The Power Of Thought

Do you really know the power of your thoughts? While light travels at the rate of 1,86,000 miles per second, thoughts virtually travel in no time. Thought is finer than ether, the medium of electricity. If the mind dwells continually upon one train of thought, a groove is formed into which the thought-force runs automatically and such a habit of thought survives death and since it belongs to the ego, is carried over to the subsequent earth-life as a thought-tendency and capacity. Every thought has got its own mental image. The essence of the various mental images formed in one particular physical life is being worked out in the mental plane. It constitutes the basis for the next physical life. Just as a new physical body is formed in every birth, so also a new mind and a new Buddhi are formed in every birth. Not easy is the act of explaining the detailed workings of thought and destiny. Each thought is a link in an endless chain of causes and effects, each effect becoming a cause and each cause having been an effect; and each link in the endless chain is welded out of three components—desire, thought and activity. A desire stimulates a thought; a thought embodies itself as an act. Act constitutes the web of destiny.

Check Your Mouth

If you have confessed Christ as Lord and Savior, some things have to be unacceptable to you. One of those things should be what and how you speak.

We know that our tongues hold power. Not any kind of power, but the power of life or death (Proverbs 18:21). It is NOT okay to speak death and expect goodness to wash over the land. You eat the fruit that you speak.

So today I ask you, what are you speaking? How are you using your words?

Take an inventory. Lately, my mind has been on words that have been said by Christians. I know we go through hard times, that we are human, and nobody is perfect. However, that is not an excuse!

This is not to bear a record of wrongdoings, but to acknowledge a problem and turn away from it. I have heard more from believing brothers and sisters phrases like,

"You just never hear anything good anymore."

"It's always bad news!"

"Things are only going to get worse."

"Prices will only get higher."

Listen, shh! The saying is "if you have nothing nice to say don't say it at all." But no! If you have no life to speak then just keep quiet.

We have to remember that the power of life and death is in the power of our tongue and that God gave us a choice to choose life or death, blessings or cursings (Deuteronomy30:19). He tells us to choose life, but you have to make that choice.

Will you make the choice today, to stop speaking like unbelievers and talk like the believer you are? Don't allow the things of this world to steal your hope and your joy. Jesus is still our good news!

Check your inventory. What have you been negative about? Murmuring and complaining about? Gossiping about? Give it to God and ask His forgiveness. Turn from it and do what it is that's right.

Speak with hope, authority, love, peace joy!  Be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2), pray, repent, speak and choose LIFE! It matters what you speak, it matters what you think, it matters what you do, and it matters what you condone.

Remember, we are not of this world. We are set apart. There should be a clear recognition of our difference in the words we speak and the way that we live. Keep God first, pray, love, and speak life.

But no! If you have no life to speak then just keep quiet.
