#pregnant roy mustang
Note
Please may I have a Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood scenario of when you (Maes Hughes sister *same age as Roy and she is Roy's wife and everything and she is currently pregnant with his son and she is a skilled sniper and yeah..she is the wife of a flame alchemist*) were insistent on Roy taking a break when the poor man was on the verge of collapse. You received a call from your worried brother when you were at the hospital having your pregnancy bump checked and you saw for yourself when Edward told you that Roy wasn't feeling all sunshine and rainbows..it was obvious that your poor husband had taken ill and you were absolutely stern when you told him to go home and sleep in a tone that meant "do it or else"..Roy was insistent when he said he was fine but he was not fine and it was clear to everyone else too..when they all told him to listen to his wife (you)..the Elric brothers had to help him home considering that you wouldn't be able to help him not in your condition. You called Roy a numpty for going to work despite he was ill today once he was in bed..
Hi! Thank you for your request! Sorry it took so long. I hope you like the scenario!

“Uh huh. Yeah. No, I know what he’s like. Yep. I’ll be there soon, don’t let him out of your sight. Bye.”
With every word you spoke into the phone the nurse standing near you grew paler and backed away. You could only guess at the expression on your face.
That damned husband of yours.
“I’m sorry. I’ve got to go. Is that all we need to do for today or do I need to book another appointment?”
The nurse recovered from her stunned state and shook her head. “Everything’s okay. Both you and the baby are doing well. We’ll see you again next month for your next check up.”
You gathered your belongings and stood up from your chair. “Thank you. I’ll see you then.”
As you left the building all you could think about was the conversation you had just had over the phone.
It had been your brother, Maes. And of course, knowing your brother, you expected him to be calling just to rant about his lovely Elicia.
So when you had answered the phone, it had come as a surprise.
~
“Hey sis! How’d the appointment go? All good?”
You smiled tiredly. Your brother was always so energetic. “Yes, Maes, all good. But I’m still in the appointment so unless it’s urgent, I’ll have to go.”
“Well actually…” he paused, “it is a bit urgent.”
You frowned. That was a more serious tone than you’d heard your brother use in quite a while. Maybe this wasn’t your average “my beautiful Elicia counted to ten today, she’s so smart” call.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s Roy. He’s overworking himself again.”
You sighed. “That’s my husband. I’m guessing he’s not listening to anyone there?”
“You know him. Figured it was best if you came here to drag him home yourself.”
Another sigh on your part. “I’ll be there in a bit. Keep an eye on him and don’t let him out of your sight.”
“Right on. See you soon sis.”
~
As you strode through the halls of the base, you felt a presence fall into step beside you.
“Hello ma’am. Are you Mustang’s wife?”
You turned to look at the figure next to you. It was Edward Elric. Looking behind you, you saw his younger brother Alphonse. It was surprising how quietly he was able to move despite the large metal suit of armour.
You mostly knew the boy through Roy since, whether your husband wanted to admit it or not, he had basically adopted the Elric brothers following the incident that had taken place at their home a few years ago. Roy had been sparse on details but you’d heard rumours of human transmutation. You didn’t pry any further after that.
You’d see the Elrics around the base a few times and had certainly heard Ed and Roy yelling at each other on occasion. But beyond a few quick greetings in the halls, you hadn’t really had a lot to do with them.
“Yes, that’s me. And you’re the Fullmetal Alchemist aren’t you? To what do I owe the pleasure? Everything alright?”
The boy seemed to be fighting with himself, unsure of what to say. “It’s Mustang. He’s overworking himself and normally, I wouldn’t give a-” he paused and cleared his throat, “I mean, normally I wouldn’t be worried but he’s going to make himself sick if he doesn’t have a break.”
You sighed. “That’s my husband. My brother - you know him, Maes Hughes - called me earlier. I’m here to take him home to rest.” You frowned, “Is he that bad?”
“He’s certainly not feeling sunshine and rainbows at the moment. I think if he keeps working much longer he’s going to get sick.”
Of course he would work himself to the point of collapse when you weren’t around.
“Thank you for letting me know. I’ll be sure to give him a piece of my mind.”
For the first time, Edward grinned. “This, I’ve got to see.”
You had both reached the door to your husband’s office. You didn’t bother with the courtesy of knocking. Instead, you swung the door open, shifting your face into a firm look of fury and subtle disappointment.
“Roy.”
The man looked up from his desk, scrambling to make himself look presentable. But nothing count hide the dark circles under his eyes and the invisible weight on his shoulders.
“Hey sis! How are you and the little one doing?”
You turned to your brother, your face morphing into a smile. “Doing well.”
You looked around at the others in the room. Havoc, Hawkeye, Fuery, Falman, Breda. All people you knew well. All people who were completely loyal to your husband. All people he was ignoring at present.
“The baby’s as strong as ever. But I hear it’s father…” you turned your gaze back to Roy, “isn’t the same.”
Roy shook his head despite the resounding responses to the positive from around the room. “I’m fine dear. Really. No need to worry.”
“Oh don’t give me that. I can see it from a mile away. You, mister, need to go home and rest. Maes told me you’re overworking yourself. Even Edward told me he’s concerned about your wellbeing.”
Spluttering from behind you. “Now hang on, I never said-”
“Brother, don’t deny it. You were worried.”
You walked over to Roy’s desk. “We’re going home.”
“I’m fine hones-”
“Sir. With all due respect. Listen to your wife. Go home and rest. We can handle things here.” You gazed gratefully at Hawkeye who smiled back.
Roy opened his mouth as if to protest again but you interrupted before he had the chance. “Roy. Don’t be a numpty. Let’s go.”
He closed his mouth and exhaled through his nose. “Alright. You win. Let’s go.”
He raised himself from his chair and swayed dramatically. Edward and Alphonse rushed over. “Come on Colonel. We’ll help.” From the teasing glint in Edward’s eyes, you guessed his offer of help was in part due to genuine concern but mostly due to the fact that he could use the situation to tease your husband in the future.
As the Elrics helped Roy out the door, you waved a farewell to the others. “Thank you for looking after him until I got here. He’ll be back once he’s feeling better.”
Assorted farewells followed you out the door.
“When we get home, you’re going to bed and resting, alright?” Your tone brooked no argument and, despite everything, Roy smiled teasingly.
“Yes ma’am. You got it.”
His smile grew softer and a warm look filled his gaze.
“You’re going to be a great parent.”

Why I prefer FMA03 over Brotherhood.
