premise: the first day of school makes a turn for the strange when gonta gokuhara is tasked with confronting the ghost of the first floor girls’ bathroom

warning(s): talk of serial killers and murder, the supernatural

key: (H/L) = hair length, (H/C) = hair color

High school, an eternal hell for those not among the chosen. It was a thunder dome of teenage body odor and a hell hole for crazed hormones to flourish. Gonta Gokuhara knew that folks like him would be easy to torment if he didn’t use his size to his advantage.

Puberty had blessed the poor boy with muscles like an Olympian and the height of an Amazonian, as he shedded his awkward 5′5″ middle school self and transformed into a 6′6″ high school first year. Still, he was clumsy and nervous like any kid on their first day of high school.

Gonta maneuvered his way through the halls of Hoddakido Wakkani Academy, students stepping out of the way as to not be trampled by the giant of a high schooler, “Class 1-A.. Class 1-A.. Class- oh, there!” he found his classroom and stepped inside, unknowingly signing his death warrant. 

Inside the classroom, a group of third years stood waiting for their first target of the new school year. Of course, they weren’t expecting a behemoth like Gonta Gokuhara but he would do. 

Gonta took note of the boys’ uniform buttons, gold to symbolize their status as third year students in comparison to Gonta’s first year bronze-colored buttons. Immediately, he bowed respectfully to his upperclassmen and exclaimed, “Apologies for intruding! Am I interrupting something?”

“Oh no, not at all!” one of the boys- a lanky guy with auburn hair- cooed to Gonta, “Actually, we need your help, big fellow.”

Gonta gritted his teeth at the words ‘big fellow’, he despised that nickname. 

“I’m Haru, but you can call me Haru-senpai,” the third year boy replied.

“Understood, Haru-senpai!” answered Gonta, not wanting to anger his upperclassmen with disrespect. 

“We have a tradition here at Hoddakido Wakkani,” another boy- a chubby guy with a bowl cut- added, “The first year student who makes it to homeroom first has to visit one of the school’s seven wonders.”

“Seven wonders?” Gonta never heard of such a thing at Hoddakido Wakkani.

“Seven wonders!” the chubby student replied, “And you, big guy, get to be the first student to visit (Y/N)-chan of the first floor girls’ bathroom.”

“W- What?” Gonta tried to conceal his stammer. To visit the girl’s bathroom on the first day of school when he was clearly a boy would be social suicide!

“No ifs, no buts, no whats,” stated Haru, grabbing Gonta by the collar and pulling the first year to eye level, “Meet us after school at three o’clock sharp, or you can kiss your time at Hoddakido Wakkani goodbye.”

Guess standing his ground on the first day of school went out the window.

Gonta awaited outside the first floor girls’ bathroom, twiddling his thumbs anxiously. The group of third years, led by Haru, stood before him with smirks and exchanged snickers. Haru took charge and informed Gonta, “Here’s a little history lesson on (Y/N)-chan~”

Gonta listened to Haru closely, as he explained the legend of (Y/N)-chan, ghost of the first floor girls’ bathroom.

“Legends has it that during the eighties, a serial killer was on the loose throughout the city of Wakkani. Although they were never caught, it was rumored to be the local butcher with an obsession for skinning pretty high school girls.”

Gonta gulped his nerves, remembering his parents talking about the spree of murders that plagued Wakkani during their teenage years.

“The serial killer managed to skin a dozen girls before killing a thirteenth girl, (Y/N) (L/N). Yet, she was a different case with the serial killer killing in the bathroom of Hoddakido Wakkani Academy instead of kidnapping her and taking her to a secondary location.”

Gonta didn’t remember his parents mentioning a thirteenth victim.

“To this day, rumors say that (Y/N)-chan haunts the first floor girls’ bathroom, attacking any man who dares enter her domain. And you, Gonta Gokuhara, are gonna be this year’s sacrifice.”

“Wait–” it was too late, Haru had already shoved Gonta inside the bathroom and slammed the door behind him. Gonta tripped and fall on his face before sitting back up and clutching his bruised forehead, “Damnit..”

“Are you okay?” a soft voice asked him, was there a girl already in the bathroom beforehand?”

“Yeah, I’ll be okay..” Gonta grumbled, as he slowly looked up, “It’s just a–”

His voice dissipated at the sight of the girl before him, glowing an eerie blue and floating over the ground. Gonta’s heart nearly gave out from the fright, as he stumbled to get away from the ghost, “G- G- G... GHOST!”

