Since Luffy wasn’t able to move after knocking out Lucci, I actually consider this more of a tie. If it weren’t for the rest of his crew, Luffy absolutely would have died, even if he technically got the knockout.

The difference is pedantic, but in my mind it adds a nice little arc to the power scaling of the Grand Line. Luffy up to this point was able to beat the big bads by closer and closer margins until he fights Lucci to a draw. Then during Thriller Bark he wins due to an outside, one time powerup in Monster Luffy, only for his luck to absolutely run out at Sabaody.

And the power scalers are back at it again on TikTok about Law Vs Blackbeard, I can't do this shit anymore.

Some shit opinions I've seen because apparently people lack critical thinking skills:

"Blackbeard won low diff" (some people watch things with their eyes closed apparently)

"Law doesn't know how to use his df to the maximum efficiency" (not even going to dignify this with a rant)

"law is at the same level that Sanji is" (this is actually an insane take because we're talking about someone who took down a Yonkou and who literally had to step in to save Sanji from Doflamingo in dressrosa)

"law's crew is useless" (they ignored the fight, a fight may I remind people they were forced to engage in, no preparation whatsoever, also, obviously not every crew can be Luffy's crew level, otherwise they wouldn't be the main crew)

"Law is a fraud" (you know you can just not like a character without needing to put the character down or say facts that aren't true )

"Law shouldn't be worth 3billion berries" (no yeah, you're right, technically he should be worth more because of how much his devil fruit is worth in the underworld but obviously they gave him the same as Luffy and Kid to show that Captain wise they're basically at the same level, bounties are nit only about brute strength, Kid is worth that much because on top of defeating a Yonkou with Law he is brutal in his treatment of people, Luffy is powerful AF and always willing to go toe to toe against injustice and the World Government and Law is powerful and also dangerous due to his use of strategy and the knowledge he accumulates and then obviously the fact his df is worth more than his current bounty)

"The op-op would probably be more powerful if someone else had it instead of Law" (oh I'm sorry, are we not watching the same anime and reading the same manga, Law literally can get his fruit to that extent because of his insane level of knowledge of medicine and the human body and because of his resourcefulness and intellect, I don't think there's a better fit for that fruit than Law)

If Adam falls how strong would he be?(ported from Ao3)

So Adam is pretty strong and I’m tired of people pretending otherwise. First, when we see him when he sings “Hell is Forever” He shows he can make a hologram? Astral projection? I don’t know, he makes a visual copy of himself that is incorporeal, but we then see that he can choose to make it interact with objects which is fucking terrifying as a concept, I mean look at poor Charlie’s eyes when she realizes he could have hurt her at any point.

Then we see him create these golden exorcist clone things that are pretty neat, they seem to be capable of just about everything a normal exorcist is, and this seems to have no strain on him physically or mentally as he is able to play the guitar and sing while doing this (and they are moving around and dancing while he does that).

Then he creates clouds which suggests he can just….choose to manipulate the weather(scary for several reasons). And obviously he can fly just like any other angel, although we see both him and Lute float and fly without their wings moving so maybe they are just magic bullshit??

We also see Adam is capable of spying on people(at least in hell) and apparently they just have no way of noticing that? He can also create portals which is always a fun ability (once again he can do all of this with no visible strain). He can also summon his golden guitar axe, which is a holy weapon and can also shoot a projectile slash which has decent range. And said axe wounded Alastor enough (with one slash) that he decided to leave.

But his trump card is absolutely the giant fuck off beams of light. One burst vaporized Pentious and his blimp, and while using two hands the beam was capable of slicing through the whole hotel and the hill it stood on. And once again Adam didn’t appear drained by doing ANY of that, I mean he immediately goes to attack Lucifer after that.

Adam also withstood several hits from Lucifer, who is the strongest being in hell, and Adam got back up. Even after Lucifer entered his more serious form, Adam got back up after getting hit several times in the face by said form, so clearly Adam is durable on top of all that. Hell, he even shows a pretty high pain tolerance, because Charlie stabs him through the arm and he gets up after that and his first reaction was to gesture at the wound like he was upset it stained his clothes. I mean you could chalk that up to shock but he keeps fighting after that and then fights Lucifer.

