#possibly training together with the lycanrocs

Note
What do you mean when you say Minerva no longer belongs to Peach? Was she traded? Did she not want to be Trainer owned?
Minerva is a fussy Pokemon, she likes things the way she likes them, indulges in fine fabrics, enjoys being brushed and preened, and of course peach has always done this for her, catered to it her entire life, even when money was tight, she would do her best. So much so, she learnt to sew and tailor so she could enjoy new outfits for cheap. Not once has that Pokemon ever had to ask for anything, she’s been adored.
This did not change when grey turned up, he was more fashion forward than peach, and he got along with Minerva, they shared a lot of love for finer things.
And then plum came along. Since she started coming and going from the professors home, she had been drawn to Min, and in turn, the lopunny gravitated to her too. Every time the trio got five minutes to relax, plum would mindlessly brush out her fur, or help her put outfits together. They truly bonded. It has been two years, and they’ve become thick as thieves. When Minerva isnt with her actual trainer working or hanging out, she’s with Plum. This did not go ignored. Peach often looked over at the sofa and saw them flicking through a magazine together, or swiping through fashion blogs on a phone, discussing trends, figuring out new uses for old items once they cycled back into the hottest trends. They clicked. She’d be a fool to ignore it.
And so, knowing plum’s only Pokemon was Missy, a less than strong dragonair with a tendency to get distracted, and the fact that her family was now a well known threat to them all, she decided it was a wise move to perhaps bring the subject of changing Minerva trainer officially. She took her old friend out to the berry fields, normal work, min liked to collect fruits and do these odd jobs, and while they worked, the subject was brought up. Minerva though shocked, wasn’t against it, she would still be able to come and go from the house, she would forever be peach’s darling friend, nothing would truly change, but it was painfully clear that she belonged with the ranger, they got along like a house on fire.
Peach did not tell plum of her plans, instead initiating a battle with her as training, a little fun more than anything else. Missy the dragonair, vs Minerva the lopunny. The poor dragon didn’t stand a chance, outpaced by the normal type. Defeated and somehow not surprised, plum laughed it off, caught unawares by the professor handing her a pokeball and a smooth mega stone for Minerva.
Peach trusts plum to love her partner, to cater to her, and sees that they truly fit as a team. She also knows Minerva will keep her safe should there be an invasion, an attack, or god forbid, her family turn up and start to cause trouble. She feels better knowing that Missy isn’t her only defence.
It is the highest honour peach can possibly bestow, handing one of her beloved personal partners over, trusting her to do right by them. Seeing as she got Minerva as this dusty flea ridden little mess many years ago, and helped her grow into the fabulous, perfect Pokemon she is today, there is a lot of love and respect between the two. Enough to know when it’s time for a change for the better.
Plum of course cried like a baby because she’s like that, nothing surprising, and mega-evolution training has begun, peach no longer needs the skill set, and so she was happy to give her own keystone up, and help the ranger learn to do it safely, it’s become their little weekly event, a tough session sure, but plum enjoys it, and Minerva is happy to spend time with both her partners working hard together.
So while Minerva is still in the house, still around and part of everyone’s life like normal, technically she is plums partner now. A mutual decision. Peach has picked up Riot instead, a midnight lycanroc she travelled Galar with, who is incredibly brutal in nature, and needed more hands on time.

The sun slowly made its way lower and lower down the darkening sky, about to descend beyond the horizon. Tall grass swayed back and forth, rustled gently by the soft breeze that blew over the lush greenfields kissed by the setting sun. Blue hour made its approach, the sky painted in various shades of the prettiest blues and the loveliest purples. A flock of Starly darted around happily, performing their last round through the twilight sky before they would go to sleep on the branches of nearby trees.
A quick glance at your watch informed you that it was around nine pm, and you knew it would turn completely dark soon. But you weren’t planning to go back already; summer nights were your favorite moments to spend outside, with the sultry breeze and the soft warmth that cascaded around you ever so gently, and the pokémon that were still so lively even at this hour. You were often found in the wildlands that surrounded Hearthome City, simply to have some time alone and wind down after a day accompanied by your pokémon.
With your back resting against the bark of a sturdy honey tree, you released a deep sigh. Your pokémon were still energized as if it wasn’t far into the evening, frisky as ever as they darted through the tall grass around you. Sylveon, Plusle and Lycanroc were playing a game that looked a lot like tag, while Rowlet and Pachirisu seemed to be looking for something as they scurried through the strands of lush green. Only Lucario was next to you, observing the rest of your team as they were frolicking around. Everything was so peaceful, the happy sounds of your pokémon, the soft breeze that pulled through the greenfields, and the last rays of sunshine kissing the Earth ever so gently.
Everything was peaceful, except for the guy shouting in the distance.
That guy was Kunikuzushi.
If it would’ve been just a random person training their pokémon, it wouldn’t have bothered you. A lot of people shared the same passion, that of becoming a pokémon master, so there was no reason to get annoyed by others doing the same thing as you loved. But Kunikuzushi wasn’t just someone.
He had the honor of being the only person you really couldn’t stand. Just having him near you was enough to put you off, and it had been like that for as long as you could remember. Your mothers had been friends since forever, and of course they hoped for their children to get along just as well. It was the opposite that happened, though; as soon as the two of you had been old enough to engage in proper interactions, a rivalry had settled between you.
It was a hate-at-first-sight thing that started off small and grew as you got older. In the beginning it was petty; he would steal your cookie and you’d trip him, you’d chase away the wild pokémon the other was trying to catch, he’d stick out his tongue at you and you would throw pecha berries at him as he ran away. Childish but fairly innocent and insignificant. Maybe people hoped that it would go away with the years, but it only became worse. You hated each other still, throwing resentful glares in each other’s direction and shots were fired whenever you two interacted. Sparks flew in all the wrong directions, you were fire and ice and once it settled it never changed. You hated Kunikuzushi, you couldn’t stand him, you wanted him as far away as possible. He was cold and harsh, hostile even in your eyes. His entire attitude set you off.
There had been many attempts to fix things between you, mainly your parents meddling with your rivalry in hopes to dissolve it. They even went as far as giving you a Plusle and a Minun from the same duo, and while the two little pokémon were the best of friends, it didn’t do any good to you and Kunikuzushi. If anything, it only sparked the irritations that lingered between you two, and that feeling lasted until this very day and counting. Now, with those pokémon on your team, you had something that connected you and oh, you both hated it.
After that, your parents basically gave up trying. It was pointless, and they finally seemed to realize so as well. Their children were still fire and ice, and it would remain like that forever. You wanted nothing but to avoid him at all costs, but of course he wouldn’t let you off so easily. No, his goal in life seemed to be to piss you off as much as he could.
So it wasn’t much of a surprise when you found him standing in front of you, looking down upon you with a frown – as if you had done something to offend him, while all you did was try to enjoy an evening of peace with your pokémon.
“What are you doing here?” he asked icily. “Enjoyed the show?”
Another reason why you couldn’t stand him; he could be surprisingly cocky. He had been like that back in the days, but instead of said cockiness disappearing over time it only got worse.
Suppressing the urge to visibly roll your eyes, you slowly pushed yourself off the ground to properly face him. With your height being exactly the same, you knew you wouldn’t tower over him, but everything was better than having him look down on you like that.
“Yeah, it was definitely fun to see how much your pokémon still have to teach you,” you replied, narrowing your eyes at him – okay, you didn’t see anything of his training session but that didn’t matter, you only wanted to taunt him. You added, “very entertaining, to say the least. Would totally watch again.”
“What did you say?” Kunikuzushi hissed, taking a step forward.
“You heard me,” you said, unfazed by his threatening gesture. You didn’t even bother to hide the annoyance in your voice. “I don’t know what on Earth you are doing, but it’s a mess. Seeing you struggle is fun, though. Keep going.”
Before you knew it, his hands held a tight grip on your collar and he pulled you dangerously close to him.
“You wanna go, huh?” he snapped, his violet eyes boring into yours.
You struggled to maintain your balance, and you absolutely hated how your hands landed onto his chest in order to do so. You instantly pushed him away as far as his grip allowed you, only to glare at him viciously. Your poor heart was surging with anger, hammering in your ribcage agitatedly.
But then he suddenly let go of you with a small groan. Still glaring at you, he took a few steps away and you saw Lucario standing there, holding his bone in his paw and a bored expression plastered onto his features. It was clear that he was not amused after witnessing yet another fight between you and Kunikuzushi, but it wasn’t as if you could help it.
“Couldn’t you have hit him a little harder?” you mumbled, straightening your jacket while sending the guy opposite of you another glare. The male merely snorted, but you wasted no time to get back at him. If he thought he could get away with that, he was utterly wrong. At this point, you were too pissed-off to let it slide.
“Pachirisu!” you called out, and the white squirrel instantly abandoned her chase to hop over to you, eyeing Kunikuzushi curiously. Your eyes, too, wandered to the male opposite of you again. “Let’s settle this.”
“You always fall for it, don’t you?” the violet-haired male sneered, his hand reaching to his belt to grab a pokéball.
“I’m just patiently waiting for the day you actually manage to beat me,” you countered, watching how Kunikuzushi walked off, throwing and catching his pokéball in his hand in a manner that made it look like he gave zero fucks about the upcoming battle.
You wondered why he still was so confident, seeing how he never won a battle against you so far. Or was it only a cold indifference that he carried with him? Did he really not care about your battles? Were you the only one who got so worked-up by them? Oh, you truly hated him. You balled your hands into tight fists in determination. Never before have you lost to Kunikuzushi, and tonight wouldn’t be the first time.
In a flash of red light, he released Haunter from his pokéball, and the pokémon showed you a menacing grin. But Pachirisu wasn’t fazed by it in the slightest, clapping her paws against her cheeks to set sparks of lightning flying as she took a battle stance. Unlike your Lucario – who refused to fight Kunikuzushi at this point – your other pokémon weren’t tired of your endless battles yet and took every fight seriously. Pachirisu looked determined, and so were you.
“Pachirisu, use hyper fang!” you shouted, not really caring whether or not your opponent was ready to battle.
The white-and-blue squirrel dashed forward, gaining speed rapidly. Clouds of dust flew up as she went, hiding the pokémon from view for the majority of time. Kunikuzushi’s voice carried over the battlefield and you knew his Haunter dodged the attack.
     “Haunter, double team!” he commanded.
As the dust cleared up, you found Pachirisu surrounded by multiple copies of Haunter, all spinning around the tiny squirrel and performing little jabs here and there. You could see your pokémon faltering in sheer confusion, looking around panic-stricken with hazy eyes as she tried to focus. It was to no avail; Kunikuzushi knew this move always got to your squirrel pokémon.
But you practiced a thing.
“Pachirisu, iron tail, now!” you called.
The tiny pokémon blinked a few times upon hearing your voice, but then she narrowed her eyes as she tried to focus again. Her spiked tail lit up, emitting a pale bluish light before the squirrel spun around rapidly in a dash of blue, successfully getting rid of all the Haunter copies at once. Only one remained, but the real Haunter was ready to strike.
     “Use lick!” Kunikuzushi ordered.
A laugh bubbled up your throat, entertained by his choice of attack. Pachirisu flinched as the purple pokémon’s tongue swiped across her charged-up cheeks, and you felt bad for the little squirrel because God, that had to be so gross, but she used her tiny paw to wipe her cheeks and glowered at the ghost pokémon.
“Lick can’t paralyze electric pokémon, you should know that by now,” you pointed out, but you only cared little for your opponent’s mistake and prepared your next move. You were done with him, done with your night of peace being interrupted like that. It was time for the final blow. “Pachirisu, quick attack!”
You pointed at Haunter, and Pachirisu quickly gained speed as she darted towards her opponent. Particles of dust rose again, obscuring the fight from your view, but you heard a pained groan and you knew the attack hit its target. Haunter was probably down, vulnerable for your final move.
“Finish it off with thunderbolt!” you shouted.
Pachirisu chimed softly, and shortly after bolts of thunder surged through the sandy dust as the pokémon charged up before ultimately releasing the electricity with her tiny roar. Thunder crashed all around the battlefield, zapping through the air and filling it with tension before the bolts plummeted down on what you presumed was Haunter. Silence followed, and you held your breath as the dust slowly cleared. Pachirisu was revealed, panting heavily and her cheeks sprouting lightning subconsciously. Afore her laid Haunter, motionless on the ground. The ghost pokémon had his eyes closed, and for a few seconds both you and Kunikuzushi stared at the two pokémon in the center of the meadow.
     “Fuck,” the violet-haired male cursed.
“How do you still sound so surprised?” you asked. “You never win against me.”
Haunter disappeared in a flash of red light, transferred back into his pokéball. Pachirisu ran towards you excitedly, happy to have won another match for you. You picked her up in your arms, cuddling her against your chest and murmuring to her how well she battled. The tiny squirrel had a few scratches and she was obviously tired, but that seemed to be about it. You pondered, maybe a visit to the local pokémon center would be a good idea, just in case. It would make a good excuse to walk away from the male who stood there scowling at you. Maybe you’d find back a little of the peace he had so rudely interrupted.
“You’re the loser here, Kunikuzushi,” you taunted. “As you always are.”
Maybe it was a little unfair. It wasn’t as if he lost by a long shot; usually your matches were a close call, and there had been many times where he did have the upper hand for the majority of the match. He was a worthy opponent, and you were well aware that you mostly won by sheer luck and the fact that Kunikuzushi chose force over tactic. The only reason you managed to beat him every time was because you always outsmarted him. Were he ever to use tactic over force, he’d probably beat you with ease, you knew that all too well. He just had to play his cards a little smarter, but of course you wouldn’t tell him that. You gladly took this opportunity to downtalk him a little. After all, he’d do the same.
“I lost to a fucking Pachirisu,” the male growled. “I can’t believe it.”
You snickered, rubbing the head of the tiny pokémon in your arms as you were very proud of her.
“Underestimate her all you want,” you simply said. “You should know by now that she’s pretty strong.”
“Whatever,” Kunikuzushi mumbled, looking away with a frown. “I’ll get her down some day. I’ll get you down some day.”
“Yeah, yeah, you’ve been saying that for a while now,” you signed, not believing a word of what he just said. “Anyway, I don’t plan on letting you ruin my night any longer, so I’m heading off. Bye, loser.”
Without looking back at him even once, you walked away from the field. Your pokémon all scurried after you one by one, and each of them betrayed you as they all gave Kunikuzushi a curious look as he stood there, his pokéball still in his hand. Okay, maybe you looked back once, just once, to see how he was doing. It was nearly completely dark now, and only the last auburn streaks in the sky revealed him standing there, barely anything more than a silhouette. But you quickly turned away from him; you didn’t care and you’ve had enough.