“You don’t have to be rude about it,” huffed the girl, swishing her (H/L) (H/C) back. The ghost was dressed in an older version of Hoddakido Wakkani Academy’s female uniform, a navy sailor outfit with black penny loafers and a loose neckerchief. 

“Are you–” Gonta swallowed his nerves, “–(Y/N)-chan?”

The ghost, presumably (Y/N) of the first floor girls’ bathroom, smiled at Gonta and hummed in reply, “That’s my name, don’t wear it out!” she did a loop flying around the bathroom, “What brings you to my domain, cutie?”

Cutie? Gonta blushed at the compliment. Sure, his mother would call him a handsome boy but never had Gonta been complimented by a girl his age before. He cleared his throat, trying to cool down his flaming cheeks, and explained the situation to (Y/N)-chan, “I- er, I’m this year’s sacrifice.”

(Y/N)-chan blew a raspberry and rolled her eyes, “Tch, I hate it when those third years do that. Sure, I usually give the poor sap stuck as the sacrifice a scare but it has gotten soooooo–” she elongated her words, “–boring!”

Gonta blinked at the ghost, “So.. am I free to go?”

“Yeah, I guess!” the ghost checked her nails absentmindedly, “Or you can do me a favor.”

Gonta raised his eyebrows at (Y/N)-chan, “A favor?”

“Yeah, a favor!” the ghost repeated to the first year student.

“What’s the favor?” he asked.

“I want you to solve my murder.”

gonta could only stare. he couldn’t believe this was happening. why was this happening? why, why, why? why did she have to be the one his parents were forcing him to marry? sure, gonta may have had a minor crush but to marry? gonta wasn’t ready! he was only seventeen! seventeen, for fuck’s sake! normal seventeen year olds don’t get married!

“i’m glad it’s you though!” chirped (y/n) with that sweet smile of hers. gonta’s face flushed warmly and he asked, “what do you mean by that?”

“when my parents told me i was getting married, i thought it was gonna be some asshole,” she hummed to gonta before sipping from her flute glass, “but you’re not an asshole. you’re.. well, sweet.”

“th- thanks..” he grumbled sheepishly. still, he couldn’t marry (y/n). maybe if they were under different circumstances, but he couldn’t.. gonta just couldn’t marry her.

“it’s scary,” (y/n) reached out and took gonta by the hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. her smile dimmed, “i understand. i don’t wanna get married either. i know what my parents expect of me and i don’t want that for myself.”

“what do you want, (y/n)?” gonta questioned.

she chuckled, “i want to see the world and teach.”

“a teacher?” gonta was surprised, “you want to be a teacher?”

(y/n) hummed and nodded, “i do. i want to teach people the beauty of the wonder from math to literature. but my parents want me to be a dutiful wife and bear a child.. gonta, i’m only sixteen. i’m not ready for that.”

only sixteen.

gonta felt embarrassed and downright pissed. (y/n) was younger than him- granted, only a year younger but still- this was insane! madness! why were their parents forcing them to do this?

“i don’t want to do this either,” whispered gonta, as if he could feel that someone was listening in on their conversation.

“what do you want to do with your life, gonta gokuhara?”

that question struck a cord within gonta. his entire life was dedicated to him learning how to take over the family company. the only times he felt like himself were spent in the woods with the bugs.

bugs.

“i want to work with bugs.”

(y/n) giggled and proposed to gonta, “like an entomologist?”

an entomologist.

there was a word for his passion?

gonta mustered up a smile and answered, “yes.. i want to be an entomologist.”

“well, i think you will make an excellent entomologist,” (y/n) flashed him the thumbs up and let out a little giggle. what a wonderful giggle, gonta thought to himself.

she deserved the world.

“how did it go with miss. jaimeson?” tadashi asked gonta after the meeting.

gonta stared at the floor of the limo and mumbled, “fine, i guess..”

“i know you don’t want to do this,” tadashi looked at gonta from the driver’s mirror, as he made a turn onto the highway. gonta’s eyes widened and he coughed nervously, “h- how do you know?”

“mr. gokuhara, i have been with your family since you were born,” tadashi replied with a smile, “i know your tells.”

“well.. there’s nothing i can do about it anyway,” grumbled gonta.

“there is one way.”

a way out? that made gonta perk up with attention, “there is?”

