mike schmidt has a thing for filming.

he’s obsessed with you, sometimes spending time in silence admiring you because he can’t really believe that you’re his. he’s a bit of a loser (affectionate) and an outcast (self afflicted), so he thinks you’re out of his lead. which is why he likes to document your time together as much as he can.

he has a couple of old cameras, just a little under a decade older. they work perfectly fine though, and he always has to take a picture of you with his polaroid or film you for just a few seconds whenever you’re together.

most of the documented content is innocent. you dancing around the kitchen while you help prepare dinner for the three of you (abby is singing in the back of that one). you standing in front of the mirror fixing the final touches on your dallas cowboy cheerleader costume with an infectious grin on your face. you mumbling in your sleep while your head rests on mikes chest.

but a solid amount of the content is mature, hidden away on discs and polaroids and cassettes in a closed box tucked away in a messy corner of his closet.

this content is audio recordings of you begging for mike, your voice high and breathy. he remembers that night, your hands in his hair that was slightly too long at that point. he was between your legs, his mouth just inches away from where you were trying to get him. it felt good for him to have the upper hand in that moment, a cocky smile on his face as he started to bask in the newfound power. it was one of the first times he realized how much he affected you, and he instantly wanted to record it. what the two of you ended up producing was fifteen minutes of you pleading and moaning and borderline sobbing as mike got you off with his tongue.

then there’s the polaroids, the only evidence that frequently makes voyages outside of the old shoe box whenever you’re apart. he has pictures of you with your hands over your face, but a smile clear beneath your palms. these were the ones taken first, before you’d gotten into the videos and cassettes. you were shy then, only giving the camera glimpses of your new lingerie set, which was usually the incentive for mike pulling the camera out in the first place. there’s pictures from when you’d gotten more confident, there’s photos of you post-sex, a loopy lopsided smile on your face, arms thrown over the parts that mattered but you were bare otherwise.

then there’s the ones that are completely debauched. the ones he hesitates to take out in fear that he’ll leave them lying around somewhere. his favorite of the small bunch is of you sitting on his bed, legs spread and bent at the knee, palms pressed into the mattress behind you. your pose itself is almost innocent, a grin on your face as you stare at the camera. you’re clothed too, for the most part, wearing underwear that covers what needs to be covered. but it’s the white spurts that paint your skin that makes this particular picture so raunchy. along your chest, in the center of your underwear, and — his favorite spot — all over your pretty little face, breaching into the baby hairs around your face.

In a piece for The New Inquiry from back in 2017, George Dust states that when queer people complain about there being a top shortage, what they really mean is “nobody is fucking me the way I want, and I have no agency in that.” Alongside co-authors Billy-Ray Belcourt and Kay Gabriel, Dust suggests that many queer people align themselves with a passive or “bottom” position because they believe that role will absolve them of the guilt of really wanting things. They present themselves as what they believe to be the sexual party with zero power; the receiver, the accepter of action rather than its cause.

This position is drawn in contrast to the bottom-identified person’s idea of a top: the one who approaches, the person with hungers and desires, the person who decides which sexual activities will happen and how intense they will get. The top, from this perspective, is the stronger, more capable, more dangerous person. They’re the only one who can ever be guilty of intruding or harming somebody else. This power is scary, but it’s also compelling.

Dust calls this fantastical version of a top a “brute” — and they are the most cartoonish stereotype of what it means in society to be a man. Because it’s a cartoonish stereotype, no human actually lives up to it — and we’d probably revile a person even if they could.

Though queer people know we are harmed by the gender binary and heteronormativity and all the social scripts those things force upon us, its biases are still embossed on our brains. Without meaning to, we reproduce tired gender stereotypes in our relationships. And so we see expressing a sexual want as masculine, and being masculine as being more capable of violence and coercive control, and thus bad. We see failing to communicate one’s desires openly as desirably feminine, as well as a sign of blamelessness and purity — because on some level we still feel it is wrong to have desires.

But this entire worldview is a complete lie. Desire is not evil. Expressing attraction is not a violation. Failing to express oneself can be just as dangerous as not listening to someone else’s limits. Women can be abusive. Bottoms can sexually assault. No matter our gender, presentation, or sexual role, we are each capable of harm. And the only way to make a safe, mutually pleasurable sexual encounter happen is by going after it, actively, and communicating from a position of inner strength.

So how do you do that, if society’s been telling you all your life that you’re meant to date by acting like a deer passively snapping twigs in the woods, waiting for some hunter to hear you, and pursue you? (That really is dating advice that Evangelical Christian counselors give to women, if you can believe it).