I should be putting this on my writing account, but I don’t want that to be...too overflooded with fan fic construction posts and this could also just stand as a post(s) in of itself if I don’t get a fic going.
For the record this is for a Laura x Travis fic, but other thought went into it. So anyway:
(Hackearney) Pokémon AU pt1 [2] [3]
Travis Hackett
Travis is pretty much the same in this AU as we’ve seen in game as well as the usual headcanons associated with him, such as the abuse. He has a different set of the usual scars in this AU ranging from basic oriented to Pokémon oriented.
Team:
Umbreon (shiny); reason for this is to keep something of a moon theme and the fact that Umbreons are the result of Eevee’s evolving under moonlight with a high friendship. The current idea is that he attained the Eevee from a police raid he assisted in a town over. Said Eevee was very hostile and eventually disappeared. When he returned to North Kill Travis discovered that it stowed away in his cruiser. It evolved into Umbreon while she and Travis were on the lake, while Travis was going over some of his woes. Umbreon is very protective of Travis. She also has a pokeball, but she’s rarely in it.
Trevenant; A decent enough summary of Trevenant’s pokedex data is hostiles to some, kind to others and that sounds like Travis. It also fits into the Hackett family Pokémon theme
Arcanine; This would be Travis’ police Pokémon and this is subject to change. Just like the idea of the NKPD having a unified Pokémon and this is Travis’ career appointed Pokémon, a classic, but again open to change.
Laura Kearney
Minor changes. Laura still wants to be a “vet” but thankfully she has more knowledge on human medical aid in this AU. Depending on what I do she’s still coming as a counselor to be the nurse or she’s moved to North Kill after getting her college degree cause its the only location with an open position for her to take work.
Team:
Lycanroc (dusk);a calm personality with the a strong fighting spirit underneath, yeah that’s Laura. Despite being known for being difficult to train Laura’s had her Lycanroc since it was a Rockruff and they click so well together.
Houndoom; One of Laura’s assignments during college had her work at Pokémon daycare. While there she made good friends with a client who gifted her a Houndour egg, which hatched and with time evolved into Houndoom. (As far as I can tell Mega Evolution isn’t restricted to Kalos) Said client also presented Laura with a Mega Bracelet and  Houndoominite.
Blissey; A rather complicated relationship. Much like Travis this is more so an occupation Pokémon, but she has partially disowned it. Laura kept Blissey through all her evolutions cause growing up she thought that a Pokémon in the Happiny lin was required. While she kept it and got it to evolve she didn’t care for seeing her as a tool only. Now Blissey is more so owned by the Pokémon center as a whole, but does go out with Laura predominantly when it comes to calls of major cases.
Indeedee; a rather unusual Pokémon to use in her profession, but Laura enjoys and grateful for what Indeedee can do. Namely being able to learn the needs of others and brining said items for the patient or for Laura to use. (currently unsure if I want her to own a female only or both genders)
AND...
This is all I really have. I do have some vague ideas of what I want to do with the other characters for their possible appearances, but I will do those in another post.
I’m not sure I want them to have a full team though

I know you're probably not an expert since you only recently got your pokemon, but do you have any advice on lycanroc care? My rockruff just came back after evolving and I want to treat her well. I've gotten plenty of information from my local pokecenter and the internet, but I'd like to hear about experiences from other trainers if possible. Any and all advice appreciated!!
Of course! Im honored you came to me for assistance
Lycanrocs are very active pokemon, they enjoy excersize in many forms and playing with their trainers is a popular past time. They are very similar to dogs, but do still have a bit of wildness in them. Their energy levels stay about the same, so combined with their size it can be a bit problematic. I highly recommend getting them active regularly, and establish/reestablish any necessary training soon after evolving. Consistency is key, as they do mellow out more with some time.
Also, the different time forms do have some influence. Im not sure of specifics, but one thing I've heard is they seem to be more active during their respective times. This can be managed with planning of course, but it's something to be aware of.
Lycanrocs are very individual pokemon, but I've found Chai very rewarding. Im sure you and your companion will do very well together.

Alcremie - a Pokemon perfect for someone who loves/loved to bake
Chansey - a very helpful Pokemon would be great for someone who wants to help those around her
Gardevoir - a very strong Pokemon for someone who you probably dont want to underestimate in combat
Cherrim Sunshine form - a Pokemon given to her by Captain Puffy while making their flower shop
Dwebbl - Niki must have found at least one rock type while making her  underground city!
i feel like it makes sense that some of these Pokemon aren’t fully evolved while others are cause While some Trainers like Techno, Dream and Phil are known for their battle prowess others like Tubbo, Wilbur and Tommy don’t fight that often. Let me know what you think of these Pokemon Teams!

Why a Rivalry Between Lucario and Cinderace WOULD NOT Work
Tumblr media
So with the latest episode of Pokemon Journeys yesterday, we got a brand new opening animation as well. As per usual anipoke trends, the opening showcased many potential events that we could expect in the near future, like Iris and Gary returning, the gang traveling with Leon, and... Lucario and Cinderace forming some sort of rivalry.
Before we go on, I would just like to point out that not everything we see in anipoke openings should be taken seriously, as there’s been plenty of times an opening animation has showcased a certain event that never came to be, such as Ash catching a Grubbin in one of the Sun and Moon openings. And now using the previous Journeys opening as an example, that one teased events like Riolu and Farfetch’d training with each other alone and Ash and Goh having a full-out battle. Did either of those two came to be? Nope! So with that said, it is possible the same deal will done with this particular event.
However, because of much focus was placed on this upcoming rivalry, as well as taking episode 48 into consideration, it is actually very likely the writers are egging in giving us a Lucario-Cinderace rivalry, despite evidence pointing out how much of a bad idea it will be. And how are the reasons why:
Reason #1: It Would Be Forced
Ever since Lucario hatched as a Riolu, the two have barely, if ever, interacted with each other. For the most point, they mostly just shared comedic group moments (with Pikachu and Sobble, mind you). Have they ever trained with each other? Nope. Showcased any negative and/or competitive emotion? Not even in the slightest. In fact, the first time they ever had a meaningful interaction was in episode 45 where they both evolved, but really the only thing did with each other was fist bump, and then help take down Eternatus with Pikachu and the legendary doggos, so there really isn’t much we can take from there.
The same can be said for episode 46 where they both worked together to fight Mewtwo. They just cooperated with each other without any sort of meaningful interaction with each other.
And then we got episode 48. I’ve already talked about on how and why their whole thing between each other was forced, but in order to break it down for the sake of this blog post, the mostly just got into a bunch of silly shenanigans caused by their own simple mistakes. Y’know, just like Team Rocket with each other and sometimes Ash and his own traveling companions. Did any of them formed some sort of rivalry because of their silly mistakes? No. Then there’s nothing else we can take from this episode as well.
With all that said, Lucario and Cinderace forming a rivalry would just come on out to be extremely given their lack of interaction. And the crazy part is that’s not even scratching the surface, given reason #2.
Reason #2: They Have No Reason To Form a Rivalry
Rivalries shared between Pokemon is an uncommon thing. While they’re never usually given much emphasis compared to trainer rivalries, there’s usually some reason on why they are formed in the first place.
One of the most iconic examples I can think of would be the one between Ash’s Greninja and Sawyer’s Sceptile. In its younger stages, Scepy kept losing to frog boi, despite the two having very similar fighting styles and both gaining super forms later on in their lives. They also both deliberately shared a love for battling and their trainers both aimed for the same goal: conquering the Kalos League, so a rivalry between them was due to come. We also had Ash’s Lycanroc and Incineroar wanting to match and surpass their teachers in Sun and Moon (Gladion’s Lycanroc and Kukui’s Incineroar respectively).
Now looking at Lucario and Cinderace, what reason would they have to form a rivalry? Become the strongest? Then shouldn’t they focus on battling Pikachu or Dragonite then? It’s not like their trainers share the same goal or anything. Ash wants to fight ‘em all while Goh wants to catch ‘em all. Hecks, this point kind of brings up the next reason why a rivalry between these two would be stupid, which is...
Reason #3: Power Balance
It shouldn’t be a secret to anyone that Lucario would absolutely body Cinderace in a one-on-one serious match with their trainers. For one, ever since he was a little baby Riolu, Lucario has always been training. He’s helped his trainer defeat strong opponents to help raise his ranking and heckles, if you look up his battle record, you can find that Lucario is Ash’s second most used Pokemon in Journeys so far.
On the other hand, Cinderace, while he has a bit more experience than the standard Goh-captured mon, still pales in comparison to Lucario’s resume. He hardly ever trains, in fact, he mostly just helps Goh in catching and studying mons, but that’s not enough. And while it’s true Cinderace has been depicted to be on equal footing with Lucario in their fights against Eternatus and Mewtwo, please take in note that they were not fighting each other and both legendaries were capable of bodying the both of them because, well, they’re legendaries.
So there’s really no reason to think they’re equal when Lucario has clearly done more battling than Cinderace. And if you want to bring up that Cinderace has the type advantage, please take in mind who is Lucario’s trainer. Ash flippin’ Ketchum. Y’know, the same guy who has defeated Blaine’s Rhydon with Pikachu, Gary’s Blastoise with Charizard, Clark’s Quilava and Charizard with Grovyle and Glalie, Cilan’s Pansage with Oshawott, and Sawyer’s Sceptile with Greninja. It’s at this point where type advantages literally mean nothing to him. And if you want to bring up instances like Juan’s Luvdisc beating Grovyle or Alain’s Charizard beating Greninja, then let me tell you this: Compare Goh’s skill and experience to the likes of Alain, Juan, etc. and see where that argument takes you now.
I think it’s safe to say that in an actual battle, Cinderace would be screwed. Not only is Lucario a more adept battler, but he has a trainer (who’s basically Goh’s own mentor, mind you) who can completely wipe the floor with Cinderace’s. If you really think about, Ash’s strategic mind could help Lucario pull off crazy stuff like reflecting Cinderace’s Pyro Ball back with the force of his physical moves or just go all Naruto on it with Double Team. Ash has conquered the Orange and Alola leagues and the Kanto Battle Frontier, so imaging Goh having that level of skill would just be laughable considering we’re only halfway to 100 episodes in Journeys.
Final Points
Overall, a rivalry between these two would be stupid because they barely interact, their goals are different, and Lucario has Ash for his trainer. Additionally, I just want to ask this: Why? Why would they need to form a rivalry?
Doesn’t Lucario already have one with Bea’s Grapploct, a Pokemon owned by a trainer with the same goal as his own? That’s honestly much more interesting. And what about Farfetch’d? The two are currently Ash’s only fighting types on his team and Farfetch’d’s debut appearance established that they are about on equal skill and share a love for battling. Shouldn’t the two form a rivalry as well? You could even put in Farfetch’d’s own development, making him jealous that someone younger than him has evolved first, and thus, could now be stronger, motivating him to push himself to evolve as well so he can be back on equal footing. You could also give Lucario a student-teacher thing with Korrina’s Lucario, just like Lycanroc and Incineroar, but let’s not get too redundant considering Lucario has already copied Lycanroc’s hatred for getting dirty.
And if you want to give Cinderace some sort of rival, might I suggest to you Sobble? Just think about it. Out of all of Goh’s large arsenal of mons, these two are his most prominent. Maybe whenever Sobble evolves, he could pick up on Cinderace’s Raboot phase, and that could make Cinderace look back on how moody he was and try to help Drizzle/Inteleon move on from that, albeit, getting into some conflict as well. But those are just my ideas.
And that’s all I have to say over this topic. As you may have figured at this point, I don’t want a rivalry like this be formed due to the reasons given, but it’s likely inevitable at this point, so I’ll certainly review the heck out of it whenever it comes. Thanks for reading and don’t forget to follow if you haven’t already!