Simply: How they treat the characters.
Tumblr media
I notice liking the character interactions much more in the first show. I found myself remembering Team mustang more in 03 than BH because they were kind of a goon squad. Yes, the tone of BH is more serious. But say Heyman or Havoc died, I wouldn't have cared as much. I can buy 'these guys are friends more in 03 because we see them goofing around and acting like friends more in 03.
We see Ed start out respecting Mustang in earlier episodes. A kid looking up to this military leader and wanting to impress him. Then realizing he's kind of a prick and letting egos clash.
Brotherhood drops in with the two already disliking each other. This isn't a bad thing, but I'm definitely more invested after seeing how Ed & Roy got to that point in their relationship. Furthermore, 03-Roy gets points for never putting his hands on Ed/a kid as BH-Roy does.
Tumblr media
Maes is introduced as Roy's friend calling him up to talk about his pregnant wife. From there, we see him as a skilled knife user, a new dad, a surrogate uncle figure to Ed & Al, the nerdy guy in the office that everyone is mildly annoyed by, and the right-hand man to Roy. All of this is over season 1. With his death closing out the season. The last image before the credits roll is Ed seeing his ghost.
BH tries to cram a lot of this in 10 episodes. That's nowhere near enough time for me to feel connected to this side character. He's been an overprotective dad, the nerdy guy in the office, and we see him use a knife 1 time in 1 scene. BH does better with giving his death closer (Roy vs Envy), but I didn't really care about Maes before they fridged him for Roy's development.
Nina is the same way to Ed & Al. In 03, I can buy that the Elrics saw her as a little sister because we see them interact much more across multiple episodes. In BH, it's all 1 episode.
Tumblr media
Paninya & Wirny's discussion in 03 feels more earned. The two talk about automail and how they view it all while Winry fixes her arm. This is after Ed scams a scammer that broke Paninya's automail. So while I do side with Ed on a personal level, I can understand where Winry's anger/disappointment is coming from in this episode. Also, this gives Paninya a chance to show her parkour skills under less 'happily committing a felony' reasons. If Paninya & Winry met again in 03, I'd be excited to see what else the two had to say or get into.
In BH, Paninya is just a thief who steals Ed's watch. Winry tells her to stop stealing and...she agrees. That's it. A 30-second speech was all it took. It's one of the most rushed scenes I've seen in any show and I genuinely hate it.
Tumblr media
Scar is the second biggest contrast I've seen of characters who're in both shows. Third, is Sheska whos a full character in 03 but is in 2 episodes in BH. The first is the next example I give after this one.
Anyway, Scar in 03 I absolutely can get behind. 03 as a show does everything to show the horrors of Ishval. From Roy & Alex's PTSD. To casual racism background characters have for Ishvalans. We see more Ishvalan characters outside of Scar so we have a fuller picture. He starts out as this guy cursed with the arm and just looking for answers. Falling back to religion at times and becoming calculated in his vengeance. Going from 'what do I do?' to leading a caravan saying 'here's what I need you to do'. He legitimately could've been the main character in his own story.
BH Scar is willing to throw down with a 12-year-old from the get-go. At times, it feels like he fights what the plot puts in front of him rather than seeking out a goal. I can buy this guy working with the military at the end of the show since 'the world is at stake'. But, just barely.
Tumblr media
The homunculi in 03 are humans that were brought back via alchemy. So, each of them can be killed if they're close to something from when they are alive. A body part, cloth, etc. It's much more personal when Izumi sees what would've been her biological kid joining the bad guys. Ed has to dig up the grave of his mom so he can defeat Sloth. It's so heavy and is one of my favorite moments in 03 with the colors of the sunset overshadowing Ed's face as he finds what he needs. It also makes the homunculi a threat with a weakness that ties into their origin. Manipulated by a villain who wants to live forever.
Meanwhile, in BH, the Homunculi are still interesting characters (except for Sloth). But they're just henchmen created for 1 immortal. With a weakness of:
"I figured it out. We just need to punch them really, really hard." - TFS Piccolo
I could keep going with more examples, but I feel as though that could come across as me 'hating' BH. Which I don't. I love both versions. But when I see 'Bh is better because it follows the manga', that means jack to me. Just because something is a more faithful adaptation, doesn't mean it's a better overall product.

Royai week 2023 fic recs
In honor of Royai week in the Fruits & Roots server, I chose to highlight some of my favorite Royai fics I gathered these past years (not many years, since I've been on AO3 for 2 years and a half only). Each day, I'll recommend a few fics in a particular setting
Day 7: Happy Royai Day! Free for all - On-going fics
To end this series of fanfic recs, here is a list of a few on-going fanfictions that I love and think about sometimes. Go give them some love, because they all deserve it! And don't hesitate to comment, because you know what? Comments are the writer's fuel
Another point: this post is not here for you to pressure the authors to update their fics, but to give you things to give love to!
one single thread of gold tied me to you by fullmetallizard
Roy is a single father who is carrying a torch (terrible pun for the flame alchemist, I know) for his best friend, Riza Hawkeye. Is she carrying a torch of her own? Yes. Will they get together as a cute little modge podge family? Proabably.
One of my earliest bookmarks, it's fluffy, it's so good!
to heal by priscilladm, vadeofspades / @priscilla-dm @mayfieldarc
In the aftermath of the Promised Day, Roy Mustang ponders two things: how to ensure the wellbeing of Riza Hawkeye, and how to follow through on an offer made to him by the Xingese princess who saved Riza's life.
I love this one a lot!
Humanity hangs on a blood-iron cross by blackinkpen / @blackinkpen
Berthold Hawkeye built the first jaeger, an uncontrollable nuclear heart meant to take out the seven Kaiju. Alone, brutal—the first and last of the pilots to try maneuvering the giants on their own. Sins, they were named, coming in waves... Lust and Envy, Gluttony, with its bulging stomach and Pride, faster than the rest of them. Sloth slumbered until near the end, taking down three Jaegers at once... but we're not here to talk about them. Not yet, anyways. Berthold's work is commandeered by the military. Iron Prophet, the first of the Jaegers to rise, and the first to fall. A monster slices right through his heart, sending nuclear clouds shattering across the sky. Berthold makes it through that day... but not many more, as he hides the cough and blood and pain from radiation poisoning. Years later, Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye pilot his final work.
FMAxPacRim? I say yes! Filled with angst but also hope, I keep this fic close to my heart

Roy doesn’t care. - or the college au where Roy is still a pain in the ass, a thorn in the flesh and the bane of Riza's existence
Does it show that there's authors I love? And their fics as well?