By not fixating so much on what you’re doing or not doing to draw other people toward you, and instead thinking in terms of what you want and what you observe beyond yourself.

Create yourself from scratch

You can create your bio from scratch. Yes, it is possible. It doesn't matter what you had in the "past" and "present" (time does not exist, there is only infinity). It doesn't matter the country in which you were born, your date of birth, your ancestry and family, social status, education and career (or lack thereof). Nothing matters if you want to build yourself from scratch. Now only your new story matters.

What does this mean?

I think you already know that anything is possible. Literally. There are no restrictions or clarifications. Yes, you can create in your current reality (I’m not talking about shifting and parallel realities, that’s a different topic, now we’re just talking about creating a new story in the current reality) whatever you want. And in this post, I want to remind you of your ability to create your biography from scratch as one aspect of your limitless possibilities.

Q & A 

How can I do that?

Forget the old story. She never existed. And create your new story. You can review any aspects of your biography (place and date of birth, citizenship, social status, ancestry and family, education, career, appearance, etc.).

Change your assumptions and believe in them. You can also use void state. The main thing is not to complicate it. It shouldn't be difficult for you.

And the most important point: no matter what, never return to the old story. Don't give her power. Believe me, the outside world will definitely show you everything that you have in your imagination. It's easier than it seems.

But other people will remember my old story?

People (like you as a physical object) are an illusion. You can change assumptions about them and their memories, and everything will be according to your script. Don't worry, nothing you don't want will happen.

But how can my current reality adapt to the new story?

You cradle Astarion’s face in your hands, running your thumbs gently over his cheekbones. He looks up at you as though you are one of the gods who’d just given away all your powers just to hold him. His eyes are full of love and adoration.

The dirt of his grave cradles your knees as you kneel with him before the headstone marked with his name. The current year sits freshly carved beside the dates of his old life. The year of his new life. A life no longer governed by fear.

“Are you sure?” you whisper. “Are you sure you want this?”

He holds one of your wrists, keeping your hand in place as he leans into it, brushing his lips across the battle-calloused skin. “Yes.”

“Because we don’t have to. We can wait as long as you need before-”

“Darling,” he softly cuts you off. He smiles. A real, genuine smile. “I want this. I want you.”

You relax into his words, a smile of your own creeping on your face. You nod slightly. He slips your hand from his face and brings it to his lips. His eyes never stray from yours as he places gentle kisses along your knuckles, your palm, and your wrist. Intertwining your fingers together, he lowers your hand in his to his lap and cups your cheek with his other. You look at him like he’s made of pure starlight, as though he’s just come from the heavens to gaze at you like the brightest constellation in the sky.

He leans in slowly until your noses brush, and he stops. He wants this. More than anything. But he doesn’t quite know how. He’s followed a script this whole time - how could he possibly know what’s genuine? His eyes, previously admiring your lips, raise to meet yours. You squeeze his hand, understanding. You make no effort to close the gap for him - you simply wait until he is ready to.

The first time your lips touch, it’s barely a kiss at all. A light brush of lips, testing out the waters, getting a feel to know if this is what he really wanted. And yes, gods yes, it was. He sighs shakily and goes in for more. A proper kiss. Eyes closed, noses side by side. It was still slow, still uncertain, but it was so, so good.

He pulls away minutely so you can catch a breath, and the words fall from your mouth unbidden. “I love you.” A faint whisper in the cool night air. His eyes snap open, studying your face. Before, that admission - a true confession and not some silly lie - would have sent him reeling back, sent him running for any sort of barrier to build between you. But now, he couldn’t imagine a life without them uttered from your lips like a prayer.

He kisses you again, brief but passionate; meaningful. When he pulls away this time, he presses his forehead to yours. “I love you, too. I…” You open your eyes to watch as he finds the words. He sighs quietly, “I mean it.”

You know he does. You smile up at him, bright and sweet, and he can’t stop himself from tasting it. Again and again, until the gravekeeper shouts at you and shoos you off into the dark streets, giggling and holding hands and utterly in love.

He overshares when he's drunk. It's a good look into how his brain works, but he has a 50/50 chance of putting his foot in his mouth

He has a handful of custom spells, one of those being an illusory campsite. Gale's Minor Mirage, he calls it. You're welcome!