P J’s PokéAni Rewind 2018
Tumblr media
It is time for my 3rd annual year-end Tumblr tradition! If you haven’t seen last year’s post, check out my 2017 PokéAni Rewind which featured the Sun & Moon series‘ first full year run. 2018 was a pretty busy and stressful year for this blog with the schedule I put out for myself (coming back from a hiatus and even had a break at one point), and I appreciate all of my followers who’ve stuck with me through it whether or not you were interested in the posts I published on a specific date. The Pokémon anime has officially wrapped up for this year with the return of Brock & Misty just a couple of days ago, and it’s time to highlight some of the best episodes (this post will be following the original Japanese release dates) I personally found noteworthy. Without further delay, let’s take a look back at what the Sun & Moon series had to offer in 2018. LET’S GO!
JANUARY - Meanie to Mareanie
Tumblr media
One year later after catching a Mareanie to add to the team, James has a crossroads deciding to release her in the wild to be with a Toxapex (before it evolved) she first loved because he believed that she’ll be much happier and be better taken care of. He couldn’t get her the Corsola necklace, and even got unintentionally mad at her after failing to catch a Frillish. But no matter how much James tries to get the two together, Mareanie continues to stay loyal to him. Even after going to the Kukui residence to think about what it overheard, Mareanie cares very deeply about her trainer (as seen in the flashbacks) despite how much tougher the Toxapex seem to be. Heck even after having a “fisticuffs” with the Toxapex at the beach, both respected each other and James even saved it from an attacking Tentacruel! He ended falling in love with him too after that LOL...everyone loves James! We rarely get to see episodes focusing on a specific Team Rocket Pokémon (Meowth excluded), so I’m happy to see some development between these two.
FEBRUARY - Evolution by (Nya)Heat
Tumblr media
First revealed in the CoroCoro spoiler for that month, everyone was anticipating Ash’s Litten to evolve very soon. In this episode, we witnessed the debut of “The Masked Royal” and his Incineroar taking part in Battle Royals seen on Alolan television. While Ash & friends were inside the Battle Royal Dome watching a Battle Royal take place, Litten saw how strong Incineroar was and unexpectedly stepped into the ring to battle it. With The Masked Royal opening up his next Battle Royal match against Ash, Kiawe and Sophocles (who was also wearing a mask lol), he and Incineroar were able to wipe them all out. Litten was determined from that defeat and “fired-up” itself to get stronger by doing some special training with Ash along with the rest of his team. The next day, The Masked Royal offers a rematch in which they immediately accepted. In that re-match, we finally saw our little Litten evolve into one tough Torracat in a very fiery evolution sequence that you don’t see every day. Evolving wasn’t enough to beat Incineroar unfortunately, but on the bright side it was able to learn a new move in Flame Charge! Also it seems that Lana’s interest with muscles seem to be a running gag in the series xD As for The Masked Royal, I’m sure this wasn’t gonna be the last we see of him, and it’s really interesting to see a mentor-rival relationship he has with Ash. He does look familiar right? Hm.
MARCH - Team Skull vs. Illima’s Eeveelution Illusion
Tumblr media
The pretty boy is here! Ilima makes his anime debut as an honorary graduate guest of the Pokémon school (which is a perfect fit since he did graduate from the Trainers’ school in the games). They do some cool activities with Kukui’s class like diving off a tree to a big pond of water and engage in some serious games of Pokémon Ping-Pong later on. When Ash challenges him to a battle, it got cut short due to some interference by a certain Team Skull gang. Tupp, who is apparently a childhood “rival” of Ilima’s, wants to some payback because of the fangirls he could have gotten if it weren’t for his Eevee and charming looks. He challenges him to a battle with Salandit, but what he got was a powerful dose of Ilima’s Eevium Z! The move Extreme Evoboost to be exact, and every Eeveelution was spiritually there to gave Ilima’s Eevee a big power boost and deliver a Z-move. Not only was he able to defeat Tupp with that move, but also stole the hearts of multiple female Team Skull grunts. I honestly feel bad for Tupp...guess he needs to humble down a bit? Speaking of Team Skull, I do love that these grunts are getting some screen-time in this episode. Now if only their leader or a “big sister” showed up (:
APRIL - Starship Sophocles
Tumblr media
The spotlight goes to Sophocles this month for orchestrating a plan to bring an Ultra Beast back into space! In one of the Ultra Guardian missions to prevent the UBs from staying in the real world, Celesteela proved to be a real challenge being stuck to the ground for about 200 years! Before even receiving the mission, Sophocles knew about the UB being stuck there and even asked his classmates for help with attempting to shovel it out there. I just love the fact that everyone joins in without question to help a friend in need. He continued doing more research about Celesteela, but struggled to find a solution that wouldn’t hurt it. “The Celestial Starship” legend Sophocles grew up with meant a lot to him, and wanted to protect the Celesteela just like what that couple in that story did to the bamboo-looking celestial...protect it at all costs until it was able to find its way back to the moon. Thanks to further excavation and a Beast Ball method, anything is possible! Eventually after the Ultra Guardians fought off Team Rocket's dastardly plans, UB-04 was able to rocket its engines safety as it disappears into the atmosphere. Sophocles finally has a peace of mind. I’m glad that we got some Sophocles development out of it because we got to know more about his heart towards Pokémon rather than his already knowledgable brain. I honestly thought that Celesteela would get more of a menacing role, but I guess it just likes to smile every time there is full moon. Hopefully it’s there right now :D
MAY - The Ula'ula Trials with Nanu & Acerola
Tumblr media
The whole month of May in general was one of my favorites because it mainly featured the appearances Kahuna Nanu and Acerola (along with her Shiny ghost Mimikyu) in the anime! Acerola with her sweet attitude toward the kids she was caring for and even made friends with a wild Gengar. Then we got the Kendama cat-master Nanu who has ties with Team Rocket’s Giovanni. He is the one responsible of how Team Rocket got their Z-ring in the first place to finally use the Darkium Z they’ve been carrying for a while. Ash (traveling by himself) spent a lot of time in Ula'ula Island just to get that Grand Trial with Nanu and my goodness did he earn it! After a painful first lost against the old man, Acerola (with an assistance form Tapu Bulu too) was able to help Ash out in improving himself for the epic rematch. Pikachu learning Electro Web, Rowlet being able to use Razor Leaf and Lycanroc controlling its berserk behavior when it gets wet PLUS even learning Stone Edge and Counter in the process! After all of what’s happened, the training paid off when Ash defeated Nanu in the Grand Trial rematch earning him a Lycanium Z. This pretty much felt like a really big mini-arc, and all I can just say is that I’m happy to see Nanu do that Darkium Z pose...not as good as it was in the game but it was still a treat. Also the Uncle relationship that Acerola has with Nanu is adorable. Back to Melemele we go!
JUNE - Lillieum Z
Tumblr media
It’s Lillie’s time to shine once again getting some solid development with her trainer skills. I am talking about the episode where the entire class gets lost inside an ice cave that is apparently connected to Mount Lanakila. It’s one of those episodes where everyone pretty much gets split-up into groups. I just really love these types of episodes in general because we always get to see sub-groups from the main cast that we don’t really get to see since we usually see them in a full group or a 1-on-1 hangout. We got Ash & Kiawe on one end, while we have Lana, Rotom Dex and Kiawe’s Alolan Marowak on the other. However the main focus was on the trio of Mallow, Sophocles & Lille attempting to find their way to the others. They did starve, but luckily Mallow had some spare cookies to share! They also discover a group of wild Alolan Sandshrew  getting threatened by a Tyranitar while the group was self-training. Lillie had the courage to intervene and challenges Tyranitar to a Double Battle with Snowy and the Sandshrew leader of the group! After fending off the bully, that Sandshrew evolved (via an Ice Stone found by Sophocles’s Charjabug in which Snowy declined to evolve) into an Alolan Sandslash and gave Lillie an Icium Z to show their gratitude for protecting the group. You’d think that it would get stronger if Snowy would have evolved instead, but NOPE. Our little frosty Vulpix had the same attitude similar to Ash’s Pikachu and fought off that Tyranitar with its own power along with Lillie’s bravery. An Alolan Ninetales would be cool though, but I guess cuteness prevails over beauty...and that’s how I like it :3
JULY - Talk to the Legs
Tumblr media
It’s time for dance lessons! I was actually on a tumblr break when this episode aired, so I never really got a chance to talk about it. In one of the more fun assignments Kukui has given out to the class, everyone is required (or at least attempt) in teaching their Pokémon how to dance for an upcoming Pokémon Dance recital activity. Mallow wanted a more traditional dance so she is teaching Steenee the Alola Hula with the help of our friendly old lady Anela at the Hau'oli market. On the day of the performances, Team Rocket crashes the party in style as Jessie & James were crossdressing once again! All were trapped in pairs of cages except Steenee, who was the only hope in saving the day. Once it leaped to one of the cages and stomping on it, it ended up learning the move Stomp. And if you’ve played the games and know your Pokémon, you know what happens next...enter Tsareena! With stronger and bigger legs, she immediately gets rid of Team Rocket’s capturing equipment. Bewear steals the show out of nowhere making its obligatory snagging of the Rocket fam after their plans have failed. Even after evolving, Rowlet is still attracted to the sweet scent, but ended up getting a hard kick in the air that’s more powerful than ever. Better luck next time b0rb...I also do want to add that I am pleased that we got to see Kiawe’s Wela dance with Marowak (I believe this was the first time we saw him doing that?). It’s just like how he is portrayed in the games!
AUGUST - Mina Connection
Tumblr media
In another episode I missed on covering (during my break) was the beginning of the signs leading to the “Blinding One" (Japanese: Radiant One). One of my favorite and underrated characters from the Sun & Moon games, Mina (with her Ribombee) also makes an appearance as she served an important role to what Poipole was going to do. Our sticky Ultra Beast becomes inspired after seeing Mina’s paintings, and wanted to express the love Poipole has for its “Alolan family” using its ink. Mina also noticed how much it “like, like, loved” her paintings that she got inspired herself to draw a beautiful portrait of Ash, Kukui and Burnet (along with Poipole, Rotom Dex, Pikachu & Munchlax). That is pretty much Poipole’s Alolan family ever since getting caught by Ash. Lusamine and the others were thrilled to see how Poipole was expressing its emotions through the ink in hopes to further research the vague illustrations. Meanwhile, a certain Team Skull trio engaged in an art competition (hosted by Mina) that didn’t go so well after Tupp showed an awful (he tried his best!) drawing of his Salandit. Eventually Poipole had a dark dream of what looks to be other Poipoles and a Naganadel that looked to be very weak. Ever since that dream, Poipole started drawing very familiar shapes that seem to resemble the Blinding One.
SEPTEMBER - The United Islands of Alola
Tumblr media
The conclusion to the Poipole/Necrozma arc is probably the biggest highlight for the series in 2018. From Gladion joining the Ultra Guardians, to Team Rocket’s Matori Matrix attempting catch a fused Necrozma, to Nebby returning to assist with the mission, to rescuing and healing a weakened Lunala, to visiting Poipole’s homeworld and hear a Naganadel talk in their minds...I’m at the edge of my seat! The whole time this arc felt like it could be one Pokémon movie. This should probably make-up for why there really isn’t an Alola-region based Pokémon movie for this series specifically. But going back on topic, the entire region of Alola was still in crisis as Necrozma absorbs all the Z-power the Ultra Guardians tried to strike back with, even after separating it from Nebby. So what does everyone do? UNITE! Not just the Ultra Guardians, not just the Aether Foundation, not just the Kahunas participating in the Manalo Festival, but Alola as a whole teamed up in various locations where citizens swarmed together and gave their “light” by doing Tapu Koko’s pose to bring Necrozma back to its normal form! In one last Ultra stand, Nebby (with Ash holding Solganium Z) and Lunala (with Gladion holding Lunalium Z) gave one final blow to Necrozma. After unleashing the combination of Z-moves, Ultra Necrozma rises from the light and uses its power to restore all the damage that has been done to Alola, thus ending the chaos ensuing in the region. In other news, Faba is probably the only person to know that Professor Kukui is indeed The Masked Royal after calling in his Incineroar to ward off the Matori Matrix.
Tumblr media
Of course the most depressing thing out of all this is saying goodbye to our little sticky Poipole friend who had to go back to its home world. Before leaving, it painted Ash & Pikachu’s face as a goodbye gesture. The flashback scenes, and the music in the end was absolutely magnificent to top it all off! We’ll miss you old friend…the series isn’t over yet, so maybe we’ll see it again one day :’D
OCTOBER - Pika Pika Sunday Funday...~pika!
Tumblr media
In the heels of releasing our Poipole friend back to its home world, the anime has officially made its move Sunday nights in Japan (episodes have always aired on Thursdays since 1997, so this was pretty historic). Our heroes obviously need some rest and good ol’ fun after what they’ve been through with the Necrozma crisis. We find Ash, Kiawe, and his little sister Mimo visit a Pikachu Valley where they meet a Pikarla, a huge Pikachu fangirl enthusiast. Pikarla gives everyone (including Rotom Dex) a set of Pikachu ear headbands and tails during their entire stay at the valley to the point where she gives them all Pika-names! She even gave Team Rocket some Pika-attire when they came in after Mimikyu hazes the valley in anger (you probably know why). As Team Rocket uses their Mimikium Z to capture all the Pikachu, Pikarla steps in and pulls down one of her wrist bracelets revealing a Z-Ring. She and her shiny Pikachu, Bancho, perform the Z-move Catastropika to release all the Pikachu that have been caught by Team Rocket as they blasted off in the distance (don’t worry Bewear catches them lol). Ash was interested with the move...now if only his Pikachu learned, or should I say re-learn, Volt Tackle :| In the end, Pikarla assembles all of the Pikachu in the valley that was rescued for a roll call with descriptive and specific names for each one. Unfortunately for Ash and Kiawe, they stuck around for that full roll call which literally took the entire day!
NOVEMBER - Hau long have we waited for him!?
Tumblr media
FINALLY, Hau makes his long overdue appearance in the anime! Even though we haven’t seen his malasada loving personality yet, I’m just satisfied that we have a worthy rival and new friend for Ash. During this timeline, he still has yet to defeat his grandfather’s trial (Kahuna Hala) in which Ash already did. Impressed by his accolades, he challenges Ash to a battle with his Dartrix. Due to Rowlet’s lack of training, Ash is defeated but promises to beat Hau in their next rematch the following day. Determined for Rowlet to get stronger, he goes back to the place where our birb got raised. Thanks to Toucannon and our Trumbeak friends in a very unique training session (I mean with how Ash demonstrated Bullet Seed), Rowlet is now able to use Seed Bomb! During that process however, it did swallow an Everstone which does prevent it from evolving. When Ash gets his rematch with Hau, he is victorious and the seed spitting paid off! Hau is heavily upset by the loss (nearly tearing up), but quickly picks himself up vowing to battle Ash again after clearing Hala’s trial. I’m just so happy of Hau’s friendly but competitive rival attitude towards Ash, and actually seeing him as strong opponent not to be taken likely. As for our little round birb, I’m not surprised if it won’t be evolving anytime soon because of the Everstone it loves swallow, but hey you never know! One day it could get sick of it, and spit it out for good :3 Then it will grow into a healthy and powerful Decidueye! But for now, I guess the world still needs a lovable Rowlet at all times.
DECEMBER - The Eevee of the Sea, Nagisa
Tumblr media
Eevee, where are you going? That has been the question for the past two months ever since this shaggy little Pokémon showed up in special shorts at every end of the episode. Well the Eevee finally reached its destination in the Alola region making friends with Pikachu and others. Meanwhile, Lana and her sisters are thrilled when they heard that their dad is finally coming home. While shopping for supplies for the warm welcome, Lana’s Popplio recognizes an Eevee that is getting chased by an Alolan Persian (the same one that bullied Litten before!) and decides to chase after it. After a whacky and adventurous run around the city, they were able to lose site of Pershie but ran into Team Skull grunts by the beach. When Rapp and Tupp have an argument (and a tug of war with Eevee’s body) on who gets to keep Eevee, Ash & friends were there to break it up! The grunts struck back with all their Pokémon ready for battle, but Lana decides to personally take it in her own hands and commands Popplio to use Aqua Jet, only to have it develop into a wonderful Surf attack. With Eevee joining by Popplio’s side, it gave the final attack with a big Double-Edge to send them flying. The highlight of all this is when Lana gets encouraged by her classmates to capture this ocean loving Eevee as her own, and I like the fact that she used Dive Ball to do it! Not just that, she also nicknames it “Nagisa” (from what I understand it means beach). This is what I’ve been wanting for the anime to have consistently in the past, to use different types of Poké balls and give more options for nicknames just like how it always offers us in the games. Not only did Popplio gain a best friend in Nagisa, but is now part of the Lana’s family with a brand new and clean haircut. It even gave her father the most welcoming and loving gesture of all...a tackle attack to the gut <3
Some honorable mentions…
Tumblr media
2018 for PokéAni was one heck of an ULTRA year! It mainly revolved around the Ultra Guardians’ missions in bringing back the Ultra Beasts to where they came from. Other than that, we also got to see Lana & Mallow’s childhood past, the Wela Volcano Hikers return, Rotom Dex shenanigans with form changing and even joining the set of Detective Laki. We got 1-hour specials seeing Lana make friends with a Dewpider plus seeing Mallow’s big brother visiting home, and the recent 2-parter with Dia and his Zeraora in the mysterious Ultra Ruin. For Team Rocket, they temporarily get an Alolan Meowth in their base until it got promoted to HQ, but gets a permanent family member with a Stufful later on (Bewear’s child). We were introduced to the notorious Viren (you may know him as Bourgain in Japanese) who wanted to take down a family ranch, the Battle Royal Dome, and even build his own resort tower all for selfish profit! We also had fun ones like Ash dressing up as a female nurse the class helping Nurse Joy at the Pokémon Center, a field trip to a hot spring paradise resort, and the class making their own school play. We also had bizarre ones like Faba accidentally shrinking Ash, Lillie & Sophocles, or Acerola’s haunted house turning into a real ghost Pokémon fantasy. I also want to mention one of the more emotional ones such as the Minior episode where we were first introduced to Molayne and his observatory. Such a strong theme of having precious memories with a sad outcome due to the nature of that certain Pokémon :(
Team Skull were featured in quite a couple of episodes this year as well, and I can’t wait to see what they bring in 2019! Could it finally be the year of Guzma? Or maybe it might be the year of The Masked Royal? We saw a lot of him too this past year, and I’m sure Professor Burnet would love to see more of that...she did hold his hand after all :> Overall, I like the fact that the Sun & Moon anime gave us a variety of different stories every week because of how different each theme and storytelling is. Just look at the list of episodes we’ve had this year, and it’s amazing how we still get some character development out of most of them. If you are still thinking on whether or not to continue watching the series (or if you never started yet), please do watch! It can only get better from here, and I’m sure we’ll get news of an Alola League sooner or later.
And there you have it! There are some moments that I didn’t mention here since this post as long as it already is, so I’ll stop here. If you’ve read everything I had to say (I probably got typos don’t I? lol), then thank you for your time! Feel free share your own favorite PokéAni moment 2018 with a reblog or a reply if you choose to do so. Thanks again for an amazing year, and it’s time for us to ENNJOOYYY 2019′s fun moments and maybe even some surprises. We ended the year with Brock & Misty, and we’re starting 2019 with Brock & Misty! Now that is how you end with a bang and kick-off a party. See y’all in 2019 in what possibly could be the last year for this series. Let’s go and make the most of it ;)
Tumblr media
Happy New Year to all my followers, and the rest of the Pokémon fandom!

