There is no one coming for Tony Stark, he gets that early enough.
Seven and being fed lines at gunpoint. Rescue doesn't come for days until the kidnappers grow sick of his weeping and leave him alone, giving him enough time to wiggle his way out through the vents.
Fourteen and sporting a broken limb, face marked black and blue. The man with a hook for right hand listens to Howard Stark's "we don't negotiate with terrorists" speech and comes back with a meat cutter, only to find a rigged smoke bomb and a vindictive teenager with a makeshift taser.
Twenty-one and Ty's filming him, his moaning and crying and the press has a field day dissecting the whore of a man the Stark heir has become.
Twenty-two and there's a bottle, or seven, and needles going into his arm, a broken piano and a shattered will. Tony Stark is a broken man.
But nobody comes.
Thirty-nine and he's under water, a hole in his chest and a car battery that's keeping his heart ticking. There's him and a dying old man. There's him and the suit and a torch of vengeance he carries out to the desert.
Forty and he has a time bomb in his chest—
Nobody comes.
He knows this.
He knows this.
Nobody ever comes.
Tony Stark is destined to die alone.
Forty-five and trapped inside a bunker, cold and frozen, held at gunpoint by wayward scientists and soldiers. His suit of armor is scrap metal. The numbness crawling over his chest.
Nobody's gonna come.
Rhodey's not awake.
Pepper's not aware.
Vision...
Nobody's coming on time.
Except, there's a knife and a scream and the blinds are ripped from his eyes with ferocious gentleness. There's ice and cold and storm-weathered eyes peering into his soul.
"How bad," Barnes asks him. But all Tony sees is a blood-soaked knife and scattered bodies. All he sees is Barnes and his bleeding rage coiled tight around his shoulders and Tony is a broken clock. He doesn't know what day it is. He can't guess because Barnes looks just the same as the day he last saw him.
"How long?"
"Too long," he hears when he stumbles into his rescuer's hold, shivering and weightless, disoriented and so, so confused.
Nobody should have come. Yet outside, there's an army. Slaughtered and thrown about. And Barnes walks unhurried, his arms secure around his cargo. A predator carrying his trophy for the hunt.
Nobody's supposed to come. But Barnes did.
Tony wonders why.

Steven Rogers, James Barnes, and Sam Wilson sat in front of the man all in guilty silence.
He sat in front of them with hatred and rage.
"You killed my wife. You killed my son. You killed my daughter. You almost killed me. If Mr. Stark had not found me buried under a shit ton of debris I would be dead right now. But I'm just a number. A casualty. A blank face."
With each sentence this man got louder and more violent. Barnes flinched. Rogers stared at the floor. And Wilson just held in his sobs.
"I'll never get to see my kids graduate from highschool. I'll never get to see my baby girl get married. I'll never have grand kids. I'll never get to grow old with my WIFE!! Because you all think you're some perfect person who does no wrong! Who thinks it's okay that you lived and everyone else dies!"
The man's rant was cut short thanks to a violent coughing fit. Tony gently helped him through it. Tony had promised the man that he would get his justice. That his family would get justice. The man, James Morgan, only wanted one thing.
"I want to know what was so important about this murdering son of a bitch that you costed my family their lives! I want to know just why you thought you could justify killing them! Why?! What's so special about this bastard that my kids had to die?! To never grow up?!"
James coughed again. He also sobbed. He had no legs. They had been crushed by a piece of the overpass from the knee down. He was too scared to go under bridges, too traumatized. He had to quit his job as a nurse because he couldn't stand the sight of blood anymore.
"I still see my Emily's bloody face. Her eyes full of blood and tears staining her cheeks. I still see my baby girls impaled body leaned against the back of her mother's seat. I can't stand to think about my boy. Do you know what it's like to be stuck physically and hear your child scream for you? Do you? My little boy, screaming his tiny lungs out because his arm was pinned by glass and his stomach was filling with blood."
Barnes flinched and shook. Wilson was doing his best to keep from vomiting. And Rogers just stared more. James looked at the man he once admired, who his son idolized. And felt nothing but hatred.
