THE JOY OF LIFE LEGACY CHALLENGE! Generation One: The Baker Extraordinaire

There was a warmth and coziness in rolling out dough, mixing up frosting, creating masterpieces with a piping bag. Most of your days are spent whipping up new creations in the kitchen, enjoying the smell of a delicious apple pie baking in the oven. You dream of having everyone know your name and saying their cupcakes are the best I've ever had!

Every day felt like an endless loop; Suzume (Suzy) was so lost in life working her office job in a busy, foreign city. Then one day she had enough and wrote her resignation letter.

Hoping to rediscover her true self, Suzume returned to her quiet hometown of Mt.Komorebi, which she missed dearly. Her first stop was visiting her favourite childhood bakery; to her surprise, it had been closed for years and is now abandoned. Unfortunately, the previous owners were too old to carry on the business and no one was interested in buying the property...and that was when she set a new goal for herself. By restoring the bakery, she hopes to bring back everyone's memories and make many more for the future ahead!

So I wanted to play another story based gameplay alongside my postcard legacy and the joy of life legacy was the perfect choice!

the rms carinthia art card by james mann, postmarked 8 mar 1934

this card was sent by sid gary, a minor celebrity known in the '20s and '30s for his radio performances, vaudeville acts, and “powerful baritone voice.” in the second week of march 1934, he was heading the bill at loew’s century theater in baltimore, performing “ballads and impersonations of popular singers.” it is unknown if the “cunard line programs” he mentions were radio-based, or whether he was an entertainer aboard.

was talking with someone about themes/aesthetics and their rise in public conscious, and it made me curious about how much to generalize my own perception of them so-

do me a favor and tell me-

1) did your middle school/high school bedroom have a curated theme or aesthetic?

2) how old are you? (you can be vague and say generation if you prefer)

#i'm in my 30s #and no not at all #my walls were blue because i liked blue #wall decorations were just things I owned that i liked #so a mishmash of posters; postcards; pictures; ticket stubs; art made by friends; magazine cutout; etc etc #things just got put up where space allowed #furniture and bedding was what was available in the house #the few times i was able to pick out my own bedding I just got whatever choice I hated the least from target #the idea of curating my space otherwise #of hunting for decor that would fit a theme #or only putting out on display what belongings/decorations fit together aesthetically #just was not something that would enter my world until much later in life #and in my memory none of my friend's bedrooms were highly curated in that way either #it feels like that's more common now #but like in movies from the 90s and 00s there were certainly aesthetic rooms #so maybe it was just not a thing for me personally?