Tell us about the AUs. all of them.
Friend, that is a lot of AUs.
But okay!!
I won’t go immensely in-depth because a) that’d take forever and b) I want to do separate posts and drawings and stuff for a bunch of these
Okay, so, going in the order that I mentioned them in the tags:
(whoops this is going under a cut because It Got Long)
The Pokemon AU
More of a fusion than strictly an AU, I guess, because it’s pretty much “canon, but there are pokemon”.
I’ve determined full teams for the whole ‘crew, along with the genders, levels, abilities, natures, and movesets of all of their pokemon. I got… really into it. I went way too detailed with their teams. I even know what kind of pokeball each of their pokemon are in. I’m in the process of nicknaming them. I’ve also got scatterings of backstory for how they came to have each of the pokemon in their teams!
For now, I’ll tell you what their teams are, along with the nicknames and such of their pokemon. More in-depth stuff (such as aforementioned abilities and movesets and also the backstories) should probably be saved for a different post.
Diath:
“Cath” - Klefki - ♂
Ninjask - ♀
Scyther - ♀
Liepard - ♂
“Dawnguide” - Absol - ♀
“Gutter” - Aegislash - ♂
The pattern I went with for nicknaming Diath’s pokemon is based off of the one thing we’ve seen him name in canon - Moonsplinter. So the nicknames for his pokemon, when I eventually come up with them, will be two nouns put together into a name that connects what was named to someone or something important to him. Cath and Gutter are exceptions to the pattern because they were gift pokemon and came with the names (…sort of, in Cath’s case).
Evelyn:
“Morning Glory” - Rapidash - ♀
“Periwinkle” - Lycanroc (Midnight Forme) - ♀
“Thistleberry” - Eevee - ♂
“Sunflower” - Larvesta - ♀
“Jonquil” - Solrock - N/A
“Juniper” - Pichu - ♀
The pattern I went with for nicknaming Evelyn’s pokemon started with Morning Glory and Juniper - I figured that since Evelyn showed a predilection towards plant names in canon, it was as good a theme as any to run with. Thistleberry is the closest to breaking that pattern, since I’ve been unable to find out if that’s actually a real plant (I’ve found thimbleberries but not thistleberries, so I feel like they might be a fantasy thing) in which case you could argue that he was named for Evelyn’s favourite pie. The reasoning for Sunflower should be obvious, a jonquil is a kind of flower similar to a daffodil which sort of resembles a sun in shape, and periwinkles mean “early friendship” in flower language, and Evie sure does make friends fast.
Jonquil may or may not mean “I desire a return of affection” in flower language but sshhhh, that was unintentional
Strix:
“Fuzzywuzz” - Venomoth - ♂
“Waffles” - Ursaring - ♀
Mismagius - ♀
“Stinky Junior” - Garbodor - ♀
“Clothy McClothface” - Banette - ♀
“Stinky” - Alolan Rattata - ♂
I don’t think I really need to explain the pattern/theme for naming Strix’s pokemon because, well, *gestures at canon* I just tried to follow the existing naming patterns.
Paultin:
“Palpatine” - Malamar - ♂
Exploud- ♂
“Charlotte” - Chatot - ♀
Gengar - ♂
“Peter” - Baltoy  - ♂
Alolan Marowak- ♀
I don’t strictly have a naming pattern for Paultin, wildcard that he is. I’ve just been operating on a general rule of “regular real life name that sounds fitting” (a la him naming Simon) or “reference”.
The Superhero AU
You are getting far less information about this one because it’s going to be getting posts of its own when I finally get the drawings for it finished - I’m going to do character profiles and everything.
The basic premise is a vaguely-modern-era-ish Waterdeep (in a vaguely-modern-era-ish Faerun) has a lot of superheroes running around and the Wafflecrew happens to be one of the teams that call the city home. Diath, Strix, Evelyn and Paultin are all doing the secret identity thing and there will be shenanigans involving those because, well, here’s the thing:
The Wafflecrew is a superhero team who’s members keep their identities secret even from each other, mostly because they haven’t been together as a team for very long yet.
Diath, Strix, Evelyn, and Paultin, however, are a group of friends who happen to share a flat. Who are all trying very hard not to let on to their friends that they’re a superhero.
So. Shenanigans.
(Well, except for Diath and Strix. They know about each other’s secret identities)
I won’t tell you everyone’s codenames, though, because ~character profiles~ :3c
The Daemon AU
This one is more loosely defined than the others, to be honest. I will say, straight up, that I have never read His Dark Materials and don’t have any particular intent to, because I’ve read enough excerpts to know I could never get through it. But the concept of daemons is really cool and fun and I’ve read a ton of daemon aus and I feel no shame in yoinking the concept for an au despite never having read the source material.
Evelyn’s daemon is a Norwegian Forest Cat named Carwyn, Paultin’s is a lyrebird named Leto, Strix’s is a Barred Owl named Cináed, and Diath’s… well, if you were to ask him, he’d tell you that his daemon is a very shy house spider named Perdita. The thing is, nobody’s ever actually seen her…
Diath may or may not be in a Special Situation in this AU thanks to the whole ancient-soul-that-Shemeshka-has-part-of circumstance
The Class Swap AU
This one!! Is one that I love!! a lot!! And also one that I fully intend to give its own post with art.
It started with me realising that Mason Marthain existing presented the perfect Backstory Butterfly to play with things a little and justify Evelyn being a rogue in a class swap AU. From there, I just kept playing with their backstories to see what there was that could be tugged on to shift them to one of each other’s classes. Ultimately, my class swap AU stands as such:
Evelyn Marthain, a swashbuckler rogue. Inspired by a slightly different family member, in this universe, Evelyn decided at a young age that rather than follow in her father’s footsteps, she wanted to follow in her uncle’s. Thus, rather than training at the Spires and taking on the mantle of a paladin, she apprenticed on her Uncle’s ship throughout her childhood, and eventually became a rogue.
Diath Woodrow, an oath of devotion paladin. A childhood on the streets went just a little bit differently for Diath, this time around. After a paladin caught him preventing another street kid from pickpocketing, he got taken in by the Church of Selune and found a calling that appealed to his sense of duty and his desire for adventure at the same time. (How does the oath of devotion’s call to obey just authority mix with being chaotic good, you might ask? Well, how does one define “just” authority? In Class Swap!Diath’s case, as soon as someone abuses their power, their authority is no longer just)
Paultin Seppa, a wild magic sorceror. Paultin honestly doesn’t know where his powers came from. They’ve been at the tips of his fingers for as long as he can remember. It probably has something to do with the big swath of his childhood that he can’t remember but he’s not particularly bothered with trying to figure it out. (The thing is, a panicking, traumatised child, very much going into shock, tearing through the mists of Barovia and out of Ravenloft, all on his own and without parental supervision for the very first time, has so much potential to go wrong. He stumbled through a few less than hospitable places before he ended up on the Prime Material)
Strix, a college of glamour bard. Her years in the Feywild were harsh and this time it wasn’t Baba Yaga whose care she stumbled into. She learned a lot, living amongst the fey, and not least amongst that was how a silver tongue, with words carefully chosen and used, is a magic all of its own and also a very dangerous weapon.
I can’t say anything about the two AUs I’m currently writing fics for because spoilers~ so just know that They Exist
The Star Wars AU is extremely conceptual. It features aspiring Jedi Knight Evelyn Marthain, an Alderaanian human raised in the Coruscant Jedi Temple, travelling musician Paultin Seppa, a human of mysterious origin who has an even more mysterious knowledge of the Force, given that he seemingly has no connection to any known Force sects, galactic treasure hunter/archaeologist Diath Woodrow, a human from Coronet City on Corellia, whose heritage may-or-may-not have originated on a certain planet starting with ‘M’, and Strix, a force-sensitive woman of indeterminate species (at first glance, you might think zabrak, but zabraks don’t have tails. They also usually don’t have hair but it’s not like hybrids are completely an unknown possibility… the thing is, if she’s a hybrid, there’s no way she’s a hybrid of just two)
The RWBY AU is Exactly What It Says On The Tin. It’s just an AU where the Wafflecrew are in Remnant. They comprise Team DEPS (”Deeps”) and all I’ve really figured out is their weapons and semblances and tbh, as an AU, it’s probably not going much further than that.
I had a Lot of fun with their semblances, though.