"You talk about how 'the safest hands are your own'. When the safest hands kill the people you're supposed to protect, who protects those people from you?"
James felt the emotions drain away from him. He got to say what he wanted. And Tony had already promised that these three would never hurt anyone else like they had his wife and children. He wasn't expecting these murderers to admit their guilt. They never had in the past. He looked at Tony and nodded.
"I have nothing else to say."
He said softly and the other brunette nodded in understanding. James Morgan, now a widower, was wheeled out of the room in silence. His sobs heard the entire way by those he passed.
______
Wanda Maximoff was led into a room with two children. Twins she had been told.
Orphans.
The boy, rendered mute thanks to too much dust getting into his throat. And a girl, losing her left arm after it was burnt too badly to fix.
When the boy saw her, his eyes widened and he grabbed his sister and pushed her behind him. Moving them both to a further corner away from the red head. Maximoff tried to get closer but the little girl wailed.
"MOMMY! DADDY! Help! Someone help!"
She wailed. The boy, despite his brave front, was shaking like a leaf. The girl wailed and begged for help. When Pepper entered the room the little girl waddled over to her and begged to be picked up. Her face red with tears running down her face.
"I want my mommy!"
Her tiny lungs heaved with the force of her cries. The boy ran over and hid behind the other red head's legs. Tears of his own streaming down his face silently. Maximoff watched all of this.
"Did Stark do this?"
She only got an even louder wail as her answer. Then, two other adults entered the room. Pepper gently coaxed the wailing girl to the female. But the boy was harder to move. Whenever Maximoff would try to help, he only clung to Pepper tighter.
"Get away from Brandon! No! Stay away from my brother!"
Maximoff was stunned. The girl was trying to get down to protect her brother. From her.
The boy, Brandon, took her distraction as a chance to dart to the man behind the other woman. Hiding behind his legs and gripping his pant leg tightly. Pepper looked at Logan and Jean and the two X-Men led the children out of the room.
"The one who orphaned them was you, Miss Maximoff. The one who disabled them was you. The one who traumatized them was you. The one who found them was Tony. The one who had to keep them from looking behind them, to keep them from further trauma at the sight of their parents, was Tony."
Pepper said this with a monotone voice. She kept eye contact with Maximoff and watched as the fight left the other woman.
"You sent their home into the building next to it. It crushed their father to death. You caused both to catch fire. It burned their mother alive. They survived because Tony had heard Brandon screaming for his sister's life. She was unconscious and bleeding. Brandon will never speak again because that fire blew smoke and dust into his lungs and throat. And Maria, the little girl, won't let those two they left with out of her sight."
Pepper looked deep into the other's eyes.
"Because the red lady took her parents away."
Maximoff sobbed softly to herself. Pepper left her there without another word. When she opened the door, Maximoff was left to listen to the heartbreaking wails of little Maria.
_______
Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff were sitting in a room silently. They had been told that they had someone that want to talk to them. When the door was opened, a woman was led into it. A teenager walked with her. Her hands were shaking violently. James Rhodes walked in with them, holding a Baby Carrier with him.
"Barton and Romanoff, this is Agatha Lopez. She is the Widow of Agent Markus Lopez. And this is his eldest son Jackson, and his youngest son Ethan."
James introduced the three. Both the spies where confused as to why this lady needed to talk to them. Did she need their help?
"What can we do for you Mrs. Lopez?"
Barton asked. The widow was still shaking too badly. So Jackson Lopez spoke.
"You worked for Shield right?"
His question was answered by twin nods. And both had to jump back when Jackson punched Barton in the face and almost hit Romanoff too. Vision entered the room and gently but firmly held him back.
"You Fucking Bastards! You killed my Dad! You Killed him! He promised to come home and you killed him! I hate you!"
Jackson got so loud and violent, it woke Ethan up. The baby wailed and it seemed to snap Jackson out of his tirade. The older boy stiffened and darted to James' other side to gently pick his brother up and rest him in his arms. Agatha was silent the whole time.
"Mrs. Lopez you need to keep your son under control."
Barton said and that got him a nasty glare from the teenager.
"Shut the fuck up. You have no right to order my Mom around after the hell she's been through. She just got out of the fucking Hospital thanks to your little info dump."