Can we get some more Mustang Family AU, specifically can Roy and Riza have more kids? They can adopt more or have biological children but I think it would be cute. 🥰
Ope here we go!

Little Rosemarie squeals as she's scooped up into her oldest brother's arms. Ed brings her up and blows a raspberry into her belly, startling a loud, happy laugh out of her, and where she and Roy sit on the steps of the newly rebuilt Elric home, Riza leans into her husband and smiles.
Riza can't lie; she was shocked when she realized she was pregnant a few weeks after they were informed of their first grandchild's imminent arrival. She and Roy weren't exactly trying, after all, and she never really entertained the thought of carrying a child of her own. She had Edward and Alphonse, and those boys were more than enough for her.
But then Rosemarie was born, with her red cheeks and her black hair, and Riza and Roy were instantly in love with their little girl, and so did her older brothers.
(Edward rushed to Central as soon as he felt comfortable leaving Engel with Winry and Ling, and he melted when his new little sister was put into his arms. "She's perfect," he told Riza, tears pooling in his eyes. "Absolutely perfect. Al's gonna love her."
Riza took a photograph of Edward holding her and sent it to Alphonse in her next letter to Xing. Alphonse wrote back immediately and promised to bring May for a visit as soon as they could get away from court.)
Now, three years later, Riza thinks her life couldn't be any more perfect. It's the extended family's annual cookout. Alphonse and Mei are visiting with their new baby, a little prince named Zhihao, Winry is pregnant with her and her boys' second child, and Ling is trying to coax Engel, who inherited an unholy mix of all three of his parents' intelligence, away from a book that seems far too large for a toddler, at least until you remember Winry used to read medical textbooks for fun as a kid. Christine is here as well, doting over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The only one missing is Pinako, who has unfortunately succumbed to old age. Her funeral was the last time everyone was together, and it was a somber affair, but Winry held her head up the whole time. "She lived a long, fulfilling life," she said to Riza at dinner that night. "She knew we were going to be okay without her, and she was ready to see Mom and Dad and Trisha again."
Riza looks at her pregnant belly now, and she knows that if this baby is a girl, she'll probably be named Pinako.
Roy wraps his arm around Riza's shoulders and kisses the top of her head. "We should do this more often," he tells her.
Riza smiles, turning her face into his shoulder. "I agree."
She wishes she could go back in time and tell her past self that everything would be okay. She wishes the little girl she was when she met Roy knew how their life was going to turn out.
Because things turned out pretty damn good.

please, do go into detail about your headcanons for roy's parents :D
Yo! Ok cool thanks for giving me a reason to talk about this.
So his dad, Adrian Roy Mustang was the Madame's little brother, he was a pianist who played for his sister's bar on weekends and a busboy/bartender on the weeknights. The piano sits broken in the back room completely unused. Christmas wants to throw it out, but can't bring herself to do it. Adrian has a personality with a goofy sense of humor and loves attention.
His mother, Lian Hong, is a first generation born in amestris raised by her mother alone. Her mother immigrated into the country in search of the Sage of the West to study alchemy. Lian also became facinated with alchemy but never had the means to practice or get educated beyond what other books her mother owned. Her mother was killed in a hate crime. She was orphaned and left alone around 17, From there she was considered a runaway and Chris took her in, here she met Adrian.
Adrian is right around 19 when they meet. This situation is a "he fell first but she fell harder". He's notices she likes to read so he buys her more alchemy books; shes mostly self taught at the basics but can't do much more. She was always info dumping to Adrian about physics/math/philosophy, even if he didn't understand her half the time. Lian would sometimes sing along with Adrian's performance nights but she mostly worked as an escort/informant when needed. Adrian always seemed to be overprotective of her, whenever men would get too rowdy with her, he would not take it well.
They get married at 20 and 22. Adrian has been saving up for them to own an apartment soon but this causes him and Chris to have a family conflict. Chris wants her brother and sister in law to stay with her in the upper rooms, but Adrian wants to start his life with his wife etc.
Around a year later Lian is pregnant but at the same time Adrian gets diagnosed with death! From his death, Lian goes back to stay with Chris but turns out she has a complicated pregnancy. She tells Chris, the names she wants for her baby, Roy (Adrian's middle name) or Suyin (after her mother). She only lives for about 2 days before she passes.
Roy takes after his mother mostly, with the hunger for information, but has his father's humor and sense of flair. Chris would sometimes look at him and he looks so much like Lian; dark hair, eye shape, and nose but he has Adrian's eye color, brow line, jawline.
There is only one picture of his parents which is a a very fainted tintype that hasn't been reserved very well. The tintype stays in Roy's personal belongings box at the bottom of his closet. (A shoe box of old letters, and other photos, and important records)

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💗
-@rainintheevening
I've answered this once already, so I guess this will be my second-tier choices ;)
Not Done with You (Captain America oneshot) - Steve has an encounter with God, due in part to a conversation with Louie Zamperini (historical figure of Unbroken fame). Later, Steve's witness leads Bucky to find salvation as well. I've always daydreamed about my favorite characters becoming Christians, but this was the first one I ever wrote out in this kind of detail, where the way it happens is actually believable and not rushed (in my humble opinion). I like to say that Steve and Bucky were already halfway there anyway, they just needed a little push.
All We've Got to the End of the Line (Captain America/FMA oneshot) - Steve and Bucky are alchemists who have given up parts of their bodies in a botched attempt to resurrect Steve's mother. Ed is a supersoldier desperately trying to get his brainwashed little brother Al to remember him. Basically just a shameless self-indulgent excuse to smush my two all-time favorite bromances together, making them take each other's place and say each other's heart-wrenching lines.
Everything I Touch (FMA oneshot) - AU where Amestris and Drachma went to war, and Ed and Mustang were among the soldiers sent to the front lines, leaving Al and Hawkeye Mrs. Mustang behind (because Al is recovering from getting his body back and Mrs. Mustang is pregnant). This oneshot is about Mustang dealing with PTSD upon his return, and how that affects his home life. I still think I did a decent job of conveying what I wanted to, which I'm especially proud of because this was one of my first experimentations with second-person POV.