Buneary lives in a town where a large rescue guild has their home base. The guild (obviously) focuses mainly on rescue missions; helping any pokemon in need in any way. It has grown so large that there are several branches of the guild that are stationed around the continent, and while they each have their own guild leader, the one true leader of everyone is a Sceptile that lives in the home base.
Tumblr media
Sceptile has been rescuing and helping other pokemon since he was a treecko, first starting out at a different guild near his home town, but now is in charge of a large guild of his own. Sceptile has been known to be very serious, but is kind to everyone in need, and especially has a soft spot for children. Even though he is the head of the guild, he still often goes out on missions, especially to the more dangerous dungeons or if certain teams are already busy at the time. He is also Typhlosion’s partner.
Tumblr media
Typhlosion is “second in command” to the guild, and Sceptile’s partner (both in terms of team and being together). The two of them started out as a team together in the same town and have been inseparable ever since. Typhlosion shares Sceptile’s passion for helping others, and helps him in any way possible to keep things organized and keep the many teams in check. Typhlosion is the more popular of the two however, for being a lot more friendly and outgoing than his partner, and they’re both ok with this.
Tumblr media
Decidueye is in charge of the town cafe, very often visited by the teams from the guild. She’s very kind and shows gratitude to each of the teams and her good food keeps them energized and motivated. She’s also not afraid to jump in if a fight breaks out in her cafe; she is quick and silent, often catches whoever started the fight off guard, swiftly throwing them out with a warning. Decidueye and her partner were part of the guild for a while, but they retired early to just enjoy life in the town and start up the cafe for the other teams to enjoy. She is also Milotic’s partner.
Tumblr media
Milotic is Decidueye’s (old and current) partner. She helps out with the cafe by helping grow everything they need. She also offers friendly conversation to those that just want to sit and talk with someone, some of the teams call her “the water therapist”, for she is very wise and patient and offers good advice. Her favorite part from being a rescue team with Decidueye was helping pokemon, but going through dungeons was never her strong point. Sceptile does stop at the cafe from time to time and he’d sometimes ask if the two of them would ever return since they did such great work, but they both decline and say they’d only go out if there was a real emergency.
Tumblr media
Whimsicott is an apprentice to Decidueye and Milotic. She came into the town one day during her travels and was so pleased and inspired by the both of them that she asked to stay and learn from them. Whimsicott is learning how to cook, clean, and properly handle customers. While she wasn’t too bad from the start, she still has a long way to go before being able to handle it on her own, but she doesn’t mind how long it takes at all. Whimsicott wants to do her best and also make all the teams feel comfortable and welcome.
Tumblr media
Lycanroc is in charge of the town bank, and is Rockruff’s mother. She is very proud and encouraging of her child being in the guild, but still worries about them every time they go out for a mission. Lycanroc is very organized and keeps the bank nice and clean, and is quick to turn mean and cruel if a pokemon tries to steal from her or is mean to another pokemon in her presence. Some of the teams are a little scared of her, even though she’s friendly to most of them. Lycanroc used to have a passion for traveling before settling in town with her partner and having a child.
Tumblr media
Raichu is in charge of the town storage. It used to be that everything stayed with the teams at the guild, but it quickly became a problem, and Sceptile hired Raichu to get things organized. The building sits right next to the guild, so the teams don’t have to go far at all to store or grab items. She has everything organized by teams, and then by item types, and all of it is labeled carefully. Her ability to hover around on her tail makes it convenient for her to grab things from higher up drawers, and then she uses her psychic ability to carry it all down to the waiting team. All of the teams love her for her bubbly personality, and she’s had several pokemon try to ask her out, but she turns them all down, saying “there’s someone i already have in mind”.
Tumblr media
While it is not normally allowed for any pokemon to register solo for the rescue guild, Jolteon is the only exception. Jolteon absolutely refuses to have a partner, even though Sceptile, Typhlosion, and other pokemon have warned him that it’s dangerous to go into any dungeon alone. But he does such a good job on missions that Sceptile made the exception for him to be on his own. Jolteon does get other pokemon offering their help, either to join their team or a new pokemon coming in that wants to team up with him, but he turns them all down. He also refuses to answer to why he won’t take a partner, just saying “it’s better this way”.
Tumblr media
Before Buneary and Jangmo-o, the latest team to join the guild was a Rockruff and a Wooper. Rockruff was born and raised in the town, so they always looked up to Sceptile and everyone else in the guild. They trained hard in certain dungeons and even helped a younger pokemon in need one day when they just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Sceptile usually doesn’t take in super young teams, but Rockruff and Wooper showed him that they were both ready. They still only take small/easy jobs, but they know that they’re still helping and it’s all they really wanted.
Tumblr media
Wooper isn’t as passionate as Rockruff is when it comes to their work at the guild, but she still enjoys helping others in need. She hopes one day that Rockruff can be a great rescuer, known far and wide for their hard work and passion. She actually has a small crush on them, but has only really admitted it to Milotic (who of course keeps it a secret). While Wooper isn’t as fast as her partner, she’s a hard hitter and has a talent of noticing small things in pokemon. It’s hard to lie around her without her noticing the smallest tick or twitch, which actually did help the team on one occasion when a rescue mission almost went bad when the pokemon that needed help almost led them into a trap.
extra notes!
Lycanroc does have a Lycanroc partner/husband, he just doesn’t have an important job in town so he’s not really mentioned.
if you couldn’t tell, Sceptile and Typhlosion are a gay couple, and Decidueye and Milotic are a lesbian couple.
Rockruff goes by they/them, and will one day evolve into dusk form lycanroc.
Raichu desperately wants to help Jolteon become more social and accepting of others’ help, but it’s hard to get to talk with him when she’s so busy with her job and Jolteon takes on a lot of missions at a time and rarely goes out otherwise.
this town is fucking huge, so there’s a lot of pokemon that live in it, these are just the important ones. there might be other teams added on, but this is it for now.
speaking of which, most of the town’s residents work in the guild in some way, there aren’t too many pokemon that just live in the town are aren’t part of the guild somehow. like Buneary, she wasn’t part of the guild until Jangmo-o came along.
Buneary secretly holds Raichu as a rival for “the sweetest/most loved pokemon in town”, but Raichu doesn’t care too much about who’s “better”.

Have you ever witnessed or encountered signs of Pokemon abuse?
Sorry for the sad topic
Sadly yeah, a fair few times, plus when the local authorities are really busy i’m called up to go collect pokemon from bad homes, or do checks on people who have had pokemon protection agencies called on them, and occasionally i’ll be travelling new regions or old stomping grounds, and catch sight of it personally.
As much as possible I do try to get the pokemon off of them, even if not in the most....legal ways. I’ve been known to steal one or two sure, but only when theres no other logical way to get the individual away from a bad handler. Before resorting to theft I do run my hefty book of tricks to get their pokemon away. Trading their pokemon for my “super rare” partner who’s just an illusion created by a hidden psychic pokemon is one of my fav ways to get them away.
most of my team and partners on the island are with me because I picked them up from abusive situations, its never...intentional, we plan to rehome a lot of them after they've become more confident and happy, but you know how it is. You get a nervous pokemon in, you spend countless hours together correcting the old habits, caring for them, working with them on learning to cope away from abuse, and before you realise it they’re in your home, with you at every turn, even helping you with pokemon who come in afterwards who had the same bad sort of life. Its very hard to work closely with any individual without finding things to love about them, or bonding over time spent training and working together.
My current project is a Midday Lycanroc, but prior to them, it was a pretty beat up Toxicroak, and prior to that a 6-pack of very sickly looking Pumpkaboo. the list goes on, they all come in with various issues, and we do what we can to fix and find good homes for them. So far all bar 1 of the pumpkaboo have found new trainers, its usually a good turn around for the rescues we take in.
Anything too dangerous or deemed difficult, we don’t rehome, but also don’t put down. Its not something we believe in here unless a pokemon is suffering with severe pain. We have enough space to let them roam about on the north side of the island, away from harms way, living a relatively hassle free, natural life. If they’re suited to other regions, we have a few colleagues dotted about with other facilities built for housing pokemon who prefer to be away from people.
I’d go into details but Its a broad topic, i wouldn't know where to start! There is details about the current Lycanroc rescue a few posts prior to this, should you be interested.