“team danganronpa is hosting auditions for their fifty third season,” tadashi passed gonta a flyer when they made it to a stop light.

gonta examined the flyer. sure enough, it was a flyer about auditions for danganronpa’s fifty third season. gonta wasn’t a fan of the show but many students at his academy adored the bloodshed and plot of it.

“they’re in a month,” added tadashi, “plenty of time to think on it.”

“you’re right..” could this be my chance to escape? “i’ll think on it.”

suddenly gonta’s smartphone buzzed with a notification. he pulled it out and checked to see who it was from.

(y/n) jaimeson: safe home yet?

gonta’s heart tightened at her concern and he texted (y/n) back.

gonta gokuhara: not yet, but will be home soon. how about you?

another buzz came just a moment later.

(y/n) jaimeson: home safe! my parents seem pleased :/

gonta frowned.

gonta gokuhara: how come?

(y/n) jaimeson: i told them how nice you were to me :( sorry!

gonta gokuhara: it’s okay.

a final buzz came bad news.

(y/n) jaimeson: they want the wedding to be in about a month.

gonta froze in place.

a month?

his wedding would be the same day as the danganronpa auditions.

“excellent work on your first meeting with the jaimeson girl,” gonta’s mother praised gonta when he entered the family mansion. he gave his mother a grunt of acknowledgment before making a beeline to his bedroom.

“wait just a moment,” gonta’s father called out. gonta stopped in place and turned his focus on his parents, “yes?” he asked, “what is it?”

“we got you a present!” his mother exclaimed, holding out a perfectly wrapped gift to gonta. tadashi must have wrapped it for them, gonta knew how bad his mother was at wrapping gifts.

“what’s the occasion?” gonta took the gift skeptically.

“just a little incentive,” his father commented.

gonta unwrapped the gift, it was a large portable bug cage. he looked at his parents in confusion, how did they know he enjoyed bugs and bug catching? gonta never told them about his passion for bugs.

“keep up the good work and there will be more gifts to come,” gonta’s father stated.

anger bubbled up in gonta’s chest but he managed to remain calm, “alright.”

“you’re free to go now,” his mother added. gonta nodded and took his gift up to his bedroom, shutting the door behind him.

gonta plopped down on his monstrously large bed and let out a sigh of annoyance. marriage, parents, danganronpa.. it was all too much for poor gonta gokuhara.

gonta took out the flyer and analyzed it once more.

Pregame Gonta relationship headcanons:     

~Gonta is super sweet to you and treats you with affection all the time. The same with everyone else, but extra love for you.

~Since Gonta gets angry at the tiniest things, you would have to walk on eggshells around him. But the good thing is that he calms down easily.

~Loves to catch bugs he thinks looks as beautiful as you. He would mostly catch butterflies, Fireflies, and ladybugs. All of those he believes look like you.

~In school, he wouldn't be able to work at all. He constantly wants to talk to you. Gonta is very touch starved. He needs to be around you at all times or he feels sad.

~Because of this, Gonta would often get detention since he didn't pay lots of attention to his work. Just give this precious bean some love.

~I imagine that if anyone was ever bullying you, he would hurt them. If it was a girl, he would spread rumors about them around the school. If it was a guy, he would beat them up and just punch and punch. You wouldn't be able to recognize the guy's face by being bruised and covered in blood. ¨No one bully S/O! ¨ is something he would repeat over and over while he did that.

~Getting off that topic... the first date you two went on was at the park. You two had set out a blanket on the grass, brought some food and ate it. But that wasn't the best two parts of the date.

~The first thing you both enjoyed was the beautiful sunset that appeared in front of you two. The gorgeous orange, purple, and yellow that were painted across the sky was so pretty.

~The second thing you both enjoyed was well...a kiss. It was both of yours first kiss ever. You two didn't know how to, but you tried it. And soon, it was such an amazing feeling that lingered in your chest. 

~After, I bet you predicted... his face was red. He tried to cover his face after and kept apologizing. 

~It was both laughable and cute to see him in that state.

Kiibo

(His AI hasn’t fully been made quite yet, Team Danganronpa’s keeping him as the audience surrogate but before they do so, they let their robot travel to school to try to learn human emotions, that goes as well as you would expect...)

Kiibo was an odd student who had come towards your school one day, he never spoke like... other kids do, he spoke much more robotically, calculated, emotionless, it was quite... odd to say the least. (But he seemed lonely, so you befriended him, then he asked if you could pursue being his romantic partner!)

