would using my magic to teleport them to the nearest hospital cause unnecessary strain to their heart and worsen their condition"
only for every single friend you have in the medical field who might be able to help you with this question to respond, without fail, "why were you thinking about that in the shower"

current mood: having a terrible migraine and thinking that "rebound headache" would be a good name for a romance novel but i suck at writing purely romantic stories
my mom's response to this was to say that she loved the title so much that she didn't even want it to necessarily be a romance, saying she thought it would be more interesting as a short story within my actress mythos about (her words exactly) "a frenemy who keeps coming back even when the bridge has been burnt"
in other words, she basically just requested a vanessa and phea novella without even knowing those two used to be friends
after further explanation, my mom is fully on team vanessa's redemption arc and if vanessa ever ends up officially becoming the tenth nebula member, know that it'll be entirely her fault, lol

if i had a nickel for every time i wrote a complex, traumatized female oc from a disgraced family whose name could be shortened to "val," i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

the worst feeling is when you go into a wip with the exact purpose of subverting a common fandom trope (let's have the magical girl leader get together with someone else in her group instead of her partner/the other mc!) only to find that, after five years of actually writing the dang thing, you begin to realize why the trope works (you start shipping the two leads in spite of the clicheness of it all)

the problem with naming a character something that's only a few letters away from a tumblr discourse word is that when you've spent a little too long online, your autocorrect automatically changes "nuage" to "nuance" and vice versa if you've been infodumping about your wip to your mutuals instead of media literacyposting
(tho, to be fair, nuage is my requisite reformed magical girl villain character, so correcting her name to nuance isn't really wrong, either)

can anyone rec me any good '90s style anime artists taking commissions? i wanted to get some retro magical girl-style reference art done for my mg series premiere nebula, but i haven't been able to get in contact with the person i originally intended on commissioning?
also, for followers who keep up on my pn stuff, should i just keep the pic to omega and valka? they are the mains, and i am getting more interested in shipping them lately (so a joint transformation pic seems natural), but it feels weird to have them doing their thing without io. if i wanna potentially use it (with credit) to pitch the series, it'd make sense to just have the mcs in it but...hmmm...