Lucky Save | PKMN Trainer!Jungkook
Tumblr media
→ summary: In which Jeon Jungkook is a scatterbrained Pokemon trainer who cannot catch a break and you are the saving grace he needs.
→ genre: pokemon!au, fluff
→ words: 2K
→ a/n: happy bday kook lmao this is dedicated to our hopeless dreams of becoming a pkmn master someday rip
Tumblr media
You would think that after six months of travelling the Alola region by himself, Jungkook should have had at least 25% of his shit together.
He had thought that he had stocked up on hyper potions and revives when he had left Seafolk Village the previous morning.
The keyword: thought.
When in fact, he had left the center without a second thought, not noticing how his backpack wasn’t as full as he had imagined. Now that he was already halfway across the island and with no other Pokemon centers in sight, you could say without a shadow of a doubt that Jeon Jungkook was fucked.
“Aw, this is definitely my fault,” he sighed in defeat, kicking his empty backpack in anger. His Incineroar, whom Jungkook had aptly nicknamed Blaze, only watched with concern as his trainer continuously kicked a nearby berry tree to alleviate his frustrations.
“Stupid, stupid—oh shit, another fucking Crabominable?!” He yelped, realizing belatedly that the pile of berries he had just kicked was the home to the angry Pokemon who wasted no time readying to attack the still distracted boy. Luckily, Blaze was more on top of things than Jungkook, so he quickly scared the crab Pokemon away with a powerful Flamethrower.
Watching the Crabonimable scuttle away, Jungkook only sent his partner a wry grin. “Well, that was close, wasn’t it?”
“Roar!” Blaze scolded, tapping his trainer’s head lightly in admonishment. Had he been a second too late, the Crabominable could have easily punted Jungkook across the island with one well-aimed punch. Blaze already had his own problems, and his trainer being punted halfway across the island would just add to his steadily growing list of concerns. (Half of which could have been avoided if Jungkook had the foresight to plan and think ahead before setting off without another thought.)
“Sorry, sorry,” Jungkook apologized meekly, rubbing his neck in embarrassment. “I keep messing up today, don’t I?”
The Incineroar only shook its head tiredly, assuring him that it could have happened to anyone (anyone as stupid as Jungkook, but Blaze kindly chose not to comment.)
Due to not having any healing items on hand, Jungkook was now down to only his Incineroar and Lycanroc (nicknamed Rock because Jungkook was creative like that.) He had to choose his battles carefully to avoid more unnecessary casualties, which was easier said than done. Mostly because there was so much—
“Fucking hell, why is there so much tall grass here?” He screeched, narrowly avoiding making eye contact with a horde of Ribombees. “Fuck, that was close. Blaze, stay close.”
Even had Jungkook not said that, Blaze was already trailing closely behind, making sure that Jungkook did not accidentally anger any more Pokemon wildlife. Truly, Blaze wondered whether he was the trainer in this relationship.
“Don’t worry, Blaze. We’re almost at the Battle Tree. I think there’s a center there where we can rest,” he said, grunting slightly as he tried climbing a huge rock. Unbeknownst to Jungkook, the rock was actually very much alive and did not appear to be happy being disturbed of its sleep.
Faster than Jungkook could utter a quiet “Oh fuck,” Blaze quickly grabbed his trainer by the waist and sprinted away in the opposite direction, unwilling to waste precious energy to defeat the large and angry Crustle.
And that, my dear reader, was how you met Jeon Jungkook:
Jungkook, being carried by the waist Simba-style by an overgrown fire cat, while also being chased by an overgrown hermit crab.
Who said first impressions had to be perfect?
You had been on the way to the Battle Tree yourself, although you could say that you were having less trouble travelling than your would-be acquaintance. You had been perched on a (real) rock with your Primarina, both of you sharing a cool lemonade before continuing on your journey when the screams of a visibly distressed boy made you pause from taking your next sip.
You side-eyed your partner to see that she was also watching the spectacle as well. She met your glance with a look of understanding, a silent conversation happening between the two of you after almost a year of travelling together.
“Yeah, yeah; I agree. We probably should help,” you eventually sighed, your eyes now trained on the trainer-Pokemon duo still running away from the enraged Crustle.
Standing up from your perch, you commanded your partner to aim straight at the Crustle’s back. “Alright, Primarina. Use Scald!”
At once, your trusty Primarina let out a blast of blistering water. It hit right on target, making the Crustle scream out in surprise and stopping it in its tracks.
Coming to a halt now that the immediate danger was busy shaking off the hot water, the Incineroar and its trainer had now noticed the pair of you, both of them running to meet you.
The trainer, still raised up in the air by his Pokemon, waved at you with a genial smile, as if he was not being chased by a giant hermit crab Pokemon just seconds ago.
“Wow, thanks for helping us! But uh, don’t rest yet, because I think the Crustle is mad at you now.”
Lo and behold, the trainer was right. When you looked back, the Crustle was in the midst of preparing to launch a Stone Edge at your Primarina, but luckily the huge Pokemon was no match when it came to your partner's speed.
“Let’s finish it off! Primarina, use Hydro Pump!”
The intense jet of water produced by Primarina promptly faints the Crustle with one blow, finally sating the Pokemon. You patted your partner’s head in thanks, to which it sang merrily back at you.
The male trainer had watched the quick defeat with a look of pure admiration in his doe-eyes. “Woah, dude. You’re super strong. We should fight!”
Amidst the afterglow of a successful battle, you had almost forgotten about the person you had defeated the Crustle for in the first place. You turned to look at your newfound acquaintance, who was no longer being held up by his Pokemon. He was now standing in front of you, a large toothy grin on his handsome face. He was holding his hand out to you, offering a handshake. After your initial hesitance, you found that his hands were soft and warm.
If you thought his hands were soft and warm, then you were definitely not prepared to witness his smile. His grin was blindingly cute, his eyes squinting adorably from the pure glee on his face.
Were you gaping? Yeah, you were gaping. Man, did you strike gold or something?
“Oh right, sorry. I have to introduce myself first before we battle. My name is Jungkook! You are?”
Still busy gaping, your Primarina nudged you out of your trance, eliciting an embarrassed blush on your end. Oops. “Uhh—Y/N. Yeah, that’s my name. Nice to meet you, Jungkook.”
“Oh, Y/N? That’s a cute name! A cute name for a cute trainer. Thank Arceus that my savior happened to be a pretty girl, right Blaze?” He giggled (HE FUCKING GIGGLED), turning to his Incineroar for confirmation. The fire cat nodded its head in agreement.
That embarrassed blush from earlier? Yup, you’re pretty sure the blush had spread all the way down to your ass at this point.
Coughing the slight awkwardness away, you managed to ask, "Uh, before we battle, may I ask why you were running away from the Crustle in the first place?”
“Oh shit, I totally forgot about that!” He beamed, letting out a laugh that was almost as cute as his face. His partner shook his head, sending an almost sorry look back at you and Primarina, his eyes plainly saying ‘sorry that my trainer is an idiot.’
“Well, Blaze and I were on the way to the Battle Tree and I was trying to climb that rocky area over there to find a shortcut, but I guess I stepped on the Crustle by accident. Stupid of me, huh?”
Yeah, stupid. That was kind of an understatement, but the three listening parties chose not to comment.
“Why didn’t you just defeat the Crustle then? Your Incineroar looks pretty powerful to me.” You gestured, eyeing the fire cat Pokemon with slight wariness. If you really were going to battle the dude, you weren’t sure if Primarina could defeat it, despite the type advantage.
“Oh. That’s because, uh… I’m trying not to get into too many battles right now.”
You stared at him. “Then why did you challenge me to a battle?”
“Sorry! I just saw how powerful your Primarina was that I got hyped all of a sudden! I can never resist a good challenge—“ You had to agree with that. You were sort of itching to fight his Incineroar yourself. “—but yeah, I think I have to postpone that battle for now. My team is kinda out of commission right now.”
“Why don’t you just give them some revives?”
At the mention of revives, his bunny grin deflated a bit. “Well, about that…” he trailed off, staring at his sneakers in embarrassment.
Oh my god. Don’t fucking tell—
“You don’t have revives.” You deadpanned.
The cheeky grin on his face said it all. “Uh, yeah. I sorta, kinda, maybe, could have forgotten to stock up before leaving the center this morning. Zero points for Jungkook today, huh?”
Shaking your head at the cute, scatterbrained boy, you shucked your bag off your shoulder, already rummaging deep inside to find the items you were looking for. You immediately grabbed some revives and hyper potions before handing the items to the wide-eyed boy.
“Here you go. Take them; they’re extras that I keep on hand.”
Taken aback by the sudden kind gesture, the boy spluttered at you, with a flurry of disconnected words flying out of his mouth. “What—I can’t, no—this is too much—you’ve done—no, no, you’re a girl and I can’t—“
You raised an eyebrow at the last part. “What does me being a girl have anything to do with this?”
You noticed that tips of his ears were reddening. “NO! I didn’t mean—uh, what I meant was that I can’t possibly accept! You’ve done so much already, and we’re almost near the Battle Tree! I’m sure I can make it there unscathed.”
His Incineroar snorted at the last bit, causing Jungkook to send him a glare. You giggled at the two oddballs, not noticing the way Jungkook’s ears had perked up at the sweet sound.
“No, it’s fine. I have a bunch of extras anyway; it’s no big deal. Just take them.” you said, forcibly shoving the items into his hands. He almost dropped them out of surprise, the hyper potions almost spilling before Blaze luckily caught them.
Jungkook was still eyeing you carefully. “You sure? It’s okay?”
You found his sudden shyness endearing. “Yes. I’m sure.”
If giving him a couple of revives and hyper potions could make him this happy, then you would gladly buy all the items in the world just to make him smile so gleefully.
“Wow, a pretty trainer AND she’s kind? Why did I ever think today would be an unlucky day?”
You turned your gaze away from him, shy from his flirtatious words. You pointedly ignored the melodious giggles coming from your Primarina. “Do you always compliment girls who give you free stuff in your times of trouble?”
“Nope. Just you.” He assured you, bunny grin on full display.
You continued to ignore the high-pitched squealing coming from your partner, who was now conspicuously slapping you in glee. You mentally reminded yourself to give her the ugly-looking Pokebeans later.
“Ahem, sorry about my partner, she’s just a bit excited to battle. Speaking of,” you smiled, gesturing to his newly acquired healing items. “Now that you have your healing items, how does that battle sound now?” You challenged, already sensing your Primarina ready herself for battle.
At your words, a determined glint settled in your new friend’s eyes, the fiery thirst for battle igniting in his very being. You both already felt that this was going to be a fun battle for sure.
“Bring it."