He’s quite fine with harming himself for your sake, he doesn’t see his own safety as high priority, saying he’s merely a spare, which you always try to counter but he’s far too good at countering otherwise, he always calls you arguing against him: “highly illogical”.

His hand feels like cold metal, freezing whenever you touch them, so he’s taken to wearing gloves, but even then you can’t help but to feel a chill.

You can tell, he’s really trying his best with this relationship, but he’s very new to being romantic... but he’s trying! He says he can’t buy you anything, nor does he enjoy to eat (thinking about it, you’ve never seen him eat...), so he often sticks to romantic affection like... pressing his lips against yours, holding your warm hand in his cold one even if his body feels like cold metal, you swear you can see him actually smile.

Kiibo never talks to his backround, nor does he ever let you come to his house, he says you would never enjoy his family, that they wouldn’t appreciate you either.

He was odd, Kiibo. But at let he would let you know with the only thing that seemed to confuse him, words of affirmation to prove he loved you ever so often...

“I love you” means a lot in this relationship!

Shuichi Saihara

(An fascinated Ultimate Fanboy of Danganronpa that seems to hate people otherwise, usually has his head tucked into a book so you REALLY wouldn’t know the kind of shit he’s into. He usually uses Danganronpa as a vent towards the weird emotions, has a thing for drafting his execution then gets all excited at the thought of death.)

Shuichi had been the one who showed you around your new school, you truly wanted to know what was under that gaze of his so you chatted with him, it wasn’t actually... pleasant at first, even though with remarks to please “go away”, but soon he found that he couldn’t make you go...! (Actually he wanted you to stay, so he asked if you could date each other.)

Shuichi was an... odd but at first, he talks casually about how your execution would be if you signed up for Danganronpa, going into a disturbing amount of detail, he... oookay, you tried setting him straight on that but he didn’t actually seem to get it?

Shuichi has warm hands, slightly hot even when you put them in yours, he says it’s because his phone usually overheats... yeah that’s understandable.

Shuichi’s way of showing romance is communication, he’s usually not one for physical affection, it’s embarrassing, he prefers if the two of you could just... sit wherever, talk about whatever with no judgement between the two of you, that’s the perfect date in his terms.

Shuichi’s mother was a odd lady, she accepted you into the family as soon as you walked into the house, begging you to take good care of him, your unsure on why the two of them didn’t talk much... but you held back your questions, it clearly made them both uncomfortable.

Shuichi doesn’t say, “I love you” to just anyone, so when he does...

It honestly feels like your flying on cloud-nine, he really only does it if he gets flirtatious or if he’s... really thankful he has something other than Danganronpa to obsess about.

Ryoma Hoshi

(An popular guy that’s pretty much amazing at anything, sports included! Super optimistic at almost anything, he’s planning to adopt a cat and kick some ass when he grows up! Gets... attaches to people easily, really attached.)

Ryoma visited the tennis club, you were the leader so he hadta’ go to you to get taught, n’... things progressed from there! He thought you were a real sweetheart so he asked you out, he was a pretty popular and really really nice guy, so how could you possibly say no?

Ryoma’s a valiant type of guy, he’s the type of guy that would calmly joke about gladly laying his life down for yours as a joke, but... you aren’t sure if he’s joking time to time, really he gets into that knight act.

Ryoma’s hands are... room-tempature, they feel small in yours but he has such a tight grip, but it’s... affectionate, really gentle just as they seem.

He would show romance any possible way he could, if you want compliments? Stellar! You look amazing today, seriously! Hanging out? Perfect! He’s already at your house with the popcorn! Kissing? Great! Your now making out, who cares where?

His house? Why would you two need to go there, ever? Ryoma dislikes his parents, much more so because their easily to... make angry so they usually depress him out (he swears it’s not like that kind of one, here check his arm!), so you’ve never actually met the folks... it’s probably for the best.

Ryoma’s the type of guy who would say “I love you” over a mic overhead to millions of people if he could, he wants to announce his love to the world! Which is you! Yeah he snuck a pick-up line in there...

He’s... one of the good people in a world like this, you know?

Kaito Momota

(A delinquent who never attends class, an avid smoker at that, and the basic definition of what to stay away from at school, he’s surprisingly a loner, a tired one at that who believes effort just isn’t worth it. Kind of... a tsundere, not like anyone can see that considering he has no other friends, unless you count the people he frequently beats up.)

How did the two of you possibly get together, well you had to ask him out, you didn’t think he was that bad... then your friends dared you on top of that, he just said: “sure” and done was done. You were dating, no regrets, nuh-huh.