The Flame (FMA chapterfic) - Modern-day AU where Mustang is a firefighter who gets an eye injury and is stuck in the hospital for a while, where he meets Ed, a young wheelchair-bound boy who lost an arm and a leg in a terrible fire that killed his mother and brother. Mustang starts telling Ed a story he makes up on the fly, the epic tale of the Full Metal Alchemist. This fic's plot was inspired by my favorite movie of all time, The Fall (an idea that came to me because one of the main characters in the movie is named Roy). It's not exactly a recent work, but I still quietly geek out to myself when I think of how perfectly these two stories mesh together.
Honey, I've Been There (Captain America oneshot) - Set in my AU where Bucky reunites with Steve shortly after TWS, and Steve and Sharon get married and have two kids. This fic focuses on their daughter Juliet, whom Bucky utterly adores and dotes on like she hung the moon and stars. I just love imagining big, tough, brooding Bucky with the metal arm and all his scars and trauma just lighting up over this sweet, innocent girl full to the brim with love. Also, the whole thing was inspired by a beautiful song by one of my favorite artists, so now every time I listen to it, I get to think about this lovely little headcanon.

What would Kimbliza be like as parents? You said before that they'd never have kids, but what if they HAD TO. Love your Crimsonverse series, btw! Thank you for writing it.
Well, first of all, you're so right anon, they would never willingly have kids. But let's say Riza becomes pregnant, doesn't notice because she and her periods have always had a fucked up relationship, and now she's in Ishval, killing and committing war crimes, all while pregnant. There's something inside of her, oh wow. If that isn't body horror, I don't know what is! Riza's the type of person that wouldn't tell anyone about this, I feel. She'd shoulder this burden all on her own. By this I mean she wouldn't tell Roy or Maes. She corners Kimblee just as he's about to go give his last report, since yay the war's over (oh shit the war's over and he's most likely going to be asked to give back the ph stone), and when she tells him: ''Sir, permission to speak freely?'' ''Granted, cadet.'' ''Sir, I am fucking pregnant.'' This THROWS Kimblee SO OFF his game that when he's asked to return the ph stone he DOES IT, he doesn't blow anyone up, he's still thinking about this???? And he's a bit unnerved. Just a tad. A fraction. This has irrevocably fucked his whole day up. And possibly his life. ''Are you going to get rid of it?''
''It's too late for that.''
''But if if weren't...you would have gotten rid of it?''
''Yes, sir.''
''Good.'' Kimblee's on a verge of a nervous breakdown. He's just returned the ph stone and is going to be a father with a woman younger than him whose kill count is terrifying for a non state alchemist. Neither of them are ready to be parents. Neither of them ever WANTED to be parents. ''I mean, not that it helps to dwell on what ifs, of course. The situation is there's a baby.''
Riza? Riza's on a verge of falling unconscious from the stress and horror she's under. (let's assume berthold's given her a talk that in summary is YOU FALL PREGNANT? YOU DIE)
''Do you want to get married?'' Kimblee doesn't mean to propose, he's just asking. Informatively. The war's over. He gave away his power. His life's taking strange turns.
''Taxes are much more lenient for a marriage of two officers.'' Riza says. It's as good of a yes as it gets in this situation.
''Ah, but there is the matter of my being your commanding officer.'' Kimblee isn't sure if he's trying to talk himself out of this or Riza.
Riza remembers Grumman. ''I may know someone who might be able to help us get around that.''
''You don't even like me, do you?'' Kimblee asks. He's neurotically twirling a cigarette between his fingers. Contemplating whether or not to light it. He could really use a cigarette.
''I don't dislike you.'' Riza says.
Kimblee is patting himself down for a lighter. Doesn't find it. Pats himself down again. Starts looking around for one. Riza sighs, deeply.
''Major Mustang,'' Riza calls Roy over. He comes over.
''Yes, Hawkeye?''
''Light Major Kimblee's cigarette, would you?''
The man's never before been more confused in his entire life. He does it anyway. Because it must be important for her.
''Now that you're here, you might as well be invited to the wedding.'' Kimblee says, taking a drag of the cigarette and filling his lungs with the burn that hopefully will clear his head up.
''You're getting married?'' Roy asks Kimblee. ''Who would have you?''
Riza just slowly raises her hand. Through a lump in her throat, she just chokes out: ''Surprise.''
''You know you're most likely pregnant with twins.'' Kimblee drops the bomb on her and she's ready to tear open her stomach right then and there and scoop the flesh out of herself in a primordial horror only known to women.
** Maes thinks this is the best thing to ever happen to anyone ever. He's overjoyed for the both of them. Roy is throwing up right next to Riza. Kimblee's oscillating between being satisfied with himself for getting the best sniper of Amestris as his wife and then remembering that she is a deeply troubled young woman (he knows his niche market) and that they're entering something that is clearly not equivalent exchange. They had an hour or so of good fun and now this kid's asking for 18 years of their life. It just isn't fair.
** It's one baby. No twins. Apparently it skips a generation. ** Roy won't destroy the flame alchemy because Riza's pregnant. But Riza's absolutely in a bad place mentally, worried about her life, this baby's life, Kimblee seeing the arrays on her back, Berthold laughing at her and telling her this is what she deserves for joining the military, all of the horrors she's faced in Ishval. So she disfigures herself. Girlboss moment. That lands her in the hospital. It's botched. She didn't do a good enough job before the shock kicked in and she fainted from the pain.
*** Roy finally does it. Because Riza just tells him she'll do it however many times it takes until she destroys her back. ''I should've done it the moment he died. I shouldn't have ever given it to anyone.'' The hormones are making her rather emotional. Which is a feat, because no one's ever actually seen Riza emotional before.
*** The moment when Riza sits Kimblee down and just says: ''There's a lot.''
''Yes, I did figure you had a lot of emotional baggage when you landed in bed with me.'' It's that sort of self-awareness that makes Riza smile. It goes a lot more smoothly than she thought it would. Kimblee sees what's left of the flame alchemy formula on her back and grimaces: ''I have my own alchemy.'' He says. As if it isn't obvious. ''It's a marvel, certainly, but I have no intention of stealing another man's work when I've fulfilled my own need for creation and research by my own merit. And not by something that's passed down.'' And he says it with such glee, because to him this proves he's the better alchemist than Roy, who couldn't design his own alchemy, who needed it handed down to him like a hand-out. He kisses Riza with such gratitude for showing him this. ''You truly had nothing to worry about.''
And Riza's inclined to believe him.