Jackson sat down and rocked his baby brother back to sleep. Vision rested a gently hand on his shoulder and it seemed to soothe the boy. The two agents were stunned. This was a victim of the info dump? They could see it now. Scars lined her neck and wrists. She was refusing to look around but her eyes laid on her two sons.
"I'm sorry, Jackie."
Was her near silent whisper. Jackson shook his head.
"Mom you don't need to apologize. It's okay. Doctors said you need rest anyway."
Jackson moved and slowly hugged his mother, careful of his little brother. Agatha carefully took her youngest and rocked him gently. Jackson turned to them again.
"You owe my family more than just a fucking apology. You made my mother a widow. And now Ethan will never get to know his dad. You almost made me and my brother orphans if Mr. Stark and Mr. Rhodes hadn't gotten there when they did."
The boy had rage in his eyes. The only thing stopping him from jumping the table was his mother. She couldn't handle the loud bang of a table being knocked over.
"Thanks to you, my mom may never handle loud noises the same without thinking it's a fucking gun shot. Cause she had to watch as my dad was shot right in front of her after he refused to snitch on your asses."
Jackson felt the anger fill him again and was thankful Mr. Vision had not let go of his shoulder. He probably would have tried to give the blonde bitch a matching black eye to the other.
"You're paying for my mom's medical bill. You're paying for my dad's funeral. And this time, Tony is not allowed to help you. He's already helped enough. Saved me and my baby brother from becoming Hydra soldiers."
Jackson stood up slowly, gently taking his mother's fragile arm and getting her to stand. He took Ethan and placed him in his Carrier. He nodded to Mr. Rhodes and guided his mother out. The Colonel followed behind him with Vision not far behind. Leaving the two Shield agents to sit in shock and horror at what could have happened if Tony hadn't been fast enough.
______
Tony gently hugged Mrs. Lopez. He guided her to sit on the couch in the common room. Jackson was getting her medicine for the pain in her arms and back. Ethan was sleeping soundly in his Carrier as little Maria watched him. Brandon was with James Morgan as the older man taught him sign language. Ever since meeting these few victims, Tony could not just leave them to suffer alone.
Mrs. Lopez's home had been burned to the ground. She had no family to go to as her parents had passed away and her husband's parents were too old to be able to take care of a baby while she was at physical therapy. Jackson still had highschool so he could only take care of his brother after he got home.
James Morgan had no legs and no job. His phobia of blood making it hard to work as a nurse or near a hospital. But he still helped the best he could. Tony was going to offer him a job as a teacher in the Avengers Initiative. Many heroes, super human or not, could learn a thing or two from him.
The twins, Maria and Brandon Simmons, had mutant powers. Maria was telepathic, though she wore a necklace her mother made that helped block it. Brandon was able to create explosions with his hands if he thought about it hard enough. But like his sister, he had a necklace that blocked it. Professor Xavier was going to send Jean Grey and Logan Howlett in one week a month to help them build their powers.
Once they were old enough he would collect them from the Tower for proper training and education. As they were only eight. Although Maria was still very against either of them leaving so soon. Since they had been there with the twins since they were found. Neither X-Men minded.
Tony wasn't sure how Jackson Lopez was mentally. He had suffered trauma at the hands of Hydra after his father's identity was leaked. The Latino boy was tense when his mother was gone for longer than he had been told. More than once Vision had been called to gently calm him down from a panic attack or raging fit. It seemed the android was the only one who calm the teenager down. Despite the former's inexperience with emotions.
"You're not gonna let em walk free are you?"
Tony looked at Jackson as he walked over. The seventeen year old was slower than the stories Agatha told him. Tony guessed it was because he didn't want to startle his mom.
"No. They'll get long sentences."
That seemed to satisfy the boy. He went on to help his mother with her medicine. Tony's attention went to James Morgan. The other man was quietly teaching sign language, his eyes fond but full of grief and sorrow. Brandon seemed to help. Maria was quietly rocking the baby in his Carrier. Cooing over how tiny he was and getting a small smile from Agatha.