And then the cherry on top is that both Lucifer and Alastor comment on how Adam is ‘sloppy’ or has ‘let himself go’. Like, that implies this isn’t Adam at his strongest.

I don’t know if I missed anything but these are the things that came to me off the top of my head. Now, keeping all of this in mind, how powerful would Adam be as a sinner? Because we see several sinners become extremely powerful after entering hell, some seemingly just arriving with new scary powers. All of Adams talk about being the first man is NOT for show. If that’s the power he got upon entering heaven, surely entering hell would lead to similar results. Sure, he’d probably lose his divine abilities but I think he’d gain quite a bit in exchange.

Now that’s if he’s a sinner but there is another possibility. What if he were a fallen angel like Lucifer? Because we see despite Lucifer’s falling he still can summon these golden instruments, which just so happen to look an awful lot like Adams guitar. This implies that Adam should, in theory, be able to keep similar angelic abilities despite falling, hell he might even gain some more demonic ones due to this change (maybe it would result in him losing some oomph from his divine abilities? Lucifer seems to prefer fire but we don’t know what he had before).

But all of this is to ask what you guys think his abilities would be like, there are no wrong answers I just want to hear everyone’s opinion on this.

Although I should mention there is a clear division in what is just “for show” and what Adam can actually do during musical sequences, we see the abilities I’ve listed even after those scene transition bits so I’m saying those are real and the ones that happen purely for visual effect are just that, purely visual.

Okay, I don't normally do the whole "Would X character beat Y character in a fight?" Discourse.

Mainly because power scaling is nonsense and irrelevant when the answer is always either 'The writer's favourite' or 'What makes the most sense narratively' and honestly trying to match up the different metrics for power doesn't make sense most of the time.

But....

Given that every superhero or superhero adjacent franchise has a Superman analogue there is one question I've gotta ask?

"Are there any Superman archetype characters who couldn't kick the shit out of Homelander?"

.....Seriously, maybe he'd beat the kid from Brightburn but beyond that I'm struggling to think of anyone.

This week on OP twitter some people tried to do an intelligence scalling with the Straw hats. I think it's unuseful and kind of dumb, because all of the characters are smart in their own area.

So here's the counter scalling list :

Robin : she was a child archeologist, she lived for year in secrecy, can read the ponegliffs, knows a lot about history and use her knowledge to make hypothesis.

Since I saw people trying to compare Nio Robin and Franky while we all know those two like to Kiss, now here's Franky.

Franky : Bro has built himself after being Run over by a train. He's not jus a cyborg he turn himself into one.

Usopp : not only Usopp is the only one to have some common sense he's also a sharp shooter and that's not thanks to luck. Bro is calculating is shot, trajectory, speed ect plus he is a great inventor ( he made the climat bâton )

Nami : talking about the climat bâton, you have to be extremlly well verse in climatology and meteorology to use it. In addition to that she's an amazing navigator, and she makes great maps

Sanji : to be able to do all of this receipes, to make them both for taste and nutrition value and to be able to master the receipes of Kamabakka kingdom while fighting is amazing.

Chopper : Do I need to explain why the doctor is intelligent ?

Brook : he's a music genius as shown by his career as soul King as well as his use of music during battle

Luffy : I think we can call it something like emotional intelligence (I guess ?) Bro seem to know thing about people they don't know themselves yet , he's so aware

So in Like a Ryu go Yakuza games, a member of the Amon clan serves as the bonus boss, fought when the hero is at the peak of their power. Therefore, 1 Amon = 1 protagonist.

Ichiban and his crew aren't as strong as the typical protagonist, but they work together as a team. Despite the 4 character active party limit, it's assumed everyone is fighting at once. In the first game, it took 7 party members to take down Jo Amon. That makes Ichiban equal to 14% of an Amon.

However, in Infinite Wealth, you fight 4 Amons at once. Assuming cancer has brought Kiryu down to the same level as Ichiban's party, it takes 10 party members to take down 4 Amon.

This means that as of Infinite Wealth, Ichiban is 40% as strong as Kiryu was at his peak.

My favorite power system comes from Infamous and I’m shocked more people haven’t caught onto it. Conduits are named as such because everyone with a power uses something that can be channeled and taken. Examples:

Cole fires electricity but he doesn’t just generate electricity, he takes it from electrical equipment and in a storm he can absorb Lightning and call it down like he was Zeus.