(This post will contain some spoilers, just for you to know!)
I finished playing main story of the Pokemon Ultra Sun earlier this week, and I gotta say that it was really amazing. I loved all of it! :)
Thought I’m still sad and pissed that Gladion went to another region because I wanted him to be there during the post game and hoped that he would be in Battle Tree etc... ;___;
Anyway, here’s my team, who made this all possible, and I’m really proud of them. Especially about Lycanroc, because he has pretty poor IV’s, but he was still awesome. :)  Gengar, Tsareena and Azumarill have perfect IV’s, and the rest...Well not that great. Luckily I have lots of bottle caps in Sun, so I probably Hyper Train all of them there. :’D
And as you can see, my Primeape is shiny! It’s actually my second shiny Pokemon I’ve ever caught. (First one was Golbat, I caught while EV-training in Sun on last spring. XD) I caught her while I was searching for Bagon in Route 3. :’D And I wanted to give her nickname, so I named her after my brother’s player character in his Omega Ruby, Ace♠. And he’s player character is also girl, because he thinks that male player characters look always stupid. :’D
And here’s my starter Pokemon:
Tumblr media
I picked Litten this time, since I picked Popplio last time and I knew that I will have Azumarill in my team so I don’t want to have another Water/Fairy type, so then I chose him... But Charizard basically replaced him, because I know that I need more than one special attacker on my team, so yeah...:(
Anyway, I really enjoyed the main story, and also that “Team RR” arc or whatever it was called. I finished that one on yesterday evening. It was great to see all those past villains and get to know about their goals better. But it also made me wonder that if everyone had archived their goals and everyone of them said something like “if there was a trainer like you in my world, would I have done differently”, didn’t another player characters from the past exist? And was Red for example just champion, and not "the hero who saved Kanto from Team Rocket or...? I know that every game has their own world etc but it still confuses me a lot...:’D
I also already went to the Battle Tree, because I just wanted to see Red and Blue so bad (and also I wanted that Judge function). And it was honestly worth it, because the encounter with them was AMAZING. Even tho they said all the same things as in Sun. I could actually see their faces this time. XD  But I’m glad that Blue decided to heal your Pokemon before the battle this time. :’D
But now I try to win those 20 battles in Battle Tree so that I can get Charizardite Y. (I guess Red gives Kanto starter Mega Stones this time too, after you beat him??) It shouldn’t be a big challenge though. :) Then I need to breed Honedge for my brother since I finally managed to make him buy Ultra Moon, so that we can start to play together again. And he wanted to have that Pokemon and I was like “sure” and well yeah haha...
Well this is pretty much all of it...Sorry about such a long post! ^^” Kiki~’s out! :)

yoshi12370 replied to your photo “I said it on the post you replied to, and I’ll say it again: “Anyone...”
I still stand by that Dusk is better written than frog. Whether or not it was written for Ash, and has similarities to the frog, Lycanroc was never set up as this great thing that Ash only could unlock because He Is The Main Character. Everything about the Dusk forme revolved around Rockruff rather than Ash. I will say that Ash getting a new Lycanroc forme because he's the main character is not an inaccurate deduction because as you said this isn't new to the anime.  However what I'm saying is they handled this better. Dusk form was revealed in the game before showing Ash's Rockruff evolve into it. It already had official art from the game artist (Sugimori? I can't tell nowadays) and it's clear they put more thought into it and had planned this. Compare to Ash Greninja where it was only made to make Ash strong as a Mega User and was added to the game at last minute. The Battle Bond ability was vaguely explained and made just for Ash while Dusk is set up to be a new discovery.
Sorry for the late reply; it was six a.m. and I had to take a nap before work.
“Lycanroc was never set up as this great thing that Ash only could unlock because He Is The Main Character. Everything about the Dusk forme revolved around Rockruff rather than Ash.”
That Rockruff has a character arc of his own doesn’t make this any different from Greninja, because Greninja, too, had a character arc of his own. Ash met Froakie because Froakie had, once again, been returned to Professor Sycamore’s lab after failing to bond with a trainer. Although many trainers had attempted to raise Froakie, Froakie ended up rejecting all of them because he felt they could not help him reach his personal potential. Bond Phenomenon was as much Greninja’s journey as it was Ash’s; in fact, it could even be argued that the only reason why Ash pursued it at all was for Greninja’s sake, because Greninja wanted it. This was why Ash started to grow very uneasy and have bad dreams surrounding Greninja leaving him due to his failures, as well as why Greninja did temporarily leave him after the loss against Wulfric and Ash’s subsequent sulking fit. Ash had to win back Greninja’s favor and bond with him again, at which point Greninja---just as he had when he was a Froakie---knocked the pokéball toward Ash. Even when it comes to the lore, the myths about the special greninja were, again, myths about a special greninja, and the ancient text that Sycamore found specifically stated that only pokémon with a certain spirit or soul within them could unlock such a power. They needed the assistance of the right trainer, yes (because remember, this is just like mega evolution), but it was still always about the individual pokémon. The Bond Phenomenon arc was set up to be Greninja’s arc just as much as it was set up to be Ash’s, regardless of how much you personally enjoy Greninja’s existence.
Similarly, Rockruff---just like Froakie!---has been very invested in battling and growing stronger since day one. Just as Froakie kept rejecting trainers that he felt weren’t good enough for him, Rockruff kept sneaking off on his own to go to underground fight clubs so that he could try to force an evolution. And hell, even in this past episode, Rockruff once again went off on his own and deliberately avoided Ash because he felt that he had to do this in order to grow stronger and evolve. His “character arc” is just that he wants to fight everyone and grow stronger. It is, beat for beat, the same as Greninja’s, with the only difference that there isn’t a prophecy about him, likely because Ash is already the center of the Tapus for no explicable reason other than the fact that he’s the main character and a very special boy.
I also disagree that this evolution had nothing to do with Ash. Rockruff evolved into Dusk Lycanroc after Tapu Lele healed him, and Tapu Lele healed him after using Draining Kiss on Ash (as well as Gladion and Olivia’s lycanroc). The inference, then, is that Ash’s life energy was used to help Rockruff evolve. In other words, Ash was a necessary component, and it’s highly likely (almost certain!) Rockruff would not have achieved this form without him. So no, this really is not different from Ash-Greninja.
“Dusk form was revealed in the game before showing Ash's Rockruff evolve into it.”
Uhhhh, no, not really.
Dusk Lycanroc was only announced four days ago, and even then, it was because people were clamoring for Corocoro leaks as usual. That they included Dusk Lycanroc in this month’s Corocoro is absolutely because the anime got to the Rockruff evolution episode, and Game Freak felt they couldn’t wait any longer, likely because Dusk Lycanroc is going to be the anime shill for USUM. (Though that’s not guaranteed yet, I don’t think. It’s always possible they could release it in regular SM, but since USUM will likely be out in a couple months, I doubt it.) Dusk Lycanroc is the only news we’ve received about USUM since the announcement teaser. This is undoubtedly because the anime was going to “spoil” it, and so they had no choice but to say something now, particularly since saying, “Hey kiddos! You, too, can train this pokémon that Ash has if you buy the new games!” is a tactic they’ve been using to sell the games to anime-only fans for years now. It’s, again, the exact reason why Ash-Greninja was included in the SM demo. They really wanted to grab the anime fans.
So no, Dusk Lycanroc was not revealed in the game before the anime. It was shown in Corocoro (leaks) at about the same time as the anime episode aired because the anime episode aired and they couldn’t hold off any longer.
“it's clear they put more thought into it and had planned this. Compare to Ash Greninja where it was only made to make Ash strong as a Mega User and was added to the game at last minute.”
Nope. Let’s check the receipts.
After the conclusion of XY&Z, an interview was conducted with the current director, Yajima. And in that interview, Yajima revealed that Ash-Greninja was Game Freak’s idea and was planned from the start. Specifically:
“Yajima wanted to make the bond between Satoshi and Gekkouga a major part of the story, but felt it would be difficult to do so if it had to remain a Gekkouga, so he went to Game Freak, and they came up with the idea of a synchro transformation. It was put in Sun/Moon afterwards, but was created during this discussion between anime staff and GF.”
While it’s true that Yajima wanted a way to show that the bond between Ash and Greninja was special (so less about making Ash stronger, more about showing that his relationship with Greninja had reached new heights), the fact remains that Game Freak had this in their pocket since the start of the series. My guess is that they saved the special event for SM because there was never a Z Version for Kalos, and with ORAS it made more sense to have events with Shiny Beldum and whatnot due to the fact that Steven, too, was an important character in the anime again, and he’s a Hoenn character / the Hoenn Champion. Regardless, acting as if Ash-Greninja was cobbed together by the anime staff at the last minute is false. It wasn’t even their idea, it was Game Freak’s.
And as far as concept art goes, I will admit that I don’t know if Sugimori did art of Ash-Greninja specifically. I do know, though, that he did draw XY!Ash in the same pose and expression as Red from FRLG, so once again it’s not like Game Freak was hands off for the Kalos saga of the anime. They were just as involved then as they are now.
“The Battle Bond ability was vaguely explained and made just for Ash while Dusk is set up to be a new discovery.”
I disagree that Bond Phenomenon was vaguely explained. Bond Phenomenon was foreshadowed before it happened with the ninja village’s lore, particularly since Bonnie pointed out that the heroic greninja depicted in the monument was different from other greninja she had seen before. Then, after the kids realized that Ash’s greninja was transforming, Clemont created inventions to test the energy between them, as well as their vital signs, letting the audience know that the two were in sync (or, as Game Freak calls it, synchro) and connected. Then later still, just in case anyone still had any questions, Sycamore reveals the results of his research in XYZ036, giving the transformation the name “Bond Phenomenon” and explaining that although it is extremely rare (and therefore shouldn’t be limited to just Ash!), there have been recordings of it throughout history. Certain pokémon (as in, individuals, not species) have the right kind of spirit within them that allows them to unlock this hidden potential when they are united with the right trainer. That is pretty cut and dry. We’re told exactly what this transformation is, exactly why it happens, and we’re further given a motivation for Greninja’s desire to battle and grow stronger beyond “well, it’s fun lol.” Froakie / Frogadier / Greninja was so dead set on finding a trainer that could unlock his potential because, although he didn’t know of the legend, he could feel he had greater power within him. And he knew Ash was the trainer who could help him because their spirits / souls were in sync, something he could feel thanks to Bond Phenomenon. None of that is vague. It’s right there in the episodes.
In comparison, Rockruff also really wanted to battle all the time and was dead set on evolving, because . . . it’s fun and he’s aggressive. And he evolved into Dusk Lycanroc because Tapu Lele healed him after absorbing life energy from two other lycanroc and Ash, and that + howling at the sunset caused him to evolve into a never before seen form because . . . because. As far as I can tell, no other explanation was given. I’m really not seeing the masterful leap in storytelling you’re saying exists here. If anything, at this moment in time (and this could change), far less has been done to explain Dusk Lycanroc than with Ash-Greninja, particularly since Ash-Greninja at least had some foreshadowing (even if it was quick foreshadowing, though to be honest the Ash-Greninja transformation in the ninja village was very brief, so the real appearance didn’t come until later), whereas Dusk Lycanroc had none.
Lastly, I’d argue that having Dusk Lycanroc be a new discovery is even worse since it’s a new discovery Just For Ash. The fact that history exists in Kalos to show that Bond Phenomenon has happened before means that it’s not that Ash is a child of the gods, but rather that he just happened to meet the right pokémon at the right time. (I still maintain that the right pokémon for this is Pikachu, but whatever.) In fact, XYZ036 set it up so that it would have been reasonable to show other trainers (and one specific trainer, at that) unlock this power during the finale. By specifically stating within the canon that this has happened before, with others, they’re saying that what Ash is doing isn’t new. It’s extremely rare and therefore special, but it’s not new.
But with Dusk Lycanroc? It’s both special and new! No one else has ever evolved their rockruff into a dusk lycanroc! It’s a brand new thing that Ash was able to do because he is the protagonist and is special therefore. Similarly, Tapu Koko just gave him a Z-Ring for no reason because, well, he’s the protagonist and is special therefore. There might not be a prophecy about Ash in Alola (yet), but they’re still making him just as much of a special sunflower as Kalos did. Dusk Lycanroc is blatantly his Ash-Greninja equivalent. They’re exactly the same. The Alola anime has changed the art style, has tried to change the genre, and changed what one-dimensional trope they’ve based Ash on this time, but they haven’t changed the fact that they’re creating things to make him more special than the rest. That has stayed exactly the same.