Yeah, the Accords will be able to prevent things like this from ever being normal when heroes went to save the day. Tony rubbed Agatha's back. Seeing these few victims of his former team's mistakes, he couldn't help but wonder if it could have been prevented. If Maximoff never sided with Ultron, the Simmons Twins would have their parents. If Barnes had surrendered, James would have his life and his family. If Romanoff and Rogers had asked him for help, Agatha wouldn't be a widow.
Then Jackson wouldn't have to act as the man of the house. And Ethan would not have to grow up not knowing his father.
Tony promised himself and them that the Rogues would never harm another family.
He promised them they would get their justice.
He promised.

Hi! For the ficlet prompts: 9. "Don't do this alone." Please and thanks?
Quick Ficlet List
Thank you so much for sending in a prompt, Cee! 🥰 Here's a ficlet that's longer than I expected it to be 😂 I hope you're fine with a post-Civil War ficlet. Also, this turned out much more hurt comfort than I expected, I hope that's okay 😅
"Don't do this alone."
Sam tended to find high places. He always had, ever since he was a kid. It felt a little ironic. His family found their life on the ocean, yet he was always looking for a tree to climb, a roof to lay on, a rafter to hang off of.
And Sam would say that it was surprising that he was doing that now, but Sam didn't really want to analyze himself at the moment.
"Sam?"
Sam hadn't really thought about where he was. All he knew was that there was no way he was ever going back home.
They had offered deals to Scott and Clint. They had families. Not Sam, though. Not Uncle Sam. Sam wondered if he would take a deal if they gave him one. An absurd deal after they illegally kept him in a super secret underwater prison for a crime that wasn't really a crime.
Would Sam take such a deal?
Of course he would.
Of course he would to see Sarah and her family again, make sure they were okay, and Sam felt ill knowing that. Because he wasn't sure if that was wrong or weak or good of him, but he would take a house arrest deal in a heartbeat if they offered him one.
"Sam, I'm coming up."
Sam wasn't even sure why he was thinking about this. It had been months since Steve got him out of the Raft. It had been at least a year since he disappeared from Sarah's life with only news stories and a very short call from Steve, Nat, and Bucky about what actually happened.
It isn't even as if Sam hadn't talked to Sarah since he was freed. He had talked to her and Jody just moments ago.
Or was it five minutes ago?
An hour?
He'd talked to her a handful of times since he escaped the Raft, but it only clicked this time that Sam would probably never see his nephews grow up. He wouldn't be there if Sarah or Jody needed him, if something happened to either of them.
Sam couldn't breathe.
Sam heard half a row of books topple to the ground. Wincing smacks and slams that reminded Sam how old some of the texts were.
That reminded Sam that he was currently curled up in the corner of one of the largest libraries he had ever seen. A multistory behemoth of a library off in the far corner of the Citadel.
Giant, sturdy shelves filled its walls. Sam wasn't sure how he found himself tucked in one of the highest shelves in the library nor how it was holding him up or even fitting him, but he was there.
"Sam?"
And somehow Bucky Barnes of all people was there too.
"I heard you were up here," Bucky said as if this was normal.
Sam didn't want this. He didn't want Bucky there. He didn't want anyone. He wanted to curl up into a ball and disappear. He wanted to bury himself in this shelf and never think again.
Sam wanted to go home.
Sam wanted Bucky there. He wanted to fling himself at this man and hold on tight. Make sure Bucky was real. That it was actually Bucky who was dethawed and not the man who tossed Sam around like a ragdoll.
Sam didn't know what he wanted.
Sam felt Bucky's hand on his knee and instantly moved away.
"No," said Sam, his voice breaking as he said it, "You don't get to do that. You don't get to pretend we're okay."
Because they weren't. How could they be?
Bucky moved his hand away. Looked at a loss.
"I just want to be here for you," said Bucky.
"But can I trust you?" asked Sam, feeling the sob coming, "I trusted you to be honest. I gave you my word. I kept your location secret. And you didn't tell me. You didn't tell me there were words that would flip that switch."
Sam could feel it. The way Bucky moved like a force of nature when he grabbed Sam by the jaw and tossed him.