Another named Joseph Bertrand can twist and control flesh including the people around him. Often turning them into mutant monsters and would turn himself into a giant monster

Lucy Koa has ice powers and does this by absorbing heat from the air. Because of this her arms are always slightly iced over because the air around her is always cold just like with Cole he has a constant surge of energy in him that water can be dangerous to him and others and he once tried to sit in a car only for him to accidentally cook off the fuel tank.

You get the idea. The concept of getting god like power siphoned from a specific source is fascinating to me and creates fun limitations because it has to work within what that is. Theirs no limits to this because some are incredibly specific like an assassin who has power over paper. This doesn’t sound impressive until you see you disappear into a cloud of papers and float away on the wind, fold paper so many times it functions as bullet proof armor and control paper with such precision that she can kill people in a cloud of paper with precise paper cuts. Theirs also a kid who can control Video which doesn’t sound impressive until you see him teleport through TV Screens and create Hard Light holograms to create an army of angels to command. His go to move when in a fight is to encase himself in hard light to turn into a giant Angel with a building size sword.

Conduits when experienced enough are practically gods. I love specific and highly restrictive power systems because you have to be clever in order to make them work.

Fun Puyo Puyo Fact for you power scalers out there.

The more Ls one takes one after the other the stronger they are. Because in general, the loser gets exhausted after losing, meaning they don't have it in them for a rematch. So getting back on their feet is impressive.

Lemres, Possessed Klug, Satan, Ecolo, Ex, Marle, and Squares all operate(d) on this.

Squares in particular was on steroids, like 8 losses so close to each other. The one time he did one Marle was holding back.

To be fair the last few weren't hostile but he's still outdoing Satan.

Satan's highest losing streak was either 4 or 5 in 20th's final story. It's legit nothing to him. He can keep on playing until you're exhausted at winning. (Someone turn that into a comedy fanfic, please... or a dramatic one.)

Doppelganger Arle I guess is a glass cannon retroactively. She took one defeat and bolted out of there. Which is a little amusing.

And Rafisol perhaps shouldn't be judged by the same standards. She's a final boss in an RPG. The numbers she has should speak for her. Though it was 3-v-1.

The point of this post is I just find it funny that you can tell who's strong overpowered if they lose and go "That didn't count, let's go again!" It's inherently oxymoronic.

But in most if not all cases it does show it shows those guys are decent people.

Satan usually just leaves it at one match. Despite him being the one most capable of abusing it, it is often casually implied he is the strongest there is after all. Nobody comes close, even steroid Squares.

Possessed Klug loses one after the other, it's just Sig and Raffina bolt out of there before he can get up and rechallenge them. And maybe PKlug could have another go if Amitie didn't go:

He is brought down on his knees 3 times though. But that could mean anything.

I think Lemres reached more than his limit after all of the Fever 2 Waku Waku Courses because he's absolutely wrecked. He Puyo'd too much in the sun.

The Squares gauntlet is more about trying to de-escalate him than actually fighting Squares. But also demonstrates the BS "that didn't count" thing to its logical extreme. Satan could be that if he wanted too, but unlike Squares he isn't attempting to do something evil.

Only about 5 or 6 matches Squares partakes in are actually serious. He is successfully convinced he did a bad eventually, and the final few matches aren't antagonistic as a result.

Honestly, now that I think about it. The fact losers are kinda drained by a losing a Puyo match, and Squares almost exploding because he had too much power, would imply the final battle, a skill battle, is everyone Puyo-ing him at once to curb his powerful tummy ache. (I mean that's always stated, just I have more clarity now I think.)

Besides maybe Tee I think everyone else just doesn't rematch after a loss. They are consistent about this.

I'm not into power scaling persé, I don't like rating things like that and deciding who or what is only worth my time. That's reductive and dumb taking things with personalities, experiences, stories, and lore into account especially.

But I think it says something about these strong characters that's more than "Satan could beat Goku".

Ecolo and Satan, the two most recurring ones that can pull the "That didn't count" but usually don't tells us a lot about them.

That and as I said I find it funny. This is like so funny, flies in the face of logic. The more you lose in quick succession the stronger you are.

Also it's a Puzzle game, Satan may have the highest AI, but that still put him on equal grounds with Onion Pixie.