*** Except one open talk between two future parents doesn't mean that Riza's trauma is erased. Far from it. The more she gets closer to the due date, the more she's panicking. Because if she dies. God. If she dies she'll leave the child alone with Kimblee. Alone with an alchemist. How her mother left her with her father. An alchemist. How her father hurt her. How he forced his alchemy onto her because that was all that mattered to him. And if Berthold cared about alchemy, then Kimblee's fanatic about it. The thoughts plague her. She can't sleep. She even pulls a gun on Kimblee, who, by this point has become rather used to this. If he had a ph stone he'd have already bailed by now, but since he doesn't - he knows Mustang would definitely win in a fight against him. Being charred to ashes isn't really how Kimblee envisioned himself going.
''What's this on about now?''
''Where are your alchemy notes?''
Kimblee props himself up on his elbows. It's 4 in the morning. He's barely awake. His bed hair is horrendous. ''Excuse me?''
''Your alchemy notes. Where are they? Did you write them down?'' Riza's going to pull the trigger then and there if Kimblee says they're all in his head because leaving a paper trail is dangerous. It's dangerous until he gets his hands on that child of theirs. Hers. Nobody's going to hurt her kid.
Kimblee rolls out of bed and pulls Riza to come with him to the dresser. He pulls away some of the hanging suits. There's a small door in the wall which he taps and it opens. Out of there he just takes stacks of papers. Music notes. She's reminded that he plays the piano. That he's told her his parents are musicians. Riza takes her finger off of the trigger and lowers the gun. She just breaks down crying then. There aren't really any tears, but she's shaking so much and cursing Berthold for doing this to her, for the fact that he couldn't be normal and code his alchemy like everyone else. That he's instilled so much fear inside of her heart that's never going to leave. Ever. That she isn't able to trust anyone to do anything.
He pulls her gently back to bed and sits next to her, letting her lean on his shoulder. ''Would you like to meet my sister?'' Kimblee asks her out of the blue. ''You told me that when your mother died you were left all alone with Berthold. I can assure you that if you die, I'll just hand our child off to my family. I don't want the sole responsibility of a child.''
Riza's never been more relieved in her life. ''Yes, sure.''
*************** Kimblee's family is...very normal. Like, absurdly normal. Riza's waiting for them to show their true faces at any moment, thinking that they're just being nice to her because she's new.
''Solf,'' his mother scowls, ''you should have told us you had gotten married.''
''You'd have invited the entire neighbourhood.''
''He just eloped.'' The sister is teasing. ''But I can definitely see why. Riza's quite an interesting character.'' Conspiratorially she leans into her space and winks. ''I thought he was going to die a virgin you know. I can show you some photos of us back in our music school. He was really ugly. Had massive acne and his only interest was alchemy. I was really worried he wouldn't know his way around a woman. His idea of dirty talk is probably all about how much he's going to make this a night of equivalent exchange, or whatever.''
''Only the acne's changed, then.'' Riza says.
The sister laughs so hard the wine goes flying out of her mouth.
Solf just grimaces at the two of them. His barbs back to his sister verge on cruel, but the sister returns them tenfold crueller. There's a teasing undertone to their threats. Nothing how Berthold used to speak to her when she was a child.
The mother's nice, too. She's rather awkward around Riza and her giant belly. And the tiny Kimblee inside of her. On one hand she doesn't want to pry but on another she can't help but blurt out: ''So, is it a boy or a girl?''
''Girl.'' Riza and Kimblee say at the same time.
''Yes,'' the sister says, making a fist ''yes, we're taking over the Kimblee household. All of the Kimblee men are dying off. Solf, we'll bury you in the backyard, btw, because we're not going to waste money on a coffin for you.''
''I have made my wishes plainly clear. I want my body to be preserved and stuffed like a stuffed animal carcass that you're all going to parade around from time to time and scare the neighbourhood children with.''
The sister's laughing before Riza can actually ask if Solf's serious.
The mother scoffs: ''Honestly, Solf, you and your insane ideas. I was planning on cutting you up into many pieces and putting you in the freezer. Do you know how much we'd save on meat for a couple of weeks?''
She's beginning to understand why Kimblee's the way he is. Because Kimblee's absolutely smiling at what, to him, is obviously a great joke.
Kimblee's mother pats Riza on the back and gingerly says: ''Chin up, dearest, we're an odd bunch but we don't bite.'' ****************
The baby comes. It's really difficult to raise a child. They pawn her off at Maes and Gracia's VERY, VERY OFTEN.
''Don't you want to spend time and see all her milestones?'' Maes is wiggling the little baby's foot. ''Come on, mama and dada are here.''
Riza and Kimblee are both on child's leave. They do rock paper sissors every month to see who'll win out of the majority of the months. The winner gets back to work and the loser has to stay longer at home to take care of the child.
Kimblee loses. Riza's never before been glad for Roy teaching her how to psyche someone out in Rock paper scissors before in HER LIFE.
***************** The kiddo grows up with very 'we're kind of here but not really' parents. Like they don't abuse the kid, but they haven't actually bonded with her either.
''Do you think men can have post-partum depression?''
Riza just scoffs at him. ''Don't be ridiculous, Solf.''
''I didn't know you were sexist, Riza. Colour me surprised.''
Riza hates that Kimblee's sense of humour is rubbing off on her okay. She fucking hates that she's laughing with him so much. But really, if she didn't laugh at her husband's jokes it would be a bit sad, wouldn't it? ************ Kimblee's family wants to be very hands on. Neither Kimblee nor Riza mind at all.
''You turned out okay.'' RIza says. ''Your sister turned out normal.''
Their kid says mama to Gracia and papa to Kimblee's sister.
''This is the funniest thing to ever happen to me.'' Kimblee's laughing his ass off. Riza's looking at their daughter and calling her so, so dumb. ''Just because Gracia's blonde, sweetie, doesn't mean she's your mama.''
''The long hair really makes it so my sister looks like me, doesn't it?''
''It could actually be that both Gracia and your sister have done more for her than we have as parents.'' Riza says.
Kimblee inclines his head to agree. Yeah, you know, that's not that far off from the truth. They'd let their kid be a latchkey kid at three if she could reach the door lock.
**************** Roy Mustang absolutely spoils their child rotten.
''If he gives her more chocolate, I'm going to cry.'' Kimblee says. ''Have you tried putting her down for a nap after she's inhaled fourteen chocolate cubes?''
''No, can't say that I have. I'm at work, you know.'' Riza rubs it in his face and kisses him. He scowls but obliges her.
************ Edward Elric is absolutely terrified of Kimblee. But when he learns the guy has a kid with Hawkeye he's a little less inclined to be terrified. Because he and Hawkeye are best buds. She's like his older sister.