Kaito jokes about using you as a human shield, you doubt he actually would, honestly you probably be using him as your weapon of mass destruction...

His hands are big in comparison to yours honestly you feel safe with his hands over yours, his are rather cold, but you hear that means they usually have a big heart...? Guess it’s an myth, has to be.

Kaito’s not one for... PDA, he seems to loathe it actually, calls it dumb too, but whenever your alone he loves doing small acts of affection, his face flushes red whenever you hug him back, then trying to push you away, it’s kind of cute...?

Kaito’s stuck with his grandparents, he’s surprisingly really nicer with them around not even grunting once, you can’t help but feel a bit surprised he’s bringing you to them instead of his real family...

He said: “I love you” once, you never let him live it down, every time you say it he feels a little part of him die on the inside.

Guess you shouldn’t completely judge a book by it’s cover, eh?

Rantaro Amami

(Getting back into school after the killing games, he’s a bit broken from his expierences but he tries to hide it off with an unusually big brother attitude. But signs of the killing game remain with how cold he can become within seconds.)

You weren’t that big of a fan of Danganronpa so you hadn’t completely understood why the rest of your class was fawning over him the minute he came into the class, he was uncomfortable so... you comforted him the two of you talked it out, became good friends, then more than that.

Rantaro’s... knightly, you could totally see him joking about him saying he’ll be your knight in shining armor... but he probably let you usurp that role if you just asked.

He feels... kind of natural when you hold his hand, normal, he treats your hand as royalty making sure he doesn’t grip too harshly.

Rantaro loves little acts to show that he cares for you, patting your head, hugging you, pressing a light kiss against your forehead, small “I love you”, little declarations of his affection.

... Rantaro doesn’t actually have a family besides a little sister, they survive on their own on funding given by Danganronpa, it takes everything you have not to pinch that little sweet girl’s cheeks...

Rantaro tells you he loves you daily, he’s a sweet guy, might be the sweetest guy you know.

You love him too, so you remember to tell him yourself that daily too.

Gonta Gokuhara

(A passionate student body president whose trying his best to make friends and keep the school in order, he had a gruff upcoming as a bad doer himself once so he really really wants to change that view about him!)

Gonta Gokuhara was the Class President of your entire class, he was scary to everybody else but you didn’t think looks mattered all that much, and gained the nerve to talk with him, you fell in love instantly when he asked if you needed assistance with your homework.

He would die for you, you actually think he would jump off a cliff if you asked nicely enough, and that’s horrifying. He truly dedicated himself to showing his passion towards this relationship, but maaybe that’s a bit too much passion?

Gonta almost crushed your hand when he took it into his own, he profusely apologized after it, so you... usually hold your hand over his, so it doesn’t get crushed...

PDA isn’t allowed on campus but otherwise it is A-OK! He truly doesn’t mind it then, but he usually just affirms his love by screaming at the top of his lungs that he loves you.

His father isn’t ever home the time you come around, then his mother passed away a while ago, he really wants you to meet the guy he just explains he’s busy a lot... you try to remind him it’s alright!

Gonta Gokuhara screams his declarations of love if you heard me before, I’m serious about it.

Your eardrums feel like their bleeding, they might start if they take anymore of a beating but it’s for love!

Kokichi Ouma

(He’s the leader of the Occult Club, he’s often bullied due to his small stature seems like a timid meek lad, but he can get creepy sometimes... Pretends to be a big evil villain when he gets afraid of his own shadow.)

An member of the Occult Club... Leader of it too, he asked you out one day while shaking like a leaf, how could you possibly refuse when he looked on the verge of tears?

Kokichi can’t actually... defend you, he looks weaker than a twig, you could easily snap his bones with a little: crack if you put a teensy weensy bit of force into it.

His hands are tiny, pale, kind of sweaty and shaky too, you had to hold them tight for them to stop trembling like crazy...

Kokichi’s a sweet guy, he’s bashful but he’s not completely embrassed to show you his love... he... um, gives you small little poems he made, complete with a small little spell that wards off evil, pretty nifty huh?

He lets you come to his house anytime you want, his parents are completely nice people, he even has eight little siblings walking around that don’t really look like him... he did a small cute routine with them, complete with a little pose. (He says they like pretending to be a gang of super bad super villains, he’s the leader of course.)

Kokichi admits he loves you, always in a stuttered weak voice, but when he finally says it he looks somewhat proud of himself...