"I should have told you," whispered Bucky, giving Sam his space, "I was pretending I didn't know it was a possibility. I didn't want it to be. I wanted to be normal. I didn't want to think I could be that again. I wanted five seconds to pretend I was just some guy. In a city. With a fella who probably wouldn't even look my way if not for the fact that his friend told him to keep an eye on me. But ignoring something like that wasn't a smart idea. I was being selfish. It put everyone in danger. I'm so sorry, Sam."
"You left me," sobbed Sam, finally feeling the tears and snot, "You left me there."
Which might not be the fairest thing to say. Sam had told them to leave him at that airport. But it felt like everything was pouring out of him at this point. And they did that. They left him there. And he was stuck in that prison for months just thinking about it.
Sam felt the arm around him, pulling Sam closer. Pulling Sam into this awkward contorted embrace in the cramped space of the large bookshelf they found themselves on as he sobbed into Bucky's shirt.
Sam wanted to push Bucky off of him. He wanted to get as far away from Bucky as possible. He wanted to never see Bucky again.
Sam wanted to cling to Bucky. He wanted Bucky to hold him forever. He wanted Bucky to never leave Sam again.
Sam found himself doing nothing. Frozen as Bucky held him.
"Don't do this alone," whispered Bucky, "I don't have to be the person you talk to, but you need someone to lean on."
Sam unraveled at the seams completely as he collapsed into that embrace. Sam's tears staining Bucky's shirt. Sam barely able to breathe as Bucky rubbed his back soothingly. Sam did need to talk to someone about this. Maybe not Bucky, but someone. For now, all he wanted to do was let Bucky hold him, though.

I wrote this on my phone so apologies for the mistakes. Also, idk where this idea came from.
***
Natasha wasn’t with Steve and Sam often. They were all on the run from the government and Natasha preferred being alone as it meant she didn’t have to worry about another person. But when Sam and Steve needed her for their stealth missions, she was always there beside them. Sometimes it got lonely and Natasha wished she had a companion by her side, preferably in the form of a tall blonde, former spy who could hold her own.
Said blonde was the last person Natasha expected to see when she arrived in Stockholm to meet up with Steve and Sam. But it turned out this was a four person mission and they needed Sharon. Natasha was both elated and a little disappointed because while this meant she would spend more time with Sharon, it also meant she would have to watch Steve and Sharon together. Like she was right now. Sharon and Steve were busy talking to each other, and probably lost in each other when Natasha arrived in the kitchen.
She frowned and crossed her arms across her chest as she stopped next to Sam who was busy making pancakes.
“When did she get here?” Natasha asked, putting emphasis on the she.
Sam threw a glance over his shoulder before replying, “About 30 minutes ago. Steve is briefing her on the mission.”
Right at that moment, Sharon laughed at something Steve said which made Natasha’s frown deeper. “Doesn’t seem like they’re talking about the mission.” She mumbled under her breath.
“Huh?” Sam asked.
“Nothing,” Natasha was quick to reply. “So why do we need four people for the mission? Couldn’t you, Steve, and I have done this on our own?”
“No, we need someone to play a couple while another keeps an eye on the target. And I need to be on the quinjet, ready to get us out of there .”
“So I’m guessing Sharon and Steve are playing the happy couple,” Natasha tried to keep the bitterness out of her voice.
“No, we were hoping that would be you and Sharon. It’s an LGBTQIA+ event,” Sam replied distractedly.
Natasha perked up at that and she couldn’t help but smile a little. She’d at least get to play a couple with Sharon even when she couldn’t have the real thing.
Steve said something again that made Sharon laugh and this time she flirtatiously smacked his arm (well, at least it looked flirtatious to Natasha).
“Well, they’d sure make cute babies,” Natasha huffed.
Sam’s eyebrows furrowed and he gave her a weird look. “Where the hell did that come from?”
“What? It’s the truth,” Natasha replied.
“Well, I sure hope not. I’d rather not have my boyfriend have babies with someone else.”
Natasha blinked at Sam. “Wait a second, did you just say your boyfriend? Who? Steve?” She asked incredulously.
“He’s the only one here, isn’t he?” Sam asked as he turned off the stove.