The stitch scar on his neck is from being held at knifepoint by a particularly opportunistic thief. Said thief got hit with a lightning bolt

His spellbook is beautifully scripted to the untrained eye, but contains additional notes written in invisible ink. He presents himself as neat and tidy, but his real scribblings are anything but

While inflicted with the Netherese Orb, his blood leaves rashes on other people wherever it touches. Not severe ones, but it doesn't feel pleasant. Like a mild sunburn

Quothe (the raven familiar) is his. It's named that because it loves to listen to Gale read literature (and occasionally recite lines where he leaves off)

He owns a fancy lanceboard set; it was a housewarming gift from his parents when he first got his tower

When he was little, he used to wear a ribbon as a headband to pull his hair back with, and a cape. His hair was fluffy and fell to his chin

The 6th level spell Program Illusion is what appears during his Death Protocol. As it needs to be tied to an area within 30 feet of where it's assigned, it's what his briefs are enchanted with. His reasoning is that he'd always have them, and no one would take them off him while dead

When he's panicked, he burns through the magical item he fed the Orb with faster. That's why he puts such a weight on keeping calm

The reason you have 2 days to resurrect him before exploding, and why he can still live for a bit if you don't give him an item immediately, is because without careful management, it consumes HIM. He has 2 days worth of magic to his person

He doesn't like to turn people down outright. To him, the gentlemanly thing to do is to go on a first date to indulge whomever asked. He's had a lot of first dates

He's been accused of using Enchantment as to why he's so dashing once or twice. It absolutely stoked his ego around his looks

Quipper fish and hundur sauce is the dish he's most proud of, but his favorite is a good slow roast

He'll make illusory ceilings for dates with starry skies and auroras. Maybe floating candles if he's feeling fancy. Yes that extends to the bedroom

If left to his own devices, he will relax in a bath for HOURS. Tara thinks he falls asleep in there (she can't prove anything)

Before the orb, he and his mother had a pseudo-competitive exchange of cookware. They'd take turns making the most ELABORATE dishes in the same fancy glass pan, and send it back and forth trying to outdo each other. Whenever one showed up with the pan, it would always be with a healthy seasoning of smug satisfaction and sweet compliments about the last meal

He likes picnics on the beach. If you show him shells and things he'll happily tell you where they came from

He always dresses just a smidge too warmly for the weather

He can sleep just about anywhere, and frequently does in his tower. It's not good for his back. When Tara finds him, she always tugs a blanket over him

In 1803, a round vessel drifted ashore on the Japanese coast and a beautiful woman emerged, wearing strange clothing and carrying a box. She was unable to communicate with the locals, and her craft was marked with mysterious writing. This story of an utsurobune, or “hollow ship,” in the province of Hitachi (now Ibaraki Prefecture) is found in many records of the Edo period (1603–1868), and Tanaka Kazuo, professor emeritus at Gifu University, has studied the topic for many years. What drew him away from his main research area, applied optics, to investigate this curious episode? And what really took place?

“Like a Flying Saucer”

Tanaka says he began to research the ship after the deadly subway sarin attacks in 1995 by the Aum Shinrikyō cult. “There was a lot of coverage of Aum founder Asahara Shōkō's prophecies and claims to be able to float in the air. Yet the cult’s senior members were part of the scientific elite. I started giving lectures considering paranormal phenomena from a scientific perspective, which meant that I was collecting all kinds of materials for teaching, such as about UFOs in the United States and Japanese folklore. While doing so, I came across the utsurobune legend.” He adds, “Long before the American UFO stories, the craft depicted in Edo-period Japanese documents for some reason looked like a flying saucer. This was fascinating to me.”

UFOs became a modern sensation after the media reported US businessman Kenneth Arnold as having witnessed “flying saucers” on June 24, 1947. A flood of similar stories followed from around the world. Most famously, a UFO was alleged to have crashed to the ground near Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947. “In the end, though, no wrecks or alien bodies were recovered,” Tanaka says. “There was only the ambiguous testament of witnesses. It was the same with all the other UFO stories from around the world—they were mysteries without any substantial evidence. The utsurobune legend, however, has a number of documents to examine as leads, so in this sense, for researchers it’s a mystery with substance.”