You really don’t want to know how they’ll take the next phase of your relationship together...

Korekiyo Shinguuji

(A totally normal teenage boy with a bit of a troubled past, he’s a bit lazier than most people, somewhat chiller than most people too, probably pass being stabbed with an: “eh”. He gets sick easily, and lives with his sister.)

He just asked if you wanted to be his ‘one and only’ one day, in the middle of class without a slight change in expression, he shrugged when you asked why but... why would you refuse? He seems pretty cool, so why not? Screw it as they say.

Korekiyo? He’d probably sell you to Satan for a cornchip hadn’t he liked you, he’s on pretty rad terms with you so... he’d prefer you not die...?

... He’s got bandages wrapped all over his hands with many scars, you can feel the scars every time you intertwine your fingers, you can’t help but to wonder on how he got those...

Korekiyo probably shows love in stupid ways with engaging in stupid conversation topics with you, he likes leaning in against you and affection though, don’t get em’ wrong, he just really wants someone to talk to.

His house is completely empty anytime he brings you over besides from his older sister, she’s a pretty nice lady... they seem to have a lovely sibling bond, like nothing could break it.

Korekiyo... would literally choke than admit he loves you, that’s so cheesy thooo... if he... does admit it, that means he’s... likely sad, really sad to actually admit it.

Salutations!!!

My name is Mod Celeste. This is my Danganronpa headcanon blog! Requests are open for the time being. I've been working on them as best I can, but there's quite a few, so it might take me a while to get to each one. Thank you for understanding!

Here is what's in my repertoire:

-Angst (depends on the subject at hand, just describe what you're after!)

-PG-13 type romance, flirting

-If you give me a relatively detailed description, I will do my best with it! But a few general details are fine.

-I'll write confessions, platonic headcanons, letters from characters, relationship hc's for you or your otp or anything of that nature!

-You can ask for three characters at once-- It's a bit overwhelming when there's more! But, feel free to ask for a part 2 with different characters for your request at a later date, if you'd like.

-I'm always open to try new ideas as well!

-Pregame v3 characters. Because there is so little to go off of, it would be complete fanon and I do not want to just make something up!

an arranged affair - chapter 1: the girl of my dreams

a/n: my very late 100 follower celebration! for every 100 followers, a new chapter will be posted! i hope you enjoy

premise: an arranged marriage takes a wild run for young gonta gokuhara, as he deals with love and a chance to be free from his family’s name

the perfect little gentleman.

that was who gonta gokuhara was supposed to be. a perfect little gentleman to appease his parents and be worthy of the gokuhara name. everything he did had to be perfect.

he longed to escape, to flee from his hell and run into the woods. gonta missed the woods dearly. in the woods, he could be himself without fear. he could be happy and free.

yet, life had other plans. 

a plan in the form of a girl named (y/n).

“you’re getting married,” his father informed gonta one tuesday evening in typical blunt fashion. gonta looked up from his book on butterflies and stared at his parents. both parties matched one another with their deadpanned expressions. 

“no, i’m not,” gonta resumed reading his book. his mother gently grabbed the book and snapped it shut. gonta wanted to glare at her but his mother’s cold eyes made him freeze up.

“we have arranged you to marry the eldest daughter of the jaimeson family,” gonta’s mother set the book aside on the table, “their corporation is good friends of our family. it’s only natural that you would marry one of their children.”

“why now?” gonta asked, sitting up from his lounge chair.

“you’re nearing the end of your high school career. you need to start focusing on the future,” his father answered impassively. gonta frowned. that was his destiny, to take over the family business and produce another heir. hopefully, a heir that wasn’t a fuckup like his parents thought gonta was. 

“we’ve arranged the two of you to meet tomorrow,” gonta’s mother handed gonta his book back. gonta grunted and held onto it tightly as a safety blanket. gonta’s father glared at him and continued, “you will be on your best behavior, son.”

“yes, father,” gonta murmured before sticking his nose back into his book.

“tadashi will pick you off from school and take you to see her,” gonta’s mother wrapped her arm around his father’s side, “i wish you the best of luck.”

gonta didn’t need luck, he thought to himself, he needed an escape plan.

if his home life was hell, school was ten times worse. 

attending an international prep school for trust fund brats meant dealing with spoiled assholes with too much money and time on their hands. 

gonta managed to get through his days without people bothering him too much. his size definitely helped with that, a such muscular and tall frame for a seventeen year old boy.

he mainly spent his afternoons reading and watching the clouds roll by while waiting for his personal assistant tadashi to chauffeur around town to his various after school lessons. 

yet, when he went to his usual reading spot, gonta found someone already there. a girl around his age dressed in the prep school uniform sat under the cherry blossom tree, nose deep in a book about beetles. gonta liked beetles, he never met a girl who was interested in beetles before.