Sam moved to stand beside Natasha, while leaning against the kitchen table.
“When did this happen?” Natasha continued to ask.
“We’ve been on and off since we met in 2014. But now that we spend all our time together, we decided to give it a go for good,” Sam explained while watching Steve with a smile.
“So Steve and Sharon aren’t together?” Natasha couldn’t hide the excitement from her voice.
“Well, I don’t plan on sharing so no, they’re not together,” Sam answered. “Why are you so curious about their relationship status?” Sam raised an eyebrow at her.
“Uh…” For once in her life Natasha was lost for an answer.
But it looked like she didn’t have to answer when a smirk slowly appeared on Sam’s face. “Wait a second… do you have a thing for Sharon?”
“What? No!” Natasha’s voice became higher as she lied which only made Sam smirk even more.
“Liar!” Sam chuckled. “I was telling Steve that we should set the two of you up but he didn’t want to meddle and said that the two of you will come together if you were meant to be. I, of course called bullshit, because I knew neither of you were going to make the move.”
Natasha felt her cheeks heat up and Sam nudged her. “Is Natasha Romanov actually blushing?” He asked.
“No, she’s not. Not unless you want her to cause you immense amount of pain.” Natasha threatened.
Sam threw his hands up in surrender and continued to chuckle. “Hey Steve?” Sam called out to his boyfriend?
“Yes, babe?” Steve replied.
“Can we talk for a minute? In private?” He asked.
Steve looked at Sharon who nodded and told him to go.
“You’re welcome,” Sam whispered leaning in close to Natasha’s ear.
Steve came over to the two of them and took Sam’s hand before leading him out. Natasha briefly heard Steve say, “you know if you wanted to make out with me, all you had to do was ask.”
Sam threw Natasha a thumbs up as he followed Steve out of the kitchen.
“What was that all about?”
Natasha startled a little, which didn’t happen often but Sharon was as stealthy as her.
“Nothing!” Natasha quickly replied.
“Hmmm.” Sharon hummed beside her and she was staring at Natasha intently which made Natasha squirm a little. “So I hear we are going to have to play a couple for the mission?”
“Yeah, I heard that too,” Natasha replied.
“I kind of wish it wasn’t fake, though,” Sharon added boldly.
Natasha blinked at her. “What?” She choked.
“You heard me,” Sharon replied. “Look, I know this isn’t the best time, with us being on the run and all but I wanna give this-“ she pointed between herself and Natasha “-a chance. So what do you say?”
“Yes!” Natasha answered enthusiastically. “I say yes!” She wrapped her arms around Sharon’s waist and pulled her in closer. “I can’t believe this is really happening,” she said gently kissing Sharon on the lips.
“Well, you better believe it,” Sharon replied.
They heard Sam screaming Steve’s name and Sharon chuckled. “Are they having sex with us right here?”
“Let’s leave them to it. How about I take you out to breakfast?” Natasha asked.
“Now, how can I say no to that?” Sharon asked and deeply kissed Natasha.

What if Vision was the airport battle turncoat?
The concept art for Captain America: Civil War includes one piece where Vision phases his hand through Tony's arc reactor in order to stop him from attacking Wanda, which would've alluded to a similar scene where Vision shuts down Iron Man's armor in the original Civil War comic. This seems to suggest that in earlier drafts, Vision was either part of Team Cap during the airport battle, or betrayed Team Iron Man at a key moment, similar to how Natasha uses her Widow's Bite to stun and incapacitate T'Challa so Steve and Bucky can escape on the Quinjet.
Honestly, it makes me wonder if Vision, not Natasha, should've been the member of Team Iron Man who served as a turncoat in the airport battle. Natasha's motive seems to be that she realized Tony's judgement was off, or she was always Team Cap but pretending to be for the other side because she wanted to get the lay of that side of the political landscape concerning the Accords and pass this information to Steve.
Vision, meanwhile, has a much stronger and personal motive to change sides: his feelings for Wanda. He's developed feelings for Wanda ("What is grief, if not love persevering?" 😍😭), but they're also on opposite sides of the Accords debate since he's for them and she's against them. So Vision turning on Team Iron Man because of his feelings for Wanda would be an interesting plot point that could also allow him to get onscreen the development he seems to undergo offscreen between Civil War and Infinity War.