''Soo, you committed human transmutation?'' Kimblee's idea of an opening line is priceless.
Edward's piggybacking his kid. ''Uh, yeah.''
''You shouldn't lift her, you know. She might be too heavy for someone of your stature.''
''DID YOU JUST CALL ME FUCKING SHORT?!'' Ed makes a show of very gently setting Riza's daughter down on the floor, before absolutely launching himself at Kimblee.
Kimblee will never hit a defenceless child, it's beneath him - but out of self defence he will do a lot to finally unleash some of that pent up rage being a stay at home father's done to him. (for now. his parental leave's almost over and he'll finally be back - but in the meantime he will knock a twelve year old into the ground)
TLDR: I think they'd be really stupid parents who clearly didn't want a kid, but they'd make the best out of it since they're very good at openly communicating and being adults. plus they've got a village to help raise the child so it's easier on them than if they had no one. if they had no one, kimblee would either be shot, riza would be blown up, and the child would most likely be smothered under a pillow.

everybody likes to talk in the Steve Rogers tag about how he'd get brought into the TVA for miscellaneous canonically permitted time crimes but I think we all know the #1 actual crime of pruned Steve Rogers variants is trying to take a vacation.

The Avengers (2012): Ant-Man (Hank Pym), one of the comics' founding Avengers, has nothing to do with the founding of the MCU Avengers.
Ant-Man (2015): Scott Lang becomes Ant-Man, succeeding Hank Pym, who originated the identity in the 1960s (the decade the comic book character debuted).
Avengers: Endgame (2019): Ant-Man (Scott Lang) goes back in time to the Battle of New York as part of the Avengers' time heist, retconning himself into being involved in the founding of the MCU Avengers.
Hawkeye (2021): For some reason Ant-Man appears in the Battle of New York musical number in Rogers! The Musical, even though we all know he technically had nothing to do with the original event. Somehow it's probably Scott Lang's fault.
Ms. Marvel (2022): Scott Lang does podcast interviews. At least one vendor at Avenger Con is selling merch referencing America's Ass. It becomes immediately obvious that Ant-Man appearing as a character in Rogers! The Musical is 100000% Scott Lang's fault, and he probably didn't even do it on purpose.

RoyEd: Trisha Elric was 20 years old when she got pregnant by a guy who'd been stuck in his late 40s for more than 400 years, so really Ed is only carrying on a noble family tradition!

Your story “it’s theirs” was just so so so beautiful. I was wondering if you where considering expanding on it and maybe telling the story of Riza telling Roy she is expecting? Would love to see your take on it, if it’s something you would entertain. Thank you for your beautiful work ❤️
it’s theirs
YES. ALWAYS YES. ALSO THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️ AND THANK YOU B-GRIVEROS FOR DRAWING FROM THIS DFJKSNDFKRated: K+ Words: ~1200
On the third anniversary of Grumman’s administration, the late spring congratulated the Fuhrer with breezy weather just as it did the first year when Amestris dusted itself off at the knees following the Promised Day. The man’s ethos had not been lost with his youth. In fact, Roy would say the very same, ambitious, young man spoke and captivated the audience with his speech – rather than codger with a cane haunting Central Headquarters. The attendants laughed, they cried and stared off fondly into the distance over a heartfelt phrase. Roy might’ve wanted and waited and risked his life for this position, but he imagined the geriatric military man waited much longer.
“I’m expecting.”
With his attention focused elsewhere, he almost missed the Captain’s comment; it was delicately said and soft. He presumed deliberately quiet for discretion so he leaned in towards her to answer. “For him to retire soon? Me too.”
“No,” she said pointedly.
Cluelessly, he continued her guessing game. “Expecting rain? A letter?” Someone shushed him from the row behind him. Roy ignored them, turning to her before comprehension connected the dots. She held her gaze straight ahead; the sun’s light picking up golden flecks from adamant brown eyes. Her face gave no indication she’d said anything. She shook her head. “Then are you going to finish that sentence?”
Riza pushed air through her nose. The muscles on her neck turned taut as she swallowed.  For a brief second, there was a subtle tremble in her eyes like she was trying to avoid eye contact with him. She wasn’t. She glanced at him for an even quicker second.  In that cursory glance, an unprecedented amalgam of unease, concern and apprehension spilled out of her like a torrential surge. Her throat cleared and she straightened in her seat. “No, sir, I’m-”
The applause snatched away the rest of the words. He didn’t need them. She stood. The rest of his row stood in congratulatory ovation and he sat with his mouth slightly agape. Riza tapped his shoulder, because more is expected from a newly promoted General. However, the blood drained from his face when he lifted himself off his chair. He clapped slowly, staring into the distance from the acute shock. He managed, “When did you-”
“Today. Right before the ceremony.”
“And you tell me now?”
“Less likely for you to make a scene.”
“How about breaking the news privately?”
“You still would’ve made a scene.”
He scoffed and held back the words sitting on his tongue because she was right. There was little he could say and he was limited in how he could react. She’d chosen the perfect time. Bodies began to move, emptying out from their seats. “We need to talk about this.”
“Now’s not the time.”
“Now’s precisely the time.” The Captain protests were muted when his hand guided her by the small of her back through the crowd. Roy humorously made excuses to the curious guests that his adjutant was merely ill from the heat and her flushed face assisted him with that ruse. The maze-like corridors were no adversary of his; he’d frequented the Fuhrer’s personal estate enough to know his way around to an unoccupied room. He shut the door behind him and stared at the gilded door knob, holding it for support more than he realized.
“I ask that you think about this.”
Roy sighed with enough force to feel it through the back of his gloved hand. “I’m sorry this happened.”
Silence lingered over them and he felt a thousand thoughts screaming at him all at once.
“That’s not- I don’t need you to apologize. This happened because of something we both chose to do.” A Hawkeye answer if he ever heard one. A well disguised one if he didn’t know better.
Riza Hawkeye was nervous and it almost stole him of breath. Tearing himself away from the door, he sailed towards her. She stood in her own island in the middle of this ornate parlour room, and she stared at the intricately patterned carpet as if the swirls were waves hitting her feet. Her fingers fidgeted with each other; an idiosyncrasy of hers tucked away and dormant for fifteen years. Her gaze refused to meet his even as his hands offered refuge from that weight along her jaw. That she was not alone in this. “How do you feel about this?”
“Strangely new and…” he could hear the strength in her voice, like her confidence, taper down to a whisper.  “Terrified.”