“what’s your favorite beetle?” gonta found himself asking the girl. she yelped in surprise and looked up from her book, eyes wide and breath labored. gonta raised his eyebrows at her, “d.. did i scare you?”

“n- no!” the girl replied with a nervous smile, “you just surprised me, that’s all! i didn’t think anyone was out here.”

gonta plopped down on the ground next to her, “i saw the book you were reading. beetles of eastern north america, right? by arthur v. evans? it’s a favorite of mine.”

“really?” the girl looked intrigued, her (e/c) eyes shimmering under the sunlight.

“yes,” gonta attempted to smile. why did he want to smile? that was unusual for him. smiling wasn’t commonplace in the gokuhara family.

“i.. i really like the carolina metallic tiger beetle,” answered gonta. 

“no way!” the girl broke out into a toothy grin, “that’s my favorite, too! besides the hercules beetle- but i mean- who doesn’t like the hercules beetle?”

gonta could feel his cheek heat up when the girl he just met went off on a tangent about beetles. did he just find his soulmate?! this had to be a dream. a cute girl that gonta never met until today talking about beetles? insanity, pure and unadulterated insanity. 

“who are you?”

those words slipped out of gonta’s mouth without warning.

the girl furrowed her brow at gonta and questioned to him, “what do you mean?”

“i mean.. this is the first time i’ve seen you around the school and i don’t know your name..” gonta elaborated to the girl.

the girl merely smiled and answered, “well, i just moved here because of family matters,” she extended a hand to gonta, “and my name is (y/n).”

“that’s a-” gonta pondered on how to reply, “-nice name.”

he stood her hand carefully. (y/n)’s hands were surprisingly soft. did she moisturize? 

“ms. (y/n)!” a woman’s voice called out from afar. (y/n) looked up and sighed at the outline of a woman approaching the two of them, “i got to go.. but i hope to see you again-”

“gonta,” he answered, “my name is gonta.”

“well, i’ll see you around, gonta!” exclaimed (y/n) before running off to the woman who was presumably looking for her. gonta sat there in awe. did he just meet the girl of his dreams?

“mr. gonta?” tadashi approached the young man curiously. gonta looked up and greeted his personal assistant, “hello, tadashi. did i keep you waiting?”

“no, not at all but we should get going,” replied tadashi. gonta nodded in agreement and stood up, walking off with tadashi.

gonta could only hope to see (y/n).

forced into a stuffy tuxedo, gonta found himself dumped outside a five star restaurant. tadashi informed him that his parents set up a reservation inside and that the jamieson girl was waiting inside. 

“is it too late to make a run for it?” gonta asked tadashi with a grumble.

“sadly, no. i do wish you luck,” tadashi reassured gonta. 

gonta took a deep breath and made his charge into the restaurant. immediately, gonta was greeted by violin music and the smell of gourmet food hit his nose. he despised it, every aspect of it was met by hatred. 

“gonta gokuhara?” a waiter greeted him. gonta nodded. the waiter smiled, “ms. jamieson is waiting for you. please follow me.”

gonta followed the waiter up the stairs and to the private floor of the restaurant. only a few tables were there, the floors polished spotlessly and a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. 

“here’s your table, sir.”

gonta stared at the girl standing down at the table.

“gonta?” the girl asked.

“(y/n)?”

there was no doubt about it.

the girl he was arranged to marry.. was the girl he fell in love with.

HAUNTED HOUSES AND MAID DRESSES (PREGAME!GONTA GOKUHARA X READER)

Fate be a cruel being, or at least cruel in the case of second year student Gonta Gokuhara. Yes, it was that time of year at Hoddakido Wakkani Academy, the annual school festival. Sure, Gonta enjoyed the food and the occasional maid cafe, but this year the teacher just had to assign him to work his class’s attraction.

Gonta stood inside the poorly constructed haunted house, his face a shoddy lime green  and rudimentary bolts stuck to each side of his head. A couple of elementary school kids passed by and screamed at the sight, despite Gonta not making a peep. The tall boy let out a sigh, wanting to go home. How did he get roped into this stupid shit?