A book published in English by Tanaka Kazuo on his research.  There are similar oral traditions about “hollow ships” across Japan in the Edo period. Tanaka’s research is focused on the various documents that describe the 1803 incident in Hitachi and include illustrations of a beautiful woman and a strange vessel, although they cite different dates. One of the best-known sources is the Toen shōsetsu (Toen Stories), an 1825 collection recording fantastic rumors, which was written by the Toenkai literary circle and edited by Kyokutei Bakin, famous for his lengthy historical romance Nansō Satomi hakkenden (The Eight Dog Chronicles). Others are Nagahashi Matajirō's 1844 work Ume no chiri (Plum Dust), as well as collections like Ōshuku zakki (Ōshuku Notes), Hirokata zuihitsu (Essays by Hirokata), and Hyōryūki-shū (Records of Castaways), which gathers stories of foreign ships washed up in Japan and of Japanese sailors who came ashore overseas.

They host charity events around Valentines. Its important to them that people spend the day with their loved ones, but also to make sure that love is shared around everywhere and with everyone. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

They may not be as big readers as the Athena kids, but they do have each their own favourite couple in history and media that they are ride or die for. They can even go toe-toe with Athena's kids in debates over these couples, arguing about their favourite relationship's historical legitimacy/basis or canon. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

Aphrodite kids aren't known for enthusiastically participating in training or camp activities, but like water is to Percy, love is a powerful adrenaline rush. They also perform some really old ancient rites to honour Aphrodite and to ask her to bless their sibling in their relationships future. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

When children of Aphrodite go to battle, they wear something of their lover. Sometimes something simple like a picture of them, favourite jewellery of their lover's, their lover's lucky underwear, a hair piece from their love ect, or it can be as something as intimate as a lock of hair or even an ash diamond (if they've passed away). If they don't have a lover, then they wear something symbolic of their mother for her protection. Most popularly this is a dove feather or pearl jewellery, even both at once.

A flutter of wings through the open window signal the return of her companion. Perching easily on a chair and opening it's beak to release what it had been holding. 'Welcome home. What have you brought me, darling.’ Alice cooed softly as she turned away from her work table. A stroke of her finger over the raven's head before reaching over to pick up the piece of paper that had been dropped on the small kitchen table. An invitation of sorts. Cursive script, soft colored flowers, followed by a date and a time. A grand gathering was happening tonight. A celebration of an engagement that was open to the entire town. But what stuck out to the blonde instantly was the name.

Wynter.

A family she'd kept an eye on for nearly all of her four hundred years of life. The family of her love who'd been snatched away from her. Memories flood her mind, visceral and like they happened just yesterday. Alice took a deep breath, shaking her head to push them away. ‘So, another Wynter is getting married is that right?’ Glancing to the familiar as it shook out its feathers, cawing softly as if to tell her to keep reading. Catching the other name is what gave the witch pause.

o’Brien.

That name haunted her even to this day. Reverend o’Brien had taken everything from her. Alice could feel her blood start to boil just from seeing the name alone. That man condemned her love, a one Tiberius Wynter to a painful, agonizing death all because he could not see that all Alice had been doing was helping people. Tiberius's death was one of many during those years. History books taught all about it to this day. But there was a partial truth to her story. The blonde was a witch, that much was true, born and raised in a coven that believed in the power of nature and healing.

She never hurt anyone, even helped so many of those towns folk heal over her time there. Yet with a simple word from the reverend, they'd all turned against her. Turned against Tiberius and used him as a warning. Burnt her tiny little home to the ground and killed him publicly while she was away. Left him hanging in the town square for all to see. How could a Wynter be marrying an o'Brien? Absolutely absurd. Did they not know the history? Or had they all just simply buried the tragedy over the centuries. No longer wishing to be associated with such a sad and morbid tale.

Alice had stayed away from the Wynter estate ever since Tiberius was murdered, focusing instead on her anger and revenge to the people of Cypress Falls. A dreary and odd town it had become. Superstitions abound, strange happenings. And a new person every year finding home in the sanitorium at the edge of town. Driven mad from hallucinations of an old hag. The occasional sighting of the elusive one eyed raven who now became synonymous with bad luck and death. That same bird stared at Alice from across the table. In the home that she had to rebuild from scratch. Tossing the invitation back on to the table the witch squared her shoulders. 'Well, I haven't been to a ball in sometime. Shall we dress up and pay the manor a visit Narcissus?' There would be no such wedding. Not while she was alive and could prevent it. No Wynter would mingle with the people who caused her so much pain. // @wynterhxney

My best friend has Gemini over her 12th house, and I’m a Gemini Venus. I always said to her that her spirit guides know me, and in fact they talk to me to get messages to her. It makes sense given our shared 12th house placement. She has Saturn over her 12th house and found it difficult to communicate with the spirit realm. But through me, it’s like I’m the gateway to her receiving the messages she needs to hear. Straight up, spirit talks through me like a normal person.