“Why are you terrified?” He asked softly.
She took her time to look at him and the war veteran sniper, the paragon of military officers, the trusted bodyguard, disappeared from sight. In her place, he saw a younger woman, an alchemist’s daughter in trouble.
Her eyebrows twitched together and she frowned. “Why aren’t you?”
Roy opened his mouth thinking he knew the answer. Because he loved her. Because she loved him. Because this is how things were supposed to be in the past. Because this was long awaited and creating something of their love would be the final testament that he will not be separated from her. He closed it because he was scared. Bubbling, as always, to the forefront, he knew something like this could endanger their livelihood and erase all they’ve worked for at great expense – easily, like footprints in the desert. Fraternizing in the shadows was one ordeal, creating a kid was another.
Except, to turn his back on this would undo something greater but self-serving at its root, and incredibly painful altogether to live without. The toll of what her loss would cost shook him to his very core during Promised Day, realizing he ignorantly took each day for granted, that her life was tethered to his. He had never felt blinder with sight.
Now, he felt like the world was new again like daybreak crowning over the horizon, brighter than the day he regained his sight. This time, it wasn’t in his visions of his ambitions flourishing from his mind but, what he can only assume, a clump of cleverly conjoined cells in her womb, probably no bigger than a sweet pea. His sweet pea.
However, it hung in the balance, as heavily in the air as in his chest. Roy sighed again, breaking away from her eyes, and his hands slid over her collars to her shoulders, then to her sleeves where he felt the rigidity of her tense arms. They could be in doubt about themselves for the rest of their lives, but one thing was clear: “You’re carrying our child, Riza.”
Her frown deepened, this time angrier than scared, something she defaulted to at times. “There’s more to this than just emotions. I think we should really consider–”
Roy interrupted her with a tilt of her chin and a chaste kiss where he lingered over her lips longer than the actual kiss. Then, he held her close, uncaring that her hands were still in front of her making the buttons of his uniform poke uncomfortably into his skin. He held her with hands tucking her head into his shoulder, fastened her to him as a simple man trying to preserve a memory.
She, too, hugged him fiercely after he murmured, “Whatever we decide, we can let ourselves have this moment.”

Riza
“So, when exactly were you planning on telling me?”
I blush and look into my coffee mug. Decaf, of course. I’m fighting the desire to run to my room and change clothes. Rebecca surprised me with her visit, and I didn’t have time to change out of what I slept in—one of Roy’s shirts. Considering the size of my baby bump these days, my own pajamas don’t fit. In truth, this is pushing it. Roy is larger than me, but even so, the fabric is pulling tight across my middle, leaving nothing to the imagination.
“You were planning on telling me, weren’t you?”
“Of course.” I sigh, looking up at my friend, who is sitting across the kitchen table from me.
“Okay, so why didn’t you call? I had to find out from Jean that you were on an extended leave of absence. Jean!”
“Look, Becca. I’m sorry, okay? But you can understand why I wouldn’t just announce to the whole world that I–”
“Have a bun in the oven? Yeah. I do get that,” she cuts me off. “Considering the only person who could get you that way is your freaking boss, but that doesn’t explain why you didn’t tell me.”
“More like buns,” I mumble, and she blinks in confusion.
“What?”
“You said bun…” I shrug, sipping my drink. “But there’s…two.”
“Two?” she gasps. “You mean, you and the Colonel are having twins.”
“Oh God. Don’t say it like that.”
“Oh, okay.” She rolls her eyes. “How do you want me to say it? You and Mustang? You and your superior officer? You and the Flame Alchemist?”
“Roy is fine,” I choke, trying to immediately forget every suggestion she just made.
“Roy?” Her brow furrows. “I… That’s so weird. I don’t know if I can call him that.”
“Moving on,” I announce, fidgeting in my seat.
“Right. You’re preggers and didn’t tell me. Rude.”
“Rebecca,” I sigh. “I wanted to tell you, but I couldn’t. I trust you with my life, but you have a tendency to get overly excited about this kind of thing, and I just… I love you, okay? But Roy and I…this is scary.”
“Scary is when you need your best friend,” she points out.
“True.” I nod. “But not when telling anyone might end our careers.”
“Which brings me to my next point. What are you going to do? You can’t be on leave forever. Especially since your entire purpose in life is to protect the Colonel.”
“Right now, my leave is protecting him,” I say softly. “And, as for what we’re going to do… He proposed.”
“Shut up! Riza Hawkeye you’ve been keeping that from me! How dare you!”
I wait until she’s done before I continue.
“Well, even if we get married, it doesn’t negate the fact we’ve been breaking fraternization laws, which are grounds for immediate discharge from the military. I won’t let that happen to the colonel.”
“Obviously.”
“So, we have an audience with my grandfather next week, and…we’ll see how it goes. Roy already told me he wouldn’t go along with a lie. I tried to suggest saying the child—children weren’t his, but he refused. If the fürher won’t approve our union, and…pardon us, I…”
I’ll just have to quit. As much as I dread it, that’s the only solution.
“Riza, don’t stress out. It’ll be fine,” Rebecca’s soft voice reminds me where I am, and I take a deep breath.
“Sorry.”
“No, don’t be.” She shakes her head. “I shouldn’t have pushed.”
“I really did want to tell you,” I repeat.
“I know.”
“Anyway…” I change the subject slowly and set my mug down. “You and Havoc?”
“What? Oh.” She blushes and fidgets with her hair. “I mean, how did you—We haven’t really… It’s not like it’s a big–”
“You called him ‘Jean,’ Becca,” I cut off her rambling and feel my lips tilt up.
“Okay, yes,” she declares, exasperatedly. “We’re…something.”
“‘Something?’” I raise my eyebrows.
“Well, I mean…we haven’t really put a label on it. It’s just so new. And fun. And scary.”
“Scary?”
I fight off the urge to repeat back what she said about “scary” a second ago.
“Yeah. Not at first, obviously. When he first asked me out, I thought it was so ridiculous I laughed. I even referred to our first date as a joke. Until…”
“Until?” I urge softly, my hand absently going to my belly.
She bites her lip and looks to the side, and I immediately know where this is going.
“Just tell me,” I sigh.
“Really?” She perks up instantly. “I mean, you won’t mind if I go into detail and–”
“Not if you hurry.”
“Oh my God. Okay.” She takes a second to compose herself before turning to me again. “Riza, I swear, all this time I thought he was overcompensating with the whole bad boy, trademark cigarette, ladies’ man thing, but…” She pauses and releases a slow breath. “The man is blessed.”