“Now, you’re Frankenstein!” his classmate Junpei teased him, as Gonta’s other classmates got him dressed for the haunted house.

Gonta shot Junpei a look and grumbled, “Did you even read the book? Frankenstein’s the scientist, not the monster.”

“Whatever, man,” the shorter boy rolled his eyes, “But you look so scary- well, scarier than you usually do,” a couple of Gonta’s classmates snickered at the joke, “Now, go make us some money for our class trip, big guy!”

“Stuck on haunted house duty?” the sweet melodious of (Y/N) (L/N) snapped Gonta out of his thoughts, smiling up at him.

(Y/N) (L/N) of Class 2-A, one of the beloved students in the grade. They were popular, talented, and respected; all things Gonta wasn’t. If it wasn’t for his massive crush on them, Gonta would have surely hated their guts.

“(L/N),” he greeted the shorter student, looking down. However, Gonta was greeted by a sight he wasn’t prepared to see; (Y/N) in a skimpy maid cafe uniform and cat ears.

“Like what you see, big guy?” asked (Y/N) flirtatiously, giving Gonta an eye full of the outfit. 

Only you can call me that, Gonta thought to himself.

“You look nice..” he replied, trying not to stare too hard.

“I’m glad,” (Y/N) chuckled, “I got stuck working my class’s maid cafe but Hana thought it was a grand time to make it a cat maid cafe. She’s such a weeb,” they looked back up at Gonta and continued, “Managed to escape for a bit. Care to join me?”

Was this a dream come true?

Wouldn’t the class get mad for their key to the attraction went missing?

“You know what?” Gonta gave (Y/N) an awkward smile– he would only smile for them– and answered, “Fuck it, let’s go.”

“Good answer,” (Y/N) held out their hand and Gonta timidly took it, being dragged out of the haunted house. Outside the haunted house, Junpei– who was manning the cash register– gawked at the sight of popular babe (Y/N) stealing the class money maker, “HEY! GONTA, DUDE! WHERE ARE YOU GO?!”

Gonta flipped Junpei the birdie and flashed him a peace sign before disappearing around the corner with (Y/N). After awhile, the two made their way to the school rooftop and collapsed near the rails. 

(Y/N) flopped on their back and stared at the clouds, “School’s shit, isn’t it?”

“Even for you?” Gonta joined (Y/N) in cloud gazing. (Y/N) nodded and elaborated to the muscular boy, “Even for me. I may be considered a popular kid but it doesn’t mean I like it here. The people here are shitty.”

“Agreed,” hummed Gonta. He paused and pointed up at the sky, “That cloud looks like a caterpillar, doesn’t it?”

(Y/N) looked at the cloud in question and giggled, “It does! Do you like caterpillar, Gokuhara?”

“...I do,” he hesitated to answer but being around (Y/N) made him feel somewhat relaxed.

“What’s your favorite bug?” (Y/N) asked out of the blue.

Gonta pondered for a moment before replying, “Nosoderma diabolicum.”

“Nosoderma what?”

“Diabolical ironclad beetle.”

“Never heard of it, why do you like it?”

Gonta stared at the sky, “It’s considered the world’s toughest beetle, its exoskeleton being able to within any attack,” and turned to face (Y/N), “I admire its strength and resilience.”

“You know a lot about bugs,” (Y/N) flashed Gonta a warm smile, “I think you would make a great entomologist, Gokuhara. I hope you pursue it.”

Gonta didn’t think much about his future career; after all, people in his life didn’t really give a damn about his interests for him to bloom into a potential career. Yet, with (Y/N), Gonta felt almost.. hopeful.

“What do you want to be when you’re out of school?” asked Gonta, trying his best to make small time with his crush.

“No clue!” (Y/N) let out a laugh and turned on their side, facing Gonta. They added to Gonta, “If I had a choice, I would be a writer but I know my parents are gonna make me do something stupid like be a doctor or a lawyer.”

“..You should pursue writing,” Gonta remembered the poem (Y/N) shared for the school’s annual poetry contest. A first place winner that poem was, it managed to move the hearts of many, Gonta included. (Y/N) looked surprised but concealed it with another laugh, “Maybe.. maybe,” and told Gonta, “We should hang out more, Gokuhara. You’re fun to be around.”

Gonta’s heart skipped a beat at those words, You’re fun to be around.

He didn’t have any friends... could (Y/N) be his first one?