Another reason it would make sense for Vision to be in this position is because it would make more sense for him to be stuck in the middle. Like, he makes this argument in favor of the Accords...
"In the 8 years since Mr. Stark announced himself as Iron Man, the number of known enhanced persons has grown exponentially. And during the same period, the number of potentially world-ending events has risen at a commensurate rate. [...] I'm saying there may be a causality. Our very strength invites challenge. Challenge incites conflict. And conflict...breeds catastrophe. Oversight...oversight is not an idea that can be dismissed out of hand."
...but at the same time, he also knows that he probably has less rights than a human because he doesn't quite meet the legal standard of well...personhood. He can put on a human disguise for sure, but since he's not a natural-born human, the Accords will not be kind to him in the same way they won't be kind to the Avengers who have innate superpowers (Steve, Wanda, and Thor if he was around) as opposed to being really skilled Muggles (Clint and Natasha) or having removable suits (Tony and Rhodey). Not to mention we have proof of this thanks to WandaVision. We know in that show that the Accords outlawed sentient weapons (which is why Hayward's a criminal for trying to bring Vision "back online to life" and trying to coerce Wanda into doing it for him), and I doubt that Tyler Hayward's the only bureaucrat to see Vision as nothing more than government property.
Having him be a turncoat in the airport battle would also be consistent with Vision's character when one considers how often he lets his feelings for Wanda compromise his moral beliefs. I've seen some people posit that him shooting down Rhodey wasn't a case of his beam being off while trying to shoot Sam, but as him intentionally hurting Rhodey as retaliation for Rhodey using a sonic cannon earlier on Wanda to cause her to drop the rubble of the control tower that Vision needlessly destroyed. Not to mention that the zombie episode of What If...? had Vision feeding people to a zombified Wanda because he couldn't bear the thought of having to kill her.
So having Vision turn coat in the airport battle to help Wanda escape would also go a long way as far as him providing an olive branch to Wanda for when they start their relationship between between Civil War and Infinity War. Though obviously this would probably mean having to rewrite the final act to put Wanda in Siberia, because if Wanda still ends up in the Raft, Vision's decision is all for naught. This might be a problem since the writers clearly intended for the showdown in Siberia to be with just Tony, Steve, and Bucky. Not sure what contributions Wanda would have in Siberia, other than maybe this feeling of looking herself in the mirror when Zemo describes his motivations for revenge.

care to share any snippets from your "Wakanda" wip? 🥺
Anything for you my love.
He can hear Tony still screaming at him from where he has left him, laying on the hard ground. He has a singular, blinding moment of panic where he isn't sure he's doing the right thing. It tangles itself around his feet and pulls him to a stop before he looks down at Bucky.
He's in bad shape. The remains of the metal arm dangle, sparking wires hissing angrily. He's sure they both have some broken bones, but they're still standing. If, after everything Buck has already been through, he can still keep moving, then Steve owes it to him to keep going forward.
He doesn't expect T'Challa to be waiting for them. Has a wild thought that he doesn't know if they can fight him and walk away from this snowy mountain, but T'Challa just approaches them slowly, his hands held in the universal show of peace.
"I wish only to help. I caught Zemo. I know what he has done." T'Challa says softly.
Steve frowns. "Why would you care? Why would you want to help?" Steve asks doubtfully.
"There has been enough pain today. There are enough victims this day." T'Challa replies solemnly. Steve doesn't know what to make of that statement or of the man who says them, but Bucky is almost out and he can use all the help he can get, so he nods slowly and watches carefully as T'Challa comes to Bucky's other side, lending support.
In response this ask game.

thinking about how post-cw winteriron has so much angst potential for Steve
like
Imagine Steve having hard time admitting he thought wrong/made a mistake, and after cw he’s only more sure that the decision to not tell Tony was the right one — look what happened when he found out! Until the avengers reunite, and winteriron becomes a thing.
and it’s just — even in the worst circumstances they made it happen!
which just obliterates all of Steve’s arguments to himself.