“Blessed?” I tilt my head.
“Hung,” she supplies instantly. “Endowed. Fucking equipped.”
“I think I get it,” I mumble.
Honestly, I regret giving her the go-ahead about this more than I thought I would. And she’s said like five words.
“God, not only that, but he is gifted with it,” she goes on animatedly. “The first time we fucked, it was after work when I pulled that double shift in sector four. He met me at a bar within walking distance from my place… I thought my neighbors were going to call the cops. I mean, I don’t think I’ve ever moaned like that in my life—Well, not until then, anyway. Since the first time, we’ve been sort of–”
“Stop.” I thrust my hand in her face, and she leans back in her seat.
“What? I thought you said I could share–”
“I recant,” I say quickly. “I just… I love you, Rebecca, but it’s a good thing I’m on leave because if I had to go in to the office and see Havoc’s face right now…I would have to turn around and leave.”
“Sorry,” she mutters sheepishly. “I try not to think of him as your subordinate. I mean, obviously I know he is, but…it’s hard to let a guy take your panties off with his teeth while you’re thinking, ‘My best friend is his boss.’ If you know what I mean.”
I open my mouth to say…words—I don’t know what words, but just some of them—when the door to the apartment opens, and I jump to my feet.
Sort of. I’m a little too pregnant to be jumping in any way.
“Riza…” Roy comes around the corner, his hands full of lingerie, Black Hayate jumping at his heels. “I wasn’t sure what sizes you wanted, so I sort of guessed–” He stops when he spots Rebecca.
“Uh, hi, Colonel.” She nods, her gaze locked on the lacy bits in his hands.
“Lieutenant Catalina,” he says slowly, his jaw locking up. “I, uh, didn’t realize you were coming.”
“It was sort of last minute.” Her vague explanation is overshadowed by the mischievous glint in her eyes.
“If you’ll just excuse us for a minute. Riza,” he turns back to me, dropping his arms. “Our room.”
He turns and starts down the hall, and I look over at Rebecca.
“Why does he have–”
“I’ll be right back,” I cut her off before she can finish her question and follow after Roy. God only knows what dirty things are going through her mind right now. And just after I put her off talking about her latest sexcapades.
When I enter the bedroom, Roy is standing by the bed with his arms crossed. The three bra-and-panties sets he bought are laid out on the cover.
“Sir, she just–”
“It’s fine,” he says in a low tone.
“How was I supposed to know you were going to come waltzing in holding a thong?”
“I said it’s fine, Riza,” he repeats, shaking his head. “Besides, I’m not half as concerned about that as I am that she knows.”
“She came over unexpectedly after Havoc mentioned my extended leave of absence, and after I opened the door, there was no chance of hiding it.” I sit down on the edge of the bed. “I’m sorry.”
“Well, there’s not much we can do about it now, aside from swearing her to secrecy until it’s safe to go public.”
“I suppose you’re right.”
“Though, I wish I’d known she was here. I had hoped to surprise you with these when we were alone.”
He nods to the selection of sexy underwear, and I turn and pick up a pair of the panties.
“Crotchless?” I raise my eyebrows before I move my eyes from the slit in the material to his face.
He shrugs, his lips tilting up in a sexy grin. “Easier access.”
“I’m going to kick her out,” I whisper, looking at the door.
So far this pregnancy thing hasn’t been particularly pleasant. (Morning sickness, back aches, mood swings, cravings, etc.) But recently, my hormones have been doing wonderful and terrible things to my libido. Like ramping it up so I’m constantly ready for sex.
“Finish your coffee,” Roy says softly, taking the scrap of lace out of my hands.
I’m a little surprised by his comment since he’s historically not thought twice about getting me naked in bed when I brought it up.
“But what about…?” I close the distance between us, as much as my belly will allow, and reach down to cup the slight bulge in his pants.
“Drink fast,” he grunts, stepping back slightly.
“But…don’t you have work?” I frown up at him.
“I took off today to spend the day with you,” he murmurs, leaning down to kiss my forehead.
“Right.” I lean forward and press my lips to his throat before slipping back out of the room, ignoring the warmth between my legs.
When I reach the kitchen, Rebecca is standing, fixing her purse on her shoulder.
“You’re leaving?” I blink at her.
“Oh.” She looks from me toward my bedroom and back. “Well, you guys seemed a little…distracted. I figured you’d want some mommy-daddy time.” She shrugs with a smile. “You know me. I’m not one to get in the way of a good orgasm. Or a great one, I would hope.”
“But you don’t have to leave yet. We can talk more–”
“It’s okay, Riza.” She sighs. “I showed up unannounced. Besides, we had a good chat, and you can call me later or something.”
“Really? Because I understand if–”
“Riza,” she cuts me off with a hard look. “Please. You’re being nice, but I saw the colonel’s erection through his pants the second he walked in. Go have hot pregnant sex. I’ll see you later.”
She turns toward the door.
“I’ll call you tonight.”
Her head turns, and she pins me with her eyes. “You damn-well better because I’m expecting a fully detailed play-by-play of what happens to all that sexy underwear.”
“I should’ve known,” I mumble.
“Promise,” she demands, pointing at me. “Jean is working a night shift, so I’m counting on you to let me vicariously mooch off your love life for an evening.”
“Fine.” I sigh. “I promise to tell-all. Now go already.”
“Bye, Riza.”
She waves before disappearing out the door, and I immediately turn and go back down the hall. Roy is stretched out on the bed in a pair of lounge pants (and nothing else) when I enter.
“She leave?” He looks over at me from the book he’s reading, and I nod.
“I even tried to convince her to stay,” I tell him quietly as I climb onto the bed on my knees. “Though I don’t know why.”
“Hmm. But we’re alone now?” He sets the book aside and turns to me fully.
“Yes, sir,” I whisper. “Just you and me.”
“So, the question becomes, should we bother with the lingerie or should I just take you right now?”
“Why not both?” I ask, my lips going to his ear. “First one, then the other.”
“Fuck, I like the way you think, Lieutenant.”
“It’s probably the hormones,” I admit softly.
“Then remind me to get you pregnant more often.”
I open my mouth to argue about that when his arm slides around my back and pulls me down on the mattress. He shifts so he’s hovering over me, and instantly my breathing gets shallow.
God, I love this man.
He reaches for the hem of my shirt, and my mind quits thinking, letting my body lead. Or rather, follow his lead.