Through the Storm
From the start --> Previous chapter
Chapter Four:
The walls of Professor Oak's lab were lined from ceiling to floor in thick books. Titles ranging from things relating to the overall population of Kanto, to specific species of Pokémon. Large machines whirred in the background and an interesting assortment of the native beats wandered the lab, aiding assistants with their work or just lounging in corners.
The man himself was short, square faced, and entirely grey. He welcomed me ceremoniously with a large grin and a steady handshake. His hands were so raw with callouses that I felt as though I needed lotion after simply shaking hands.
He directed me towards a side room of the lab where some thick binders sat on a round table. I could tell by the scribbled words on the cover that Oak's work laid between the plastic. He promised my time here wouldn't be mostly reading and would actually include some hands on experimenting and sampling of the Kanto population, but for today it would be most beneficial for me to read as much as possible.
So that's what I did nearly all day. Sat at that round table with my nose in binders full of research findings and questions. As monotonous as it was, the content was shockingly interesting and exciting so I never got too distracted or bored.
Towards the end of the day I moved on to the last binder, a significantly thinner piece of research than the ones I had worked through. The cover was black and speckled with gold, a sheet of paper with a drawn rune on the front sparked my interest.
The index held nothing other than Pokémon names and page numbers, nothing I recognized at all. Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, and MewTwo.
Articuno, currently believed to be sleeping somewhere in the depths of sea foam cave, was one of the three legendary birds. An ice and flying type and that held unspeakable power. I wondered if it was any stronger or even stronger than Lunaala or Solgaleo. Not much information was in the research about the ice bird, and not much was in there for the other two birds either.
Zapdos was last seen in the power plant near Pewter City and Mt. Moon. It was an electric flying type and was known for striking lightning with each beat of its wings.
Moltres, the fire and flying type bird had not been seen anywhere other than the sky in the last ten years. Its location was completely unknown, and its presence was feared by many. The bird was almost entirely covered in flames, much like the Phoenix spoken of in old mythology. Despite the fact that its location was unknown, researchers speculate that it was living in a tropical environment such as the orange islands not far off the coast of Kanto.
The final two Pokémon covered in the binder had their sections merged and not much information had been provided for either of them. I'd just started reading about the psychic type, Mew, when Oak entered and informed me it was time to head home for the day. He was surprised to see I had gotten through nearly everything and agreed to let me finish the last section tomorrow.
Green had invited me to stay at house for the whole week I was supposed to be in Pallet and working with his grandfather. I thanked him repeatedly, and promised to repay the favor in the future. The guest room was made temporarily mine and I unpacked all the contents of my backpack into the empty dresser, washing my dirty clothes in his basement. I met his younger sister, a girl who sparked no resemblance to the narcissistic man whatsoever. She was shy and quiet, only two years younger than me.
Daisy was a Pokémon groomer with a magic touch, not even my still rambunctious nidorina could act disorderly around her. She was calm and didn't react negatively when I asked if she would groom Type:Null, she only asked where it was from. We had tea together and talked about various things, she told stories of Green when he was younger and more annoying than he was now.
Later in the day, as the sun was falling beyond the horizon and the rattata scurried around in the shadowed grass for scraps, Green came back to the house with another guy in tow. They were both covered in dirt and debris.
"Cinnabar is uninhabitable, in case either of you were wondering." Green said as he tossed his dirty jacket into a corner of the living room. His sister rose her eyebrows in annoyance at him but he shrugged it off. "That volcano eruption destroyed everything."
"That's not surprising." Daisy stated bluntly, still gazing at her older brother with a look of aggravation. "The news said the eruption was huge."
"Eruption?" I questioned, gaze falling on the other guy who was shucking off his own jacket and hanging it up on a rack.
"Some volcano under Cinnabar Island blew up two months ago. Red and I wanted to see if anything from the city made it." Green explained, referencing the new guy. Red the champion of Kanto, oh.
"So that old mansion and the fossil lab are just destroyed?" Daisy asked.
Red nodded disappointedly.
"That's a lot of scientific research and history lost." Daisy complained, setting her cup of tea down on the side table. She stood from the couch both of us had been sitting on for the past few hours and scooped up Green's dusted jacket and Red's as well. "You should have taken Moon with you, though." She said as she left the room, likely taking the jackets downstairs to wash them.
"We'll take you with us when you’re finished with gramps's stuff." Green said with a beaming grin in my direction. "We're going to explore Seafoam Island with you."
Seafoam! That was where the ice bird was thought to be located, excitement gripped me and I grinned back to him. "You better take me with you!"
The three of us, excluding Daisy. Went out to the backyard where Green released half his team to wander and stretch before being in for the night. Red did the same and I gazed in awe at his bulky charizard and somehow intimidating pikachu. Green half forced, half requested me to release lycanroc and Type:Null so Red could see the rare species of Pokémon from Alola. I obliged and had to stop Null from ramming into Green's arcanine out of intimidation. Kai was preoccupied showing off to the two men staring at her with amazement.
Red wasn't much for words, as I learned when attempting to ask him about his training regimen. He'd just shrugged and pointed to Green - who then explained that they trained off each other for the most part. The only thing he did say was 'sure' when Green asked him if he wanted to watch some movie before calling it a night. The Pokémon were left outside while everyone in the house nestled into the living room to watch some cheesy flick about team rocket.
After it was over I told them about Alola's former Team Skull. How there was nothing all that scary about them aside from some crazy crap with Pokémon from another dimension. Both Red and Green stared at me like I was insane, I just shrugged. I wasn't really allowed to talk about ultra space or the ultra beasts with anyone other than those who already knew about them.
M//I met the champion of Kanto!
H//REALLY?! Ooh what's he like?
M//quiet haha //he's got a real scary looking charizard and pikachu
G//pikachu?
H//yeah why not a raichu?
M//idk and he wouldn't tell me if I asked
L//I've met him before too! He's very quiet, but very nice //I've heard that Kantonian Raichu aren't as strong as Alolan.
G//odd.
M//Gladion, the Null you gave me tried to fight Green's Pokémon for no reason hahaha
G//you brought it with?
M//yeah!
H//I still want one 😒
G//There's only two.
L//Moon's is much cuter than yours, Bub. 😝
G//Okay?
L//she also saved me life so
M//you wouldn't have died! Just probably broke something.... haha //also she?
H//HOW DID SHE SAVE YOUR LIFE? Why did you almost die!!!!
G//What did you do....
L//Moon and I found a weird cave and explored and I almost fell off a cliff 😅
G//Moon, that's exactly what I told you not to do...
M//this was before that though! //And I guess Null is just a girl now, ok haha
H//LILLIE DONT GO IN THERE AGAIN! You either Moon what the heck?
M//I want to go back though
G//D o n ' t. I swear to Arceus, Moon, do not go back.
Mew was apparently the first decedent of the god Pokemon, Arceus. The first Pokémon that created every other Pokémon? Something like that, the way the research was written it was hard to understand what they were trying to explain. Either way, it was rarely seen but apparently whenever it did appear in front of someone it was very playful and loved to play tricks on people.
Mew was the only other Pokémon known to use the move transform, where it took on the image of another beast. Ditto, the man made Pokémon, is such thought to be a failed attempt at recreating the legendary mew.
Mewtwo, was a more successful attempt to create a clone of Mew, for research purposes. Drawings were scattered throughout the pages of Oak's work. Depicting a humanoid figure with a long tail and two spinal cords. The lab it had been created in was destroyed with 180 casualties and almost all information about the man made creature was destroyed in the exploding lab. It used telepathy to speak with humans according to the information that had been saved... only eyewitness testimonials to its power... of those who survived, all believe it was Mewtwo who had destroyed the lab - killing all the professors and assistants.
The Pokémon had escaped and was now in hiding somewhere, likely in Kanto.
I want to find it.
The rest of the day was spent surveying the wildlife just west of Lavender Town. Oak provides both of us and a small group of assistants a helicopter ride to the area. I searched for growlithe and tried to tag at least two girls and two boys with trackers.
The only thing I could think about while looking at all the growlithe was my father's pet of the species. I struggled to focus on counting the population as my mind drifted to wonder about my mother's wellbeing.
I would have to call her again, check up on the whole situation.
Most of the work I did with Oak was relatively similar to the things I did the first two days. I learned a lot about the native species of Kanto, and helped to put away some new found information about some rarer species.
I'd explored the safari zone very thoroughly, seeing Pokémon that couldn't be seen outside of the 'playground' as easily, at least in Kanto. I certainly recognized a lot of them from Alola. We studied the interactions between humans and Pokémon by interviewing with various trainers, people with pets, and businesses that used Pokémon for various tasks. I helped a few of the assistants to put together a quick report on our findings. I got a chance to explore Mt. Moon much more thoroughly then I had when I transversed it myself. Finding some new areas and tunnels that I hadn't seen when I was only looking through the caves.
All of the time spent traveling across Kanto had exhausted me by the final night of my week with Oak. I'd spent most of the time after what Green had deemed 'work' for me, just lying in bed and listening to music. Recounting all the different things I'd done and seen already was amazing to me. I still had another five months to do similar things and I couldn't even imagine what events would unfold as I traveled and met new faces and Pokémon.
I was packing up my things from the borrowed dressers when Green suddenly burst in the room, a bag over his own shoulder. "One more day with gramps, huh?"
"Yep!" I passed him a small smile, "thanks for letting me stay here."
"You kidding, kid? It was a joy." He chuckled, "You’re always welcome to stay with Daisy and me."
"Thanks! Maybe I'll come back then. Maybe I'll come by every week." I joked. I stuffed a tightly rolled up ball of undergarments into my bag, hoping the man standing in the doorway wouldn't notice.
"Uh, let's not over use my generosity here." He affirmed warily, his eyebrows low and judgmental before realizing I was only kidding. It was quiet for a moment before he spoke up again, his tone taunting. "So you know what this means, right?" He said with a sly expression on his face. Sliding around the doorway so he was officially in the room, leaning against the wall.
I stared at him quizzically, "no, what?"
"Seafoam Island soon!" He half sang, the sound falling into more laughter.
I actually jumped with excitement, dropping my bag so nearly all the contents spilled out. "Oh! Right! I want to find that legendary bird in there."
"Ha! Fat chance." His voice was loud enough to make my ears ring. "It's nearly impossible to get to the bottom of the caves."
I returned a sly grin in his direction, "I can make it down there."
His hazel eyes rolled, over dramatic. "Sure, sure."
Note: So this is kind of a super uneventful chapter and I apologize for that. I may just post chapter five later today, to make up for that. To continue off of that... Could you guys let me know what you think of length for these chapters? I'm conflicted about how much to post at a time. :c So two things - do you guys want chapter five tonight/tomorrow? (Next chapter is posted!) and what do you guys want to see with length for chapters? (For reference, this chapter was around 6 pages long. Chapter three was a whopping 13-14) Thanks!

the midday lycanroc- how are they doing? can we hear more about them? - ⚜
lil update on their time with us is in order, as they’re adjusting at an understandably slow rate. We right away got him vaccinated and up to date on shots to protect the islands pokemon, and he’s eating well when left alone. He came in a bit skinny, matted, flea ridden, now he’s been treated for the bugs before they spread about, we gave him a wash. It took all three of our core staff, and four pokemon to keep him held enough to scrub out the mud, brush out the fur, get the matted bits out. we had to shave the belly fur down to short hair, he was full of dreads basically, and with every stride he made, the hair pulled and hurt a fair bit. Now he has full movement range and is clean and at least looks like he’s had some care given.
So after getting use to the muzzles and general walk times with me, he’s become almost, dare I say it, eager for them; let me be clear, nasty towards me yes, but the walks hold his attention enough for him to not try to attack me at every given moment, though he does thrash about at the start until were out in the open. He’s got a large pen to roam about in, with outdoor space too to get fresh air and generally run around, but the walks we do with him are crammed full of exposure, responsive training, recalling, basic commands, he can get a lick through the muzzle, so we use peanut butter (Xylitol free obvs) for rewards when he’s not horribly rambunctious, but also to associate the staff and normal behaviours with good high value rewards. it has been very steady but slow progress, he hates being approached, so we let him come to us wherever possible, even if it takes hours.
He’s been quite active in trying to clock me again with his rocky collar, but i’ve grown wise to that after the nasty wound I got last time, SO he’s in turn lessening his attempts at the attack. Theres still a lot of teeth baring, snarling, general displeasure with anyones presence, I paired him up with my Lycanroc (midnight form) to see if he adjusts. They walk together twice a day, and I use my dude as a command leader. So when trying to train some kind of response from the new guy, if I ask for a response, my midnight buddy will give the correct reaction, as an example to the new Lycanroc, and in turn get a lick of peanut butter. We see a reasonably quick turn over with this system, eventually the Midday guy will figure out that if he does the thing, he gets a reward. As of yet he has not done any of this, but we see pokemon catch on around the two week mark when they come to us in this state. My midnight dude is very calm and level headed, so socialising the two has been steady and safe, as the Midday boy-o has had a lot of nervous behaviour around others. I’d normally use Val, and she does stand back and keep watch  during all our sessions, but his own kind may help settle him a bit faster.
He has found one joy, which is a lovely development. We put a bunch of things in his area to enrich his time pent with us, as he’s stuck not able to roam the island like most others. We gave him a couple of balls, a few old tires to try to tear into, some tug toys, and one old stufful plush toy. He’s given them all a good go, tore the tires to bits in minutes, but the stuffed toy seems to get carried around with him while he’s in his containment unit, he could easily tear it apart but chooses not to. We’re planning to bring it with us on his walks as a comfort thing, but he wont let us touch it, so we have to get him at least to a point where he doesn't have a muzzle on before we can go about that.
long way to go, but he’ll get there. Not the first difficult pokemon, won’t be the last either.
These updates are nice, its sometimes easy to miss the progress made when you’re wrangling a pokemon all day every day, the little things go unnoticed at times.
